HISTORY
Established in 1975.
I started my business in Boston South End In 1975. The cultural mix and diversity of Boston has gifted me with the opportunity of meeting people from all over the world without ever leaving town. It is truly amazing when you listen to their personal history and what it took to get here. Plumbing jobs I have done range from installing an internal fire hydrant system on the USS Constitution-(Old Ironsides), a recirculation and filtration system on the Paul Revere Mall fountain-North End (both are Historical Treasures) to snaking drains, fixing frozen pipes on cold winter nights and many full gut rehabs on five and six story buildings with complete plumbing and heating systems from the basement to the roof. What makes it all so rewarding for me has always been the people I have met. Thusly, I have many mentors and role models. Doesn't matter how old I get, I learn every day.

Wayne was great! I had a clogged kitchen pipe and he came the same day to fix the clog. Within minutes of walking in, he was able to identify the issue with my kitchen garbage disposal and the issue was resolved.Very relieved to have the issue fixed and would recommend anyone looking for a plumber!

FIVE STARS! Wayne is great! We had just moved into a new condo and had an issue with our sink both leaking and being clogged. Wayne came in and quickly diagnosed the problem with our pivot assembly. He then came in and snaked a massive clog out of the pipes.
He laughed and took a lot of pictures on his phone (pictured), saying that he had pulled a big fish out of our drain. He made an otherwise gross process fun and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend South End Plumbing.
We called this plumber on Easter Sunday and we're so pleased he could come out promptly to fix a leak under our kitchen sink. I applaud his prompt response.
Unfortunately, after we paid him over 700$ (to replace the o rings and a faucet cartridge)- our sink has still been leaking, and since the o rings were replaced our faucet pressure has decreased to about 60% of what it was previously. When I called to ask him how we can move forward fixing this he said we need to replace our faucet, for $425. He then aggressively yelled at me and told me I ruined his night by calling him. He screamed at me about how I don't know about plumbing and how he did everything right and I assured him that I don't know about plumbing which is why I called him, and that we still had a leak so the problem isn't fixed.
He eventually ended up offering to replace the faucet for $185, which he said was the cost of the faucet. I told him I felt so uncomfortable after his aggressive yelling that we weren't likely to use his services again and would find someone else to fix it.
Wayne and the South End plumbing team were THE BEST! I called about a persistent noise issue with our toilette. Wayne was able to spot the issue instantly over the phone and took the time to explain to me how to go about fixing it myself. He was upfront and honest with me which is nice for a change and explained how I could fix it myself and save some money in the process. I was able to resolve the problem that same day with Waynes help. I highly recommend you give him and South End Plumbing a call if you have any related needs!

Wayne is incredibly helpful. He diagnosed the the problem quickly and solved it equally as fast. It was clear to me that Wayne takes pride in his work and pays attention to the fine details to make sure everything is done just right. As an example, when setting valves for water flow, Wayne explained to me when it is important to make sure the valve is not completely locked. He explained that this can lead to the valve becoming stuck, which can lead to damage in the future. Wayne also offered to show me what he was doing and explain why so that I have the tools to troubleshoot in the future if I need to. He also provided other tips with regard to plumbing that seem generally helpful to know (and I was unaware of) to avoid small things that can lead to costly ploblems.
Overall, I highly recommend Wayne. I will be using him for all future plumbing needs.

Just finished a service visit from Wayne in regards to a malfunctioning garbage disposal. He was prompt, polite and extremely helpful over the phone as I described the issue to him before coming by in person.
Furthermore since I had assumed that the disposal was broken he actually told me to hold off on purchasing a new one as he believed it could be repaired without a replacement (though he had some in his truck if I needed it). He was extremely knowledgeable in a wide range of brands and told me which were reliable and which to avoid.
He was very accommodating and took my calls on the weekends as well!
Very upfront with the cost and even gave me his two cents on other home projects I was considering saving me a bunch of future headaches and expenses!
Overall he's been one of the most upfront and honest services I've dealt with and i'll definitely be using him again for any future projects.

