Gomes Plumbing Heating and Cooling

Our 42 year old Peerless steam gas boiler heating system had broken down and I needed a replacement ASAP. Called a few contractors but Frank was by far the most responsive and provided a reasonable estimate for the job. He came out the next day to take a look. Arrived on time as well.

After accepting his bid for the work, he got to work the next day in the replacement of the boiler and finished it in a day.

After installing the system, some of the connections to the existing piping was not totally secured properly and had steam escaping/minor leaking. I text Frank on Sunday and received a call back quickly to schedule a fix on Monday morning.

Monday morning he came on time and got the issue resolved. No more leaks.

Thanks Frank for coming in in a pinch and getting the job done. He and his team are respectable and professional. Would call again.

My garbage disposal stopped working and when I called Gomes, Frank was kind enough to walk me through resetting it. He could have put in a service call (and I would have gladly paid for it), but showing me the simple reset, rather than making a quick buck, speaks highly of how he does business. I'll definitely call again if a need arises.

Frank was great. We needed a gas stove hook-up. He was easy to reach, responded to all my questions and showed up when he said that he would! Very happy with the service. Would definitely use his team again.

Called Frank Sunday nite for an HVAC that was blowing lukewarm air. He came Monday morning, diagnosed and fixed the issues very quickly at a low charge. Frank is very professional and very friendly. I highly recommend him for anyone who needs HVAC, heating, or plumbing services.

So...I'm rewriting this review..unfortunately, I would give 5 stars usually but Frank has slipped through a couple of appointments in the last couple of months. He used to respond right away for a job that I called him for but I've gotten a strike 2 of him not returning calls and telling me he can make it to an appointment but cancel at the last minute. I was annoyed at first but he finally called me back. He was never like this before so I was surprised.
Good thing about Frank is that he won't just charge you just to show up like the other companies. Later on, he actually explained to me about his situations of why he wasn't able to come through and it was actually legitimate reasons.  We all have off days from life consequences, so all in all, he is legitimate, hard worker and charges much less than other pricey places.

I'm having a hard time writing this because I had such high hopes to get my heat on before winter arrives. But it's not. Frank your a good dude nice guy but my man your helper Gino. Called the guy 4 times told me he would be there never showed or texted back, 4 times!!! Wife was not happy. And happy wife happy life.

I have owned my condo for a little over 2 years and both the summers I've spent here, I have had issues with my central AC. I have had 4 or 5 different companies come out to look at the system and my experience has ranged from them telling me I just need to change the filter (which I do on a regular basis) to telling me I have to replace my entire system (involving a crane and closing down my entire street with police detail for a whole day). I finally called Frank at Gomes Plumbing and Heating and we set up an appointment for the very next day to come out and look at the system. He was able to find the issue in very little time and charged me a fraction of what the others had been trying to charge me. I was so pleased with the work he did and the service I got that I've told all of my friends who are home/condo owners in the area to call Frank!

A few months after Frank fixed my AC (which is working wonderfully now!) my garbage disposal broke. Again, Frank was able to come over to fix it the very next day. I would recommend Gomes Plumbing and Heating to absolutely everyone and plan to use Frank for ALL of my plumbing/cooling/heating needs in the future.

I had Frank put in a new hot water heater for me about a year ago and everything went fine.  So I called him at the end of our kitchen renovation to hook up a new sink and dish washer.  As he was finishing up putting in the dishwasher I came over and noticed there were a handful of gouges in our new wood floors.  I had put the dish washer on some protective pads but Frank had apparently turned it over on its side, and off of the pads, to hook up some parts.

Frank's immediate reaction was to blame my floor finishers, saying there wasn't any polyurethane on it.  (Which of course, there was)  In the middle of me explaining to him that it doesn't matter how many layers of polyurethane you put on a floor, if you put a major appliance on its side and push it around, it's going to cause damage... Frank completely snapped and shouted at me Get someone here to fix and I don't charge you a goddamn thing for this!

He then quickly finished up the rest of the job, left debris and dirty pools of water everywhere in my kitchen, and stomped out of my house without saying a word.  He did not charge me for the work.  So, great... free plumbing; but that's not going to cover the expense of getting those gouges out.  And I did not deserve to be screamed at and made to feel unsafe in my own home.  When I saw the gouges in the floor I was obviously not happy but was not yelling at him or lecturing him.  It was really a span of thirty seconds where he just totally lost control.

