Fail Safe Electric Company

I had the best experience with Fail Safe Electric in Naperville.   I just bought a Tesla and needed to have my wall connector installed.  I had a few companies come out to quote my set up.  Out of the 3, I chose Fail Safe Electric.  They were the most knowledgeable.  They were able to start right away and came on time.  The electrician that installed the Tesla charger was super helpful. We chatted about placement and what was best for my garage and car placement.  I had a situation where the easiest installation for the electrical contractor would have been a pain for me to charge each night.  I would have needed to back my car in.  So, the electrician went above and beyond and spent extra time and resources on project to accommodate me.  He said and I quote, I just really want you to be happy with your setup, that's the most important thing  

I really impressed with Lou and Pete.  I will call them for any electrical needs in the future.  If you need a Tesla charger for your new car, call them!

I got an apartment building rewired and additional service added by failsafe 2 years ago. When they were here they it all looked great. As Soon after they left I started finding issues. First it was my door bells and door access did not function anymore. I was told that it was not them and it probably shorted somewhere. Since then I have found that the breaker labels are not correct as they said they were going to be set up. Shared spaces are hooked into the 1st floor service and not on the shared space service. I also found that some wire were not replaced as they supposed to be. (Cloth wire previously, they were all being removed and replaced) Other breakers have multiple outlets in different rooms across the apartment, which is not how it was supposed to be set up. Overall I have been disappointed the more and more I find. We rewired to get rid of all the cloth wire and to separate the 1st, 2nd, and shared spaces and I feel like the electric is still an issue after all of this.

Update: it's been 18 days since I wrote this post and no one reached out. He was very quick to answer this post (within 10 mins) but never followed up at all. It's just disappointing he would rather call me fake then actually deal with the problem.

I called them on Super Bowl Sunday as I had a blown breaker that wouldn't reset. I spoke with the owner who advised if I could wait until Monday that would save me some money. I took his advise and his guy (Lee) was at my house 8am Monday morning. I asked if they could look at one more item while he was there and they obliged. The service industry can be tough when you're trying to stay on schedule. If one job takes longer than anticipated things get pushed back. These guys were on time, courteous, and professional. 5 stars for me.

Had a Tesla charger installed today. Lee and Armani were professional and respectful. I was a little nervous because we had another company do some work in the house previously and it was somewhat of a disaster. Communication with the office staff at Fail Safe was courteous and efficient. Payment was easy and the team showed up on time. It was a great experience! We will be having them return for some additional work as we finish some renovations to the house.

I called Fail Safe because of good reviews on Yelp.  They came out to do an electrical inspection of my 70 year old house.  They checked everything including the attic and replaced a few outlets.  The electricians were professional and courteous.  It was very fairly priced.  I plan on using them again.

I used these guys a couple months ago to wire up some dimmer switches that control two different sets of lights in my kitchen and adjoining dinette.  I had marked which ones I wanted to control each set as I wasn't going to be there and they followed it exactly but actually recognized a third switch that would work well in the configuration and explained to my wife why we would want it that way.  The technician was right on, and I'm really happy with the job he did.  

Only four stars because I had already purchased all the switches and the visit was about 30 minutes.  It was 225, or 75 dollars per switch, or 450 per hour.  Their rates may be comparable to others and even if these guys are a little higher probably not a ton, so I'll take reliable, professional and quality work for a few bucks more all day.  It warranted a one star reduction but I will be a repeat customer with future projects.

Last Saturday i called because our electric dryer was creating a sparking in our breaker panel. Called around 10ish, Louis called back 15 minutes after i left a message. He was out very promptly after and showed me 1st hand what had happened. Long story short i needed a new breaker panel. They took care of everything, pulled permits, called with updates, arrived on time, very polite, cleaned up their work spotless, i have no complaints.

Today (9-24-19) 2 technicians (Bennie and Ryan) arrived right at 730am as promised with my new panel and wire to run to my microwave. They worked relentlessly ripping out and replacing my new breaker panel. Mine is inside my wall flush with my drywall. New panel was larger. They cut drywall, redid some piping coming into the box, ran new wire. And cleaned everything up to the point that i barely knew they were even here. Kept me posted as they went along, joking around with my wife and I. It just made for a very pleasant experience all around. Your crew i had today went above and beyond and traced and labeled everything also, old wasnt labeled. And i was NOT looking forward to doing it myself.

