Stern Brothers Plumbing Supply

I went to this store to buy a part for my shower faucet. These people quoted me $100 for such part. At the Home Depot the same part's price was $40.98. Don't ever walk into this store. They take advantage of people who don't know better.

Went looking for the parts for our Kohler shower.  The clerk handed me two small envelopes with no name in them and told me the cost was $107.  I thought considering out plumber had mentioned they should cost around $15 each I questioned the price, was told anything Kohler is expensive.  Since I didnt have my credit card with me and they dont they checks I left thinking of coming back later, A neighbor mentioned I should try Ferguson, so I did, and Surprise, I got the same parts, in their original Kohler wrapping and paid $13.40 for each, never will be back to Stern, I am a Ferguson client now.

They had exactly what I needed and I just showed them the piece and they knew what it was without explanation. These are professionals and I strongly recommend them

Some of the most rude staff you could find in a selling establishment, skinny guy with long beard receives you with a burp and before you can even finish what you need he says they don't have it. Beware owner this guy is chasing clientele away.

Arrogant employees. Treat everyone like shit. Fuck them.

Where to start with this circus. I sent one of my worker to this place for a good amount of supplies and they gave him nothing but attitude. He is nice guy but nothing to play with, but they did not recognize this and treated him with much disrespect. Lack of social experience on their part. When he return to our jobsite I sent another worker to avoid problems and this time they made several mistakes. Now I went myself and man, this place is a circus of clowns. They obviously do not enjoy to actually work for a living and could not last one day with us on even the smallest job. They were so disrespectful and disgusting temperament. What i think was the owner has small mental capacity with zero communication skills. The others were either on drugs or need some. You have to laugh to yourself at people like these and not get upset. Just be happy that they are not in the way at a jobsite and only selling supplies. I compare this business to a small truck trying to drive through the mud. They will just spin their tires until they fall off. Sad people in this store. I wish they find anger classes before they talk to the wrong man. None of them in there could defend their behavior for certain. Get anger help guys

I called Stern Brothers to find out if they had a part in stock and was about to dictate the part number when I was very dismissively interrupted. The person started into saying that there will be an 80% chance that the number I'll give is incorrect. So I attempted to explain that I live in an apartment building where every unit has the same fixtures. He obviously wasn't listening and continued to insist I'd have it wrong. When my husband called again to give it a try, the person was again curt and rude to him. Competence is no excuse for a lack of manners.

The owner and his sidekick pictured in this review need to learn some manners and communication skills.  I went to this store to get some specific parts that my plumber said I could find at this store.  They gave me the wrong parts which facilitated me having to go back to exchange.
When i went back, the man in the pic argued with me that it was my fault and if I wanted to my Fu$!ing parts, I needed to shut the f!*% up.  In all the years I have gone to supply houses, I never encountered such filthy mouth people behind the counter.  Clearly the Owner ( Michael) and the obnoxious pig with him are very unhappy men that have no joy or happiness in their lives.  I will never go back to this store.  Interestingly enough, my Dad knew Leonard Stern many years ago, the original owner and he was a respectable and professional person.  The son is an animal.  There have been similar other experiences like mine in past reviews. One would think that after a few negative reviews they would get their act together, but I guess you cant give what you don't have.

Living in Miami where bad customer service is the norm, it takes a lot for me to leave a Yelp review but Stern Brothers is a business that evidently takes pride in their horrible customer service. I walked in yesterday looking for a part to fix hot water issues I was having in my condo. I had a photo of the object on my phone which I took earlier in the day but I did not know the name of the object. I went in there because my building manager told me that was the piece I needed and Stern Brothers was the place that sells it.

When I explained the situation to the guy behind the counter he said he had no idea what that object was and then proceeded to tell me my building manger was an idiot who did not know what he was talking about. He then went on about what I needed to do but I did not understand him so I asked him to repeat it and I still did not get it because he was pretty much rambling about everything except the issue I was having. When I asked him to clarify, he then became insulting and said I was an idiot for not understanding. I walked out of the place and said f*ck it because it was obvious this guy was not going to help me. He then said f*ck you and when I asked him why he had such an attitude, he claimed because I said f*ck you first. I didn't but whatever. The guy was a moron.I then went to Coral Gables Plumbing by the Falls and they immediately identified the part as a pressure reducing valve. And they had no issue repeating themselves to ensure I understood what exactly was it I needed to do.

I then went on Yelp and read all the prior bad reviews on Stern Brothers and it is obvious they do not care about customer service. On the contrary. It seems they purposely act like assholes because they believe they're the only plumbing store in Miami. They're like the stereotype of the dishonest mechanic who bullies and intimidates customers. Just read the prior complaints from women.

It's a shame because this is a business that has been in existence for decades in Miami, founded by a man named Leonard Stern who always maintained good customer service. I remember going in there with my dad as a kid in the 70s.

But now it's in the hands of Michael Stern who apparently is Leonard's grandson. He himself is a big part of the bad customer service, according to previous reviews.

