The plumbers (Ray - and a partner whose name I can't remember) were both fantastic. They were on time, and more importantly kept within their proposed estimate for work and were honest about upcoming work needed. I will definitely be using Roto-Rooter and requesting Ray for my future work.

Called Roto-Rooter yesterday because the hot water in my kitchen stopped running on Christmas day.  A tech came out and looked at the situation and told me that the pipe was frozen and that he could stand under the pipe with a heat gun, but he charges $340 an hour, and it would be cheaper for me to stand under the pipe with a hair dryer.  I appreciated his honesty.  It is now two days later and I am waiting for another plumber.  The hair dryer did not work and I still have no water.  Granted, frozen pipes are a tough problem - just hope the next plumber can fix it.

Thanks Roto Rooter for taking care of our clogged kitchen sink and for coming out on a Sunday!!  Our Sink backed up and we couldn't find any clog in the pipes, so had to call a professional.  They do not have an extra fee for weekends either!  Josh #4348, gave us an estimate and completed the clean out within an hour or so:)!!  We were thrilled!  Thanks Josh and Roto Rooter for coming to our rescue!  I would highly recommend them.

We had a backup issue and everyone else we called couldn't come out four at least 4-5 days, but Roto-Rooter came out within hours of calling. Brian was very informal and cleaned out our main and another drain from the shower. We knew they weren't going to be the cheapest because how fast they come out, but it was reasonable and they did a great job. It's guaranteed for the next 6 months too, so that makes it even more worth it. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.

Needed plumb trap removed and replaced after 67 years of service. The guys came out and did a great job. Also, had them snake the drain pipe, in which they recommended. They were professional and got the job done in a short amount of time. They gave me $50.00 off and 20% discount for snaking the drain pipe.

A the small forest of roots was quietly growing in my main sewer line. I had no problems before but before selling the house cleaning the line was the thing to do. So I looked up roto-rooter on their website and requested service online. Within minutes I was contacted and services scheduled for the day I requested. The tech was on time and courteous upon arrival.  He cleaned a lot of roots from the line it's a good thing he did.

Great service!  Our floor drain backed up in our basement and smelled of something awful. It was a very busy time for them with the very cold temps and frozen pipe people were having and was pleasantly surprised that they made it the same day just a few hours after my call. Steve did a great job explaining what he was doing and educating us. Will definitely go with them for any future problems.

I was long overdue to have a good pipe-root cleaning as evidenced by my laundry room flooding this weekend. Joe (Service Technician 2475) was so kind and completely cleared everything up. After my dog was a complete jerk to him he mentioned he had dog treats in his car and should have brought them in I mean who is that nice?  Thanks for the quick and thorough service!

I called Roto-Rooter on a saturday morning to help clean out a drain causing an overflow issue in our laundry room.  They took my information and informed me they would have someone call and be out within 4 hours.  That was amazing, since it was a Saturday I didn't expect same day service.  Also, when I asked if it would cost extra for a weekend, they stated prices were the same regardless of day, and there was a zero fee for the trip out for inspection.

Within 20 minutes, the appraiser called.  He would arrive in 10 minutes.  And he did.  He inspected and advised the plumber would be there within an hour.  He was wrong, it was actually within 15 minutes.  So, from original call to plumber arriving, it took a total of 35 minutes.  On a Saturday.

The plumber quoted me the price, and when I asked about coupons, he mentioned a $40 coupon, but that I could check for others.  I found a $50 discount, which he applied.  Overall, it took him about 30 minutes to clean the pipe and resolve my issue.  He was very helpful and informational throughout.

I was impressed.  And will call them again if I need service.  Well done.

We came home last night to find our basement bathroom, utility room and laundry room flooded with, shall we say, used water.  I called Roto-Rooter at 9 pm and, within the hour, the technician was at our front door.  He asked a few questions, examined the areas, then went to work.  An hour later, our clog was cleared.  Our technician was prompt, courteous and professional and did a great job taking care of a messy situation, well done!

Came to apartment twice to fix two slow-moving drains. First time through they successfully fixed one, but the second was unchanged. Second time through they again failed to fix the second drain. Had a *real* plumber come look at it and he found the problem in 10 seconds. Terrible, terrible terrible.

