Gopher Sewer & Drain

Boy, these guys work hard!  Had a seriously clogged kitchen main drain from many years of accumulated thick, black sludge buildup.  I tried for weeks myself to clear the clog myself. I bought a snake from Lowe's, sulfuric acid from Menards, and even rented a power auger from my local Ace hardware.  But nothing seemed to work.  So, I decided to call a professional plumber.  I just had to, nothing seemed to work.  
First company I called  was Hero.  He came over and quoted  $1k to have it done.  I shooed him away and then called Gopher who said they would do it for $375.  And they did.  Not one plumber, but three of them.  They came over the following day and and after hour and a half of snaking & hydro-jetting hot water pressure, the clog finally broke through!  I did have to have an area of the pipe replaced where the thick clog would accumulate again & again.  So, that cost another $200, for a total of $575,, still cheaper than $1,000.  But at least now I have a sink I can use.  
All the guys worked hard & answered all my questions.  Even cleaned up and put together under sink plumbing together again.  I definitely recommend Gopher for hard work & good value and you will too!

They took all day, 4 trips to home depot, and left a disaster under the sink. There were plastic shavings left all over the floor, and chunks of the rotted drain were on the floor, the rug, and across the kitchen.  The only good point was they answered the phone on a Sunday. I will not call them again.

Staff did a awesome job with all the projects and it was a lot of work on short notice, clogged drain, installing toilet, and fixing garbage disposal.  They responded quick, friendly staff, very efficient, and very reasonably priced. I arranged for Gopher to come to my house to unclog a drain. Like a good citizen I was honest about the fact that I've currently got COVID, and the nice lady said it would be OK as long as everyone took the usual precautions. Well no one called between 8 and 12 the next day (the window I was given), and when I called back to ask where the tech was I was told that Gopher won't service houses with active COVID cases in them.

I completely understand, I just wish they had told me this off the bat. :-(

I called this morning and they sent Johnny out to clean my sewer line this morning in less than an hour and he did a great job!  He had to snake my line three times, showed me all the roots, made sure the water flowed smoothly after finishing the job and was super courteous.  Offered me more services, but wasn't pushy at all, respected my decisions. Cleaned up all the mess and left It better than before. Great local company!

Between my fiancé and I, we have used Pedro and Miguel three times. Living in the Twin Cities, it's hard to find good, quality service, but this family-owned business reassures you that there's still such a thing. Our most recent service call was during Super Bowl weekend. We cannot be anymore appreciative of their customer service, response time, and professionalism with each visit. They are so helpful in making suggestions and recommendations with diagnosis of our plumbing issues. This is the only plumbing company we recommend. You guys are life savers. Thank you so much. Excellent, prompt service from Pedro, the owner, and his staff member, Cesar.  

It was a clogged pipe, 1910s (?) plumbing or older, which snaked through a wall and then through an attic crawl space of my parent's ancient house.  The pipe had a curious set of elbows, too.  Not sure what folks were thinking 110 years ago.  It took a number of hours for the Gopher guys to cut and replace the pipe they could access, simplify the elbows, then snake and clear the length that was inaccessible.  

Short of remodeling the upstairs of the house, it was the best solution!  

The sink drains so voluminous now that we could divert the entirety of the St. Croix River into it and it wouldn't overflow a drop.

Highly recommend Gopher Sewer and Drain.  They are efficient, competent, courteous and friendly.  Very reasonably priced.  They did exactly as they said they would and the job was completed to our satisfaction.

Pedro came out to clean our drains, and from the very first time we met he was professional and seemed like he cared.

He is very knowledgable and helped educate us about our plumbing. We were replacing our toilets after this, and he even helped us install the new toilet! He kept everything tidy. We opted to have the camera done after the cleaning to see how it looked, and we were extremely impressed by how clear everything was (and it was really badly clogged before). He is on time, and does the job for a fair price.

