Reviews
They are always responsive when I ask for quotes here on Yelp. They did the job and we're happy with what we got. We will continue to use them.
Make sure to do a Google search on this company before proceeding with any repairs. You'll see that one of the branches has their license on probation and was subject to a settlement for gouging customers, and it looks like they haven't learned anything. I called them out for a leak under my kitchen sink that showed up because the drain was backing up. They charged $1300 to fix a pinhole in the drain. They then sent someone to hydro blast the clog. After making a total mess of my kitchen floor with the water, which they didn't have any way of cleaning up and had to use my towels, they said that at least 10 feet of pipe was going to have to be replaced. It would have cost $10k for the replacement and another hydro blast. I asked for a written estimate and said I'd get a second opinion. They never sent the written estimate, and I got someone else out who was able to snake the pipe just fine. This is exactly what the news articles said the settlement was about, recommending unnecessary repairs and gouging customers. The guy who repaired the leak did a good job, but it wasn't worth $1300. Luckily, since the second crew couldn't get the hydro jet to work, they didn't charge me for getting water all over my floor and using my towels to clean it up.

I had a leaky shower and called Rooter Hero. Although their plumber was really nice, they quoted me a ridiculous amount of $8000 to replace the whole shower system to remedy the problem. For a leaky shower? I asked a family friend to give me a second opinion. He found that the problem was a broken valve and repaired it for $200. Problem solved. Its worth getting a second opinion.

Answered my call on a weekend, was glad they could schedule an appointment during a late Saturday afternoon and address the overflow problem the next day. They told me I had a root invasion problem for which they quoted me $6,400. I told them I needed a second opinion and when I got that through an honest reputable company they showed me through the camera there is no major root problem that would cause that issue and that I just needed a new toilet which I got and everything works fine. I never got a receipt or report from rooter.

If I could give zero stars I would. This company is as slick as they come. After spending less than 15 minutes running a camera snake down my sewer pipe to discover the cause of the problem for $350, they said I'd need to spend $1850 to have them hydro jet the line, then spend another $5500 to have a clean out installed. AND, they'll even finance their overpriced service! I then called a trusted friend in the plumbing business who gave me the name of a company he routinely uses for this kind of service work. I called and told them my problem and their response was basically Run! Don't walk away from that company because they're ripping you off. He quoted me less than $2000 to install a clean out that includes a hydro jet cleaning so that a proper assessment of the pipe can be obtained. DO NOT EVEN CALL THIS COMPANY because they are a bunch of unethical people that make money by ripping people off. Instead, call Zoom Drain, a local Sacramento company who will treat you with the respect you deserve.

I was looking for an estimate to put in a new line to add a bathroom. The tech was nice and called his boss. Ended up being we couldn't do it, but when asked what a rough estimate would be he eyeballed it and said oh 16-20k easily because they're a big box company and have a lot of employees and overhead...then proceeded to ask for a $50 estimate fee. An estimate fee??? You've got to be kidding me. Other people who've come out quoted me half that. Don't get me wrong the tech and his boss were very nice people but the company clearly has bad reviews for a reason, and even though it wasn't an actual quote, theorizing twice the amount other people have said and then asking for a consultation fee is really ridiculous
Very honest, fast, reliable service! Had a couple of companies come out and quote outrageous prices.
Our rep was a pro. He did a thorough inspection and cleared the line. He did a recommendation replacing our water lines and gave us a quote. I appreciate that he didn't do a hard sell. He honored the special and we are running water again. Thank you for your help. We will call on them again.

The day before thanksgiving we lost our hot water in the shower tub. I knows it wasnt the hot water heater because the sink had piping hot water. So I first met with a local plumber that came in and told me we had to replace pretty much everything that connected to the bathtub. At the cost of 6 grand. I decided to call rooter hero and spoke to mark about our problem. Mark located our problem and had the valves replaced and it only cost us a couple of hundred. He didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need, he was very friendly and professional. You can't believe the anxiety I had after the first plumber gave me the quote, and it was instantly relieved after make the rooter hero crew took care of our problem.
WARNING: Do not use this company if you are: elderly, sick (mentally/physically), uninformed, language barrier, and/or if you are in a rush to repair.
These guys are sweet talkers and anti-insurance. Rooter Hero techs and supervisors alike will attempt to blatantly scam you (charge double or greater) in order to take in a greater percentage from the job cost$$ itself. Personally- my sick grandfather's home experienced a hot water leak. Insurance covered damage to the leak itself, no more. Rooter hero tech and supervisor (NAMES REDACTED) convinced my sick grandfather to choose a new FULL house hot water replacement, which his insurance policy did not cover. Instead of simply fixing the leak as his insurance covered, My frantic grandfather sunk $55,000 into this over priced project. Seriously, stay the hell away from this company. I strongly advise under all circumstances to never touch this company. Rooter Hero does not deserve a place in the Sacramento community. --I emailed the employee address listed below 6 days ago and no reply.