Go anywhere else! I had 2 small gas leaks and it was over $1,000 for less than  2 hours worth of work.  Charged me $75 for parts that are less than $20 at home Depot.  Plus I called for emergency service at night and they couldn't even send someone out till the next day saying the plumbers only work during the day. Don't claim to be 24 hours service then!! I would've got ahold of a regular plumber that was more affordable if I knew they weren't going to be able to help me in a timely manner.

Dave K. (Tech 2666) from Roto-Rooter came out to our house yesterday to help us a resolve a plumbing issue.  He was fantastic, friendly, and knowledgeable.  He did a great job informing me of my options and helped me choose the best solution for my situation.

Would definitely prefer Roto-Rooter and Dave K. over any other similar services.

Thanks!

I had one of their plumbers come out to fix a couple things. He offered to do more work on the side at a cheaper rate (Dan). I thought the guy was honest, since he was 65 yrs old he said. He came over on the weekend to fix the sink but said the sprayer wouldn't pull out all the way (deliberately). The guy was not honest, overcharged me for the little bit he did, he used parts from  the Roto Rooter truck. He also stole things from my house. I didn't notice things missing until a couple months later when I was looking for the items. I called Roto Rooter back and spoke to a manager about it. He told me the guy no longer worked for them - I wonder why? I should have called around, and gotten a written estimate. Don't ever work with anyone who offers to do something cheaper for you on the side. You have nothing in writing, and it will probably cost you more in the long run.

Great to work with. I had a backed up floor drain in the basement on a Saturday afternoon. I called, and Dennis (tech 2588) was there in less than 2 hours, which was three hours earlier than quoted. Not only did he do a great job, but was careful walking his gear through our house, and even tried to play with our scared little dog. I would not hesitate to call again, but hopefully not for a while!

It was easy and fast, and now my drains work.  I had a basement drain backing up, as well as the bathtub drain on the main floor of my home.  They were able to come the same day I called to make the appointment, which was really great.  The guys they sent were friendly and informative.  They made sure to review what they were going to do and the costs before proceeding with the work.  It was expensive, but I'm definitely happy with the outcome.

The kitchen sink was clogged and wouldn't drain.  We tried to fix it ourselves but didn't have the necessary tools to reach the blockage.  I called Roto-Rooter and was surprised to have someone arrive within 30 minutes.  They had given me about a 3-hour window but then came right away.  They will not give you any type of estimate over the phone, but will provide a free, no-obligation estimate in person before they do any work.  Brian was at our house for about 2.5 hours and seemed to do a thorough job.  He offered some discounts for cleaning additional drains, but didn't give us a hard sell on anything.  I also had a $50 coupon from their website and they honored that with no problem.

Really bad service and very expensive.

I called them to diagnose a water leak in my shower. They quoted $600 which I ok'd looking at the scope of work they wrote down . I assumed that if they did not have to do all that, it would not cost as much.

In the end, after 45 minutes of work and putting a dehumidifier in our house for 2 days, they still ended up charging the same amount . Their reasoning was that the rental was the actual cost. I could not believe that a dehumidifier would cost that much to rent. Would NOT recommend again . I emailed the guys to get a line item quote and never heard back.

Please do not use.

I noticed water in the basement. And as a new home owner this is something you don't want to see. I called Roto rooter at 9:30 and someone was at my door by 10:30. He was kind and the first thing he said was thanks for calling us.  His name is Brian #936.  Since I don't know much about sewer drains I asked him if he could speak to my husband who was not at home. Brian clearly explained what all needed to be done. He took off his shoes and was respectful of my house.  Within an hour my drain was cleared and now we have a dry basement.  Thank you brain. And thank you Roto rooter

Quick same day service.  Courteous technician.  Work was done efficiently to unclog a mysterious back up in a toilet.  Toilet was removed from drain for inspection.  Drain was clear.  All's well that ends well.  Somebody had dropped a pen in the toilet itself, and it was holding up the works.  Cost felt a little high for time spent with the problem, but I did use an online coupon for a discount, and the overall experience was excellent.  Would call Roto-Rooter again.

