Ok. When your man is out of town. And all your guy besties are too busy, who you gonna call? A-1 Budget Plumbing!

I thought kitchen garbage disposals was for almost everything! well, I only threw in a few sliced baby carrots and oh well, the rest is history! After my plumber failed me at the very last minute ystdy, I went scrambling for another plumber and even though I had to painlessly wait overnite, the wait was worth it.

A-1 Budget plumbing to the rescue. Prompt. Friendly. Fast. Reasonable. Weekend service too! I say their technician Duke, unplugged my drain within half hour. It was so awesome, but the overall service is awesome!
I would highly recommend A-1 Budget Plumbing and will use them again if I need to in the future! Thank you Duke for all your help!

Update review: Sept 2020

So after a great plumbing service and having the need for another plumbing issue, I called A-1 plumbing again.
Fortunately we were able to get a plumber out the same day but not until 3-6pm. At which time the plumber came out closer to 6pm.

Again, it was the previous plumber who came ~ Duke, a really nice guy, but couldn't find the leak. And we got charged for a service call. Alrighty then. We were told that his boss would call the following day.

The next day, a lady called and said no one could come out but someone could come out the following day of which I had an appt. the plumber came in the afternoon and did a more detailed leak check and have different variation and versions of possible problem shoot.
But with this issue, you need a plumber and a general contractor to fix the issue. I'm not sure if we will be charged another service call, but feel we should not be charged any fee since the first plumber did not routine test.

So to speak, I'm a little disappointed with A1 plumbing for their service, as the first service provided me was excellent.

Good plumbers are hard to find. I got lucky and found A-1 to help me with our rental properties. Their dispatchers are very helpful and patient when answering the phones. They know you have an issue and they are there to help. Their plumbers are even better as they are efficient, friendly, and do excellent work. They go the extra mile and will let you know if they see other issues that weren't on the original call. I have used them from fixing minor repairs to replacing main water lines.

I called A-1 on August 14 because of leaky bathroom faucet. I called based on good yelp reviews. I spoke with Sandy who was very friendly and she said a plumber would arrive to my home Monday morning August 17. The plumber showed up right at eight and replaced the faucet. However I really was not happy with the work that was done and I just had a gut feeling that all was not right. I called A-1 back and spoke with Lily who was very friendly. I explained my situation and told her that I was not satisfied and she said she would call me back. She called me back shortly and had the whole situation rectified. A1 send out another plumber who completely took care of the problem and now I have that feeling that all is well. I am a satisfied customer now. Our toilet and tub were clogged and I spoke to Rochelle who understood my dire situation and squeezed me in, on a Saturday no less! Our plumber Lloyd quickly assessed the problem, communicated what he was doing, and quickly fixed the problem. And even though we had the clog fixed by Steve's Plumbing two days prior for more than double the price, they refused to make us a priority and wanted us to wait two days for this emergency! A1 Budget plumbing has a great staff, gave excellent service and I couldn't recommend a company more!

This company clearly overcharges for work that they don't even do. The plumber came over for 5 min and wasn't able to do the job. We called them to fix our kitchen faucet and they suggested that we turn the water valve off to our unit only. When we weren't able to turn the valve due to it being frozen, they decided to send a guy over and instead of telling us over the phone that we need to turn off the water system to the whole building he told us in person and just took off. Now, if they mentioned this over the phone we could have avoided him coming over and rescheduled it another day since all this was at 8pm at night when people are at home using the shower and bathroom (clearly didn't want to inconvenience anyone at this time). But instead we have to pay for his 5 min of coming here and saying oh it's frozen, need to shut the whole water system and left. Terrible service and reception was no help. I give this company F.

* Called 15 different companies, all saying they were closed on Sundays. Called A1 and they sent someone within the hour. Cleared the problem and was extremely relieved at the quick and experienced service. Will recommend highly over other expensive bigger companies (Roto-Rooter).

Work was good, but I wouldn't recommend them. I was given a high end estimate of $850-$900 and when the job was done I was charged $1400!!! I don't understand how the high end estimate was so off.

As a homeowner I usually repair and maintain my home. When I couldn't unclog my toilets (tried for 3 hrs), I thought something major was wrong with my drains. I called A-1 Budget Plumbing at 6:45am and Lloyd was at my house by 9:45am! Lloyd found the problem and fixed it within 30 min.! Lloyd was nice, honest and knew his stuff. He explained everything about my drainage system and problem solved my situation. Kudos to Lloyd and A-1 Budget Plumbing!

I am writing this review because I'm a very happy customer of A-1 Budget Plumbing. Last month my family had an emergency water leak in the kitchen late at night because the water pressure valve got broken off when I tried to twist it to temporary turn it off . I've called a few places advertising online saying that emergency service 24/7 but no one answered except A-1 Budget.

A lady answered the phone and told me that someone was available and should call me back soon. About 5 mins later a technician called and said that he would be at my house in about 30 minutes. Then 30 minutes later Shawn showed up and inspected the problem. Shawn was very professional and helpful. He explained to me exactly what he needed to do to change a new valve and about 1 hour later problem solved. It costed me $197 but I'm very happy for the work that they've done and most importantly the emergency service that they provide.

I would definitely call A-1 Budget Plumbing again in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Used this company before without any problems....
I had a leak from the shower knob, so I called them again. Shockingly, the young man that was assigned to my home, showed up 3 hours after the allotted time given. I kept calling the main office, and the woman kept telling me that the Driver was lost in Kaneohe. For 3 hours? Bullshit!!! When he finally arrived, he said that he couldn't fix the problem, but still wanted to charge me for showing up... Really?? I told him to get out of my yard! Stay away from this company! Go with someone else. Make sure they don't charge you for just showing up like this guy tried to do.... NO SERVICE--NO MONEY!!

We are so happy with the service we got from A-1! The main sewage line connecting 4 townhouse units backed up and was spewing (I will not disclose what) into 2 of the carports. The owners tried everything they could for a few hours to unclog/solve the issue. Finally, at around 11:30pm it was decided that we needed to call a plumber. We called about 4-5 plumbing companies (all of which the website said was 24/7 hour emergency service) and 2 of the offices we called were closed. (Even Roto-Rooter had no one available.) We finally got through to someone at A-1 to get some help and Keone, the plumber tech, called right away. He was there within an hour and fixed the problem within 15-20 minutes. He even mentioned that next time we should call as soon as this happens again since it's cheaper to get it fixed in the daytime. Thank you for the great service and advice, Keone and A-1! Definitely calling you for any plumbing problems.

So here is an honest unbiased review of this company. I would probably give this company more like 2.5 stars. I was pretty desperate when I called early yesterday afternoon with a backed up bathtub. They did manage to squeeze me in later in the evening but also charged extra for the after hours visit. The guy came, nice enough, and snaked the tub - in and out in a matter of minutes. Apparently, the tub was fixed and I paid just over 100. The next morning, during my shower I discoverd that the tub was still not draining properly. I Immediately called the company and let them know and they scheduled a time for him to come back. Assuming that any reputable company would back up their services, I double checked that there would be no charge for the 2nd visit. She began to tell be that there would be a service charge and that is when I flipped the f'in script. After speaking to a woman, she explained that they charge by the hour and that including travel time I now had a 15 minute credit. I explained to her that he snaked the tub once and left in a matter of minutes so I should have more credit than that. She said she would give me 30 minutes and call it a day. Fine. Guy came again, in an out in under 10 minutes. This time he used some type of vaccuum and snaked it again. This time he got the blockage. Yaay. Bottom line - this company does not guarantee their work!! Also there is nothing budget about this company! They would have surely charged me again if I had not put up a fight. The job should be done right the first time and if not, that should not be the customers problem!!! That is not good customer service.

After struggling all Monday, trying to find a plumber to install a new water heater, I actually was thinking of giving this company a call to get a quote. However, when I started reading their reviews, it brought back bad memories of my one contact with them a couple of years ago. At the time, I wanted to write a review but given the circumstances, I didn't but perhaps I should have. To explain, the termite company came out to do ground treatment and unfortunately, drilled right into a water pipe in my lanai's concrete slab. The termite company workers were really apologetic and tried their best to drill a hole into the slab to expose the pipe. They had already called this plumbing company, saying they used them whenever they had problems like this. By the time the plumber arrived, the two workers had opened a fairly big space but they said their drill bit was shot and they couldn't do any more. The termite company workers assured me that this plumbing company was very good and would take care of the problem.

Well, from the moment the termite company workers left, all I heard was grumbling from this plumber who claimed to have 20+ years experience! He criticized the plumbing renovation that had been done at my home several years before, saying it hadn't been done to code - really, you can tell that from just looking? He grumbled that the termite company workers hadn't opened up a bigger hole and that his drill bit would be worn down! And this complaining went on and on so I finally went into the house so I wouldn't have to listen to him. In the meantime, he apparently called his boss to come down and check that his repair work was done correctly. Really? I thought you were SO experienced. His boss did come down, seemed very friendly and approved his work. Fortunately, the plumber said he had run out of time to close up the hole and left, saying he would return the next day. Since there seemed to be a lot of moisture in the hole, I decided to slip a plastic bag under the fixed pipe and when I got up the next morning, there was a puddle of water on top of the bag.

When he arrived, he looked a little chagrined when I told him it looked like he hadn't fixed the pipe but then all I heard was this is really hard to fix!
Gee, isn't that why he's there? So, another call to his boss but it seemed this time he solicited advice on how to ensure the leak in the pipe was properly addressed. This time, I suggested we leave it overnight and do the plastic bag test again to make sure there the pipe wasn't leaking.

I can't imagine how much the termite company was charged for this guy's work. I should have said something to the termite company then and suggested that this might not be a plumbing company they want to keep on retainer. Anyway, I know my termite company is under new ownership and I would hope the new owner has reviewed how much they have paid out to this plumbing company and made some changes.

Oh, and I found a plumber with whom I had a nice conversation with a lot of good advice about selecting my new water heater and he will be installing it.
I am certainly happy that I didn't have to call this company.

This is based on my most recent service only. To be absolutely fair all previous experiences were 4-5 star. I have used A1 about 4 times within a span of a year.

I requested service on 5/7/2020 when my tenant notified me of kitchen sink clog. They were able to service that same day. On Friday 5/8/2020, I received an email copy of the invoice showing a charge of $623.04. I noticed the charge since I requested the same service in Feb 2019, and the charge for that was $195.03. I sent an email reply on 5/8/2020 asking if there was an error since it shows charges for 3 plumbing technicians. I called the office on 5/9/2020 morning to dispute the charges and spoke with Rochelle who stated she was going to have the dispute specialist Matthew call me back on Monday 5/11/2020.

5/12/2020 no call back

5/13/2020 no call back, I decided to call around 1100a, spoke with Matthew and he stated he will need to call me back. He called couple hours later and stated will waive the third plumber fee of 1 hour ($110.00 plus tax). I thanked him for the adjustment, but stated that I am still disputing the apprentice charge since I had the same service last year and it took only one technician. I stated that I don't see the reason for the second technician, and asked him to remove the apprentice charge. He stated that the person was there to assist and monitor the drain cleaning as well as to collect the water. He stated the apprentice charge was also less in rate and the time.

He then stated to use very specific settlement language with me, clarifying that he made an offer, I then countered that offer, which he declined. (My assumption is with this language is that there is no agreement so the original fee waiver, so it is now off the table) I told him the right thing to do is to waive the 2nd person fee and he disagreed. We came at an impass, so then I became level 10 upset and hung up the phone.

I called 45 min later and left message to call me back.

5/14/2020 I received a call back and stated while I do not agree with the invoice charges, I will agree to the 1.0 hour adjustment to settle and consider the matter closed.

The last bit of feedback I did leave with Matthew:
- I stated that I was always pleased with the previous services. I used them 3-4 times in last year alone.
- I stated the rate was always fair in my opinion.
- I still 100% disagree with the rate for this last job as it was multiplied by the number of technicians. I stated that the rate should be for the job itself, and if I had known three plumbers were going to show I would have declined the job, or at minimum requested a different day for a single technician since there was no overflow emergency.

I am still hoping they will do the right thing and perform another credit.

We woke up to a leak yesterday and needed a plumber. Put out a call to the other guys only to have them call me back and tell me their tech and manager are not answering. Maybe NFL playoffs were more important. Anyway I forgot that I had used A-1 years back so I gave them a call. Gave me between a 2:00-5:00 ETA but they came earlier. Took a little while to finally locate the leak but he found and fixed it. The price was very reasonable for a Sunday emergency call. Your tech Tracy was very professional and pleasant to talk to. Keep up that great customer service. I'll be calling you folks from now on anytime I need a plumber.

A-1 is very easy to reschedule.
I contacted other plumbers prior but they were not available. When I called A-1, they were able to find someone available right away.
On the day of an appointment, Louis came right on time.
He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the issue.
I had so many, in face, too many questions.
He was very patient and answered everything that I need to know.
He also gave us some valuable tips how to handle a few minor situations where we no need to call for the service.
Most importantly, he got the job done super fast.
I recommend Louis and A-1 plumbing service.
I can see my self calling them again for any future services.

I'm going to rate this highly based solely on the service recovery by Andrew. Andrew rocks! I've used them several times from hot water heater to toilet install etc.

I had 1 inoperable shower and 1 with a very small leak. Jim showed up - not in the best of moods but everyone has a bad day. Tells me the inoperable shower needed a new faucet. I agreed to do that. He tried to fix the leaking shower with a new cartridge. He told me - I have bad news, the entire assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of at least $1,100. Yikes. Told him I'd think about it and he went to fix other shower. What Jim didn't tell me was my slow leak was now outright a steady full on drip of water and not just a slow leak. Suffice it say it couldn't be left like that. Not cool he didn't even tell me until I looked at it. He said - nope, nothing could be done. I called the office while he was at my home and they agreed to send a supervisor/Foreman. It was nightmarish.

Andrew came about an hour later. Very professional and said he was here to fix the situation. He agreed my assessment the current situation was unacceptable. I'll cut to the chase - he completely fixed the issue 100%. I offered to proactively pay (it wasn't the $1,100 fix) and he refused.

A-1. Andrew saved the day. He knew I was very upset yet stayed calm. He's a keeper. As for Jim, I think you need to seriously figure out what is going on. The situation was beyond unacceptable and a proposed $1,100 fix obviously wasn't needed. Nobody should have to go thru this. And A-1, there is even more to this story.

I've used A-1 a number of times and was satisfied with their services. However, after the last service I had some questions regarding charges. We came to a compromise and I thought all was well. Then, the next time I needed service, I called, expected them to come; received a call back about an hour later saying to find another plumber. Because I questioned charges previously, they said find another plumber. What's up with that?

Scam. I am a business owner who has gotten screwed from these guys three times. This past time is the final straw. 300$ to come fix my drain. Brought all his tools, 5 mins later said he couldn't do it. Still charged me 300$. The guys are not even plumbers. Just young kids running a scheme.

Honest, legit service. Had a leak with my disposal. Had to make an appointment about three days out (including New Years so pretty good). Andrew came in shorts and slippahs and I was thinking I need my garbage disposal fixed not install a surf rack but he knew his stuff.

