John Thurston Plumbing

OMG!  I am recovering at home from major surgery, and of course, my plumbing goes on the fritz - after 6:00 pm on a Monday night.  I looked up plumbers under Yelp, and called Mr. Thurston the first time at about 6:05 pm.  He was finishing another job and asked me to call him back in an hour (after listening to all my details); I called him back and he was still working, so he said he would call me back.  I thought, sure...but he did.  We talked about my problem again, and he said he was on the way.  I told him I thought I could wait until tomorrow since it was by now almost 8:30 pm., and could he just come tomorrow (also so I would not have to pay an after-hours fee).  He insisted on coming anyway as he was so booked, he could not fit me in during regular hours for two days, but promised that he would not charge me any extra for the after-hours call - he just wanted to help me out!  He came, found the problem within about 20 minutes (outside in the dark) and billed me minimally for a full fix.  He was not only professional, but very nice and went out of his way to give me good service at an extremely good rate.

Do not call anyone else for plumbing - he is the best! I wish there were more service personnel out there like Mr. Thurston!

Called him and got a fast phone response, and he came out the very next day, though our plumbing issue certainly wasn't an emergency of any kind. He was a nice fellow, and he fixed what we needed. Our only issue was that he charged much more than I expected for barely an hour's work, but we were tired of waiting on other plumbers to even give us a callback, show up, etc., so we told him to go ahead.

Living in this town for a year now, we find that so many companies we call for service, don't answer or don't show up quickly.  JOHN THURSTON PLUMBING IS AMAZING!!
We call. He comes. We had him here several times this past week and he jumps to help us out. Outstanding service. Very nice guy who does a good job and gives great service. Highly recommend him!

I called this company for a couple of small jobs at a rental property.  The appointment was lined up for the morning, and the tech was supposed to call the tenant 30 minutes before arrival so he would know when to expect him.  Instead, I (the property manager) received the call around 8 in the morning to say he would be at the property around 8:30 am.  He made a comment about the fact I never sent him the tenant's contact information, when I actually did the week before, by text, liked he asked.  In any case, 30 minutes came and went, and the tenant called me around 8:50 am to ask if the plumber was still coming.  I called the plumber to tell him the tenant had to leave soon for work, and asked when he might be there, to which he responded he would be there shortly, and had an attitude about it.  

At 9:15 am my tenant let me know he had to head to work, but told me the back door was unlocked and the upstairs tenant was aware the plumber was coming and would let him in.  Not even five minutes later I got a call from the angry plumber saying he was at the property and no one was home.  I started to tell him the door was unlocked and the upstairs tenant could let him in when he cut me off and told me to find someone else for the job.  He never stepped foot inside and had the audacity to have an attitude because HE showed up 45 minutes later than HE said he would.  He also accused me of never having given him the contact information he needed after I forwarded him the text I had sent the week before.

I told him I would gladly find someone else as he had been very rude and unprofessional.  I seriously have no idea how this company has the rating it does.  Buyer beware.

Reliable one-man band. I had a leak at my water meter, and he came within 14 hours, Monday morning, and fixed it promptly for the price promised. While $375 might be a bit expensive, it is plumbing! Good guy. I do recommend him.

Exchanged emails over several days.  He was going to call.
He would call tomorrow.
He would call today, if he hasn't called already.
He never called.
I really wanted to work with him based on word-of-mouth reviews.  But is was not to be.
I contacted another Yelp recommended plumber, they promptly got back to me and set up an appointment for the next day.  They called back and said they were located in Jacksonville (we're in St. Augustine) and they would not be coming.
The third Yelp recommendation wanted $77 to come and estimate, and it would not be deductible from the cost of the job.  I didn't bite.
Went on my own, call a guy, gave me an estimate on the phone and came two days later and did all four items on my project.

Should have realized when I called and he answered with hello not company name. Came out for three small problems all which were fixed with turning of a simple valve. $175.00!!!No parts were needed . He did  however come out the same day and stayed in contact.

Honest guy who does good work at a fair price! He installed a water softener for us and we couldn't be happier. He is a small business, does all the appointment scheduling himself, doesn't accept credit cards, so don't expect any of that.

