Jack Welch Jr. has was born & raised in the South Boston/Quincy area. He raised his 4 kids in South Boston, coaching their many sports teams.
Jack is a well known member of the South Boston neighborhood, always helping people.
He continues to contribute to his community through many charitable contributions and fundraisers on his own, and with his social clubs, Dorchester Yacht Club and Spindles Car Club.

My wife and I live in Boston and were dealing with a rodent issue - specifically, we narrowed down point of access to a spot under our dishwasher. Jack sent a plumber to our home within two hours of our call to remove the dishwasher, and sent another plumber back later in the afternoon to reinstall the dishwasher after we had an opportunity to address the problem. Both plumbers were on time, professional, polite and courteous. While our issue wasn't a enormous plumbing problem, Jack empathized with our situation and we appreciated his willingness to help us so quickly. We were pleased with the overall level of service and will call Jack back in the future.

I can always determine a good contractor/service company from a bad one by how well they keep their appts and communicate. Jack Welch failed on both. About a week ago I arranged a visit from them for an estimate on some bathroom remodeling, but they never showed up. I called and got a lame excuse from their employee Brian. He told me he would call later in the day to reschedule. Never heard from him. I can't imagine doing a major project with a company that can't keep their appts and or return phone calls.

Was referred to them by my building manager. Took time off work to meet Jack on a Monday morning 8am for a quote to install a gas line on my deck. He never showed or called. Tracked him down later that day and rescheduled for the next day 8am again. This time he didnt even come up but sent his assistant to come look. Basically just eyeballed the area, wrote down nothing and said they'd get back to me with a quote. A week later i called and txtd Jack twice with no quote or response. Total waste of time!

Zero stars if I could. Set appointment for 10 AM received a call that he was running behind and would meet me between 11 and noon. never showed up called and didn't return my call. It's a wonder he has any business at all. Thanks for wasting my time

Just had a bunch of work done. Absolute professionals, very reasonably priced, and the quality of work is of the highest standard. Brian came in, ran gas lines, fixed our waste pipe, and replaced a fitting on our water heater. GREAT JOB!!! CALL THESE GUYS!

Called JW plumbing to have a gas stove connected.  My fiance had to take a half day out of work because the kid showed up 1.5 hours late.  A few days later we started to smell gas.  National grid came out and said the stove wasn't connected properly causing it to leak gas.  It took about 6 months but jack finally refunded the cost.  I would not use this company again.

I called this company just over 5 weeks ago because we had no heat.  Jack came out the next day, very nice guy.  He barely looked and said it was a certain part.  Said he could bring it tomorrow.  Shows up the next eve, part isn't right.  Comes back a few days later with another part.  Still not right part. He said the company was out of business and this part was very hard to find.  I went to ebay and bought the part and had it sent over night.  We get it in and he installs it.  We are at over 15 days at this point.  Turns out it wasn't that part!  He says it must be this other part.  He calls around to see if anyone has it and says it's pretty easy to find.  Comes a day or two later...installs it.  Guess what?  It wasn't that part either!   By this point its below 30 degree's outside, wife is pregnant and we have a young child in the house.  He calls in a completely different company.  They can't fix it either.  We aren't told anything, no return calls....nothing.   Finally we called National Grid - they are clueless!   Last night, 10pm, I google another company and they were out today at 2 pm - I had heat at 4pm!  I am thrilled now.  

I would like to give this company a good review, honestly...but the lack of communication and no return calls....and lack of ability - sorry Jack.

Brian at Jack Welch Plumbing was great! I called needing them to come out and look at my water heater, and they responded same day with a next day appointment. He was responsive and helpful during the process and efficiently fixed my water heater issue.  Pricing was very reasonable and I received a bill in my email which sent me to an easy to use digital payment system. The whole process was professional, efficient and overall great! I definitely would recommend them!

A bit of confusion in when they were to show, but they did show, diagnosed issue, and had electronic invoicing which was quite nice.

Came through quickly on a Saturday morning when we woke up to a flooded basement and water heater that had gone. Had it changed within an hour of calling him and removed everything.