Replaced my disposal with a cheaper but mid range model - which seems just as good. He recommended moving the disposal from one sink to the other but couldn't due to the piping layout. But he explained everything clearly and humored my not-so-handyman questions.

All in all getting charged for a new disposal isn't what I called for but the labor hours and retail price of the disposal seemed pretty reasonable. And he cleaned up after himself pretty throughly.

I'd recommend A-1!

(The old disposal was old so even though I didn't want to replace it initially, it was a good idea. I didn't get the feeling he was up selling me - and the new, cheaper one is pretty quiet :)

Our trusty old plumber retired so we asked around for referrals. A-1 Budget Plumbing was highly recommended by a condo mgr for service, customer satisfaction & price.

We were extremely pleased with same day scheduling after suffering too long without a kitchen sink (once we figured out which faucet to buy) and especially with a family reunion we're hosting on
Sunday! Lucky for us we had Maka w/29 yrs of plumbing experience and doesn't even look old enough! We found a great deal on a Costco faucet that was perfectly installed & works better than our much more expensive Grohe that leaked. Also had a couple of new Max Champion 4 Toilets adjusted better, water-line to the new dishwasher corrected and new timer to the water heater recalibrated. Wish our remodeling contractor used A-1 Budget Plumbing to begin with & highly recommend them for their excellent professional workmanship.

I can also attest their charges are quite a bit lower than those other guys that advertise if you can see Diamond Head. . .I used that company for a washer shut-off valve and had to schedule a call back when the washer couldn't be installed because the brand new shut-off valve still would not shut off?!?

When I woke up to a garage full of water, I immediately Googled emergency plumber Kailua and called the first number that popped up. Luckily, it was A-1! They were able to schedule a technician for that afternoon and he was amazing! He assessed the situation immediately and when he determined that he was personally unable to fix the problem, he called his office and facilitated the scheduling of a specialist for the same day! By dinner time, my leak was fixed and I had running water again. The technicians were professional, personable, and transparent. I also really respect the fact that, even though they bill by the hour, both technicians worked VERY quickly. I was so incredibly pleased with my experience and will absolutely be using A-1 in the future. Thank you!!

Imagine me as Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act, singing, Iiiiii Love Them, I Love Them, I Love Them....and where they go, I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow....

Ok maybe I'm not actually following anyone, except for the plumber who fixed the water spouting from a busted pipe beneath my house. Holy buckets, as my midwestern friend would say, when I thought I heard water gushing under the house, I was indeed correct. It was a nightmarish amount of water.

I called 4 different plumbers before reaching A-1. Everyone was booked for at least a week out, and I couldn't even imagine how high my water bill would be by that point. A-1 was also booked for a week solid, but when I pleaded my case, the phone operator said she would make some calls and try to get me an appointment that day.

She called back later and said that despite her best efforts, there was no availability. I inquired about what I could possibly due with my emergency situation in the meantime, and I must have sounded as desperate as I was, because she told me to hang tight, that she would try again.

I don't know what miracles she worked, but shortly thereafter, she came through!! I got a plumber to my house that afternoon. He cheerfully fixed the problem and didn't even charge any of the terrible add-on fees I was fearing. (You know, Adverse weather fee, or Inconvenient Pipe Location fee or I had to crawl under your house fee and the like.) These guys have NONE of that shady behavior that give other repair-types a bad name.

Anyway, I had such a good experience, I've already referred them to friends. And, I highly recommend them to you!

Excellent and professional service!. Thank you to Maka, Peter and Kai for doing a professional job in finding an under-slab leak. According to other plumbing services we were faced with doing a total re-route of the plumbing in our home. Only A-1 was able to detect the specific damaged pipes that were leaking and re-routed only the pipes that needed to be re-routed. This gave us a savings of over 80%! They came out to do the estimate and detection and were able to get a team out to fix the problem that exact same day. And water usage down time was at a minimum getting our system operational within a few hours. Thanks A-1 for a job well done!

Called A-1 to repair a broken pipe which was flooding my apartment. I had shut the water off but had a whole building of people waiting for water! A-1 arrived and quickly resolved the problem courteously and professionally. I watched him work and he definitely seemed very capable and experienced - assessed the situation in only moments and had the job done within 15-20 minutes. He even took off his slippers before he came in (though I told him it didn't matter because it was so wet anyway from the flooding). Pricing was reasonable - lower than I expected for a 10pm call. 4 stars only because they were approximately 1 hour later than they had stated. I understand this isn't entirely in their control (other jobs w/variable resolution + traffic, etc) and I was still very satisfied - but I have to give an honest review.

Would recommend this plumber to others.

Never again. Rude to the scary point. Angry young man , seem to not like his job. Gave him our trash can then our bucket because he brought a BOWL. and of course it ran over. Tried to help him and he got even more rude. Didn't even want to empty the bucket because it our fault it clogged up. Never again A1 !!

Very impressed with A-1 Budget Plumbing!

They came in the 3 hour time frame they promised and fixed the problem in less than an hour! A completely professional experience; from the initial phone call to the notification that the plumber was coming to the actual repair. Their vans are also very well kept and clean. The entire image of the company is pretty impressive actually.

The price was reasonable considering the service and time it took for them to analyze, assess, and fix the problem. They do charge by the hour and include a snake fee. I believe the hourly price was around $130. On top of all this, they are available 24 hours a day, everyday.

It may be cliche to say, but I can tell you that customer service makes a huge difference in what consumers will do to support businesses. Even if something goes wrong, if a business model can continue to display great customer service, they will succeed and make the customer happy.

I will definitely do business with A-1 again, very professional, prompt, and available 24/7.

I love working with A-1 Budget Plumbing. They are so courteous, and when you called they are always eager to get to you as quickly as possible. They do charge a little extra for holidays and weekends but it isn't that much if you're in a crisis. I just had them over today because I had leaking in the sewage pipes. David Martinez was my technician. He was such a pleasant person to work with! He identified the problem and went to work to quickly resolve the leeks and the odors. The invoice total was very reasonable. With such an unpleasant problem I was so happy to get it resolved quickly and not have to pay that much for it! I have used A-1 Budget Plumbing many times 4 things as large as replacing a septic tank. But mostly it is just little things that come up and they are always happy to help! I would recommend them to anyone who has plumbing problems and wants them resolved at a reasonable price with a good measure of efficiency and a work ethic that is very hard to find in companies these days. Ask for David Martinez, he is great!

A-1 was referred to us by our building manager. We needed someone that was willing to work in condos due to the liability concern. They performed a simple valve stem and tub spout replacement. No big deal.

First time out, they charged us for what seemed to be an inspection. Basically telling us we needed to order a part. Nothing was fixed but nothing could be fixed. I wish plumbing companies don't charge for things like this.

Second time out, they replaced the valve stem and spout. After the plumber left I noticed two things... The water wasn't hot enough in the shower and the caulk between the tub spout and tile was separating. Yes like swiss cheese. What this told me was that the valve wasn't adjusted right and the spout pipe wasn't cut far enough back - there was too large of a gap, which was the initial problem before the plumber came out the first time. The plumber should have verified the sink water temperature or let me know how to adjust the valve. We were charged for the work and honestly, we were over charged the labor time (1.25 hours vs actual 1 hour). Don't understand how that works.

Third times the charm. Different plumber from A-1 came back and corrected both issues at no extra charge.

I commend A-1 for standing by their work and correcting the issue. To me, that's what makes companies stand out, their customer service. It was a little bit of a hassle to have to take off of work twice in order to meet them at the apartment. But I appreciate their scheduler calling to let me know updates on when the plumber would arrive.

Overall, I would use them again and recommend to others.

We needed to have A-1 come back because there was some corrosion on the connection with the copper line and water heater (installed by them in 2016). I was a bit disappointed and concerned that it was happening in just under 5 years from installation. Sharon took my call. She was really polite and professional. Bob came on time and was patient with my folks (their apartment). He finished the job within an hour and said it was warrantied. Sharon even followed-up with me after to let me know. Though I was disappointed with the issue, they took care of it in a professional and courteous fashion.

I requested Manager Matt to call me to discuss solutions but did not receive a call and now posting this review. This company charged me $198.95 (see copy of invoice) for less than 30 minutes of inspection time and diagnosis is all wrong. Also, why am I being billed $80 for an apprentice that they are teaching. I would have no complaints and gladly pay if the diagnosis was correct but my church plumber pointed out that the water leak is not in the tub overflow drain but most likely in a pipe behind the tile above the area where the tiles have caved in (caused by water damaged drywall). I am a logical and fair person and need to know what I am paying for. Otherwise, refund me or else let's have a small claims court judge decide for us.

They are life savers!! Our upstairs shower had water come up over night and sit, THEN it turned out our neighbors upstairs shower was doing the same. It turns out the way the piping is there was one giant clog deep down in the main pipe that we shared. I had to go to work in a few hours and it was a Friday and we both didn't want to pay for a weekend plumber fee. Then I found A-1 plumbing and I spoke to Jackie and she was very friendly and got someone to come down not only the same day, but in an hour and a half! I believe it was Kai that came and handled our call, but he was very friendly and efficient and took care of the issue very quickly! The price was even better!!

11.02.2020 = This is the third time I'm using this company. Yes, they are THAT good! Karen is a joy to communicate with and I was given updates on pop-up earlier times and when the plumber was on his way.
So, anyway, I had to replace a kitchen faucet. I was a little wary of what the new faucet would be like as the old one had all the desired functions. But, the plumber had a nicer one in his truck and replaced the ugly one with this beauty. He also did other small repairs. I'm very happy, very satisfied. He wrote on my invoice that replacing the hot plastic stem angle stop is recommended. I wish he mentioned this to me before he left, but he had a full schedule and it was already into early evening. But he was very professional, very skilled.
I still have and will keep this company on speed dial. They're the 5-STAR BEST!

I've dealt with plumbers my entire life due to working in the real estate business and I always experienced that unless you know them personally, you will receive only acceptable service and expect to pay more than you should until yesterday. I've used A-1 Budget for many of my previous company's managed homes but I finally used them to replace my water heater at my primary residence. Bob and Nainoa from A-1 was amazing. They were so thoughtful, thorough and helpful in diagnosing a future problem. The prices were fair and the service was excellent. Our upstairs bathroom sink decided it would be super fun to spring a leak early on a Sunday morning. We called A-1, and they said that they would send someone out between 10am and 1pm. Joe showed up before 11am, and immediately diagnosed the problem. He fixed the leak in record time; start to finish, he only took an hour. The bill was reasonable, and it was really great to work with him, as he was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We'll certainly consider A-1 for future projects!

Extremely expensive. Charged me $100 just for coming out to look and then another $300 the next day for a supposed 2 and a half hours worth of work. In actuality, the work should have only taken about an hour. He probably spent a good 20 minutes just chatting away and showing me how the washer worked (could've figured it out myself especially if I knew I was charging me for this) another 20 minutes hanging out in his van doing god knows what and then another half hour rounding up/down the time he got there. Sandy explained to me that they round down if the guy gets there at say 9:30, they clock it 9:15 and then if he leaves at say 11:35, they clock it at 11:45. Completely ridiculous and unethical in my book especially considering that he actually got there at 9:38 (I know because I kept checking my phone because I had to be somewhere and was wondering what was taking him so long) and finished the job at 11:20. I can't figure out why everyone on here keeps saying that these guys are a good deal. $400 to hook up a gas dryer (already turned on by the way) and a washing machine??? No thank you. I will be taking my business elsewhere next time.

I had some plumbing issues with my washer faucet and toilet last December. The guy that came over, sorry can't remember his name, was very respectful and professional. He did a great job and was not just very efficient but quick. He even made sure to walk me through my options and was patient with my questions. He didn't complain about having to come back another day to finish when materials and staffing were not readily available. Additionally, the cost was cheaper than some other quotes that other plumbing companies gave me without even coming down to take a look at the problem. This is the first time that I used A 1 Budget Plumbing, and I am so glad I did. I've been having problems with the bathtub drain for a long time. The first Plumber I called opened the drain a little bit and told me that I should call a Pro-rooter. When it would not drain anymore I called Roto Rooter, BIG MISTAKE. I was charged double of what I paid today and still did not clear the drain completed. The Plumber said that I had a big problem on the drain and the only way to find out what was wrong was to go in with the camera to see what was going on. I asked how much would it cost and I was told over $300.00 , so I said no thank you, I can live with the little drainage, but I can not afford to pay that much for you to look down the drain. Now the bathtub drain was not draining anymore, so today I decided to call A-1 Budget Plumbing, as I see the green vans coming to my building all the time. I was lucky there was one of their plumber working at my building and I was told he could come after finishing the other job. It took the plumber no time to clear the drain and I am so happy with the job, not only that, but I was charged half of what Roto Rooter charges. So if you need a plumber Call A-1 Budget.

This company is very professional and their worker was right on time. My bathroom faucet was dripping. I tried myself to replace the washers only to find out the shutoff valve was seized and would start leaking when I attempted to turn it off....not a job for a novice. So the expert replaced the valves, then, when attacking my faucet found it was shot - non-repairable. He replaced my crappy faucet with a shiny new high quality washerless model (Delta) and now it puts my old basin to shame! Great job done in a little over one hour of labor.

Within service window, Lloyd was very professional, fast and he was equipped with both experience and good equipment to clear a drain clog that has vexed me.

He explained the bill, which was less than I budgeted for, and since I've used the company to deliver + install Toto toilets and a Delta fixture, service the pressure regulator and put in a new on-property main cutoff valve, change all the football screw-type cutoff valves with the new ball types, solder in a new cutoff for the dishwasher feed.

All the work that A-1 has done for me so far has been under-budget, reliable, and trustworthy. From the initial calls to dispatch/schedulers, the first person that you talk knows something about plumbing and your needs, they schedule carefully, communicate at every step of the way, and I think that it's a great model for a company.

I really am not interested going cheap charlie. If you're interested in quality of life, check them out.

We are in the process of selling our home and our realtor recommended these guys to help fix a couple plumbing issues noted in the home inspection. I'm glad that I took his advice. A-1 was very professional from beginning to end. We contacted them on a Friday and were able to schedule their service the following Monday (it wasn't an emergency so we were flexible). On the day of the appointment, A-1 was great in communicating the technicians location and arrival time, arriving right when they said he would. Kai (the technician) quickly went to work on our master bathroom toilet as well as the dishwasher, explaining his solution, and fixing each problem quickly. When we received the invoice, not only was the price reasonable, it was detailed describing what he did, which was perfect to show proof of service for the buyers of our home. Terrible customer service & irrational warranty policy. Plumber didn't test leak that he was supposed to fix. I didn't get a chance to test fix due to finding the proper tub spout. The new fix leaked from the same spot when I was able to use a diverter...CS was quick to point out the warranty expired when it was never fixed in the first place. No response to emails...& phone rep. readily pointed out the expired warranty. Minimum hourly $100 for incomplete work....looking for another company

On a Sunday afternoon my sink began to leak and overflow. After placing about 10 towels on the floor to absorb the liquid, I called numerous plumbing companies to receive a quote. None of the agencies responded, except for Roto-Rooter, which replied by giving me an appointment for the following day. I kept digging for a plumber, and A-1 Budget came up on Yelp as the only open business. The dispatcher said they would be able to come immediately (within the hour). As promised, I received a call from Joe shortly thereafter. Joe was professional, personable, prepared and willing to conduct his business in a timely manner. He wrestled with identifying the problem, discussing my options, and resolving the issue (common drain line plug). Finally, after about 2.5 hours of clearing the drain and cleaning up a second pool of waste from the sink, Joe had finally cleared the line and both me and my neighboring unit were clear to drain our sinks. Overall, A-1 Plumbing provided an excellent response time to my residence, and resolved a hairy issue when other companies would not respond.