It really takes a lot for a plumbing store to receive such bad reviews but these guys were able to do it. I can only imagine how many other people had bad customer service and just didn't post about it. There is actually two Yelp pages for this business and they both are filled with horrible reviews. I've posted this on both pages to save people the trip to Stern Brothers because they are a joke. Pathetic.

These guys are just horrible people and should be avoided at all costs. It's worth the trip to Coral Gables Plumbing by the Falls to save yourself from being verbally assaulted by a douchebag behind the counter who was incapable of identifying a simple plumbing part but would not admit it.

The bolt that holds the handle in for my toilet broke. I went in and asked if they had a replacement. They told me it was reverse threaded and had to bet special ordered and would cost $150. It was a Mexican Toilet. the handle wasn't Mexican. I knew the handle was most likely made in China. and you could most likely buy a whole new handle setup for less than $20. But I got to the hardware store where they sold me the bolt for $.99.  These are awful people and thieves.
The clerk's name was Howard. When I called he wouldn't come to the phone.

This place is absolutely amazing, very professional and very friendly. They have a knowledgeable staff that can answer questions and give me options on every plumbing need I have had to date. Even in a phone call they asked me to send them a picture of what I was talking about and when I called them back they were able to access it and tell me exactly what I needed. Absolutely amazing. Thank you Jose and Thank you Stern brothers for making this a better world.

I broke my hand held shower and went in to replace a part which was stuck and unusable. They were very nice. They informed me they didn't have the part but asked if they could open it. They opened it for me, gave me some tape, told me how to fix it, and didn't charge me for anything. This is despite me asking if it didn't work if they had shower heads I could buy. They helped me solve my problem instead of pushing a sale. Next time I need to buy a new plumbing part, I will be stopping by there.

Great service. I took in an old faucet that service America said was of poor quality and to get a new one that they would install for $150. Len had the part to fix the existing one and informed us that it was a top of the line faucet. Saved about $500.

I've been to Stern Brother's twice. My first time was much better than my second. From my experience it's all about who helps you. On my first visit, they were helpful, listened to what my issue was and were adept at sorting out my issue. On my second visit, the employee was very short, kinda rude and basically made me feel like I was bothering him. Another customer walked in and hardly made it through the door before he was cut short and sent back out the door. They seem knowledgeable overall but seem a bit pompous. I don't really want to shop anywhere where I feel like I'm putting someone out. You don't want my business? No problem, I'll take it elsewhere.

Their door and their site says that they close at 4:30pm. I show up at 4:15 in need of a small part for my faucet and the door is locked. I knock and someone yells closed. Then, I ask why if the door states 4:30pm. His response was, the door is lying with a chuckle. This is very unprofessional and the opposite of what I expect from a reputable business, which this place is obviously not. They can count on me never returning and telling my friends and family about it (and yelp).

Horrible experience!! We were highly referred by a friend plumber who is an exiting customer.
We arrived, before even welcoming us or to ask what we needed, this nasty employee, behind the counter told my husband to move our car according to him parked in wrong space. My husband apologized for honest mistake, he thought it was habdicapped space. When my husband went to move the car, I told the guy we have disabled permit. He snapped back saying he didn't like our attitude! that we were nasty. I  told him I just had surgery, that is not the way to talk to customers. He was the one out of line.  The guy kept talking back really nasty.
I stopped because I didn't want my husband to come back and get involved with this guy.
Another guy asked to help, anyway, not even showing him the part we needed, they were able to help.
That guy is negative to be dealing with clients, he doesn't know the meaning of customer service.
Stinky attitude... stay away from this store.

These guys are the best. Back when they were in Coral Way and now in westchester.  These people know there stuff. In and out. Don't come here asking for sugar and sprinkles, along with hugs and kisses. You ain't getting that crap. Your getting honest knowledgeable service at a great price. Weather it's a valve stem from an antique faucet or a new plumbing fixture, they got it.

I've had nothing but good experiences every time I come to the store. The staff is patient and helpful and not only provides me the parts I'm looking for but instructs me on how to install them correctly.

Negative star. Horrible customer service and the staff is very condescending. Not certain how a company could remain in business this long. They remind me of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi character. In addition, the dude that took care of me was not even that Knowledgeable - Treated me like I was an alien wasting his time and made it sound like part was impossible to find. So I left , went to ACE hardware and replaced 6 O rings and the problem was resolved and it cost me $2 dollars and 40 cents. Stern Brothers is an old school place that treat customers like crap and should not be in business. No soup for you !!! .. Next!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How this business is still around is beyond astonishing. They offer the complete opposite of customer service. The staff including an extremely rude and unwelcoming heavy set man who seems to be a manger of some sort will treat you like an imbecile. From the moment you step up to the counter you can immediately sense the rude and unwelcoming vibe coming from everyone there. We asked a few questions to which the responses were pretty much one word responses in a very nasty condescending tone. Truly save your money and go elsewhere this place doesn't appreciate their potential customers in the very least bit.
