Asset helped me replace a burnt-out outlet and replace a couple of regular outlets with GCFI versions. The owner was very transparent with the pricing. Quoted me one price to show up and replace the burnt outlet. I then asked how much more to replace the other two outlets and he said no additional charge if they can be done within the same time the base service call covers, otherwise they charge at 30 minute increments. Another electrician wanted an extra $80 outright for the same work. The two techs showed up on time and voluntarily took off their shoes before entering my home, which never happens with service providers (cable guy, plumber, etc). I usually have to ask them to remove their shoes and some will give an attitude about it.

They did their work and cleaned up the debris. One of the outlet covers was lopsided when the guy screwed it in. He noticed it and reinstalled it without me having to ask him. Overall very fair / transparent pricing and very good service. These techs actually care!! This is my go-to electrician from now on. Highly recommended.

I thought I had already left this review a long time ago but apparently did not, so here it is at last. Sorry for the delay Ilya.

The first floor unit of my building is a commercial unit. These bozos were doing some electrical work downstairs and oops they completely cut off the lines that power the thing (hot water heater? furnace? something) that heats the entire building.

Ilya rolled up. Saw the mess that was in the basement and was able to connect the heating system to the grid in the building again.

He somehow also casually managed to get the boiler going so I didn't have to pay a plumber to do it, without me even asking him to.

Everyone needs a reliable roster of technicians, plumbers, auto repair guys etc.

I'm happy to have worked with these guys so I know anytime i have an electrical issue, I got a guy who can take care it.

Bought a home in Brooklyn and the home inspector noted that the house only had one active leg of power coming to it from the street. Everything was fine with the power in the house but I wanted to upgrade the service for the future, so I called Ilya. He is to-the-point and knows what he is doing.

He came by my home to look at what I had as he couldn't tell the scope of work over the phone and gave me a free quote based on if con ed could pull new wires through my original conduit. Of course, although the conduit was fine, con ed said they needed us to dig a new conduit to run wires from a different part of the road. Ilya worked with me on a revised quote and I think I got a fair price considering the scope of work.

Ilya and his crew did a great job trenching and drilling out everything and running the new conduit and sealed everything up into the house. Two days later there was a massive rainstorm causing tons of basement flooding in Brooklyn, but not a drop of moisture came into my basement from where they sealed everything, couldn't have been happier.

After con ed approved the work, Ilya and his team worked with them to time when con ed could pull the new wires, turn off my existing power, and rewire everything to my new panel from the old one. He put in a huge new panel with plenty of space to add breakers for the future and everything was installed very clean.

Overall my moderate job ended up being a large job and Asset was great throughout the whole thing. The DOB approved all the work at the end and months later everything is still perfect. I know who I'm using for all my future electrical work.

This review is long overdue. Ilya And his crew are first rate. He will give you options after a discussion of your wants and a thorough assessment of your space. He doesn't make promises he cannot keep just to make a deal. His attitude is no nonsense yet patient. He will do whatever he can to make your project a reality, but is upfront with setting realistic expectations. Prices are very reasonable for Manhattan and the quality of work. He and his crew were neat, and paid attention to detail. He was also more than gracious dealing with my difficult coop managing agency that required proof of vaccination, IDs, licenses, COI, disability and SOW.

SOW included adding a dedicated line for my AC, combining two lines to one switch, installing several lighting fixtures, and repositioned and stabilized 9 outlets throughout my apartment. They completed in two days because they found some of the old wiring had to be replaced in our prewar apartment.

I've worked with numerous other electricians and construction crews, and Ilya is the most honest, professional and skilled that I've experienced. I only wish he did more than electrical work.

I called Asset Electrician because one of my ceiling lights kept on going in and out -- not because of the bulb but we thought perhaps because of the wiring. They asked me to send a picture. They called me back and walked me through how to fix it myself which seemed like easy steps. I very much appreciate their help even though they didn't earn from the service!

These guys are the real deal. We had a tight deadline because of undue pressure from another contractor and luckily Ilya was able to accommodate us last fall. The communication was great! Having worked with several contractors, I found Ilya and his team to be very transparent, honest, and skilled. We had a panel replaced and lights installed over concrete and the result was wonderful. I hired Ilya llin to upgrade the electrical circuit breaker for my home. The job was done by Mike-- he had previously also worked to upgrade a set of light fixtures for my home which he did a great job. Since he did a great job with the light fixtures, I decided to hire them for the circuit breaker job.

