HISTORY

Established in 1952.
The true origin of Pann Home Services goes back to the early 1900's when Maurice Pann, grandfather of current company president Michael Pann - migrated to the U.S. from England. According to family legend, Maurice - born in Kyiv, Ukraine - had planned on traversing the Atlantic via the Titanic, even going so far as attempting to purchase a ticket. But as testimony to his good fortune and that of succeeding family generations, the ill-fated luxury liner was already booked solid. Maurice wasn't a plumber, mind you. In fact, he made his living in the junk business...and we don't mean bonds! But he also had the good sense to sire three children, including son Robert, who got things rolling, plumbing wise, in 1952.

I had an issue with my heating system during the extreme cold temperatures we experienced recently. The company I usually use was not available immediately, so I made the mistake of calling Pann Home Services since they had availability. They charged $250 for an emergency visit and that is typical and reasonable -- that part was okay and understandable. However, they charged an additional $474 for turning up the pressure. No parts, no actual repairs, literally just turning up the pressure. So I paid $724 in total. I felt like this was way over-priced and they were taking advantage of the situation because I didn't have a choice in an emergency situation. It still took 2 full days to get back up to temperature which is clear there's still a problem. But I cancelled my follow-up appointment with them because I'm afraid I'd end up paying thousands for additional bandaid fixes. I'll need to make an appointment with the company I usually go with instead because while they certainly aren't cheap I know their prices are still more reasonable than what I'd probably be charged from Pann Home Services again.

A very long positive review to counter all of the negative reviews.

in 2021 we purchased a 2/1 in a 3 story walkup built in 1918. The home inspection showed many plumbing issues that would need to be addressed after we took possession of the home.

When we were ready to deal with the multitude of plumbing issues we called Pann out to take a look at the most pressing issues.

The first thing we had them address were the original plumbing fixtures on the clawfoot tub including the curtain holder. Keep in mind we called them during the height of the pandemic to do this job. They answered the phone which may not sound like much, but we had called 5 other plumbers none of which answered the phone or ever called us back. They sent two techs to install the plumbing fixtures and the rig that holds the shower curtain. They did a fantastic job.

We hired a contractor (not Pann, big mistake) renovate the kitchen. Once the renovation was complete and we moved back into our home we discovered the bathtub was draining very slow.

We called Pann out to see if they could unclog the slow draining tub. They discovered we had a clogged drum trap. Grant called me into the bathroom to show me what debris came out of the drain when they attempted to clear the clog with a pressure method. It looked like sand the same color of the grout in our newly renovated kitchen.

We were told the drum trap would need to be removed and replaced as it was under the floor with no access to a clean out.

What followed was nothing short of amazing on many levels.

First Pann sent a full team of plumbers (Grant and a helper and John the project manager and Dave the lead carpenter) to inspect our attic, the downstairs unit and our unit. They did this to determine the most efficient was to access the drum trap to replace it. It was determined the best way to access it would be to go through the bathroom floor or our unit. This entailed removing every fixture from the bathroom to have full access to the floor.

We received the bid that was an eye popping amount, until we figured out this repair was going to be the equivalent of an entire bathroom gut job.
It was a comprehensive detailed bid because a comprehensive detailed inspection had been done prior to issuing it.

We were not prepared to gut the bathroom yet but at this point we had no choice, so we proceeded.

They figured it would take about 10 days to complete from start to finish including inspections.

I had contact with the project manager John every single day. He answered all of my questions, helped me to make decisions, never sounded rushed or irritated, was professional, kind, funny and considerate of the hardship we were experiencing.

We would have no access to the bathroom including the toilet while this huge job was being completed. How to live without a toilet for 10 days? Get a 5 gallon bucket line it with a trash bag, fill it with kitty litter and put a toilet seat on it to us as a make shift toilet? Hold it and hope Starbucks opens soon enough and that no one is in the bathroom when you get there? NOPE, Pann left the toilet intact, and worked around it which was not easy for them. When they did pull the toilet, it was only out for 1 day while we waited for the inspector to come. Then they put it back until they needed to pull it again to install the new tile flooring.  No other company would have done this to accomodate us.

When they were ready to cut into the floor to access the drum trap they discovered 1 1/2 inches of solid concrete covering the entire bathroom floor. They had to bring in a huge diamond saw to cut through the concrete. Three grown men and a huge diamond saw in a 6x6 bathroom.  Loud, dusty and possibly dangerous work.

