He has replaced a water heater for us and completed some other plumbing repairs in our condo. Very responsive and really nice guy.  Highly recommend.

I called after reading reviews on Angie's List. After my experience with the Trethewey Brothers, I had very low expectations. The phone was answered straightaway and I was told that someone would be there to meet me in a couple of hours. What? No appointment necessary? Awesome! Just what you want to hear when it's hot out and your a/c isn't working. Sure enough, someone was over right away. He was very pleasant and personable and, best of all, he fixed my a/c in no time with a bill that seemed reasonable.

Mike Torchio & Sons saved the day! I am a very happy customer.

I just had to call them because my furnace was not working. I had no idea what to do. Its freezing out and there are four kids in the house, so I was panicking, but they put me at ease by answering the phone immediately even though it was well past 5:00. They came out to the house within an hour and fixed the problem.  I am so grateful. They are the best.

As a new customer I was very disappointed.  Mike and Tom were recommended by a friend.  Although in person they were both professional and helpful, the problem stems from their responsiveness.  When you call them their answering service takes your message and pages the guys.  On several occasions they just either didn't call back or would call back hours later.  
At one point we had to call another company for fear of running out of oil and not knowing if MIke or Tom would come to fill it up.  The straw that broke the camel's back happened on New Year's Day when we woke up and found the furnace not working.  Because we figured that Tom and Mike knew the furnace I called them to give them a second chance.  Tom actually called back and said yes, we'll be over in about 3 hours as soon as he took care of the other two calls.  Feeling better I let my wife and guests know that the heat would be back on in a few hours.  One hour later Tom calls me and tells me that because we bought oil from someone else (the time they hadn't called us back and we called someone else to buy the oil) that he would not be able to come out to fix our furnace.  I explained to him that the only reason why we bought oil from someone else was because we were nervous that they weren't responding to our calls and we didn't want to be left empty over Christmas.  He persisted saying sorry but we should call the other oil company and if I'm still having problems the next day that they'd try to work something out....  You gotta be kidding me....  So I said Happy New Year to him and went ahead and called the other oil company who immediately came over, fixed the problem, and now has a new account.  I gave him a big tip and wished him a Happy New Year as well.  Personally if I was a business guy and someone threw me a second chance I would take it.  I would rather have a big tip, a happy customer, and some loyalty.  Subsequently my friend also dropped them after hearing what happened.

I have never experienced such terrible customer service than I have when called this company. It automatically bounced to something called automatic message service with a live person ( in the middle of the day! ). I asked the woman what kind of messaging service it was, because I had wanted to make sure it was the right place. She LITERALLY spoke back and said you SERIOUSLY don't know what an automated service system is? I said back to her are you SERIOUSLY being that rude to a customer??? she raised her voice at me and I hung up the phone. I have never been so disappointed in my life. I'm a young girl myself who works in customer service, and even on my worst days, I would NEVER talk to someone like that just because we're not face to face. I didn't even get to ask for their service. TERRIBLE. and I'm a happy person!!!!

Mike's father serviced all of the apartments we lived in when we were tenants in Allston, and all of the neighbors recommended the Torchio's when we bought our first house in 2004.  Now we own and manage lots of rental units around the city, with oil, gas, and electric HVAC systems and Mike does them all.  He comes on the coldest days for no heat calls, and on the hottest days for no A/C calls. He has fixed busted pipes, changed out steam radiators, unclogged drains and hooked up gas appliances for me.  His bills are always a pleasant surprise - very reasonable.  I have recommended Torchio & Son to countless others and I will keep calling.
