Trustworthy, reliable and expert plumbers! Tim took the time to thoroughly clean my very old boiler when others said it couldn't be fixed.  It's still running!

Tim Whistler visited us to review the work done by the original person, and ended up showing us that their business believes in good work, not just good enough. He realigned the crooked shower faceplates and even adjusted the handle to a traditional off position; properly installed the unattached valve lever; and fixed a small leak that we hadn't even noticed yet. Tim finished the repairs well before our drywall contractor arrived, and he was also polite in his explanation that they currently had a flat billing rate for the type of service being done. We would certainly consider them for future improvements, but we might try to hold out for the availability of one of the well-reviewed plumbers named in other reviews.

Tim put in a water heater for me.  Great service and he was fantastic about communicating.  His estimate was accurate and his price was great.  He and his crew were wonderful to have in my home.  Very happy to have found a plumber that I can recommend.

Tim's team installed a new range for me that needed both gas and electrical hook ups. Because the model had a different design than my prior one, the gas line had to be moved. They did a great job working on time and leaving no mess.

I found them on Yelp and scheduled an appointment to service my gas log fireplace insert about 10 days out.  Our  furnace went out  at my house last night, leaving me with no heat for a day or two, so I really needed my fireplace to function so we had some form of heat.  I called Tim Whistler Plumbing, explained the situation and they had someone at my house in about an hour(a little luck was involved, but great customer service too).  The technician was great, diagnosed the issues, gave me repair  options and did his business.    I am in the construction industry and am spoiled by being able to use my normal guys to handle almost all my home issues, but none of them service gas log inserts.   So I went out on a limb, trusted the yelp world and hit a home run.  An absolute recommendation was earned by Tim Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting.

We found Tim on Google when we were looking for a second opinion on plumbing needs for our new house.  Tim answered our call over Thanksgiving break while out of town, and still walked us through scenarios and pondered/explained the repairs our other plumber proposed. Based on this we went with him, and we were so impressed with his work.  He's very detailed and his work is of the highest quality.  We're very happy we used him, and plan on using him again in the future.

This small business is the gold standard.  Prices are competitive, scheduling is easy, communication is excellent, and the work is top-notch. The owner of the company genuinely cares about making sure everything is 100% right and customers are satisfied. We needed a new hot water heater, and Tim Whistler handled everything, from recommending, ordering, and picking up the heater through installation.  The plumber who came to our house noticed that the furnace connection was not up to code, and that got fixed on the same day the new heater was installed.  It's clear that everyone at this company has high standards and a commitment to good customer relations.

Robert came on time at 7 am and quickly and efficiently confronted our leaky second floor toilet. He had to cut In to the ceiling to locate the leak. He was in and out with parts (at a close by location) with in 1 1/2 hours. He cleaned up the dust and was off in a flash. Great service and competent staff!

Our kitchen sink clogged from some accidental grease being poured down the drain. I called and Tim himself answered and scheduled an appointment with a plumber named Mike the next day. Tim was also straight forward with the price upfront, which was a fair price to me. Mike was masked the entire time and wore shoe covers. He identified the issue and even taught me a few things about what was going on. He quickly fixed the issue and disinfected the area and ensured it was all clean and no mess was left behind. Mike was friendly, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. 10/10 this is my new plumber service. I've used other plumbing services in the area and I've always felt like I was being upsold for things I didn't need. This company did not do that, which made me feel like an appreciated customer.

We had trouble trying to get two outdoor faucets working. We contacted Tim whistler and they responded almost immediately. Matt identified the problem, fixed it, and was done within 30 minutes. He was very friendly and professional, and took the time to walk me through the issue and recommend maintenance steps. Tim whistler is definitely my go-to plumber from now on.

I applaud Tim and his professionalism. I wanted to switch my electric stove over to a gas stove. I knew I needed a plumber to do the work but I wasn't sure who to hire. I came to Yelp and of course many businesses came up. I picked three of them for an estimate. I was impressed as soon as I opened the door for Tim. The first two guys gave me a price but would never give it to me in writing. Tim came with his estimate writing pad with him. The other two guys told me I didn't require a permit. Tim not only explained the permit to me he also took care of getting it. To convert the stove I had to have another electrical line run because the outlet I had would not fit a gas stove. Tim made it easy on me and also installed the plug so that I didn't have to search for an electrician. The other guys told me I had to hire an electrician which would have been more money. Tim asked if he could start early. I said yes. My appointment time was at 6am. Tim was outside waiting at 5:45. Can you say reliable? His work was very professional and neat. I also had the water line installed for my new refrigerator. I am so pleased with his work that he will be back to my home in two weeks to replace a much needed water heater. If you need any plumbing work done, Tim is the man. He has a customer forever. Thanks Tim!

Called for a minor plumbing issue and they were really great!  I called in for a Monday appointment at 6am (operator had said that they would arrive between 6-8am).  Well and behold, the person came at EXACTLY 6am!  Not only that, they had also sent a text message along with a picture of the person handling the repairs.  I was quoted over the phone regarding the exact price and there was no upselling anything. My only one request would be that the person either take off their shoes or wear protective covering over their shoes because he did bring in some dirt/leaves when entering my house.  It did rain the night before so it wasn't entirely his fault, but something to consider in the future.  Other than that, great service customer service and the fact that it's a locally owned company makes me want to use them again in the future!

Before moving into my new home I needed some work done on the gas fireplace and the backflow preventer on the sprinkler system to be replaced.  A different plumber I called wasn't licensed to work on sprinkler systems, and then I found Tim, who could not only do the sprinkler work, but could repair the fireplace as well.  Turns out the fireplace didn't need any repairs, but Tim graciously cleaned it out for me.  Sprinkler work was done quickly and of course the morning of my appointment the garbage disposal stopped working.  No problem though, as Tim was able to add that service on to my appointment.  Scheduling the appointment was quick and easy and arrival timeframe was confirmed via email a few days prior to my appointment.  Will definitely be using Tim again for any plumbing or fireplace needs!

Have worked with this company twice so far and I will definitely call them for future plumbing needs. Fair rates and personsable staff.

Their whole house inspection service is a must for new home owners!

When I have a plumbing issue, they responded quickly and are transparent about what to expect, possible costs and what they cam actually do to help. And I love the automated appointment tracking and invoice system they use...everything with them is so painless.

Maria, who handles logistics, was friendly and very responsive. Mike Rogers completed a two-person job himself (switching out 3 toilets and two 3-piece bathroom faucets) and was the most courteous, considerate and efficient professional I've ever worked with. This is my second time using this company, but I'll ask specifically for Mike in the future!

I've been a Tim Whistler customer for years. They are quick and very responsive via email or phone. They show up on time, do competent work, and do not leave a mess. They might not be cheap, but I feel confident the work is of good quality. I recently got a drain snaked with very little notice and am happy with the work.

I've used Tim Whistler Plumbing multiple times, as the house we bought 7 months ago seems to have a different plumbing issue each month. FIrst and foremost, Tim helped us resolve a massive main sewer line issue that needed WSSC involvement and us moving out of our house for four days. It was a total stressful nightmare, but Tim advocated for us to WSSC and was always available for questions or to come by. His team has also done easier jobs like replace a toilet, snake lines, replace a sump pump and replace the garbage disposal. Several times he or a plumber came by to check something and didn't even charge us.

Tim and his crew provide great customer service, fair pricing and quick response time. I like the online system they use that sends me a text message when the plumber is en route -- very helpful.

I feel like the two-star review below isn't fair and should be taken with a grain of salt. I compared costs for multiple jobs and Tim's rates were comparable, or less, than other plumbers. This stuff is expensive in general! And the equipment he installs has solid reviews online and seems to last longer than other equipment -- so I see it as a long-term investment that will save me money over the long haul. And as far as whether the customer service response was rehearsed? Hasn't ever been my experience, and the fact that the company gave that person a refund is testament to how fair they are. Perception is a person's reality, I guess, but the fact that there's all five-star reviews here and one two-star review should tell you something.

What a great experience.  We picked Tim Whistlers team because of the high ratings.  We also gave 5 stars because everything from the initial phone call, scheduling the time, the rapid response, common sense approach, and the really nice way Tim spoke about his wife ( who is his partner and had arranged the speedy delivery of our new water heater ) helped to make a not so good situation into the best it could be.  Highly recommend!

Our shower didn't have any cold water and three plumbers from other companies couldn't isolate the problem. Matt from Tim Whistler came out, quickly diagnosed the problem--a clogged t-valve in the water line--and replaced the riser to restore water to the shower. He also saw that a previous plumber had incorrectly reinstalled the shower cartridge and fixed that issue as well--all at a fair price.

Matt was patient with our questions as he was diagnosing the issue, transparent about the cost, very courteous, and provided excellent service. We highly recommend hiring Tim Whistler Plumbing and will be doing so for our future plumbing needs.

I had a great experience with Tim and his crew. Inspected issues over the phone during COVID which was free (no diagnostic fee). I needed a new water heater, and the new Maryland/MOCO codes require new chimney lining and basement ventilation if semi-finished. Tim pointed everything out and the fact that I did not need an expansion tank just from looking at my main entry point over the phone. I also had him replace a cheap shower faucet manifold/set that had plastic cartridges failing every couple of years.

The crew was very professional and took great care of my house, I pointed out a soft bamboo floor and they placed a mat and didn't touch any surface while lowering the water heater to my basement.

I did have a warranty issue to contend with, the new water heater had a factory issue, and Tim sent the crew immediately and they put a brand new one in place within a couple of hours at no charge. Everything has been working great.

While not the cheapest company out there, they performed great work and stood by their warranty. Rob in particular is very nice and reassuring, a very valuable trait on a plumber!

Tim Whistler Plumbing has a customer for life. The sewer backed up into the basement of my new home. Tim and his helper were there within two hours to repair, record, and report the sewer issue to the WSSC. They used top of the line equipment, explained everything they were doing, and charged me a fair price, especially for emergency service on a Sunday. I wish all service providers were as professional, thorough, and reliable as Tim Whistler Plumbing.

I called on a Monday morning because my 20 year old water heater was failing and had to be turned off, thus no hot water in the house.  I sent photos of my water heater, and by 9:30 a.m. I had a quote (30% less than another quote I'd received the day before).  By 11:00 a.m. Matt the plumber arrived, and by 3:00 p.m. I had a new water heater and the old one had been removed.  From start to finish, the project was handled efficiently, courteously, and professionally.  I don't think this could have gone any better, so I'm adding my stellar review for Tim Whistler Plumbing to the others.

My son told me about Tim Whistler plumbing because he was so impressed with their work at his house. He is so right! Yesterday they sent 2 wonderful plumbers to help us with multiple issues we had been avoiding during the covid time. They resolved every issue and worked nonstop for 7 hours. Both were very pleasant.informative and easy to have in the house. They also left every area very clean. Maria is also great to deal with in scheduling and helping to figure out problems. Tim Whistler Plumbing is professional, responsive, and reasonably priced. We needed a new water heater. I called half a dozen places, but Tim Whistler's fair quote and quick responsiveness made him the clear winner. They did a quick virtual consult over video chat to prepare a quote, which was super convenient. They were able to get us a new water heater installed in a matter of days at a reasonable price. It was a tricky job to fit the water heater in a tight corner of our basement, but they got it done quickly and without complaint. They even took care of all the permitting and the required inspection from DCRA--normally that is no walk in the park, but Tim Whistler's team made it a breeze.