I too work in the skilled trades, so i know how some employees are... its always hit or miss with companies and their workers. Not these guys though! From my original call, to the completion and final payment of the work, every person i interacted with was very professional, very helpful, respectful And courteous. They seriously made the whole dilemma so painless. Really goes to show a lot for a company and your employees. I DEFINITELY will be reccomendding you to my friends and other customer of my industry that need an electrician.

Fail Safe did a beautiful job installing a light fixture and capping a pre-existing one. They arrived on-time, were efficient and friendly, and stayed within the price range they quoted me online! I asked that they assess another job I hoped they'd be able to complete at a later date - and they did so confidently and scheduled with me immediately. A great resource for any of your residential electrician needs!

My level of satisfaction with Louis and Fail Safe Electric Co. cannot be overstated. I bought a condo several years ago with an antiquated Zinsco circuit breaker panel. Zinsco panels are notoriously prone to serious malfunctions and have been known to cause fires. In addition to being a fire hazard, it was out of code where it was located above the kitchen counter.

When I decided it was time to finally get this thing replaced, I had planned on getting estimates from several electricians. Louis and Fail Safe were recommended to me by a local HVAC company. I contacted him first to inquire about both replacing and relocating my circuit breaker panel. I figured I'd listen to what he had to say, keep it in mind, and move on to the next estimate. He came out on a Saturday and discussed with me the options, and gave me a price that was well below what I was expecting to pay for such a job. I was sold. No need to get any other estimates. We agreed to move forward.

Louis and his guys got the entire job done in a single day, and did a great job cleaning up all the dust after the work was done. The new panel is beautiful and I can sleep a lot better at night knowing I have a safe and up to code breaker panel.

On top of this, Louis did ALL of the leg work getting the permit from the village, presenting the plans to the condo board, and arranging the inspection. This went far above and beyond my expectations.

At inspection time, the inspector was so impressed with the work that had been done, he said I should recommend Fail Safe to anyone I know that may need an electrician. That's quite an endorsement!

Lou responded in under 5 minutes on a Saturday morning to my inquiry through Yelp. Peter came out within two hours. Peter was friendly and incredibly thorough. It turns out the issue was a 5-second fix but he made sure to make sure there wasn't an underlying issue too.

Very satisfied with Fail Safe's customer service.  Called owner Lou and explained
my situation to him.  He arrived in less than two hours, quickly determined the problem and corrected it at a reasonable cost.  This was especially important as this task was for my 80 year old mother-in-law's home.  Because of my interaction
with Lou, I highly recommend Fail Safe.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Needed an appointment to fix some electric in my garage... contacted Fail Safe who suggested a time and said they'd put it on the schedule. I rearranged my morning schedule to accommodate and waited. And waited. And waited. After an hour and 15 minutes of a no show and no communication whatsoever, I emailed and told them not to bother. No response.

Oh, and this was the second time they ghosted me without communication.

Just moved to Naperville and needed help. Spoke with what I think was an office manager or assistant who said the owner would call to set an appointment. Never heard anything so followed up a week later and got hung up on. Fascinating business practices but time to move on.

Once again fail safe to the rescue.  I had a time crunch basement project that needed to be done like yesterday.  They came out and started on the job the following day.  They completed the project that was at hand very fast and done to the bosses satisfaction. The wife.  I can't thank you enough for fitting us in your busy schedule and thank you for doing everything the right way.  I couldn't ask for anything else.  Highly recommend this company to all my friends and family.

I'm not that easily impressed...so when a company like Fail Safe and Louie come around I want to take the time to write a glowing review.  

Im a Maintenance Manager for a Memory Care facility in Oswego.  We had an issue that I was not able to fix and later I found to be a safety issue at that.

I found Fail Safe through Yelp.  After narrowing down to a few companies and reading reviews, Louie was the only call I made that actually answered the phone.  He impressed me with his professionalism and determination.  

Long-story short....24 hours later my issue was fixed and now I can rest assure everything is safe again.

We talked about for years but never got around to having a backup generator installed. I guess like others, the only real time you speak about a back up generator is when the power goes out and you're sitting in the dark not knowing if it will be minutes hours or days until the power comes on again.
So after the storms in June we finally started looking for a company that is qualified to install a backup generator, a licensed electrician and reputable.
We called around, we even used Home advisor which was a complete mess since we were bombarded with calls from guys who seemed to sell generators as a side business.
Finally we came to yelp and read Fail Safe Electric's reviews. Good company, great guy and someone we felt we could trust with our home.

