My service request was a kitchen faucet be installed (I already bought faucet), leaking outdoor spigot be repaired, a bath fan be installed (already bought fan to replace a smaller version), and 2 outside lights checked to see why they weren't working. Scheduler was friendly, promptly got text confirmations of service date. Scheduler said although some personnel do both plumbing & electrical, they would send two separate people.
They arrived on time, were polite. The house was already empty as it was getting ready to be listed for sale, so there was nothing hindering their work. Plumber was good & kept me informed as to what issues he was running into, requiring a return visit the next day. He showed me what caused the original leak in spigot. I actually didn't have an issue with the plumbing project, and the cost was $300, which was about what I expected.
HOWEVER, the electrician was busy going up and down stairs to attic, didn't say a word about what he was doing. Two additional electricians arrived midway, and didn't really explain why they were there -- I thought the first one needed help with something. One of them asked me if I had a replacement fixture for outside, and I said no, but there was no further conversation. They cleaned up very well after themselves but never showed me what they had done, nor said anything, other than the office would send me a bill.
I almost fainted when I got a bill for $745 , in ADDITION to the plumber's bill for $300! They had run a new vent system in my attic, cut a new hole in the side of the house for it (which I didn't see until I opened attic days later), and replaced both outside lights without telling me they were doing so or giving me any option of what type they were installing. I would never have spent $70 just for a single light fixture for a house I am getting ready to sell!
I was very upset that I had no input or knowledge of what they decided to do, and when I called Borchelt to express my concerns, the person I spoke to said he was one of the electricians working there, and that their work order did not say to give an estimate, just to do the work. He said he couldn't do anything about the bill, just know for future reference (as if I would ever do business with them again!) that you have to specifically ask for an estimate. Why would the plumber tell me what he was doing and what options there were, yet the electrician(s) just decide to do everything without telling me?
So... all in all, $1,045 to install a faucet that I provided, replace a spigot, install a bath fan that I provided, and install two lights that I wouldn't have replaced had I known cost. And the icing on the cake was, they accidentally shut the gas off to my water heater, requiring a return visit this week to relight the pilot light (which they generously said would be at no additional cost).
Exceedingly disappointed in this outrageous bill and absolute lack of communication by their service providers. I see another review also citing the lack of communication, which I wish I would have seen before calling them. Never, ever would I recommend them!