Our under-mount kitchen sink developed cracks radiating out from the garbage disposal. Blanco warrantied the sink, but that was the easy part. I can't tell you how many contractors and plumbers we discussed the sink replacement project with, and no one felt they had the skill set to do this complicated job.

Duke, one A-1's plumbers, had come to our home to fix a leaking shower valve. Duke was pleasant and made quick work of our leaks. Duke suggested I call the office and ask for Josh, another A-1 plumber. Josh is truly amazing! Immediately upon arrival, he went to work demoing our old sink, disposal, and faucet. Within hours Josh somehow figured out how to install and support the Blanco replacement under-mount sink without removing our countertop! Josh is wonderful! He is tidy, didn't complain about the tight working conditions, and left our kitchen very clean. I cannot say enough positive words about Josh and A-1 Budget Plumbing.

After having a different plumber (Matt from Low Cost Drain Plumbing) pull a no-show on me, I called around to 10 other plumbers in town to see who could come out ASAP. We only have one bathroom in a really old house, and the sink was absolutely not draining. We checked the trap ourselves to make sure there wasn't a clog (there wasn't) so we needed a professional to come and see what the problem was. I'm so happy I went with A-1.

The woman I spoke to on the phone was friendly, helpful, and efficient. She scheduled an appointment for me the very next morning. DJ showed up on time and was also very friendly and I felt completely comfortable having him in my home. He came in, I showed him the problem, and he got right to work. He snaked our bathroom pipes and found a clog about 15 feet in. Once he got the problem solved, he completely cleaned up after himself, and left my bathroom in perfect working order. YAY! He was a total professional.

I was able to pay with a credit card, and he printed out an invoice for me from his van. I feel that the price for his work was completely fair. It's good to know that they offer service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in case of emergency! I highly recommend DJ and A-1 plumbing and will definitely call them first if we have any troubles in the future!

I needed a plumber at my mom's house for an emergency job on a Sunday. Lei was very helpful and explained the weekend rates as well as the house call and drive times to me. If anyone doesn't understand what it takes to get a plumber on a Sunday afternoon do your due diligence! The technician arrived on time, masked, and was wrenching within the first 3 minutes. I purchased a home and A-1 plumbing was hired to fix plumbing prior to closing. They didn't actually fix the issue they created shut off valves so that it would look to me the buyer that the problem was fixed. When we moved in a noticed a leak. I called them to fixed the work they were hired for. Bottom line, They didn't do the job the first time and charged previous homeowner about $1,200. Then when called back to fix it they didn't honor their work. On top of that I called back to speak to the supervisor and she still hasn't called me back. I would never hire A-1 and will let my network of Family and friends know how they do business.

Just had Josh of A1Budget Plumbing come buy and I must say, he was wonderful and thorough with the work he did. He actually came and fixed a job that another plumber had originally started on and clearly either had no idea how to do the job or was to lazy to really even try (Mind you, the other company came in twice for the same issue with 2 guys on each trip). Josh came and did the job by himself, using a camera to find a leak from upstairs shower into my kitchen ceiling below. These are my preferred vendors. I've used them about 3 times already. But today. For some reason, they totally failed. I set up an appt for the evening, their first availability. Window was 4pm-7pm. I had to call them at 6:45 and 7:45 for updates. They said they would call me back, but both times they didn't. Pretty much wasted a good 5 hours of my time.

Confirmed. The office didn't call me back as they said they would. Instead I get a call at 8:30 that they are on the way. Of course I'm not going to fault the plumbers. It's the office that didn't do their job

But now that I own a house I reached out to them and found out that they charge $110 an hour and that is like more than twice what is average on Oahu so unfortunately I can't hire them they're too expensive.

If I had posted this the first day I had used this plumbing company, it would have been five stars. My shower was backing up and I call A1 on a Monday and they could come out Tuesday. The guy who came out, Glenn, was competent and nice. Fixed the problem, so I was thinking about writing a positive Yelp review. I had another smaller job for the following day. Again, they only could give me a three hour window. I took off from work and waited for the plumber to come. And waited. My window was from 2 to 5 pm. At 4:10, I gave the dispatcher a call, and she told me that the plumber was already in my area, and that I would be next. So I waited. And waited. Finally, at 5:30, half an hour after my window, I called the dispatcher back, and asked when the plumber would be coming. She told me that she had just gotten off the phone with the plumber, and he would not be able to make it that day. I was upset because I had taken off work to wait. I asked her why she didn't tell me he might be running late, especially when I had called her and she knew I was still waiting. I got a very wooden apology. I think this is unacceptable. The plumber should have reported his time issues WAY earlier to the dispatcher, and the dispatcher should have checked with the plumber way before half an hour AFTER the window ended. My Yelp review was sliding toward the bottom of the scale.

Another plumber came the next morning, and he was friendly and helpful, so my Yelp review started to trend upward a little. He needed to order a part, so told me they would call me when it was in. A few days later, I got a call that the part was in, and they scheduled me to have it installed the following Friday afternoon. About midway through my three-hour time slot, I got a call from them, asking if they could reschedule because they were running late. I told them that I really needed the part installed, and that it would probably only take about 20 minutes (based on the time it had taken the plumber at the previous visit). The dispatcher was obviously not happy, and tried to talk me into rescheduling - but they don't work weekends, so they wouldn't have come until Monday. I reiterated that it wouldn't take long and that I would like it fixed today. A plumber did show up in the late afternoon and promptly installed the part.

So my feelings about A-1 Budget Plumbing are mixed. I had some good and bad experiences, and it seems from previous reviews that the last minute cancellation is sometimes a real problem for them. If someone does come, however, the work is done professionally and well. So, mixed bag.

WOW! If I could give them 10 stars I would. We had an emergency after hours call with a water leak in the wall behind the shower. A plastic part belonging to the shower valve had cracked and it would take until the morning to get the replacement part. Andrew, the plumber, fixed up an aluminum piece that allowed the water to flow into a bucket over night so that we could have the water on in the house until then. That is out of the box thinking! We love this company and have used them a lot over the years! I am glad to finally take the time to give them the kudos they deserve! We highly recommend them!.

Its the weekend, so its time to do some work around the house. I have just enough tools to fix a few things and sometimes cause more damage than if I'd left well enough alone :)

While trying to to take off an old ugly bathtub spout, I snapped the existing corroded pipe clean off. It was beyond my level to repair it now, so I called A-1 at 4pm on a Saturday and was told they could get someone there between 6 and 8 and that they'd call 15 minutes before he got there. Their prices were slightly higher on the weekend, but it was worth it to get done now.

The dispatcher called back at 5:45 and said someone was on their way. The van pulled up right at 6pm sharp. I showed Alex (I think that was his name) the pipe and he quickly assessed the situation and promptly got to work.

As he worked on soldering a new pipe in I asked him a few questions about the valve seats on the leaky faucet I was repairing. He kindly let me borrow his seat wrench to install the valve seat. As I was doing this, the the el-cheapo valve seat I'd purchased from Hardware Hawaii snapped in two! He went to his van and gave me some superior quality ones to use instead.

After the faucet was fixed, I had him snake a drain as well -- It works great now.

The bill was beyond reasonable -- I know another local plumber would have charged at least twice as much and availability would have been at least a few days out.

A-1 Budget plumbing gets 5 well deserved stars from me because they:
1) Arrived on time, with no prior scheduling -- on the weekend
2) Got straight to work
3) Did the job right
4) Finished quick
5) Were courteous
6) Very reasonable price

I'm very glad that I called A1 and don't have to worry about getting a plumber on Monday....

Easy to call and schedule an appointment- we needed faucets installed in the master bath. Luckily it wasn't an emergency so was able to wait til the following week. The day off the appt I got a call from the office right towards the beginning of the timeframe to let me know the technician was coming. He called me when he arrived. He was polite, completed his work, easy to pay by credit card. Got the invoice by email. And that was it! It was so painless and just very professional.

Had a plumber come by for a pretty simple job. Just wanted an outdoor water line extended and add a couple of spigots. The job was all spelled out before hand, yet the guy had to go back to the shop to get something. They charged me that and travel time for a total of three hours even though the actual time at my house was maybe an hour. Called to complain and they said well they can't carry everything on the truck. Copper pipe and fittings and mounts how hard is that to cary?

After failing miserably with two other plumbers, A-1 was finally able to get the parts to fix the broken valve on my shower. The parts acquisition took the longest (not A-1's fault), but they were able to get parts for the now defunct company that made my fixtures, which was awesome in and of itself. Their representative, Andrew, came in and knocked out the install quickly and also took the time to repair shoddy work on a separate pipe from another plumber. His work was awesome and very noticeable compared to the previous plumber, clean and well executed. We will definitely hire A-1 again!

I've used A-1 for work in my own house and at our church. Most recently I called for help with a few non-emergency issues at our church. The initial appointment was set for several business days after my call and then was cancelled due to the plumber being off work. The rescheduled visit was serviced by Jasper. I found him efficient and knowledgeable of commercial plumbing peculiarities. He even fixed a leaky valve that I was afraid had to be replaced. The cost for the work was very reasonable. I would have given 5 stars if the first appointment wasn't cancelled. I can trust A-1 to be professional and competent and will use them again for home and business needs.

I had a clogged kitchen sink. I tried pumping it and used a hand snake to no avail. I called a several plumbers, but only A1 Budget was able to come the next day . Kai, from A1 Budget came within the 3 hour period as promised. Kai was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He was able to clear the drain and agreed to also replace a valve to the water heater...a last minute request. The bill was reasonable and I was able to pay with a credit card.

I do not recommend this company at all. I read the bad reviews but figured that comes with the territory with most companies but thought if I covered all my bases by emailing pics, videos of the problem then there shouldn't be an issue. It's a small toilet leak so how hard can it be?!?!
CONS
1. Not once will they tell you the clock starts ticking when their service van heads out of the company lot. What if there's traffic?? Why not let the customer know beforehand? Yesss you are paying the service guy to drive to your property! They don't tell you this until you question why 20 minutes was added to your bill!
2. The service guy forgets a tool so he leaves for 45 minutes. You pay for this!! How can he forget a tool when I've sent pics and videos of what's wrong? It's a five year old condo and toilet!
3. You pay up until service guy drives OFF the property! If he's cleaning his tools or on the phone- you are SOL. They don't tell you this until you question why 30 minutes was added to bill! They have a GPS and monitor when he drives off so that's how they justify this.
4. When you question the bill, be prepared to deal with a very condescending, patronizing manager that knows nothing about customer service. Laughs at you the whole time and keeps asking you why you're upset. Maybe bc I don't like dealing with bs such as this!

PROS
1. Repair guy was professional and on time.
2. Leak was repaired

Overall, my tenant said service guy was only there for 50 minutes yet this company had the audacity to charge me for 20, 45 and 30 minutes! That's total of 95 minutes!! Now does that sound fair? Oh and the kicker was when the manager accused my tenant of lying about the 50 minutes! Luckily the onsite property manager was there too!

So the first plumber came to fix my washer and ended up breaking something off instead and said I still had to pay. He had bad manners and didn't seem to care that he didn't fix the issue at all yet I had to pay. The second guy came and I politely told him about the issue and then he insulted me and said, Do you know what the word level is? I should have kicked him out right there. I thought the visit would be close to free because they didn't fix the issue but instead they charged me $300! I called the company later to get some credits which they only gave me like $40 in credits but still most companies would have a warranty for the issue that they didn't fix. I only called these guys because my building recommended them but NEVER AGAIN.

My advice: STAY AWAY. My impression is that this company is full of rude and unprofessional tough guys with no manners. There are better plumbers out there who charge less and have better manners.

My kitchen sink was draining only if I ran my disposal so it was probably something stuck in my main pipe. I removed the P-trap pipe an found nothing so the blockage had to be in the pipe that fed into the main line in my condo. Called around and some plumbing companies wanted $135 just to show up and then everything is added on. Decided to go A-1 which gave me a rough quote over the phone of $95/hour+snaking fee.Lloyd from A-1 showed up and fixed in about 45 minutes. He replaced the P-trap pipe and retro fitted my main pipe which kind of rusty (original pipe in condo). Very neat and efficient. Total bill was $118 + parts=$134. He also gave me some tips to keep the sink drain clear.

Would give zero stars if possible. Ok, back up. It started well. The person who answered the phone when we made the appointment to have our broken shower faucet replaced was pleasant, and so was the young man who came out to fix it. The work was clean, and the repair good. Our bathroom is done in burnished bronze fixtures, a fairly common finish, but the repairman didn't have that finish so he asked if we wanted to wait or have him install a chrome loaner (his words) faucet until the bronze came in, at which point he would replace it no charge (again his words). We said okay, go for it. He did. A couple days later, the manager called me to say they wouldn't honor that agreement and that we were stuck with the chrome loaner. (The tech put on the receipt that the customer would like to order bronze trims for this shower valve to match original finish. That includes shower valve trims and handle, tub spout, delta escutcheon cover, but we should have insisted he put his verbal promise to actually change it out on there as well.) When I tried to explain that, the manager quickly became hostile and argumentative, constantly interrupting me and saying we'd changed our minds about the finish and wanted them to pay for it, but the original finish was burnished bronze and the STILL EXISTING shower spout, drain, and drain valve are burnished bronze, which looks ridiculous with the chrome faucet they put in, so why in the world would we have agreed to chrome if it was supposed to be permanent?! We never agreed to chrome fixtures that don't match anything in the bathroom or even in the shower. BAIT AND SWITCH. RUDE. ARGUMENTATIVE. BELLIGERENT. Going to have to pay someone to fix their work now. $800 down the drain. STAY AWAY. Wish I could post a pic...

We had been having problems with our toilet bowl leaking and wobbling! My husband tried to tighten the bolts so the toilet wouldn't wobble however it cracked at the bottom. We bought a new toilet bowl to replace the cracked one but my husband was having a hard time screwing in one of the bolts. We were worried because our house is old built in the 70's that maybe the problem was the foundation shifting and would need to have a big expensive job done to drill new holes in the foundation to fasten properly the toilet bowl or even worst have to crack our bathroom tile to fix the problem!
Lloyd our very friendly and professional plumber came to our rescue! He cleaned the area where the bolts go, replaced a part that needed to go inside the area where the bolts go, replaced the toilet ring and caulked around the bottom of the toilet bowl. While he did all this my husband watched him. Thank goodness no drilling,breaking floor foundation or tiles torn apart needed! Lloyd fastened our new toilet bowl perfectly, no wobbling, no leaking!
We have used A-1 Budget Plumbing many times in the past several years in fact more than 5 times in the last 10yrs and have always had good experiences with them! They are very professional,affordable than other plumbing services we've used in the past, are on time when they schedule when they will be coming to do the job and in our book have excellent customer service!