Once the old plumbing was removed (yes the drum trap was full of the grout that was used in the kitchen renovation incase anyone reading the this review was wondering if Pann just made up an expensive problem to fix) and the new plumbing was installed they had to mix concrete and drag it up 3 flights of stairs to lay it down over the giant holes in the bathroom floor.

When it was time to install the tile we had ordered on our own, they discovered the tile was defective. At this point I told them to just install it because we have no form of transportation other than public transportation. We had no way to go choose new tile in a timely manner and it was closing in on Christmas week. That's when John sent me a text that said, give me a call to discuss the tile situation.I told him why I was ok with them installing defective tile.  He said no, no, Dave will take the tile back for you and then go to our tile vendor to show you what they have available so you can pick out what you want.  Dave, did all of this ON HIS DAY OFF.

When the job was completed, they cleaned the place up nice and tidy. Not a spec of dust, not a finger print no sign they were even there accept we have a whole new bathroom. Thank you Dave, Grant, John etc!

I used to depend on Pann.  In the past I've had good experiences with them.  Not the past one.  They charged almost $1000 to fix two toilets in my house, and were unable to fix one.  It took two visits, with the same technician, and he didn't even remember being at my house and was almost like he needed to figure out everything all over again.  When he left he said it would have been better for me to get a toilet at Home Depot and have them install a new one for $300.  Why didn't they tell me that before NOT fixing my two toilets and charging $950?  Do not recommend.

The bottom line is that they're untrustworthy. 2 stars instead of 1, because they're very good about answering the phone, which certainly is not true for their competitors.

I foolishly signed up for their contract/protection plan a few years ago. I then had mixed experiences with them depending on who showed up. The folks actually doing the work range from competent and friendly to total creeps who might really mess up your house and appliances, at least one of whom I believe vindictively damaged my central a/c necessitating $$$$ repairs. They will definitely try to overcharge you, so if you do call them do your research first. They've quoted me 10x the price for some stuff, but when confronted with cost comparisons from other service providers, they suddenly realize they entered the wrong billing code.

They also advertise a free yearly ac and heating checkup before the start of the heating or cooling season. Unfortunately they never had availability during these periods so the few times I had a checkup they happened toward the end of the relevant seasons and about half the time they did a visual inspection (just looked at the outside of the unit) and then asked me to sign their forms. This wasn't even worth my time off from work for the appointments, let alone what I paid for the service.

I got a phone call from a manager regarding my review. She clarified that the $1500 that the tech mentioned was for a brand-new toilet+installation.

I guess they just have very different pricing compare to Amazon (amzn.to/2CAHWXB).

Again, they do good work. I am not complaining about the service. But they are definitely overpriced.

What a horrible experience. Technicians came to repair my toilet. They removed the clog and charged an exorbitant amount. Now having talk ken the time to get other quotes retroactively I realize I was overcharged by several hundred dollars.

There were smears of brown left on the bathroom on floor and tub and a smalll trail of water over the entire first floor that dropped from the equipment they used.

I was prepared to accept being overcharged and for a sloppy mess that needed to be disinfected. Hi were the toilet overflowed the following day. My nanny unclogged with a plunger and ddisifected the bathroom and didn't tell me. The next day tthee same thing happened. I called asking for someone to come out the next morning. I was told I would have to pay again. They only guarantee for 24 hours. Even though it was not functional within 24 hours and a toilet I just paid nearly 600$ no longer works because it was 48 hours until it was reported they expected me to pay again.

I have never had such terrible customer service with any service industry. I am disgusted and will make certain no one I know will ever use this company.

Pann Home Services did a good job on an emergency furnace repair and some related long-overdue maintenance. Their 24-hour support line arranges a call back instead of transferring directly, but they called back almost immediately and had a technician to me within about an hour. The technician was able to get a faulty sensor working again and our heat restored immediately, with full repairs two days later. The technician gave a thourough assessment of what maintenance was recommended and what was absolutely necessary to address the immediate issue.

(Given that I hadn't done maintenance since I bought the place three-and-a-half years ago and my expectations of how well the previous (landlord) owner maintained it before then, it wasn't surprising a fair amount was needed. Some of the valves and connections were visibly in bad shape.)