The circuit breaker was replaced in February 2020, its been 4 months and so far so good. The job was done efficiently, and completed in under 5 hours. Pricing was fair and well worth the price. Overall, I am very impressed by the work. Highly recommended.

I had an outlet that sparked and a closet pull light that needed replacement. I texted + sent pictures for a quote, got a response within 3 hours, and was scheduled the very next morning. I had a two-pined lightbulbs in my ceiling light. However I didn't know those bulbs were pulled off instead of screwed off. So I wanted to hire an electrician to help with replacing the bulbs. Top notch service. Before finding Ilya Ilin I hired some other guy using the Handy app to replace three ceiling lights and install one ceiling fan. That guy was terribly unprofessional and unproductive-- and left the job incomplete and two lamps dangling from the ceiling.

Then I make an urgent call to Ilya. He came the next day and installed ALL FOUR in under an hour!! His craftsmanship, work ethic, and professionalism is top notch. I called Ilya to change an outlet box but needed to run an extra wire from the panel, which would complicate things, I'd have to put holes on my walls etc etc. I knew this could happen, I was hoping the 4th wire was snuck in the back. But there wasn't. I decided not to go through all that. He didnt charge me anything, not even for the part I had made him get before arriving. If I decide to do this bigger job I'll def call him back. Very trustworthy guy.

Working with Ilya was fantastic. He was the third electrician I contacted about a combination of jobs (fixing some bad wiring, new wire molds, install new outlets). Then he kept saying I don't know I don't know. Okay fair enough. However I gave you all the answers location of current thermostat which is where I want the new to be placed and location of boiler. I know just enough about wiring to be dangerous and sure enough got myself into a mess. With just a verbal description over the phone, Ilya was able to assess the situation and then came over to clean up my mess. While he was doing the work he pointed out that one of my circuit breakers was inappropriate and offered to swap it out with a safer one. I'm pleased with his professionalism.

These guys are great, very professional and efficient. They came into a half installed electrical mess after my contractor failed to complete the new wiring of my reno. They checked all points (outlets and switches) that had been installed, had to rewire most due to poor installation, added two new outlets, and ensured the circuit breaker was set up correctly. After not having power in my apartment for over three weeks these guys had it sorted in 1 day. Worth every penny!

Ilya was great. I submitted a request for a quote via Yelp for an appointment to examine a circuit breaker which kept tripping when we turned on a lamp in our living room. Ilya called me within a couple hours to get some more details and a picture of the breaker box, and texted me a detailed quote shortly thereafter. I set up an appointment for a Saturday morning -- he was prompt and very nice, he appeared to be very thorough in his examination of the box and the outlets (definitely got my money's worth out of the hourly fee), and explained what he thought the issue was and the potential fixes. I took his suggestion, and so far so good! Highly recommended.

Look no further. Haven't tried them all, but why bother? Ilya and Michael are all you'll need. Ilya, away with his family over the July 4th weekend, responded to a phone call in less than 20 minutes. Michael showed up as scheduled and fixed the circuit breaker issue in less than 10 minutes.

This is the second time I've used their service and if I have further electrical needs, I absolutely know where to go. They are courteous, efficient, and fairly priced. If there was a 6th star to give, I'd gladly give it to them.

I reached out to several electricians on Yelp to install some additional sockets at my business, a job I needed done with some degree of urgency. I found it quite hard to get quotes and pin any of them down with a date and time they could do the job (that would work with my schedule, too). Ilya and co were the most responsive. They did the job quickly, cleaned up after themselves, charged what I think was a fair price, and were quite thorough and courteous. I am very happy with Ilya's services.

I needed a good electrician to hang 3 crystal chandeliers. (The big one is 19 3/4 x 13 and the two smaller ones are 15 x 12 1/2.) And I did not want to get overcharged.

First of all he showed up on time. (You'd be surprised how many electricians show up late... or don't show up at all.) He quoted me $250 and I thought that the price was reasonable. (I had called 2 other electricians. One of them asked for $450 and the other wanted $550.)

Ilya finished the job in about 2.5 hours. All three chandeliers have numerous little crystals hanging from them. He was patient enough and hanged each and every one of them.

He kept our apartment clean while he was working. He even took all of the packaging from the chandeliers to the trash compactor room as he was leaving.

