Total Handyman

Found Dan through Yelp, and I was very pleased. Called him that morning and while we had some small hiccups due to weather-related scheduling, he did show-up later that afternoon. I had a terribly backed up sink, but he took care of that and was in and out pretty quickly.

A very trust worthy man who delivers solid service. He's not out trying to scheme you by any means. He's more about helping you and making you happy, then onto the next job. Give him a try.

I am writing this review because appointments (at least 20 NO-SHOWS since Oct. 2012), countless pleadings, cancellation of my Christmas trip to see my 94- year-old mother, and more unfulfilled promises than I could describe - nothing has yet worked to get Dan to finish my project. The most frequent excuse, which boggles my mind, is that he has appontments to give new bids or do other new business. I've already paid for mine but this wonderful, charming man just doesn't show up when he promises - over and over and . . . I'm sure he can do wonderful job on any 1/2- day project you have, but meanwhile he's leaving my big one unfinished since getting my final payment on 12/23/2012. This talented man is a victim of his own success,  unable to manage all his commitments.

Most reviews heretofore have been been positive, and most are almost a year old. Pls look in the filtered reviews for someone else with an almost identical experience as mine, dated 1/2013.  Please, Dan, don't self- destruct!

I do not recommend using this handyman service. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews, as he is very unprofessional and does not follow through on commitments.

I had called Steve to hang a few paintings, originally, we were scheduled for the 9 AM on 25th of June. However, after a few phone calls with Steve, he informed me that he needed to finish a few things at a job from the other day and was going to be 2 hours late. Eventually, 11:40 AM rolled around and he called to inform me he just bought the required hardware but that he had an emergency call. I was understanding  and we agreed to reschedule to 9 AM on the 2nd of July. During that conversation, I was promised that I would be the first thing he attended to on the 2nd.

On the 2nd, I received no form of communication from Steve, and only when I called him at 9:30 AM was I told that he would call me back. at 9:40 AM I received a phone call from him telling me he was on his way. However, by then I had rescheduled with another service.

In total, I spent a total of about 4 hours waiting around for him over 2 days, and if you have that kind of time by all means hire him.

I called Total Handyman yesterday after reading the positive reviews below. I was feeling a little hopeless because the other handy people I called were unwilling to come to my house in downtown Denver for the small project I needed help with. During our phone call, Dan made an appointment to come to my house today and gave me a window of time during which he would arrive; he later called me to give me a closer estimate to his arrival time which was great because I did not waste any of my day waiting on him (Comcast could learn a lesson from Dan:-).

Dan arrived when he said he would, was very professional but also friendly, and I was very pleased with the results of his work. He charged exactly what he told me he would and was not bothered by the small size of the job. I will definitely use him again. And from the perspecitve of a solo woman meeting with someone I don't know in a place as intimate as my home, I was very comfortable having Dan there. That is really important to me and I appreciate it very much.

Dan came by on a holiday weekend and did an excellent job on my plumbing problems.  He gave me an estimate on the phone before he came and when he was finished, he charged me exactly what he quoted, even with an additional task.  

He was very capable with the two plumbing problems I had: a drippy shower faucet and PVC piping that had come undone under the sink.  While he was here, I asked him to replace the caulking around the base of the tub, fully expecting him to charge me more than what he quoted me.  The old caulk came off easily and he replaced it quickly with caulk he happened to have with him.  

When he finished, he cleaned up the mess that he made and told me that he guarantees his work for a month.  More than a month has elapsed, and the shower faucet hasn't dripped once and the drain he replaced under the sink to attach to the PVC pipe is working perfectly.  The caulk looks better than any handyman has done before.

I will definitely call Dan for future handyman jobs.  In fact, he's coming on Friday to fix the swamp cooler and replace the water valve that feeds it.

Dan worked way beyond the amount of time he thought it would take, yet didn't charge me a penny over his estimate. Incredible integrity.

If you need a handyman, don't hesitate to call Dan.