They arrived about 20min later than dispatch said they would. Moved a bunch of stuff around in our basement, then didn't bother to put it back after the work was complete. There were 2 technicians, I got the impression 1 was in training. Adam was nice, polite and knowledgeable. The other guy complained about my steps, the size of my basement and the work...kind of weird I guess. Despite the two of them it took forever to finish. End of the day I guess they fixed the problem, would probably use another service next time

Had a leaking kitchen sink faucet. Roto came out 3 days later... the plumber took one look at it and said your faucet is shot, you need a new one quoted us $380 to install a new faucet (not including the price of the actual faucet). My husband, who is not handy at all, YouTube how to install a kitchen sick faucet! He installed it in 45 mins! What was upsetting to me is that we gave the shot faucet to a friend and it was repairable (a loose bolt in the actual faucet). This faucet was only 2 years old and is designed in a way that you could repair from the inside. Instead of roto doing their job ethically and investigating further they just quoted us an insane amount for something that didn't even need to be done. The plumber, interestingly, said himself this is a fairly new faucet... very disappointed!!

STAY AWAY! My toilet started overflowing at 8pm tonight, so I called Rotor Rooter, a national chain. They said someone would be by within an hour. An hour later, a RR operator called from New York to say that no one would be able to come to my apartment until possibly 11pm. I told them to cancel the ticket--and then called someone LOCAL, who showed up twenty minutes later. He fixed the problem quickly (and cheaply), but right after he left Rotor Rooter called me THREE times in a row--even though I'd cancelled the job!--because suddenly they had an available plumber who was leaving a job in Apple Valley and just might be passing through your way. I let their annoying, unwanted calls go to voicemail. Never again.

I called around noon with a clogged main drain. Steve got to my house by 2:00 pm that day and had my drain cleared by 3:00 pm. He snaked the drain twice, cleaned out the floor drain, and replaced the cap on the clean-out. He was friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me on more. He seems to like what he does and actually thought the old drum traps in my house were cool (asked if he could see the one under my kitchen sink after he saw I had one in my basement). I would recommend them to anyone with drain issues. They were recommended to me by the facilities guy where I work.

Brian from Roto-Rooter did a great job for me.  He had to work on some old pipe work in our old South Minneapolis basement.  He made me aware of best case/worst case scenarios when working with these old systems and made sure I was comfortable with what he was going to do.  He successfully completed the work and left the work site well cleaned up.

I've had on and off again issues with tree roots growing into my sewer line so every couple of years I have Roto Rooter come out to clean out the pipes.   They do same day service if needed.  I got a 4 hour window and within the first hour I was called to say the plumber was on the way.  The plumber gives you the cost up front and then gets right to work.  Took about an hour this time to clean out the pipe along with an explanation.  Friendly service by the person on the phone and the plumber.    I'm sure I'll be calling again in a year or two.

Our upstair toilette was leaking into the kitchen so I called them. When he arrived, he looked around the toilette base and come to a conclusion that the toilette ring needed to be replace. The price to do it- 500.00. I just couldn't believed it! So I'm like, screw this, I'm looking up a video on YouTube and doing it myself. To my surprise, it was godamn easy. Something that easy to do but they will charge you so much!
After replacing the ring a couple of times, it still leaks, so it's not the ring. Gosh, if I had spent 500 dollars, it will be for nothing.
Find the small business guys, their focused is to help people and not all about the money. Why can't there be someone friendly who just wanted to help?

I set up an appointment for a range of 8am -12pm. I received a call 10 am saying I'm next and a technician should be there shortly. John called me at noon to say he is sending a guy at should be there within the half hour. I called at 1255pm stating that I need to leave for work at 130pm and I'm not happy with the service. The technician arrived and Brian #936 was fabulous. He knew I was in a time crunch and he immediately went to work. The problem was resolved quickly but the waiting and the lack of customer service was horrible. Brian #936 was wonderful!!! I repeat awesome but John lack of caring of me taking a half day from work, all he could say to me was I understand your frustration, Never did he say How can I help you It was just I can reschedule. How about, What can I do for you Erick, how about I take 20,30, 50, 100$ of your bill! Something? NOTHING,  Other than I'm sorry, should i reschedule? If it wouldn't of been for Brian I would of not used your service. He was great, warm, super friendly to me and my wife, and gave us useful information for the future. He was great and your customer service people were terrible. So I paid my bill in full (350.00) and would never use your service again, only if Brian was the technician.

