Here's what happened with I called Precision Plumbing...
* On Saturday evening, December 29th one of my renters called to let me know water had come up through the basement drain. Luckily it was minor and the water had receded.
* On Sunday morning I went over to the house to see if there was something simple blocking the drain. I put Liquid Plumber down the drain then ran the washer and didn't have any issues. I did however ask them to keep an eye on the drain if they took showers or ran laundry. By late Sunday afternoon they had called back saying water was coming up the drain again so I told them I would call the plumber first thing Monday morning.
* On Monday morning, December 31 at 8:09a I called Precision Plumbing, explained the situation, and asked if they could have someone stop by that day.
* The service tech arrived in the afternoon and when I talked with him after he finished the job, he said he ran every foot of cable he had from the roof down and he suspected the issue was roots in the sewer lines. He also mentioned that they had a 90 day guarantee and that if there were additional problems, just give them a call. That service call cost me $393.
Side note - I talked with my renters after he left and they said the service tech was very polite and cleaned up any mess that he might had made. I normally check with my renters to make sure they are happy not only with the service call but also the tech that shows up.
* On Saturday, January 5th (just 5 day after the original service call) the renters called and said the drain was backing up again. I immediately called Precision Plumbing to report the issue. The lady who took the call wanted to talk with the owner so she said she would call me back.
* About 15 minutes later she called back and said that if I wanted to wait until Monday morning they wouldn't charge for the follow up service call but if I wanted someone to go by that day, there would be a service call fee of $125. While I appreciate the offer to waive the service call if I waited until Monday, I couldn't ask my renters to wait another day and a half especially when the plumber supposedly cleaned the line just 5 days earlier. If you were the renters would you want to wait 1.5 days?
* Long story short, they did the service call on the Saturday and charged me an additional $125. When I asked about the guarantee, I was told that it wasn't valid for roots issues.
* In addition to the aforementioned problems with this company, I already had an appointment scheduled for Monday, January 7th for the owner to give me an estimate about work on another property I had just purchased. The appointment time was between 8 - 9am. At 8:30a the office manager called and said the owner was on his way and would be there in about 20 minutes. At 9:07a the owner still wasn't there and I had to leave for work. He might not have anything else to do during the day but some of us do work and we can't sit around waiting on him.
The bottom line is, I paid the $125 but that is the last cent I'll ever give Precision Plumbing again. And I'll make sure to tell everyone I know my experience with this company.