DO NOT USE THIS MAN. I called Dan after my front door got broken in to - on the phone he was nice and seemed responsive, scheduling me in last minute for later in the afternoon. I left work early to be back to my place, Dan was 2 HOURS LATE and DIDN'T BOTHER TO CALL TO LET ME KNOW. He then quoted me at $200 - materials would cost $12, the rest was for his time. He said didn't have time to fix it same day, at was totally booked all day Saturday, so he scheduled to come back 2 days later, Sunday, 10am. Sunday at 11am, I still hadn't heard from him, so I called and he said he had a fence job that ran late the previous day that he needed to finish up this morning and it would be another 2 hours at least til he could make it to my house. Finally, at 1pm, he called and said he be there at 2pm. Sure enough, he gets here at 2, the whole job took about 1 hour, and yet he wasted over 6 hours of my time. IF I AM PAYING FOR YOUR TIME, YOU BETTER RESPECT MINE.

He didn't even have all the right tools - forgot clamps, yet he knew he'd be doing woodwork. Odd to me. His assistant Steve was more knowledgable than Dan himself, he knew a place where we could have actually replaced the door, also was more observant, noticed that Dan was using the wrong ratio of hardener to epoxy.... pretty strange. He said he had a high end epoxy but when they went to use that, it didn't hold at all and ended up having to make an additional trip to the hardware store. Pretty ridiculous.

Moral of the story: Unless you really love WAITING AROUND FOR SOMEONE who CANNOT manage their schedule and takes on jobs he doesn't have the capacity to take on, then do yourself a huge favor and AVOID this company at all costs. And the finished job was only OK, really not the greatest work especially for how long it took to get done and costing me $140.

Great experience with Dan and his team. Prior to having my house painted, I needed to have some T1-11 siding replaced in some tricky areas (around windows, up high and such). Dan quoted a fair price and we scheduled the work. The job proved to be a bit more challenging in complexity - and they muscled through it, delivering excellent results. I decided to have the team back to complete another project too. Great bunch of guys that work hard and deliver great results. They are very professional and showed respect for our home as they worked. Very highly recommended.

Hired Total Handyman to help with a mudroom remodel in January 2015. The crew installed the washer incorrectly, causing a slow leak that was not discovered until December 2015. Upon inspection both the washer and dryer were installed incorrectly, causing flooding and a fire hazard with wire splicing. We are now missing a wall, a ceiling in the basement, and have no useable washer or dryer (which is really great timing with a toddler who is projectile vomiting).  No effort on TH's part to remedy the situation. Remediation will cost over $5K not including the possibility of having to purchase brand new washer and dryer ($4K).

Dan was AWESOME!  He came over around 5pm and fixed my garbage disposal in about 20 minutes!  I will definitely recommend him and call again for any handy needs!  Very affordable as well.

Pros:  Dan does quality work and is definitely trustworthy.  I hired him for a project in my home and he did a great job, the work has stood up well over time.  Additionally, his rates are very reasonable compared to most and he is able to complete a variety of tasks, meaning he is more flexible than most.  He is also very friendly and personable.

Cons: Unfortunately, I do agree with other reviewers that he may be taking on too much or has an inability to manage his schedule. The first job I hired him for, he called me after our set appointment time and rescheduled to the next day.  The next day he arrived late and finished the job much later than anticipated.  More recently, I have called Dan and left voicemails on 3 different occasions over the course of 2 weeks for a new job and he has never returned my phone calls.  Guess that's his way of telling me to move on to someone new, which is what I am going to do.  It is a shame though, because Dan does do great work, but I don't have weeks to wait for a return phone call.

All these great reviews are completely deserved!  Dan was able to come over the same day I called, gave me an estimate.  He gave me a window for when he would do the work and called to give me a closer time.  He was quick, efficient and the work was just what I expected.

Plus Dan and his crew are genuinely nice, friendly folks.

I will be using Total Handyman again!

We hired Dan to install ceiling fans when another handyman (Handyman in Denver) flaked on us.  Dan squeezed us in on a Saturday afternoon, despite having an impacted schedule.  At the end of the day, with a huge rainstorm, it was too late for his team to work, but he stopped by to ask if he could come in the morning the next day.  His team showed up bright and early on a Sunday morning.  Installed two ceiling fans quickly.  Everyone was friendly and efficient, and Dan knocked off $40 for the missed appointment.  Even without the discount, Total Handyman was $40 cheaper than the other quotes I had received.  
We passed Dan's contact info to our landlord because they were so great.

We received one other paint quote, and Dan's was much lower. The work was fantastic, too. They were done quickly, they kept the space clean, and they were so easy to work with.

We had a fence that needed repaired. Dan was very knowledgable about what needed to be done and he gave us the best estimate.