I'd recommend his services to anyone who's looking for a professional and fair priced electrician in NYC.

My mom was very satisfied with his work as well. She will be using his services for another project.

We ran into a problem installing a high-end low-voltage LED track system in our loft. None of the transformers supplied by the manufacturer seemed to work, and our electrician advised us to get replacements, which we did - at no avail. Having almost given up on the entire project, I decided to call someone else to help me troubleshoot the system. I had no hopes of actually figuring out what was wrong, let alone fixing it that same day.

In less than an hour, Ilin identified the problem: indeed, the second batch of transformers we received were also defective (Tech Lighting pieces-of-shit), and it had nothing to do with the Soraa bulbs we wanted to install. At that point, most electricians would just tell us to bring it up with the manufacturer. Not Ilin: not only did he correctly identify the problem, but he also took it upon himself to fix it. He went to Home Depot to find a reliable replacement, and after discovering that they had ran out of the model he wanted, he went to a second Home Depot. Three hours later, armed with 5 different transformers (just in case some were defective), he returned and fixed the lighting in the entire apartment. While he had never worked with this system before, he figured it out in no time. Yup, he's that good.

Ilin's rates were extremely reasonable, especially considering we were about to call it quits with a lighting system worth several grand. I wouldn't think twice about calling him again for future installations.

I've hired him for several jobs over the years and each time he's been very responsive, done great work, charged me a fair price, and made sure I was happy with the end result. Ilya does excellent quality work at a very reasonable price. He installed a ceiling fan for me and was quick, tidy, and friendly. He provided a quote quickly and accurately, kept me updated on when he would arrive, and arrived on time (even a little early). When after installing the fan he found out that it had an issue and would have to be replaced, he did not have me pay for the installation until he had installed the replacement and only charged me for one installation, despite the fact that the issue wasn't his fault. I've been burned so many times in the past by unscrupulous tradespeople that I am understandably a little cynical these days. These guys just restored my faith in tradesmankind.

I needed an outlet installed in a closet for my Verizon Fios setup. Ilya was out of town and Michael came instead. The job turned out to be more complicated than he thought due to a concrete wall. So he had to come back another day with additional tools. He was a very good communicator, always texted back and kept me posted when he was on his way. He did a great job, in a way that meant we did not have to do any patching or painting afterward. He asked for the vacuum to clean up and even helped me test the Verizon equipment.

Ilya was easy to communicate with over text. He was clear on the price and explained what he was doing clearly so I learned something while he was fixing my problem. In my case a previous contractor had messed up the wiring in a switch which affected a whole other room in a weird hard-to-diagnose way. We wanted to split the electric between two rooms in our company's basement between two switches to save on electricity costs.

When we called Ilin Ilya due to all of the good reviews on Yelp, there were no expectations since he's all the way out in Brooklyn. He called us back quickly and offered to come over on his lunch from another job in the area. It took him twenty minutes to look around the basement and figure out the job, very professional, and got back to us with two quotes for doing the job two different ways that very night.

By the time we were ready to proceed, we talked about when he was available next and he ended up actually being able to come in two weeks before we had agreed upon which worked out great for us. Actually showed up early for the job and very professionally was able to get the job done in less than an hour, made as small an impact as possible (very small holes in our walls), cleaned up after himself, and charged exactly what we had been quoted.

There is very little that is black and white in this world, but I don't think you could do better than Ilin when it comes to electric work. Prompt, professional, and easy.

As opposed to New York City Electricians, we didn't have to pay a minimum charge before they came to our downtown Manhattan apartment. Ilya answered the phone on my first call, asked for some photos of the problem(blown out track lights) and gave me a quote within a few minutes, which was much more reasonable($100 less) compared to the minimum charged by the New York City Electricians. I had an electrician come to site before Ilya, and he did a very poor job installing two ceiling mounted pendant lights. Ilya came with only a few days' notice. He was incredibly good about replying to my inquiries in a timely manner. When he arrived on site, he was pleasant and well-mannered. I was just about to call this guy again for some more light installation stuff when I realized I forgot to give him a much deserved review. A few months back I hired some other electricians to fix some wrong wiring that I had accidentally done. They quoted to have to rewire my whole apartment for $1,000! It was ridiculous. I knew there was a miswire in our system but they argued with me on this and insisted I needed all new wiring. Well I decided to look around before taking that plunge and found this guy. He came over the same day to assess, used his brain to solve which wire was amiss, and charged $150 total. I mean, you seriously cant beat that. This guy knows his stuff and wasn't trying to cheat us out of a buck. That's worth 5 stars to me and loyal for life.

