We do not provide traditional plumbing services, rather we specialize in pool and spa leak detection and repair, and have a pool/spa contracting license. We also provide slab leak detection, and tracking the source & origin of mystery water damage. Our offices do not have a plumber on staff for home and business plumbing repair services. Residential and Commercial Services Provided. We are properly licensed and insured and background check all of our employees yearly.

As the Original Leak Specialists, we have detected nearly 5 million leaks since 1974, saving home and business owners billions of dollars in costly repairs and gallons of water. Our technicians are all specially trained. Our mission is to find leaks in a manner that is non-invasive, efficient, and environmentally sound. ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
The Nagel family purchased the American Leak Detection franchise in July of 2001. At that time Steve spent six weeks at the American Leak Detection corporate headquarters in Palm Springs, California. While there he completed an intense training program that became the base for the vast skill set he posesses today. Steve is a natural puzzle solver. That, combined with the state of the art technology that we employ and over twelve years of successfully locating leaks, makes Steve an experienced master of leak location!
Steve lives in Palm Harbor, Florida with his wife, Jennie and young daughter, GG. While not working, he most enjoys spending time with his family and friends and playing golf. A large part of his work day is spent in his car traveling across our five counties to get from job to job. In order to pass the time away he listens to audio books. His favorite author is Ernest Hemmingway and he has HEARD every one of his novels.

I can not say enough good things about Steve and American Leak Detection. We had a slab leak and it was tricky to locate, but Steve managed to find it within less than an hour. He was personable and professional as well as efficient. I would highly recommend American Leak Detection to anyone who has a leak they can't locate!

This post is a few months late in coming...a lot going on. So excited to applaud a firm like this. Steven arrived on time, explained EVERYTHING he was measuring, showed me the results along the way and charged an extremely fair price given the distance he came to inspect the house. And speaking of inspection...my leak concern was in the garage. He checked every room of our tri-level home. He could have been in and out in no time...but he took the time to check. And, yes, our 41 year old house has a water issue....but one that is naturally occurring with age. Steven didn't try to sell us a solution. He explained what we could do to mitigate what age brings to a home. (Sounds like my primary care doc!)
Strong recommendation of this company for anyone with a concern. In these times I'm glad I have one big worry off my plate.

I have used American Leak Detection on two occasions. They are an EXCELLENT provider. From appointment scheduling to arrive at your home they are the best. They provide specific times and a text tracking to inform you when their technician will arrive at your home. Their senior technician Michael has been at my residence both service calls and he is nothing short of OUTSTANDING! Very customer focused and keeps the customer informed as to what he is doing to remedy your situation. I have been extremely satisfied with their service.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to WeatherTite for excellent customer service and backing up their customer guarantee! We love our new windows but we were still having leak issues that we hoped would be fixed with these new windows. Weather Tite and their company partner American Leak Detection helped us identify and fix the leaks on the back side of our home!
We truly appreciated Steven (from American Leak Detection) and Jeff (from Weather Tite) coming to our home to evaluate the leak issues we continued to have after our window install.
As per Steven's recommendation, we painted the areas with elastomeric paint and have had NO leaks to date!
To say we were ecstatic would be an understatement!
We also greatly appreciated Steven's willingness to waive his traditional fee for his visit.
We are thankful to Weather Tite for standing by their service promises and to American Leak Detection for helping solve our leak issue when no one else could!

Worst experience I've had in Tampa. Do not use this company. Thought we had a leak, called them to detect it.. they found nothing after 35mins and still charged us the $350 flat rate (which was not stated in the first place). So we are basically where we were yesterday not knowing why the floor boards are buckling but donated 350$ to a company for shooting an expensive leak gun at my wall. Going to report to better business bureau.
American Leak Detection technician came to look at my pool was very courteous and professional. He worked on the pool quick and went over his findings with me. He also sent a report via email. I was completely happy with the way work was done.
We are buying a house in New Port Richey and the standard inspection showed a leak in the plumbing as the meter still slowly turned despite nothing in the house running. Fearing the worst, we called American Leak Detection to see what they could find. Tami came out and found the leak was outside of the house and a simple thing to fix. Outstanding service and a great value. I would use these guys again and happily recommend them.
I had an amazing experience with American Leak Detection. The staff was extremely friendly and the technician responded promptly. I also like that they promptly tell you when your technician is on the way during your time slot and send out some information about them. My technician was able to fix the issue on the first visit and took a thorough look at my pool

Had a leak with our pool in Valrico, FL. American Leak Detection first wanted to make sure there was in fact a leak so had us perform a test at home so we didn't waste money for a problem that was instead evaporation. After we confirmed a leak, they scheduled and sent a technician (with a great system for informing us by text of the time / location of the technician) who fixed the problem, explained to us the issue, and provided a clear report. They provided a 60 day warranty if any subsequent issues arise. Highly recommend.
I would avoid American Leak Detection Company and go with another company (I ended up with RedRhino). For starters, American Leak Detection told me they isolated the leak, charged me a lot of money to fix it, and when I told them the leak was still present in the pool, they said they were unable to locate it. After several contentious emails back and forth, they said they did not want to do business with me anymore. This was again after I was already charged for the problem to be fixed and never was. I got RedRhino over and they found several leaks and came back 4 different times to make sure the pool was not leaking. The customer service was 10x better than American Leak so I will never work with this company again.