Service was prompt and professional. Wasn't a cheap job, but was less than I'd feared. They offered me $100 off at technician's discretion (I obviously don't know what the policy is behind that, but worth asking about if the experience of [insert disaster here] has made you realize that you're behind on expensive maintenance). The emergency call fee was $225, but they at least told me that amount up-front and offered the option of scheduling a non-emergency appointment first thing the next day.

We literally sat there laughing about the quote that was sent to us, which was easily twice as much as the other higher end quotes I had received for a small bathroom remodel.
The guy who came out to assess it and give me the quote also vibed like a classic narcissist relying on some weird personal bravado which just made me extremely uncomfortable. Its said that confidence gets people to trust you so maybe sending in their narcissist gets some people to pay them such truly absurd amounts for their services, idk man... Just keep looking for more estimates for the job is what I can tell you for sure.

I called to schedule to have a stove exhaust hood installed, replacing my old one. The person on the phone took my information so she could schedule the installation. I got a time and date and then I asked for the pricing. I assumed it would be time and materials. She stated that they priced by the job. Which means no estimate or hourly rate? All she could tell me was there is a $69 charge for the visit. I pressed again for a price. She said she did not have that information. I declined.
So this means they just charge you whatever they feel like when they are done with the job? Sounds like a great gig if you can find victims that will bite.
Moving on...

It saddens me to write a bad review, I wish our experience was better.
We live in a home with a water heater in the basement. It was about 9 years old, and we had a minor leak, maybe one cup of water a day.
I contacted Pann because their sticker was on the heater. I sent pictures of the heater, with close up pictures of the serial number etc.
Amy corresponded with me and we talked on the phone, she asked me about the previous home owners and said we were okay with warranty.

What she didn't tell me was that a minor leak from a water heater is a big red flag, should be addressed ASAP, and the water supply to the tank should be shut off. I learned that the hard way, too late.

It was the week of the 4th of July, so we made an appt for Friday morning after the holiday. The technicians arrived around 7:30am, we went downstairs and found the basement all flooded, with ankle deep water :-(

The technicians were professional, knowledgeable and experienced. They managed to remove the old heater and install a new one in just a few hours. They did not go out of their way to help me deal with the flood, since that's not their job (but it would have been an opportunity to go the extra mile and show that helping people in distress is more important than money).

The main problem was the sketchy warranty. That was the only reason I called Pann, instead of my trusted plumber. Handwriting on the Pann sticker read 10 year warranty, but the technician said it was meaningless, anyone could have written that. So I had to pay the full price for a new one, and their price was about 10% higher than my plumber's.

I called their office while struggling to pump water out, and move stuff to dry in the back yard (and of course then it rained...)
I said I was not happy and asked to talk to the manager. He did not call me back, he talked to his technician on site and agreed to match the quote I got from my plumber. That was an honorable gesture, but it made me think- why was their price so high to begin with? is it nice to take advantage of people in emergencies?...

Our basement is half finished, and the water heater is very visible. The old one was nice and white, the new one is grey, much less aesthetic. Nobody asked me about the color of the heater before it was brought.

And then the technician wrote with a sharpie on the top front of the heater, the installation date and warranty. Why not put a neat official company sticker, that will not be questioned again in the future?..

The flood caused damage, paint peeled all over the concrete floor, rugs and wood furniture were a total loss, stuff in cardboard containers was a wet mess. It took me days to clean up, dry and dehumidify. Fortunately not enough to trigger an insurance claim, but enough to make the aftermath quite a headache. Again, it could have been avoided had the office rep told me to shut the water off and have the heater replaced promptly.

An important lesson here- have a utility pump ready in your basement, and make sure the outlets are GFI. When the extension cord falls into the water, a GFI can prevent en electric shock and save your life.

My impression was that the technicians are good professionals and good guys. They are well organized, equipped and capable. The things that need to improve are communication of urgent measures on the phone, and clearer and more honest warranty.

Had a plumber come out to give me an estimate on moving a washer/dryer into my unit. Received no response and had to call twice. Finally heard back from a carpenter who informed me my request would cost an excessive amount which, the amount was expected to be alot because it was a big job. I still haven't received a quote after 4 weeks. Nothing about my interaction suggests professionalism and I would advocate exploring other companies. I literally paid $70 for no work and a staff member insinuating the amount would be more than I could afford (a staff member whom had NEVER spoken to or had any idea of what I was willing to pay).

