Oscar has been my go-to handyman for 2 years. He's worked for me a half dozen times and is a joy to work with.

Fast worker, on-time, and knowledgeable. He's willing to do small or larger tasks. He's hung photos, mounted TVs, painted, repaired furniture, repaired fridges and sinks, etc. He's always on-time and has a mask (during COVID).

His hourly rate is also very reasonable given how quickly he works (~75/hour) and he's willing to buy any supplies you need for the job ahead of time (ex. paint, GFCI outlets, wiring - whatever).

He is super polite and professional. I've always felt comfortable inviting him into my home to work (even when I'm alone). It makes it a joy to work with him.

I trust that he'll always do a great job and is speedy. Love that he also texts which makes setting up appointment times easy. I've recommended him to three neighbors already since his work is reliably high quality.

I have worked with at least 5 different handy people in my life, and Oscar stands miles above the rest. And the rest were good! Oscar is freakishly fast, accurate, helps me come up with solutions that I never thought of, and is fairly priced for the area. He is so quick, I feel like he provides double the value. He is also just lovely to be around and talk to. I have worked with Oscar for many years and won't work with anyone else. I'm spoiled by him!

Effortless communicating with him, as well. He understands what I'm looking for immediately.

Oscar installed a new garbage disposal at our place in the Mission. It was a complicated project involving moving pipes, installing the hardware and electrical, etc. He was very responsive, connected us to a plumber to do necessary prep work, and most importantly did excellent work at a reasonable price. Very professional and proficient. Highly recommended for handyman needs.

Used Oscar again to fix a broken garbage disposal and he was great.  Was good to catch up with him since I hadn't needed to use him in quite some time and he was masked up and even took his shoes off though I didn't ask him to (though I don't wear shoes inside).  Quick and efficient work and is still my go to handyman!

Oscar was super punctual, kind, timely and effective! We had a couple of issues around the house (including a doorbell that had started smoking when rung) and he knocked them all out in no time. Really enjoyed meeting him and would absolutely ask for his help on future projects! He mentioned he's been doing this sort of work since at least 2006 in the area, and his years of experience showed.

Ok so this Oscar person is the most unprofessional, rude handyman ever. I contacted him about replacing a laundry sink and he assured me that he could do it. After weeks and weeks of delay, he finally stopped responding to my messages?!!!

Who conducts business like this? He is RUDE and INCONSIDERATE!

I am NOT begging for the work to be done, I was PAYING for it. All Oscar had to say is a simple Yes or No and stick to his work. According to my experience with him, I DO NOT recommend him, because no paying customer deserves to be treated as a BEGGAR!

Let me start by saying it is not easy to find a good handyman in this city. I requested quotes from over a dozen handymen, Oscar not only had the best price, but was also very thorough from the beginning. He asked for more information, photos, etc a gave me a specific quote for how long it would take and also responded quickly!

He was booked out 3 weeks, but this was a small job as I was not in a rush. (It speaks to his high quality work that his only bad reviews are people he didn't do work for).

The night before our appointment, he texted to confirm. Oscar arrived today to do the job (he was running 10 minutes late but gave me plenty of advanced notice). He was polite, knowledgeable, and a great handyman. We needed a wall, 2 doors, and the door frames patched and repainted as our Dog had scratched it all up during training. He did the work very well in 2 quick hours, was quiet and kind, and it looks as good as new!

Plus, my dog does not like strangers and is usually very afraid, but he loved Oscar! That's a glowing recommendation on its own.

We've used Oscar for years as a handyman for various jobs around the house.  He also did the bathroom in my condo that I rent out for a very reasonable price and excellent quality.
I especially appreciated when he was honest about what he could do himself and when he had to bring in a specialist to handle something and how much that would cost.  Too many contractors try to hide their levels of expertise and by then it's too late to do anything. But Oscar is always very honest and direct about all aspects of the job.
Of course now that everyone knows how good he is, he's become very popular and scheduling him can now be a challenge.

Found Oscar through yelp.  Couldn't be happier.  Easily communicated via email and right on time.  

I sent him my original issue which was a light replacement that confused me significantly.  He emailed me back with how to do it instead of just coming out which I thought was very considerate.  I still didn't feel comfortable doing it so we arranged a time to come out and we replaced the light, swapped out a microwave and hung a piece of furniture in a couple of hours.

Definitely will work with him again on any future home needs.  Highly recommend.

Oscar is a great handyman. After calling at least 10 others who never returned a call or weren't available for weeks, I found Oscar on Yelp. He was extremely easy to schedule with, responsive via email, phone and text. He came out to do the job quickly, charged a reasonable rate, and did a great job. Since then, he's been our regular handyman and done things like install smoke detectors, rehang doors, adjust stuck doors, change light fixtures, re-silicone bathtubs - pretty much everything we've needed. He's always on time, pleasant, and just really easy to work with - which is hard to find in the home improvement space. So although I fear that the more fabulous reviews he gets, the busier he'll get - I just can't help but share about how great he is!