We have used Tim Whistler plumbing several times. Our water heater burst in October while my wife was at home and I was away on business and he had someone there very quickly. They replaced the water heater same day and another technician (my HVAC guy) later remarked that the piping to the new unit was a work of art. That is...the plumber Ben used the most current/proper approach (something about crimping and not using a blow torch).

In January we used Tim Whistler plumbing to connect my gas line to my new gas stove (we chucked the old electric one) . He also connected the gas line to a basement gas fireplace that he also installed. Job was done on time and I know the fireplace gas line was difficult to implement b/c the fireplace is below grade. Maria who schedules the jobs/answers the phone is great. Ben as I mentioned is at the top of his art, and Tim himself is very responsive. We are extremely happy with their work.

Finding a reputable, dependable plumber can be challenging. Look no further. Our family strongly recommends Tim Whistler Plumbing.

We've had to call on Tim Whistler Plumbing a few times. The first was when we detected a leak in our gas line. Tim responded promptly and repaired it. While there, he examined our hot water heater, finding that it was approaching the end of its life, which was not surprising. He walked us through the process and replaced it.

A couple of days ago, we ran into an immediate problem, and Tim came out quickly to diagnose the problem, and he used video equipment to scope our old cast iron pipes. He encouraged me to watch the video with him, and to our relief, he found no issues with our pipe.

A customer learns more about a company when something goes wrong.  How/if the company resolves the problem tells you everything you need to know.  There were a couple of problems with the job--an inaccurate estimate being one--and Tim bent over backwards to resolve the issue to my satisfaction.  He lost a couple of bucks and gained a customer for life.

Tim Whistler Plumbing provided me with excellent service two times in the past month. I recently purchased property in Takoma Park MD and my new house required some attention. TWP ran new gas lines for me for a gas range (to replace electric) and a gas fireplace and a gas grill. I also purchased a new hot water heater. Weeks later, I needed a kitchen faucet to be replaced. The staff and team members at TWP are customer service focused and they met my needs every step of the way. Each project was discussed at length before work commenced to minimize surprises and to determine the best work plan. I highly recommend this business for your plumbing and gas fitting needs.

Tim Whistler answered our call on a Saturday night at 7pm. We are lucky he did as we found a hidden leak in our lower level family room and water had collected under the flooring. Tim Whistler came the next day on a Sunday to identify one of the leaks and fixed it. The other leak was behind a wall and a book case was against part of that wall so that was found a bit later.
I have had another plumber, Frank from Tim Whistler come to replace both outside front and back faucets and the major valve for water into the house. Frank did an excellent job as well.
Maria is an excellent office manager and I got updates and reminders via email throughout the process for all work done.
I highly recommend Tim Whistler.

Tim is an incredible plumber! I decided to do the lead pipe replacement program in DC, which is a huge regulatory  headache as many things in DC are. All along the way Tim was taking the time and attention needed to get everything to the next phase. Whenever HE had a deliverable or a job--filling out govt paperwork, pulling a permit, actually replacing the pipe--he was ready the day before to do it and would provide AMPLE notice and communication about when and how it would happen. He explained things very clearly and honestly the whole way through. I never felt any lack of confidence in hiring him, and he was very patient with the DC regulatory process. Would recommend him ten times over!

Tim Whistler Plumbing came out to do a camera inspection of my sewage line after I was told by another plumbing company that I have a break in my sewer line. That first plumbing company was eager to come out to dig up my backyard to fix the so called break, so I wanted a second opinion. Frank from Tim Whistler did a very thorough inspection and found no issues with the sewage pipe at all. I appreciate his detailed explanations. He honored the price quoted over the phone as well. I also asked him to quote me a price to replace our hot water heater. Not only did he quote a fair price, but also mentioned that we have a few years left on it, which I appreciate his honesty. I will definitely ask Tim Whistler to take care of my future plumbing needs.

We hired Tim to replace our old and not up to code hot water heater, and threw a few weird time constraints at him around a drain system installation.  Tim made it all happen, gracefully walked us through the hot water heater choice and showed up when he said he would and stayed on schedule.  When the construction allowed us to find a cracked waste pipe and not up to code washer and dryer plumbing, he fit fixing those in right away.  None of it was what I'd call cheap, but we are 100% confident he did it right and we won't habe to worry about any of this for at least a decade.  I'd never call another plumber.  Also Maria in his office is wonderful to work with!

If I could give Tim Whistler Plumbing 6 stars, I would... We've used his service twice in the past 6 months, and plan to hire him again. We called to have our basement drain snaked (and someone was sent over the same day!) and we had such a good experience that we hired them to install a new sink, faucet and toilet in our bathroom. Matt and Mike did an excellent job in both instances. Tim was a pleasure to work with - he provided us with very detailed quotes, he's extremely knowledgeable, and scheduling an appointment was very easy. We highly recommend Tim Whistler Plumbing to anyone needing plumbing services.

We've used TW for several jobs since we bought our house (water heater installs, toilets, clogged drains, hose bibbs and more), and we've always been pleased with the work, customer service, and promptness of the people who come to our house. They don't try to sell services or items that are not needed. Pricing is not the cheapest, but it's straightforward and we appreciate the thorough invoices.

We had a good experience with Tim! Our project is to install a new gas line for the new gas stove.  We sent a request online and got response quickly.  Tim came and gave us a free evaluation. The price was better than the other company.  Scheduling was very smoothly.  They came up on time and finished project as planned.  Tim was very patient and he helped us answering our technical questions.  We passed inspection immediately.  I'm  very happy with my gas stove now!  We definitely would like to consider him for our future project.

Fast response, efficient work, and top-notch quality service.  We have used other plumbers to fix our issues, and I ended up having to call Tim Whistler Plumbing to come out and fix that shoddy work.  Save yourself the trouble (and $$$$) and call these guys first!

The first time Tim came to do an estimate he called to apologize in advance for being late. He was running 8 minutes behind schedule. He has consistently that conscientious.
We've had him do a series of jobs in our kitchen and bathroom. He does great work and charges a fair price. His communication is proactive and thoughtful. He does what he says he will, and follows up to be sure everything worked out as expected.
Tim is someone we trust and rely on. Given the other bids I've gotten on jobs, that's not so easy to find.

Frank, from Tim Whistler, was absolutely perfect!  The entire company was so professional and prompt.  Frank arrived exactly at 6:00am and was able to inspect, diagnose and repair our gas fireplace.  He was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything.  He cleaned the glass and was very neat while he repaired the fireplace.  We highly recommend this company for professional, prompt, clean and very capable repair services.

I had replaced my tile and carpet for LVF. Well my bathroom tile was from '74 and when it was removed, my flange for toilet was way to high to put my toilet back. Vanities didn't fit either.  I'm having company come in for a week and they are using those bedrooms with bathrooms.. HELP!! I called and Tim's crew saved me! They came out, got it fixed and functional.  I will be having them return in a month when the new vanity arrives and it's not broken.  My last one came broken, carrier took it back.
Thank you! Thank you!

We've used Tim Whistler for a couple different major jobs.  They installed a new water heater for us, and it's worked great since they did.  We also used them to evaluate and repair some plumbing leaks in the house.  They were incredibly thorough and finding the leaks, using cameras to verify that the leaks weren't occurring elsewhere, and just generally trying to do everything required to fix the issue with as little disruption to the house as possible.

Tim Whistler's plumbers do an excellent job of communicating.  I always understood what they were doing and why they were doing it, particularly when disruption to walls or other areas was required.

Highly recommended!

TLDR: Tim Whistler Plumbing tried to scare me into a paying them $1700 for a new bath faucet, value, and shower head, because they didn't have the right parts to replace a leaky tub faucet and broke the parts that were in the faucet.  Then lie to be about not being able to stop the water leaking, to make it seem extremely urgent. Scumbags.

Updated 3/26: 24 hours after leaving this review Tim Whistler has officially replied. Instead of accepting where he and his team were wrong, he has decided to deflect blame,  and berate me and my property. Tim state that ...the has been neglected and shortcutted for years... Just in Jan I had listed my property for rent so readers of this review, feel free to check out my neglected property and judge for yourself. realtor.com/realestatean… In January I had spent $6500 to install high grade luxury vinyl throughout the property which really shows how neglected my property is, right Tim??? Way to go Tim, your a true professionalism shows in your reply. Also is charging $75 to replace 2 toilet seats is really fair and honest Tim? Two screws per a toilet seat takes you about 15 mins??? I will let the readers of this review know when you actually refund the amount you have suggested.  Joke of an owner.

I reached out to Tim Whistler Plumbing for a leaking tub faucet in my investment property.  I saw they had great reviews online and figured why not help a local business that could be suffering from COVID.

I was initially told $125 fee would be charged for a visit, but would be applied to the work if it is done, so I said great send someone out thinking it would be a diagnostic fee which can be applied to repairs. They came out the following week, and provided a quote for an additional $375.  They sited a Flat Rate Fee for the installation of a cartridge in the water value. I am somewhat handy, and I had done this repair a few years back with a friend and was taken aback with the additional $375 charge on top of the $125 fee which is was ultimately NOT applied to the repairs, and rather was a fee for them to just come out.  I had initially said no i don't want them to do the work because of the cost, but then decided to proceed because I didn't have the time to do it myself.

They reached out stating they have the part and they could come out 3/24 am and do the cartridge replacement. They came out on time, and I start getting calls while I was in a work meeting, and could not answer.

Once I had the chance to check my phone I see a text saying We really need to talk to you, please call as soon as possible. We are not going to be able to repair the valve at your tenant. And we cannot turn the water back on because they're is no way to stop it from leaking out. You are going to need a new tub shower valve.

So I get on the phone with them, and I am told that the cartridge they brought was not the right one, and that they don't know which one is the right one. They had also broken the cartridge that was in the value, so they say there is no way to stop the water from leaking out and I needed to make a decision on how to proceed.  I have been in sales my whole adult life, so I already knew what was happening.  They were trying to use a classic scare tactic to charge me a higher price because of urgency. So i asked him how much it would cost, the guy on the phone say Well we would have to replace the value and faucet, if you don't mind it would cost $1700. ummm What!?!?!?  So I replied Quiet frankly I do mind paying $1700 for a replacement. I also tell him that I had done the same repair myself a few years ago and question, how is a master plumber not be able to find the right cartridge, while a laymen like myself was able to find it at a local plumbing parts store.  He asked me to get off the phone so that he could tell his master plumber to stop doing the work before it was irreparable. Unbeknownst to me his master plumber had already cut a hole in the wall without my consent.

He calls me back and says he will try to locate the right cartridge and send a new quote but they were able to cap the pipe so the water can be turned back on. A few hours later I get a quote in the range of $700. So we went from $125 to $375, to $1700, back down to $700.

Ultimately, I spoke with another Plumber and he was able to install a brand new shower head, faucet, value, with a shutoff switch at shower, AND a access panel for $650 the very next day.

