The previous owner switched to Donovan Heat & Air as the maintenance provider a few years prior to me purchasing the house. I know because I rented my home before the owner offered to sell it to me.

I just renewed my second year maintenance plan and have been pleased with their work and professional employees. Today, Ross came out and provided my Spring maintenance. He took the time to explain things about my heating/ac unit and the brand the last owner purchased.

The work took about one hour, and I'm provided an update on how my equipment is operating. This gives me peace of mind that my unit will not go out anytime soon. But if it does, I have priority when I call for a repair and will receive a discount on any needed work. This also extends to plumbing or electrical issues.

If you do not have a hvac maintenance plan, you are missing out. They may find something in one of the semiannual evaluations that could save your unit or at least extend its life. Give them a call or schedule an appointment online.

I have not personally used Donovan's, but will NOT use them when I need A/C help. I have constantly seen their employees in company vehicles act and drive like complete a-holes. Today took the cake. Was driving on Palm Valley Road, when a sales truck I'm guessing was to busy texting/on his phone to notice the light had changed. After 2 other cars passed I honked. He continued to look down at his phone in his lap. While trying to get around him to turn onto nocatee center, he then slowed down, and then flipped me off after I was able to get around. That response because I honked 1 time. He looked to be a thinner gentleman with a dark hat on and sunglasses.

Earlier in the week, one of their service vans was finally pulled over by police as he had been speeding and driving like he didn't have a care in the world.

These two most recent encounters show that the people they have working for them are not about customer service, and disregard anyone around them. I would hate to trust them with my needs for service as I think these actions show a lot about someone. Do whatever you want, as long as you don't get caught.

Donovan bought out Superior air & heating, where I was a 20 year customer . Our A/C is under warranty and the fan motor gave out. I called them and they quoted me $540. I told it was under warranty and they told me that was the labor to install. I went out and bought a replacement fan motor with the capacitor for $150 and installed myself. It took me, an unprofessional, less than 30 minutes to install. There customer service is poor and we won't be calling on them again.

They put in the wiring we needed for new dryer, and they put in a second switch plate on a light. Very knowledgeable and efficient. They make sure the job is done right.

Donovan Air installed our mini split today on our guest bedroom. This bedroom's exterior wall faces west and the afternoon sun does a job on that room so that it causes the main AC to run more than necessary. These units are amazingly quiet and definitely helps maintain a more balanced interior climate now.

Cory and company were a pleasure to have on site. They were on time, very professional, courteous and left the job site clean as they found it. Brandon in sales gave us a fair and reasonable price. There are many AC companies advertising and it's hard to choose which one to go with. Having a reliable HVAC company to turn to is very important in Florida. I recommend Donovan Heat and Air without reservation.

I am extremely satisfied with the HVAC work that has been done on our home. The responsiveness of the company and of the entire team was amazing. Preston recently completed a project in our home and was absolutely wonderful to work with. He was very detailed with all explanations of work and had a positive, determined demeanor throughout the project. Dillon also provided very thorough explanations and contributed in an excellent manner to all work that was completed. Working with Preston and the entire team has been a great experience and we look forward to continuing to work with Donovan Air for future work on our home as well. 10/10 stars for Donovan Heat, Air & Electric! My ac coils started to freeze up so the ac was not cooling the house. I called Donovan and within two days, the problem was solved.  The technician James who corrected the problem, was knowledgeable and respectful of my property.  I'm so happy I am now using this company.

I participated in a fundraiser for the Tim Tebow Foundation hosted by Woody's Bar-B-Q in Ponte Vedra and won a couple of auctions for items and installation- one Nest Learning Thermostat a one Oasis Air Purifier. Both items came with free installation and I got them for a great price and benefited a wonderful non-profit! FIRST~ Thank you Donovan Heat & Air for donating products and services for a fantastic cause!

