HISTORY


Established in 1960.
Robert Bieg was a plumber with Plumbers local 35 until going into business for himself. Bieg Plumbing Company Inc. was founded in 1960 by Robert and his wife Joan Bieg. Bieg Plumbing has been serving the St. Louis area for over 50 years, and is now under the leadership of four out of ten children Robert Bieg Jr., Dennis Bieg, Mark Bieg, and Alice Mantia. Since its founding, Bieg Plumbing Company has experienced continued success and growth by providing exceptional, professional service. Our goal is to establish and maintain ongoing relationships with customers by offering exceptional customer service with a complete line of competitively priced and quality plumbing services.

Rude customer service and shoddy plumbing work. A St. Louis institution. I would never recommend this to a friend. Maybe my worst enemy.  Mark b. I feel I must apologize for not being specific. The issue is not with you being unable to release information to me. I was expecting that, as I also work in the field. What I meant by bad customer service, is the service representative who picked up the phone, and pathologically interrupted me as I'm trying to explain to her why I'm calling. Mind you this is before she has even realized that she should not be giving information to me. At this point she is just trying to find out why a new customer is calling. The rudeness displayed was astonishing. You guys are reputable company that does a lot of business in the area, but that does not mean that I am required to give you my business. If this is how you treat all new customers, it is a wonder that you guys are still in operation. As far as shotty plumbing work, I am referring to the repair that you made, and yet cannot get a camera through the exact spot that you fixed. Unless you WERE able to camera past the repair, and were held up at another spot. Either way your repeated refusal to surrender the DVD that was made, either to myself or the sellers realtor, is equally astonishing. I have spoken with other plumbing companies, and the general consensus is that they don't understand why a camera would not make it past a spot that has just been repaired, nor the refusal to release the DVD. It is a simple request, and one that I am starting to think is not being for filled because the task was never completed even though it was in your contract that YOU WROTE. Thank you for jerking me around through this whole process, and thank you for the experience.

I was having problems with water pressure.  I contacted Bieg and set a time.  2 days prior they called saying the plumber would be out of town and asked if they could send someone else an hour earlier than our scheduled time.  I was fine with it.

Day of, Dave the plumber shows up 15 min early which was nice, since I had to go to work and I didn't have to worry about being late.  He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot, and then took time out answer an unrelated plumbing question plus he showed me how to fix it on my own.  

Dave was very courteous and kept me informed of everything he was doing.  I highly recommend him.

Would not recommend. Poor service quality and quite expensive for something that didn't get fixed. Was charged for half an hour more ($75) than the service I received because they said they started service at 8:45 AM (instead of 9:00 AM like they actually did) and because the repairman chatted for another 20 minutes, and that was on top of a $150 fee just for showing up. Requested service for toilet that was running. Service man said it was an easy fix. Fast forward two weeks and the same issue still exists. Called to get them to come fix what I'd already paid them to fix, and they said it would be an additional charge for parts and labor (only thing they'd waive was the arrival fee).

Mixed reviews. Used them for a hot water heater repair and everything was okay. Had a larger job and they acted too busy for our business. Decided to go elsewhere. Probably won't use them again

Very happy with the service Bieg provided and would recommend them for all plumbing needs.  We needed some work due to a toilet issue (wouldn't fill).  After trying some basic troubleshooting the shutoff valve at the wall started leaking.  We called Bieg and made an appointment.  To our surprise they were able to squeeze us in early.  When Kevin showed up he was very professional and followed all COVID protocols.  Needless to say the leak was difficult to narrow down.  Kevin stuck with it and did an excellent job, his patience and perseverance paid off and he fix the leak.  Thanks and highly recommend Bieg plumbing

Bieg incorrectly installed a garbage disposal.  When I discovered it was leaking, I called for service.  They charged $200 to correct their error.

A great family-owned professional company!

We had to get a toilet replaced & had heard good things about Bieg Plumbing.

It was easy from the first call. Scheduling was a breeze & the technician came on time.

He was friendly & knowledgeable. He confirmed the make & model of the toilet before getting to work.

After installing it he had me come in to inspect it & give it a good flush.

He cleaned up the area well too.

No complaints. At all. Will100% use Bieg Plumbing again.

I had a new dishwasher installed and it was a 2 1/2 hour job.  The house is new construction, so there were no issues with electric or plumbing pipes. He had trouble with attaching the screws to the bracket under the countertop, and they are not attached. I was quoted an hourly rate and it should have taken an hour to install.

Today the nicest and professional plumber repaired our burst pipe and put in new frost free faucet. He arrived on time. Much appreciated. He explained exactly what was needed. Had to opened the drywall access panel by sawing. Of course he asked permission first. But all was very clean when he left. I know how messy drywall dust can be. I recommend this company highly. Even though no one wants to pay for plumbing I was impressed how fast, and professional it all was. Thank you for a job well done.