American Leak Detection are fantastic. They worked diligently to find my leak. It was a challenge but after several tries Dylan and Mine finally zeroed in on the leak and got the job done. I could not be happier. Hopefully I don't have another leak but if I do I know who I am calling! I highly recommend them.

I was very skeptical of using a chain on something like this! My pool was loosing 2 of water a day.
Troy was great to work with. He communicated extremely well from while in transit until the final wrap up. They off a 60 day warranty on there repairs.

We were in the process of selling our home when an inspector questioned something going on with the water system. Called these guys to check it out. Hello everyone on 12/14/18 I had American Leak Detection come out to my home in Wesley Chapel to find a leak in the bathroom Sheetrock wall which I was very concerned due to the fast spread of mill due which can develop very fast. The technical asked me questions then accessed the damage did some test and found the leak coming from the outside window shutters; I thought the leak was a pipe in the wall. I will have the builder fix it since my home is only 4 years old and they were trying to put the damage responsible on my home insurance. They fixed our leak the first time we were very happy but it only lasted for about 6 months. We are continually adding water to our pool again and when I called back thinking I had a warranty they said it's only 3 month warranty. After MJ was here the first time most of our Jets we're leaking which he epoxied and I thought it would last longer then 6 months for the Co$t of over $400 repair. I would like to use them again since my pool company recommended them but probably won't if they won't back up or give us a little break on a return trip which they said they cannot do over the phone. So I'm now looking elsewhere for a new leak detection company and changing my review. If I hear back from American Leak detection and can get this resolved I will update my review ASAP.
We've been working with ALD for the past few weeks and their customer service and pool technicians are knowledgeable and always on time for appointments. They also provide the pool technicians name as well as ensure they pass a background check. Can't really ask for more piece of mind than that. Thank you ALD for the honesty and great service!
Water flooded underneath the kitchen counters, so I wasn't able to see where the leak was coming from. The technician inspected the kitchen and surrounding areas. Once the leakage was found, he dedicated how to fix it.
This business did a very thorough job of inspecting the pool and repairing the leaks in a timely manner. We were left with a thorough report which included photos, and the cost was very reasonable. Work was done very professionally.

We had some wainscoting cracking in our home, before just having it fixed up we wanted to find the issue causing it. The main water pipe is on the same wall, so for peace of mind we called ALD to come out to make sure we did jot have a pipe leak. When Dave came out he immediately got moisture readings on his device. After testing our pipe there was absolutely no evidence of a leaking pipe. This was of course good news, but Dave did not stop there, he was determined to help find the culprit. After investigating different areas, he found that our window frame was the culprit, showed me exactly how and why! Now we can fix everything knowing the exact issue and we did not tear our walls apart doing so! For a mysterious possible home leak I can not recommend ALD enough!

We had a hot water leak under our foundation. No water inside, thankfully! Tami was thorough, patient, and she found the leak!! Plumber then able to do repair! American Leak Detection is very professional. They sent notifications telling us when to expect Tami, information about her and her experience. I felt I knew her based on the information they shared. I felt no reason not to trust and let her in the home. They had even sent me a picture of her! I have nothing but the best to say about Tami and American Leak Detection.
Troy was great. Arrived at the front door socially distanced. Very professional and explained everything well to a non-expert pool owner. The leak was covered under the initial charge.
I was blown away by my follow up visit by Dan today. He said something that you rarely hear with small local businesses in FL. We want to make sure your concerns are taken care of. After fixing a few leaks 3 months ago I noticed my water level dipping - even though I was passed the warranty period I agreed to have them come back out, even though it may cost me $$$ again. Dan evaluated everything and determined the issue was just normal evaporation and didn't charge me for the visit. He went as far as to set up a bucket test so I could see if there really is a leak. I felt horrible for having someone come back out but Dan was more so concerned that the problem was taken care of. I am thrilled with this company from Jenny and Jesse who answer the phones with a smile to Dan who wanted to make sure I was happy.

Great service. They responded very quickly and Dan was able to find the leak in our pool. He was very friendly & easy to work with. I have used this company a few times and they are always so helpful.
I had a leaking pool. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Dan, the technician, was amazing! Highly recommend! He found and fixed the leaks in my pool in no time!
Great company. I have used them three times in the past year. I love that they confirm the appointment and text when the technician is on their way. They also have a picture of the technician with a bio. This helps since it is often a tenant or seller in the property when I call for repairs. MJ Howard was the technician on my most recent repair. He fixed the problem and explained in detail what to expect in the future with an older pool that needs work. I strongly recommend this company.