We had a clogged bathtub shower drain. I was a little annoyed that I couldn't get an approximate estimate over the phone since this seems like a pretty easy and common problem, but that seems to be pretty common practice when it comes to plumbers I called.  At least there wasn't a charge to simply come out and provide an estimate like some places. We had a 4:30-8:30pm window which was nice so I didn't have to take off of work,  and they called at around 7:00 to say he was behind but on the way, and he did show up pretty much right at 8:30.  Darrell #3953 was very pleasant, respectful of our home by wearing booties, completely cleaned up any mess created, answered my few questions, and was extremely quick.  Only took him about 10-15 minutes to complete the job.  While I appreciate all of that- $289 seemed rather expensive for a 10-15 minute job to simply unclog a shower drain. (I did find the $50 coupon online so that helped) At least a ballpark figure over the phone could have prepared me for that cost and helped to aid in my decision before making him come out.  Satisfied with the work and happy with the plumber, just a little sour about the cost.

Such a shady company.  We had a main line clog caused by tree roots...common problem. The plumber came out and cleared it... great, next the camera guy arrived. Tim the camera man managed to spend TWO days screwing around trying to show us the problem. Finally, he walked up and down our property with his detector and literally threw out a price. He never did any measurements or explained where the cost came from. His estimate was $13,000!!!! But, depending upon what they found it could be close to $17,000.  He was shocked when I said I'd get another estimate. He wanted our credit card to start the process. I told him to get out of our house. Wasted 5 hours of my time between 2 days. Needless to say, we had a legitimate company come out and told us we were fine and to get the roots cleared every year.
Tim you should be ashamed of yourself!

Had the Worst Experience with Roto Rooter Plumbing.  Scheduled appointment for frozen pipes @ 9:30 am.  Was given service window of 12 noon to 4 pm.  Received a call @ 3:45 on saying running late but would call when in route.  1 1/2 hours later I had to call to check status and was told was on the way.  Got here at 6:30 pm and he took the water meter and pipe off and said frozen from City line and could not do anything.  Was charged $300 for service call and no work.  Will Never use them again. Service Tech Scott #4300 was not helpful at all and was here only 15 minutes.  Do not use them unless you want to get ripped off.

I called the company and told them I had water leaking in from outside because our faucet got turned on somehow. They sent a plumber to the house and said they would call 30 minutes  before they arrived and quoted me an approximate time frame. They  called several times to tell me they were running behind schedule (which I  appreciate), but they kept calling  my wife who was unable to answer the  phone. I called to correct it, but they continued to call her instead. The plumber ended up arriving 3 hours later than what I was originally quoted in terms of time frame. That's fine, things happen. He was probably a good plumber, but he talked down to me while he was here, and tried to charge me $70 after saying I contacted the wrong people for the job. He said I needed to contact restoration services. Actually, no I didn't. I contacted the service team, told them what happened, and THEY sent a plumber instead of recommending their restoration services. Additionally, the restoration services were free, so if that was the service I wanted, why would I pay $70? All I wanted was some advice/help on getting rid of any kind of water damage my own stupidity may have caused, and instead had one of the worst service experiences I've ever had in my life.

The plumbing pussies as far as I'm concerned

Called them out to two of my rental properties on two separate occasions
One which the basement was actively flooding and we waited for hours for them
Then...
They call me and tell me they couldn't do the job BOTH times either because they don't have equipment needed or it was too much of a Liability

left me scrambling to find a new contractor at 6pm on a Saturday
thank goodness for small business plumbers
Super disappointed
Will never recommend them
If anything advise people not to call them and waste his/her time

Called RotoRooter at 10AM on a Saturday morning - a 4 hour window was initially quoted. 10 minutes later we received a call that there was a technician in the area and he would arrive in 45 minutes.  90 minutes later Jeff (#2205) arrived, evaluated the situation, and the clog was cleared!

