Carmine is NYC to the core, runs a one-man shop, and genuinely loves what he does. He's communicative, on time, and knows boilers, period. He's been doing this work for decades and knows his stuff. If you need a check-up, have an issue with your heat, and need an honest professional, then look no further.

My hot water boiler had small leaks. I was able to reach Primary Heating and sent some photos of the boiler. He responded quickly, gave his evaluation and estimates.

This was couple of days before  Thanksgiving. He was able to secure the boiler purchase, had it installed, and removed my old boiler a day before the holidays.

Primary Heating is friendly and reliable. I would reach out to them again and highly recommended to others.

Carmine is absolutely the best! He's a one man shop by choice and specializes in old boilers. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, polite, and funny. He came to look at my 1987 Burnham boiler, completely cleaned it out, inspected it, changed some old parts, and taught me how to maintain it. He's responsive and timely and chargers a fair price. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone!

Carmine really is the best. And I say that as someone who only met him a few months ago and now plans to be a longtime customer. I first called him to service my old boiler due to his great reviews on Yelp. He is a true expert and such a nice person to boot. Since that first maintenance call, he has also installed an Ecobee thermostat and taught me how to use it, and replaced several components inside the boiler (thermocouple and pilot assembly). He is super thorough with his work, he knows boilers inside and out -- to the point of being able to distinguish between different issues by the sound coming from the boiler -- and he figured out different solutions and was great about discussing them with me to find the right one for our household. I would recommend him to anyone!

The boiler in my home was over 40 years old and should have been replaced years ago. I pushed off replacing it as it was still working. However, with increase heating costs I wanted to replace the boiler with something that was more efficient. I called three plumbers for estimates and I went with Carmine and not the lowest bidder.

Carmine was able to explain the entire installation process, any National Grid rebates that were available, and most importantly explain that the unit was not up to safety standards and with a young family it was even more important for me to change the boiler.

Since the boiler was swapped (September 2017) it is substantially more efficient and the basement room where it is stored is no longer sweltering hot. You will not go wrong if you choose Carmine. He is honest and will not up-sell you things you do not need.

I chose Primary Plumbing because of his great reviews, well he now has another one. I called Mr. Carmine and he asked me questions and for pictures of my furnace. He came the next day and cheked out my furnace and the number of radiators I had.I decided after his analysis that I needed a new furnace.He explained what the work entailed and gave me a detailed contract of the cost for the whole job. He started work the Oct. 6th and finished on the 7th,2020. In a day and a half, he dismantled and removed my large old furnace, collected and installed my new one,and cleaned up everything by himself. He checked and made sure all radiators were heating and I was satisfied. He left saying if any problems please call him. I do have more work to do and I certainly will be calling Mr. Carmine. Carmine is the man you want for your gas boiler. My townhouse on Ave D is old and has a steam boiler for heating. According to Carmine, it was made in the 60s or 70s but has a good core. Even though it was a small job this time, I can definitely tell that he really knows his stuff. Before Carmine, I used another plumber who has 4.5 stars on yelp. While that fellow seems nice too, I don't think he has as much experience or is as focused as Carmine. You don't want your boiler serviced by someone who knows a little bit of everything. Carmine really KNOWS steam boilers.

Carmine has arrived at my address exact at the scheduled time. I had the problem with radiators on all floors of my house. Some of them worked, some of them did not. Week before I had plumbers from City Build It Back program who replaced my boiler. They concluded that the valves on my radiators are broken and it may cost me $1000-$1500. Carmine explained me all possible reasons of my problem (besides the valves) and started to check the system from the less expensive options. He didn't just found and fixed the problem, but also he educated me how to do it on my own (!!!). The valves were not the problem at all! He charged me $240 for everything.
He is the great and honest person. I highly recommend him.

Carmine is the best guy out there. He replaced our boiler with a beautiful new model last year. Best price on the market. He was fast, friendly and honest. He follows up and offers specials to his existing clients. Also- this other company charged a big fee just to visit and look at the old boiler and gave a ridiculously high estimate.  Carmine didnt charge any weird fees and he gave such a great price. As much as I want to keep him for myself, I recommend him highly.