Great communication and professional work.  Louis came out intending to do some significant repair work based on my home inspection.  However, once on the scene, he quickly saw that the majority of the work, and cost, in the estimate, was in error.  This resulted in much less time, and expense, while still addressing the safety concerns at my home.  Could not ask for better service

Failed to show! Definitely not fail safe. Appointment was set up a week in advance. We were supposed to be the first appointment of the day. They never came and never called. They might do good work, but we'll never know.

These guys are literally worth the money and the time.  One phone call, Louis came out and traced where the recent power surge hit, and even managed to replace all my fire alarms with fire alarm/carbon monoxide alarm combination devices.  The follow-up service was done by his associate, who replaced the ceiling fan in an hour.  Turns out, the ceiling fan was making all that crackling noise due to faulty electric module inside.  I'd definitely hire these guys again in a heart beat.

Great electrician. I called at 3 PM on a Friday. Got an appointment for 7 AM on Saturday. Joe was here at 6:45 am and fixed everything within 40 minutes. Polite and knowledgeable. I will hire them at any time.

Peter from FS came out and figured out what needed to be done. He went right to it and was very complete in his work. He gave me an estimate,which was very fair and at the end of the job it was exactly what he said. No surprises.
We are new to the area so we needed a good electrician to rely on  for fixes, and projects we have in mind, and we have found the guys.

The team at Fail Safe took on our project for less than the competition, and was highly regarded by the inspection teams at the City of Naperville building and electrical departments. We had Louis, Joe, Pete the team trench out a new meter box, working with the city to move our electrical line to the house. Then, we even had them run a GFI for our patio, working with the building contractors and the city, to get electrical for our hot tub and an outdoor structure. The work was done on time, inside our budget and with a level of professionalism that, to me, sets the standard. All codes were met on the first try and the team worked great with the other teams that were on the same construction site.

Louis and another came out to my house in Bolingbrook, after i called in the same day, to help track down and resolve a power issue I was having with a house I just purchased. I am fairly handy around the house but was at wit's end with the issue and they were able to get it resolved quickly and painlessly. I would highly recommend and saved their card for future emergencies.

Great company to do business with. I use them at work and also for all my personal projects.

The electrician that came out did a great job installing a chandelier that we wanted to replace, and verified that we were set up for a dryer (which we weren't certain that we were) in our new house.

He was pleasant and charged us a reasonable price, and gave us peace of mind about the things we'd asked him to do.

We'd definitely recommend Peter for doing your home electrical work.

We had intermittent electrical issues - Lou provided a thorough and thoughtful appraisal of our situation.  He showed us the problems, took photos and outlined the specific steps to resolve.  We received other estimates - none were as thorough as Lou's - and it was less expensive.  Lou and Rosario (sp? - if incorrect sorry) replaced our entire electrical panel, and resolved a mysterious issue in one room.  Lou and Rosario refused to give up.  They carefully evaluated multiple scenarios that could cause the problem, and finally found and repaired the problem.  We have such confidence in Lou and his work - his expertise is evident and he takes his time to help customers understand his work.  Fail Safe should be your first and last call.  We highly recommend Fail Safe - outstanding service and work, and a genuinely nice guy to boot.

Called this company two times and left a message two times. They never called me back.  Called a third time, and they were with a customer and said they would call me back in 5 minutes. Never called me back again.  Tried one final time to reach them and actually spoke with someone. However, during the conversation, he put me on hold twice, and during the second time the line went dead. I figured if they wanted my business they would call back. They never did. Horrible customer service.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to review their work as they didn't show up to do it. I gave them a pass on the first time because they said they will try to come out the same day, didn't make it, but left me a voicemail explaining that they got held up on another job. I had no problem with that so we set an appointment for 8am on Saturday. Did not show up, did not call to reschedule or explain the reason. I tried calling at about 9:30am to find out what the issue was but no one answered. Very unprofessional to no call no show.

We recently built a new house and have had Fail Safe to our house on two separate occasions, once to install 4 ceiling fans and a chandelier, and the second time to install 2 pendant lights in our kitchen. These guys are AMAZING. Louis is incredibly responsive, flexible and his quotes are always reasonable and correct. Our builder unfortunately forgot to install a box for our kitchen pendant lights, and we thought it would be incredibly expensive to do. Fail Safe came out and did it without any issues at all, and it was extremely well priced. We couldn't be happier and will continue to use them!

