HISTORY

Established in 1960.
Our company was originally founded in the early 1960's by William Burton, known back then as William Burton Plumbing. Mr. Burton had a vision: to develop his company into a place where the customer could not only shop for the products they would like him to install, but could also get the professional help and information they needed if they wanted to do it themselves. That vision became a reality in 1975 when he opened the Burton's Plumbing & Heating office and Do It Yourself Center. At the time, this was a new concept. Since 1975, Burton's Plumbing & Heating has sold quality products to the community to help them fix their own problems, or dispatch knowledgeable technicians from the same location on Michigan Ave in the city of Wayne, Michigan. The business is now run by William's two sons, Curtis and Thomas. We still offer advice for the Do It Yourself-er and have become a household name when it comes to plumbing service as well as bathroom remodeling

Highly recommended. I was apprehensive when I called to schedule someone to come out because I was told up front $65 service call us $129 to look at the system and then I would be charged for the work. Sounds to me I'm paying almost $200 for the service call I was told that in a sense that was the case.
My mind immediately turned to almost 4 yrs ago, when I bought this house, and the boilers had been inspected for resale (I have 2) and within one week of moving in both boilers went out. Coincidence , is what I was told and almost $500 later I really wasn't told why I suddenly had heat but the problem was fixed.
Needless to say I did NOT call that company back. I called Burtons, albeit apprehensively.
They arrived promptly when scheduled and diagnosed the problem immediately and went right to showing my husband to not to make it happen again. (We had recently disconnected one of the radiators and upon reinstalling he overfilled the system)
They now not only have a very loyal customer but I will refer them every chance I get.
I seldom have the opportunity to post positive reviews but this is definitely one of those times.

Burton plumbing replaced my collapsed cast iron storm drain.

I had an issue with water pooling in the drain in the middle of my basement. When it rained and following wet weather, water instead of traveling through the storm drain would collect.

Burton Plumbing in one day broke the concrete of my basement floor, dug out the old cast iron drain, installed a new pvc drain, cleaned  my drain lines of possible tree roots, and poured new concrete. It was a massive job performed by up to five men over the course of the day. Over 90% of plumbers do not perform this type of work or they subcontract it out. Most plumbers simply clear hair clogs or install new pipes. Not Burton. Burton Plumbing is among the few local plumbers who can handle large jobs.

After receiving three quotes I choose to do business with Burton. By far they has the best rate and they did not try to scam me by offering needless services. A Plymouth firm wanted me to pay to have the drain snaked again and pay a couple of hundred for use of a camera. Water was not flowing down the storm drain. It does not take an advanced degree to know that there was a catastrophic issue and since the drain could not be snaked. There was no need for a camera inspection.

Following installation water was no longer collecting in my basement due to excessive hydrostatic pressure. My storm drain appeared to be working properly. I waited to post this review after a large rain storm. The next morning there was no water in my basement. I can finally sleep without worrying.

For people owning older houses with failing storm drains, I recommend Burton.

Called Burton's while in town helping a family member. Easy to schedule. They texted prior to arrival and within the agreed upon time slot. They arrived on time. Professional. Knowledgeable. Same prices that I would pay in my home state. No drama. Good work. Will be calling them again.

Never trust the call person you talk to to get an estimate. Because once the plumber comes out to your house I guarantee it will always be twice as much. Thank you for fixing the clog.

They get an A-  made the appointment Monday, scheduled it for Thursday. Got a call bright and early this morning(Thursday) asking if it was a good time for us. It was. Justin was cheerful and professional, explained the repair and completed it quickly. Will gladly use them again. Getting 5 stars isn't tough, just shocked how many repair companies fail on the basics. Do what you say your going to do, stay in communication with me if things change.  Be cheerful (act like you appreciate my business) and professional. I'm happy to recommend them and Justin. Would have been an A if you covered your shoes!

As a landlord, finding the right contractor and establishing a relationship is extremely important.  You never know when something is going to happen..... and at the end of September, we needed help. Fast.