Wayne was very responsive and accommodating to my schedule. I had used him a handful of times before and he always is professional, prompt and honest. We had an old garbage disposal to replace (maybe 10 years old). Wayne was in and out within an hour, even while having to adjust the ground wire that was too short (previous installer). Wayne was great. He was in and out quickly, but before that he even tried to help me over the phone to save us money before it was determined he still was going to have to come out and fix it on site.
Additionally, he waived $50 fee off the bill. All on a Sunday and we had just called him Saturday afternoon. Reliable, great communicator and nice guy. Highly recommended if you need plumbing assistance.
I had a leak and didn't know what to do and my building's regular plumber said it would be two weeks before he could come by. I called South End Plumbing desperate and Wayne helped me stop the leak over the phone. He then showed up the next day, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Quick resolution and I'm grateful!

Wayne was exceptional in meeting every challenge that occurred when he came over to install a faucet and a garbage disposal. I got several quotes from other plumbers and Wayne was more affordable then the other quotes I received. In addition, Wayne recommended both the disposal I should purchase and the faucet prior to him coming over to install. He then advised me that he also carried those parts and could save me a trip to Home Depot, and just bring them over. I checked the two items online, and his price was the same as what was being advertised online with home depot. Wayne did a fantastic job with both installations. As my sink was in a very tight spot, wayne had to maneuver in order to remove everything, but was up to the challenge. I would highly recommend South End Plumbing to anyone in need of a plumber.
I cannot recommend Wayne from South End Plumbing enough. I had a plumbing issue with my toilet and he did not give up on the project until it was fixed, and fixed correctly. He was fast, efficient and affordable.
Highly recommend him. And yes he's actually a local and lives in the south end. Always great to support a neighborhood business.
I had an issue where I was only getting hot water in my shower. Wayne was able to come by within a day, fixed the problem and charged me what he'd quoted me over the phone. He also had a lot of helpful information to offer about my hot water heater, and the potential for installing w/d hookup in my 2nd floor condo and what that would entail. It seems he enjoys his work and is good at it and I don't hesitate to recommend his services.
Needed a natural gas grill hooked up. Took a chance to call on Sunday and Wayne was here within 2 hours!! Professional friendly and great job! Explained the breakdown of the fees (and there was no upcharge for sunday or showing up so quickly). kept his number as he will be the first I call for any other plumbing needs!!

Our water heater went just a week ago (last week of February, when it was super cold!), and it left our basement inundated! I called Wayne to see if he could replace our hot water heater that day. Thankfully, he said he could be there by 12pm, and he also offered the service of pumping the water out (for an additional fee). This was really helpful because another company told me they would not put in the water heater until I called yet another company to pump out the water from the basement. That would have left us without a water heater for 24+ hours! Wayne worked hard and got the job done by about 5pm. It was great to have hot water the same day. Extra props that he did all this on such a bitterly cold day!

THE BEST!!!!!
I found South End Plumbing on Yelp and called because my garbage disposal had stopped working and my sink was getting backed up. Wayne answered my call at 6:30p and by 7:00p my disposal was working again...and the best part...it cost $0!!!! Wayne walked me patiently through every step of how to diagnose the problem and fix the disposal on my own all over the phone.
I highly recommend South End Plumbing and will definitely be going back.
Wayne was extremely helpful in fixing our plumbing situation without ever stepping foot in our place! Our garbage disposal stopped working and we tried several times to reset the motor and clear the sink of blockages. When none of that worked I called South End Plumbing to see if they could replace our disposal. Wayne took the time to explain to me that the motor was probably functioning and that it was more likely a jammed disposal. He told me to go to home depot and get a disposal wrench and walked me through how to use the wrench to clear the jam. This advice saved us several hundred dollars and goes to show how Wayne really cares about his customers. I would highly recommend his services.
I made an appointment with Wayne for the next day at 7 AM to fix my garbage disposal. At 7:15 AM I called him and he had forgotten about the appointment. He managed to get to me within half an hour, but ended up charging me $155 to press a red button under the disposal that said RESET.
He was not even at my place for 10 minutes, and charged me $155, which he said was his hourly rate. Never using this service again.
Wayne is awesome! I called him to help me fix my garbage disposal and he was did an amazing job! Highly recommended, great service!

