Just had Metro-Rooter come by and inspect my septic system since I found water (real smelly) running out of my drainfield. This is not good. Kyle came out and dug up parts of my septic and indicated I have problems. Bad drainfield.
We discussed options - most of them expensive. Kyle suggested some possibilities to explore and was quite helpful.
You should see the number of positive reviews on Google for these guys.
I was not disappointed.
We shall see where I go from here. Maybe I'll have to pee in the bushes!

I am a repeat commercial customer with multiple locations.  Called last Monday for drain jetting.  To avoid an emergency call, I had to wait until Wednesday.  Wednesday no one came so I called and rescheduled for Friday.  They were here for a very short time.  Said our problem was at the grease trap outside.  They said they cleared that very well.  Drains started backing up again Sunday.  Called this morning.  Was told they have a ticket system, and after she submitted, they had 24 to 48 hours to respond.  I said I needed the drains addressed today.  I was told it would be an emergency charge to come out today or tomorrow and the first hour would be over $400.  I could request a refund or credit, but they could not guarantee.  No one to speak to.  They are on a ticket system and they will get back to me in 24 to 48 hours.  Awesome customer service.  NOT

My septic alarm started going off last Thursday. I called Metro Rooter because I have used them in the past. They came out on Saturday to do a pump out and find the problem. The sump pump that they installed 2 years ago had stopped. I have tried for over a week to get them to come back a fix the pump. I have been hung up on by customer service and stood up after telling me someone would be here. They didn't even do a complete pump out because they never pulled the filter and cleaned it. I'm shocked and how bad this company is. They did manage to bill me very quickly.

I wish I had read the reviews first.  This company is AWFUL.  I called them because my lift station alarm was going off and a neighbor said they USED to be good.  They sent out two service guys.  After almost an hour one of the gentlemen stated that he could not fix the problem but that he would disable the alarm and come back within 48 hours with a plumber and a camera.  Three weeks have now passed.  No one has returned to finish the repair.  My alarm is still disabled so if there is a real problem I will not know until sewage has overflowed into my yard.  Not one time have they called me to follow up.  I have called them at least six times and received multiple excuses and two separate appointments which no one bothered to actually show up for.  One customer service rep actually told me their company had a more important  job that came up so they sent all their staff to that client.  I was low priority.  For THREE WEEKS???   Find another company.

I have used Metro Rooter for nearly 20 years.  Each time I concede defeat and have to call a pro, I rifle through the phone book and more recently online to find the best and most economical.  I always end up recalling my last experience with Metro Rooter and calling them first (and last).
They always arrive sooner than expected, worked feverishly and fixed the problem properly....and always at the minimum price.
Metro Router continues to earn my trust and my respect.

Save yourself the headache and go with another company. A simple septic cleaning has now cost me more money because this racist company sent out unqualified and inappropriate employees to do the job. Horrible

While we were pleased with the septic pump out, we were told we needed a new tank and drain field to the tune of $11,500.  We got the town inspection done and that was the last we EVER heard from Metro despite several phone calls and emails.  I would never recommend this company.  Now we have to start all over again and find another contractor.

I seldom ever have plumbing problems at my home.  But, today was a real exception,  I have a septic with pump and float.  Had no idea where my septic was, as I was not told when I purchased the house 2 years ago.
I would give Juan 10 stars if they had 10.  He went above and beyond, located the septic tank in just minutes,  It was a very hot day and the sun boiling down.  He just kept working like a machine.  He was such a nice man, had an answer for every question I asked of him.  Thank you Juan and Metro Rooter for your prompt service and handling my urgent plumbing needs.

Metro Rooter technicians are amazing. Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Had an issue at the job and they came right away to help. The technician was very honest about the work that was needed to complete the job and did not try to offer anything extra or withhold any information in an effort to get more money out of us. They were able to get the job done and also offer us tips to prevent future issues. I highly recommend Metro Rooter for all of your plumbing needs!

Almost as if the right hand does not no what the led hand is doing. Called for a pump out, worked out fine. Called for a plumber worked out fine, had to call them back for the same thing went on a road trip. Had the same when we got home. Called for a plumber they said they do not send out plumbers. On hold for 25 minutes. Then I hung up. Found someone else to do the work.