Absolutely recommend!
My toilet was clogged and called a plumber 5 days later, I was still waiting for him to show up. Gave up on him, and my friend recommended A-1 Budget because he used them previously for his house and for his father's condo. Fast to respond and cheap and friendly and large staff to send out. Sure enough, office was very friendly and sent Stephen in a couple of hours. Stephen was friendly, sized up the problem immediately as chicken grease from my kitchen sink and snaked it in just a few minutes. Total chargeL $114. A bargain!! (I had previously used a friend/plumber and he charged me $1000 for a kitchen sink snake job.)
A week later, my shower basin backed up. My experience with A-! was so positive, I called them again. Within an hour, Daniel showed up. Equally friendly and pleasant, and also immediately sized up the problem as chicken grease again from my kitchen sink. Snaked it again, but deeper this time, and presto, clog cleared. Charge was less than $25 (time charge) because it was a second call-back to the same problem. A bargain once again!!
Absolutely recommend! Large staff of plumbers, fast response, no travel time charges, bargain pricing on time charges, and the plumbers are all friendly, pleasant, knowledgable and communicate what they identify as the problem and what they will be doing to solve it, and offer suggestions on how to keep the problem from recurring. Great!

They rescheduled for the following week.

I was told to expect the plumber between 11a and 2p. I had to pick up my daughter from school at 1:30 so I left. Unfortunately, that's when the plumber came. I got home at 2:10 and called back A-1 and they sent the same plumber right back out. Luckily he was still near by. He came in and got right to work. He explained to me the problem he found with our toilet and how he was going to fix it. Long story short- a little over an hour later I have a toilet with new bolts drilled in, flapper, and wax ring and no more water seeping from the base. It came out to $224.61- over $100 less for the 30 minutes Roto-Rooter spent trying to fix my leaking kitchen faucet last month. I wish I had called A-1 then too.

My toilet mounting bolts were rusted and actually broken. The toilet was rocking and could fall over any minute. I contacted A-1 Budget Plumbing Saturday evening. They could come Sunday, between 12-3 pm. Unfortunately, they couldn't come, but they set up another appointment on Monday, between 11-2. They arrived ON TIME and my old toilet was replaced with a Toto oval toilet, within an hour. The bill was very reasonable and way below the quote. Mahalo

Whenever we have plumbing issues, our first choice was usually A-1. They were very responsive and efficient...but I'll have to reconsider if I'll use them again. Couple weeks ago, I called them for a leak in the house. They sent a plumber (Andrew) and he was very good and professional. Took a while but he finally determined that I have a leak in the piping in our concrete slab. He was able to cut and cap the leak but after 5 hrs tracing it, he had to leave and couldn't finish the job because he is going on a trip. Another plumber will be sent to finish the job of re-routing the water from an outside spigot.

Seems like a simple job. Basically cut existing pipe on the exterior of the house, route about 30' of new piping along the wall, and connect to another existing spigot to run water into the house for the affected area. There was a 90 degree bend but there were no obstructions and no trench digging. The second plumber came with a helper and it took them 4 1/4 hrs. We were not expecting 2 men to finish what seems like pretty simple work so my wife questioned why we are paying for 2 people. We ended up paying just 1 hr for the helper. Also, 2nd plumber said there is another leak after installing new piping. I was not home and asked to speak to plumber for more details. I never got a call back. When I called again to schedule a follow-up appt for the new leak, I was told to look for a another plumber because we didn't pay the helper. I was told that the helper worked hard, digging dirt and working the entire time. I had to explain to their office the scope of the work and that there were no dirt digging, just cut and weld to existing piping. Also, I also expressed how I felt the scope of work did not justify 2 man working 4 1/4 hrs each. A-1 finally agreed to send the first plumber (Andrew) down to reassess the work and check out the new leak.

Andrew came by and agreed with me that the scope of work did not need 2 people for 4 1/4 hrs each. Also, there was no new leak. He ended up changing some additional valves and toilet pump for me and I gladly paid for that service.

So, my complaints are that: 1) I feel we were over charged for the amount of work done and there seems to be a disconnect between their field guys and the office on what work were actually done for their customers. 2) There were no attempt to follow-up with the customer when issues arise before blacklisting us. They didn't try to get my side of the story. 3) I was not happy that the 2nd plumber said there was another leak without properly checking where it was and it turned out there wasn't another leak.

I would give 1 STAR but Andrew was very professional and if I have to deal with him every time, I'd be perfectly happy. But from this past experience, I'll have to seriously reconsider if I will be calling A-1 again or recommend them to my friends.

Had the broken main shut off valve replaced in the condo unit. Because of the good reviews in Yelp, I contacted them to replace the valve. Like some of the plumbers that quoted a flat price , they quoted a time and materials quote. I went with them, because I wanted a quality job and figured pricing like that would insure it.

The main office was easy to deal with. They were familiar with the complex that they were gonna install the valve in, plus they had a plumber who has worked in the complex, so I set up an appointment to get him to do the job. They had to order parts to complete the work. They contacted me when the parts came in and we set up the appointment. That day before the appointment, they texted me to make sure we were all set.

Andrew the plumber contacted me when he arrived ( on time) and I contacted the site manager to shut off the water to the building. He explained to me what he was going to do, before he started. He was conscientious and did a quality job. When he finished , he cleaned up everything and you never knew he was there. We tested everything and it worked perfectly. I can not say enough how good Andrew was.

If I need any more plumbing done, this is the company I am going to do business with.

I'm so disappointed by their service this time around. I feel I was taken advantage of. All I needed was a leaky faucet in the shower fixed and a slow drain snaked. A-1 is the preferred vendor at my apartment but I'll be talking to the condo board about that. I ended up paying $426 and it took 3 days of staying home waiting for the plumber!

When I called to make an appointment the woman advised me that just to come out is $110 (the hourly charge) even if it's just for an assessment. Totally understandable. She asked if there were any other issues beside the faucet and slow drain. I was going to on my own just buy a new flapper for the toilet but she kept asking what else so mentioned that.

So the first day I knew he might not be able to fix the leak without a water shut down. When the plumber came up, all he had was a small tool box. He installed the flapper which took like 5 minutes. Then opened up the leaky faucet but he said the valves were frozen so he didn't want to chance it breaking. I asked about the slow drain and he said he didn't have the equipment but another guy had it and it'll just be the actual time charged. But I was like huh? I told the lady 2 specific things and the only thing fixed was the one thing I could've fixed myself! So I asked him (like by the way since only 20 passed) if it was an issue with the bathtub faceplate not being flush against the tub. He said he had a new one in the van so he could fix that now. So he goes to the van and it took him like 10-15 minutes to come back up. He was done within an hour and he said don't get the face plate wet since it should take 24 hours for the caulking to dry. I got charged a total of $137 including the parts. He asked again if I want the drain snaked but I told him no need since it's not that bad and I didn't want to pay anymore money.

I had timed the 2nd call with a building water shutdown on Monday. I kept telling the woman this water shut down is all day from 9am-5pm so the plumber can come out anytime before 5pm. But she kept talking over me and said well it's kind of short notice and it's hard to schedule someone for a specific time. So I told her again the shut down is till 5. Then she tells me oh, I'll just have the same plumber come at 9. Uh, ok.

So the 2nd time the same plumber arrives around 9:30am and this time he has a large rolling toolbox and another toolbox on top. So he starts fixing the leak and we agreed that he would replace the valves and stems for both faucets to alleviate future issues. Then after a few minutes he tells me he needs to get sockets from his van. Again? And now by the way, the slow drain had suddenly gotten much worse! My hair catcher is now floating around the tub even when I just take a quick shower. It took him less than an hour to replace the stems and he still didn't have the snaking equipment so now I have to make another appointment to get the drain snaked. I guess that's my fault for not being adamant to the office woman that this time I definitely need the drain cleared. He emailed me the receipt so I didn't see it right away and it showed the service call to be 1.25 hours but he was here less than an hour. So I called the office and told her he made a mistake but she said it was travel time. I was not notified of this prior and wasn't charged before. So this round cost $227 and I still need another service call. They keep telling me it's just actual time charged. So another plumber comes the next day and he was done in 10 minutes even after taking 2 phone calls on his cell! This charge was $65. 15 minute charge + $35 for the snake equipment! Really?! If they just sent out this guy from the beginning, I would only have had to have 2 service calls. To top it off, I didn't notice it until after the 3rd service call but the screws on the tub face plate are rusty! The plumber installed a new face plate but used old screws? WTH!

Got a next day appointment with an hourly rate of 95 dollars to replace a kitchen faucet with owner supplied one and replace two angle valves. Total cost for one hour labor and several parts was 150 dollars. This was 300 dollars less than the estimate I got from another large company, (Steve's) which operates on a flat fee basis. My recommendation is to go with the hourly rate firm and forget the flat rate idea. I was much better off. Labor should not be as high as 200 dollars an hour...that is what I costed out the flat rate place confers on its customers. Save money and get same result, Try A- 1 Budget. Professional product, good result, fair to the public on Oahu.

Overall had a good experience with A-1 Plumbing. Dennis did an excellent job - he was professional and worked quickly and I have zero complaints. Five stars for Dennis!

The only constructive criticism I can offer on the logistical side is that I wish the folks working the phones for A-1 had communicated better on the timeline for when the repair would take place. I imagine in an industry like plumbing it's impossible to predict how long the previous job is going to take, so saying you'll be there at exactly 1:00 pm isn't feasible. That's the way things go for afternoon appointments.

However, it would hugely benefit the customer if A-1 proactively called to update the estimated ETA instead of me having to call every hour or so and pester them for an update (I had to sit on hold every time). Taking a whole afternoon off of work to be home at 1:00 pm is frustrating when the repair doesn't actually start until 4:30 or 4:45 (the original arrival window was 1:00 to 4:00 pm so they were only outside their estimate by 30 minutes or so, not several hours).

I would definitely use A1 again because Dennis did such great work, and for all I know their communication is head and shoulders above the competition (thankfully I don't need a plumber very often). However, for the reasons described above, I gave this review 4 stars.

Around 11:45 pm we noticed that water was overflowing onto our bathroom floor. I called A-! to get a technician out to fix our tub. It was backing up water & the toilet didn't flush properly. The lady in the phone was nice enough. After all the pleasantries she told me that she would get a technician to give me a call. After a minute or so he called back. When he asked my location and found out that I was out on the west side he didn't seem very willing to help. He said I'm in Kaneohe right now...is there anyone closer to you that you could call? REALLY?! This company boldly states on their advertisement that they're 24 hours. He also said that he had a 75 ft machine and if he came out he would still have to charge us. I really don't care what you have to haul. If you're advertising that you are 24 hours you need to be willing and able to come when paying customers want you to do the service that you're suppose to provide. OTHERWISE CHANGE YOUR AD! I ended up calling the main number back and let the customer service lady what kind of worker she had provided. Needless to say we didn't have them come out to service our bathroom. Would NOT recommend this to anyone.

I was surprised by almost every aspect of my experience with A-1 Budget Plumbing. I'd like to compliment them on their honesty and kindness. In my brief experience some plumbers will try to exploit and overcharge customer who are not plumbing-savvy.

Before taking a chance on A-1 I tried price sourcing at 2 other plumbing companies. I was quoted $1800 from Roto Rooter, then $700 from another (name omitted) for the following:
The replacement of sink shutoff valves

A-1 Budget Plumbing fixed everything in alittle over 1 hour. The gentleman-plumber even made a small adjustment for something else for free! And guess what? The total bill was $202.00!!

The only reason I'm not giving them five stars, is because a plumber and an apprentice came in two separate cars. Apparently a veteran plumber is $110 per hour, whilst an apprentice is $80, not to mention my building charges for parking (which is absorbed by the customer).
Prior to their arrival no one told me that it required two of them (and it did not judging by the positive conclusion).

I called their office to inquire about this, and luckily their supervisor just sent the apprentice away.

In closing I am thankful for the great pricing and work. Recommended!

Had a tub leak and Kevin was over within an hour with the replacement cartridge parts already to go. The old cartridge was corroded and fused in the brass valve and Kevin had to chisel the old part in pieces. After some serious muscling, the old was out, the new went in and Kevin was off to his next job. The repairs were less than half another plumbing outfit wanted to charge/rip me off. I am a new fan of A1 Budget Plumbing!

Professional, experienced, no-nonsense, diligent, and won't quit until they find and fix the problem and it's done right! Standard rates, and worth every penny to me! We had problems with two toilets over the last year -- they came and fixed the first, doing all kinds of needed investigative work and some intuitive stuff too -- I inspected all the bad, deteriorating parts (the toilet was new, but the original installer did not do a very good job) and confirmed what they were saying. The toilet no longer leaks and the bad odor is gone as well. The second bathroom started to have an odor and so we figured the same problem (from the original install) was the cause --so we called A-1Budget again (Bob is great and so is Cruz!) and they finished up in a timely and professional manner -- keeping me posted on each thing they found and what the fix would be, etc. The office staff is tops and will find a crew member to suit your schedule! I'll use them again, for any plumbing problem or question. Highly recommend!

We used them years ago and we were quite happy with the service. One of the outside faucet pipes broke and started spewing water, so we decided to call A-1 again. They list themselves as a 24 hour service, so I called to make an appointment. I gave them my address and the operator acknowledged it and even knew the exact area, she said they will call me in the morning to schedule an appointment. The call that I got in the morning was not what I was expecting. They called to say that the don't service my area. It would have been nice to have been told that the night before. So if you live in the Kahuku area, don't bother to call. As to the reason, given why they don't service my area was that if he gets hurt driving out here, it screws up the other workers. Why even list yourselves as mobile if you don't want to drive, pretty lame. It really looks like a decision was made to not do the job, because the phone operator knew exactly where I lived.

I am very happy with the work!! I had quite a few small plumbing jobs needing attention. They suggested I email them a list of the repairs - which I did, I also included photos showing the existing fixtures so that appropriate parts could be brought. In three hours, Manu replaced all the inside parts for 2 toilets, replaced my kitchen faucet and repaired the handles on two vanity sinks. He also replaced 2 shower heads, inspected a 3rd toilet and 2 garbage disposals. There may be more....he did a LOT! And he is such a nice young man. It is such a joy to have everything working perfectly!! Thanks Manu!!!

No call no show on first attempt to give me a quote for a 3hr time frame. Then next 3 hr time frame no call no show had to reschedule after wasting a whole day. Next day showed up after 3hr time frame to quote me for a full day's work on a job my plumber did in a half day, for half the cost, and they charged $100 for coming out and giving an estimate. Never going to call A-1 EVER again.

At my boyfriend's house there are 2 bathrooms that are back to back. One of the roommates called him & told him that their bathroom was flooded. We checked the other bathroom and the tub was filled with dirty water & also, the floor was all wet from the toilet.

We called A-1 Sunday morning & they sent a guy named KAMAKA. This dude came, & snaked the drains from the roof. About $140 for his time & travel.

Then he said it's not bad working on the weekend because people feel bad for you so they give you food or drinks. with this hint hint in his voice. My boyfriend paid him & he left. NO DRINKS OR FOOD GIVEN.

Bathrooms & showers were working fine all day Sunday.

Monday morning at 5 (OMG) the roommates call/wake up my boyfriend to tell him the bathrooms are flooding again. This time, a little bit worse then Saturday.