These guys have done two jobs for me so far, and I plan on using them for more work in the future.

1. They replaced my whole HVAC unit, as well as my hot water heater--upgrading it to an on demand system. This whole job took about 3 days, and the guys in my home were very respectful and sweet, even with my cats, ensuring they didn't get out. When we had an issue with the sensor, the head Pann employee at my home project came back after work hours to make sure that we had heat for the weekend. So wonderful.

2. When we had a freeze and pipe burst this winter, Pann came out ASAP and fixed the issue before there was a ton of damage. They calmly explained how to avoid this in the future, and were in and our cheaply and in less than an hour.

Michael Pann runs a good, honest business, and I refer them to everyone I know!

BEWARE. These guys definitely tried to take advantage of us. Told us to refill our leaking freon in the fall (it's half full and they were going to charge $550 to fill it up) or find a leak, which they quoted as $1800+. I told them no way and called another HVAC guy, who came out and quoted me $300 to fill the freon and told me it was a waste of time to find a small leak, thus saving me the $1800 altogether. They even forgot to turn our system back on when they left, which the next technician found. Totally unprofessional.

Summary: Not only tried to rip us off for a job, they actually LIED and INVENTED a problem that was blatantly non-existent to try to fleece us out of more than $700.

Story...

I called about a shower that was not giving hot water. They charged a $69 visit/diagnostic fee, which is a lot and does not apply to the actual job, but I accepted it. After coming by, they said I need to schedule a water mains shutoff to the house (I live in one of three units) because they couldn't just turn off water to the shower itself, and that I needed to order a new shower valve online for them to replace next time for an installation fee of $460. Again I thought it was pricey but reasonable...

Before they left I asked them about a bathroom faucet that had low cold water pressure. They said they'll take a look, and pretended to attempt to turn off the valves under the sink to shut off the water. Then, they said that those valves were corroded, couldn't be turned, and need replacement. Without being able to shut off the water they'd again have to wait until the water mains shutoff. They however, strongly recommended me to replace those valves in addition to fixing the faucet problem next time. Total quoted cost: ~$700

NOW I was a little suspicious. My bathroom plumbing isn't that old, and given that the only thing they did during this $70 visit was attempting to rotate those valves under the sink, I decided to see myself just how stuck they were. To my utter surprise, both valves turned smooth as butter, easily closing and opening all the way under the force of merely two fingers. And what's more, after opening one of the valves just one extra turn, the water pressure problems was immediately resolved. Total time and cost for someone with zero plumbing experience to fix: 1 minute and $0

Having quickly fixed something that was quoted $700 by a seasoned professional, I figured that as a naturally gifted plumber I should delve into the shower problem myself. Of course there was still that pesky problem of shutting off the water mains. Fortunately, after unscrewing the face plate from the faucet handle (30 seconds of work which they did NOT bother to do during the diagnostic visit btw, I wonder why), I found not one but two valves that can shut off both hot and cold water to the shower! Who could have known! And, after following some youtube instructions that took about 10 minutes and a single wrench, I can finally take a hot shower again! Total time and cost? 20 minutes and $0 (well, except for the valve that they told me to buy online which turned out to be totally unneeded. But I'll be returning that...)

Hilarious that they have a Code of Ethics on their website. They were polite at least I suppose.

I'm giving this company 5 stars because of how wonderful the owner of this company is and how dedicated to customer satisfaction he truly is. My first experience with PANN was horrible because of the technician we had in our home. However; Mr.Pann personally got involved and ended up sending his top team to resolve our issues and continued to follow up personally numerous times to ensure our happiness. Mr.Pann stands by his business and his quality and he wasn't going to let a poor technician tarnish that reputation. I was told the technician was fired.

I can honestly say that as a plumbing/HVAC company; you can be 100% fully assured that this company will never leave you hanging and they won't rest until you are 100% completely satisfied. I would absolutely call this company again to do work in my home. Great owner operated companies like this are few and far between. Impressive!

Yikes!  I am really surprised by the recent string of bad reviews for the Pann company (and all within a month.... hmm...weird.  Maybe from a competitor?), but I used them twice in the past, and since I recently sold my condo and was going through all of my invoices for past work and found mine, I wanted to review them.