We called last week to schedule the installation and the person who called knew exactly what we won- hooray! Always a worry, will we get someone who has no idea what we are talking about- not here! We were able to schedule for today between 3pm-5pm. Now, the techs got hung up at another job, so they ran a little late- but when they arrived, they were great! You ever come by someone who loves their job? And it just makes you happy to do business with them??? That was the case with Donnie and Greg- they came through our door with such great energy! I got lots of info from them while they were here too. Apparently our unit is top of the line- hey hey.... (new home owner here). Carrier is the brand they recommend buying. When it is time to replace, I have a list of recommendations- upgrade capacitor turbo 200, 15 seer or better, variable speed, replace copper lines and drain line. I know what half of that means, but I noted it down for future reference and this review is my backup!

As for installation- they were done pretty quickly. Donnie installed our new air purifier and Greg handled the Nest. Getting Nest online took longer than the installation! My Andriod Phone didn't care for the QR code on the Nest thermostat screen. Pft. I really enjoyed having these gentlemen install our new items and it made a huge impression on me for future services. I am very tempted to buy into their annual service plan! Might be a Christmas gift for my house!

My mom and I liked the 2-day duct work performed by Donovan Heat & Air.  Were blessed to have 5 guys on first day when we were expecting 4 guys and were blessed to have 4 guys on second day of which could have been done with 2 guys instead to finish up.  Call this amazing efficiency at the time of opportunity.

I just had a new AC system installed by  Donovan heat & Air and am very satisfied. Their technicians are knowledgeable, courteous, and very prompt. They will call you back quickly and will arrive at the time they are scheduled. The city inspector came shortly after the install to close the permit and he found everything to be perfect.

I had Donovan service my ac unit and they replaced a capacitor. They charged me $400.00 to replace it. I went on line to find the exact capacitor for $89.00 . I went to there office and the  mgr agreed to refund me $200.00. I will never use Donavan again . I have shared all this info with my association neighbors about the company rip off.  Do not use this company unless. ???????

i  recently had routine service on my air handler.  I was fortunate to have Eric service my unit. He by far one of best very knowledgeable and very engaging. We recently had out  HVAC and duct work replaced.  We have found this to be very good experience. Donovan Heat and Air  has been servicing our prior unit for 8 years without problems.

The salesperson Brandon was very professional and knowledgeable about the product  and very pleasant to work with and answered  any questioned we had concerns our project.

The install team with team leader Nicholas was very punctual both days and did the work in a very professional manner. Since our house is  older and has the original duct work that was fitted for oil heat the install was somewhat difficult, but was in an excellent manner. The team exceeded our expectation !!

Donovan Heat and Air has been the only company that we have used here in Jacksonville. We are near the beaches, it helps that their main hub is located right in Jacksonville Beach. They are extremely responsive to calls for help... They respond to telephone calls or internet inquiry. Shannon called me back within 30 mins of filling out an internet questionnaire. They were able to schedule an appointment within hours. Felt bad that it's during a pandemic and obviously to respect us and his other clients, the technician Rodney (great guy) maintained 6 ft distance from us, wore gloves, and was very professional. He should be considered an essential worker too as Florida heat is about to come and our AC unit broke last night.

There has been several reviews of them being expensive... you get what you paid for. Sometimes having someone show up on a Saturday within hours to fix your cooling problem when it's 85 degrees outside is worth $155 service fee. Fortunately for me it was an easy fix. Within 30 mins, it was all square. Ice cold air began to stream throughout the house. The technician also gave me some maintenance tips.

This is pretty routine compared to my other experiences with Donovan Heating and Air.

If our AC unit goes, then I will be calling them for business.

Very honest business. I was hesitate to do the evaluation since I want to have the air duct clean ASAP. However the technician came and told me that my air duct are very clean and does not need service. He helped me open two vent that were closed. He also helped me clean an air vent cover. Will definitely use this company again. Thank you for being honest!