A-1 sent the same guy -- their time frame of him coming was between 1p-4p. BIG GAP IN TIME!! The guy didnt come until about 3:45pm but, my boyfriend had to go to work (i took off of work).

He snaked the drain & i noticed him taking a LARGER machine up on the room & I asked him if it was longer then the smaller one? He said no, their same length...its just the cord that's thicker So i asked him how long did you snake on Sunday? he said oh, only 30 feet...today i'll go the maximum 75 feet & i told him why didnt you do that in the first place? he said well because after the 30 feet it cleared. but i figured your drains would clog again some time this week because i cleaned the pipes, so all the build up from the clean up must've clogged the pipes again -- REALLY?? YOU THINK??

So the guy instructed me to turn on the shower & then turn it off once the water starts coming out from the bottom of the toilet. I did that. Then the guy said the toilet shouldn't leak so much -- & i told him well, it's leaking more then it did yesterday. i filled a whole bucket! So, the guy obviously doesnt really know wtf he's talking about.

The guy was done & gave me the bill. Now, because he came yesterday to unclog the drain again within the same week we would only pay for the Snake Machine & the time, but not his travel. Well...the bill was f*cken $150!! Because KAMAKA didn't think of using the larger snake machine in the first place & on top of that didn't try that on SUNDAY!! I called my boyfriend & told him & he wanted to speak to the guy. We told the guy we weren't going to pay & that i wasn't going to sign anything.

He called his manager Sandra & she told him that i have to pay as much as i can now & they will bill us later. So i paid the effin guy & then he was badgering me about signing his damn paper. I told him neither I or the roommate could sign. Only my bf could & he said well, this doesn't make you liable for anything, this is just verifying that I came & did the job & we kept going at it for a couple of minutes. Finally, I signed just to get him to leave the house.

my boyfriend came home all pissed because he knew the guy was going to badger me into shit that i didn't have to do. F*CK I DIDNT KNOW.

Never using A-1 again. WASTE OF MONEY!!

Called a day in advance to schedule replacing a laundry sink drain.

Given a 4-hour show up window time by Jackie who answered the call and introduced herself as the operations manager.

After waiting out near the end of the 4 hours, finally got a call from Jackie. Told that they can't honor my appointment. Claimed to have been delayed by the last job that took longer than expected.

If it is a one-man/crew operation, it would be more credible excuse. The video on their website claims to have 17 crews working for them.

Sounds like they will squeeze in more jobs even if means bumping off customers who had been previously promised appointment time.

Getting bumped may be understandable. Getting a lame excuse really breaks the trust factor for me.

A1 did an install on October 16, 2014. They overprice small parts as if they need the extra money besides charging $90/hour. They forgot to bring a piece and the installer told me that there would not be an extra charge to come back out to complete the dishwasher install. On October 17, 2014 when I called the office they acted like a bully and told me that I would have to pay for another installer plus parts. I will never deal with this company again. They are for profit and not pro customer.

I needed to remove and replace my kitchen faucet and also to change out my water shutoff valves under my sink. I called and spoke to Sandy and she was very helpful, did not try to upsell, and told me that she would give me the weekday rate of $90/hour (this was on Saturday and their weekend rate is $98/hour). I told her that I wanted to get an estimate from Roto Rooter first and she was very open about scheduling me after Roto Rooter's estimate. RR gave me a two-hour window to respond..it took them three and a half hours to respond..Needless to say, RR quoted me $414.00...auwe and ay sos!
Helloooooo A1! So i called back Sandy and she said that they can still accommodate me and sent over a plumber, Albert, who arrived within 30 minutes. I provided my own faucet so all he had to do was install it. Albert was very friendly, told me what he was going to do before, during, and after. He even told me how to fix some common plumbing problems/maintenance which saved me even more future money (but less for their business, lol)..he was a straight-shooter and didn't try to sell me anything either.
Thank you A1 for a stress-free experience!
Oh BTW, it took Albert only a little over an hour to do the job..final price = $130.00

My 1st A1 Plumbing review was back in 2013 when I came back to Kailua to swap out tenants in my rental property. I said when I come back, I would use them again.

Well I'm back and living in my house.. No more renters. I had to call A1 on a Saturday morning to fix a problem I caused. For a Saturday, not a long wait and like before, it was worth it. Jim, The Plumber saw the problems and knew exactly how to fix it. Also had a nice conversation about why we picked Kailua for our homes.

As for some of the 1 star ratings I read ... A1 has never asked me for credit card info before service, only the method of payment.

Keone, Joe, Celeste and Sandy made my stressful plumbing crisis bearable by responding to my call immediately. It was Memorial Day weekend and I was able to get help at 10:00 PM. Very few companies are able to deliver any service at that time of day. I recommend them unconditionally!

Plumber showed up at around 11:30 for a 10 a.m. appointment (I called at 10:10 to ask for a new ETA and was told that I didn't actually have an appointment but instead a window that spanned multiple hours; would have been nice to know that when planning my day!). By my count and per a contemporaneous e-mail, he showed up at 11:42, but he says he showed up at 11:35. Either way, the Plumber was out of the house and smoking in his van at 12:50 p.m. and gave me the bill at 12:55 p.m. He tried to charge me for 1.75 hours work. When I pointed out there was no way he had been there that long, he adjusted the time by a fraction of an hour, but I was still definitely overcharged. I was running late to a meeting (thanks to them failing to inform me about a window instead of an appointment) and didn't have time to discuss it further. It's too soon to say if he did good work, but I can tell you that they make a hefty profit on charging significant sums for parts (my bill approached $300). Ultimately, the fact that he wasn't honest about his time means I will never use this company nor recommend it to anyone else.

I'm new to Kailua and I have used several different plumbing services over the last few months fixing things that I 'inherited' with my new (old) house. It is my opinion that A-1 is definitely a cut above the other services I have used. A-1 has visited me twice for unrelated issues and both times the men who came out (Keahi and Kai) were polite, professional, efficient, and provided helpful plumbing tips. In fact, the tip that Keahi gave me saved me more than the charge for Kai's visit. That's awesome! Additionally, the office staff that I have interacted with were polite and accommodating. Finally, their prices are very reasonable. Double thumbs up!

A-1Budget Plumbing is the best. I called last night at 9:30 pm after discovering that my leaky toilet needed a professional. They have a service that answers calls after hours and they took a message for the office to call me to schedule an appointment. Lily called me first thing in the morning and scheduled an appointment the same morning and texted me when the plumber was on the way. We had a clog somewhere downline of the kitchen sink and the washing machine. That means no laundry and no kitchen until we can get this taken care of! Our utility sink was full of dirty water. Called A-1 first thing in the morning and was able to schedule a same day appointment for that afternoon. We had to adjust the scheduled appointment time due to work schedules and A-1 was flexible and moved our time up a few hours.
When the technician arrived he was professional and fast! Snaked out the line and charged a very reasonable $115. We're so glad we read the Yelp reviews to help me decide to call A-1 plumbing first. Mahalo.

Called them out for a hot water heater repair. Initial response was good but they replaced a 50 gallon with a 40 gallon even though a 50 gallon was quoted.

They refused to admit the mistake. Three weeks later and after paying more money to have them come back and replace the 40 with a 50, we now have what we were to get in the first place.

Read all documents carefully and make sure you actually get what you are promised.

The A1 budget plumber's clerk Sandy was very courteous and professional over the phone. I called for their rate and she was prompt in telling me the details. Within an hour, I got a call back and notified me that there is a plumber available. I was surprise especially since it was a Sunday. The rate per hour on the weekends compared to the weekdays was understandable; only a few extra dollars. The plumber Greg arrived early and was instantly eagered to do the job. He explained every step and he also informed me that I have a small leak under my sink that I should take care of, but informed me it is not an emergency and I, myself can do it. Installing my ice maker line took less than an hour and the overall service was professional and very informative. If I need a plumbing service, I will most definitely use A1. Thank you very much for your service.

I recently discovered what I thought was a toilet leak in my home. Had another plumber come to check it and had it fixed. Well, the water continued to leak and I decided to do my own digging around. I ripped out the toilet and tore the floor off.

The toilet was indeed leaking again after the repair but water was still on the flooring. I opened up my cabinets and saw water in the kitchen telling me that this was probably in the wall. Dreadfully, I pulled out our vanity and cut open the bathroom wall. I stuck my hand around the pipe and found the leak. It was the kitchen sink drain.

I called A1 Budget Plumbing and got an appointment the next day early. Keahi was my technician who was happy to see that the work was easy since everything was set up. Within an hour, my drain was leak free.

* Not cheap, but seems reasonable and I don't feel swindled.
* Would recommend to others and intend on using them in the future.

I'm clueless when it comes to plumbing and can't properly describe our problem/fix but...our house's plumbing system seems to be all CPVC piping? instead of say, copper...so after 15 years we come in to remodel the home only to constantly burst pipes by lightly tapping them once we're in the wall. Usually it's something boyfriend can fix, but this last time we realized was a more complicated fix.

I had no choice but to bite the bullet and call the professionals. It was pretty late and I just wanted to get to sleep so I scheduled them for the next morning. I was told between 10-1 @ $98/hr to come out to Ewa on a Saturday. Price is high but I felt was reasonable; and I expected them to show up closer to 1, dreading spending all day without water.

Around 11am the plumber showed up (didn't get a name, but yay for coming before the deadline), he took about half an hour to assess the situation and left to get parts. According to our invoice: Replaced broken CPVC pipe in downstairs bathroom ceiling and ran new copper with two tee's going to the upstairs vanity sink and then one running to the upstairs toilet supply line. Tested okay. He was here for a few hours going through the floor/ceiling and ended up replacing more than we expected (in a good way, we'd rather have copper). This leaves me feeling a little more relieved so we don't have to deal with any more plumbing issues.

We got our invoice and I was expecting around $700-$800, but it came out to about $480. The invoice was well detailed, and the plumber was quick & professional.

I have leak at bottom of toilet. A1 budget fixed it but I saw water seeping out again 2 days later. I called them back because of their 30 days warranty. They came and educated us that its ok to have some water seeping out but fortunately no gushing out. He was nice and told us that we are still covered if more water seep out within the 30 days warranty. Thanks!

We have a condo in an older low-rise building in the middle of Waikiki. While the place has lots of aloha, the plumbing is over 50 years old and it's starting to deteriorate. We had a leak that was originating in the unit above us. The unit's manager, Happy Isles Property, called in a plumber who, after looking at the pipes, told her he wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. She then called A1 who sent out one of their guys, Maka. Maka showed up on time, then meticulously tested all the valves and drains independently to pinpoint the leak. So, instead of the massive repairs we anticipated, the leak was fixed with a couple of new valve stems. (The stems been replaced the year before, incorrectly, by another company). Maka ordered the parts and was back the next morning to install them. I've got nothing but praise for this guy, mahalo brah.

I tried to snake out my clogged main water line myself but was unsuccessful. I also could not find a plumber whom I knew who had a mechanical snake. My friend recommended A1 and said the plumber that he uses also recommended A1 so I called them immediately. I got a same day appointment within 6 hours but they came way earlier. Everything was awesome-the service was quick and proficient, the plumber was really courteous and very informative (recommended never to use flushable wipes ever!), and the price was extremely reasonable. I would not hesitate at all to use them again. I'm glad to say that I now have a go-to plumber for plumbing issues.

I had a leak today and panicked being that we reside in a townhouse. I didn't have a plumber to turn to, and so my trusty maintenance guy recommended that I call this company. I gave them a call and they got me squeezed in this evening. Kai showed up and he is AMAZING. Very kind, and very on top of things! I called him to fix my downward spout leak and not only he did fix that but he also got that tub's drain working again! We had a slow drain for as long as we owned this place (9 years to be exact), and I called a nationwide company to come and take a look at it 9 years ago, and the guy told me we had small pipes after snaking the pipes and we took it as that. Well, Kai noticed our slow drain and asked us if he wanted us to take a look at it. My husband said we should, so we did, come to find out there was a dish soap cap (looks like Palmolive) with a pull spout (not shampoo cap) and it was the one thing that was slowing the drain pipe! What the heck?! Well, Kai took the time to figure out what was going on and I am SUPER SUPER thankful for the help he provided! My family doesn't have to worry about flooding our bathroom now!!! THANK YOU, KAI!!!!

10 days after work was performed by A1 Budget Plumbing a coupling came apart and flooded my apartment as well as my neighbors apartment. I'm approaching 48 hours since the pipe ruptured and I'm still living in a wet apartment. A1 Budget. Plumbing denies responsibility. During my military career I've been in 5 wars, and it really bothers me to know these are the people I was protecting and fighting for! I was blown off by their employees, their owner and their insurance company. Poor customer service in a time of despair!

We have used A-1 many times over the years for various projects and plumbing issues. Each time they come, they are prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. We've never had to call them back for incomplete or poor workmanship. They have always done great work. I don't mind paying for this service because I'd rather have it done by a professional. I'm not a DYI kind of girl They have never made me feel like a dummy for not being able to fix plumbing. Trust me, sometimes it's been an easy fix, but they fix it with a smile. Today's service call was excellent. Our hot water bathroom faucet could not be turned off. The plumber got here quickly and changed out our faucet, drain and shut off valves under the sink. All within an hour. He was so friendly. We provided the faucet, so that saved us a lot of money. I'll let you know that if the company provides parts, it will cost you a lot more. So you're better off going to a hardware store and picking it up yourself if you know what you need. That way they will charge just for the service call and hourly rate. Like I said, I don't mind paying for the service. All in all, I am very happy with their services, from the answering service, dispatch and the plumbers.

worst service call ever. i wouldn't recommend anybody use them.

they were called to clear a clogged drain but spilt alot of water that went under the vinyl planks. talked to the manager and they said it's incidental and not their fault.

they still are charging for the service after manager i spoke to understood it was a mistake by the technician.

i understand mistakes happen, but when they refuse to understand it caused me other problems (and cost) and still wants to bill me for the job, that is unacceptable.

i hate to leave a bad review, but this one was necessary after the company and manager refuse to admit a wrong was made and make it right.

I called A-1 Budget Plumbing for a slow draining toilet located at an elderly relative's home. This company exceeded my expectations. The person answering my call was courteous and communicated very well. Without me inquiring, she explained their rates and billing to ensure that there would be no surprises. She was helpful in scheduling a timely appointment and went as far as explaining their rates for work on weekends and weekdays. On the day of the appointment, as promised, the technician called us in advance and let us know that he was in transit. He arrived and fixed the problem within an hour. He was very nice and knowledgeable. I will call this company for all my plumbing business going forward.

This is my second time using A-1 Budget Plumbing, the first time I don't believe Yelp existed yet :). I was very satisfied both times that I've had to use their services, today was the most recent. They arrived earlier than expected, and the plumber assigned to us was Jessie and he was very thorough, professional, and explained every detail of the job. He informed us what caused our problem, and also gave us some tips on how to prevent problems in the future. A-1 Budget has very reasonable rates, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs plumbing work done.

These people are good. We've used them twice on semi-emergencies (since my apartment is in a pretty old building) and in spite of the fact that we needed them on pretty short notice both times, they were quick, reasonable, personable, and showed up when they said they would.