I get it, people need to make money but not this way. Seemed extremely dishonest.

Scumbag company.... I do not recommend

We used Whistler Plumbing recently for a new hot water heater and hot water boosters in our house. They were extremely responsive and pleasant, handled the job quickly, and even sent someone out a week later to check something for me and explain how the boosters work. (FYI, the boosters give you instant warm water at faucets that are far from the tank.)

They also not only informed us about the legal chimney liner requirements, but handled installing the liner and sent the inspector to approve it on a day of our choosing.

We are very happy with them and would use them again.

Tim and Frank are the best plumbers you can find.
I hired this company for removing gas pipes for my fireplace and I keep bringing them back for more plumbing work to my house. I told them that they are like drugs ,addictive in good sense.
They do work according to the codes and they do it right or they do not do it at all. They are on-time and communicates  well and they have an app that will send appointment information, when the tech is on the way and when the work is completed etc. This is a pretty decent and organized plumbing company. I highly recommend them.

Thanks to local ListServ, I contacted Tim Whistler plumbing and found his business to be outstanding (I had a list of 6 other plumbers that we've used over 30+ years and his firm was shoulders above all. We had a 'toilet' appointment of replacing one and fine tuning the other two.

Tim actually answered the phone when I called. From the first contact to the last, they were: professional, easy to work with, efficient, and no-nonsense. We were beyond delighted and now Tim Whistler is our go-to plumber.

WHAT AN AMAZING COMPANY and staff! Without hesitation this company made ME (feel) a priority to fix an unsafe situation and gave me ease, comfort, professionalism and a pleasant experience. Tim, the owner, came out assisting his professional team, gave me details of their tasks and just was a great experience after not having a comforting one when my water heater died. From Maria the office manager, to Tim the owner and his great team, I'd recommend them over many of the commercialized franchise of companies out there. Detailed info from the beginning of the estimate to the final completion of the job! THANK YOU GUYS!!!!

We had a completely blocked pipe in an old bathroom pedestal sink. Tim responded very quickly to my call, and we got an appointment set up right away. Really great experience. Easy to schedule an appointment and get someone over to look at our issue. Frank did a great job, immediately identifying the problem. He not only fixed the problem but also gave good suggestions for what to do in the future with similar issues. Very reasonably priced. Didn't recommend anything beyond what was necessary. Really appreciated the honesty, safety precautions taken with masks, and work done. We haven't had a problem since! Highly recommend.

Frank came out to evaluate and repair our gas fireplace. The fireplace had even scared a power company gas inspector with a hissing gas sound.

This is a busy week, but Tim & Company worked us into the schedule. And they came out right on time. Frank called 20 minutes before arriving. And was able to examine it, determine the problem, (corroded batteries in the remote receiver box), noted everything else was clean and in fine working order. He got the box working. Everything was clearly explained. He charged pretty much a minimal and fair price without trying to sell anything extra.

I will have no problem calling them for any gas or plumbing problems in the future.

No wonder they have so many 5 star ratings!

This plumbing business was highly recommended on my neighborhood listserv. I needed a new toilet installed and chose them as my service provider. From the point of making my appointment they stood out as exceptional. I appreciated their assistance in selecting the right toilet and answering other plumbing related questions.  The plumber who did the installation and removal was courteous, kind, efficient, and he worked through all the challenges of working in a tight space and removing a really old toilet. I had a great experience with Whistler Plumbing and will use them again and recommend them to my friends!

Homeowner here in Chevy Chase, and I went through several plumbers before finding Tim Whistler and now not looking to switch. Just a quality run business through and through. From Maria taking orders to the techs they send on site, everything is handled professionally and the work is always nicely finished. There might be cheaper plumbers out there. I'm not really sure. These guys are a small company with fantastic service. I took a chance and called after reading Yelp reviews to have my sump pump checked after a heavy rain. First, the person at the office told me how to try and adjust it before charging me for service call. Who does that anymore? When I called her back needing more help, she politely told me that it would be 3 days before they could come but said she would try and get there before then if they had any cancellations. 2 hours later, they called and said they would be right over. They checked my system, gave me an estimate to repair/upgrade and explained everything in detail. Support small businesses that care about service quality and actually want you to be satisfied with their work and remain a customer.

I had Tim Whistler's firm replace and install a new hot water heater in my home. They were first rate from beginning to end. They were on the job within a couple of days of my first calling. The installation was done meticulously and in consultation with my wife and me---especially regarding the placement and appearance of exhaust pipes extending from the hot water heater to the outdoors. The company also made certain that both the unit and the room in which it was placed was totally within Washington, DC's residential code. They did things by the book, and did them extremely well.

A neighbor recommended Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting and we've been very happy with their services. They have done a couple of major jobs for us. One involved correcting a pipe that had been installed into the house at an angle, leading it to leak. The other involved replacing an HVAC system that we'd already spent thousands trying to fix. Literally like six different companies came out multiple times. They all said it was a mess, but that they could fix it. They all charged us but the problem was never fixed. Frank took one look at it and told us we needed a new system, rather than encouraging us to throw good money after bad.

The last time they came we couldn't be home until later. I trust them enough that I left a key out for them, which is not something I would normally do.

Getting a quote and scheduling was easy--Tim or Office Manager Maria were rapid in their responses, thorough, and helpful. The quote itself (for a backflow preventer replacement) was very reasonable. Work done by Frank was quality, and even though the new installation unexpectedly required a bunch of new pipe fittings (which Frank had to go off-site to get, costing the company time and money) the quote didn't change. Really happy with the work and service, will definitely call them for my next plumbing problem.

PROS: Quick, got the job done, great with communication, easy payment system
CONS: Higher price, messy after done

We had an issue with the kitchen sink, the water kept coming up and not draining properly. Our garbage disposal was operating normally, however, after we switch it off, the water would come back up. Then the backflow caused a leak under the sink. I'm pretty sure it's because my husband kept putting the coffee grounds down the drain since we've been staying at home due to COVID-19. He's not doing that anymore.

We called three different plumbing businesses, and Tim Whistler (Maria) guessed it would be a snake job and quoted us $300 and said they would put us on standby for the same day. Another plumbing business said they couldn't get out to us that same day but quoted us a lower price. We wanted the job done quickly so we went with Tim Whistler. I appreciated the quick communication via text and email. They couldn't get out to us the same day, unfortunately, but scheduled us for first thing the next morning. They did the snake job as expected, and the clog cleared up. They said maybe we needed to replace the garbage disposal and quoted us a price for replacement. I said no, and it's been five days now and no issues with our sink. They did leave a bit of a mess under the sink with the backsplash from the snake job. I had to clean it up myself.

They sent us the invoice via email immediately after and they had a secure electronic payment system.

We needed a new hot water heater. Our 22 year old hot water heater was slowly dying, our showers were getting colder, and we could no longer take baths because we didn't have enough hot water to fill the tub.  Three days before Christmas I submitted a message on the Tim Whistler website asking for an estimate. I didn't think I'd hear anything back until after the holiday, but to my surprise Tim responded to my message that day, and on Christmas Eve he came out to our house to look at our water heater and provide us details on his services. We had contacted other companies but Tim was the most responsive and helpful. So on January 21, 2019 Tim's team came out to install a new 50 gallon water, with a 5 gallon expansion tank. They arrived early and were very professional and efficient. By noon we had lots of hot water flowing through our pipes. Tim's company applied for the permit and coordinated the WSSC inspection. Not only does his company provide great service, they are the most responsive company I have ever worked with. They send emails and text messages to confirm appointments, they send estimates and invoices on the same day that they provide service, and they follow up. A great company all around!

This was a long review that had been truncated.  I just (July 2020) came across the complete review, and figured I'd put it up.  Haven't interacted with Tim for a while, having relocated to North Carolina ....

*Rootless in Silver Spring*

May 2017

We've had problems with roots in our sewer line since we moved into this home. We had (NOT) managed this issue with one of the local Big Box plumbing companies. When the line backed up, it was usually during the weekend or a holiday. They were always happy to come out and pull the toilet, snake the line and run some water to make sure that the clog had been cleared. This was very expensive, inconvenient and unsettling.

They knew how far down the line the intrusion was, but could not determine where in the footprint of the lot it was. When we asked about remediation they never offered a way to figure that out without digging up the yard and/or basement floor to look for it. Early in the chronology however, they did determine that the sewer line from the house to the street was damaged and we had that portion replaced at considerable expense without alleviating the root problem.

After the latest recurrence, we decided to get another perspective and asked Tim to pay us a visit since we'd had such a good experience with him previously. He came out and used a camera to confirm the previous findings. He also used a detection device that enabled him to estimate the position of the problem area and found that it was located at the foundation. He theorized that the line had been damaged by previous seismic activity, with resulting cracks that allowed root entry. After mulling things over, he decided that there was a possibility that he could access the area by digging through a small area in our basement floor to cut out and replace the damaged portion with new piping. If that didn't work, we'd have to dig up the yard again to get at it.

He came back several days later and with the help of his crew (Devon, Rob and Maria .... THANK YOU) managed to replace the section of pipe. It was dirty, rigorous work, and there were several unanticipated problems that were resolved with considered thought and patient perseverance.

With all the problems in the world today, it sounds trite and irreverent to say this, but this has been a life-changing event for us and we are grateful to Tim and his crew for helping us out.

Our 75 gallon water heater stopped working. When we moved into this house last summer, I figured this was a possibility given its age. What I didn't realize then was how the basement hallway was built/finished in a way that was too narrow to accommodate removal of the old water heater. After talking to a few vendors that did not want to take on the work of cutting up the old tank and instead suggested going tankless (not interested), taking out a whole wall along the hallway and rebuilding it after removal (no way), or just abandoning the old tank in place (what?), Tim Whistler came to rescue. He explained clearly that he can cut up the massive water heater as needed, and put in a much higher-quality and performance system than we had before. His video-based consultation was terrific, and his straightforwardness on the proposed approach gave me great confidence to go with him a few days later. And the work was done exactly as expected, with really terrific customer service/interface throughout the way. Tim and his team are our new go-to for all plumbing needs!

Tim came out to install a new shut-off valve for the house, as the old one seemed not to completely shut off water to the house. He also installed new valves to the washing machine hook-up in the wall. He was very competent and did not leave a mess behind. When the washer valve leaked the next day, Tim came out early in the morning to fix the problem (it was a split in the old pipe, not in the new valve he had installed). He did this repair while only cutting one small square of drywall to get to the pipe. I am very happy with his work and will probably use Tim for future jobs in the house.

We had a number of punch list items and concerns after just buying our house and the staff at Tim Whistler that came out, first for diagnosis/evaluation, and second to resolve the problems, were awesome. After dealing with a shady plumbing company, they rescoped my sewer line and after pointing out the flawed methodology (putting it kindly) of the other scope job, literally saved me digging up my entire basement! I am so grateful for their professionalism in following up after that other company. They also fixed the gas line to our cooktop, installed two new sinks (after a shoddy remodeler did a poor install), and installed a hose bib so we could have a spigot in the back of our house.

This company and its staff are super accommodating, professional, and most importantly, do great work. I highly, highly recommend them and will be returning to them for any and all future plumbing needs.

