Review of #ThePinkPlumber of Atlanta:
Christmas Eve (Thursday Dec. 24, 2015), due to the massive rains, yard became saturated which led to septic tank filling up. I call 4 different LOCAL septic services here in the Rockdale/Covington area and all 4 tell me it will be at least the following Monday before they can get out to pump the tank, everyone in the area is having the same problems and theyre booked, no problem, i kind of figured as much. Not wanting to wait that long, i remember hearing #ThePinkPlumber advertising on the radio and TV, so i decide to give them a call, ON CHRISTMAS DAY. Wow! They answered the phone!. I tell them what i need, they tell me no problem we can be out tomorrow (Dec 26) between 12-4pm. I'm like COOL!!!! Thats faster than any of the other companies i called! 3 o clock the next day, they call, tell me theyre running way behind due to the massive amount of people with septic issues. OK, im not happy, but i understand, so they promise to come out the next day (Sun. Dec.27) between 10 and 2. Sunday at 1pm, i call to make sure everything is still on schedule for them to come out and I'm told yes. Well, at 3pm, I still hadnt heard from them and they still hadnt arrived so i call to find out what was going on. Im told AGAIN, there is going to be another day delay, it will be MONDAY (Dec. 27) before they can make it out, again, between 10 and 2. Needless to say, they got an earful from me, but it is what it is, again, they apologize, but promise me to be here.
Well, today, Monday, approx 230, they call and tell me theyre on the way. Well NOW i have to leave work, come back home and meet them (ANOTHER inconvenience thanks to The Pink Plumber). Tractor comes off the truck, digs the 18 inches deep, pulls the lid off the tank, sticks a shovel in, and claims he feels at least 3 feet of sludge. Well, if you read the mice type on their website, there are several things that can make the cost of the pumping of the tank increase from the $195 that they typically charge for what THEY call a normal maintenance pump out. Amount of sludge being one of them. The guy whips out his calulator and tells me in order to pump it out, the cost just went up to right at $500. OK, I get it. That is spelled out on their website for the service, i realize if i want them to do this, thats what the fee is going to be. BUT, i feel like i should get some sort of discount for being inconvenienced for almost 3 days. After all, you would think a business that claims to have been doing this for 30 years would be able to know how to schedule and have the foresight to know that with the massive amount of people having this issue, to promise me next days service (especially when ALL FOUR other contractors i called had that foresight to tell me UP FRONT it would be at least 3 days before they could get here), was extremely incompetent on their part. I would have never given them the go ahead to come do the job had they told me 2-3 days to get here, i would have given my business to one of the local contractors here in Conyers.
So, before i let them proceed, i call the company office, get with Frank, their Septic Manager. I explained to him why i was calling and told him the same thing i said above about someone in his office dropping the ball on scheduling. At this point, FRANK became disrespectful and when i asked for a discount from the $500, he told me no, he wouldnt do it. At that point, i told him if he wasnt willing to discount that rate, i wouldnt be paying anything and his guys could put the lid back on, cover it back up and leave, which he said fine, end of conversation.
So, in summary, if you ever need any plumbing services performed, i would NOT recommend #ThePinkPlumber. Not only do they have way to many gotchas written into their so called low price quotes which is, im sure, how they manage to get customers to pay more than they were originally informed, but they obviously dont have enough business sense to be able to understand scheduling under extreme conditions and obviously make promises they cant keep only to arrive 2-3 days later than promised and expect you to pay more than double what was originally figured. Had Frank at least been willing to work with me on a discounted amount that was worthy of a 3 day inconvenience, then they would have gotten the job. Needless to say, i'll never use their services, and i'll be sure to let everyone i know about my crappy experience with them.
I have friends in this business out here in Rockdale county i would have gladly paid to come do this (and will now), and the ONLY reason i went with a different company was the fact i was PROMISED the Pink Plumber would be able to get here the next day.