My AC was cutting itself on and off and ice was on the handler. It was 97 degrees outside and I was panicking that I would have to go through a hot night without any AC. I looked up different AC companies and saw the great reviews for Donovan. I called around 10am and they had somebody to me by 2pm same day! The worker Ryan was super helpful, found the issue fast and gave me solutions. I had to get a new AC. There was no hard selling and pushing me to get it done like other companies I've worked with, he made me feel that all my options were just that, mine. He went over financing options and emailed estimates to me. I immediately called later that evening and set up for service. The installer Damon and other guy was prompt and installed my AC perfectly. I was even called by a nice young lady the next day to make sure everything was up to my standards and the techs cleaned up after themselves. I was so pleased with the customer service and the fact that they send you pics of the techs that will be coming out to your home. A few days after the installation they even sent me a beautiful gift box thanking me for my business, wow! It's the little things that make you feel appreciated by a company and this was it. Thank you Donovan! You have a customer for LIFE!

We have a service contract with Donovan Air and are so appreciative of the excellent and timely service whenever our HVAC systems need attention. Even during these pandemic months, the service calls have been fast and efficient.

Most of the interior HVAC systems were newly installed by Donovan into our home about a year before we purchased the residence. The work appears to be excellent and is holding up well during our ownership.

Numerous Donovan team members have made routine service calls (part of the plan) and special trips when we needed a repair. All of the workers have been top-notch individuals and welcome into our home.

Our AC unit was past its prime and needed replaced. I placed a call and made an appointment for an estimate. Aaron Thacker came out. He was knowledgable, knew the existing equipment, knew the equipment he was selling, and provided me a quote on a new system. Aaron inspired confidence, didn't try to oversell me, and I arranged to have our new system installed.

Brian Fluharty came out on time the next week to install. He was polite, courteous, and skilled. He came out at 8am and was done by 1pm. He left our place clean; vacuumed and took all the trash away.

The new unit is great! The old one sounded like a freight train. It was over 20 years old. This one allows us to talk instead of raising our voices or volume on the TV. It is also quite a bit more efficient.

I am a retired building automation controls tech. Having had to deal with customers I had a template of what I expect when someone comes to do work for me. They have met my high expectations and would highly recommend them.

We called Donovan heating & air because our AC had gone out (again).  We have been putting off a full system replacement for a couple of years and it was on its last leg.  

Stephen assessed our situation and informed us that to patch the repair would be about half the cost of a new system.   So we began discussing the costs.  We instantly felt that we were in better hands with Donovan than the other companies we had used in the past and opted to not only replace the AC system but the ducting as well.

Donovan offered financing through Wells Fargo bank. They started the job 2 days after the initial visit and completed the entire job in two work days.  They techs were very courteous and kept us abreast of everything were doing.

They adjusted our system so that all of our rooms cooled evenly Vice having one room that was an ice box and one that felt like the Sahara.

Their pricing was reasonable and their maintenance plan is worth the price.  We highly recommend Donovan's.

I can't say enough about this company! Vickie was amazing in getting me scheduled quickly for service. Made sure I knew when they would be coming. The tech, Eddie, called on his way. He came prepared with a mask to wear if requested. He communicated with me through the process and took care of my concerns. I am now signed up for their maintenance program to keep an eye on my older unit. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. The BEST customer service

The answer the phone when you call, they understand your problem, they arrive when they say they will with text updates.  The technicians are always nice knowledgeable and honest and their prices and quality of products and services are top level are top notch.  They even brought his wall units and installed  them while we wait for a new system.

This is probably the most expensive AC company in Jacksonville area. I was charged for $420 for replacing the capacitor. If I rejected to do it , the service charge will be $125. Most the other companies charge around $75.