We've worked with the team at Tim Whistler for various plumbing issues that have come up in our home and have always been satisfied with the quality of work, the responsiveness of the team, and the fair pricing for services. Each person that has come out to our home has been friendly, professional, and committed to fixing whatever plumbing emergency we've found ourselves in.

Tim just fixed my toilet and appears to be working fine.  In my mind, it was a tricky job.  It was making a funky sound every hour or so.  He was able to diagnose the problem, had the parts on his truck to fix it.  Figured out what was causing it... also fixed that.  I felt his work was top quality.  He did not try to do more work than was necessary, it was a fairly simple fix, once he figured out the cause of the issue.

My guess is that other plumbers may not have been able to quickly sort out the cause of the problem.   The final, total cost was not cheap... but nothing is these days and it accounts for his drive time and parts, so I felt it was a very fair price.  As they say, you get what you pay for.

Will call him again in the future if we have other issues.  And will change my rating if this fix does not work... but as of now, very happy with the quality of his work and the overall communication his company provides.

Highly recommend.

I honestly can't say enough positive things about the work Tim and his colleague Frank performed within our condo. What was supposed to be a relatively simple patching of a leaky pipe and a hot water heater replacement became a job which took hours longer than expected, required them to run all over the DMV for additional parts and contorting themselves within our maintenance closet in a way which couldn't have been comfortable. Though it all they were lighthearted, jovial, quick to explain the issues, while pointing out solutions and potential consequences of those decisions.

If you are looking for a plumber who will be respectful, professional, knowledgeable, and does all this for a more than reasonable rate, your search needs to go no further. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish they offered more services than just plumbing and gas fitting. We could seriously use a general contractor who was a professional as Tim and Frank!

Repairman was right on time, with mask, immediately got to work diagnosing  what needed to be done to get the gas fireplace working once again after a 5 year down time.  Work accomplished, he patiently walked me through the hand held remote unit.  This was a eureka moment, for I had not been able to manage the unit before.  His instructions were clear, and I felt very comfortable in working the unit my self.

Every good thing I read about Tim Whistler Plumbing was absolutely true. I had a plumbing issue I have been trying to get fixed since last fall. I dealt with a couple other plumbers, who never came with all the tools the need or had some other reason why they couldn't finish the work. However, the moment I reached out to Tim Whistler Plumbing all that came back was professionalism and competence. Maria is very nice and was quick to respond to all my messages. I sent them pictures of the pipes that needed repairs and Tim quickly sent back his recommendation with a price estimate and an estimate how how long the work would take. Ben was the technician who came out to do the work and it was immediately obvious that he knew what he was doing. He did an excellent work, finished the job well under the estimated time, and did not leave a mess. I will only hire Tim Whistler Plumbing from now on.

Had an unpleasant experience with the business on the day the plumber was scheduled to come out.

We got quotes from the company for snaking a clogged kitchen sink. I specifically asked if the price of 225 to 250 was all inclusive. Sometimes plumbers charge random fees to jack up the price of the job so I wanted to make sure $250 was the maximum as long as all I need is fixing the clogged sink. Maria told me over written message yes as long as it is just snaking a sink then that is the full price. If it was a different job when the plumber arrived price would be different. I thought communication via yelp message was clear and easy.

Then the plumber arrived at scheduled time. And before ever touching our sink, (he only looked at it and heard our description of the clogged kitchen sink),he tried to charge $250 an hour and then extra thereon. When I told him the quote I got, he said he needs to talk to the person who quoted me. Then he went to get his equipment supposedly.

Then Maria called us and said I'm sorry it's going to cost $350. And the tone was basically take it or leave it. I was shocked because I was upfront with the problem and asking that there wouldn't be added cost. The job was not different and eventually we got an answer that the $100 extra was because we live in a condo and the guy has to walk back and forth a bit more... walking around costs $100 dollars???? It felt like price gouging especially when we had an agreement. They tried to say they didn't realize it was a building when we asked for the quote but we gave them the full address with apartment number in advance to come out and they didn't tell us a different price at that point?  And if it is something that matters that much to them, they should know to ask beforehand!

We wouldn't have scheduled them if they said $350 in the first place. Plus the change on their part was just unpleasant. Ended up telling them no thanks but it was such an unnecessary waste of time and energy for both parties.

We've used Tim Whistler primarily for a gas fireplace, but also for plumbing. I have found them to be timely, professional, and very reasonably priced for the service they provide.  It's a small operation, so you may have to wait a little bit for them to be able to make it out to you, but I have no complaints about the times we have used them.

This is our go-to plumber. Have used them for numerous jobs and each time the job was high quality and at a very fair price. They will only recommend what they think you need and all team members we've come in contact with have been friendly and respectful. They also stand by their warranties. When the pandemic started our toilets got exponentially more use. We called to get a leaky one repaired. I forgot that less than a year earlier we had a repair to the same toilet. When I expected to pay, the team member scrolled through my history and said, oh, wait you owe nothing. This is on warranty.

It isn't often that you feel absolute joy after a visit from a service company. Yesterday, after Mike from Tim Whistler Plumbing and Gas was done with servicing our fireplace, I ran to my hubby and hugged the life out of him for finding these people. Mike arrived early and very quickly determined the issue with our fireplace. He gave us an accurate estimate of the repair cost and at the end there were no unwelcome extra charges. What Mike quoted was what we paid! He took the time to explain our inherited fireplace to us and to show us its safety features. He then demonstrated the proper operation of it and made sure we both understood how to safely use our fireplace. Mike also revamped the entire set up, replacing exhausted elements until it looked brand new. He was polite, friendly and exceedingly patient with our many questions. I look forward to using them in the future!

*update* After seeing my review, Tim followed up with me. He came back to give my basement another look and his assessment was that it is probably a ground water leak, not a plumbing leak. I am bumping my review to 4 stars for his willingness to try to improve my impression of his company and for his willingness to explain his assessment. I appreciate the effort; however, I still can't give them 5 stars because of the frustrating first experience.
---------------------------------------------

They responded quickly, but when they arrived they couldn't find the source of the leak. I have a recurring wet spot on my basement floor that is at the base of the wall. The plumber said he couldn't figure out where it was coming from but he had to charge me a $125 fee for showing up. I asked him to cut into the wall and look for pipes so he cut a 6in by 6in hole and said he couldn't see anything. Not sure what I am supposed to do, but my problem was not solved by these guys.

The team at Tim Whistler plumbing is cost-conscious, easy to work with, responsive, and they do what it takes to make the job right. We've had needs ranging from clogged sinks, improperly installed dishwashers (by the delivery co to be clear), to more serious issues like pipes that needed jetting (sort of like a power wash for your slow-running drains).

The team is great to work with and has never met a challenge in our houses they could not tackle. We really appreciate the work they do, and recommend them to anyone needing plumbing services. Contact them today.

Would give more stars if I could.  Tim provides outstanding service.  Called him based on great reviews and I concur.  I needed a gas fireplace repair and a water heater replacement estimate. Called on a Thursday and made an appointment for the next Monday.  Tim kept me posted on exactly when he would arrive during the 2 hour window he promised.  He evaluated the fireplace and did a major repair on the spot -- staying well past working hours to finish it. He is super knowledgeable and professional.  He gave us options on replacing the water heater and we will not hesitate to call him to do the work. His prices seem reasonable.

Updating my review.
Tim, the owner, reached out to me and provided a full refund, which was very unexpected since most companies would just apologize at most. I'm giving Tim Whistler a five star for a pleasant, unusual gesture.

A $225 charge and the technician still wasn't able to find the source of the leak. He told me that it's most likely from a basement drain backup so keep an eye on the drain. The leak still occurs even without a backup in the drain. I understand that sometimes it's difficult to find the source of a problem but $225 is steep for not having your problem solved or even know where the problem is.

Watch your pocketbook!  They quoted me $800 to install a dishwasher.  Home Depot charges $200.
I also asked them to fix a faucet or replace it with one I had already bought.  They assured me that the old one was fine.  After charging me, they told me the handle is hard to move, is heavily corroded, and should be replaced.  Knowing that, I never would have agreed to them fixing it.  They did remove the faucet charge after I complained but did not install the new faucet.

Easily one of the more professional, responsive, and communicative businesses we've ever had the pleasure of working with.

We booked our appointment via email and text and received prompt notification of when someone was dispatched and when they were expected to arrive.

Rob was professional, got the work done quickly and efficiently, and was respective of my time (I was working from home and had to take calls as he was finishing up).

They were even eco-friendly enough to offer to email us a receipt.

We wish every interaction with local businesses was this easy and professional. We would work with Tim's crew again without hesitation.

I have been impressed multiple times w Tim and his team. From the coordination and scheduling w Maria to the hands on work by Tim, Frank and Rob, this company has done nothing but impress us. The timing of their appointments, although challenging w the frigid weather and high winds this winter, was second to none. I needed Tim for a job on late Sunday evening, and he came first thing Monday morning. Again very impressive. I hired this crew for three jobs at my house, all encounters were absolutely professional, thorough, and fair. I highly encourage others to consider this locally based company for plumbing needs. If this yelp saves someone from becoming a sucker like myself, I would have done my part.

We were away for 1 week. Upon returning we discovered gas smell in the house, called the gas company and the gas was shut down.
I called my plumber but was advised that it would take a couple of weeks before he could come. Facing the prospect of cold showers for two weeks I started googling for alternatives. That is how I found Tim Whistler.

I contacted Tim because he had several high-rated yelps. I was told they could come in 1 week. I sent pictures with the location of the pinhole leak and was given $250 estimate.

One week later, the plumber from Tim's shop came to our house. He took a quick look and informed my wife that it would cost $900 to fix! Granted, $250 was an estimate... but a 3-fold under-estimation was a shock. Furthermore, the plumber informed my wife that he would have to come another day because the job required 2 plumbers and a special tool. In addition, we had to pay another $125 for the pleasure of the visit. My wife, reluctantly, paid the $125 and the plumber left.

I had it. I had made up my mind, I would have to wait 2 more weeks for my plumber. There was no way I would pay $1025. But something happened. A few minutes later, the plumber returned the check to my wife. Tim called me, apologized and assured me that he, PERSONALLY, would fix the problem the next day. I stupidly accepted.

The next day, the same plumber, not Tim, came back by himself, even though he had said he needed 2 people for the job. I was not there or else I would have sent him packing. My wife let him in. I called Tim right away. He apologizes again: he was not able to come because he is fixing a gas leak somewhere else (hello, I had a leak too????) and the plumber is already working in my house. I was furious.

It took the plumber just over an hour to fix the minor leak. And the second plumber arrives 40 minutes into the project.

What a sucker. I paid $900 for a little more than an hour job. And in the end Tim, the owner, never came to fix the problem as he had promised.

I am still recovering from the financial loss and trampling of my dignity.

I have had problems off and on with my main sewer line for years.  Recently it was found some company had negligently left a plumbers snake in the main line sometime when I had it cleared out.  While getting this dug out and fixed WAS expensive, the amount charged by Tim Whistler was cheaper than any other estimate for excellent quality work.  The work was well done, explained to me every step of the way, and accomplished in two days.  They were even sensitive to the risks of working in the time of the pandemic.  They took pictures and created notes that would be helpful to see about insurance covering some part of the work.  All in all, made an distressing repair as reasonable and understandable as possible.  Would recommend to anyone.