Jeff was extremely knowledgeable and professional - there were no doubts that his recommendation was the best first step (and it ended up working!).

Thank you, RotoRooter and Jeff!

Wipes that say flush-able are not. I learned something new last night.

The technician said my main line put up a fight, and I agree- he was there for almost four hours and still couldn't give me a 6 month guarantee. He pulled out the biggest amount of vegetation he has ever seen from such a small drain- it was pretty much a tree.

They were on-time, and even tried to come early which was nice for a change. They plan on coming back today with a camera to check out the condition of my pipe. Finger crossed its not horrible news.

Brian (#936) came out very quickly.  He was a typical sales person.  Talked about the evils of garbage disposals and cleared the drain out in a timely manner.  He did try to sell the RotoRooter drain cleaner product which was very pricey but he didn't push back when I said no.  Overall the price to clear a drain seems expensive but when you are in a bind, you do not get a say in price which is why they can charge so much.  Supply and demand in economics right there!

After having issues with our basement drain overflowing I decided to have Rotor Rooter come out. The main things I like about this company is that they were able to come out on a Sunday  and the technician took his time cleaning and treating the drain 3 times total. The only reason I did not give 5 stars would be the overall cost. I like to have at least an idea of the cost beforehand but the person I spoke with on the phone informed me that they cannot give quotes so I had to wait until the technician was already at my house to find out that it was double the cost I thought it would be.

Expensive to use for basic jobs. They charged $340 for a job most would do for $100. I called the company twice to find out if the drain cleaner was charging me correctly. They said someone would call back. No one called back. Use ANYONE else for your basic cleaning needs. In the Twin Cities, many plumbers will do the job for $100. Floor drains and main drains need cleaning, and it's not an emergency; just needs to get done. Roto-Rooter will not quote a price until they come to your house. They can, but they need to pressure you into paying for the service.

I had a horrible experience with Roto-Rooter - however the regional manager listened to my concerns and was able to compensate me for the horrible customer service I received. So I appreciate that aspect of Roto-Rooter, which is why I gave them 3 stars. I'm not sure if my experience was a proper reflection of their company or not....

We got a call that our rental property's toilet drain line ruptured, leaking sewage into another tenants kitchen. Which was horrible news. But the worst part, by far, was that in a moment of desperation, we called Roto-Rooter.

I paid a guy $500 to cut a 12 x 12 inch whole in the drywall. The guy should have retired 20 years ago, and worked at a pace that suggested this was his first time out of the house in months. He then connected me to some restoration guy (Dan), and connected me to some demo guy (Dallas), and connected me to a contractor guy (Nick) - all who he said worked with Roto Rooter, and would take great care of me and help deal with insurance. (Ironically, dealing with insurance has been the easy part)

None of these guys ended up knowing each other, kept saying well, you'll need to have to get a plumber out here to take a look. WHAT?! That is who I called. A PLUMBER.

Long story short, I ended up wasting 2 weeks (with tenants sitting with no bathroom or kitchen) with these guys. Each one blaming the other for the reason the job wasn't moving forward. All while I played middle man trying to straighten everyone out.

Oh - and the plumbing quote: $1500, just for the plumbing work.

Got two other quotes for $600 for the same job.

If you live in the twin cities, call Matt at Burnomatic. 612-366-1040.

Rotor-Rooter blew off my initial appointment and was late that next day. Then they gave me a price of $430 for snaking a clogged kitchen sink!! Their competition is less than half that, and I have hired another company to do the job for $170.

I called these guys after the main line backed up while doing laundry one night.   Fortunately I spotted it immediately as was able to contain it, but these guys were able to get me on the schedule for the following morning right away.   The tech was very knowledgeable and altho we disagree on some things like the best material for waste plumbing pipe and the style of cleanout to install, he was able to work around a couple of issues and get the line cleared out and flowing again.   He also offered a free camera inspection which I accepted, and those guys were able to identify the problem as well as some great information about work that was done to my house before I purchased it.    Overall, very satisfied with the experience and the price.