This may be the only review from someone who DIDN'T actually use Fail Safe! We had an issue with our electricity this morning, and I chose to call Lou based on other Yelp reviews. So first of all, he calls me back within an hour - at 7:30 am. How fantastic is that? But then, as I describe my problem, he suggests it might be a problem with the electric line coming into the house, and that I should call the City of Naperville first. If that's not the issue, he said at that point it would be worthwhile to have him come out. So I call the city, they send a truck out, and sure enough, Lou was right. Everyone I spoke with at the city was impressed that Lou immediately referred me to them; they get complaints all the time about unscrupulous companies that won't do that because they want to come out and charge you for the service call. Not only did Lou give me the right advice - although it meant no sale for him - he even followed up with a phone call to make sure my problem had been solved. This is a man with integrity, and if I ever have another electrical issue again, I won't hesitate to call him.

Fail Safe was recommended by my insurance agent for a job at a 50 year old house I own in Shorewood.  For the second time in two years, a leg of power went out.  ComEd laid the underground cables many years ago with no protection around them so a combo of tree roots and rain (high water table) was causing these breaks. At this point, I didn't want to risk this happening again so instead of agreeing to let ComEd repair the break, Fail Safe handled EVERYTHING in getting me brand new service lines.  This included bringing in a boring machine to tunnel under a huge tree.  The new underground lines are protected in conduit which is how ComEd should have done it in the first place.  Fail Safe was extremely responsive to my requests and got the job done asap without delay.  (Of course they had to wait on the Village permit and could not schedule  work in the rain.)  The Fail Safe employees were very professional and it was a relief to feel the job was in good hands. In addition, they left the site in a tidy manor.  I was so pleased, I then hired them to do some interior work.  1) Electrician quickly noticed my Xfinity cable line was not grounded.  The grounding clamp was rusted and the Xfinity repair guy never even noticed this when I called him out after seeing frequent pixelation on my TV.  2) Electrician noticed grounding to house was not up to code so fixed that with very minimal disturbance to the drywall in my finished basement.  (I can only assume the basement remodel was a DIY job done before I bought the house.)  3) Electrician noticed gauge on wires to A/C unit were not large enough.  Replaced and also replaced A/C disconnect box since he noticed it was not the right type.  (Again...DIY all over this house. The electrician showed me one of the the old A/C wires he removed and it was burned which could have started a fire.)  I highly recommend Fail Safe Electric!

I called Louis to have some work done that was required after a home inspection. He explained exactly what needed to be done, and we scheduled the appointment for the next day. Louis showed up right when he said he would. He couldn't have been more professional! He completed all 5 tasks in just over an hour. We chatted the whole time he was here, and I even learned some new stuff about electrical work. A+++ service! We highly recommend this company! We had a great experience with Louis and Peter! After moving to Illinois from California, we found this company after reading other reviews on Yelp. Louis answered my initial call right away, promptly scheduled an estimate at our home, and scheduled a date to complete the work soon after. We had quite a few projects for him to tackle but he and Peter did an excellent job. They were on time, professional, courteous, and friendly! They were even great with my two year old son who wanted so badly to help them with the projects. Very friendly, reliable, hard working guys! Completed all of the jobs in less than a day's work. Even helped with a completely electrically-unrelated handyman kind of job...much appreciated! Would definitely call again for future electrical work and highly recommend!

Around 10 pm I smelled burning plastic in our breaker box after a fuse blew, and I knew I needed to get an electrician out due to potential safety hazards. I messaged Lou that night and he responded within seconds. He was at our house around 8 am the following morning with one of his employees. He thoroughly explained the issue and repaired it on the spot. He also sent someone the next day to repair something else we noticed that needed to be fixed. The pricing was very reasonable and his communication provided tremendous peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Chatted with Louis through Yelp to set up an appointment for a quote to install a 220 outlet in my basement, got a reasonable quote after he looked at the location, and scheduled a followup to do the installation. He was quick, the work was done well, and his price was exactly what he quoted me. He was also able to accept payment through Square, which was great. I'll definitely use Fail Safe again if I need more electrical work in the future.

Wow! I requested a quote today from Fail Safe, Louie called me within 30 minutes or so and had an electrician to my home within 3 hours. He fixed a broken outlet we had on the outside of our home and will likely be installing another outlet. So surprised and pleased that they responded so quickly for my quote and even more surprised he was able to come same day and fix my problem! Awesome!