In March of this year, I was in contact with Aaron Thatcher concerning dehumidification for my new residence on Mill Stream Road in Ponte Vedra Beach.  Mr. Thatcher, who gave excellent help in the past (when we lived at The Pointe on San Juan Drive) estimated the job.  We went back and forth about a guarantee of the humidity level the dehumidification system would provide.  A guarantee could not be established, but at a subsequent meet at the Mill Stream house, we were able to come to an accommodation.  At this same meeting, Thatcher agreed to have a technician come out and commence an annual service contract on that same date. The work was scheduled for April 17.  

With the installation date near, Mr. Thatcher called to inform me that he forgot to order the necessary equipment, and the job would need to be delayed until April24.   I accepted this delay though I was troubled by the lack of follow up by Thatcher.

On the day before the April 24th scheduled installation, I received a text message from Donovan reminding me of the job for the following day.  I texted back to remind Donovan that a technician was to also appear to set up the house on an annual maintenance plan.  Your office called back saying they had no order for the technician.  I was shocked that Thatcher missed this as well.  I asked that Thatcher be called to resolve the matter.

Thatcher did call back to inform me that he had no recollection of anything to do with scheduling the maintenance technician, though both my wife and I clearly remember discussing it at length with Aaron.  In fact, we asked Aaron if we wanted us to pay him for that service technician, and he stated that he would prefer to have us pay the technician because there was a commission involved that could only go to the technician if we waited payment.  Hence, we have a clear recollection of the matter though Aaron does not.  It certainly will appear in his notes from our meeting.

Thatcher was short with me when I pointed out his failure to order the need dehumidification equipment in a timely fashion, and he maintained his claim of no recollection of the discussion of the maintenance technician order.  I told Thatcher that I am frustrated with his failures.  And, he responded that I could cancel if I liked.  I did not like his tone, nor his cavalier manner.

We had ordered an expensive dehumidification system, and I did not like the abrupt ultimatum given, so I took him up on his offer to cancel the entire project.

What a pleasure to deal with Donovan Heat and Air!  Can't recommend them highly enough.
My AC-Heating unit quit on a very cold New Years Eve and although I was not yet a customer, Joel sent a technician out immediately after I called to repair the unit.  Since I planned to replace the aging system, I asked for a quote.  Aaron followed up with a visit, assessed the unit and gave a very fair quote on replacement.  The installation was completed by Adam and Ben, two very professional and polite installers.  Great company, great employees.  Thank you!

Tech was pleasant and on-time. Charged me just over $500 including service call to replace motor on blower under Carrier's warranty. Thought it was very expensive but was going to pay $125 service call if I said no thanks. He than offered a discount to join some sort of service plan for the year. In the end almost same expenditure. Had another company replace more parts under warranty yesterday (never buy an assembled in Mexico Carrier again), he informed me his charges would have been $175.00 including service call to replace same motor that Donovan performed. So overpaid by $325 for their service call. The other company was a small two man team that has a 5 star rating on yelp and FB. Your call if you want to spend the extra money. 2 stars instead of 1 for pleasant, prompt and every expensive service.

Great experience. Blessed with same day service and got our AC up and running. Made a more sensible repair to help out unit last longer in this rainy florida weather. Our air handler started making a real racket on the coldest day of the year thus far. We called Donovan and they sent a very knowledgeable and professional technician named Brit out later that day who listened to the noise for about 10 seconds, diagnosed the problem, drove back to the shop and got a part and came straight back and fixed it. It took less than two hours! You can't beat service like that. They are the best! I highly recommend them.

I have used Donovan for several years in different homes I've owned.  They are always on time, professional, take the time to explain the issue, and have never seemed to try and get me to pay for services I don't need.

While they may be slightly more expensive than some other companies out there, I know I'm getting the best service and quality and would rather pay a little more for that.  