Our Hot Water Heater was towards the end of its life. My spouse and I decided to replace it before it became a significant problem. Tim Whistler set up a virtual consultation to review the work ahead of time and provide an accurate quote during the COVID-crisis. Tim's actually here right now, but I'm so pumped about how things have gone so far that I'm reviewing early. If I don't update, you can assume everything went swimmingly! We needed our new gas dryer hooked up and our old one disconnected. Yesterday I called about 8 well-reviewed plumbers in the area, got the lowest price from Tim (by a range of about $50 to almost $150), and given all his 5-star reviews, it was an easy decision.

Then, while most had said they couldn't come for anywhere from a week to a few weeks, Tim was super accommodating and able to squeeze me in the next day, today, because I'm home sick (boo sick, yay dryer!). He arrived, checked out the dryer hook-ups, confirmed he could do exactly the quoted price, and got on it. Couldn't ask for more.

Super friendly and knowledgeable in fixing a leak in the drain of my garbage disposal. Helped walk me through what was wrong if it ever happened again so I could do it myself, and seemed really transparent about what did or didn't need to be done. Would definitely call again.

Tim Whistler was super responsive and had an appointment for me when I was free.  They called en route to te me they were coming and they were on time.  The job was done quickly and neatly and the plumber they sent was very professional.  Nothing but praise from me, and this was my first experience with them.  I will use them again!

Henry kept me informed through texts of his progress to my home and arrived on time. Very friendly, polite, and professional.  Fixed our issue quickly but took the time to educate me on the problem, explain what he had done, and things we should consider for the future.  Henry even went down into our crawl space to make an educated price estimate for future work we may eventually want to get done.  Final charge for work today ended up being slightly LESS than initial estimated price given via Yelp and he did a great job of cleaning up the work area.  This was our first plumbing issue since moving to Rockville a year ago and TW will be our go to company for the future.

We had to redo all of the pipes in our condo and request three quotes from different companies. Tim Whistler had the best price, as well as the best warranty (2 years vs. 1 year). We saw all of the amazing reviews and we had a similar experience - excellent from start to finish.
- The tech that came to give the estimate was prompt, friendly, and polite.
- We received the quote within the timeframe they promised to send it.
- We had to reschedule due to COVID and they worked very quickly to get the workers scheduled on other jobs so we wouldn't have to pay extra for lost time/labor.
- The workers showed up at the beginning of the promised timeframe each day
- They send text updates to remind you about the upcoming service the following day as well as notifications when the technician is on their way.
- We had three guys working in our place the entire time and they were all friendly, conscientious, and extremely capable.
- They found an additional issue with part of the PVC piping that was not included in the original quote. We appreciated that they were up front about providing the pricing and getting our approval before doing anything extra.
- They scheduled our WSSC inspection for us, so we just had to let the inspector in and walk through with him for ~10 minutes. The inspector was very complimentary and said, They did really good work as he was finishing up his inspection.

TL;DR: Great service, great pricing, and 100% recommended!

Very disappointed. I liked the service initially, but then the technician was late - outside the 2 hour appointment window. Then he got lost - Tim took down the wrong address when I spoke to him. He arrived 5 minutes before my hard stop and parked so that he completely blocked my driveway... and had to move. Leaving 2 minutes before I needed to get to a meeting with my company CEO. I started the technician out with a partial walkthrough, but had to stop and lead the technician out because I was out of time. Then I got the bill for the visit... full price. I emailed the office to ask why they were charging for the visit and I got no response. That was amazing when these issues are due to Tim Whistler.

I recently installed a gas lamp post outside my home, but I wasn't confident in my ability to connect the last and final part which was of course the existing subterranean unmetered gas line directly to the actual lamp.  I had accidentally struck this gas line a number of years ago while working on the yard, which was a big ordeal--but was a welcome surprise, but kind of rattled me enough to not want to play with gas again. So, after spending much of the day digging out the lamp post hole, then assembling the post and setting it in concrete etc... I was feeling rather inpatient about finally getting to see the fruits of my labor with a blazing beautifully lit lamp. Frustrated, at about 10pm on the weekend, I was trolling through Yelp looking for a reputable plumber to come out ASAP and connect the line.  That's when I found Tim. His Yelp page stated that he will respond to you promptly when messaged through Yelp--so I sent him a message about my gassy problem. At around 11pm, I received a notification from Yelp that Tim sent me a response! What?! Really? Unreal right? Tim is obviously up to snuff on the technology aspect of this business--what a relief.  He even accepted cards (but checks/cash is preferred because he isn't charged a fee).

After sending him photos of the lamp and gas line connections via Yelp, we agreed on a time when he can come out.  He arrived the next day, on time and with a pleasant attitude.  Long story short, he found that my gas lamp was a little unusual and required an adapter that had to be special ordered in order to properly connect the gas lines (thank God I didn't decide to do it myself!) A week later, my lamp was working, and my curb appeal just went through the roof...Tim saved my hide, but I'm still going to take all the credit when people ask  about the lamp. Thanks again.

I discovered a leaking kitchen cold water shutoff valve after returning from a trip and turned the water back on. I called the company I used before but they can only come late next week. Found several highly rated companies on Yelp and luckily one of Tim's trucks came over in the same afternoon and replaced the valve very quickly. The serviceman is polite, knowledgeable, work neatly, and followed Covid safety guideline. The charge is not the lowest but reasonable. I would certainly put them on the top of my list for my next plumbing job.

I called Tim Whistler plumbing for a quote to replace a 30 year old gas water heater on a home I just purchased. It was easy to schedule and Rob came to give me a quote. He was very professional and helpful and their quote was very competitive. I got a good feeling from them and decided to schedule the install.

Ben and Mike arrived on time to install the gas water heater. It wasn't an easy job because nothing was to code (since the water heater was so old) and they had to replace several pipes. They did an outstanding job. Hot water heater has been working perfectly. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves.

I called to schedule another job which included moving the washing machine hook-ups 15 feet, installing 2 toilets, and getting out a nasty clog. Luckily, Ben and Mike came again. They arrived right on time and all tasks where done properly and of high quality. They left no mess at all and I was very impressed again.

Communication is outstanding. Maria is always available to answer questions and schedule at a time that works for me. She always responds promptly.

Ben is extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions for numerous plumbing issues. The work was of exceptional quality and worth the money. If you want a high quality job without having to worry about subcontractors or poor work, I would highly recommend these guys! Thanks!

For the first time in 15 years our basement flooded.  With the rains that come now, a deluge of 7 inches or more in a ver short time span-our basement couldn't handle that.  We discovered that our sump pump didn't work, not sure if it ever worked, but we never had flood until this past year.  We also noticed that we never or rarely had such intense rains in the past. It was obvious we had to get our sump pump replaced.  We spoke with other companies, got 3 quotes, and not only did Tim Whistle Plumbing asked all the right questions, they had the best price for what we needed.  If we had gone with another company, the sump pumps they suggested wouldn't have fit our pit and it would have been a bigger job than it needed to be, and probably a huger mess.
They are great.  Communicative, knowledgable and very professional.  Mike came, replaced the sump pump and back up battery, and left everything super clean.  Couldn't ask for anything better.
The next big rain storm came, and I heard the water running into the pit from our exterior drainage system.  Again, I haven't seen that in 15 years-but his time the pump was working, and there was no flooding anymore in the basement!!
From now on, we will use Tim Whistler for all our plumbing needs.
Thanks guys!! Great job!!

We called about a clogged toilet on a Friday. They came out to look at it same day. Said they couldn't actually do the work until Monday (unless we wanted to pay overtime) but it would be $500 to snake the drain. Fine. We waited until Monday. The guys worked for an hour, cleared the drain, asked me to pay $500, and then the toilet stopped flushing again. The crew came back inside and continued to work on it for another hour. Unsuccessful. They kept the $500 and suggested we wait another 3 days and then do some camera diagnostics to the tune of another $300-400... with no resolution in sight. No way.
Called another plumber and he was able to come over same day, snake the drain and clear it within an hour. We've had zero problems with it since. And it's our 1st floor bath which gets used multiple times a day.
Confused as to why this 5-star company couldn't fix the problem. We reached out to Tim who said his guys did $500 worth of work and refused to discount the service. Moving forward I suggest that Tim's team be clear about this when providing proposals- they expect to be paid in full whether the job gets done or not.

Not only did Tim substantially overcharge us for minimal plumbing work, but he actually broke our shower. We just used them for a second time. Why?  Because the first time, they were great, on time, competitively priced and worth a try based on ratings we read.  And we had them back because now we had first hand experience with a great local company.  Why roll the dice on a nationally franchises company when you can call Tim Whistler?  We had new sump pumps and backups put in.  Never cheap, but priced very fairly and to save us money,  when they realized they'd replaced one of our sump pumps about one year ago (we'd forgotten), they were completely upfront and told us we only needed one new pump because our other sump was new and high quality. Not that you ever want to need a plumber. But when you do, call them.

CAVEAT EMPTOR!   I hired Tim Whistler Plumbing based solely on the reviews here.  But anyone considering their services should absolutely, positively get an estimate before they start work because their rates are what I consider eye-popping.

I am like a lot of people - I wait to call a plumber until I have enough little plumbing jobs ready because I have always been charged a per hour rate and for the cost of parts.  But neither the customer service person nor the plumber told me that Tim Whistler Plumbing charges for each service provided, meaning a flat fee for each service to whatever individual sink, toilet, etc.  They charged me $650 for two hours of work - to clear the drain lines of three sinks and two toilets, and also replace an $8 part in a toilet.  I was told I was given a discount because I had multiple plumbing issues.  Let that sink in -- $650 for two hours of work was the discounted cost.

I called to object because Tim Whistler Plumbing did not tell me about their pricing scheme prior to completing the work (I mistakenly assumed reasonable time and parts rates).  They eventually refunded $200 so I paid $450 total.  I believe this was still far more than what others might charge for what I got.  The most troubling part of this ordeal was how practiced their response seemed when I informed them that they did not tell me their prices.  It struck me that the customer service person had heard it before.  She actually initially told me I got a good deal and that most plumbers now charge per service and not time.  But, after checking around, no one I asked (including realtors) had a plumber charge this way.  Perhaps she was mistaken.

I learned my lesson: always get an estimate.   I can't say Tim Whistler Plumbing is shady, but buyer beware.

I could just say ditto to the other 5 star reviews: excellent communication from Tim and from Maria, completely professional, Frank was on time on both occasions.  My shower was fixed properly (no more endless dripping!) less than a week from when I reached out on Yelp -- on time and exactly at the estimated cost.  (The plumber who fixed it prior didn't know how (old) American Standard plumbing works, and that merely replacing a washer was not going to last.  It didn't.  Frank knew right away what the issue was and why the prior repair had not fixed the problem.)

Thank you Frank, Maria and Tim from Time Whistler Plumbing.

