Sillari Plumbing & Heating

I've had them do 3 different plumbing jobs for me over the past few months and every experience has been excellent.  They do great work and they're hassle free which hasn't been my experience with other plumbers in this area.

I have a troublesome boiler and have dealt with Sillari P&H several times.  I lack home repair savvy and could easily be taken advantage of in these matters, but Charlie Sillari has always been completely honest (and affordable).  Last week, for example, I had an issue with a 9 year-old hot water tank:  Charlie could easily have suggested that I replace the whole thing, but after solving my problem he told me not to invest in a new one as my existing tank had a stainless steel tank that could potentially last several more years.

Sillari P&H is super-responsive.  They have a 24 hour answering service, so even when I've called at 6am, I get an answer, followed a call back from Charlie himself shortly thereafter.  He's generally able to make it to my home by 8:30am or 9--which is exactly the kind of thing you want if you're having a heating problem in winter.

I highly recommend Sillari P&H.  Before landing on Sillari, I had tried several others in the Somerville area.  None were as responsive and they generally could not diagnose or solve my heating issues.

Sillari Plumbing is responsive, honest and timely.  Charlie always gets back me within a reasonable time frame and gives good honest advice.  He is a pleasure to work with.  Having a plumber be responsive and show up when he says he is going to is worth its weight in gold.  To add on to that Charlie is pleasant, friendly, clean and efficient in his work.  I will continue to recommend Sillari to my friends and neighbors in Medford.

Called Charlie about some banging pipes I started having. He knew exactly what the problem was on the phone. Guessed that we had bought a new front loading washer and dryer. In old buildings, these cause a water hammer. He told me exactly what I needed to buy to fix the problem and told me how to do it. Extremely nice guy. He went above and beyond in helping me and at no monetary benefit to him. I will definitely continue to use Charlie when I need a plumber.

I used Sillari Plumbing to have a gas stove installed.  The work was done timely, correctly and at a fair price.  

I think two of Charlie's strong attributes are his timeliness and his honesty.  I called him 4 or 5 times over the course of the work and he always called me back within an hour or two.

I'm confident that one can trust Charlie because he actually turned a very lucrative situation into a very cheap situation, showing his honesty and integrity.  I had originally asked for a price to run a gas line from the meter to the second floor and have a stove installed.  When he came to start the job, he found an gas existing pipe in the wall and recommended that we test it to see if it could be used.  To our amazement, the pipe could still be used, and that is exactly what we did.  If we had gone with the original plan, I would have had to pull out cabinets and pull down sheet rock.  Instead, he added a couple t-fittings and a few feet of pipe and the job was complete for a few hundred dollars.

I found a radiator had been leaking right when the weather started to turn cold. In calling several other companies, most did not call back, or were booked up for at least a week. Charlie called back within a couple of hours, and was able to stop by that same day, fixing the root cause of my leak. He communicated clearly throughout, was polite and professional, and left the work site very clean. Having had several bad experiences with plumbers over the years-not showing up, charging exorbitant prices-I wish I had known awesome plumbers like Charlie do exist. He will be my go-to person from now on.

Charlie is hands down the very best plumber there is. We've been in our house for over 20 years and during that time he's done countless gas and water-related repairs in our home-- including water heaters, gas dryers, stove hookups, boiler repairs, sump pump installation, and more. We inherited a plumber with our home who was a total clown.  Thankfully our neighbors recommended Charlie for a big project.  When he came to look at it he instantly saw a different problem then the other plumber had diagnosed and was able to do a comprehensive repair/reconfiguration that will give us many more years before needing a new furnace.  

Recently we're having major issues with our steam heat and have been talking to Charlie almost daily - he calls back immediately and knows our house better than we do from work he did on it over a decade ago.  I swear this man has a mental map of the plumbing on every house he's ever worked on.  Charlie is friendly, prompt and very responsible.  He has essentially made a suggestion against his own interest in recommending we not spend more money maintaining an old steam system and switching to something more low maintenance and efficient. I can't ask for more than that!

Charlie Sillari responded right away with my stove installation.  I appreciate his honesty, expertise and sound advice.  I highly recommend Sillari Plumbing and will refer Charlie to my friends and family.

I am very impressed with Charlie's promptness and quality of work. We had a problem with our shower and Charlie was able to come out on the same day that I called and fix the problem. Charlie is honest, helpful, and prompt. Highly recommend him!

I have been using Charlie over the past 8 years for both a rental property and the house I live in: wheather it was a leak from a shower that extended into the basement, calls from the city about increased water usage, the need to install a new faucet, you name it. He is incrediblely professional, responsive, on time and gets the problem fixed each time. I can only recommend him highly.

Our hot water heater gave out the Saturday before a long weekend. We'd never had the heater worked but Sillari was listed as having installed/serviced it for the previous owner so we called them. They were incredible. We called on Sunday, someone came Monday afternoon (on a holiday) to look at it and provided an accurate quote. We had a working heater in by 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The unit was still under warranty and they handled everything with processing that as well.

This past winter, our overly complex steam boiler/superstore hot water/dual hot water loop system malfunctioned, leaving my kids (and me) with no heat. A succession of plumbers (expensive, inept, ept but not familiar with electrical, ept but absolutely refusing to *touch* electrical) finally fixed the blockage in the plumbing - but left us with intermittent hot water.  We'd been babying it along since May, trying to get various people to call us back, with no luck.

Last WEdnesday night, the hot water heater refused to turn on at all. Whatever was wrong was the final straw, and it wasn't coming back.  And again, nobody answered their phones, and I got the ever-so-fun experience of giving my kids a stone-cold bath.

Thursday morning, I started the broadcast bat signal of Help, I have a household with children and no hot water!  Less than half an hour after I called him, Mr. Charlie Sillari was on the line, calling me back to get a thorough description of the problem. After some brief, not-insulting discussion, including, I don't do electrical, but I partner with this person who does all my electrical bits for our boiler installs, I have someone at my door fixing my hot water heater before NOON.  And then, after the electrician had been and gone, he *called back* to check and make sure everything was OK and functioning.

I know who *I'm* calling this Autumn to get my boiler serviced.  Thank goodness, I finally have found a plumber who treats me like I know when my heat is still busted, and who will make sure it STOPS being busted without blowing smoke.

I called their number and left a message with their answering service. That was a few weeks ago and I never heard back. So I called another plumber and he called back and showed up to do the work. Why bother having a message service if there's no point in leaving a message....?

I have used Sillari Plumbing for several jobs at my home over the past few years. I always received a prompt response and problems were repaired quickly.  Work quality has been excellent and fees have been reasonable.  I have recommended Charlie Sillari to friends and will continue to do so..