I found Oscar via Yelp. He was amazing! he installed my bay windows + curtains, a picture ledge, a frame and mirror in less than an hour. i just moved here from nyc and was looking for a reliable handyman--i will definitely call oscar next time! cannot recommend him enough.
he was timely, thoughtful and professional. his rate is $55 / hr but definitely don't forget to tip :).

Oscar just left my condo. He fixed and installed several things that my late great husband used to do. We have an appointment for next week for him to fix a door frame. He'll be my go-to fix it man. He's great, kind, and I'm happy to support such a good and hard working family man!!

Oscar came this morning to handle a few small jobs on my new house. I'm definitely compiling another list for him because he did such a wonderful and fast job. He was super respectful from the very beginning, and his price was very fair. I'm so relieved to know I've found such a great handyman!

I needed someone to paint my one bedroom apartment and Oscar responded quickly, came by my place that week for the estimate and gave me an amazing rate. The new paint was finished in a day and looks beautiful! He even was able to cut holes in the wall behind my mounted flatscreen TV to hide the cables which were a huge eyesore. Very nice and friendly guy. Would definitely be calling him again for any needed home repairs or touch ups

I have been looking for Oscar for over 20 years and I finally found him here. He started with a job that I paid two other 'handy-people' to fix. They each spent a couple of hours working on a door to my yard that kept swelling to the point that I couldn't open it. I contacted Oscar and he came by the next day and immediately figured out what the problem was, fixed it, and thanked *me* for contacting him. Now he's working on a 2-page list of jobs (some small and some not-so) and is almost done. Oscar is a professional; he works quickly and thoroughly and he can do most everything 'house.' He referred me to others for two jobs out of his area. He's also a family man; how sweet. Oscar is the whole package, and I look forward to working with him for years to come.

Oscar has been doing work on my condo for a couple years now and always does an amazing job. He always explains exactly what he's doing and let's me know how I can save money intelligently. He's done a really wide range of jobs on my building -- leak repair, door installation, painting, power washing, minor plumbing -- in one case fixing a leak after a roofer tried and failed three times. Oscar truly goes above and beyond in all his work and is just an all-around nice guy.

Reliable service is difficult to find but Oscar handled everything in my house like a true professional.  He not only fixed my door jam, windows, and changed some bulbs in my condo, he explained the reasons why it broke in the first place and how to prevent it from happening and other useful tips.

We communicated via e-mail before his arrival and he was very responsive and helpful.  

Now that I've found a good hairdresser, a good place to service my car, and a reliable handyman, my life feels so complete!

Oscar was prompt and very knowledgeable which helped us in picking the right light fixtures He did an excellent job installing a new switch and 2 fixtures. He's fast worker and cleans up after. We'd hire him again.

I have hired Oscar multiple times over the past year, to fix all kinds of things around the house. He is so capable and very very efficient. I've hired other handymen who lolly-gagged around and in the end didn't do such great work. Oscar is head and shoulders above the rest!

The first time I hired Oscar, I gave him a long punch list. Having gotten used to lollygagger handymen in the past, I expected him to take all day. When I checked in on him about an hour later, I was amazed to find he'd already gotten through half my punch list. I couldn't believe it! And the quality of the work was superb.

Since then, I've hired him every few months for various projects, and I'm always so impressed with his work. He does carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting -- you name it! He is also very honest, clean, and conscientious. Because of his track record, he has gotten very very busy and that is the only downside. I have referred him to several friends who are equally happy with his work. I may be shooting myself in the foot referring him, because he gets busier and busier by the day it seems, but he deserves all the work that's coming to him.

Oscar goes the extra mile, every time! He is very professional, has good ideas for changes to make my home more efficient and comfortable, and is a gentleman.
My little boy loves him; bonus!  
He is very popular and therefore VERY busy, so it's good to email him as soon as you have a batch of things you want done.

Oscar is the real deal.  We had a time-sensitive project that he was able to finish in less the time than we thought (on a Saturday, no less).  

He's professional, punctual, good at communicating, works quickly, and charges a fair price.  Highly recommended.

Oscar is so great! He was fast, thoughtful and just a really nice person. One of the pieces of furniture that I had (diaper changing table) had a crack in it and he immediately came and told me before he started to build it. I appreciated his honesty and the heads up. He also told me to take a picture of it and and put in a complaint to amazon.com (which is where I purchased the piece from). He is really great. Definitely will call him again!