During our year of renting a condo in Clayton, Bieg was called in to fix a sink draining issue - the person who came was excellent and worked quickly to diagnose and fix the problem.
Upon moving to our permanent house, I called them to hook up our new dryer to an existing gas line, which was only 10 feet away and in full, unobstructed view.  What should have been a couple hundred dollars, ended up costing $700! -  more than the cost of the new dryer.  When I complained, the service person replied that it took time to get supplies out of his truck.  This is interesting because when he started the project, I found him on a ladder looking through all his storage tubes, complaining that he couldn't find his copper pipe.  His only other comment was that shelves were in his way.  These were three wooden boards linked together with swinging hook and eyes that are so easy to unhook and move out of the way, that I didn't even think about doing it ahead of time.  It's a process that might take a full minute.  As I was writing the check, he got on the phone to troubleshoot some other project, then in between his phone conversation, shoved the invoice at me to sign, took my check, and said a quick thank-you in the middle of his conversation and walked out as he kept talking on the phone.
Gee, what a great customer service personality.  If I had known that he would have taken half a day to do this, I would have paid for an initial estimate, first.  My mistake - buyer beware.

Terrible!  I made an 8:00AM appointment and they did not show up.  Upon calling, they stated they had me on the schedule for later in the day.  This is unacceptable when I specifically asked for the first appointment and had taken off 1/2 day of work.  DO NOT RECOMMEND!

NEVER EVER USE Bieg Plumbing!

They charge more than other companies and they don't stand by their work.  They snaked a line from our laundry room that was draining slowly.  60 days later and we are having the same problem.  Bieg offered to waive the $50 service fee, but wanted me to pay the hourly rate again.  They charge $140/hr btw.  I refused on principle.

Other companies have done this work for me before and each time they snaked the line further out and it cost me about $30 less.  Plus the issue stayed fixed for 2-3 years.

Disappointed! Contacted them about doing some commercial sewer repair; they confirmed they serviced the area. The subsequently came out and communicated they would submit a quote for the repair.  Since then I have contacted them weekly asking for the quote; today they advised it was not in there service area and are not going to provide a quote etc.

What I don't understand is; why did they take the appointment and why did it take 4 weeks and 4 phone calls to them before they advised mr of this. Needless to say I won't be contacting them again.

Terrible experience with Bieg! Purchased a new toilet and needed it installed, we've used them previously and aside from their high prices we thought it would be a good fit. The plumber who came out to the house was pleasant enough, began working on the install and realized our brand new toilet was faulty, yet he continued working on the toilet for 5.25 hours. He came to the conclusion that we needed a new tank, a family member ran to the store to exchange the tank (taking a total of 20 minutes), by the time the family member returned the plumber had decided that he would leave and come back, not before charging my mom over $740 for an incomplete job, leaving a mess of broken metal shards in her basement, and a broken bathroom tile he denied breaking. He said he'd return, not knowing when he would be be back to finish the job. My mother had spoken on the phone twice with the company sharing her disapproval with the job and feeling like she'd been taken for a ride from this well known South St. Louis plumbing service. They were completely unapologetic and made us feel as though it was our fault that it took the plumber so long for a simple install because we purchased the toilet ourselves and not through them. We asked if they would be back same day and they couldn't give us a straight answer. It was a complete disaster. The plumber returned, it took him 10 minutes max to complete the install. It's weird that the job was now so simple (his words)! Maybe he could have suggested the new tank from the get go and could've saved my parents a few hundred.  Needless to say we don't recommend Bieg's and we'll obviously never use them again. When I told the lady on the phone that we would not be using them after the job was complete she told me that she already put us on a list whatever that means!

I contacted Bieg Plumbing about fixing the main water valve inside my house a week and a half before a scheduled appointment, stating I needed an appointment in the second half of the day.  They told me they could not guarantee an appointment if a hospital or school called and that I should check with them they day of the appointment which I did.  I called a 10:00 AM to see if they were going to be able to come out before using 4 hours of vacation time to get this work done.  I was home at 12:00 noon and waited and at 3:29 PM they called and said they were not coming out.  I lost 4 hours of vacation time for nothing.  YOU CANNOT COUNT ON BIEG PLUMBING TO SHOW UP.  DONT BOTHER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM.  THEY ARE RUDE AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS.

Just called to inquire about their plumbing services and encountered the rudest lady on the phone. It was like it was an inconvenience for her to provide any information as if that's not her job. Not sure of the quality of their work because I couldn't get past the terrible customer service.

Had a decent experience with them in the past but the last 2 times I have contacted them there have been issues. They are terribly expensive and did not fix my toilet leaking. Would never recommend them again.