Beyond being incredibly knowledgeable and talented at his craft, Wayne is one of those rare plumbing masters that looks beyond the problem at hand, asks a lot of questions and really drills down to the causes.
I called South End Plumbing to take a look at a severe pipe banging issue I was having in my furnace system. Despite the fact that I am certain his work day was over, he returned my call in the evening, and discussed the issue with me at great length. I could tell from the nature of his questions that he really wanted to understand my system - and the symptoms - thoroughly so that he would know exactly how to remedy the situation.
He arrived on schedule, on time and went right to work correcting the problem. I was incredibly impressed with his diligence and attentiveness. He made certain to advise me on simple measures that would prevent the issue in the future and made certain that I understood the basics of his advice.
Wayne is an experienced and personable professional and rendered the impression that he was not just a plumber, but a friend who was genuinely concerned with your problem. He is a Boston native and if you indulge him, he will share with you a lot of his history of life in Boston through the years. (Very fascinating!)
I would absolutely recommend Wayne and South End Plumbing to anyone who genuinely wants to ensure that their problems are handled - correctly!

Wayne is quite the character! He's very friendly and funny and is an expert at his craft. He was very quick to respond and cleaned up after himself too.
I had a leaky shower and a clogged bath tub which ended up being something even more serious than it seemly was. He even drove to get the materials needed as well. He also taught me a lot of things, I didn't know about and how to maintain them. Will definitely call him again if a situation comes up.

I had a furnace that stopped working last week so I gave a Wayne a call. Wayne proved to be very knowledgeable, honest, and nice person to deal with. Wayne asked lots of questions to assess the problem and then went about figuring out the issue. All too often when I deal with furnace repair techs the first words out of their mouth is they want to sell me a new furnace, but Wayne was honest in his dealing and didn't try to sell me services or equipment that I didn't need. It was a bitterly cold day, and Wayne got me out of a jam. I will certainly be keeping Wayne's number handy should any other issues arise, and gladly recommend his service to anyone else that needs help with their furnace.
Wayne installed a replacement Symons valve for our new washer and dryer. He was responsive to inquiries via phone and text, shared helpful knowledge throughout the installation and charged a reasonable price. We will call him again for our future plumbing needs

Called Wayne to describe my heating problem and asked him when he can come out to take a look. Wayne is certainly experienced enough and said he can head out next day. I gave him a 4-hour window, pretty much the entire afternoon, and he said that should not be a problem. Next day comes, 2pm I text him confirming he is still planning to head out. He calls me and tells me he is fully booked and won't have time to take a look for a while. I took a day off to accommodate his schedule. Wish he would be more forthright.
I ended up getting a followup from Wayne who wanted to check in and see whether the service he and his team provided was still up to my standards. No doubt it was. I was informed to call Wayne up personally if anything should go wrong. He really has bent over backwards to accommodate me and make sure that the service provided was done well.
My original review said:
Wayne was just fantastic. Honest, earnest and willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure that the issue was fixed.
My particular issue was seemingly easy: a clog, somewhere in the assembly of my tub, was not allowing water to drain through. Wayne answered his phone immediately (I had not ever met him, I relied on Yelp) and came the next day (a Sunday no less!) at 9am to fix the problem. Turns out the problem was bigger than he had thought and, as the building is 150 years old, I'm not surprised.
As asked me if it was OK to call in an associate who had a particular familiarity with drains. The other man (Tony from Drain Flow in Hyde Park, who is amazing as well) worked tirelessly until they found the problem. And what a problem it was.
During this entire 2 hours they two men were here they kept me apprised of the situation. Finally after informing me that the issue was something much larger than either could fix that day, they told me that they could come the next day (a holiday) and fix it first thing. Amazing. After another 2 hours the problem was resolved and Wayne showed me the issue offending item that caused such damage in these ancient pipes. Absolutely amazing work and, not to mention, amazing skill and knowledge. I can see why Wayne is such an expert in his field, not only is he very smart and capable around the history of plumbing and the genesis of plumbing fixtures in houses (very helpful for the old converted brownstones in Boston), he has a very strong network of associates who can lend assistance should other issues (such as this) get in the way of success.
Wayne was absolutely a pleasure to work with, a real gentleman and very competitively priced. He kept every promise he made and kept me informed throughout the entire process. I would use him for as long as he practices his art.