Are they the cheapest?  No.  But will they show up, not trash your bathroom and do a terrific job?  YES.

I found them when I initially called Trethewey Bros. to come and install a new toilet and pedestal sink; they called about 30 minutes before the agreed-upon time and said they just wouldn't be coming.  Um, OK.  So I called around, found the Pann company, and they did a fantastic job.  A year later, when my idiot upstairs neighbor overflowed their entire bathroom (on purpose, go figure) I had them rip apart the entire ceiling, and also re-tile my shower at the same time.

Once again, not the cheapest job, but it was done the right way, and when my condo sold, there was not one single issue that came up in the home inspection relating to the bathroom.  Hard to say that for a lot of 80+ yr old condos in Boston.....

This review is not based on work done but on the difficulty in getting a quote from them. Delayed for weeks, told that it would be sent soon, that there would be a call back,
etc. Frustrating and seemingly more than just disorganized (last time I tried to get a quote, they lost the house plans and never got back to me... I wasn't desperate to do the job then so I let it ride)  Couldn't take the risk that the job, like the quote, would also drag on now. When we did get the quote (too late), it was cheaper but, I think, you get what you pay for. btw: job was a biggish heating replacement job.

Initially we had some issues with communication - calls not returned as promised, etc.

But we did have some sink plumbing done and it seems to be good quality.  They were able to merge a newer faucet with some older knobs to maintain our kitchen's aesthetic.

Service technicians were prompt to arrive and 24 hour service is convenient.

I would say this is a decent company, just be aware that their communication is not the best.

Electrical and Carpentry decent. Painting, had to complain to get decent results on the second try. Flooring was overpriced, didn't buy. Tried AC maintenance once, way overpriced! Stay away from these guys - they will rip you off. Had a problem with our HVAC unit and they were local so had them come out. Not only was the $69 fee not going to count toward future services, they tried to charge us $2k to do a leak inspction. Every other quote we got was around $600. They also tried to get us to buy some sort of $100 memebership right off the bat to get discounts on services, which only makes sense ifbyou pay their insanely jacked up prices.

Pann Home Services repaired a water heater that they had installed for me almost four years ago. The repairman Pete is a professional and smart technician who completed the work in a timely manner. Initially I thought it was totally repaired. However, this complicated repair of a Geospring hybrid energy saving unit was not successful because: 1. the GE unit has a history of problems since it was the first year of production and had a long record of complaints by other customers and 2. the initial installation made it difficult to repair the hybrid component. Since neither GE nor Pann would take responsibility for full repair it is now repaired only to work as an electric hot water heater. This was disappointing to me because I thought I was going to save money and use less electricity.

Called them to come cap a leaking gas pipe in my house.  They tried tightening down the existing cap as a stop gap measure and said that should do it, it didn't.  (They should have put some pipe dope on the threads like the next guy did.)  Gas was still leaking and they refused to come and do anything more with it, other than replace all the gas lines in my basement. Pretty straight forward... We called a couple companies for a quote to have a Central Air System or Mini Ductless System installed in our home.  A Gentleman came out to take measurements and see our home's floor plan and square footage.  He did not have a business card to leave with us nor a brochure of the two systems that we were interested in.  He was kind and appeared to know what he was talking about.  But we felt like we were being upsold at the same time.
Didn't matter though...
We never heard from him again.  No quote was emailed as promised and we never got a phone call to follow-up.  Nothing.  I didn't need to chase him down... I had other quotes lined up and we signed paperwork with another company only yesterday.
I would not recommend this company.

While they are prompt and have good office staff to make appointments, their technicians are quite untrained and lazy.  I had high end faucets that needed to be rebuilt.  The first technician said the stem needs to be replaced, though it was not cracked.  The company said that they should just be rebuilt as these faucets are designed to last for a long time.  The second technician who came was very reluctant to rebuild the faucet and the number of times he said that he could give no guarantee and I was better off replacing the whole faucet, didn't leave me with much confidence in his ability to repair. Also they quoted $365 to install one faucet and thats the member rate.  I got another plumber to rebuild two faucets and install a third one, all for $450.  These guys are way overpriced.

Don't do it.  Polite, professional, but you get totally screwed on the price.  1/2 hour and an inexpensive part replacement (less than $50 online) for the HVAC unit, and it cost nearly $400.  Yeah, isn't America great again!