One particular thing that earns them the 5 stars is consistency. We had two different guys show up, once when my fiance was home and once when I was there. I regret that we didn't retain the name of the fellow we had the first time, the second was named Bruce, and we had excellent experiences with both of them.

We're not much into giving high grades, but these folks not only did a good job to begin with, they gave additional value added in an unexpected way. Both times they were good about explaining clearly and patiently what they were doing and also gave some information on what to expect in the future from the old plumbing. Their explanations were clear enough that one piece of information was enough to save me some time and money by my being a lot more prepared then I would have been otherwise when I ended up having to do some similar type of work myself on plumbing in my mother's house. Not sure if there are very many situations where you see THAT kind of additional cost savings.

It's never a fun thing to need this kind of service but if we do need it in the future, these folks are the ones we'll call.

Had a shower fail this week, A1 sent Shawn out today to fix what on the surface was a minor handle being stripped. Shawn was here right at 9am when I was given the window of someone coming between 9am -12pm.

It turns out there was a LOT more involved, old corroded valves and old pipes. Shawn was able to get another plumber to cover his other appointments and stuck with me to get the job done. Very good and professional, I would recommend Shawn from A1 from a scale of 1-10, he is an 11!

If you are looking for a well-run, capable, and reliable plumbing company, this is a great choice. I have used A1 for quite a few different needs, including both repair and appliance installation for a dishwasher. This company knows what it's doing and plumbers arrive when they are scheduled to! If your repair takes less than an hour, try to have other tasks ready to fill up the rest of the hour, because they have a one-hour minimum for the first hour. Their staff and dispatchers are extremely professional. I have also tried using one of A1's main competitors, and there is no comparison to A1. Highly recommended!

I've used this company couple times in the past. My experience with the plumbers were good and they were very informative, however the recent service for the replacement of the wax ring for the toilet was unacceptable.
The plumber did mention while removing the toilet that there shouldn't be caulking, but never mentioned that he cracked the tile and left after I made the payment. I noticed the damage to the tile when I went to clean the bathroom. Immediately called the company and sent photos. The manager Matthew called me couple days later and told me I should've known!! Why would I know if it wasn't explained to me. He totally refused to take care of the damage. Now I have to fix the tile and get another wax ring. Very disappointed by his attitude and service. I will never use them again.

Great service! I called for an appointment on a Saturday afternoon and had a plumber at my house on Monday morning. Tony knew exactly how to eliminate the leak in my toilet tank and took care of the problem in less time than it takes to write this review. Awesome service!!! I was referred to A-1 Plumbing by a friend who shall remain nameless (lol). Called and made the appointment with no problem. Lily says that the plumber would be here between 3-6PM. So normally, like any other companies, you'd think they'd show up an hour later or close to last hour. Nope! The plumber arrived at 3, right on time!!! He cleared the clog out of the main line in literally 15 minutes or less. Although not a guarantee that it has solved the problem, I would take that any other day as I am in need of a warm shower. Ha! If it's still clogged, they'd be happy to come again and take a look at the problem but this time with no snake charge fee. Woohoo!

The most I would recommend these guys for are basic toilet installations and snake repair. Asked if they understood specialty toilets like Briggs vacuum and they lied and said yes. They charge for travel time including traffic. Unless you have a Home Depot toilet, I recommend use someone with more experience.

I have been using A-1 Budget Plumbing for years. Had an issue with bathtub drain and called on a Tuesday and although they were busy already, they called back to offer a late appointment the same day or first thing the next day. Kai (plumber) came out on Wednesday and took care of the issue. He was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I totally recommend this company for your plumbing needs.

Wow! What a fine bunch of guys!

Me and my neighbor had our corroded shut-off valves and pressure regulators replaced. Andrew and Kamaka went through HELL after they discovered they couldn't get the water shut off due to some other issue with the line. Long story short; the city had to be called to shut off the water farther up before they could resume their work.

These poor guys ran into troubles they weren't expecting, and at no fault of their own. I'm telling you, they busted their asses! They also took the time to check our faucets to see if any dirt or debris blew through the lines, which would have clogged the line.

It seems to me these negative reviews are either: 1) You're cheap and expect excellent work at a paupers wage, or 2) You're blaming these guys for your crappy day. Either way, it doesn't reflect the excellent work they perform.

I will certainly be calling A-1 Budget Plumbing for any more of my plumbing needs. And you won't regret it when Andrew or Kamaka show up!

I just had the worst experience I've had in a very long time. The man who came to do the job was very rude and that's an understatement. His whole attitude was very arrogant and he was taking very slow strides to the van after he supposedly was waiting for me in the lobby. This company charges by the hour and he said I am being charged while he waits for me to fetch him from the ground floor and while he takes his slow strides to the van for no apparent reason (he didn't say that part).The unit that needs work is at the top floor of a very high, high rise apartment. I wanted the unit to be ready for an open house tomorrow for a minor plumbing job. They must think I'm the owner of this place and will bill me under an address I don't live at! (I'm only the realtor!)That's what the man said! He said I was going to get charged for him coming out and that I was committing vendor fraud! Hey here's some common sense advice man. If you are going to have an indifferent, arrogant, conceited and rude attitude to your customers then you shouldn't bother doing the job. This is clearly not his own business but rather he's a hired hand (of many probably). I feel sorry for the businesses owner to have such horrible people working for him or her. They obviously don't know how he treats customers or he wouldn't be there. All this happened after they told me he was going to be here between 11-2 and he got here around 2. I waited for 3 hours!!!! I called a couple times and the dispatch lady kept saying he would be there in 20-30 min. She said this for two hours! Please do not give this company your money. I really hope they fire this guy (I'm sure they will know who I'm talking about). He's not doing you (business owner) a bit of service.

I never write reviews but Andrew deserves a shout out. He was very knowledgeable and patient with the whole process of replacing our water heater. A1 Plumbing provided great service for a reasonable price. The office staff Sandy and Jackie were very nice and helpful. I requested for Lloyd P. since someone wrote a very good review on him. Waited for the weekday since Lloyd was off on the weekend and hourly rate was much lower during the weekday ($95/hr.) oppose to the weekend ($135/hr). Also, my toilet problem was not an emergency. They gave me a window time of 8:00-10:00 am and he came at 8:45 and got started right away. He was very polite and efficient. Got my toilet wax ring removed and replaced with a jumbo wax ring. He put the shims on and made sure the toilet was balanced and no moving. He also changed out my toilet tank valve as water was not refilling up quickly. He did not mind me watching him work as I wanted to learn how it's done and if something I am able to fix on my own before calling a plumber. He was really good about wiping up and cleaning the floor and toilet area after it was complete. Lloyd was very knowledgeable and share some good info as he mentioned not to use Drano as it may be harsh on pipes and bad for the environment. He suggested using Enzymes which you could pick up at Home Depot. He finished the job quite fast and since there was some extra time within the hour he helped to check and ran water down my kitchen sink and bathroom drains which were all working good. He cleaned up everything very nicely and off he went to his next job. I am very happy with A1 Plumbing and Lloyd's service.

I had a leak in the pipes under my kitchen sink. Found out it was more than just a small leak. I couldn't use the sink at all as all the pipes had to be replaced. Of course I needed this done right away. I called A-1 Budget Plumbing, the woman was not friendly or pleasant sounding however she said the service is a set $95 per hour plus parts and they could come out the next day between 10 and 1. I called another company that said their hourly rate was $125. I called another company that said the earliest they could come out was next Tuesday (I was calling on a Thursday). Also, it will cost $29.95 to just come out and look. The woman couldn't give me any other figures. She said the cost depended in the job. I called A-1 Budget back. Ed arrived around 10:30 and changed out all the pipes in an hour. I paid the hourly rate and about $30 for parts. I was so happy because I was scared it was going to be really expensive. Ed was efficient, nice and explained things clearly for me.

This problem with the billing has been resolved and my VISA account has been credited. I would recommend the services of A-1 Budget plumbing and would not hesitate to use them in the future. This problem would not have occurred if I had reviewed the bill on-site before the workers left.

I had a galvanized pipe to a hose bib and the bathroom plumbing that was corroded and leaking. I usually do my own household repairs. I started preparing for the job and bought copper pipe and fittings at the local hardware store. However my back was sore from sciatic damage and I called A-1 to get a quotation for the labor. I was quoted $85/hour for the plumber and $40/hour for the helper. I could have done the job, but I had the materials and decided my back was worth their labor rates and made an appointment.

The truck showed up at the scheduled time and Bruce checked the job to be done and left. Later a crew came to do the work and finished in less than three hours, but spent another 1/2 hour calling the office and preparing the bill which I paid with VISA.

After inspecting their work the next day I found a leak and a bronze pipe that was on the steel side of the dielectric union. The dielectric union separates and prevents electrolysis between the different metals. Also, the plumbing for a hose bib was made by bending the copper pipe instead of using the elbow that I supplied. Instead of a vertical pipe coming out of the ground I have curved pipe. It looks stupid. I called the office to report the problems and the helper came the next day. He repaired the leak and replaced the improper bronze pipe with a steel pipe I had purchased.

Upon inspection of the bill I found that I had been charged $90/hour and $45/hour for 3.5 hours and I was charged for the materials that I had supplied.

I called their office and was told my VISA account would be reimbursed. When I received my VISA bill, I had not been credited. I called the office again and was assured that the bill would be corrected and I would be reimbursed, but I was not. This has gone on for more than three months. Each time I called the office I was told they would investigate my concerns and they would call back. I have never had a return call from them and they have not reimbursed me.

There is a time limit for filing VISA disputes and this time limit has now expired. It appears that A-1 has overcharged me on the time for the job, the quoted rates, and the materials. They have assured me that I would be reimbursed, but have not done so. They have not returned my calls. They have played the game well.

Look at your invoice good! They overcharge in hours, I have the timestamps of when the worker called to let me know he was here 2:29 and the time stamp of when I signed the invoice 4:21pm. How is that 2.25hrs? Looks like under 2 hrs to me? Also, an angle valve for $19.75? That is way overpriced. I will be shopping around for another plumbing company.

I tried to snake my bathtub myself, got the thing stuck in there. Called A-1, they came the next day (on a Sunday). Steve was polite and professional and went straight to work. We ended up having to cut the dry wall to access the back of the tub, but he got the snake out eventually. Took one hour and 15 min. I was very satisfied and would recommend A-1 plumbing to others.

I had a problem with the toilet in my guest bathroom that resulted in water all over the floor and an inability to flush properly. A-1 Plumbing came and worked on it but did NOT fix the problem. When they left, the toilet was still non-functional and their prices were certainly not budget prices. Furthermore, in the very fine print on the back of their contract, they say they are not responsible for anything the moment they are done; no warranty, not even a guarantee that they actually fixed the problem. We ended up needing to hire Roto-Rooter to actually repair the problem. They guaranteed their work.

Overall, A-1 did poor quality work and contractually avoid standing behind what they do. I ended up needing to get the Dept. of Commerce and Consumer Affairs involved.

We called A-1 plumbing for a waste disposal install because ours wasn't working, so I go ahead and buy a new waste disposal off of amazon. We make an appointment for him to come 9 - 12, he arrives 11:45 and inspects the current broken system, he presses the reset button and it starts working. The bill came out to $90.00 for about 1 minute of work, he says that the current waste disposal is a newer model than the new one we have so no need to install. $90.00 for one minute of work just left a bad taste in my mouth, I understand the commute and trouble to get here but still. Did I mention that they had installed the original waste disposal a couple years back, and we used them to install a faucet. We've never complained about anything but this one was too much. I called them to see what they can do but they said that is the minimum charge and it doesn't matter if it took one one minute or 59 minutes. Whatever, I will never use them again, way to take care of a return customer.

The plumbers had been to my house for multiple jobs in the past 2 years. No matter who they send the men are knowledgeable and extremely professional. The reason I give A-1 a 4 is due to the lady who does the dispatching. I believe her name is Jackie. I think I had an issue last year too. I had a 2 day job at my house this week. Three times this week, this lady would misinform me of when the men would be at my house. Today I was heated, I had an appointment this morning. The plan was to call the company and inform them when my appointment was done. I already knew who was coming and that worker will be working another job that morning until I was done with my appointment. I call her at 9:15 and said I was done with my appointment. She replied that the specific worker was at another job. Which I already knew that. I told her what the plan was after my appointment and told her I would be at home in 20 minutes. She said ok I'll let him know. Within 2 minutes she calls back telling me that, I sent him to another job. I flipped out and she corrected herself that she sent him a 8:00 job. Duh, I already knew that, he's already there. I said that, I'm the way home is the plumber on the way to my house too. She said no, she said that she will call me to let know to not to hurry home (I did not intend to rush home). She said that she would call me when the plumber was on the way to my home. I decided to go other places near my house. I waited and waited, no phone. My property manager called me and said that the plumber had been waiting at house for some time. I was heated because this has happened about 3 times to me where the dispatcher told me she would either call when the plumber was on his way and the plumber would be at my house already. She continued to misinformed when the plumbers would be at my house. This cause the worker to be waiting time waiting for me to show up. It made me look bad.

Our toilet would sometimes flush and at others times the water would just swirl then slowly go down.

While it was flushing OK that morning I didn't want to take a risk of it not flushing as it has been doing for past two days. Didn't want to spend another day plunging and using an auger.

Called A-1 Budget Plumbing Kailua. They said that plumber would come between 12:00-3pm. A little after 12n. a lady from A-1 called saying that the plumber was on his way. I like that someone called to let me know.

Lloyd came. Fix our toilet flushing dilemma. He was friendly. He told me what problem was & what he did. Then showed me by flushing toilet with toilet paper a couple of times to show toilet was working. He even apologize for using up the toilet paper which I found funny..

Yay!! Day 2 alls well with the toilet!!

Plumbers seem to make alot of money. Last plumber I used charged me $288 to unclog a drain. I usually use A-1 because I see the vans in my area frequently, so this time I called them up. We needed some drains unclogged and needed it today. Dispatcher lady said $150/hr minimum 1 hour for an 'emergency' call. Okay, that would be cheaper then the last guy right? NOPE... $256. This even after I told the guy who showed up about the last guy charging me $288.
I told him what happened last time and that he should go thru the toilet as the other guy tried a few things and that's what worked. Instead he tried to go on the roof thru the vent. I didnt know that vent even existed but I guess it makes sense. What didnt make sense was it not working and then him having to go thru the toilet like I asked him to.
Also there was a 15 minutes travel charge no one mentioned. Thats $37.50 to drive from wherever he was into town.

It must be a crappy job (ha!) having to deal with toilets and literally, shit, but I expected to pay $150 and the bill ended up being alot more.
The guy did show up within a few hours and he was professional.

Was mining for weeds in my lawn, thought it was a good idea at first, and hit a copper vein. Fortunate for me it was New years eve and I only hit my main water supply.

Called D&S Fry the day after new years but they were booked for the day. They recommended calling A-1 budget and gave me the number. A-1 sent over Kenny after 2 hours and he set right to work.

Kenny was very professional and struggled through mud and rain to get the job done. Great personality and cares for the customers, two things you don't see too often anymore. Highly recommend him and will definitely ask for him again.