We contacted metro rooter because it was the only place we could find that had a camera able to inspect the sewer line at a 1954 house we were trying to purchase on Amelia island . Donald came out within a day or two which was imperative for our short inspection period . He was courteous, knowledgeable and gave us an estimate for repairs should we decide to purchase. When we closed on the house he came back and got all our repairs done in a timely fashion . Would recommend him highly ! Thanks !

Terrible service!! Can't be trusted to complete the job they were paid to do!! Last year prior to buying a home, I had metro come out to inspect and empty the tank. This year I start having issues, and over $600 dollars later I find out they never emptied the solid tank. I call manager multiple times, and never receive a return call. I'm offered $50 off this last bill which was mostly labor, due to their poor job the first time!!! Extremely poor service!! Unacceptable!!

I need a pump out because my septic tank is overfull which means toilets won't flush, drains don't drain so I cant use my plumbing at all.  These people were supposed to be at my house on Monday morning, they kept stringing me along all day and finally said they would be there the next morning.  Next morning, they said they had an emergency with JEA and had to send ALL their people to help.  turns out it was a scheduled tie in with JEA.  Once again they kept stringing me along all day making me think someone was going to come.  Tuesday afternoon I called and spoke to a man who told me they would be there the NEXT DAY AGAIN!!!! I told him not to bother and have called A1 septic. I was down all weekend and now thanks to this unresponsive, inept company I have been down another 2 days.  thanks for nothing and may the fleas from 1,000 camels infest your crotches and your arms be too short to scratch.

We called at 6:30 this morning and were charged a premium for same day emergency service.  There is something wrong with our septic and we cannot use any toilets.  With 7 people in the house, that is rough.  I never heard anything so I called at 2:30 and was told that they overbooked and couldn't come until tomorrow.  I wish they could have at least had the courtesy to let me know earlier, so I could have tried somewhere else.  I will never call them again.

I hired Metro Rooter to come out and drain my septic tank. They did half the job I hired them to do. They wanted to settle for $150 to do half the job. I had tried to call the company 3 times and got a message from a secretary they would not come back and finish the job. Seems Management would not even call me back to explain they was not competent to do empty my septic tank. I will say this there is word does not mean much to me after telling they would do the job for $260 and could not finish the job. I would of expected management to have the balls to call me back and explain why they would not complete the job. SERIOUSLY would you trust them if they did this to you?

I contacted this company to give me an estimate based on the findings of American Leak. They didn't show up, and called an hour after the scheduled time to inform me they didn't need to come into the home for a slab leak. The problem was it wasn't a slab leak, but a very tricky leak between a portion of the home that was both on and off grade. The house is approaching 100 years old, and has been remodeled many times. The report from American Leak was e-mailed to them.

DON'T USE FOR EMERGENCY SERVICE!!!  We had metro-rooter come out to our house Thursday night for an emergency call. I was out of town for work and my wife had a plumbing emergency so we paid for the emergency call. They came out and snaked our main drain outside the our house. The plumber was there for only about 5-10 minutes,  he never came inside to inspect the drains.  Thought the problem was fixed and next night same issue.  Called metro-rooter again was told that tech would not be out till after midnight. Cancelled call till Saturday then was told no one could be out till Tuesday even though we paid for emergency call. Was told by lady who answered the phone that they don't come out in the dark to do service even though they came out the night before. She said sorry nothing they can do till Tuesday.  Very disappointed and would never recommend.

I used to love this company. They would come out to pump my septic tank and sometimes send a plumber with the tank guys to handle any other issues I had to save me an extra service charge. They were purchased by Wind River Environmental recently and must have some serious communication problems.
I have tried for 3 weeks to get my roof vents snaked and new screens installed as I am selling my home. The first time nobody showed in the morning as promised, I called them mid-day and was told they had a tough morning but would be out in the afternoon. I called them at noon the next day and cancelled as I had a realtor showing the house that afternoon and didn't want the plumbers to show up while that was occurring.
A week later I called to reschedule and they did so with an apology. That appointment day came and went and they didn't show. I called them back the next day (Friday) and found out that nobody at dispatch had put me on the schedule. They apologized and promised to come out on Monday. It is Wednesday and nobody has come by or called me to let me know if there was a problem.
Three strikes and they're out. I shouldn't have to call them and play Where's Waldo? with them. I have another plumber now.