PS - He is VERY polite. Took off his shoes before he entered my apartment. Asked me before he touched anything or went into any room. These are little things but they can go a long way! He's just a really solid person!

We had rain water leaked thru from one side of the walls on our house, I had called several handyman for the job and couple of them never returned my call, or they didn't want to do the job.  Finally, I found Oscar on Yelp, he was great, he was on time, very friendly, very neat.
He did some caulking and repainted around the leaking area, hopefully that takes care of the problem.  Oscar did a good job, definitely I  will use him again.  Thanks Oscar!

Oscar rocks!  He can do anything - electrical, dealing with CAT5 wiring, adjusting windows, painting, you name it.  He is really good - and also good at telling you when it's more than he can do and you need a tradesman (painter, roofer, etc).  He's super professional, always on time, highly efficient, and very independent - just give him the list and it will be done.  I highly recommend him!

Oscar helped me out with several small projects around my house. Oscar arrived on time and was really polite and friendly.  He was totally patient and listened when I explained what I needed to have repaired. WOW! Oscar is amazing. I had him and a different handyman work on my place recently and he was more efficient and did a better job on similar tasks.

I had a few tasks to do at my place, which I got a quote would take a few hours. Oscar had everything done in half the time.  Some of the tasks I thought would be more time consuming, but he finished them in about the same amount of time it took me to unhook old roman blinds and unwrap a new set.

He is very responsive and accommodating. Since he is this good, he gets booked up. I can't wait to work with him again.

As many others have said Oscar brings much to the table. I have used Oscar countless times for a commercial property I manage. From moving complex low voltage door access systems to painting Oscar does it all and with a great attitude. I highly recommend Oscar and hate the fact i have to share him with all of you lovely people :)

Oscar came on time and installed my TV for me. He had to go to the store to get the hardware he needed, but did not charge me for it.

He is a nice guy and I would have him back to my house to do projects I don't trust myself to do.

Oscar came and helped us with a wide variety of work from the simple (installing towel bars) to the more complex (replacing fixtures, sink faucets).  I cannot recommend him highly enough.

He is prompt, technologically current (emails, texts, tracks all his hours electronically, etc) is conscientious (took his shoes off when he came into our apartment, patient with our curious young daughter), and most importantly he is extremely capable.  I will continue to use him and expect to tackle bigger and bigger projects with him.

If you need a reliable handyman for the big and small jobs, Oscar is a great choice!

Oscar really helped us out! We had a few small things that needed repair: clogged sink, loose faucet, bent window screen frame, and a clothes dryer on strike. I called or emailed about 5 other handy-people I found on Yelp. They all said they wouldn't go the work. I think cuz it was too small potatoes for them. Oscar got back to me within a day of leaving him a voice mail and scheduled over email. We needed a weekend appt and he scheduled us for the next Saturday, showed on time and got the work done within the hour, just like he said. We'll definitely call Oscar again!

Hired Oscar for a job to install a new vent fan in my downstairs bathroom. It seems he just dropped the job after initially providing a quote. There was no follow up, despite my wife and I continually reaching out to him via phone and email. I thought he would be reliable based upon the other Yelp reviews and he was definitely not. I am searching for another handyman now to complete this job. I was not impressed with Oscar at all.

Oscar is the consummate professional who performs his services efficiently and in a high quality, friendly manner. If you happen to have a honey do punch list that just never seems to get done (like I did), Oscar is your man! He can install light fixtures, hang mirrors, paint a wall, replace a toilet, build a deck, and even put together your daughter's new red wagon (she still thinks I did it). My wife and daughter are very happy that I finally called Oscar, and you will be too!

Oscar is a gem! He reviewed the photos of the broken ceiling light I emailed him and he suggested to me that he buy a low cost part in advance of the repair so that he wouldn't have to leave during the repair/installation. (He provided me with a receipt for the part in his invoice.) He arrived on time. Oscar is pleasant and professional. And, he charged me slightly more than half of what another outfit quoted me for the fairly basic repair. I'll take that kind of savings --on top of excellent workmanship-- any day. Thanks, Oscar!

I was referred to Oscar by my good friend who used his services for various upgrading jobs to his new home. First off- he was late for our initial consultation meeting at my house. I overlooked that due to my friends referral. He then claimed that he would get my painting job done In 4 days since I was  planning on moving some furniture in. Well- come the third day- I just went to visit to see how he was progressing and he hadn't even started! I immediately called his cell and he gave me a song and dance about his wife being sick. I accepted his excuse even though  I scolded him for not even calling me to update the status of the job. I was the one who called him and that's truly unacceptable. He then promised to get the job done the following weekend but of course that never happened either. I called him once again to cancel the whole deal and asked for my piece of wood which he took in order to match the paint with. Can you believe this guy actually told me to come get it from his house in San Francisco??? I live in palo alto. What a terrible businessman!
I called my friend and told him the whole story and he offered to call him and get my wood piece back---- well- it's been 4 months now and my kitchen is still missing a top drawer. Ummmm- so NO. I would definitely not recommend this con artist.