We had granite installed in a bathroom at the end of September (please see my yelp review on Granite City, Inc), and since the valves were turned off for the first time (in YEARS), we had difficulty turning them back on.  So, I called around to get quotes to get them replaced.  In order to avoid issues for our tenants, we get issues resolved immediately- I knew we needed the valves replaced.  We called around for quotes and timing availability.  Burton's quoted $60 service call and then $75 for each valve replacement.  It seemed very high to us, but since we did not have time to do it ourselves, we asked to book the earliest appointment.  The lady on the phone informed me that I would need to call back in the next morning to see if they could get an appointment.  Personally, I thought that was not the best customer service..... but we needed it done, so I called again the next morning.  Fortunately, they were able to come out that afternoon.

I received a phone call from the guy when he was on his way, which was nice.  He did the work and went on his way.  About 30 minutes after he left, I got a panicked phone call from our tenant saying that the water would come out of the faucet where the valves that were just replaced.  Really? The guy just left. How could the water not come on?
I called the gentleman and left a vm letting him know the water wasn't coming out.  He made a return trip to finish the job.  It is disappointing that the valves were replaced and there was no check that water came out of the faucets.

When I originally booked the appointment, I told them the house was a rental and needed an invoice to be sent to me.... They said it would not be an issue. It has been a month and I still have not received the invoice even though my credit card was charged.

Very disappointed.

When I called, I was advised the service call was $67.00. I understand service calls. I took over my father's TV repair in the 1980's. At that time the standard service call was $50.00 from most tv shops and HIGHER, but my father and I charged $25.00.

The technician that came to my house was professional and made sure he covered his feet at my front door with booties. It was clear immediately what my issue was. I need a new sprayer nozzle. He was pretty sure he had them in his truck and went and got one.

He said this will be simple, service call and $1.00 for the new nozzle had me sign a tablet saying I was satisfied with his work and that is all it showed on the 3 items I signed. I was assuming from my own experience doing home service calls my bill was going to be 80-100.00.

About 20 mins after he left I got an email with a pdf file and the bill was $166.00!?!?!?!?

I wrote the company and said I NEVER expected the bill to be that outrageous and the response was

Mr. Catterall,
Thank you for your reaching out. We apologize if the pricing is more than you expected.
For clarification, you were charge the service call of 67.00 and the 99.00 was for the sprayer and installation making your total 166.00. If you have any other questions please contact me at the office. 734 722 4170

This is what separates superior customer service from sub-par customer service.  To say you understand Customer Service, the response should have been, We are sorry for the misunderstand, what do you think would be a fair fee that we both can be happy with?  That is Superior Customer Service.  Not what I got....

Let me give you an example of SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE that I enforced while at AT&T winning the prestigious MALCOLM BALDRIDGE AWARD for customer service.

Got a call from an elderly couple in Detroit asking for my father and they lived in a bad area of Detroit. They told me Only your father is the person who has worked on our TV for 40 years. I felt obligated to drive the long drive to their home. When I got there, they said they had grandchildren over for the weekend and tv quit working. Well apparently, the grandkids got behind the entertainment center and unplugged the tv.  I could have easily billed them a service call and charged them another $25-50 for power outage problems.  What I did is explain to them that the tv was just unplugged, plugged it back in, shook their hands and went home not taking a penny for my time, gas, etc....  THAT IS SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Burtons needs to learn the difference.....

We needed a plumber urgently and, because we had only recently moved to Canton, didn't know any in the area. Our neighbor recommended Burton's and we were able to get someone in that same day - and at the time they said they'd be there!

James was polite, professional and didn't do anything else other than what needed to be done. I also asked him to look at something else while he was at the house and he didn't charge for anything other than labor.

I would highly recommend Burton's to anyone in the western Wayne County area.

The repair man was in and out in 15 minutes.

Company used to be fair.

Very responsive, polite, and competent but $$$$.  $375 to replace a fill valve and a water shut off?  RUFKM?  Does not use a transparent pricing model since they won't quote a job until they arrive and after the trip charge is paid (which does not go towards the first hour).  Price compare elsewhere first.

Fantastic people! Burton's has been our go to plumber for 14+ years and will not hire anyone else. They remodeled our bathroom last year (down to the studs) and replaced ALL our plumbing.  Always satisfied with their work. Cannot recommend enough.

We had an emergency situation and a tech was able to come out the same day.  We were scheduled for a 1:00-5:00 times lot and they were even able to come out early.  Job was done quickly and the area was left clean!