Been doing business with Metro Rooter for 13 years thru 3 companies.  They used to be top notch & unmatched.  The past year has seen them dwindle off.  The Customer Service has gone away.  I feel that they think they are doing me a favor by servicing my commercial buildings.  I know them and have spoken with each of them over the years and have to say my last conversation with John the Service Manager has left me cold.   I have been waiting a week for a repair to a hot water heater.  Was told the parts were overnighted.  Saturday the plumber working on my water heater told me he could not repair it.    Now here I am going to work tomorrow morning in a medical office building a week later having to explain to Drs and medical staff that we still do not have hot water.  John I hope you learn to treat your customers with a little more respect.  Especially a customer of 13 years.

Called Metro Rooter to clear out my septic tank on a Saturday morning expecting to have an appointment days later. They sent a truck straight out and had everything pumped out by 10 am! The service specialist George was polite, friendly, and very professional. Price was right. All in all a very good experience considering.

We were very happy - Metro Rooter wanted the job, and they even showed up sooner than expected for our septic tank emergency.  We were told we needed the lines unclogged when the clean-out didn't solve the problem, and I immediately phoned Metro Rooter again.  They were
quick to find one of their plumbers who was nearby, having just completed another job, and he came right over.  The plumber got right to the root of the problem, literally - our line was filled with fibrous tree roots.  Problem solved.  Both the septic technician and the plumber were prompt, professional and courteous.  It's getting more and more difficult to find anyone who actually keeps the real office hours they advertise, answers their phone, says they'll be there, and then actually shows up when they promise to.  Metro Rooter did all those things.  Nobody wants to pump out a septic tank, (can't blame 'em, I don't either) and emergency is non-existent to most.  We only have one bathroom, and I am not into primitive camping.  Thanks so much for helping us out so quickly and professionally!  Metro Rooter, I think you're stuck with us for the long-haul.  Great job!

Called to asked for a Quote on a repipe job and he shows up late then, quotes me double what everyone else in town quoted, then drops an Inspection Fee on me for his time. I didn't need an inspection, I needed to know how much a repipe costs. Bunch of Crooks!!!

I am not at all pleased with the service I was told on Monday they would be out Monday afternoon or the latest Tuesday morning I called them Tuesday at 10am after not hearing from them back on Monday they said we were next . I then called around 2pm on Tuesday and we were next on the list still they arrived around 3pm and snaked the toilet and charged 99.00 very high for service I thought I would try them as they are locally owned and operated and I like to keep my money and business in Jacksonville maybe they are great for commercial where the money is but not residential . ill go with the bigger names next time. they were their a total of 10 minutes.  They also had testimonials on their website but no place for reviews not cool.

I called Metro rooter and asked to have my tank emptied. I asked if after he emptied the tank if he could tell me if the elbow that comes off the pipe to the leach field was there since I just had this tanked emptied a few months ago. Also if he could mark the pipe with a stick in the ground. They said he would and that he would call me before he got there. None of this happened. He did empty the tank and cracked my lid in half while doing it. I called and complained. They said there was nothing they could do about it. But they would sell me a new lid if needed. Worst customer service.

Well, I  have a new septic tank.  It got done earlier than originally quoted.  That's where the good ends.

Don't give these people your credit card for a partial payment unless you want them to charge the rest of it to that card without asking.

My sprinkler line was cut during the install and I was called immediately that evening to promise it would be repaired the next day.  11 days later and my lawn is dead because my sprinkler is still broken.  Email, multiple calls are all ignored.  Claims from who ever answers the phone that only ONE person in the office can help me.  She doesn't return phone calls.  Message for her supervisor expressing my frustration and asking for a call back was ignored.

Of course, my credit card was charged within 4 days of install.  You can bet that charge got disputed.. I'm not paying the final payment until the job is done!!

We just used Metro Rooter for a pipe repair at one of our rental homes. They charged us a ridiculous price of $750 to cut out a 2' section of 3/4 polybutylene pipe and used 3 shark bites to connect new to existing.  We'll never use this company again.

