Fred & Son Plumbing

First, let me say recently i been having soon plumbing issues. it started last year with a emergency leak in my HVAC room (it did not have anything to do with the HVAC. There are pipes going through the room). I called Len the plumber, it costed over $600 to snake out 1 of the pipes. Then 6-8 months later the same thing happened, this time i called RotoRooter. They charged $800 for it. Then last month i needed to replace the faucets and repair the toilet in our main bathroom. I tried Len again, this time it was over $1000.
Well thanks to a recommendation from a parent at my son's school, i found out about Fred and Son. I had 1 more job that needed to be done, the replacing of the faucet and disposal in my kitchen. I sent them a email. Fred called me back 30 minutes later (a world record for plumbers), He told me he could get to me that day. I was suprised,  but i told him i was at work until the afternoon. Sure enough 30 minutes before i got home his son, Joey called me and said he would be there to do it. He came by, very nice young guy. He knew his stuff. He even showed me where the main cut off for the water to my condo was. He was quick, informative and very courtious. And best of all, their price was the lowest of the 2 Rip-off main companies. I will alway call Fred and Son from now on.

Toilet ran all over the floor.  Googled Yelp.  Found Frank.  Job done. Price reasonable.  Will call Frank the next time.  A happy customer.  Ann

My plumber for life.  Fred and Son Plumbing has been responsive, professional and a great value for outstanding, quality plumbing service to our family for years.  I wish I could give more than five stars.  With any visit whether emergency or routine, the service and responsiveness is always been top notch.

Fred answers his phone quick, shows up quick, gives you an upfront estimate and sticks to it. Tells you to do your own research so you know why he's recommending what he is. He was very helpful during early covid in snaking my drain, it was very problematic and definitely took longer than he thought, he stuck to his estimate and did was a big help! Used him again recently and am very happy.

Fred & Son definitely deserves a five star rating.  I've had him here twice to fix two separate problems.  Each time he quickly determined the issue, walked us through what it would take to fix the issue and promptly provided a quality fix.  Good & fair prices, prompt response time and great customer service.

Definitely would recommend Fred for any plumbing job.

Short and sweet: Fred has been my plumber for more than 10 years. Every good thing that is said about him in the other reviews is true. He is honest, supremely competent, respectful, and personable. If you hire him you will always be fully informed about the job he is doing and what the cost will be. It doesn't get any better!

I used the reviews here to make a call and ask for plumbing service. Three calls with voicemail each time, providing clear info on project, and call number, but they never called back.

Excellent. Fred came for clogged drain, and then patiently explained why the current plumbing configuration under our kitchen sink was poorly done, and would lead to problems with the drainage as well as the functioning of the garbage disposal. He snaked all relevant pipes, reconfigured the pipes under the kitchen sink, installed a new and smaller and much needed disposal, and everything runs better than ever. He is polite, patient, knowledgeable and neat. A true professional!

The best! Came out within an hour of my call (Michael and Sons, who I called before finding Fred on Yelp, said they could come by in four days from now, likely sensing that my leaky dishwasher wasn't an expensive enough emergency). Before he did the work he explained multiple options--a less expensive quick fix and and more expensive elaborate one).  Did the work beautifully. Price was super reasonable. He is the owner of the company and does his work with honesty and pride. Really terrific experience.

Have used them twice for clogs, new faucet, laundry sink.  Excellent work both times.

I had an issue with a leaky faucet and saw that Fred and Son had great reviews.  Called them up three different times and the answering machine picked up all three times.  I left them three messages to call me back and they didn't even bother contacting me.  I guess they don't want my business.  Poor customer service!!

Major leak in a copper pipe behind my refrigerator Friday night.  Called Fred on Saturday and got a call back within 15 minutes. He was on a call and said it was going to be 2-3 hours. Called before 2 hours to say he was in front of our house. He carefully explained everything that he needed to do and exactly what it would cost. He was masked and had shoe covers and we are very happy with his work. I highly recommend Fred. He is a wonderful plumber.

I hired Fred and Sons to install two toilets and replace a shut-off valve. I called on a Thursday and they arrived on-time the next day and completed the installation in 2 hours. Very thorough and Fred takes the time to explain any issues that arise.

I appreciated their speedy work and their prices are absolutely fair.

Just had Fred here for the second time in about 6 months.  Again, he diagnosed the problem quickly, explained what he needed to do, gave me a price before he started work, and covered the floors to prevent damaging them.  He worked quickly and cleaned everything up afterwards.  He also told me what to watch for in the future.  I will definitely use him again.

I needed a plumber to replace my outside faucet, so I consulted Yelp.  Fred & Son was so highly rated that I immediately called them.  I'm glad I did.  They got right back to me and  set up an appointment for the following Saturday morning. Fred himself showed up right on time, diagnosed the situation, explained the options, and provided costs for each one.  He patiently answered all my questions.  He was very careful about not tracking dirt into the house.  A very affable man, we discussed family, jobs, foreign politics, and other plumbing issues while he worked with precision and efficiency.  You can tell he's a real pro who has seen it all.   I'm convinced his price was more than fair, a lot lower than I'm sure one of the big plumbing companies would have charged.  I give Fred & Son my highest rating.  He didn't seem to be aware of his high Yelp ratings, so I couldn't resist showing them to him.