UPDATE 3/7/17

Donovan has again exceeded my expectations.   I recently sold my home in Avondale that had an air handler that was around 30 years old.  Just before closing, the AC and heat stopped working.  Donovan came out the next day and replaced the transformer to get the AC up and running again that same day.   The heater was a beast.  Donovan originally quoted me at just under $300 to replace the pilot igniter that had failed.  When that didn't do the trick, they stayed on it working easily over 15-20 hours on it to figure out what the problem was, replaced several parts at no charge to me, and basically rewired a majority of the unit and got it back up and running.  James was the tech who did a lot of work on it, and then they even brought in one of the owners of the company Jimmy Donovan to assist.  They only charged me what the original quote was, which was amazing considering the amount of time and effort they put into it, and did the job right.   Not only that, but every employee at the office knows the current status of your job and was extremely helpful (Tim, Josh, Rich).  I can't think of another HVAC company that wouldn't have just given up and said you need to replace the damn thing, and charged me way over what the original quote was.

I will be using them exclusively on my new home for all heating and AC needs.  Customer for life.

Called Tim at 10 am and even on a hot busy Monday the Service technician showed up at 4 PM. He quickly diagnosed the problem, quickly diagnosed the solution, and less than an hour later I had cool air once again!  Always reliable always prompt and courteous and would highly recommend them.

Matt with Donovan Heating and Air, was a true professional. He started our service by putting on some shoe covers upon entering our house. Although it wasn't necessary, it meant a lot to me given that in my culture people take off their shoes upon entering a residence.

He then serviced our system and then debriefed me on the systems status. I felt that he was honest and forthright and wasn't looking to sell me service that I didn't need. Thanks Matt!

The AC in our new house went down and we didn't know who to call. Honestly I called them because of the great reviews I saw on line. I have to say, they were extremely professional in everything they did. When I called in, the Owner even answered the phone! They arrived quickly and serviced my unit for a very reasonable price. I like dealing with local companies like this. They have expertise, but you can just tell they care.

Since we moved to Florida 4 years ago we have used Donovan for our heating/ac service.
They have always given us great service.  Last week during the extreme heat our ac was not working.  Within two hours they were out and added freon that low due to a leak in the coil.
Given the age of the unit we decided to replace the unit. The following week our new unit was installed.  The technicians that  worked on the job were great.  We are pleased with the service that Donovan has provided to us over the years and would recommend them to anyone in need of heating/ac service.

This is the second time I had Donovan out in a month, 2 separate problems. Both times they came out, after hours, and were there inside 2 hours. This time a technician named Britton came out. Great guy, clean cut, someone you trust to let in your house. Diagnosed the problem, had the part, was quick and cleaned up when he was done. I like Donovan, good fast work and they care about the image the put out as well as taking care of us like they love having our business. Keep up the great work , and keep Britton on payroll, he a great representative for your company.

These guys do good work at a fair price. However I was disappointed when they were the only ones to quickly say that I needed a new system and that I shouldn't put money into my old one. Another company patched it up fine for minimal cost, and at lasted almost two more years. I did not use Donovan when I got my new system but I will give them a shot next time for service/maintenance calls. I like to support local small business when possible.

I was very impressed with their professionalism and installation process. After getting 4 estimates Donovan was the only company to walk my attic (in August!). They explained that I had a few air ducts that were improperly sized causing my bedrooms to always be hot. They were also the only company to point out that my unit was too small (3.5 ton) and that I needed a 4 ton based on their calculations. As such my power bill has gone from $250 to $125 and I have consistent, even temperature throughout all the rooms in my house. Lastly, Joel Donovan even came out to my house to make sure the installation was perfect. I couldn't be happier with them.

I am reluctant to give them 3 stars only because they talk very loud and are noisy. Granted I know it's construction work but I run a dental office and my patients don't want to hear their conversations about air conditioning and who knows what else. They are all very polite, I will give them that. They also were willing to come back after hours to get it done today.

We had Donovan Heat & Air service our house a couple times last summer. They provided great service and I am especially pleased with their follow-up. They called nearly 6 months later and are coming to clean our unit which was included with out previous services. We had completely forgotten about it and so I really appreciate the follow-up. Fair pricing as well.