With weather reaching well into the 90's, we needed two air conditioners installed. It was quoted at $280, and we were elated that they could help us immediately. We had their services on a recent Monday morning at 10 am. Thankfully, they arrived promptly and even removed their shoes to not ruin our new carpet which was very considerate. We were happy with the time efficiency and the quality of service. In addition, we were able to acquire cost estimates for future jobs which was great. I found the two gentlemen to be very professional and told them I heard of them through Yelp after seeing all the strong reviews. Mr. Ilya and his friend were strongly experienced in fixing the double tapping wires by inserting twin breakers. They also assisted us by correcting some problems that we found in the inspection of the place a few months ago. I should mention that they were also able to come over later that afternoon around 2 pm to fix further issues regarding the light dimmer and grounding an outlet. Overall, I would say it was an awesome experience, and I would highly recommend their services to others.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I messaged him here on Yelp on Thursday which he replied back that I should call him. I called him Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday & twice on Wednesday. The first call on Wednesday, he picked up but would not speak & then hung up on me. When I called back immediately afterwards, he didn't pick up. I left him several voicemails, but he never returned my call. I don't understand why he would not return my call. This is the WORST customer service that I have experienced with a small business. I guess he just couldn't be bothered. I guess he didn't want my money. If you are looking for someone that has some semblance of customer service skills & actually bothers to take the time to return calls, then don't do business here. Find someone else.

EDIT: Ilya got in contact with me & apologized for not getting in contact with me earlier. He claims that he tried calling me several times, however my phone never rang. He did come to my apartment to check out what I needed done. He even offered to take his shoes off at the door, which was nice. He told me what needed to be done in order to find a solution for what I wanted done. He seemed very knowledgeable. I originally ranked him with only 1 star but I raised it to 3 stars because he did seem like he knew what he was doing. He was honest with me & told me that what I needed done was very costly & would involve making several holes in my wall (which my landlord would have a huge problem with). He then gave me other options that I could do in order to achieve similar results to what I was looking for. I only wish that he would have contacted me sooner, otherwise I would definitely have given him a 5 star review. If I ever have an electrical issue in the future, I would consider giving him another shot.

Ilya came the day he said he would and fixed the issue with my breakers very quickly (like less then 15 min!). He was very helpful and informed me what was best for the situation for my circuits. He is a real professional in every way, and has very reasonable prices. I definitely will use him again.

Ilin Ilya worked on a number of jobs for me -- hanging frames, building shelves, installing a wall-mounted tv -- and was excellent to work with on all of them. He's very professional and really knows his stuff. He's always on time and is fair with pricing too. I will definitely reach out to Ilya if I do any more build-outs.

Ilya came to install a light fixture was efficient and professional. Was easy to schedule and flexible with me on availability. Pricing was reasonable based on other quotes. Didn't have a ladder but I was able to obtain one, so no issues there. I would definitely recommend and use again.

I found Ilya on Yelp and I called him to install a set of custom-made blinds for me in February 2013. I bought the blinds from the previous tenant in my apartment, who forgot to leave the installation instructions. Ilya expended great effort to figure out how to install them (which I had completely given up on), and he did an amazing job. He took the time to make sure he put them in them securely, fixed a couple of problems with the blinds themselves, and did great work -- the blinds work perfectly and look really good.

Ilya was punctual, professional, and nice. I would definitely work with him again.

By the way, this was after the guy from JWS Contracting (which I also found on Yelp) completely flaked on me after canceling two appointments -- and after he had quoted me a price that was higher than Ilya's. Next time my first call will be to Ilya.

I hired Ilya and his partner to install two ceiling fans, 4 overhead lights, two sconces, rewire a 220v outlet, power a non functioning outlet, and move two additional outlets. They worked hard and fast, explained what they were doing and why, behaved professionally and were reasonably priced. If I ever need electrical work, I would without a doubt hire them again.

I thought i had a serious electrical problem, but as it turns out it was a simple fuse problem. Ilin was easy to deal with when making a booking. Was quick to call back and arrived when he said he would. When the problem turned out to be not serious and resolved it quickly for me, if suggested a fair price. I would be happy to use him again.

