PK Plumbing, what a waste of time and money! The only words that come to mind to describe PK Plumbing are unethical and incompetent. I called my home warranty company (HWA Home Warranty) because I had a leak in my tub/shower faucet. They then dispatched PK Plumbing to my home. It turned out to be a frozen valve that the plumber claimed he couldn't fix at the time because he needed to open up the wall in my office to be able to access the pipes. Not knowing much about plumbing, this seemed to make sense to me. He called the warranty company for approval but couldn't do the work for another week. It was apparently a four hour job. This whole time I'm living in my home without running water; only turning it on as needed. I begged the plumbing company and then the warranty company to help me to find a way to move up the date due to the lack of running water but no one was able to help.
Tuesday the 19th finally arrived. I took a vacation day to be available. Steve the plumber arrived. He said he still couldn't access the pipes because the desk that was built into the wall was blocking access to the pipes and I needed to call someone in to get it removed. Insurance doesn't cover this. He called the plumbing company back to reschedule. Yes, I'm waiting yet another week for him to return. It will be two and a half weeks living without constant running water.
I scheduled a contractor to come out and remove the desk that was built into the wall. He did within minutes. Then then truth came out. He called me upstairs and apologized for not measuring first, which was not needed based on what I asked him to do based on what the plumber told me to do. There was no need to remove the desk from the wall at all!! The shower pipes were about 12 to 18 inches to left of the desk, leaving the plumber plenty of access.
If needless destruction to my office wasn't enough, the contractor then said there was no need to access the pipes at all. This, of course, was after he opened up the wall to fix the leak that the plumber was unable to fix in the first place. All that was needed was for the valve to be pulled out of the faucet from the front of the wall, which the plumber said he couldn't do. The contractor graciously asked if I wanted him to do it. I, of course, said yes. The thought of having running water again was quite appealing. Not to mention the plumber had lost all credibility in my eyes.
Shower leak fixed. Water is on. All is well in my home again, except for the fact that I need to repair the hole in the wall in my office and figure out how to repair the desk that was destroyed.
PK Plumbing is inept at best. They needlessly had me destroy a room in the name of price gouging the home warranty company for unnecessary work, at least that's what I believe. What other reason would a plumber have to not know where pipes are located?!
I would never, in good conscious, recommend PK Plumbing to anyone for anything, ever. Neither PK Plumbing nor HWA Home Warranty expressed any sense of urgency nor any sense of customer service. I paid $100 for the original call. I lost one vacation day. I paid a contractor, outside of my warranty coverage, to repair something that should have been repaired by a covered vendor. And on top of all of that, I'll be spending a good sum of money to make repairs to the unnecessary destruction in my home office based on PK Plumbing's directive.