Last week, I had an appointment for repair work from 3-6 PM. I had to take time off my day job to accommodate the plumber. He didn't show till around 6:30 PM and didn't leave till after 9 PM. My home flooded on the 12th of March after I had my toilet handle repaired 3 weeks earlier. The tank cracked from the handle being over tightened all the way to the basse of the toilet. Multiple phone calls for management were not returned, nor an email to their company.
Spent six days in a hotel. Still cleaning up and still no response. I have used this company since 2013. Never had this type of service from them. Something has changed, I doubt I will ever use them again.

Our sewer line was clogged and we needed immediate plumbing service. We called at 8:00 am and was told that we could call anytime as we had some appointments and we wouldn't be at home for a couple of hours. We called at 2:30 pm and was told that someone was available at 6:00 pm. He was supposed to call us to tell us he was on his way. No one called. At 7:00 pm, we called A-1 and was told that the guy on call was out to dinner with his wife. He was supposed to call us. At 8:00 pm, we called again. Again he would call us. Finally at 9:20 pm, we called and got their answering service. Someone finally called back at 9:45 pm and had no idea what we needed or that we had requested service. At that point, we're frustrated, not able to even brush our teeth without the sewer backing up. Such poor customer service! Will not advise anyone to use them!!!

Had them come out to look at my yard and not only did they get the diagnosis wrong (they said there was a leak when no leak existed), they charged me for 4 man-hours of work while doing absolutely nothing! Keep in mind, the patch of lawn they spent 4 man-hours looking at is about 100ft long by 10ft wide.

Bottom line is this. If you live on the west side of Oahu, be ready to pay a steep fee for relatively little work. Essentially, I paid $400 for an incorrect diagnosis and a road trip from Kailua to Kapolei. At least have the decency to itemize travel time on the invoice you give customers so they know what they are paying for.

I will never use this company again and I plan on telling all the folks in my neighborhood about my experience.

Today Kamaka and his assistant Chris did an explosive awesome job changing out a 1966 cast iron community stack behind the kitchen/bathroom wall to ABS piping. And just before, they had an early morning graveyard shift job at the Mililani shopping center. Then when done came over to my place in Aiea promptly, on time, and worked on the piping till 12pm. Every thing was check and DONE. They were friendly and professional through the whole process. Over five different plumbers came over and neither returned my call or just straight-out NO SHOWED!

Highly recommend if you are looking for someone to fix a leaky toilet, which is what our issue was. They give you a time window for them to arrive which ours was 1-4..the plumber hadn't shown up by 4 but right when my clock said 4, their office called me to let me know he was on his way, he had gotten held up at another job site (hey that happens :)) I thought about rescheduling because our condo has strict rules (no construction, etc after 6pm). The lady at the office assured me that he would have our project done before then and sure enough he did! He was polite and professional and cleaned up after the job. Will be using them again for future projects!

Honestly the best plumbing experience ever!
My water heater ruptured and was spraying water everywhere and didnt find out untill it was leaking through the wall!! I called 3 plumbers and they all saud oh sorry we will call when somone is available...it is now a week later and still no one called back to check up or talk plumbing! I called A-1 and they said they have someone who can be there in 30mins! They were so kind had to buy a new water heater through them, and was way cheaper than I thought and their customer service was great! Really have the customer in mind! Talked story with the plumber and learned some things along the way. Defintly would recommend!!

Our sinks started backing up. My sister and I are 70+ in age and no other family was home (there are 10 people living here.) We called A1 and they sent a service man within 2 hours. That individual, Louie, fixed our problem very quickly. Louie explained why the clog happened in layman terms and offered suggestions to help prevent this happening again. I had called two other companies to come out to my home to help me with a water leak that we've been having for about 2 months. The first company cancelled our appointment 3 times within a 3 month span. The second company sent their guy out, and he looked at the area and made another appointment for a day in that same week to come out with a partner to look at how to reroute the piping. He later called saying that he needed to reschedule for a couple weeks later. That day came and he came alone and did a confirmation that it was our hot water that was leaking. He took measurements and was going to go back to the shop to talk with his boss and get quotes for us. A week later and we got no call. We called the company and the lady that answered the phone said that they were working on it and that the guy would get back to us as soon as he's done. She was informed that it has been a week that he's been working on it, so he should've gotten back to me by now. She told me to call her back tomorrow to remind her to remind him to get back to me. WTF?! Uh, no thank you!
I am so glad that I stumbled upon A-1 Budget Plumbing cause they came out the very next day to do and assessment and they made a door inside the house to where we had to turn on and off the hot water in order to use it in the older part of the house. They then said that they could come out 2 days later to do the entire reroute of the piping. They came out that day and rerouted everything that needed to be done and they even installed a new disposal in the kitchen and ended up changing ALL the old piping and they cleaned out under the sinks in the kitchen and bathroom. Much more that we would have expected. I will definitely contact this company again in the future! My family thanks you!!

This was our second time using A-1, and if we weren't leaving island, they would be our go-to plumber!! Both times, they have shown up on time, usually within the first hour of the two hour window they give. They work quickly and efficiently, and are friendly too! It also helps that their rates are one of the best I have found on island. The job they completed for me today was more than half off the lowest quote I was given from other plumbers. Give 'em a call!

I should have listened to my dad. As a first time homeowner, I didn't realize you really need to use your other bathroom vs using it as a room for your fur baby.

My dad recommended I call A-1 because they also did work for his place. I listened this time!

It was my first time calling a company do to any kind of work for my home.

I called and the guy taking my call was very friendly and helpful. I requested Paul (per my dad's recommendation) and I was surprised that Paul would be able to help me the next day. But due to other plans, I had Paul come a few days later.

I was able to text some pictures of my faucet which I thought was helpful. The day prior, I also got a reminder text which was also very appreciated.

On the day of, Paul came on time (we were the first job of the day). He was very professional and informative. My dad likes him because he's thorough. He did a great job of fixing my leaky shower handle.

I am glad I listened to my dad and called A-1. I'll be sure to call them for other plumbing issues that arise in the future!

Yes -- I would recommend this company!!! Totally late post like a week late - this is by far the best service I ever had in calling a plumber to save the day of clogged drain -- they were very honest with time of service and price was awesome for a weekend day time call!! The guy that came out since my post week late I forget his name-- he was so awesome in showing us the stuff like hair that was clogging the drain.... females in our house shame on them for not using hair trap

We had used A-1 plumbing before so when we were advised to call a plumber to check on water leaking from the supply line to our newly installed washing machine we called them again.
The tech who came did not run the washer to diagnose a problem. He did cut a hole into the drywall behind our new washer to look at the plumbing. He then said he surprised to see plastic piping and he did not have the right tools to finish the job. Huh???
A-1 took so long to come back to finish the job so I called another company to have a look and they actually ran the washer, found no leaks and told me that it was completely unnecessary to have cut into the drywall!!
The plumbing behind there was totally fine and they had no idea what A-1 was thinking except to up charge me for unnecessary parts and labor!!!
I now have a hole in my garage behind the new washer that A-1 just covered up with a ugly panel...
Never using this company again!!!!

This company has terrible customer service, especially when they don't do the job right in the first place. We used them before in the past and we tend to stick to one company. On one occasion they sent out a plumber to repair our tiolet. The plumber did not do the job right and we had to call them to come back again. A1 tried to charge us again for the second service. We told them that we shouldn't have to pay for a second time if the plumber didn't even fix the problem in the first place. They reluctantly agreed and didn't charge us. Now, we find out that they blocked service to our address.

That's just bad business when you cannot guarantee your service. We will gladly take our business elsewhere where people are honest and stand behind their service. Do not use this company if you want your job done right!!!!

Definitely not budget. They spent 5hrs!!!!!!! Snaking a drain?.. Seriously ? Wouldn't have been that bad is they didn't charge for the whole 5hrs..but they did and the problem wasn't even fixed... When we called to ask for more info/ask why the bill was so high, the lady was just not being helpful... Probably understandable if you don't know how to deal with unsatisfied customers.... But there wasn't even any follow up since we asked to have the person that was charging those hours to call us back or at least some that would be able to justify the hours charged... VERY VERY POOR customer service. I guess some people were satisfied but a bunch were not ..... You decide

A-1 Saved the day! Water pipe broke as we were setting up for a 9th birthday party. A day of slip n slide and water jumpy house with no water couldn't happen. Pua gave us a 3 hour window and our tech was there within 45 minutes. Trying to find handy men, plumbers, electricians and any of those home related workers is frustrating. You always have to worry about people over charging you or doing work that's not necessary to get more $ out of you. You always end up trying to do it yourself only to find out you messed it up more. Well, here comes A1 budget plumbing to the rescue! After having our bathroom tile installed by non-contracted people, we were stuck with a very slow leak that ended up causing more damage than we though. We had flooded the tile (underneath) in the bathroom and had no idea how bad it was until I yanked up one tile piece only to find all this water underneath! We called A1 Budget plumbing and not only did they repair the leak in the toilet, they helped dry out the tile as well. The price was more than reasonable as well. I'm glad they were able to help me. I highly recommend them for any plumbing services! They also take credit card, cash or check for payment!

Found my auxiliary tank for my solar water system was leaking and via a recommendation from my contractor friend I gave A-1 a call to come replace the tank.

After a short conversation and a little miscommunication regarding what I had and needed replacing, I was able to schedule a time for them to come from Kailua to my house in East O'ahu the very next day.

Don and his helper arrived as promised and they efficiently changed out the tank. They were also able to change out a home owner provided kitchen sink faucet. All completed in about two hours.

Simple and straightforward review, they did a very good job and I would use them again, definitely for any urgent issues I have. At $110 an hour, I may not just them for projects I can better plan for as I believe I could have save a couple hundred bucks for this project if I could have shopped around. But they were definitely worth what I paid for and am glad I called them for my tank replacement.

An old galvanized hot water pipe busted under the house. It had been dripping for months. The crawl space is 16 inches!! A1 Plumbing sent Evan to fix this difficult job. This man stayed 2.5 hours under the house laying on dirt to repair the pipes. And throughout he was patient, professional and even still smiling when he finished the job!
We always liked the quick response of A1 to our calls. And their rates are very reasonable. And their plumbers are always nice guys.

My mom has developed quite the skill for hovering and bombarding repair folks with a million questions and never seems to like the work 100% once completed, Doesn't this look slightly crooked to you? and Why doesn't that look the same as the last one? so it surprised me that my parents requested only Bryan at A-1 come out to replace both toilets. They were even willing to wait a few extra days when A-1 had to reschedule because he was not well the day of our appointment. When I finally met Bryan I can see why mom was insistent: he is pleasant and patient with moms many questions. In addition, he was able to do a quick add-on service on the spot to repair a tub drain. He actually had the part in his truck and was happy to do it. Lei and team kept us apprised of his status as it approached our service window and we are now scheduled with A-1 to do a flat-fee hot water heater installation. Would highly recommend A-1 Budget for all plumbing jobs.

Paul came by as promised even though our area was experiencing a power outage. He took out his flashlight and went to work on my shower valve. He quickly reinstalled a valve cartridge that was improperly installed by a plumber from another company which shall remain anonymous. Great job Paul! We had a busted pipe we were unaware was gushing water from about 8pm or earlier to 130am. If I didn't have to go outside at 130 it would have been continuous until 8am. I was in a panic, both my son & I in the stormy weather turned the main valve off. So no water.

Couldn't sleep, desperately researched Yelp & found A-1 as they were 24/7 & had good reviews. Contacted them via their website at about 230am. 815am I called their number & spoke to Sharon. They received only my name but not the brief description of what was needed. So after Sharon listened to my situation, she said due to it being a Sunday the plumbers start a little late. Estimated time of arrival would be 12-3pm, they don't do estimates they just come out & fix the problem ($135/hour plus parts).

Okay I had time to go out & buy water. Driving out of the neighborhood about 840am Sharon calls & informs because of the urgency of us having no water a plumber was on his way out. Turned around returned home & by 9am Joe arrives. It was raining, pipe was in mud he had to dig out some, but Joe did it in about 20 minutes. How relieved I was. Also, Joe didn't mind me asking questions while he worked which I appreciated & he didn't mind.

They accept cash, check or charge. They can email or print you out an invoice from their van.

Service from Sharon & Joe of A-1 deserves 5 stars from me. Your attention to customer service is exceptional. Now I know who to call & rely on. Thank you so much for your accommodation & service! (Breathe a sigh of relief)

Had A-1 Sam & Bob replace the water heater and two toilets with ones that they provided. They called right before the two plumbers were headed to our house and completed the replacements within 2 hours. Both Sam & Bob were super friendly and knowledgeable and their prices were very fair and affordable. Definitely will contact them again to replace the water heater valves in the future.

Very good service. The plumber called earlier than expected and I was out for lunch. He went to the next customer and then called later to check if I was home.

He finished the job professionally and quickly. I had to replace the garbage disposal that is leaking and also fix a leaky pipe on the left side of the sink. All is done under an hour.

Price is reasonable considering Friday was a holiday, Veterans Day is Saturday. It is the same rate as weekdays.

A-1 Budget Plumbing has exceeded my expectations for excellent work at a fair price. This is the sixth time I have called them for work at my home and my two daughters'. Work included repairing a leaking underground service line, replacing bath-shower faucet, replacing broken garbage disposal and changing out double compartment kitchen sink with a new single bowl. On this latest job, I created a problem by installing an adapter on the new sink faucet. Water would not stream out of the spout without spraying water wildly. Maka (plumber) analyzed what was going on and made on--the--spot modifications to correct it. Simply put, another great job done at a fair and reasonable job. I have had a number of not too good experiences with other plumbing companies. A-1 is the best!

The last couple of months I've become a sort of frequent flyer with A-1 Budget Plumbing. I've had them out 4 times for sort of complex plumbing issues.

I live in a 60 year old Mid Century Modern Home that is a great place and fun to live in. However, the plumbing is over 60 years old. Some of it has been renovated, repaired or upgraded over the years but there are still plumbing parts that are a complete mystery. While I'm able to maintain most of it myself and do simple plumbing repairs myself. Every once in awhile something big comes up that is way over my abilities.

A couple of months ago one of the toilets started to get sluggish and the plunger didn't work and then a day later a second toilet stopped working and the plunger wouldn't work on that either. So I decided to try to snake the toilets myself...didn't work. So I gave up and called. The A-1 guy showed up on time and before I could even finish my story, he interrupted me and said, I know what the problem is. Look over there! He pointed out to me that the outdoor sewer pipe was spilling its contents all over the place. I was focused on the indoor parts but he saw the real problem out of the corner of his eye. Using a shovel he uncovered the underground pipes that were leaking out. The sewer line had roots growing in it and needed to be snaked. He even suggested a solution for detecting the problem if the roots ever grew back. The guy was good and not afraid to get down and start digging to visualize the exact pipe that was spewing sewer contents. It took two visits because they needed to get some parts to complete the job.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago. The city contractor came by to repave our road but they accidently ripped out one of our pipes and we had a major leak out of doors and had to shut off water to the whole house. A-1 Budget Plumbing came out early in the am because we had no water at all. I was terrified that this would turn into a major job because it was one of the pipes that I didn't know what part of the house it supplied water to. The leaking part was underground and not east to fix or even access without breaking concrete. Anyway, the guy figured out how to supply part of the house and isolate the leaking pipe within about 5 minutes and 15 minutes later we had water in 90% of the house. He then formulated a plan to bypass the leaking line. They did have to return the next day and spend about 4 hours bypassing the leak but they fixed it in the most efficient way and we are all good now. It had to be done. You need water and just can't avoid some repairs.