Christmas Day 2016 and family from all around the country were about to converge on our home when we experience plumbing problems. Seriously? Luckily we had the option to celebrate at a nearby family member's home, which we did. The next day, within 10 minutes of Mark from John Thurston Plumbing arriving, he informed us that we had just moved into the worst case scenario bracket. With determination and humor Mark resolved the issue which probably originated when the new home construction company next door damaged our septic pipe near the street. I'd never use that construction company but I would definitely use John Thurston Plumbing again!

Had an emergency January 1 at 9 pm. Called Mr Thurston. He was there in less than 30 minutes. Fixed the leak in short time. Gave us suggestions to remove the water from the carpet. He is now our plumber. Never hugged a plumber before but now have.

I had him come out to look at a problem...he said oh he can fix it no problem. When the time came to do it he said it could not be done Not sure if he was trying to get more money or what. He obviously did not remember speaking with me the time before. :(

John is very good. He is direct and to the point, but do not take it as an insult. He does not negotiate his price and he is honest about that and you finding a cheaper plumber. Some think it rude, but I find it better then BS-ing me.

I called and came right out to our home. He was fast and let us know what we needed to do to fix our water pressure. He gave us the choice to do it ourselves or have him do it. Honest guy who is not going to try to sell you extra things.

Came home to find the hot water tank wasn't working and of course this happens on a Friday. Called John Thurston Plumbing and they were there in an hour. Diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Will definitely use this company again.

Good guy! Came quickly and handled new faucet and drain installation. I didn't have the right parts for dishwasher and he jury-rigged a hose line. Leaks but worth the try. He is worth considering. I recommend him. He will be coming back to change out a shower valve stem and install the right dishwasher discharge hose.

I received immediate and excellent service from John Thurston Plumbing.  I had an immediate need and reached out to John Thurston in the early morning.  John was honest in informing me that he was scheduled for today but offered me the option of contacting him later in the afternoon.  Before, I could reach back out to John; he contacted me and advised he could come to my home and investigate my issue within 10 minutes.  He arrived in 5 minutes, determined the issue and resolved the issue within 2 minutes.  He was extremely prompt, professional and had a great sense of humor to boot.  I would utilize his services again and recommend him for your home plumbing needs.

He responded to my call to have my elderly father's water fixed within an hour.  I never expected to have such a quick and responsible response.  Thank you John Thurston Plumbing!

I have found my plumber! We had an issue with the pipe from the house to the septic system on a SUNDAY of all times. I called several plumbers and John not only responded quickly but also charged a very reasonable price for a weekend! He got us back in business and took the time to educate us about the set-up of our system. I won't call anyone else for future plumbing needs.

Called john based on Yelp reviews and could not be more pleased.  Arrived same day as called, had all parts needed to fix water heater and had job done within an hour.  Heaven forbid I have any more plumbing problems, but if I do, I'll for sure be on the phone to John

Awesome service! I called about my hot water heater and he offered to assist by phone or come look at it. He was here in 30 minutes and showed me the problem and fixed it. I received a follow up call the next morning to see if I was having any more problems. Highly recommend!!

I called This company to inquire about coming out to a home that I manage in the area. He was very rude overall and ended up hanging up to me. I was hoping to have a great relationship with a plumber for this home and another; however during his call, he was unwilling to work with me because I am work for a property management company and he's fighting to get paid from other management companies. I assured him that this wouldn't be a problem as I could pay at time of work with a credit card. he stated he does not take credit cards. We discussed service fees and then that is where he stated his service call fee of $125 to look at a toilet. From there I asked him if that was standard cost as it seemed a bit high (just a general question as I am not from that area). He then proceeded to say if you don't like it and it's too high then look for someone else. Then he hung up. I called this company because of the high reviews he had. WOW, I was wrong but glad I found out before he did anything on a home that I manage. Will never use this company again, simply rude, unwilling and unprofessional. Can I give 0 Stars??!!

John and his son, William, are as professional as it gets.  They clean up after themselves, are honest,prompt and thorough. We will definitely use them for all of our plumbing needs!

I woke up to a cold shower yesterday and decided real fast that I needed some professional help... probably with my hot water heater! I tried the local plumbers  on Angies's List and none were available until the next day. I didn't want to wait!  I found John's name and number on YELP and after reading the reviews decided to call him. I am so glad I did. He was here within a few hours and remedied my problem very quickly, all for $90.00. John is professional, knowledgable and a pleasure to work with. We have found our new plumber, for sure!