I guess I am not alone with my bad experience with these crooks.

I had a problem with my thermostat and the specialist from Pann, came by and told me it was a complicated problem and it would require $1500.00 to fix. YIKES!! I cannot afford that.

Something did not seem right, as I had the same problem a few years back. I refused his services and hired someone else who did the job for $95.

These guys are true criminals and should be shut down. What about the elderly who trust these licensed contractors??

I complained to the board who licenses them. WE MUST ALL COMPLAIN TO THE BOARD OF REGISTRATION.

My air condenser were low on Freon. When they came, without even looking at the condenser the person started taking me thru their pricing. They will charge 120-140 dollars for one pound of freon, and on top of that they will charge me a diagnosis fee of $165 dollars and dispatch fee of 75 dollars.

I felt like it was too expensive and wanted the guy to leave (BTW, the dispatched employee was very nice, he said he was following the company's procedure). He said he had to let me pay the dispatch fee of 75 dollars.

what a rip off !! Literally I would be paying a fee for them to come here to go through their pricing list without doing anything. After my argument with him, he finally went to the condensor and measured the freon level (took 20 seconds).

I had a very bad experience with them and definitely not recommend the company to anyone.

I just got charged $597 for the installation of a garbage disposal.  Part cost no more than 100.  It took an apprentice about 30 minutes to install.  The first time, the disposal didn't work, so he had to rewire it.  Before the installation, the apprentice and his sidekick (no idea what he was supposed to do except write up the order) left without explaining that they were going to drive from Cambridge to Woburn to get the disposal.  They were gone an hour.  I think I got charged $500 for about 30 minutes worth of work.  Would never use this company again.

Horrible customer service from Steve in sales. Yelled over phone to my family. Overcharged us for a water heater. Be careful and consider yourself warned.

I had the same issue as Kim - they came out for two separate estimates on a deck and an underground gas line to a grill/firepit.  Very nice people and obviously knowledgeable.  They said they would have quotes in 5-6 days.  Two weeks go by, I follow-up. One of the employees gets back to me, stating that my estimate would be there the next day.  Never heard back and still haven't gotten an estimate about three months later. Bizarre. Luckily I found other contractors willing to take my money.

Kitchen sink sprung a leak on Tuesday, and Thanksgiving is on Thursday so time is of the essence. Called Pann as needed a quick response. $150 call out fee, prepared to pay as need it fixed ASAP, lady who answered the phone wouldn't give an estimate of charges over the phone though. Pann plumber gets there and quotes $1050 to replace a faucet. Even though I needed it fixed in a hurry I am not going to pay $1000 for the pleasure of having that happen. Please everyone avoid these crooks!

I had a bad experience with Pann a few weeks ago, when I needed a toilet and faucet replaced. It took days to schedule, they had to come back again because they didn't have the parts (despite the fact that I had given them all necessary information about the items to be replaced) and it was pricy. Then the leaks started. One of the plumbers cane back last week, told me it definitely wasn't his work,  but that the silicone seal on shows was shot.
Long story short- they had replaced the faucet wrong, broke a valve, caused the under-sink cabinet to become waterlogged and ruined, water everywhere, floor buckling.
The guy that came out yesterday was awesome- Luis T. He is my go-to plumber from now on. Not only did he own up to the other guy's mistake, he got Pann to give me a year's subscription to their premier service for free and they will be replacing my cabinet at no cost. If I was writing only about Luis I would give him 5 stars. But the prior nonsense was so awful, particularly the first plumber disclaiming all responsibility, I had to knock it down.

So, they backed out of their promise, denied that their plumber caused the leak and pretty much accused me of lying. Expensive and dishonest- I do NOT recommend!

We had someone come over to give us a quote for a gas line extension and fireplace installation. 5 weeks later (and after calling them twice and emailing) we still haven't received a quote for the work. We took an afternoon off of work for nothing. Unprofessional.

They may be good -- even great-- but very strange how they work:  Only repair gas fireplaces, for example, on Thursdays.  So unless you can take a day off from work and wait for them on a Thursday, better go elsewhere. They said We repair all sorts of appliances, so we are really busy.  But I'd never heard of a company that dedicates certain days to certain repairs.  Very odd -- be aware if you want to work with them.