My kitchen sink was clogged up and my disposal broke. I called Wayne on a Saturday at 8:30am and he was at my place shortly after 10! He diagnosed the problem and replaced the disposal. At each step, he explained what he was doing and why it needed to be done. His prices were reasonable too. I strongly suggest using South End Plumbing should the need arise!

I called South End Plumbing for a broken food disposal. Wayne came in the next day to check out the food disposal and agreed that it is broken. He then told me that he has a new one and that he can help me put it on. (At this point, he didn't mention the charge for this 1 FOOD DISPOSAL). He went back to his car, grabbed it and without asking me if I wanted to pay for it, he was about it change my food disposal. Then, I asked for the price and he told me it was $350!! for one food disposal!
FYI people, he has already charged me $40 for call in fee, $140 hourly fee and now he wants me to pay another $350 for a food disposal when I can get this on Amazon for most expensive $110.
Of course I told him about the price at amazon. He didn't even try to defend himself. All he did was telling me if I like it or not that's the price if Im not happy, he can just leave. Sure. So I asked him to leave and paid him his price $40+$70(even though he was only there for 15min).
This isn't the end of the story. He later on called me again and told me that he wasn't trying to rip me off and that that's how much all plumbers charge.
I dont know why he had to mention it to me again about this, but I just think its ridiculous that I have to pay $350 for one item plus hourly service fee.
Worst experience ever.
My suggestion: ALWAYS ask him before he tries to fix anything for you for a ridiculous amount of charge.

Thank you Wayne for providing me Tony at Drain Flow to replace my water heater. If it wasn't for you to refer (because you were flat out) I would be in a quandary for whom to call. He and Abe did a great job and thanks to you for the referral.
Had a leaky sink/dishwasher - the guys diagnosed our bad disposal as the problem, and very thoroughly explained the specifics of the problem. They replaced the disposal with a brand new one and cleaned up the area. Work was tidy and quick (less than an hour). Highly recommend them.
Wayne of South End Plumbing is great! He arrived when he said he would (7am!). Gave us an estimate, did the job (installed a cast iron kitchen sink, faucets and a garbage disposal unit), educated me on what can and can't go into the disposal, showed me how to reset and how to use the tool to jiggle the disposal in case something got stuck. He showed me how to clean the faucet aerator. He took great care to scrape off the old glue/caulking of the old sink before putting the new sink in. He offered to carry the old sink into the basement (he said it was a shame to throw it away). He tested thouroughly to ensure that there were no leaks. We asked him to look at a bathroom faucet that wasn't working properly and he fixed it for no extra charge.
I highly recommend him and we will definitely hire him again.
Wayne came out to fix my furnace. It is about 30 years old so I was concerned I would need to replace it. He knew the exact model and fixed it in no time. My neighbor in my Condo shortly after had a large plumbing co come out and they talked her into an 8k new furnace. It only took him 45 minutes so when he was finished he asked if anything else needs an adjustment i.e. Toilet. Great contractor.
Great job by Wayne. I had a difficult issue in an old Back Bay building. Wayne figured out the issue and fixed the problem. He knows his craft.

Wayne was fantastic. My garbage disposal was broken (or so I thought). Glass had accidentally gone down and gotten stuck. I called South End Plumbing to schedule someone to come. I got an answering machine and left a message. Wayne called back a few hours later and said he could try to help me over the phone for free! So he talked me through it (ended up buying an allen wrench from Homed Depot) and followed his advice. He even offered to come later in the evening if it didn't work. Wonderful and friendly service at no cost!

