HISTORY
Established in 2008.
Long-time Jersey City resident Joe Shoback started Hudson Home Improvement in 2008, after renovating his own home and struggling to find a dependable contractor. Determined to provide Hudson County residents with reliable and high-level remodeling services, Joe assembled a team of skilled and licensed professionals to create modern and well-crafted bathrooms, kitchens and more. For several years, Joe has worked with the same team of talented licensed contractors who each have their own remodeling specialty, whether it's carpentry, plumbing or sheetrock. In 2013 Joe and three members of his team became NARI-certified kitchen and bath remodelers to learn the newest and best ways to renovate client's homes. Joe enjoys taking the stress out of home remodeling and helping Hudson County families create the home of their dreams.

I recently purchased a home in Jersey City and ran in to unanticipated problems that required gutting the basement. Hudson Home Improvement owner Joe S. visited early on a Saturday morning to assess the basement level and discuss the rebuild. He spent about an hour talking with me and immediately struck me as someone who is deeply knowledgeable about contracting and home building. He was candid and thorough in the assessment, and followed up with an estimate quickly. While we opted to go another route I am confident Hudson HI would have provided high-quality work, as the business's Better Business Bureau rating and reviews I'd read elsewhere are all complimentary. Joe strikes me as someone who goes well beyond the requirements and does right by his clients.
Great integrity, creative, reasonable cost, attention to detail, high quality, a very talented carpenter and courteous contractor. I advise for all to ask for Joe when calling and let them know that I sent you in order to get great service.

If there were 10 stars I would choose all of them! HHI was unbelievable. So professional and great to work with. The end product was just beyond what I could have hoped for. Such attention to detail and real craftsmen. Plus, they specialize in working in city environments which is more complicated than the suburbs. They do it all and take the stress out! Joe and his group are a class act! Would absolutely recommend!
BTW- not sure why i'm coming up as San Fran...I'm in Jersey City.

One word..arrogant! Several years ago, when Joe Shoback was just starting out, I hired him for some home repairs after we had a flood. The work was of good quality and the price in line with other quotes I had gotten. A few years I called Joe for a quote on some new work, his quote was more than double of any of the other quotes that I received, and could not give him the job. This week I called his office twice over a 4 day period, spoke with a receptionist both times, and left my contact info. I never got a callback. I guess Joe thinks he is too good to return customer calls? Maybe he has enough customers? or....maybe he just doesn't care? In any case, just stay away from this company. There are 100's of hard-working contractors out there who would love to have your business and value a repeat customer.
These guys are fantastic! Joe was wonderful to work with, as was everyone on the team he manages. They were communicative and responsive, they showed up on time and did an amazing job. Our house looks like a new house!
We hired them for a front porch rehab and exterior painting and everything was done to code, with the proper permits, and executed with professionalism. And they finished the project on time! A++. Highly recommend.
Our porch was in extremely bad shape and required a very complicated series of fixes, which we were already aware of after having hired an independent structural specialist who detailed everything that needed to be replaced, to bring it up to code. In addition to the termite damage, rot damage and poor construction of our original porch, we made the mistake of initially hiring a different contractor, who scammed us and damaged the porch even further, making the rehab even more challenging. Joe's team tackled the project and got it done! Joe made sure everything was done exactly as we'd requested -- and now we just love looking at our house. It's so cute!!!

We contacted Joe about a leaking shower in our Jersey City home . He responded quickly via email and came out a week or two later to check out the situation. After signing a contract with Joe, we went full steam ahead with an entire shower remodel. We ran into a few issues along the way (as is typical with any project) and when faced with each, Joe was communicative, practical, and helpful. He showed us our various options and the various prices, allowing us to make an informed decision that worked best for us. Joe and his crew are professional and courteous... and most importantly, they are very skilled. We now have a beautiful, stylish, and fully functional, non-leaking shower! Thanks to Joe and the entire crew at Hudson Home Improvement for their hard work. We will definitely reach out to them with our next project!
I had my kitchen redone. Everything from installing a new center island with a gas range and wall oven unit to a new backsplash with under cabinet lighting and high end tile flooring.
Joe and his crew exceeded our expectations many times over. Joe gave us a very detailed and precise estimate along with making us aware of all the possible design options as well as product options. Along the way he would also explain us things wherever needed with online videos, pictures and sometimes based from his experience. He spent significant amount of time to make sure we understood all the project details and were absolutely happy with the options we had selected.
Once the project begun, there was no looking back. Him and his crew were absolute professionals. Very punctual with their schedule, very precise with their work with great quality and no surprises on the way. They finished the project before schedule and within budget with superb quality. Joe was always available over the phone and in person whenever needed for questions regarding the project. I wouldn't have asked for anything any different.