I read the reviews for Tim Whistler Plumbing and I was impressed. 124- five star reviews is almost unheard of and I had a big problem. There was a leak in my basement and we didn't know where it was coming from. Frank came over and assessed the damage. A pipe was leaking on the main valve.
He came back a few days later and fixed it.

Then, low and behold the very next week my toilet broke. So, they came back and fixed it too. You have no idea what a pain it was not having a toilet on the first floor was .....I had to grab my puppy and head up two flights of steps, every time I had the to go. So, I had my stair master and weights. Lol. : )

It does take about a week to get an appointment.  It is not cheap, but the service is Golden. They do a great job and are very professional. They also start really early- I have had two 6 am appointments. I say that because it is great if you have to work.

I am sure my 41 year old house will have more plumbing issues and they are going to be my first call. Thanks Tim, Maria, and Frank.

I  recommend Tim Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting.
I've used him a few times now and without going into details on each of the individual job, here's how interactions with him have gone:

He does quality work at a reasonable price.
He is conscientious and always prompt.
He's straightforward with his advice on any work that is under consideration.
He's followed up when it was needed (and when he said he was going to).

That's been my interaction with him on EVERY job.
And that earns his 5 stars!

Disclaimer: all the work that he's done for me has been on the plumbing side, but when it comes time to switch to natural gas, I will definitely call him.

I'm very happy with the service I received. First, they offer early morning service and were extremely punctual. My appointment was at 6am, and promptly at 6am, there was a knock at my door. Next, not many companies seemed familiar with Geospring hot water heaters, but my guy seemed to have worked with them before. He quickly diagnosed it and showed me what was wrong with it. Then, they came in under the quoted price. They gave me an original estimate, and because he completed service faster than expected, I was charged accordingly. Even before they came out, communication was great. I prefer email and text, and received fairly quick responses. I plan on using them for my next job.

Rip off. Extremely disappointing. Way overpriced and left a huge mess. Not a professional company based on my experience. After spending many thousand dollars to have a water supply pipe replaced they wanted $700 for a small job that took less than an hour. I had the work done by a more reputable company for $140. Be sure to get competitive bids before hiring this company.

I emailed the office to ask why they were charging for the visit and I got no response. That was amazing when these issues are due to Tim Whistler.

I was shocked that Tim Whistle Co. Contacted on Saturday Morning to asked we would want an earlier appointment.  Our orginal appt was on a Monday. I was very impressed that actual owner came to complete the Fireplace inspection/cleaning/pilot ignition. He all the COVID Pandemic precautions such as mask/ gloves/ floor covering etc.  He explained everything from a distance and in writing. This was very efficient service,  very good customer service plus price was very reasonable. We will use again.

I had an unexpected CO2 issue that the fire department isolated to the water heater and ventilation. I decided to go local and having had a great experience with Tim a few years back, called them. Not only did Maria schedule my job within a few days, but Tim contacted me within an hour to ask for a video meeting/walkthrough of the heater and vents. The estimate was reasonable, the work was completed, and both Mike and Adrian were communicative and meticulous. I could not be more pleased. Appreciate the attention to detail, great communication, and overall quality work.

This is the second time we've used this company and both times they've been extremely easy to work with, flexible on scheduling, and have tried to save us money when another company might have upsold us.  Would absolutely recommend them to my friends and colleagues and will be my first choice in plumbing going forward.

Had a toilet problem suddenly pop up, as these things usually occur. Found the glowing reviews here on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Called and they were able to book me for the next morning. Technician (Mike) showed up on time and notifications of when he was arriving were great. Once here he was extremely friendly and after assessing the problem, fixed it and was in and out in under 2 hours despite having a skirted toilet. Prices seemed reasonable to me, though I don't have tons of comparable experience. Highly recommend this company for any plumbing needs you might have.

Have used them for two jobs now - replaced my boiler and two toilets. What makes them stand out is the speed of response, the ease of pricing negotiation (they have fixed prices and no surprises), and the professionalism and excellence of their work. Tried shopping around for both jobs and was blown away by the lack of response and / or professionalism of some of the others. And this too in the middle of COVID supply chain and manpower issues.

We noticed a stain in our drywall but couldn't find the leak. Reached out to Tim Whistler Plumbing and Tim was very responsive and helpful. We were able to schedule a member of his team, Mike, to come take a look within a day or two. Pricing was very fair and transparent, and Mike did an excellent job finding and fixing the problem quickly. He also fixed an unrelated issue and gave us two options at different price points. I appreciated that he didn't automatically push the more expensive fix.

Aside from a forgivable scheduling snafu, I had a really good experience with these guys. Frank got here as quick as he could and immediately set out to solve our problem (very slight leak from our toilet tank). I'm guessing a lot of plumbers would've only focused on the short-term and tried to sell me an expensive toilet. But instead, he thought about the best long-term solution for us, given that we also plan on doing some other repairs in our bathroom. He then cleaned and inspected our gas fireplace and taught me everything I need to know about it. Finally, he consulted on how best to improve the ducting for our dryer and basement bathroom fan, as well as some possible code violations lurking behind the walls.

My wife and I are pretty handy and we like fixing things on our own when possible. A lot of service contractors roll their eyes and condescend when homeowners ask only for advice instead of just paying them to do the work. It's refreshing to get someone who's actually encourages you get your hands dirty and even offers some friendly guidance. Frank is one of those guys. Will definitely use them again.

Clearly an EXPERT in his field.  Tim is the consummate professional and quickly was able to assess the key issues of my plumbing situation including code requirements.  He took his time to fully evaluate the project and thoughtfully consider the options.  No high-pressure salesmanship or excessive estimate.  Definitely a plumber you can rely on to do things right the first time.

Starting with an almost immediate response to an online request for service, my experience with Tim Whistler Plumbing was fantastic. A small problem -- leaking toilet -- with a presumed cause. I got a quote for that repair and was scheduled quickly. Mike arrived at the very beginning of the 2-hour window (!) and quickly concluded that the problem was probably much simpler than what we had assumed. He proposed a process of elimination approach, dealing with the simpler issue first and, if that didn't solve the problem, going on to deal with the other possibility. Mike was right -- the leak was fixed with his first diagnosis. And the charge was fair and reflected the reduced level of effort. I was impressed with Tim Whistler Plumbing the first time they did work in my house and that view has been reinforced.

The drain where my wash machine hose is inserted in the wall of my condo was clogged and not properly working during a rinse cycle, the overflow of water ran gushing down the wall and on to my floor! This serious issue happened on a Thursday night and Debbie at Tim Whistler Plumbing sent an expert, Mike Rodgers, out to my condo early the following Monday. Mike did a great job accessing the situation and taking time (3 visits that day) to resolve the issue by snaking the drain to see what cause the water to backup and overflow onto my floors. He even had his colleague to check the drain to ensure it worked properly. Plumber Mike R. stayed to ensure a full wash cycle completed without any issues. That was comforting! I highly recommend Tim Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting Service.  They care!

Our main water line had a leak which was seeping up through our driveway. They responded very quickly, gave us a very reasonable price, and Tim was very knowledgeable about what it would take to find the location underground, how much digging might be needed, etc.

They ended up having to dig 3 deep holes and pull through almost 100 feet of pipe in two segments.

We ran into a few complications with weather and the WSSC inspector being wrong, but they came out as many times as it took to ensure we were taken care of.

Our garbage disposal went out within days of them wrapping up the last job and they came out promptly and replaced it no time.

We had very damp walls on the moisture meter, and a dripping ceiling, after a repair for a burst pipe repair by a different company.  The pipes were actually not leaking, but were running in poor spots with condensation issues and with exposure to elements. We called this amazing company,  and the gentleman who came took extensive time for a very careful assessment, and found multiple issues, with condensation, with placement of the pipes relative to the outside, and explained the options for rerouting the pipes clearly.  What could have been a difficult nightmare job, was done perfectly, and with care.  Those walls have never been damp since and the work was clean, with respect for our home.  This is a great company, I will always call them.

Our experience with Tim Whistler Plumbing was wonderful from start to finish. We had lost hot water and Tim got on the phone with me to discuss my options. I discovered a leaking vacuum relief valve when I turned the water supply on to my hot water heater after returning from an extended vacation. I had no hot water and a leak in my utility closet.  It was the middle of the night so I left a phone message for Tim, followed by a text. I chose Tim based on his Yelp reviews.

To my great and pleasant surprise, Tim texted me at 6am to see if I was still having the problem and, if so, asking for some descriptive photos. Once he confirmed my problem still existed and exactly what it was he gave me a two-hour arrival window THAT MORNING. As time progressed he kept me updated, ultimately having one of his guys (Frank) arriving within the promised window.

Frank was ready with part in hand, grabbed a few tools from his truck and came into my home. I pointed him to the hot water heater and five minutes later (really) my problem was solved with a newly installed valve.

At first I was a little miffed at the $175 charge, but then I thought about the fact that my 'emergency' was handled quickly, with the right tools and part, with excellent communication, and by someone who knew exactly what he was doing.

I hope I never need a plumber again, but if I do, I'll be calling Tim!

We've been having problems with our gas fireplace insert - did some online research (including Yelp) and found Tim.  I sent an e-mail and he followed up very promptly and got us scheduled for an appointment (I was thrilled that they start as early as 6:00am).  Frank showed up right on time and was very professional, talking me through the things he was doing, what he found and what kinds of solutions he was going to try.  I'm happy to say that he got our system working as good as new (despite there not even being a plate there to tell what brand the unit was, let alone the model #) and made sure that everything was clean before he left.  I'd highly recommend these guys!

Yesterday morning as I was taking a shower when felt that the water is not hot. Went down to the basement only to find out that the water heater was leaking. Called Tim Whistler. Today, less than 24 hours after the problem, have the new water heater installed and took a hot shower again.
The crew came on time as promised and completed the removal and the installation of the new water heater in less than 3 hours. There were no hidden fees - the charge was exactly as it was quoted. Their system sends emails and text messages to show when the technician will arrive.
I will recommend this service.

Our gas water heater died overnight. It was over 15 years old but it's always a shock to realize you need to find a plumber and get him to come to your house in the middle of a lock down. We were fortunate to have used Tim Whistler's services before and called him early the next morning. By 8.30 a.m. he had started the work and by 2.00 p.m. we had a new water heater functioning and the old heater and various parts of what had been illegal connections (from a plumber we had used many years ago) taken away. Why was it urgent...we have a nurse in the house who works with COVID 19 patients and is usually meticulous about not bringing in any traces of the hospital to the house where she lives with aging parents. Her first stop is to remove her shoes outside the house, the second is to strip off all her clothes at the washing machine just inside the back door. Her third stop is a full shower. Thanks Tim, your speedy and clean work took us a step closer to avoiding the virus in this household. More than that he and his staff came with masks and gloves.

We recently bought an older home (52 years old) that had some plumbing and gas line issues. I emailed Tim, who responded via email about setting up a time to get a quote within the next day. Tim was on-time to give the quote, and carefully explained to us how each item in our home would be fixed, and the associated cost. Once we scheduled the work, Tim was once again on-time, and finished the work on schedule by the end of the day. Now, everything he fixed works great. My favorite fix is our gas fireplace, which he reconfigured so that it lights up immediately once you hit the button on the controller...very cool and a nice touch to our home. I highly recommend Tim to anyone in need of plumbing/gas line services, and will be contacting him again in the future when the time comes.

