Mike came by my home for a quote and was extremely honest, knowledgeable and friendly. He was on time and his quote was very reasonable. At the time I went with a local contractor, but I will be going back to Mike for additional jobs I have upcoming.
We are glad that we choose SmartFix as our general contractor for our new home. Mike is very easy to talk with, and he is very responsible to the work. We did kitchen, bathroom, and living/dining room renovation. We let him handle everything including painting, hardwood floor, cabinets install, and many other handyman work. There are barely things that I am not happy with. Also he offers a quite reasonable price comparing with other contractors in the area. We recommend people to choose him regardless its a big renovation or small handyman work.

Mike (owner) is great, courteous and hands on with all the work performed. I had my deck and stairs powerwashed, repaired and stained, lots of work and looks great! Interior of 1st and 2nd floor painted, meticulously done, tried very hard to minimize the dust from sanding! Opened up my walls in the LR and DR looks awesome and airy!! My hardwood floors are 26 years old but now they look brand new!!! Happy with the end result of all the hard work and hiring him and his team back early Spring for exterior paint job of the house!
I would call myself a very meticulous customer and hired Mike's team for relatively a relatively small project in one of the rooms in my apartment. One of Mike's strengths is his ability to communicate with customers. After finding Mike's company on Yelp, I communicated with Mike on an on-going basis, from the initial outreach and explaining the nature of the project, setting up time for assessment, choosing material such as paint, to completing the project with attention to details. Mike displayed very good understanding of the project, provided solutions to something even outside the original scope and completed the project earlier than I'd budgeted time for. The room now looks brand new and I would recommend Mike's team.
Couldn't be happier that we chose to go with Mike. His team ripped up our kitchen floor and installed new beautiful marble, worked with a carpenter to build us a custom breakfast booth area, ripped down old wallpaper and freshly painted, touched up wood flooring and more. Great service and he kept us updated the whole time. Highly reco!

Always responds quickly. Very thorough each time we've used these guys (3 different times since 2020.) Mike also approaches the job and tasks within with solutions that save you money. I trust them to always provide an excellent finish.
I can't say enough good things about Mike and SmartFix. He's great with communication, his prices are reasonable, and his people do excellent work. I've used them for several projects now, including:
Demolishing and rebuilding my front porch
Painting my entire exterior
Reboarding parts of my exterior that blew off in a storm
Re-mounting my fireplace mantel
Laying new ceramic tile by my fireplace
Patching an enormous hole in my living room wall
His people are polite and hard-working. Mike is always very upfront about costs. I can't say enough good things! I will definitely hire them again for projects in the future.

Mike is very professional and honest. He clearly explains all the details of the work to be done and makes great suggestions without giving the sales pitch. Work was done quickly and at a reasonable cost. I strongly recommend SmartFix for any projects large and small and I will definitely reach out to them again.

i used Yelp to look for reliable companies, Masonry in particular. Unfortunately, I called this company and also email them through its website but no response received. this could very well tell you right from the start that something is wrong with them. Yelp even tells you that this company will respond within 3 hours but nothing.....RED FLAG!!!!
I got my stair repair fixed - replaced all the treads 14 steps all together stain and painted the riser with white and came out really good.
I'm very happy with the outcome. Mike was very accommodating and professional in dealing with me and the workers who did the work were very knowledgeable.
I would definitely hire him again for my next project.
Hired Mike from SmartFix Home Improvement to do some work on my basement and outside concrete work and love the quality of work. Mike is easy to communicate with, he cleans the work site before he leaves and completes all the tasks without a reminder. I'm very happy with the results and will definitely hire him again.
This review is based just on the company's customer service. Michael was a gentleman from start to finish. My wife & I made an appointment for a free quote, we switched up the date I believe twice on Michael & he was flexible & kind enough to meet our needs. Though only my wife could be present, she spoke very highly of him. His expertise really came forth not only taking in what my wife had in mind for home improvement but also sharing ideas of his own & giving us a heads up for things to watch out for in the future. He's available, he answers question in a timely manner & is both professional & friendly. I'd recommend him.
Highly recommend this contractor for any home improvement project you may have! Mike is a great guy, very professional and honest. Mike has painted almost every room in my house and I could honestly say I couldn't of found a better team to make my house look beautiful. Mike also did a fantastic job renovating my porch. His experience in renovating is phenomenal. Pricing is extremely reasonable!
Jose was cheerful, cooperative, and pleasant throughout this process. He provided a clear bid, worked with us to sort out various options, showed up on time, and cleaned up so it look almost as if he had never been here. We replaced a bathroom fan and a kitchen sink, and he accomplished both within budget and on time. Considering that he came all the way to Jersey City from Hackettstown, he deserves extra accolades!
Requested a quote for a project. Mike showed up April 11, told me he would email me the quote. I sent a text May 1 asking for follow-up. No response. I'm writing this just over a month from when I first saw him so it seems that reliability is lacking here.
I highly recommend SmartFix, Mike the owner is an absolutely pleasure to work with. He was the 4th contractor I had come out to look at the repairs I needed done and the best of them by far! My Jacuzzi Tub leaked onto my first floor creating the need to have repairs. Mike and his team showed up on time, were friendly and professional. They repaired parts of my 1st floor ceiling and repainted the whole ceiling, repaired damage to my hardwood floors, repainted a few walls and installed a closet system. Not only did his team complete the job in two days but also under my budget. I have a few more jobs I need done in near future will be calling Mike again!