I use Jack Welch Plumbing whenever our South Boston condo has an issue.  Jack always answers - regardless of the day or whether it is outside of normal business hours.  He is generally able to get a plumber over to us within a day... which is exceptional service anytime but even more so in the busy winter months.  His plumbers are knowledgeable, polite, efficient and honest. I highly recommend him.

I own a condo in Boston but live in Connecticut.  I have had Jack Welch out twice for issues regarding the toilet while a tenant was living there.  Both times they've been quick and professional - usually available to be at the condo within an hour.  Very convenient because he was able to mail the bill to my CT home for me to pay.  Would recommend them.

I called Jack Welch for help with toilet issues - one was leaking water and one was not flushing properly.  His guys came over the next day and fixed both problems in just over a hour.  The guys explained the problem and what they were doing to fix it as they worked, which was helpful.  Price was reasonable.  Jack Welck was recommended to me by a friend and I would recommend his company as well.

I had a very different experience from the folks who gave this business 1 Star. I had a problem with my toilet and Jack sent someone the same day. A week and a half later, I had the same problem. Again, Jack sent someone the same day. And didn't charge because he gives a 1-week guarantee on the work. And even though it was passed that deadline he still didn't charge me for the second visit.

Finally I replaced my toilet altogether and Jack's guys were 1 hour late, but within the zone of tolerance, and Jack told me that on the phone that mkrnjng

The best part is, he picks up his cell phone every time and gives you good guidance on when the guys will be there. Some plumbers I've encountered in South Boston don't answer texts or voice mails. It is good to see someone who cares enough about his business to answer the phone when it rings!

Pricing was reasonable, too. In line with what I would have expected.

UPDATE
Last month my shower head stopped putting out water. I don't know much about this, but it seemed like the water was going somewhere which worried me. It was late in the day but Jack had one of his guys out the next morning, first thing. It turned out to be a more complicated job but another guy was in the area and came to help finish the job.

Called Jack for a small bathroom issue on Saturday morning and was here within an hour.
He fixed the problem in no time, fixed another small issue which I though could have been bigger and also suggested a low cost fix to a clogged drain vs using something else!
Gave me a discount for being an easy fix.
Fair and honest.
I will call Jack again!

Called Jack to come look at my water heater.  He made an appointment with me the following day at 3pm.  The next day I took the afternoon off from work for him to come over.  Our scheduled appointment time pasted so I gave him a call at 3:30 asking if he was on his way over.  He said he was busy and would call me back in 10 minutes.  Surprise, surprise... I never heard back from him again.

I can understand if someone is held up at another job however its not very professional to make a client wait around and never show up without informing them of his change in plans.

Jack is wonderful!! My pilot light in my furnace kept going out on me. On a Friday night, Jack was the only plumber to answer my call (I called 5!). He came over within half an hour. He was very polite and nice. He did a very professional job replacing the pilot and charged a reasonable rate! It's been about two weeks and I have not had any problems with the furnace since. I would highly recommend him for a repair.

We bought was we thought was a brand new Navien dual furnace/hot water heater. It was installed by Ed Martin, a worker from the Jack Welch company.  Not long after instillation, we were waking up with no heat and hot water. The only way we could get any heat or hot water was to use the reset button. After many times of doing this, we felt it was time to ask for another company to take a look at the burner. Thats when we found out the furnace was registered and had originally been installed in a building in South Boston by the Jack Welch company in 2013. We tried to rectify the situation with both Ed and Brian at Jack Welch company and all we got was fingering pointing. Now we are left with a non working refurbished furnace that we paid full price for. We would never recommend this company! Bunch of SCAMMERS!

Jack and his team are great. They're extremely responsive and you can always get Jack on the phone. Our water heater suddenly gave out on a Friday evening and by Saturday afternoon, Jack had a new one installed. That is exceptional service in my opinion. Jack's pricing is very reasonable and the quality of work is outstanding. We use them for all of our plumbing needs. I highly recommend this company!

We called for something simple to be looked at and we were told we'd hear back in 15 minutes. We never got a call back. Called another place and got an appointment right away. A simple, Sorry we're too busy. Would have been fine.