These guys are good. I have worked with about 6 of their plumbers so far and they are all excellent even when confronted with dirty and challenging jobs. They provide service 24/7 in case of emergencies. They accept credit cards and do the invoice and billing from an iPad like device right on the truck.

I was able to save a little bit by digging to make my pipes more visible. I spent about 3 hours digging. They would have done it but of course they would have charged for it.

Bottom line is they are a 5-Star operation because of their great crew of plumbers. I never for a minute felt that I was being overcharged. I recommend them highly!

My wife & I gave A-1 Budget Plumbing around $30,000 in business over the past two decades for our home & our rental properties, & the company does good work. I suggest being very specific about what you want the plumber to accomplish when you call to make an appointment, rather than when he arrives. This maximizes the chance that he will have the right parts, rather than having to go back to the shop, or have to call for another truck to meet him. Most of their plumbers are great at working around unexpected problems, but it's best if you don't surprise them.

Horrible customer service! do not use these guys!!!

I don't usually write reviews and when I do it is only when I've been pushed to my limit. I had a leaky pipe once so I called them to come out, when they did they gave me a quote of $8,000!! Said that they prob. needed to open up my wall in order to address the problem. Not to mention, that's just for opening up the wall, they don't do any repairs on it after. I decided I would get another opinion so I said no, thank you. and they left. Soon after another plumber from another company came to fix the pipe, took 15 min, without opening any walls, and total charge of $150. Then A-1 had the decency to send me a bill anyway of $90 for coming out and giving me that BS quote. I refused to pay. I called them to dispute the charge. They looked up my address and said oh we refuse to come out and service you. They had black listed my address! when asked why, they said it was because i refused to pay the $90 invoice. and when i explained what had happened, they didn't want to listen, and told me never to call again! Incredible. it's not acceptable for any company to have that kind of attitude or customer service. And to be frank, if they choose to then at least be able to back it up with the quality of their work. Clearly, they lack quality plumbers and customer service.

My mom had an issue with her Condo sink and tub drain. I believe Plumber's name was Stephen. He was great. He cleared the sink drain that was actually into the wall quickly. The tub was really old and had an issue with an old rusted part that wasn't able to remove due to possibly breaking and becoming a bigger problem. He advised on how to deal with that problem. Great customer service. Hard to find this type of service nowadays. A-1 provided great customer service from the initial scheduling up until the end of the job. I would recommend them.

One hour response time is bull. I made the first appointment of the day at 8:00 AM the next day. The dispatcher says that they will be there at 8:00 sharp. At 8:15 still nobody shows up and no call from them. When I called to see what happened they said they were on another job. No firm time of arrival but they would call. Clearly their time is more important than yours. They do not care if you wait. They do not honor their word. No integrity.

On Monday when I got home from work, I discovered my vanity sinks had overflowed water and soot out onto my floors. I live on the fourth floor of an apartment building and a main pipe had clogged affecting the unit above mine and my unit. Water and black soot was all over. My resident manager advised me to call A-1, and wow, what a great help they were! I received wonderful and courteous customer service when I called, and within an hour, they sent plumber Steven Albert to assist me. Steven was awesome! He not only fixed the clog, but he helped me clean up the mess. He made sure the units below mine were fine as well. He was so courteous and professional and an expert at his job. A-1 Plumbing helped make what could have been a disaster not so bad at all. I highly recommend them!

Awesome service. Awesome pricing. They were able to change out my tank just a few days after calling them. After removing the old tank, they noticed mold and a large hole in our baseboard caused by water damage. They went above and beyond to help remove part of the baseboard and clean the area. A-1 Budget Plumbing came last week Wednesday and I couldn't be more happy with their service. The guy that came was Paul. He was great. He worked quickly saving me money and with attention to detail. He made sure the work was done correctly. He came to repair my leaky shower valve. He replaced the cartridge. One of their bigger competitors came 5 years to do the exact same job on a different shower but replaced only one small part in the cartridge and charged me over $300 for a 20 minute job. Paul replace the entire cartridge and only charged me $70 less than the competitor. He even gave me all kinds of tips to prevent future plumbing jobs potentially saving me more money. Couldn't be more pleased!

We just got our sink unclogged by Duke from A1 plumbing. I totally recomend them for any plumbing problems you may have. We were told that they would be here anywhere from 9-12 and he was here at 9am sharp. He got down and dirty and unclogged and cleaned our trap for us. Now our sink drains twice as fast as it use to before . The price is reasonable also. So call A1 & request Duke : ) \m/

Awesome speedy work!!! Got our sink unclogged without hassle or extra findings. I forgot the name of the guy who did the job but he was prompt and friendly. The lady that picked up the phone was also very nice and honest. Unlike the other big company here in HI who pushed to get all our info then at the end of the phone call brings up oh BTW, we charge $60 dispatch fee.

Anyway, great pricing for A1 with a lot of aloha.

I experienced fantastic service from A-1 Budget Plumbing! Bill was my plumbing professional that investigated a possible leak from my apartment to the unit below me in my condo.
Bill was AWESOME, Super professional , and super nice. He did a great job invesitating for possible leakage. Pua and Leiling were also awesome at scheduling my appointment and following through with me; those two were so understanding and super nice.

The best! I needed a drain unclogged. A-1 did an excellent and professional job for a good price. They were the third company I tried. The first company started at a ridiculous price more than 10 times what I ended up paying A-1 (seriously), the second wanted more than double A-1's price. Don't waste your time, call A-1 first. I appreciate people that do really good work for a fair price.

BUYER BEWARE!!
I recently had a 10 year old sump pump that served its purpose - no problem; and it died. I paid $99 for a 5 minute visit to assess the situation. I paid $1700 to replace my original equipment with the same functionality. In a span of one month, my new sump pump required a service call! During this service call, the plumber advises me it is fixed, but I need to periodically clean out the sump pump! Really!? My living conditions have not changed!! I reached out to A-1 Plumbing to share my concern this is not what I intended to purchase. I want a sump pump that does its job! I was told they installed the SAME equipment. If it's the SAME, I should be calling back in 10 YEARS NOT 1 MONTH!!! Still getting the runaround and hope to hear back from the owner.....

I am a property manager and use multiple plumbing companies to service units I manage. This company tried to say that an entire shower/cast iron tub needed to be redone when all that was wrong was a missing shower diverter handle and a P-trap under the tub that needed to be changed. They also tried to change the lavatory faucet in the same bathroom that was working perfectly fine. For another unit, they tried to change a toilet valve that upon speaking with a tenant was working fine. In addition, they tried to solicit credit card payment without an invoice when the job hasn't even been started. When asked to send an invoice before payment, they said that they don't do that...

Very pleased with A-1! I called on Sunday to have A-1 come by on Monday. They gave me an estimated window of 10am - 1pm. At 9:28am, the dispatcher called and said they were headed my way from Salt Lake and asked if I was ready for them. The plumber arrived at 9:55am. I was expecting him to be there for over an hour to clog the kitchen sink drain and repair a leaking pipe. He was done in less than 30 minutes. When I inquired about the leaking pipe, he said it just needed to be tightened. His estimate was correct to the penny. Would definitely recommend!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I live in a house split into two so the main water is shared. At 11:45pm I heard a banging on my front screen door, open the window to see its a plumber. Open the door where he tells me he's going to shut off my water and I ask why. He replies he just needs to shut it off to work on the front. Its late at night and I need my water and I live in a house with the shared water so I know I am able to at least be informed to why my water is getting shut off. But 'Keoni' the worker for A1 gives me unprofessional attitude saying I'm not asking you to turn off the water, I'm telling you. This is not his household nor is it at all respectful to be giving me this attitude towards what I'm entitled to know as an occupant here. I tell him he is being very unprofessional and I don't deserve any of this attitude and his actions directly reflect the company he works for. Keoni repeatedly directs my statements back at me with one sentence replies accusing me of the one with an attitude. He says he's done and tells me to explain to the front tenants why he won't fix the problems and storms off. All in all no respect, very unprofessional, and unpleasant experience.

On 9/1/2023, replaced rusting Pressure Regulator Valve and added a new main cutoff valve in a more accessible location on property. A-1 Budget was excellent in communicating that day when the technician would arrive. Jasper (plumber) communicated clearly on what my options were. He was efficient in installing the new parts and after installing the cutoff valve he did not waste any time and had me contact BWS right away to turn the water back on while he worked on other parts. Job looks good and no leaks. He gave advice on how to maintain the new parts and to adjust water pressure if needed. The price for the cutoff valve seemed rather inflated compared to what you can get from Home Depot but the time he took seemed very reasonable and I did not feel that he overcharged on labor. I would recommend this business.

I called several plumbers on a Sunday when everything started to backup. Because it was a Sunday they wanted to charge me an unbelievable charge just to drive to my house. Then the hourly was outrage. NOT A-1. They came. Flat rate. Plumber was nice and friendly and very efficient!! He fixed all the problems and was on his way!! I then told my sister about what happened and she called A -1 and gave them biz too!! Took precautions so what I experienced wouldn't happen to her. All those other companies lost a lot of money. I'll keep referring A-1.

We've used this company for years. Not for any reason other than they were easy to get in touch with. Workers seemed very nice but all most talked about getting out and starting their own businesses. Despite asking when we booked jobs, we were never able to have the same plumber come back to our house a second time. That's a huge minus. Booked them recently for a commercial job. Dennis was very nice, showed up on time, did the job. However when I noticed the invoice was incorrectly connected to my mother and her home address, not the job that had been hired for, I sent an email asking for corrected receipt. No response. Called and explained to lady on the phone. She was immediately frustrated with me, tried to tell me I had booked the job under my mother's name (nope), did not seem to understand issue, did not seem to care, said she would talk to the person who booked the job, etc. I kept asking for the simple outcome: a corrected receipt with my name (name on credit card that paid for job), and my company (not my mother's name). I even apologized to her and told her I needed the correct doc for my job, so I wouldn't get in trouble, as this was a commercial job. She did nothing with that human attempt at connection. She remained pissed. I get that working a customer service job can suck, but this could have gone so well, I was asking for something easy and important, and instead I realized: A1 Budget is a big company, there is no customer support or concern, and I will go with a smaller, locally owned plumber from now on. It there's one thing I cannot handle is arguing about something stupid with someone who's job it is to hear a customer and solve their problem. Too bad, A-1 - we are buying this building with plans for renovation and will need work and a plumber on call. - No longer an A-1 Customer.
P.S. I am the person who leaves 90% happy reviews on Yelp. I really think we need to call out goodness whenever we see it. So here's something positive with which to end: Dennis, in spite of probably hating his job at a big plumbing contractor, was helpful and good.

Do Not Use this company! They charged a lot ($$$$!), did not do professional work or fix the problem, made it even worse, and then said they can't do anything to fix it unless I pay more. In addition to this they caused unnecessary damage to my home and left a huge mess, including their garbage! I don't even think the guy they sent out was an actual plumber. He didn't seem to know even basic things about plumbing.

Reasonable hourly rate, but not by that much and plumber worked slow. To explain, work was completed at my condo by A1, but the older very local gentleman took several tries to complete one job (not labor intensive at all) for a supply line. Wasted a lot of time futting around trying to complete the job one way until he finally decided to complete the job the proper way. Ended up taking twice as long and was charged twice as much than if the guy took the proper steps and did not try to cut a corner in the first place! Honestly, I felt like he was stalling just to add time to the labor cost so not a good feeling especially when he's supposed to be a professional plumber and know his trade. ALSO, there was a very local office lady that did not seem to care either when I reported this issue to her. Would not personally recommend A-1 Budget Plumbing anymore in 2019. Just because they are reasonable prices, does not give them the right to take twice as long. ***big sigh***

Stephen was incredibly knowledgeable, showed up early ( let's be honest, what technician or repair guy ever shows up earlier than their appointed time) also the fact that they gave me a set time not an approximate somewhere inbetween 1pm till next Thursday. I'm thrilled to have found a reliable plumber and plumbing company! What a relief. After wasting a few hundred dollars on another plumbing company who could not fix the low water pressure in my kitchen sink, Paul from A-1 Plumbing came and saved the day. Paul was professional, friendly, and knowledgable. Making the appointment was easy and Paul was punctual. He spent 1.25 hours troubleshooting and fixing the water pressure in my sink. I'm glad it won't take as long to wash dishes since I have regular water pressure now. He also fixed my shower to the correct water temperature setting. I will continue to use A-1 Plumbing for any future plumbing needs. Mahalo Paul and A-1 Plumbing!

If you look through the photos people posted on the A1 Yelp age, you see the photo of the guy in front of the green A1 van - thats Andrew. Believe me - Ask for Andrew.

Andrew came to my house a couple weeks back to install a few shower heads and fix a leaking toilet. He was efficient, professional, polite, and just did a great job. And he's a Kailua-Boy!

Today, as I type this, Andrew is now downstairs installing a new water line for my refrigerator. While doing so, he noticed that my kitchen sink was leaking and suggested he could fix it, on the spot.

Other Yelp'ers are correct - A1 is not super cheap - but its been my experience so far that the work is done correctly, so I have a good feeling of trust that my money is well-spent.

I actually can't give them any star. NO star. I called them and asked for estimate to do a big job which was re-piping hot water around the house since we had a leak under the slab. The lady who answered the phone told me that they don't do estimate!!! I told her that I cant have anybody work on my house without what kind of money we will be charged. She just said they don't know the charge because all the houses are different sizes and all the issues are different. LOL Isn't that something they all find out when they come to my house to estimate??? The lady insisted that once they come, they would do the job. Then I asked her if that's something she would do when she has a problem at her home. Then she started being upset and getting really rude on the phone. Don't waste your time even to call them.

The best. It was raining and late when they were supposed to show up so I called and rescheduled for 11 a.m. the next day, Saturday. Matt showed up and checked the situation. The sewer drain along one side of the house was clogged but access was extremely difficult. So Matt found a way to run the snake through the plumbing vent on the roof.
Saved tons of time (and money). Then he went inside and ran a smaller snake through the tub overflow drain.
Worked perfectly.
He cleaned up and disinfected the drain areas where he worked inside.
Highly recommend these guys, especially Matt.

Don't call anyone else!
We bought a brand new dishwasher to install that had an issue of connecting to an older plumbing system in the house. I was quoted by one company, almost $300 more than we paid for the dishwasher, and another company told us they wouldn't be able to do it without a lot of extra, expensive steps.

Josh showed up on time, worked quick, and got the job done in about an hours time and it was VERY affordable. I cannot recommend them enough!

I am very pleased with the work done by A-1 Budget Plumbing on 7/20/18. I had shut off valves replaced in my condo unit: hot and cold water valves for the bathroom sink; toilet shut off valve; and the washer valves for both hot and cold water. Also, I had my bathroom sink faucet replaced. Keahi from A-1 showed up 15 minutes early and proceeded to get the job done expeditiously. And, whoa! The charges were reasonable. Another company gave me a quote 50% higher. Mahalo A-1.