Terrible service. waited 8 hrs first time, no one showed up. Called to Reschedule and waited 4 hrs the following day, no one showed up. I called , they said something went wrong in the system, but assured on time service with the 3rd appointment. Guess what: no one showed up the third time. I simply believe they are a terrible and unreliable company.

A little disappointing, wanted to stay local so called a few different places, got quotes about a hot water heater replacement. Didn't get a quote from PANN but figured at the worst it would be about the same. Kept telling me the technician would give me a number, even when I asked for the worst case scenario how much it might cost. It turned out to be about $500 more than any other quote. Probably my own fault for not getting number upfront.

I just had Pann Home Services install a Bradford White Corporation Hot Water Heater Tank for my 2nd floor apartment.  Rich T did one of the most professional jobs with detailed explanations of the proceedings and a perfect installation service.  I highly recommend this plumbing technician. The older Bradford White Corporation Hot Water Heater Tank gave way after 21 years of perfect service without a single service call.  I ordered its replacement with a brand new Bradford White Water Heater Tank.  Pann Home Services was professional and the dispatch team sent out Rich T and another technician the same day I called them.  In fact, they were at the house within 1 1/2 hours of my phone call. The installation went perfectly and the professionalism was as good as it gets.  I highly recommend Rich T and Pann Home Services.

Very happy with Plumbing service. Technician showed up as scheduled from dispatcher, and did quality work. Technician also told me challenges of performing a non critical item, that we both agreed should not be undertaken, thus appreciate honesty to not do the work.

Luis came from Pann Home Services today and fixed a leak.  He also advised me on the grouting in our shower, which needs fixing.  He is such a polite and professional guy.  He was quick and efficient on the job.  Two thumbs up!

Horrible!
Horrible!
Horrible!

I moved into a home with a propane fireplace and was converting it to gas.  Gas company came in and hooked up.  Plummer came in and hooked up. Still, we smelled gas.

WEEK 1:  (10/14/13)
called a fireplace company - said two weeks to send someone out.  Called Pann, one week someone could come out.  Went with Pann.  BIG MISTAKE!!!!!

WEEK 2:  (10/21/13)
Week later guy showed up in last half hour of scheduled time 8-4:30, (AFTER I CALLED at 3:30 PM and they said oh, well the guy was on his way....the guy showed up at 4 PM).  After half hour, guy said there's a part we need because it was leaking gas.  Estimate over $600 and I had to pay over $300 on the spot.  Said part would be in within a week and they'd call.

WEEK 3:  (10/28/13)  -  NO RESPONSE SINCE LAST WEEK
I called.  After going through a couple of transfers some guy said they did not see the order, but he would check and call me back.

WEEK 4:  (11/4/13)  -  NO RESPONSE SINCE LAST WEEK
I called. After a couple of connections, talked to Mike.  I wanted a refund.  Mike said the part already left Lennox and somewhere in New York.  He would refund if I chose, claiming he would eat the cost of the part.  I decided to wait since it was in transit.  (BIG MISTAKE #2) Mike said he would contact me ASAP when the part arrived.

WEEK 5:  (11/11/13)  -  NO RESPONSE SINCE LAST WEEK
Called back and demanded a refund of my over $300.  They said I would get a call back.  Mike called back and said he told me the part did not ship yet but he could not check because the company was closed for the holiday....and that is what he told me  the other day.  I reminded him that LAST WEEK it was NOT what he stated.  He fought over what he told me, that they were waiting for the part to originally ship last week and he had to check to see if it had shipped at all, but he couldn't since they were closed ; which to me, was absolutely false!

It has been four weeks since they supposedly ordered the part and after multiple promises the part was shipped  we are still told it has not shipped yet.

Again, I have asked for a full refund.  remains to be seen if they still try to stick me with the technician bill for spending well less than an hour finding a leak.

I will have to repay this again with another company, for the technician, but to me, it will be well worth it.

This company is clueless and seems to me that they tell their customers whatever it takes to hang up the phone.

Had a small bedroom converted into a laundry room and Pann Home Services did a fantastic job.  The service personnel were courteous, effecient and friendly.  They took great pains to do a great job and cleaned up after themselves every day.  It was no disruption having them here as they worked virtually so quiet most of the time.  Any problem and they were back here right away.  Would recommend them to everyone I know.  Thanks guys!!