They have been the most reliable pumping service for as long as we've lived in our home. We called  other companies but Metro-Rooter was the only one to answer the phone. Krystal was so sweet and told us if we didn't anyone to come out, to call them back. After no one answered or called us, we called Metro-Rooter back and Krystal made sure we were on the schedule. She tried to get us on their Sunday schedule but they were booked. They gave us a window of arrival on Monday and they came within that window. They are definitely a reliable company. I like so support smaller businesses but if they don't call you back, then they won't get my business. The gentleman who pumped our septic tank was so nice and professional.

I've used Metro Rooter twice for my septic... no wait, three times.  First was a septic inspection when we purchased the home, then a few years later to fix a malfunctioning item in the tank, then again a few years ago to make sure all was well (it was, they just needed to cut out some tree roots).  I think most people forget about their septic system until it doesn't work, but we really try to be proactive around our home, so we've never had a big problem and Metro Rooter has always served us well.  They responded promptly when we called, told us exactly what they were doing, and have always been professional.  Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Metro Rooter!

My sewer started gurgling so I called them early in the morning. The courteous operator set my appointment for the next morning because I wasn't available that day. They actually showed up on time as promised. Had my septic pumped and the lid and grass in place in about an hour. Very professional driver. They have earned my business from now on.

Called metro rooter to have septic pumped out and everyone I dealt with was friendly and understanding even though I rescheduled at the last minute. Keith was great!  I had no clue where the septic was located. Keith found it pretty quickly but the lid was grown over with huge oak tree roots. Took him over an hour of digging and cutting roots just to access the lid. Hard work on a hot Florida day and he had a great attitude throughout.

I gave 2 stars simply because I am not sure if what work was done was all actually necessary. I did need a new septic pump which was installed. And I did see the tank needed to be pumped, which was done. However, I was told the line was stopped up and that was an extra $119. that is what I do not think was necessary. The tank was full, the line could not drain. The company sends out the necessary techs 1 at a time, one to change the pump, one to snake the line, and last was the one to pump the tank. I am pretty positive if they had sent the correct order, replace the pump, then pump out the tank I do not believe the snaking the line would have been necessary. The line has never been stopped up. The pump had quit working and the line was backed up. So, was the $119. service necessary? BEWARE OF THAT PART.
Lastly, between the 3 workers, none completely filled back in the holes dug to get to the tanks, one of the tech threw a couple of big stepping stones in the hole, rather than fill it back in.  The nozzle was taken off the garden hose and left in the yard, not put back on the hose. My back gate was left wide open. If my dog had gotten out before I went out there I could have gotten into trouble with the neighbors, and of course, there is always the possibility my dog could have gotten hurt. I do understand we what it is like to work for a living, and the need and the desire to get home, or to the next job, however how much longer would it have taken to get it right.
One last thing for real, to have to pay each person separately for the individual job is not a good idea, either. Lets hope the new pump last a while, because I do not think I can afford this type of service again any time soon. If I do, I doubt I will be calling metro-rooter for help.

a buyer used them and they found a problem we didnt know about- thats the only thing they did right. All other info the owner gave me was BS. This company displayed inept and incompetent customer service. The inspection work they did was later found to be incorrect. I would not hire this company to plunge my toilet-save your money and dont listen to the owners expert advice' if they cant be professional with customer service they wont do a good job at your house

Metro Rooter was suggested by our real estate agent as the cheapest way to inspect a septic system at a house we were considering purchasing.  Long story short, the experience was horrible.  On the day of inspection the inspector told our agent and the homeowner that there were only a couple small issues and that the system passed inspection.  The homeowner agreed to fix the issues and sale went into contract based on that verbal report.  Then, for two weeks or so our agent could not get in touch with anyone to get a copy of the report.  Then one day I get a call from our agent telling me she finally got the report, that it said the septic had to be completely replaced to tune of about 10k and the homeowner was getting ready to cancel the pending sale.  This amounted to alot of STRESS on our part.  As we couldn't trust this report, based on the huge disparity between verbal and written report, we were forced to hire another company for another report.  Low and behold this report came back in 24 hrs and confirmed that, besides the minor issues noted in Metro Rooters report, which had already been fixed the septic system was fine.

