While Marty The Plumber seems to be reasonably priced and willing to do the job, integrity is not part of the company's policy. Last year, Donald, his employee, accidentally started a fire and destroyed my property (confirmed by the fire marshal and both of our insurance investigators). While he's insured, he's only insured for cash value. That means that the depreciation and code upgrades came out of my pocket - which amounted to around $10,000! When I discussed this with Marty the Plumber, I was told that they were not willing to pay any portion of the $10,000. I even offered to let them do the plumbing work when I started to rebuild. They turned me down. In my book, when a tragedy occurs to your home, the person at fault should make it habitable. I certainly didn't do anything to cause the fire so that $10,000 should not have come out of my pocket - but it did!
Maybe you think I'm nuts for offering them the plumbing work after what they did, but I believe that people make mistakes and learn from them and therefore are far more careful going forward... In this case, the lack of integrity clearly makes them not a company that one should do business with.