Oscar has completed many jobs for me. I've had him hang pictures, paint/patch/repair walls, refinish furniture, build things - he can do it all! He's completely trustworthy, and his handiwork is excellent. I've recommended him to several friends and they all think highly of his work. He's really good around kids - my boys love when he's around.

I hired Oscar to build some shelves in my storage room. What he built ended up looking more like nice furniture than generic storage shelving. I was really impressed with the quality of his work, and his price was very reasonable. I will definitely use him again.

I hired Oscar to do a few random things in my kitchen.  He was friendly, on time, and his rates are very reasonable.  He is highly recommended.  He is now my go-to guy for all my handyman needs.

Oscar has done so many kinds of work for me--plumbing, electrical, painting, construction.   He's extremely skilled, fast, conscientious, and reasonably priced.   He's also a kind, warm person I always enjoy seeing.

It took me a long while to figure out if Oscar deserves a three or four star review.  I settled on four stars, because he does good work at a reasonable price.  But it could easily have been a three (or lower--read more on that below).

Finding the right handyman, I think, is never easy no matter where you live.  Finding one who is responsive, on-time, priced well, and does a good job is practicable impossible.  When it was clear we set a definitive time to meet (more on this later), Oscar was on-time.  That happened a couple of times--once to get him an understanding of the tasks; the other to do the actual work.  His price was $45 per hour for labor; the parts that were needed were ones we agreed on before the work was done and he provided a receipt.  Given my investigation around these parts, that hourly fee for someone skilled in a few key areas is OK.  The repair work looks very good, and I have no problems with the quality and cleanliness.  Indeed, I should point out that he probably saved me a needless electrician visit by catching an issue that was stumping me (a circuit breaker that had not completely been reset).

So.  All that was good, and should have earned him in the range of a four or five.  But the timeliness of communcation was simply almost unnacceptable.  He apologized for it a couple times, and I appreciated that.  This was to set up meetings, to confirm times, and even to discuss future business.  And his inability to respond in a timely manner to communcations (it did not matter if those were pages, emails, or calls), I think, is both due to the need to spend some time with this family combined with doing lots of work for other jobs (12 hour days, I think).  I do not fault the guy for wanting to spend time with the family, and my items were definitely not an emergency.  But good/timely responses can make all the difference.  I think his is a single owner/proprietorship, and maybe this is just par for the course with handymen--the better they are, the better reviewed they get, and the more trouble they having keeping up with everything.  But beware--his problem in this area had me almost (twice) just giving the job to someone else and writing a more negative review here.  But if I did that, I would not have found out that he really does do a good job (at least he did for me).

I had a simple, straightforward job for Oscar, which involved cutting out and partially removing a wood countertop.  He pretty much nailed it.  He came over within an hour of my call, exactly when he said he'd be there.  He was ready to do the job on the spot.  He explained his approach and the process well, did the job skillfully and efficiently, cleaned up properly, was a good value, and was a nice, friendly guy.   I will definitely call upon Oscar again if I need a handyman in the future.

Oscar is extremely good, efficient, clean, and does professional high quality, detail oriented work, which makes him extremely busy.  It can be hard to get hold of him but it is worth it.  Rates are very reasonable and we are glad we were able to get him to do our work -- minor repairs, redoing trim.

I hired Oscar to do dry rot repair, build wooden awnings, install a new exterior utility door, install a new dishwasher, and paint the back of my San Francisco house.  Oscar was very attentive to detail, did excellent work, cleaned every day before leaving, and made great suggestions for the project.  I would highly recommend Oscar for those who need help across various home upkeep projects.

I called Oscar for assistance on our shower door that was not closing properly.  Oscar's availability was great and he arrived exactly on time.  Turns out the door needed minor 10 min adjustment and Oscar did not want to charge us any fee for service.  His rates are very competitive otherwise.  We will definitely be calling him back to work on bigger projects like a new fence as he was timely, very friendly and professional.

I had a break-in at our office and needed an emergency repair of several doors that had been kicked in. I called Oscar and within 2 hours he was the office making repairs. He did a great job and was flexible about the timing (as it was an office space he had to come and work in the evenings to get the job done). The price was very reasonable and he's also a very guy. I would highly recommend him, especially if you need something done immediately.

Oscar has done a number of jobs for me and my building from installing a light, to hanging pictures, to painting the outside. He is always reliable,  can come through in a pinch (e.g. came back right away to do something I had  accidentally failed to ask for originally), does a really nice job, and is super friendly and nice to deal with.