No kidding...great guys. Called him about an electrical system blowout.....came
{llin and another winner} discovered the simple correction...did it within 10 minutes then took the time to check the appliances which caused the overload plus educated me about amps and overloading. I have another lighting problem he would not touch until the root cause is fixed {plumbing leak}...talk about integrity..SUPER...I'm calling him back after the leak is repaired.

I tried to change a light fixture in my very old walk up apartment and ended up disconnecting all the power for the whole place. I tried in vain to fix the issue before consulting yelp to bring in a professional. I called early on a Friday morning and Ilin was at my apartment within an hour. The job a diagnosed and fixed for a very reasonable price (for NYC prices anyway), the work was professional and more than I could have asked for given the short notice. If I have any further electrical work to have completed (although I learned my lesson and am not touching light fixtures in 150 year old apartments any more) I will call Ilin first.

I called this guy several times before he finally called me back. He sounded like he was in a hurry and asked what did I need repaired. When I started to tell him he abruptly interrupted me and ask did I have any electrical work. I told him no and he shoved me off to another guy. Didn't even wait for the number he was giving me and hung up. I'm not a rude guy and didn't come off rude to this guy. It doesn't me I have to accept him being rude to me though.

My husband and I used Ilya to do all of the electricity for our store renovation in Williamsburg. It was a complicated job: moving an electricity panel, adding multiple outlets (one through the basement to the main floor), moving exterior store lights, hard wiring multiple light fixtures, splitting/adding new light switches. Ilya is great at his job. He's reliable, fast, prompt, clear, patient. He's reasonably priced (we got one quote from a different guy that was double) and helped us open our doors on time. Also a totally sweet guy, and no nonsense.

Ilya is great!! We just bought a condo that was lacking lighting. He wired the living room and bedroom for lighting. Moved an outlet so that we could mount our TV. Mounted the TV, hid the HDMI cables in the wall, and installed our light fixtures. All for an extremely reasonable price! He is easy to get in contact with. He's courteous and patient. I HIGHLY recommend Ilya!

Ilya was terrific, and I will be recommending him to everyone who needs a handyman or electrician. I needed about 25 pieces of art to be hung on the walls of my apartment, and had contacted several people for an estimate. Ilya was quick, responsive and quoted me a reasonable price for the job; before quoting, he made a preliminary visit to check the walls and do a walk-through. He responded to all of my calls/texts in a timely fashion, confirmed the day before and was always easy to reach. On the day of the job, he was thorough and precise, accommodated my requests to adjust certain pieces, and was both pleasant and polite. He did a wonderful job, my apartment looks beautiful, and I am extremely happy.

Ilya did some handyman work at my apartment this morning after only getting in touch for the first time yesterday. My fiancee and I were very happy with his work. He called shortly before he was scheduled to arrive, telling us he'd be a few minutes late. After hearing all the things we needed done, he gave us a quick and fair price. (He did some odd jobs such as hanging a pot rack, replacing a light fixture, and installing a towel rack.) Because of the somewhat flimsy construction of the walls of our kitchen, he told us that if we have any trouble with the pot rack that he would refund our money. He was friendly and efficient throughout the morning. We highly recommend his services.

FANTASTIC job! I never write these Yelp reviews but I need to publicly commend Ilya. I had a light fixture that stopped working and I was dreading the process of finding someone to fix it. All of the electricians recommended by people I knew fell through or flaked out. Imagine my relief when Ilya (whom I found from these reviews on this site) showed up on time and fixed everything professionally for a fair price. Not only am I going to continue to recommend him, I plan on upgrading some other things in my apartment now that I know someone who can do a great job.

I called Ilya on a Monday at 4pm and he was at the Greenpoint restaurant I own within an hour. I had a few issues: outlets that weren't working anymore but couldn't be fixed with the switch of a circuit breaker, fried electrical socket, and broken lighting fixtures. Ilya quickly fixed the outlets that weren't working. He didn't have the parts to fix the fried socket and lighingt fixture, but told me he could order the parts and do the job within a couple of days. He gave me a very fair price, also. He even told me how I could fix the lighting fixture myself to save money, because it turned out to be a pretty simple fix. I trusted him, and felt comfortable doing business with such a kind and professional young man. I will absolutely be calling Ilya back any time I need electrical work done at my business. Thanks!