My kitchen sink suddenly developed some kind of clog. As usual with Yelp, asking for a quote from one company resulted in 5 or 6 plumbers responding.  Then I remembered I used Tim Whistler a few years ago and gave them a try. All the other plumbers were booked for days or weeks. Frank came over as scheduled to troubleshoot a leak.  He had to cut some drywall, but measured and was careful to minimize the amount.  After some good investigation he found the leak and capped the pipe.  It was at a joint behind our upstairs shower.  After buying a replacement shower valve Frank returned to install a new unit and everything is great!  We now need to fix the drywall and paint.  Tim's communication with us was great on the appointments and billing.  Frank did a great job for a fair price.  His experience was worth it!  Thanks

Great LOCAL plumbing company located in the Silver Spring area.

This plumbing company is locally owned and operated. I had Tim come by my home to replace my broken sump pump. Before performing the work, Tim came by my property to look at the sump pump without charge.
He discovered the sump pump was broken and needed replacement. He provided a reasonable quote when comparing to other plumbers. He was able to come by the SAME day to replace it and completed within 1 hour. He was very respectful and has several years of experience.

They accept cash and credit card as payment. For credit cards, any expense over $500 will have a surcharge. Any credit card charges below $500 will not be subject to surcharge. Please keep this in mind.

If you are looking for a plumber, definitely give Tim a try.

I had to replace my hot water heater and I reached out to Tim Whistler Plumbing for the job. I am really glad that I did! I inquired through yelp and received a response minutes later. From then on, Tim and Maria were amazing at communicating with me. I provided photos of my hot water heater and Tim provided an explanation of the work that needed to be done (and the parts that needed to be ordered). This was even before I had signed any paperwork which was even more awesome. Tim took the time to respond to all my questions and ensure that I understood all the work that would be done. Maria was also great at corresponding with me, figuring out a time that worked for me and the technicians, and helping me navigate the inspection process for our new heater. When there was a manufacturing problem, they were quick to send someone out to fix it and wanted to make sure that we were happy with the job that they did. In the process of replacing our hot water heater, we met Pete, Frank, Tim, and Ben. Each technician was really friendly and efficient. Working with Tim Whistler Plumbing reminded me of why I love working with small businesses: the attention to detail, quick responses, and consideration that is given to each job. Overall, I can't recommend Tim Whistler Plumbing enough.

I wanted to update my review to say we used Tim again for some plumbing work resulting from a house inspection and our experience was the same excellent standard, even from a different employee.  Scheduled for next day, arrived on time, all done in an hour and invoice and receipt emailed.  Completely fantastic, and I wish I could use him after we move (to Texas!)

I contacted Tim Whistler via Yelp on Dec 16th for a water heater installation. He was prompt in his responses and came out 5 days later to check out the unit and prepare an estimate and today, Dec 28th, his team arrived on time to install the new unit. We are happy with the service received and highly recommend this company.

Special shoutout to Henry and Chris who were great in answering all our questions and respectful of our home.

I've used Tim Whistler Plumbing twice now. So far so good: fixed the problem, on time, communicative, reasonable prices. Very happy and I will continue to use them.

One thing I am on the fence about: I did ask for a quote to fix a leaky tub faucet and they recommended a bigger job than what I was thinking was necessary. However, I did not think their recommendation was totally irrational. They recommended that I replace some parts beyond the one or two that are the immediate issue. That made sense to me. My biggest bone of contention was that even though I have an access panel that goes behind the plumbing work, they wanted to do something that would require breaking some of the front wall (and thus require some structural cosmetic repair). That is where a large chunk of the estimate cost came from. So while I was convinced that it would be a good idea for me to replace more of the piping than what I was intending, I'm not completely convinced that their method of reaching the piping is required. That said, for the jobs I HAVE hired them for, they've done very good work and I feel safe calling them and hiring them.

I contacted Tim based on the reviews on Yelp. My elderly mom needed an extensive amount of work done in the bathroom and kitchen. Like many older people, she gets a bit paranoid and anxious having workers in the house, but we both felt very comfortable with Tim (and his employee, Frank) from our first communication. They were timely and communicative, through e-mail, text, and phone. The home is older and the plumbing had been neglected for many years and although they found additional items that needed repair/replaced, I never felt as though they were being dishonest in their assessment. In fact, I appreciated their expertise and was grateful they brought the much needed repairs to my attention. I will only use Tim and Frank in the future for any plumbing needs.

Love these guys - they're my go to in the Silver Spring area (near family home) - they show up on time, give you an estimate that's very accurate, and clean up after themselves. What more could you want in a plumber?  They text you when they're on the way.  And they're certified in plumbing? (Maybe wrong terminology?  I needed a new gas stove installed, and found my prior contractor, who did have a contractor's license, wasn't certified in plumbing.)  One small nit - they did put in that new gas stove (which requires turning off the gas), and forgot to relight the pilot on the hot water heater.  But came back immediately the next day with apologies.  Overall, love them!

Tim Whistler has been my Go To plumbing company since Sep 2017.  They have replaced showers, fixed leaks, ghost flushing, ice maker box to name a few  , basically all our plumbing needs in the past 3 years.
They respond very quick. Show up on time. Very courteous and professional. They take pride in their work and invest in their reputation.
Their work is through, diligent and detailed and so far we had zero issues after they completed a project .
Today we installed a pedestal sink. Showed up on time , wore mask the entire time and did an outstanding job and left the place clean and took out all trash .

I spoke to several plumbing companies to discuss pros and cons to different types of water heaters to replace my old one and of course get quotes. Tim Whistler was very up front and knowledgeable about the options, considering the space and how much hot water we use. He also gave us the best pricing and was able to schedule someone to come out when we needed them. On top of that, when we discovered an old open line that ended behind a wall in my garage, the plumber capped it off for me and removed some old pipe that was no longer being utilized. A+ service, friendly staff and great value. Look no further!

Did a little research on line as to why my Hot Water tank breaker kept kicking off.  Realizing that I had a potential fire risk. My plumber that I had used for years retired, I started looking on YELP and reading reviews.       I called Tim and within in the hour Frank was in my home diagnosed the problem and gave me my options.  I chose the repair.  Frank went out to the truck and brought the parts needed to repair the hot water tank.  In and out and repairs completed in less than 2 hours from my original call to Tim.   Reasonable price and I would absolutely use again. I highly recommend Whistler Plumbing for boiler work.
First - this is the ONLY plumbing company I contacted that didn't immediately want to sell me a new boiler. The first question was why do you think you need to replace your boiler?  My boiler was over 50 years old and previous plumbers had told me it was time to replace it. I agreed to have an inspection and evaluation -- this was done by Frank (their boiler expert), I was happy to hear that my boiler could last many more years! He did identify some safety concerns that a previous service company created by not understanding how an old boiler worked.
Second - The Service was fast, competent, and neat. Frank came back to correct the safety issues and did an overall boiler service where all components were checked. This left me with the confidence that my boiler was now safe and working well.  He also was able to give me a lot of info on boilers and maintenance I should be doing.
Third -- The overall cost was fair.I am no expert on how much service should cost but I was happy I didn't have to buy a new boiler and feel what I spent was worth the peace of mind.
Thank you to the team at Whistler for a job well done!

I have used Tim Whistler Plumbing several times since moving to Silver Spring a year ago. They do excellent work, with all costs made very clear up front. They are a little expensive, but look for the least expensive solutions to your particular problems, and I am happy to pay for quality work. OUTSTANDING! I had a kitchen leak that destroyed the downstairs bathroom, hired a highly rated handyman, and the leak started again 2 days later and was worse. Learned my lesson and called licensed plumbers but everyone reputable was booked up for 1-2 weeks, even for emergencies.

I lucked out partly with Tim Whistler Plumbing because my house is near them, but still they went above and beyond and added me to their schedule right away. Also, I was not at the house (a tenant was there) but everything was handled easily by phone.

Also, they've got a great system set up for communication. Automatic texts keeping you up to date on arrival time and online billing.

This was an easy job, but it needed to be fixed quickly. I highly recommend and will be using Tim Whistler for any future repairs or projects.

We found out about Tim through our neighborhood listserv. Frank showed up on time, snaked one new bathroom drain and one old bathroom drain, and successfully unclogged the older drain that that we thought had no chance of ever being unclogged. Our 100 year old drain is still solid. I can't say the same about our 1-month old drain.

We will definitely be using Tim and his team again and will be highly recommending them to all our neighbors. These guys know their plumbing!

I love Tim Whistler Plumbing. Here is how I would sum them up: expertise, integrity, caring. Every single job they have done in my home -- from replacing my water heater after the last one blew up, to replacing supply lines and ball valves -- they have carried out with expertise, got it right the first time. This has been true with every single plumber they have sent to my house, not just Tim. Integrity means they are always ready to answer my questions (and I am not a plumber!) in terms I can understand. When a job could be discounted due to multiple projects on the same material, they have volunteered an appropriate discount.  The caring shows up in the way the plumbers treat my family when they are in my house, and the response I get from the office which is speedy and thoughtful, never disrespectful. I have called them with an emergency (when the hot water heater exploded) and they coached me what to do and had someone out fast. I have become a loyal customer because I know they are keeping me and my family in mind every step of the way.

A previous, well-reviewed plumber said that my entire bathroom faucet would have to be replaced because Delta fixtures come all-in-one and individual parts can't be replaced. Tim said that this wasn't true. We contacted Delta, sent them a photo of the problem, and Delta sent free replacement parts. Tim's man came and fixed the issue very quickly. I don't think being wrong is an unforgivable offense, but, had I gone by the previous plumber's recommendation, I'd have been out several hundred dollars more than what I paid Mr Whistler. I'm glad I came across him on yelp. Everything was completed as promised, relatively quickly and there were no surprise costs. I highly recommend this plumber

We just moved to the area and are first time home owners. We've now used Tim Whistler twice and both experiences have been great. We first had a plumbing backup in our basement that was causing dirt and such to rise from our basement shower drain. Tim Whistler quickly responded, explained to us what they'd recommend doing, and even advised against spending extra money until they'd taken a look. More recently we got hit with a hefty water bill and came to find out we had 3 of 4 toilets leaking. Tim whistler got us on the calendar as quickly as possible and have fixed each of our toilets and helped us through speaking with the water company to get a one time credit. Could not recommend them more!

We had quite a few punchlist items after moving into our new house in AU Park a couple months ago.  They sent a fellow over who fixed a few things and gave us an estimate on the bigger projects.  Then a couple of guys came back to do the two bigger ones: an install of an all-house water filtration system and the install of a new toilet.  The new toilet installed by the younger guy, Mike R., looked & worked great.  The two guys did the water filtration system together.  The next morning I noticed that there was slight leakage from the connections in the system.  I called them and they got Mike R. back out that same day and he basically re-did the entire project.  Now it seems well sealed.  He was also great at explaining what he was doing and giving some general guidance for ongoing care.  I also appreciated how great they are at communicating with customers.  But obviously with the need to bring them back the second day, I didn't feel like 5 stars was warranted.  Otherwise I would recommend.