BEWARE!!! Never call this company ... NEVER...! They scammed me for $23410 for replacing the sewer line and bound me by signing a Three Day right to cancel waiver.
So we have two bathrooms , both were clogged. The guys came in next morning and said they snaked in the pipes to figure out what's the problem. First the quoted me around $8000 for cutting concrete in the driveway and where they believed the clogging was then they suggested that the entire pipeline from driveway upto the street sewer system, needs to be replaced. I panicked and accepted the contract since I didn't know that the amount is ridiculous for this job. I was uninformed and ignorant and they took advantage of that. After giving the estimate and approving for the job, they also made me sign a Three Day right to Cancel waiver so i could not back out. When I opted to cancel me the same day, they scared with that waiver saying it might have legal consequences. I had to get the job done and now I owe this company more than $23000. This is a scammer company and I feel victim. Not sure how I'm going to pay.
Never call this company.

I had a similar experience as a lot of other reviewers. I called Rooter on the weekend in the evening because they were listed as having emergency services and we had water spraying out of a valve behind the washing machine. They told me someone could come out between 9 am and 11 am the next day. So the next day they confirmed someone would be coming. At 10:50, I called asking for an ETA on the technician. They said they would contact dispatch and have someone call me. No one called. At about 12 pm I called back and they said the same thing. The technician showed up just before 1 pm. He looked at the valve and said he had to call his supervisor for a quote on repair. They quoted $1100 saying that they might have to open up the drywall to get to the pipes. He then said he had to have his installer go get the parts and then come over and that it would be about 2 hours. We said ok because we didn't know what else to do. After 3 hours of waiting, I called and asked for an ETA. I was once again told that they would send to dispatch and have someone contact me. No one did. I called back 30 minutes later and they said someone would call me any minute. Then the first technician called and said his installer would be there within the hour. Another hour passed and still nothing. I called back and they said that they weren't sure what was going on since two different technicians were assigned. I finally said to forget it and to cancel since the entire day was wasted waiting on these people. The guy on the phone said ok and hung up. Didn't offer any kind of solution or help. Then the repair guy showed up 30 minutes later. No one had communicated to him that we had canceled. We said no to services as I had already contacted another company. I am thankful we canceled because the other company did the repair at a fraction of the cost, without opening up our wall. This company seems to scam people.
Way too expensive!!!!! Would not honor warranty- 1 day pastwould NOT recommend- very disappointing
Mark recently helped us with a plumbing issue and let me tell you, this was one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a very long time. He was so friendly, professional, and honest! Highly recommend Rooter Hero, especially Mark. Thank you!

My water heater started leaking and it was time to be replaced. We contacted several vendors including Rooter Hero. I read the mixed reviews and was a little concerned but since I was getting quotes from three different vendors I figured it would all balance out. I'm glad I did. The estimator 'Michael' was very polite and courteous. I wasn't at home, as I had to work but my father in law was present and spoke with Mike. I then spoke with him on the phone. We had competing quotes and Mike was able to lower their bid but included a Bradford White unit in his bid rather than a REEM or other lower quality tank like his competitors. The instal team showed up on time and were very polite and courteous. There was some confusion when they went to Home Depot and got a cheaper brand unit. I pointed out that the the install called for a Bradford White and they apologized, went back to the store and got the right unit. The installers were a little disoriented, having to go back to the store I think three times for parts, etc. rather than having clear direction from Mike / the Estimator. However, to their credit they remained polite throughout a long day and eventually got the job done. The unit is great. We passed inspection and they got it installed quickly which is a bonus when you need hot water in your residence. The communication between the estimator and the install team could have been better and the install guys could have been a little more prepared, stopped at the store on the way to my house and bought everything they needed or had the parts on their truck so that a 5 hour job did not become a 12 hour job. But, as I said they followed through and got it done. I am very comfortable recommending their services. They are also competitive on their bidding which is a bonus. - MIke
My main water valve needed to be replaced. The tech that came out within a few hours of my call was courteous and empathetic (5 stars for him). Once he performed an inspection of the pipes, he needed to call his expert to get an idea of what needed to be done.
The expert verbally quoted $2,500 minimum to replace what you see in the picture (which he viewed)--a valve and couple pipes.
I was told a few times that I was paying for 30 years experience to do it the right way. And, most companies will break main pipes while doing this kind of fix and it will end up costing thousands more to fix ().
Again, this was a verbal estimate over the phone. Afterwards, I contacted a friend to get a referral and it turns out he had the same experience with Rooter Hero Plumbing.
I would suggest using caution--look for a more reputable company to take care of your plumbing needs.
Do not recommend. Our plumbing went out and they came to our house and gave us a quote fir epoxy of 27,000$. Can you imagine when your plumbing backs us and you get a fix quote for 27,000$. We were devastated because we do t have that kind of money. They gave us no other options. Do not recommend.