Amazed to see such a high review for this company. We called to get our a/c examined and the guy who showed up did absolutely nothing and actually asked me to call another service company while he sat and listened to the conversation. He then surmised that we must need new Freon (which I'd read is an extremely rare and extremely expensive procedure) and demanded $250 for his useless services. Luckily we found a much more legitimate service nearby and they fixed everything promptly, identified a couple of inexpensive replacements, and charged us under $200 for everything.

I called on short notice about a small gas leak from my range. He showed up as promised with the necessary part in hand, and had everything done in about 20 minutes. Reasonable price and a nice guy to boot. Would definitely use his service again.

Updating my past review after reading the more recent ones. 4 years ago I was very pleased with my HVAC service. I called the number which was a cell phone, just a hello with no indication that I was calling the business. Then I was told he was driving and to text the number with what I needed. I texted and received no contact back. Unfortunately they've lost my business and will find someone else.

I called Frank on Friday for a non emergency issue and he came on Sunday which in my opinion is as good as it gets unless you have an actual emergency. He was going to be delayed on Sunday making our appointment (unexpected van repair issue) but he called me well in advance to reschedule. When he arrived, he was friendly and knowledgeable. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone and will continue to use Frank.

OK, while I'm writing Yelp reviews tonight, I really need to give Frank an overdue 5-star rating. You never really appreciate a true professional until you've had to deal with a total hack, which I've done. (I am through with home warranty programs that don't give you any say in who provides your service!) I had my house go cold on one of our sub-zero mornings, and after a guy who we used and liked before said he was booked solid for the day, I found Frank on Yelp. He came over within a couple of hours and pinpointed the problem.

A couple of weeks later, I noticed a persistent leak from the boiler. Again, I called Frank, and he came by a couple of days later since it was not an emergency. He fixed the issue and was not going to charge me, but I insisted on paying him at least a service fee.

Frank is friendly, knowledgeable, fair and responsive. When you call him, you're getting his direct line. I wish I had hired him to install our boiler and central AC instead of the guy I gave 2 stars to. I highly recommend him and will probably have him come back to fix some of the shoddy work that was done previously.

Our water heater broke on Friday and I called Frank Saturday morning at 9am. He said he'd be over in 30 minutes for an inspection and quote. He showed up on time and gave me a very reasonable price. He started working on replacing the heater immediately and was done in around 3 hours. He was very friendly, honest, and quick. Look no further, as other places I called quoted $500 more than Frank. Extremely satisfied with the service, and now if you'll excuse me, I'll be enjoying a nice and long hot shower.

Huge thanks to Frank who came to my rescue after the water was shut off in my building and the stem broke in valve...leaving me with no water.  Frank arrived the following morning, analyzed the issue and sent me pics of the completed job while I was at work. Timely, efficient and doesn't rip you off.

I don't get how this company has all great reviews! We have gas leak in one of the pipes. After reading all these positive reviews we called Gomes plumbing heating and cooling. We left 2 voicemails and two days later no response!!! In the second voicemail we asked the guy to at least call us back even if they can't take care of the issue, at least to let us know that they are busy or something. No response! Don't waste your time. They don't care. Gas leak is the serious issue but not for these guys I guess!

Our first floor heat (forced hot water) was not getting above 60 degrees. We called Frank in the morning and he and Manny were at our house by 5:30 pm that day. He did not charge a fee to look at our problem (the other plumbers were used in the past charged $50 or more just to come out). He checked the returns on our boiler and it was running hot, but he could tell that the baseboards were not as hot as they should be. He changed out the old thermostat for a digital one. The first floor is now heating correctly. His price was relatively fair and he did not charge an after hours fee (although it was after 5 pm). We also appreciated using a locally owned (Dorchester) small business.

I discovered a major leak under my sink on a Friday night after washing dishes.  Luckily it only leaked when I ran water in the sink, so I knew I could wait until Saturday morning to call a plumber.  I was sure I would have to pay a premium for Saturday service, but noticed that Mr. Gomes had Saturday hours.  I called around 10am, and he said he could be right over.  Since I had an appointment at noon, we decided on a 2pm instead.  He diagnosed the problem over the phone (rusted out garbage disposal), walked me through getting the model number off the disposal, and said he would pick one up on the way.  After arriving promptly at 2pm, he confirmed the problem was the rusted disposal, and they had the new one installed in under about an hour.  He also fixed my slightly leaky faucet.  The final cost matched his estimate, and he left the area clean.

