A tale of two plumbers

I won't go as far as to say KayGee Jackson, Excavation Project Supervisor for Plumbline was trying to scam us, but I will say he was not looking out for our best interest. 4/27/2023, we had Plumbline services come to our home to clean out our main sewer line because it was draining very slowly and backing up through the floor drain.  We have used them several times over the years with no problems. This time however, before the technician even attempted to clear the line, he told us he needed to have his supervisor come out.  The supervisor KayGee said he needed to run a scope through the line, but he was unable to get through. (now remember they hadn't cleared the clog so of course he couldn't get the camera through the line). Furthermore, he told us they needed to replace a 6 ft section of the sewer line at a cost of $8200+ and that he could have an emergency crew at our home the following morning or Monday at the latest. He also said they wouldn't even attempt a clean out because it could cause more damage. VERY HIGH PRESSURE to try to get us to agree to the repair. We told him no, we needed to get a second opinion from another plumber.
We called Garvin's Sewers Service & scheduled an appointment for Monday 05/01/2023.   Saturday the slow drain went to no drain so I decided I couldn't wait for Monday.  I ended up renting a sewer auger and my wife and I cleared the line.   We kept the Monday appointment with Nick from Garvin's. He scoped the line and said it was clear except for a few small hanging roots.   When we asked if he should run another auger through, he said he could, but it would just be a waste of our money. Nick at Garvin's was great and we will have him out again for preventative cleaning. Nick sent us the video of the scoping, which we forwarded to my brother, a home inspector out of state, & he agreed-there was no brake in sewer line needing replacement.

First of all I am a Plumber. Not the kind of Plumber that cleans drains. I like to be home at night. My drain clogged and I contacted Garvins. I was given a two hour window and the Technician called beforehand and showed up early.
John the technician was clearly experienced and well trained. He removed the roots and inspected with a camera once he was done. He didn't upsell me, and the bill of $400 was completely reasonable for a skilled technician operating expensive equipment. If you ever have a drain problem John at Garvin's is your guy. I will never call or refer anyone else.

Plumber was rude, performed more than I had asked and didn't guarantee work.  I was upset he didn't consult with me before performing 2nd part of work he did then put notes in his little pad  saying I was rude and we were dumping raw materials in pipes.  Management refused to take my call for 9 months nor adjust the bill in any way.  Guess when you're in a pinch they take the extra inch.  plenty of better options, unless you want service akin to what they are clearing from your pipes.  Accounting ladies were always nice though!

These guys just saved me several thousand dollars.  I was getting back ups in my laundry room when we ran our kitchen sink and dishwasher.  Another plumber who shall remain nameless came and told me that he ran 70 feet of snake and found no blockage.  He said my line was not blocked, that my house had settled and my issue was the pipe was backpitched.  This would have required many thousand of dollars and jackhammering up my basement (or relevelling my foundation).  My BS detector was screaming alarm bells so I went looking for a second opinion.

Garvin's sent a guy named Jarid out in under an hour.  He found a blockage about 35 feet into the line.  Worked through the built up sludge and grease.  Everything is perfect now.   And it cost me half what the other guy was gonna charge me... for the job the other guy didn't do... because the other guy was full of sewage.

I don't know if these guys are the best, but they are going to always get my business.  They did the job they were asked to do.  No upsell.  No BS.  I know they have integrity - that's tough to find.

We had 2 sinks, including our kitchen sink, back up on a Friday night before Labor Day weekend.  We called every plumbing service that we could find and no one could get to us.  One company referred us to Garvin's and not only do they service our area (mountains), but they had a technician here in less than 2 hours.  Jim was a DELIGHTFUL young man!  He was professional, but personable.  Knew his stuff.  Had our issue resolved in no time, and the bill was very reasonable for an emergency call.  He encouraged our son's questions and let him watch, giving him a fist bump on the way out.  I would 100% use them again, and more specifically, I would request Jim in a heartbeat!

We had a minor problem with a drain, and Logan did a very careful and thorough cleaning.
Then John did some plumbing work, and he was great.

Great!

These guys are the best I have run into in 38 years of real estate and managing.

Just great.

Thanks.