I called to have a clogged sink fixed, they responded quickly and made quick work of unclogging it. Other than some water leaking onto the floor which we just fixed using towel service was great and they got the job done.
I am very unpleased with the amount of money I have spent with this company. I have had them come out to my house 2 times for two different jobs and the first job I spent over 9k on the job and they didn't fix the entire problem for the job. In addition that I have called for jobs that were under warranty they tried to charge me $1200 or more.
Had them out because water was coming up in the showers and toilets...
The only thing they did right was diagnose an obstruction in the main sewer line...
They were very quick to sell us on their hydro jet and blast water through out pipes...
$2200 and didn't solve anything...
Probably did more harm then good IMO.
Had someone else out 2 days later...
He found the opening to the sewer line trap in the front yard, opened it and pulled out the obstruction... problem solved for $300...
There are other problems as well with our old plumbing.... but after getting an estimate of roughly $20K from Rooter Heros, we'll be going with the other guy...
Buyer beware!!!
Had a clogged kitchen sink, and I'm basically at the bottom of a handyman, so I needed all the help I can get. I was a little apprehensive about calling a plumber because I have had bad experience with Bonney before and wanted to try another company. I was promised a 12 to 2pm time slot, but changed it after to 2-4pm. It was after 6pm when James showed up, and even though he was late, it was worth the wait. James was so personable, and easy to talk to. He showed me what/where the problem is and took care of it in a jiffy. I told him about a few of my concerns and he addressed them/took care of them for me. I certainly recommend this company, and if you can request for James specifically, you're in good hands.
I called about my master bathroom drains backing up so I called and wanted to get a quick clean. The fella doing it took five minutes and told me all my plumbing needs to be replaced and quoted around $18,000. I then bought a snake from Home Depot and found that my drain was clogged with a bunch of stuff. He didn't take the time and listen to what I told him. 71$ out the door for nothing. I had to fix it myself.

Very unreliable, technician was late several hours. I called twice to get an ETA and was told someone would call me back and no one did. When technician arrived, he quoted a price of $1100. He claimed kitchen pipes needed to be updated. This is a serious attempt to take advantage. Got another opinion, and another plumber, I paid less than $100. Will never refer this business to anyone.

I would give this horrible plumbing company a NEGATIVE rating if I could! They scheduled a 10 am - 12 noon appt window. IT IS NOW 3:15 PM. They did NOT even bother to call. I had to call / text a couple of times just to follow up. I took off from work just to be at home!!!
I will definitely NEVER hire this UNRELIABLE plumbing company ever again!!!
Time wasters and truly a horrible company! I belong to a local trades union and will definitely mention this company to local community leaders and tradespeople for its UNRELIABILITY....soooo upset they wasted my precious time!!!
In desperation of HVAC repair during the summer heat wave I called this company and tried to hire them since they were the only ones to me a next day appointment.
Call center promised someone would come out Saturday between 9 - 10 AM. 11 Am rolls around and no communication. Call the call center and they said the tech is busy but will be on their way. 4 PM rolls around. Call the call center and they said the tech can't come we'll have to push it to Monday at 12:00 PM.
Monday rolls around I call them in the morning to ensure someone is coming. They promised someone will be on their way that day. 2 hours later I get a call from the manager saying they only have 1 HVAC tech and he has 6 appointments ahead of me that day and they would have to push my appointment to Wednesday.
My biggest regret was getting false promises from this company and believing they would make due on their promises. I wish I could rate them on their actual repairs and service, but I would not know.
I had them out this evening weekend after hours for a backup in my toilet and bathtub. They were able to quickly clean an obstruction in my outside drain for a very reasonable price. I was pleased with their service and price.
Fixed up my leaking bib and my shower diverter valve and did a great job. Would recommend.
Kyle was awesome and knowledgeable and very patient with all of my questions. Definitely recommend them for emergency services.
They should have a zero rating. I wish I would've checked out first or Google and checked their ratings are horrible and everybody says so. Believe what people say in the reviews about how expensive they can get quickly. They charge me $2500 to find my main line from the house. It's ridiculous. It's my fault for not checking better into this company. They're expected to come back tomorrow and I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau. If they triple charge me what they should've charged me I looked around it should be $800 for what they've done so far and they've charged me 2500 to be continued....