Called at 11pm for next day service.  Call answered by a live person who was polite and efficient.  Was given a 4 hour window for the service the following morning with a commitment to call 30 minutes prior to the arrival of the tech.  Got my call and shortly thereafter, Robbie, tech #3430, arrived.  He was in uniform, neat and polite.  He asked a few questions then let me know the expected costs and time involved to clear the main sewer line.  He went about his work, cleared the line, tested for unhindered water flow and cleaned up the area.  After putting away his equipment he presented the charges which were in line with his estimate and the expectation set by the website.  Good service that I would recommend and use again if needed.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing Services did a great job, they were very professional. The only reason I gave them only four stars is because they didn't show up the first day, so we had to go one more day without drains.

Needed my main line cleared because of roots.  I was given a four hour window for them to arrive, and a technician was at my house 45 minutes into the time window given.  The technician was very professional, and offered helpful tips to keep my drains clear.

Quick and minor septic tank issue that took the repairman less than half an hour to fix. The part was said to cost $110, which may be true but also seems rather high. The total charge: $575, and that's AFTER an initial quote of $675, then dropped to $600 before the final charge. The repairman mentioned that serving downtown Minneapolis is a problem as rationale for the crazy-overblown charge, though the number we called connected to the address listed here is just three blocks away. So, the message received is that Roto-Rooter - even its downtown Minneapolis location - prefers not to serve downtown Minneapolis at all, and if they must, they will charge you an absolutely ridiculous amount of money.
Do not use Roto-Rooter if you live anywhere near downtown Minneapolis, or your pocketbook will be punished. Look anywhere else for plumbing help.

And a follow-up, less than one month after the so-called repair by the person Roto-Rooter sent us:
The fix is already broken again. This was straight-up extortion by Roto-Rooter for terrible work at a wildly overblown price. Do not believe satisfaction guaranteed or any of their other false claims. Again, I would look anywhere else and hire anywhere else than this company. This was a complete flat-out failure. And still no response from the corporation.

Steve came out to fix my drain within 30 minutes of me calling Roto Rooter. He was very nice as he patiently worked through our very clogged drain. I would have given 5 stars for great service, but I took one off for the $319 price tag. I would highly recommend this company when you are in the middle of cooking and your drain suddenly clogs up on you.

More expensive than a different plumber I've used before, but went with them because this was after their business hours. Came quickly, worked quickly, was professional and friendly and conscientious of not tracking grime everywhere.

I called Roto-Rooter to unclog the drain in my laundry room.  I tried to fix it myself with no luck.  Brian #936 the service technician was able to clear the drain pipe as well as the trap.  I did not know the trap was clogged too.  He used a smaller snake to fix it.  He recommended ways to prevent future drain problems.  Roto-Rooter may not be the lowest cost, however they are fast and reliable.

Had Rotorooter clear kitchen drain.  Quick response, arrived in half hour on a Saturday. Josh #4348 did a great job and cleaned up after the work.  He made sure the stoppage was gone and that the lines weren't leaking after the repair.  Sink runs clean.  Service is a little expensive but worth it on difficult clogs deep in the drain.

I signed up for an appointment to have someone come look at a link under the kitchen sink. I requested Sunday as they advertise 24/7 service. When I received the confirmation email, the appointment had been changed to Tuesday between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. I called Customer Service and was told that they didn't have enough people working so couldn't help us until Tuesday. I agreed that Tuesday would be fine. Today (Tuesday) I started waiting for the 30 minute call ahead.  At 7:45 I called to see when the plumber would arrive. I talked to 3 people (with a lengthy hold between each) and was finally told that there was a note attached to our appointment request that they didn't have people working after 4 that did that type of work, and we would have to reschedule to between 11:00 and 3:00. Nobody called, no email, no text. I guess I was supposed to know by ESP that I needed to reschedule.

The person I talked to on Sunday should have been able to give me that information. At the very least, somebody should have called me today.  We have used Roto-Rooter before and they've done a good job, but we will not be using them again.