Carmine was a lifesaver. He came promptly when he said he would and looked at my heating issue. I had work done by a third party National Grid has a contract with and they came in the morning and they turned off my gas but when they were done they turned the gas back on but could not turn on my boiler. They said they it wasn't their responsibility even they tried several different ways to turn it back on. I called Carmine in a panic at 2pm as it was going to drop 20F overnight and with a newborn I was worried. He came promptly and as promised and fixed it in two seconds and also did extra maintenance/tune up. He is a really nice guy, honest and thorough. He also wont overcharged you for his work. Highly recommend him!

My boiler was leaking and I needed someone ASAP.

When I called this place, someone picked up and said hello and I asked if this was Primary Plumbing and got hung up on.

I called again and it went straight to voice mail saying this is primary plumbing, blah blah blah, please leave a message. So I know I didn't call the wrong number.  Perhaps they blocked my number?  So I left a message.  Never got a call back.

My boiler was still leaking so I had to find someone else.

Don't know what was up with that.

I did not have a service performed by Carmine because he doesnt service commercial properties however he did walk me through my boiler issue at 8:30pm over the phone and gave me peace of mind that kind people still exist! I cannot say enough positive things about Carmine and the service he provided. I called regarding my 20+ year old boiler and each step of the way he was beyond professional. He shows up exactly when he says he would, completes the installation, makes sure it's running exactly as it should be, and leaves your home looking exactly the way it did - except now with a brand new shiny boiler. In addition, unlike other contractors, Carmine did not (and still has not) pestered me about writing a yelp review for him.

So glad that we found Carmine on this board.  Our boiler wasn't firing and I wasn't thrilled with the annual service we received in the past from other providers.  He arrived on time and got everything up and running and for a reasonable price.

I can't say enough about Carmine.  He is responsive, thorough, highly competent and a really nice guy.  He squeezed me in on a Friday when my furnace was not working, did a fix but warned that he might need to come back if another part was not working properly.  Sure enough, I contacted him late Saturday afternoon and he came at 8:30 on Sunday to replace the additional part.  An old-fashioned, service-oriented guy.  Highly recommended.

I had a complicated thermostat hookup in an older house. Carmine's expertise was refreshing. Great personality, and really knows his stuff. Highly recommended.

Carmine was absolutely amazing, did a fantastic job at installing new steel radiators. We replaced our old very bulky cast iron radiators with some new slim steel radiators. Worked like a charm, I have an older house which makes doing anything a chore Carmine was patient and got the job done. Will use Primary again.

Met Carmine through a well-rated plumber here on Yelp. Basically we had issues with our new 2-family heating system that our plumber tried to fix -- but couldn't. Long story short, Carmine fix it. He knows his stuff, but is completely humble about it. After an initial review, he figured out what was needed, and a couple days later came back and got it done. Just wish I knew him sooner.

Carmine from Primary Plumbing and Heating installed my boiler last year and i couldn't be more satisfied. He is prompt, professional, and his price came in lower than two other plumbers that i had gotten estimates from. When he came out to look at my failing boiler he noticed a couple of code violations and brought them to my attention. I didn't feel  like he was trying the gouge me on the price. He was upfront and honest about everything. He came when he said he would and finished the job on time. I highly recommend him.

We had an excellent experience with Carmine in our 8-unit building. He expertly installed the wireless portion of our Honeywell thermostat -- something we'd had another company try to do but couldn't. He was able to come out for the job within a couple hours of my calling him -- and on a holiday -- and did the job in 35 minutes. So glad we have a solid HVAC person to call now!

When it comes to boilers, response time, and helping you out, Carmine is the best. My 25-year old boiler was suddenly not keeping sufficient water level, and requiring draining every night. I called Carmine and he responded right away. When I explained the problem he even arranged to move me up on his schedule that day. (I must have sounded pretty panicked). While he worked on the boiler he had me talk to him about how we'd had it serviced in the past, made some suggestions and the work was done all in less than two hours for a more than fair price. You can't beat Carmine's business or service.

I can't recommend Carmine highly enough. He is extremely knowledgable, helpful, and responsive. When our boiler started acting up on an especially cold Saturday morning, he was at our door in just a few hours. He carefully diagnosed and fixed the issue, adjusted the settings to make the system more efficient and reliable... all while explaining to me how the whole system works. That night, he called to check in and ensure everything was still working properly. Carmine is a professional who goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are safe and warm. We're glad to finally have a plumber we trust!