I have worked with countless contractors over the years, and this is the worst experience I have ever had. My husband and I called and scheduled a specific service, was quoted an amount of $438 and gave my credit card to pay for: main line maintenance cleaning and a camera inspection following it. I was acting as a realtor to sell my clients home, and my husband as their general contractor. We needed to determine that the line to the street didnt have a major blockage, since a scope of the line had been done in the home inspection and showed something blocking it. I explained all this on the phone. When they arrived they started a camera inspection - the wrong service right off the bat. The homeowner was there and explained they had to clear the line before scoping it as scope had already been done. They told the homeowner they had to do a hydro jet cleaning and told him he had to sign for work to continue. He openly told him he didnt know what that meant but said ok if it was the cleaning I had scheduled (I had agreed to cover the cost to get the sale to go through.) They never explained to him this was a completely different and extremely expensive service that was not needed to ensure there wasn't a blockage. Gopher sewer added on and performed this additional service that cost over $900 on top of the $438. I was not contacted to authorize or discuss any additional charges, and then they billed me for more than 3 times the amount I agreed to- for a total of $1358. I attempted to resolve this in an amicable way via text, phone call (was yelled at and hung up on by owner Pedro) and email. The tech then called me and was very nice and calm on the phone and said he'd work on a deeper discount. I never heard back from them after that.  I kept attempting to contact their office with no reply. They then contacted an attorney to try collect their debt and are threatening me with a defamation lawsuit for posting negative reviews. I'm disputing this additional debt and paid the amount I agreed to of $438. It sounds like the owner has a history of aggressive and volatile behavior. I would not work with them, or get your work scope agreement in writing so they can't attempt to charge you extra.

I called Pedro on a Friday night at 6pm during the Covid-19 pandemic with a floor drain backing up anytime water was used in my house. Miguel at my house at 8am on Saturday morning and used an auger to clear my main sewer line. Pedro ended up having to come too because my house sits back from the street and they needed more than 100ft of cable to reach the clog. They were able to clear the line and replace the corroded cap in 2 hours and everything is draining great now. They were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them for service in the Twin Cities and will call them again if I ever need service.  It was cheaper than expected so that was great too. I'll be getting my line scoped later this summer and will be using GSD.

After some very disgusting situations with our sewer, we called gopher for support. They were amazingly helpful and ended up trying their best to clear our lines the cheaper way before having to go the more spends my route. Unfortunately we did need the hydro jet to clear the roots and debris but the staff was professional- quick and friendly! Highly recommend this family owned company.

You are great, I think what impressed me the most was you did not fix what was not broken... how many would do that. You saved me thousands, fixed a major problem and were sweet and kind to my pets. What can I say but THANK YOU

We used them to get our main line cleaned out after hearing horror stories from friends about drains backing up. They cleaned the line and did the camera thing. It was reasonably priced and Miguel and Pedro were nice to work with. We had drain issues in the basement the day afterwards. Although Pedro said it wasn't something they did, they still came back to fix it for free in order to keep their customer happy. Great service.

Did not hire them this time because I felt that there have been some changes in the way they interact with customers. My conversations with their representative on the phone and via email was somewhat disappointing. Then I talked with Pedro on the phone but I did not feel that he was even interested in providing their services. In addition, their pricing was outrageous compared to what I got from another plumbing company. We're talking about an estimate 100% higher than what I paid for. Not recommended.

We just bought a house and immediately had a problem with a leak under the kitchen sink that flooded our kitchen and basement. I never used Gopher before, but after looking up Yelp reviews, I called Pedro and he was at our home in minutes. He fixed the problem quickly and inexpensively, was courteous, and even helped us clear out our flooded washing machine. He was very generous with his time and expertise by answering some basic plumbing home owner questions for me as well. I would call them again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Pedro!

Had these guys come out because our main floor drain in the basement was overflowing causing our toilet and shower to back up. Paid an emergency rate since it was a weekend. Three weeks later the same issue happened. Was told the blockage is somewhere else now and I would have to pay more to have it fixed. Misdiagnosis should not be the customers responsibility! Especially when I was quoted on the phone that there would be no charge. In addition they damaged sheetrock and a storm door moving their equipment in. I am very disappointed in this company and would never recommend.

The good:
- initial visit was the next day (on a Sunday)
- the technician was honest and recommended that we do a hydro jet, which would be a more permanent solution
- solved my issue within two days of reaching out

The fine:
- $425 for hydro jet of kitchen pipe, seems this is pretty average
- initial technician was not trained in/able to do the hydro jet the same day, so we had to wait an additional day (with a clogged sink).

The bad:
- neither technician wore or offered to wear a mask, despite us being in the worst COVID spike to date
- neither technician called before arrival
- the first technician was about 30 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time, the second was like 3.5 hours early (arrived at 8:30AM but window given was 12-2)

I was happy they were early, but they told me they would give 30 minutes notice so the first time I wasn't home when he arrived and had to run home quickly.

All-in-all, my problem was solved and both technicians were polite and helpful. I'm about 50/50 on using them again, despite the 4/5 rating, given the communication and mask issues.