Need some work done before I headed out of town for about a week. Called in on a Saturday and said they will have some one by first thing in the morning Sunday. Sunday morning come about, I get a phone call stating one of the guys didn't show and that Louie had to push the timeline back due to him being with family and needed time so he can come out himself.  With the changed timeline, he was right on time and even 10 minutes early. We have dogs so he gave us more than enough time in advanced to get them situated. Very polite, courteous, and well manner. Offered to take his shoes off before hand and knew exactly what's needed to be done to get the problem fixed. Was done in about 20 minutes. Even gave a military discount which I paid in full anyway since his service was outstanding. Only criticism I have was when I initially called on Saturday, he answered his business number with a 'hello? As if I reached a residential number. Was a little confusing and rough around the edges but it was a bit late for the call. All in all, great service, great price, and well worth the awkward first phone call. Highly recommend!!

Was having electrical issues, read reviews, called and got Louis.  Explained the situation, was at my house within 15 minutes.  Louis was thorough, explained the problem to my husband, fixed the problem and we were up and running in no time at all.  He had to work in the dark, literally!  Very reasonably priced.  We will definitely recommend Louis and Fail Safe to all our friends.

What can I say about these guys other than they ROCK!!!  I reached out to Lou on line through yelp he responded right away. We were able to set up a date and time for his guy to come out and BOOM an hour and half later I have power.  The breaker for our master suite and office kept tripping and we couldn't figure out why.  Plus its scary when any breaker trips cause that means my house could have burned down.  I had a neighbor who is also an electrician look at it, he was here no more than 20 minutes didn't trouble shoot changed the breaker and charged me $50.  Within a few hours the breaker tripped again and then I couldn't get it to stay at all, truly frightening and what a pain, I had extension cords running through the house so we could use our bedroom and a garage light in the bathroom so we could use the shower.  Well then I reached out to Lou and he sent Peter.  Peter was right on time, looked at everything, began trouble shooting, and found the problem.  I had a faulty outlet in the bedroom that could have easily started a fire if the breaker had failed.  Peter looked at all my concerns, tightened up the light fixture in my closet, replaced the faulty outlet, and also another I wanted changed behind the bed. 1.5 hours later everything is fixed I wrote him a check for $200 and life is good again.  I highly recommend Fail Safe Electric they are a great contractor to work with and I will definitely call them again if I need anymore work done. Recently I woke up to having no power in my house. I had the same thing happen this past winter and knew it was most likely the breaker in the meter box outside my house. I figured I would just replace the breaker and be up and running again. However, when I checked this time the breaker had completely burnt out and destroyed the box. I don't know any electricians so I had to decide who to call. We checked on Yelp and saw that Fail Safe had good reviews so I gave them a call. I talked with Louie, he had me take a few pictures and send them along so he could assess the situation. He explained that the entire box would need to be replaced but that he could get most of the power back up until he could replace the box. He had someone out within a couple of hours and he had everything up and running accept the AC. The electrician he sent out had the power back on in less than 30 minutes. He was efficient, knowledgeable and personable. We then needed to get the box replaced and the AC up and running. Louie knew that it was going to be hot later in the week so he was able to fit me in early in the week to avoid having to spend any time in the heat without AC, which I appreciated. The installation of the meter box went well. Again the workers that were sent out were professional and knowledgeable. They installed the meter box without and issue and manged not to damage any of the siding in the process. Using tradesman that you don't know doesn't always turn out the best but I got lucky when I chose Fail Safe with Louie and his team. He made me feel like I was his most important customer and he showed that he was truly concerned about getting the work done for my families safety. I would recommend Fail Safe to anyone who needs an electrician and I know who I will be calling next time one. Thank you

We hired Fail Safe Electric to upgrade our electrical panel and to replace our electric meter that had a burnt neutral. Our meter was the original meter that was put on the house when it was built in the 50's so there were several upgrades that had to be made to bring it up to code, which included relocating the meter. Louis from Fail Safe knew exactly what needed to be done. He worked with the city to ensure everything would go smoothly. The great thing about working with Louis was that he really listened to our thoughts and concerns. He made us feel like we were a team and we were in this together. When he arrived with his crew to complete the work they were on-time and got right to work. The work they did was incredible. Our electrical panel went from being a mess of wires and switches to being neat and organzied. When the job was complete they cleaned up everything.  Everyone from Fail Safe Electric were professional and friendly.  We will defiantly be hiring Fail Safe for our future kitchen remodel.