I request a shut off valve for a toilet replaced and a hose water access in my basement. The work was satisfactory but it took 3.5 hours to complete ! Needless to say the bill was, in my opinion, outrageous at close to $700.00!!!

Although the technician was very friendly and seems like a really good guy, I was completely misguided on the cost of this job.  I received a quote previously from another company for $750 for sewer cleanout, and thought that was high. So, I contacted Bieg, they sent out their technician who scoped the situation and gave me a quote between $500 and $600.  I said ok, I'll move ahead with your company.  We then waited an hour for another guy to show up with equipment.  When he showed up the vacuum equipment didn't work, so we waited another 45 min to an hour for him to drop off the vacuum and come back with...a shop vac.  Finally they are able to suck up the debris, and clean up.  The whole ordeal lasted 4 hrs (a little over an hour of which was actual labor, with an hour of loading and unloading), and I was charged just under $1000!! That was almost double my quote.  I will never use this company again.

**The owner reached out to me when he became aware of the situation and honored the technician's original quote.  I appreciate his resolution to the matter and have amended my review of the company.

Garbage disposal rusted through and there was a smell coming from the water.  Researched and selected our own garbage disposal, specifically, that could be hard-wired to replace the current disposal and called Bieg to install.  Plumbe was able to find the source of the smell quickly and replaced the hosing quickly, that was excellent.  However, told us our disposal could not be hard-wired and we would have to call an electrician.  Refused to look at instructions that explained how it was hard-wired. Also, would not wear his mask properly.  Called Bieg to tell them this was an issue was told this was a miscommunication.  If I had known they couldn't do it, I would have called someone else to begin with. Now the disposal is installed which is going to make setting it up that much hard.  If you decide to use them,  I would be very clear with what you need and consider getting it in writing.

Update:   The garbage disposal we purchased is a Moen that could be either plugged in or hard-wired.  After reading through the instructions, we were able to connect it ourselves in 15 minutes.  It would have taken less time if it weren't already installed.  Turns out, we didn't need a professional for this after all.

Dave K was my plumber today. I needed a new kitchen faucet installed. He was awesome. Installed the faucet and two new supply stops in less than 45 minutes. I work for a commercial plumbing manufacturer so I am very picky about installation quality and integrity.

Will definitely use Bieg again.

Just had them out for a leak in the basement. Turned out to be a toilet supply line in main bath. They found it, fixed it and done in 30 minutes. Josh was very professional and courteous. Reasonable cost too!

After having the absolute worst experience with a competitor that I was forced to use by my Home Warranty Company, I called Bieg Plumbing on my own to pay for my Hot Water Heater to be repaired out of pocket. Two different companies recommended Bieg so that is why I specifically called them. They fixed the Hot Water Heater in one short visit that their competitor was unable to repair after two visits. Everyone I dealt with at Bieg was friendly and professional. They made a really horrible experience much more tolerable and they resolved the issue without incident. And, in the end, my Home Owner Warranty agreed that the competitor that they made me use was either completely clueless or dishonest and reimbursed me for my plumbing bill. Yay!! I will be using Bieg in the future, and I would recommend them to anyone.

This has got to be the worst plumbing company that I have ever not had the chance to work with. Their incompetence to make and schedule an appointment and lack of customer service leaves me horrified that they are still in business. First I called to make an appointment to have someone come out and look at my sewer line. But nobody showed up. Then I called again to find out why someone didn't come out and I was told that The technician does not have time to go to appointments that have not been confirmed the day of and that I needed to call and confirm my appointment the day of my appointment . So I made a second appointment, but the technician was on vacation so I had to wait a week. I made sure to call the office to confirm the day of my schedule appointment. the woman on the phone assured me that someone was going to be coming. Again no one came.
During my third call I asked if the technician had come out and checked the sewer line. The woman on the phone said that she didn't know and that she would have to give the paperwork to the boss but he wasn't there that day. On my fourth call I was told that no one came out to see the sewer line and that an estimate will not be written out, because I do not live in their area.
What type of company leaves it up to the customer to confirm an appointment the day of, and leave them hanging if they do not service their area?

STAY AWAY !!$1860.00 plus to remove and install a water heater is OUTRAGEOUS I had Bieg come to my house to Put an expansion tank on my water heater, bring it up to code and pull a permit so it would pass St Louis County Code. Joe came and said he didn't have time that day because I didn't ask for all that. I called twice to make sure they knew what I wanted, apparently they don't listen. VERY CONDESCENDING don't know if it was because I was a woman or they are like that to everyone.
Two weeks prior I had Mark from Bieg clear my drains from tree roots now Joe said I have a slow sewer drain WHY? after paying $ 300 this isn't fixed. After installing the water heater my laundry room sink does not work,  per Joe calcium build up so now I have to buy a new faucet. Totally feel like I was taken advantage of after a total of over $ 2,400
NEVER NEVER would I recommend.