I agree with the other reviews that call this company shady. I called for service because I had sewer back up into my basement bathroom. My request was to have my sewer line clean so the sewer problem would be resolved. The technician who initially responded made an attempt to clean out the line and got his equipment stuck in my sewer pipe and had to cut the cable, further jamming up my sewer line.  Reinforcement was called in (Tim-which appears to be a recurring name) with a camera and video was taken of the horrific condition of my sewer line. Then a third employee arrived at my home and nonchalantly mentioned that I have a category three sewer contamination in my basement and potential seepage in the adjoining bedroom, not the entire floor but just the walkway. Then she departed without leaving a report of her findings or record of the testing that was completed. The sales rep (a.k.a. cameraman) then advised that I need to remove 6 feet of my front yard retaining wall and have a city tree cut down on my Boulevard so he could demolish two side walk panels and dig a 10 foot long trench to replace 10 feet of sewer pipe, all for the bargain price of $8300 (this cost did not include the city of Minneapolis' tree removal) The sales rep was pushing the earliest date for this emergency work to be completed, despite my suggestion to tentatively schedule the work for later did the best fit my schedule. I was also urged to complete my survey immediately after the catastrophic diagnosis and before the work was completed (which explains the very high ratings that Roto-Router receives). Despite all of the drama buildup I made several phone calls the following day, to include to the city of Minneapolis and I was given a list of reputable plumbers licensed and registered with the city.  Two days after my failed service by Roto-Router, one of those companies responded to my home and cleared my sewer pipes with high-powered water pressure.  They also recovered Roto-Router's stuck blade and 41 foot cable that further jammed up my sewer pipe. I was charge $500 for removal of all tree roots in my sewer line and I receive a copy of the video. They made recommendations on how to prevent recurring issues.  Prior to this work, the city of Minneapolis came out to confirm that the blockage was not in the city line. I was able to achieve my desired results without spending hours destroying my landscaping and retaining wall, destroying my sidewalk,  which affects more than just me in a very walkable neighborhood on the city bus line, destroying a city tree that I'd have to see permission for in my time off of work. I find Roto-Router's tactics to be borderline criminal. Shame on them!

Was quoted a $69 call out. Apparently, this was an incorrect quote. I called them after an hour to find an eta only to be told the tech had my phone number incorrect and the call out was actually $169. Asked for some compromise, but after checking with someone Jeremy who checked with someone they were not willing to rectify their mistake. A large company cannot cover $100. Remember this is them just coming to the house no work even done for that!

Also while we were waiting a subsidiary of them came to see if we needed help with our water damage?

I was unpleasantly surprised while doing laundry late tonight, when I went downstairs and found 3 of standing water in my basement.  It was clear the floor drain had backed up.  Definitely not what I wanted to deal with at almost midnight!  I called Roto-Rooter right away and was greeted by Monica.  She was fantastic!  She found a cancellation on the board and the technician happened to be in my area.  She said was able to schedule someone to come right out, and Al was here in less than 30 minutes!  He was very friendly and quick!  He confirmed it was definitely the main drain line, gave me the quote, and immediately started working to clear the line.  He was able to clear out a substantial amount of roots and once those were gone, the water was flowing freely.  He guaranteed the work for six months, which always makes me feel better.  Since this was the third time they've been out to help me with this same problem (over the span of 8 years), he suggested I think about their root destroyer.  I had never heard of it before, but am glad he told me about it!  I don't need to use it for six months, but bought some to have on hand so I remember to do it when the time comes.  All around fantastic service tonight!

I had literally tried so many plumbers to get a simple Bidet installed and was at a point where I had almost given up. As a last try, I tried roto-rooters and rest i history! These guys were just amazing! The came to my house within one hour with an estimate so low that no plumbing company was even close. The service was also excellent and the plumber Nathan needs a special mention here as he was extremely polite, punctual and prompt. Thank you Roto-rooter for keeping up such a great staff and service.

We called Roto-rooter to have some valves and faucets replaced. Their communications were very good and the plumber, Ray was punctual, serious and professional. He wrote up and explained the detailed estimate for the work. We decided to have it done and Ray contacted our city to have the water turned off on the day of the repairs. After arriving right at the expected time, Ray quietly got the four jobs done and courteously showed me the work and explained any differences from our former valves and faucets. He left the space very clean. This is our second experience with Roto-rooter and I highly recommend them for their professionalism and quality of work.