After being told by a franchise plumbing company that they would need to call me back to see if they had the parts needed to fix my toilet before telling me whether or not they could do the work today (we are talking about a flapper valve, handle, lever and new bolts to connect the tank to the toilet), I checked on Yelp and saw that Fred & Son Plumbing had a 5 star rating. And so, I hired Fred and am glad I did. When I called, he answered the phone and I told him what I needed for my broken toilet. No hesitation, he said he could do it, and would call me when he was done with the job he was on at the time. Less than 2 hours later, Fred called and said he was on his way. He and a helper had to cut through rusty bolts to be able to replace them. They also provided all new parts, upgrading from the old ballcock and ball float to the fill value style. All work was completed in less than an hour and Fred was very professional and friendly. His prices were very reasonable too. I'll certainly be calling him again if I have a need for a plumber.

Fred and Son Plumbing is excellent, based on my recent experience.  I had slow leaks of two plumbing items. The appointment was made quickly, they arrived on time, they took sanitary precautions, the price was reasonable, and they made repairs quickly and completely.

After recently moving to Rockville, we had a clog in our kitchen sink resulting in standing water. I found Fred and Son on Yelp and put a call in to them and another plumbing service that received five-star Yelp reviews.

Fred and Son called back within minutes and someone explained that Fred himself was out on a job, but would be available between 9 and 10 the next morning to come to our home. I never heard back from the other service I called, but Fred showed up right on time the next day. He covered his shoes to keep my home neat, then came in and listened to my explanation. He did a walk through of the home to see where all the plumbing was and explained to me what he thought the problem was (a clog deep in the line) and how much it would cost to fix. He quickly and cheerfully did the repair, pleasantly explaining to me what he was doing and why. He also gave me information about the plumbing in our neighborhood, where he works frequently.

When the repair was finished (48+ feet of plumber's snake down our very clogged line!) Fred showed me a part that was cracked under our sink and gave me a price to replace it with something that would work better. He did that quickly, and then the final bill was less than originally quoted as Fred gave a first-time customer discount.

Just over a week later, we noticed a leak in another part of the house. I contacted Fred and again he got back to me within minutes and came over the same day to diagnose the problem (a pinhole leak which would require a large section of aging pipe to be replaced) and give us an estimate. The following day was a Saturday, but when we called on Saturday morning and said we'd like to go ahead with the repair, Fred shocked us by telling us he was on a job but would be over as soon as he finished. He showed up with his helper Oscar at around 3pm and finished the job around 6 at the price quoted. He was polite, professional, and left our home neat and clean. The repair looks good, and while we are annoyed to have so many plumbing issues in our new (1950s-era) home, we're at least glad we have a reliable plumber!

I found myself in need of a plumber after I discovered a leaky kitchen sink.  Not knowing any plumbers in the area I consulted with yelp and came across the Fred and Son listing.  Although he had minimal reviews, he was local so I thought I would give him a call and find out if he would be available.  I called around 12pm and he was at my door at 2pm.  I was very happy with the work done.  Fred is a very friendly, knowledgeable guy and was fair and honest with me.  Overall, I was extremely happy with his service and know if I need a plumber again he'll be the one I call.

The good reviews are 100% true.  Fred replaced a leaky utility sink faucet/pipe, and the whole process was zero stress.  Fred is very nice, in addition to being prompt, straightforward, reasonable, and quick.  Thanks, Fred.  :)

They charged my wife $417  for guts on one toilet. I feel like someone got raped. They also refused to install new replacement parts on the sink. Tried to sell a new faucet for $500.

Everything was fine up until I asked simply for a written quote after he had done his inspection for a water heater replacement. Never have I seen such defensive behavior, and I mean he did a complete 180. He clammed up, asked why I was wasting his time, and told me to continue shopping around, and left without giving me another word in. Just like that.

The thing is, as a diligent consumer, I had already shopped around. I was actually about to hire him for the job since he was offering me the lowest price, and I just wanted a written quote so as not to get screwed over later... it's common sense to have a written agreement.

Unbelievably unprofessional.

Fred and Joey are great guys and they do excellent work. I live in a high-rise and Fred has said he prefers not coming here given the difficulty of parking, the elevators, etc but has always been professional and willing to do the job which I greatly appreciate. He is also a great guy to talk to and I always enjoy catching up with him. He was just here yesterday to install a new kitchen faucet - called him at 9am, repeating multiple times it was not urgent so call back when you can and he had the job done by 1pm that afternoon.

He also did my garbage disposal a few months ago and rebuilt a toilet last year that - all work has held up beautifully and those jobs were also done with the utmost care, workmanship and professionalism.

Granted I prefer to NOT need to call a plumber (as I'm sure most people feel) but I will always call Fred. Highly recommended.

I had a straightforward installation of a kitchen faucet (replacement), but my usual plumber wasn't interested for some reason.  Based on other Yelp reviews, I called Fred & Son - he called back within 5 minutes and was on my doorstep in a few hours, 10 minutes before he said he'd be here.  The faucet installation went smoothly, price was reasonable, and Fred and son were both personable and professional.  I'll be calling them again next time!

I don't usually write reviews, but I was impressed with Fred (perhaps because Spartan Plumbing kept me waiting for 5 hours the day before) but Fred is a good plumber and a nice person. He arrived 15 min early and was polite, nice, etc. I would call him again if needed. I always trust in Yelp and this reaffirms my belief.