Professional and personable, I will definitely use him again for any plumbing (or heating and cooling) needs.

My ejector pump stopped working about a month ago so I called Gomes Plumbing. Frank came out the next day and gave me a free estimate, which actually ended up being the lowest price by far. Other plumbing companies were charging $50 just to come out for an estimate!

Frank promptly scheduled an appointment to perform the job, (he arrived ON TIME - how rare for a plumber?) and fixed the problem. I was extremely pleased with the quality of service and his attitude.

However, the reason I'm writing this review is not because of that job, but because 4 weeks later my ejector pump stopped working again. I called up Frank and told him I didn't know what was wrong. He came out THE NEXT DAY (without questioning or complaining) to look at the issue and it turned out that it was not even related to the original problem. He fixed the problem without question and didn't even charge for the job. Of course I still paid him something, and it was for the quality service & commitment he provided.

I would strongly recommend Gomes Plumbing to anyone in need of a plumber. At a minimum you can give him a call and he'll come out for a free estimate, but I'm sure you'll like his personality and his work won't disappoint you!

This guy is the real deal. My water heater started leaking in my basement and I knew I had to get the situation fixed right away because I was heading out of town for a week. Frank answered his phone, gave me a solid quote, showed up when he said he was going to - 2 hours later - and did a great job. This is my second time with Gomes Plumbing and if you think I'm dealing with anybody else you're out of your mind.

My heater did not work and it was starting to get pretty cold at night.  Based on other Yelp reviews I called Gomes Heating.  Frank came out THAT night @ 6 PM and within about 1 hour my heater was working.  He also checked out my garbage disposal too.  His fee was VERY competitive!!  I need to call him again to help me install my W&D.  I would recommend that Frank identify his business on his v-mail greeting.  I call a couple of time and left messages and wasn't sure I really had a business v-mail or someone's personal v-mail.

I had a very easy plumbing issue and wanted to replace my kitchen faucet but didn't have the proper tools (or time to be honest).  After a Yelp search I called Gomes and he came out within 2 hours.  Frank and Griff were at my place and had the issue fixed fast.  I'd use them again if needed.

Called the owner to inquire about a repair. The man was reluctant even to answer simple questions about where his business was located. Sounded unstable.

Our first time needing the services of Mr. Gomes was when the second floors hot water heater burst a seam. He was here in short order, looked at it and was off to get a replacement. The job was completed in about an hour and at a very reasonable price (actually MUCH less than what some bigger places quoted us and he was a top notch professional from start to finish. The most recent time was for a malfuntioning faucet on the second floor. He came out, tightened the valve underneath and we agreed upon when would fit in our schedules to complete the work. If you need plumbing done right and quick, he's your man to call!

I called Frank at around 2PM on a Friday because my heat was not working and he was at my condo by 4PM that same day to diagnose the problem .  He wound up having to come back the next day (made it to us by 11am on Saturday) with a part and his electrician to finish the job.  I live in a 4 unit brownstone in the South End with a common utility area utility room and three separate heating zones.

His rates are very competitive as he charged $80/hour for labor.  Many other people I contacted were as $150+ claiming they need to charge time and a half on Friday afternoons and over the weekend.

My impression of Frank was he was a very honest and sincere guy.  He will have my business moving forward and I will be suggesting him to the other people in our condo association.

Just wanted to add an updated review. We decided to replace the boiler in our home as it was original to our house that was built in 1938. Frank gave us a very fair price and his schedule worked with ours. He even made us aware of incentives being offered by Mass Save. We have been very pleased with Frank's work and his professionalism.

Called Back Bay Mechanical to schedule repair on my Central Air/Furnace unit.  He was busy and on the road, but said he would make it there the next day, and asked me to send him an email about the problem.  I did as he requested.  Never replied to my email, never showed up.

Called Gomes after that.  Talked to Frank who was also very busy but said he would come by later in the early evening.  No show, no call.