He came the next day with his crew. They were punctual, polite to our family and pets, tidy, finished early, and the estimate was on point! We are so happy with the quality of their work.

I highly recommend Total Handyman as an honest and professional company!

I hired Dan at Total Handyman to fix the fence at my rental house. He started, but did not finish the job. After multiple cancellations I had to call another handyman. I won't use his services again. I should have listened to the negative reviews. Beware.

They did a great job on a bunch of things we needed done around the house.  Very reasonable as well.

Glad to have finally found a handyman on yelp!  I'm a big believer of not being charged for a trip cost or paying a marked up price for parts like past handymen have, so he had me when I read that on his website! I thought his pricing was fair, his work was professional, and his demeanor honest.  I'll definitely give him another chance.

Dan is the kindest handyman around.  And so efficient!  He installed a ceiling fan the same day I called.  WOW!  Would use him again in a heartbeat.

Dan was awesome! We were in a time crunch and he and his team were able to to get everything we needed done ahead of schedule. They are very fast, clean, friendly and thorough. You can tell he is doing what he loves for a living from the care he puts into his work. I could not have been happier with the speed and quality of the work he did for us. Dan makes sure that you are absolutely happy with the work he has done before he collects a dime for you. He also stays true to his estimate and does not charge you for the all the extra stuff he does to go above and beyond. He completely installed an overhead light in our garage, that was unusable before, for free. I could not recommend him more. These reviews proved to be true, so glad we used Dan the Total Handyman!

I am writing this review because, because of all the good reviews I have seen against this company. I was charged $12,000 for a remodel of my garage to an office. The company did not show up everyday to get my work done by August as promised. The doors were hung crooked, leak terribly the ceiling has a crack across the entire room. He did not pay his sub-contractors for work he hired them to do, I paid them. He has not come back to finish or fix what they did to date. I would not recommend this company no matter what they say.  Don't believe all these good reviews, they got here due to the money he took from the rest of us. BEWARE!!!

Found Dan on yelp and was not disappointed! Professional, prompt and friendly service.  He did a really great job, I'm happy to recommend him.

Today we had a dog door installed by Dan and his assistant Mike.  Just to clarify, we had to call Dan after another company who specializes in dog door installations said the project was too extensive and complicated for them.  It was through a siding wall under a window and it wasn't a kit door.  Dan and Mike showed up with all the right tools, worked diligently and were knowledgeable and very friendly. They framed out the door to match the window surround and were as concerned about the final look as we were, dog doors can look pretty terrible.  This one looks fantastic, we are very pleased.. and so is our dog who is bounding in and out without a problem. Well done!

Dan and Steve were really friendly, responsive, and efficient.  They did a good job hanging some heavy items in my place.  Fair pricing too.

I chose Dan through Yelp and was thrilled that he lived up to the glowing reviews on the site.  We scheduled a time on a day that turned out to include a major winter storm, and he called to say he would be a little late.  What a breath of fresh air to find that sort of conscientiousness!  His work was excellent and the price was very reasonable.  I will be calling Total Handyman again whenever we need work done.

Their work is average. They get the job done, but dealing with them is a nightmare. They were never on time. Sometimes they would call to let us know they would be late, other times they wouldn't. We had one job they didn't even show up for and they couldn't even pick up the phone to let us know. Then when we called to inquire, we were lied to about what happened. Getting a receipt is like pulling teeth. I still have not received one for their last job after several attempts. I would not recommend them as they are very unprofessional.

We decided to give Dan a try after reading the great reviews. He was a little hard to pin down to get an estimate done for our project. In fact, he completely forgot about the initial appointment until I called him to ask if he was coming. I gave him a hall pass since I know good contractors/handymen are a hot commodity. His price for our project was fair and once he and his guys started the work they got right to it. Unfortunately, our project has been mostly finished now and we are having a terrible time getting it completely finished. The crew brought scrap from another job that has been sitting in the driveway for weeks, paint touch ups have been left undone, our new doors are now not opening and closing. I have left messages for Dan. I have followed up and spoken with him and gotten a sorry and promise to get to it Saturday. The work was supposed to be completed over the weekend, but not yet. And No phone call to give me a heads up. Time for me to follow up again. I even have a lot more work that I thought I would have Dan take care of (and keep his attention). Not so.