I had an unusual situation....water in the basement but couldn't figure out the source. Jake was very helpful and resourceful in finding possibilities for solution.  Very courteous, professional and helpful!

Pedro came out the same day, fixed our plumbing issue, and probably saved us $1000 by recommending the right fix, not fixing unnecessary plumbing like most companies try to do.

Be leery of the work they do. They used too small of a blade for my issue and my sewer backed up again 5 days later.  The techs were friendly, but also dented my walls and left marks in my stairway.

I couldn't be more satisfied!!  Pedro responded to my message in the evening and came next morning!  Professional, courteous and prompt. Edwin his helper was very good! Price was fair. I will certainly call Gopher whenever I need help included in their services!!

They were true to the quoted price. I had a slow drain in my utility sink and they were able to fix it in less than an hour. Zach was very helpful and friendly.

Gopher was anxious to set up an appointment with me to clear a shower drain.  We agreed on a two hour time frame.  They never showed up or gave me the courtesy of giving me call that they would not make the appointment.  Would not recommend.

We had a persistent problem with clogged kitchen sink, which no amount of drain cleaner would resolve.
Did some sleuthing around based on customer reviews, and was grateful that GSD was not only well-reviewed but able to come the same morning I called.
They got the drain unclogged quickly at the agreed price (no surprises) and had some tips for drain issues to watch for in the future.
Very satisfied, and of course a big help to have this annoying problem dealt with so capably before the holiday season.

Best service I have gotten from any repair company. I filled out an inquiry on Sunday afternoon to any number of plumbers who respond to remount a toilet, which was not an emergency. Gopher the first to respond (within an hour) with the price estimate and a list of five appointment windows for the next day to do the work. The price was fair, and he didn't pull the Estimate Fee required or minimum charge that so many others did. I kid you not when I say they all the others had a different angle that only added to the cost. Gopher was straightforward and honest. The team came, did the work, even found something else wrong with toilet mounting, fixed it, and didn't charge extra. These guys were great - they will be on the top of my list when I need plumbing work in the future.

They are a find! They respond fast, are fair priced, polite, professional, competent (and remove their shoes when they get in your house! Big deal for me, since I had to disinfect floors/carpet after different plumber we hired wore sewer stinky shoe protectors). We had them over the first time to install a new toilet. They came the same day! They were fast, fair priced, and left everything clean. Second time we called them, they fixed issues with a persistent bathtub clogging issue. Will definitely hire them again in the future.

I hired Pedro and Gopher Sewer to fix a drain that was leaking.  They agreed to replace the drain and fix the leak.  In the end they were not able to resolve the leak and admitted to not being able to solve the issue.  They then sent me a bill. I informed them that I am not willing to pay the bill as they did not and admitted to not being able to fix the problem.  Pedro has stated that since they did some work, even though did not finish the work, that there needs to be payment for what they couldn't do.   When he spoke to me on the phone and I again stated that there would not be any payment, his exact words were, if you want an argument, you will get a fucking argument.  I told him to repeat that to me personally and hung up.  Be warned, this person Pedro is not someone to trust, he will screw you over.

We just had some work done by these guys and I believe they gave an honest price and were thoughtful in their work. Friendly people that are fairly priced and the work seems to be good as well. Oh and I almost forgot, THEY CLEANED UP! Not every person you hire will do that. I had a guy once use one of My washcloths to clean some nasty crap out of a drain and then he set it on my shelf. So, we will call these guys whenever something comes up!

I called at about 1:00 p.m. because my sewer drain was backing up in the basement; the guy on the phone told me somebody would be there by 6:00 pm--and they were. Two really nice guys who got right to it, cleaned out the sewer pipe, and were on their way within an hour. I thought it was amazing that they came so fast, and had no problems working after 6:00 pm. The problems of my really old house didn't faze them. Thumb's up for Pedro @ Gopher Sewer & Drain.

Pedro responded quickly and did a thorough and effective job resolving our clogged drains. We had a different plumber out to fix the same problem a few weeks earlier. That plumber snaked the drain, and that helped for a short time. Pedro soon figured out that the line from the kitchen was majorly clogged from years of use, and if had to be blasted with water.  Simply snaking it was a waste of time. He also replaced a smaller line with a larger one. The amount of gunk he cleaned out was amazing. The money spent on the first plumber was a complete waste. Gopher wasn't cheap, but I feel like Pedro correctly diagnosed and fixed the problem.