We have not had good experiences with Pann. We initially used them for plumbing issues in our two family house and found them to be expensive and there is no consistency in the contractors who come for repairs. Some were adequate and some were just plain incompetent, none seemed to be very good. We have since changed to a local plumber and find them to be very good and responsible and we are satisfied. It seems as if Pann is a big clearinghouse that contracts unemployed plumbers, regardless of ability,  and that their main focus is  to sell you an ongoing maintenance plan. Whenever I called I never got the same person and there does not seem to be any accountability within the company.

I would definitely not recommend them, they are overpriced and very inconsistent.

About 4x as expensive as the 2 other estimates I received. And they charged more just to come and to an estimate. They were polite but I definitely felt like they were trying to take advantage of me assuming I was just a gullible young single woman. I imagine they do excellent work but that they overcharge and the 1 star is because I felt disrespected and like they were trying to take advantage of me. I;d never even call them for an estimate again.

Pann Home Services does not keep their promises....always bids 3X what other companies bids, and generally does poor work.  I purchased their preferred monthly plan and they still do lousy work and charge you money every month.   Even when you try to cancel they put road blocks in your way....please fax...please e-mail, I cannot do it by phone.  A TRULY TERRIBLE COMPANY!

I give them one star not because the service they provide is low quality but rather for the ludacris rates they charge.  Instead of charging by the hour as most contractors do, they have a book of fees.  If they need to put a hole into a wall to expose problem wiring or a leaky pipe, they charge $250.00.  For each hole.  It doesn't matter that this can be done in a matter of minutes with nothing more than a hammer or utility knife.
They came out to fix a rusted pipe that had finally blew on a saturday.  Their emergency service fee is $195 just to come out.  Add to that $250 to punch a hole in the wall to access the pipe and the bill was already $450 before any actual fixing had been done.  To cut out and replace a 2 inch section of easily accessible copper pipe the book required the plumber to charge me $950 (!!!!!!!).
They were the only plumbers to answer my call on a saturday and I needed to have the water turned back on as soon as possible so I had no other option but to accept this extortion.  The total bill for about two hours of work and $20 in materials came out to $1400.
I will never use them again and I recommend that unless you burn hundred dollar bills to light your cigars, find someone else to get the work done.  Sure they have a fleet of service professionals who can be there at a moment's notice but is this really worth paying them hundreds of dollars per hour?

We had them come out to evaluate an AC unit.  The service charge of $70 to come to the house included only just that. I specifically asked if there were any other fees, such as an hourly rate.  They said it would be based on what needed to be done.  Once they arrived, however, they charged another $140 just to run a diagnostic!  And then tried to charge us $300 for a part that costs $50.  We had already paid too much and so we sent them away.  After speaking to a number of other companies it appears that those prices are way out of line.  I never write reviews but felt compelled to warn others that their charges are exorbitant.  I definitely don't recommend them.

The response was timely and the work was well done however the price was huge and the approach not honest. I neede to have installed my new gas dryer, I was told on the phone that they cannot give quotes on the phone, however if someone comes by and does not the work I'm responsible for a fee of about 70$. Someone came and quote was very high however at that point I would have lost 70$ anyway and therefore I had them do job. A simple connection of the dryier to the existing gas line cost me 310$. They even asked me to sign  a piece of paper where in case of legal dispute I cover all thei legal expences. Stay away if you don't want to spend a fortune.

pann left me with that bad feeling you get in your stomach when you are sure you've been taken, like the classic dishonest car mechanic who does unnecessary repairs and overcharges for parts. i guess it could have been worse, they did actually did the repair in a timely manner, and it was on our heat during the winter, so kind of an emergency. i just wish i'd had more time to research alternatives, because i have to think there are better choices out there.

Very disappointed with this company.  Called 2013 spring for a Spring tune-up on my central AC unit.  The technician's advice was to have the blower clean (the most expensive job).  I agree to have the job done given the fact that the previous winter my energy bill was very high.  A week later we had a heat wave and the unit failed.  The technician to do the most basic checks.  I called the company to check the unit again and they found that the unit was very low in Freon.  I contracted another company to do the job who offered to do it $140 less.  I also had signed up for their PANN protection plan.  I was basically hooked for 6 months.  I called to cancel the plan and the representative told I needed to send an e-mail to cancel the plan.  I send the e-mail to cancel and the next month they still charged my credit card.  Shame on this company.  They only care about making money out hard working families.