We have been living in this house for months now and no issues.  My firm belief is that either there was a complete breakdown in the inspection process or Metro was trying to drum up business by saying we needed new tank and field.  Either way, this situation caused much stress and cost me an additional 475.00 by hiring a separate company.

I would not under any circumstances hire this company for any business, especially inspection of septic fields.

I called Metro Rooter this past Monday and made an appointment for them to send me a Senior Plumber on Wednesday and he arrived promptly at 8 am as agreed. The Senior Plumber upon arrival was able to diagnose my plumbing problem right away and fixed it very quickly. I'm happy with the service I have received from Metro Rooter and the experts they have sent in the past to do the work. I would state the name of the Senior Plumber but I don't what him to get swamped with requests. Again many thanks to the Senior Plumber for his trouble shooting expertise and Metro Rooter for sending him.

I'm a fool . . . hee-hee!
April 21.
Our commode was not always refilling after being flushed. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't. It had something to do with the flotation device within the tank. As a member of our family was having a birthday on the 23rd, I was concerned because guests were coming over, and at least one was spending the night. We called three plumbing companies that we had used before, but none was available. We called Metro Rooter. They sent someone over within a couple of hours.
(Have you ever had misgivings when speaking to a repair man whom you've never met?)
I showed him the problem and mentioned that we also had a leaking faucet in our other toilet. His labor quote was over $200.00 (I forget the exact amount).  I also mentioned that the toilet that was not always flushing and needed to be plunged.  He added an additional $75.00 to the $200.00 + for snaking the commode.
After he had finished in the first bathroom, he told me that he could not repair the faucet in the second bathroom and that I needed to buy a new faucet. I said I would. He told me to let him know when I had purchased the faucet.
He left after approximately forty-five minutes of his arrival. He had not billed me at this point.
I went to Lowes and purchased an on-sale Pfister for approximately $120.00.
When I came back home, I used the toilet that he had repaired, and the lever became stuck, which caused the commode to continue to run. I manually dealt with it and made note to inform the repairman.
When the repairman came to install the faucet, I told him about the lever becoming stuck. He responded, You should have told me before.  I told him, truthfully, that it hadn't happened before. He said it needed replacement parts to the lever, which he had in his truck. He installed the new parts.
Then he installed the faucet. Total cost $393.25. Let me repeat that: $393.25. I paid while reprimanding myself for my foolishness.
This is not over:
Within five days of the service, I'm plunging the toilet. I get that . . . I'm a fool.
Within seven days of the service, it's discovered that the sink is leaking. It appears to be the drain of the newly installed faucet. We remove everything from under the sink and call Metro Rooter. We asked for a different repair man to be sent.  We are told -- led to believe -- that it will be repaired without charge.
The new repair man arrives, examines the sink and says that the faucet is probably faulty, and that Metro Rooter is not the source of the warranty. I needed to return the faucet to Lowes and exchange it for a new one, which would be installed for $135.00.
I said goodbye. (I still hoped Metro Rooter would reconsider, which is why this review may seem late.)
The sink still drips. The toilet still must be plunged. We are saving for a different plumbing company to perform the repairs.
I was a fool . . .

Really, I hate being Mr Negative, but the truth is that Jacksonville appears to have an above national average concentration of crappy businesses.  This is regardless of income or race and extends from your corner fast food joint to allegedly competent law firms.  Today's lucky recipient of vitriol is Metro-Rooter Plumbing Service.

Don't use them!

Why?

The story begins with an overflowing septic tank in a house that we are renting out.  We called several times on Friday.  Metro Rooter missed the appointment and didn't show up until Saturday.  Once they showed up, they didn't do the job, claiming that the tank was in a confined space, which was not true.  Then, before leaving, the driver told my tennant to sue me!  Wow, thanks for nothing!

Bad service, bad advice, late, unprofessional and unhelpful.  When you have an emergency, don't call Metro-Rooter!

I have used Metro-Rooter for over 5 years and have never had one bad experience with their staff! My most recent issue was the drain in my kitchen seemed to be clogged and was draining very slowly. With a dinner party we had planned for the very next night I was afraid an overflow would happen and create a disaster. I called Metro-Rooter the very next morning, and I explained my urgency and situation. Within 2 hours they were in my kitchen fixing the problem. I will never use another plumbing company! Honest, affordable, reliable!