Tim is great on communication and setting up an appointment. Most five star folks here on Yelp will sometimes tell you they're too busy but not Tim. Had a 15-year old state industries water heater break from normal wear and tear the Friday after thanksgiving, and Tim was one of the only vendors who responded immediately over the weekend.  Within 12 hours we had a detailed quote and virtual tour completed, and a day later we chose him over three other vendors despite the prices being slightly higher.  They steered us toward a higher quality Bradford white unit which was clearly superior to run of the mill Home Depot products, and much needed in our area where sediment buildup is significant.  Installation was smooth but plumber discovered a very hard to find leak in the process.  Tim came back personally to find the source of the leak, repair it, and take care of the permitting for the water heater the same day.  Detailed and professional, and his personal touch took this experience from 4 stars to 5.  Highly recommend!

Really great work and came in more affordable than other estimate I received! I needed help with getting a gas dryer installed - specifically adding extensions to an existing gas line and the hook up. The installation company, allegedly a licensed plumber, sent by the big box appliance store not  only quoted me an extremely high quote for the job but mentioned what turned out to be unnecessary work. Working with Tim Whistler Plumbing was super easy. I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. I received updates via text message  leading up to the appointment.  Their staff showed up on time and finished the project very quickly. I would definitely use them again if I need plumbing or gas fitting help in the future!

Tim Whistler (and Maria) are as good as it gets when it comes to service.  I called to request help with my newly installed gas fireplace.  Maria was responsive and kind, and promised to convey my questions to Tim.  Within a few hours, I got a call back and Tim offered to try to help me  over the phone without making an on-site service  call which would have cost me. I wasn't at home but later when I attempted to follow his verbal instructions, I was unsuccessful.  The next morning I called and Tim helped me again!  This time with success.  This is an honest company who is not out to make a quick buck or make money on naive homeowners.  I recommend tim for all your plumbing and gas fireplace needs!!!!, you won't be sorry!

We had a tough clog and are new to the area, so we looked to yelp for help.  We saw TWP's reviews and gave them a try.  Maria was great in scheduling our appointment same day, and the plumber came out within the window of time they told me they would.  Henry worked diligently to unclog the toilet, and when it seemed like he would need to get a bigger snake to unclog it, he got the clog! That saved us time and money, and he was relieved.  Thankfully the cost came in under estimate, and although it is still somewhat pricey, the reviews are true--you get what you pay for, and I believe they are skilled at what they do to justify the cost.  I recommend them and will use them in the future.

Originally, my husband and I had someone from a different company come check our water heater. They said we needed a bunch of things to bring it to code, and were going to charge us an amount that seemed exorbitant. We are no experts, so we wanted multiple opinions. In swoops Tim, our honest savior! I messaged him on Yelp and he was incredibly responsive--seriously, I was the one who took forever to respond!! We did a face time of our utility room and told us our water heater was due for an upgrade because of its age (17 years), and that the new water heaters would include the other parts the other company said we needed. He absolutely did NOT push us; he let us make our own decision. In fact, the new water heater was cheaper than what the other company was going to charge us for the other parts. We were able to get an appointment right away. Tim's guys were knowledgeable and professional. They were on time and did a great job. We are now up to code and our water gets super hot--just the way I like it!!

I contacted Tim Whistler for a second opinion after another plumber provided an estimate that made me uncomfortable. Our old house still had a cast iron toilet flange, and the other plumber wanted to put in a PVC flange for an outrageous price and told me he wasn't sure it would last a week or several years. Maria had me email photos, and within hours Tim provided an estimate via email to replace the flange with a new cast iron piece that would unquestionably last for many years to come. He was also willing to guarantee the work.

Frank came out to do the job. He was on time to the minute and completed the job for the estimated price. I've since had him back to replace our worn out 76-year-old main water line shut-off and a portion of corroded pipe. He completed the work for under the estimated cost.

For both jobs, Frank was diligent and down to earth. I consider myself fluent in basic household plumbing (I can replace a toilet, hook up a sink, and that sort of thing), and bounced a question about an unrelated valve issue off of him. He answered honestly and without any condescension, which I appreciated as a younger homeowner.

Plumbing work is never cheap, but I'm relieved to have found a plumber I can trust, especially for my older home.

What makes them stand out is the speed of response, the ease of pricing negotiation (they have fixed prices and no surprises), and the professionalism and excellence of their work. Wow! Thank you Tim Whistler Plumbing! I needed to replace my washing machine hoses, valves and kitchen faucet. When I requested a quote on their website, they got back to me within a few hours and after giving them more information, I was able to schedule time for them to come out. They were informative and helpful throughout the process. I received a text when the plumber was on the way. New customer. Reached out after one of those home care services scheduled me with a company that could not get to me until days later and when I checked on who that company had given me too, they were a 2 star overall with recent complaints. I searched yelp and checked for local plumbers and Tim Whistler Plumbing came up and had great review. Scheduling was easy, and their follow up was quick. They fit me in and kept me in the loop via text messages on the estimated times as to when they would arrive and included a pic so I'd know who was coming to my house. Very professional, courteous, and efficient work. Branded company trucks, and identification on the person who comes out. Unlike some where just a plain white van with a ladder on top might come out which to me means subcontractors! Clean work and although I needed a follow up everything was taken care of timely and in the same professional manner. They are a small business and they give you what you would expect which is great work and customer service. I use to work for a small business and you can tell they are a good team. I'd recommend them and use again if needed.

We had a major plumbing issue in our house. We've worked satisfactorily with Tim before and reached out to him for this project. Tim gave us an estimate that included ripping up our bathroom, floor and front yard. This seemed excessive, and we got another quote. This quote suggested only disturbing the yard and for several dollars less. Tim seemed to be over charging a huge amount and suggesting a bunch of unnecessary work. He also tried to pull a bait and switch on the concrete work. Overall, a very negative experience and revealed a lot as to how Tim does business.

They do charge slightly more than other plumbers, but they actually solve the problem, so I don't mind that. Additionally, like all plumbers, if they break into your drywall, you will need someone else to come patch it if you cannot do it yourself. Regardless, I highly recommend this company.

They were great and efficient. I had a leaky toilet and they came out and fixed it, and discovered something else was wrong and got that fixed as well. It put my mind at ease that they had the proper protocols in place to keep customers and themselves safe during the Covid crisis. I will definitely call them again as my other needs arise.

Matt and Frank, thank you so much for extending and fitting the gas line to our new gas stove in kitchen and for our future dryer in basement. You were amazingly efficient and safety first professionals. Also I want to thank Maria and Debbie for being well organized and responsive to all my concerns. Excellent service from beginning to end. I will call them again soon to replace our aging water tank.

Tim Whistler responded immediately to my request for a price quote. His team came to my house to do the work the next day. His team arrived at the scheduled time. They were very professional and very efficient, finishing three tasks within an hour and a half. The cost for the bundled services was very reasonable - probably the best I could've gotten if I'd checked dozens of other plumbing services - and the quality of the work was exceptional. Tim Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting is rated at the top of Yelp's table for a reason - unsurpassed value.

Tim rescued my basement from flooding by replacing a failing sump pump. He was efficient, tidy, fairly priced and seems like an all around nice guy. What more can you ask for? Thanks Tim & Team!

These folks are way overpriced.  I will not call them again.  Unfortunately, we needed hot water so we were stuck with them in the moment. We tried to discuss the over-billing with them via email-they never responded and laughed all the way to the bank. Call someone else.

I had a very smooth experience with Tim Whistler Plumbing. It was straightforward to make an appointment online and while they were a bit late from the scheduled time, the office was quick to let me know when I inquired. The guys that came (led by Ben R.) were very polite, knowledgeable and friendly, and walked me through what they saw as the issue at a depth that I was looking for. The provided estimate was prompt and detailed, and they followed up on my questions promptly, and with more detail. Ultimately I decided to do some of the work myself and not stress about another issue, but all of my experience with Tim Whistler Plumbing was very positive.

Tim and entire crew are the very best of the best and have been since we first used them.  Once again, in an emergency situation, Maria got us an appointment with Frank on short notice, which is typical of their concern for clients.
Frank arrived exactly as scheduled, went out of his way to address our gas leak, complete the repairs, reconnect our gas service in one appointment.
In addition, we completed a replacement of a bad part on another piece off equipment.
We have used Tim for several issues at our house and cannot imagine ever using anyone else!  One of the best things that ever happened was the day we read the other Yelp reviews for his company and had him visit us.  We have been fortunate to have them ever since and will never use anyone else!
Cannot recommend them highly enough.

This is a fine company to work with. Had an emergency pinhole leak.  When I called, Tim was at my door in 15 minutes. He was headed to another client, and after checking if it was ok to be later, the other customer graciously agreed so Tim diverted to my house. While here he discovered an overflow chamber on our water heater was close to failing and leaking. It was obvious and needed fixing. A minor repair saving a major mess from happening. So happy he saw it!
I felt prices were reasonable and work completed thoroughly. I love working with people that really have a passion and take pride in their work. This company definitely fits that profile. The whole operation seems to be very organized and well run. They have someone who answers the phone promptly and knows the business. I think they also have some apprentices too.

I called for 5 different repairs which they did a fantastic job on. They walked me through each item and told me the approximate cost and then alerted me if anything was going to be too high. In the end, they fixed absolutely everything and they were extremely professional.

Tim gave me an estimate via email after I sent photos of the repairs needed. Frank came out the next week for a 6 am appointment, which meant I didn't have to take time off work, and had everything done in under 2 hours, as expected. He evaluated everything and talked me through the good, the bad and the ugly, and provided estimates for future upgrades I may need. The final bill came in slightly lower than Tim's original estimate, which is always a pleasant surprise. Will definitely go back to these guys in the future.

Absolutely a great find! As a homeowner I need to know I have a good plumber  especially in an old house.
Tim came out and was very knowledgeable, professional and extremely competent.  He discussed all the work needed on this house and took time to parcel out what has to be done now and what can wait.
he cleared the kitchen drain, redid the trap etc. and he replaced two emergency gas shut offs.
Then his guys came the following week and put in my large pedestal sink. It was pristine after they left! They did a stunning job on the sink!

Tim Whistler will do everything in this house moving forward, they are the nicest, smartest and most competent people, and that's who I trust to give my money to and let in my home.
Thank you Tim and team...

We had a great experience with Tim  Whistler Plumbing when we had a backed up drain. Fast replies for scheduling over Yelp; professional and courteous plumber.  There will not be any hesitation to contact Tim Whistler Plumbing in the future.

I had a backed-up tub drain.  I called and they sent Rob over the next morning.  Unfortunately the problem was worse than originally thought.  I paid for that day (less than quoted because they were not able to complete the job). Rob immediately sent over a quote to replace the damaged pipe.  I called and asked if they could come out the next day and they moved their schedule to accommodate me.  They came out and replaced the pipe quickly. They discounted me what I paid the day before.  I will definitely use again.  Friendly, quick, and fair.

Tim, Maria, and Matt were very friendly and professional from start to finish for my water heater replacement.  They use Google Duo to do a survey of my place - a time saver on both sides- then giving me an estimate from there.  I had a bunch of questions for all of them, and all of them gave terrific responses.