I'm glad they didn't show up because then I called ProSolutions Bath & Boiler and met Elijah.  He was fantastic.  Read my 5 star review for him.

my water heater died on a saturday---major bummer. i hit the yelppages and hit the jackpot with Gomes Plumbing Heater and Cooling. frank gave me a quick, reasonable quote and came to replace it the next day (sunday!). our hot water was back on by noon and the process could not have been easier. thanks frank!

Frank showed up promptly, brought in as many people (and equipment) as needed to diagnose the problem, and worked around my scheduling request to get the job done on time and at a good price.

We had a heating problem, called Frank and within 30mins, Frank sent out a guy who showed up and fixed our problem IMMEDIATELY.. THAT'S THE BEST SERVICE EVER!!! Very happy, satisfied and will be using Gomes from now on.. A+++ Service..

Frank showed up in person the same day we called, he was professional and courteous. Unfortunately, we should have reminded him to extensively test the connections for leaks. When we called him he came back immediately, did more than one test and refused to take any money for the job.  Will recommend

Called them at noon during a blizzard to fix a broken garbage disposal. They showed up at 4pm, diagnosed the problem, then went to Home Depot to buy me a new disposal and installed it - all by 5:30!

Subtracting the cost of the disposal itself, this is one of the best prices I've ever heard of. Top notch work, and I would absolutely recommend these guys to friends!

Frank provides excellent customer service and did a great job for me.  I had a serious leak in my hot water heater and called Frank for help.  We exchanged calls and text a few times so he was able to diagnose the problem before he came over, and was very responsive every time.

In the end, I replaced the hot water heater which was really old to begin with. Frank did a great job replacing it and he was on time and attentive. I would recommend his service to anyone.

My landlord contacted Gomes to fix a problem in my unit. Gomes told the landlord he would contact me. After days of not hearing from him, I looked him up and called him myself. He asked some questions, and said he would get back to me. I called him back a couple of days later after not hearing from him and left him a voicemail message. Never heard back. Went with another plumber.

I was getting a new stove delivered & needed the gas shut off on Friday & new stove delivered on Sat. My regular plumber did not get back to me.  I saw the great reviews about Gomes plumbing & decided to call him on Fri around 9am.  Frank answers the phone right away. I told him my situation & he agreed to come over & help me.  My old stove has not been moved in over 25years!  It was extremely difficult to move.    Frank kept at it for me until he could finally move it!  About a half hour or move.  Frank found the pipe leading to the stove was lying on the ground.  He used his great skills & imagination  to figure out how to add a new line & a turn off valve!  I was very impressed & very happy!  The new stove arrived & Frank came back on Sat to hook it up. He also hooked up our new hood for our new stove. And that was also challenging removing the old one! Yuck.
Frank was awesome!  Very calm & personable.  I cannot say enough about how much I appreciated his skills!

Frank and Manny were just the plumbers we were looking for.  We needed a new shower faucet installed, and he was at our house within 2 hours on a Saturday.  He explained the options clearly, and his prices were fair and much better than some other quotes we had received over the phone.  He had the whole job done in 2 hours.  He even offered to come back and install new trim.  Guys like this are the reason I use Yelp - would highly recommend.

Frank was awesome! I called him for a dripping bath tub and low water preasure in my kitchen sink. He came by the same day that I called to look at the issues and said he would be back the next day to fix both. He showed up on time with a helper and replaced my kitchen faucet in no time. My bathtub turned out to be more of a project than originally thought and it was getting late and would need another day to finish, but when Frank found out I would be out of town for the rest of the week he went to home depot, got the part I needed and stayed until 8:30 pm finishing the job. His prices that he quoted were what he charged, and they were very reasonable. I would call Frank again for any plumbing needs!

We had used Frank before in our Savin Hill condo for minor problems, but when we moved to our new house in West Roxbury and had a pipe burst in our basement, we knew Frank was our guy!  We called him on a Sat. morning and he was at our house in 45 minutes.  He assessed the situation, went out to get the parts he needed, came back and fixed the pipe.  The whole situation - the pipe bursting, calling Frank, and him arriving and fixing it - all took under two hours.  Frank was professional and just a good guy in general.  He also helped us get some of the water out of our basement.  And, the next day, when our water pressure seemed a little low, he came out (no charge) to fix that for us.  Reasonable price, especially for a weekend call, and very quick turn around.  Thanks, Frank!