Wayne was great. I called him to help fix a leaking toilet after seeing his great reviews on Yelp. He was incredibly knowledgeable in examining the problem and fixing it. I especially appreciated that he took the time to explain the issue and show me exactly what was going wrong. He was on time, thorough, professional and delightful to talk with. I highly recommend him and will definitely use him again!
I called South End Plumbing to see if they could replace two water heaters in a 3-family building as soon as possible. I spoke to Patrick on the phone. I described the features that were important to me and he suggested one that I thought was great, exactly what I was looking for. They said they would be here by 6pm with two water heaters to install. They called at 5:50pm to say they were running late and would be there in an hour. They arrived at 7:30. Patrick was angry and said he should have charged me more. I showed him where the water heaters would go and he said he would do it, and it would be about three hours. The brand name on the water heater they brought in was not the brand name we had talked about on the phone. When we asked about that, they said they were honest plumbers and would not stand by and be called cheats, and they put the water heater back on the hand truck and started wheeling it away. I said tell me about this water heater -- maybe it has the features we discussed -- and I went to look at it but one of them stood between me and the water heater and said you're not going to see any of the numbers on this thing and they wheeled it out. On the way out they were rude to a neighbor who was just trying to get up the steps to his home. They both seemed very angry at me because they were here late in the evening, even though I only agreed to all the times they suggested. And nobody accused them of being cheats -- maybe the model they brought met all the requirements we discussed -- though I'd say it's kind of suspicious that they wouldn't even let me look at it after they had brought it into my basement.

I am a do-it-yourself-er that ran into trouble when replacing a toilet refill mechanism turned into a leaking supply line that required I shut off water to my entire unit. I called several companies that night, and Wayne was one who called the next morning. He was there by 1 pm, finished by 2 pm, including the supply line issue and the toilet mechanism replacement. The competing company wanted to charge a hefty diagnosis/service fee just to show up, never mind parts and labor. Wayne's fee was less than the competitor's diagnosis fee! This is the reason I have stopped using the competitor, and I'm glad I found an alternative in Wayne.
Helped me diagnose a bathroom leak over the phone. Don't expect him to do it, but if he does it for you, consider yourself lucky. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Stand up guy. Thanks for the help!
I needed a plumber to hook up my new sink, faucet, and old garbage disposal. After attempting to contact a couple of other plumbers who didn't answer or return my call, I easily reached Wayne. He arrived promptly the morning we agreed on. The faucet I bought was missing a part, but Wayne made a makeshift replacement to solve the problem. He also suggested a different garbage disposal than the one I had, and he swapped it out with a better one he had stocked in his truck. I got tips on how to care for and fix a nonworking disposal. If you are looking for an honest, experienced, knowledgable plumber, call Wayne!
Wayne was great--quick, no nonsense, solved all of the problems in my kitchen in under 20 mins, left his workplace spotless.
Called Wayne at 2 PM after I realized that my sink wasn't draining and I thought I needed a new disposal. He showed up about 3 hours later (impressive!) and was ready to replace the disposal... ended up being able to fix the one I had instead, and also checked my bathroom pipes and faucets while he was there for no extra charge.
I had a problem with my kitchen sink the day before the memorial day weekend - which apparently is a very difficult day to find a plumber to take a call. Wayne called me back the same day, helped me troubleshoot the problem over the phone including looking at some photos I sent him of the situation, and he told me how to fix it since it was reasonably easy. The result was my sink was fixed before the long weekend, and also he did not charge me since he did not need to come in person.
Wayne of South End Plumbing is wonderful; he is friendly, honest and quick to respond. After having tried to get a new washer/dryer combo installed from Sears, i quickly found out that our water valve was broken and needed to be replaced before Sears would return. Soon after learning the bad news, I called South End Plumbing and Wayne told me he could stop by to access the problem the same day. Once he was able to see the problem, he asked me when I would like to have the water valved fixed and I then scheduled an appointment to which he showed up promptly to. Wayne not only fixed the water valve, but also extended and replaced the out of code dryer vent tubing and had Bob Jones stop by to fix the electrical outlet that was falling out of the wall. In other words, Wayne goes above and beyond to get the job done right. The best thing about Wayne is that he calls to follow up on the plumbing. What more could you ask for in a plumber?