Everything in my house was backed up so I called at about 8:30 pm on a Tuesday night to get the main drain cleared (of roots). Josh (Technician 4348) showed up within 30 minutes of calling. He assessed the situation quickly and had the drain cleared within about an hour. He did it all without getting a drop of water on the basement floor.

A stressful situation was quickly defused and we were both on our way. I even found a coupon on their website for $50 off, which I was able to use for this service. All around a great experience. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a shady a** plumbing company who mistreats women, is overpriced, and is unprofessional ---  you've found just the place!!! This company has issues, people!  I can't tell you what to do with your life, but if I could I would tell you to NEVER call this company. They make your plumbing needs overly complicated all while being condescending. So have fun if you choose to hire these bums :)

Called the company serving south Minneapolis for a kitchen drain clog and was told that they couldn't give me a stated price for kitchen drain clogs but that the technician would provide an estimate when on-site.  A day later, the technician arrived, very pleasant individual, and didn't do any looking but simply stated that it would be $430 for the kitchen drain.  Absolutely thievery not to mention the business tactics!  The practice of giving an estimate when present in the home puts the homeowner in bind to pay the outrageous price or to send the technician away leaving the drain clogged.  AND the company absolutely knows the price they charge for each drain (the technician does not set the price) but do not inform the customer over the phone because most likely the customer will take their business elsewhere upon hearing the quote.  I stood by my principles and sent the technician away, refusing to pay such an outrageous price.

Overpriced, wouldn't give any quote over the phone, then got to the house and said it would cost $309 to clean out up to 100ft of the main line.  Finally talked them down to $269 by them applying a coupon for me.  Worked for a couple hours then left the job unfinished to go home for the night.  Then said they would come back tomorrow, except they weren't willing to come back unless someone was present which would require me to miss work.  Crazy corporate policy.  Gave up and decided to call another sewer company.  New company quoted and charged $170 for successfully cleaning out the main the next day (without me needing to be there)!!  I want my money back from Roto-screw you over-Rooter.

Such a shady business. I called them out to clear tree roots in the main and floor drain. Needless to say they found problems, my floor drain was clogged with some object, so he only cleared the main pipe. Of course greedy ass business would scam money any chance they could. And I WAS CHARGED $180 for the floor drain!!! How could you charge people for jobs you never finish doing??? The guy refused to leave until I agreed to pay $530 for root cleaning in both main and floor drain. Such a shame of a business. DO NOT USE THEM!!!

It's quite possible that a surprise clogged drain might have been where the saying caught in a hairy situation came from. I wouldn't know, it didn't seem to be hair that was our problem. My hair looks great.

But seriously.

We had made an appt with the fine folks at Roto-Rooter for a floor drain to get checked out and fixed. Our initial 4 hour window was drawing near it's close and still no word, so we rescheduled for later that day (today). We received the call that they were in the area and would be about 30 minutes from arrival. Fred (#4155), arrived right on time. We checked out the culprit drain together and he quickly got to work. His actual time spent fixing was rather swift. After going over what he did, classic plumbing issues/disasters and some other related tales, Fred packed up his things and disappeared into the night. And, by the appearance of freshly fixed floor drain, he was never to be seen again...

I had a backed up basement floor drain on a Sunday night. It had been a recurring problem. I cleared it once before and found lots of tree roots. But this night I didn't want anything to do with it. I called Roto-Rooter and was on hold for about 10 minutes, then after speaking with the dispatcher a technician made it to my home within the hour. After some paperwork, he got right down to business and cleared the pipe in about 40 minutes. The tech gathered his equipment and left no mess or tracks in the house. I hate to reach so deep into my wallet, but it was worth not being stressed out over sewer problems. Overall, I had a positive experience with this company. Would recommend for emergency service

I hope this is the right Roto-Rooter that responded to my hopelessly clogged main floor toilet on Christmas Eve. One hour of plunging did nothing and I called at 4 pm hoping for availability. It was almost 9 pm before the tech showed, but they kept me apprised all along.

How awesome that someone gave up most of their xmas eve to router out my toilet! I mean, I tipped well and I was his last job of the night, but the fact that my family didn't have to run upstairs or downstairs to pee on Xmas day was awesome!!  Excellent service in an emergency situation on a holiday eve!!!