We own a triplex in Lakewood and have had two drain emergencies in the past year, one involving a clogged mainline and one involving a clogged line running from a unit's toilet to the mainline.  On both occasions, Garvin's had a technician at our property within 2  hours of our initial call. The most recent  (May 9, 2023) involved a clogged line that could have been accessed by removing the toilet, but instead Dennis took the initiative to take his snake into the crawl space below the unit, where he located a clean out plug under the building and successfully cleared the line (roots) from that access point. Additionally, when he discovered gray water had pooled in the crawl space due to the back-up, he took his shop vac under the unit and did a good job in cleaning up the mess. He was professional, courteous and knowledgable.  We will always call Garvin's when we have any issues with our properties. And their pricing is very fair for the quality service they provide. Highly recommend them

Unbelievable experience! I found standing water in my basement over the weekend. Based on reviews from a neighborhood app, I called Garvin's. Daniel (and another young man, I didn't catch his name) told me the sewer line was clogged and they would have everything fixed in about 40 minutes. And they did! The price advertised for drain cleaning is what they charged me. No upselling, no trying to make this more than it turned out to be. I am SO happy there is a reliable and honest plumbing/sewer company out there!!!

Kitchen sink clogged - on a Friday night!!!  Called left msg and was called back Sat morn.  Logan kept me posted for his arrival time.  Throughout his time he explained what he was doing and why. Very professional yet friendly. We have used several different outfits over the years and Garvin's moves into the preferred spot.  Affordable, on time , cleaned up.  Good job!

Quick response to clear a clogged main sewer line in my basement. Daniel Acevedo was friendly and fixed the issue in about an hour. Everything is working great now. He cleaned up the area nicely as well. My only complaint is he left minor damage to the drywall and plastic cover to the water shutoff valve.

Contacted them for sewer rodding twice. The first time failed because somehow they couldn't find our appointment on their schedule as discussed earlier via phone; so my husband got off work for nothing. However, the second time was good. They showed up on time and everything was done promptly. It costs us about $180. Overall, they're pretty good. Just make sure to confirm your schedule beforehand.

I can't say enough about how awesome Garvin's is!  They are always quick to help and do not overcharge.  Today my hose on the water heater sprang a leak. I we couldnt find the correct size in the store.  My first thought...call Garvins. They are my choice for plumbing every time, and they never let me down. Thanks Garvin's!

Had Garvins out to my recently purchased home to clear a blocked drain in an upstairs bathroom. The technician had to pull the toilet to complete the job. I heard a wet/dry vacuum running during the repair, but didn't think too much about it at the time. The technician cleared the drain, so I paid the invoice and he left. The next morning, found the ceiling directly below the bathroom in question, with a huge water bulge in the sheetrock, that was actively leaking all over my new oak floors. Called Garvins immediately and they sent a plumber over right away. Plumber agreed that water had leaked from the bathroom above (but not before he cut a huge hole in my ceiling to make this determination) and said he would have someone in charge call me to formulate a plan to remedy this issue. I never received a phone call back from Garvins at all regarding this issue. I've called them, and left messages with no response at all. Horrible customer service! I still have a huge hole in my ceiling, as well as a damaged oak floor. Probably have to get an attorney involved at this point.

We'd had a water heater installed-- about $2000 for parts and labor. Recently it stopped working. My son (a certified tech) replaced a part, but it still didn't work. I called Garvin's and Ron came. Ron went to the basement and was upstairs again in less than five minutes. He said that since my son had worked on it, even though he is a certified tech, the manufacturer's warranty was voided, and all we could do was replace the water heater-- another $2000. I told my son, who bought  a valve and repaired my water heater for a tiny fraction of the cost. My son couldn't understand why we should replace the whole water heater if an inexpensive part was all that was needed. It makes no sense!

My first time calling Garvin's after a recommendation from a friend. They were able to send a tech out the same day. Very prompt and professional, wore a mask and gloves, and was able to clear out the line quickly and for a very reasonable cost. Highly recommend Garvin's!

Garvin's came out six weeks ago to clear the drains, laundry sink was draining slowly. Six weeks later, laundry and kitchen sinks are backed up and Garvin's says we had a 30 day guarantee. They won't offer a discount, so it's time to give someone else a chance to remedy the situation.

Poor customer retention and a F-U attitude from the guy who answered the phone is the reason I decided to leave a review. I also decided to give someone else a shot at remedying what Garvin's did not -- this is the SAME drain being problematic.

TJ you're the best! You calmed me down and got the sewage unblocked right away. Professional and upfront pricing. Courteous of home when hauling equipment in/out.
-1 Star however because they couldn't get scope next day after told it was very likely.
Had to call another company out.
Very thankful for their help!!!!!

Hands down the most reliable, proficient, and economical team of plumbers - Garvins is far more than a drain service (and they fo a great job at that too!!). No set catalogue of fixed overpriced services. Just good old fashioned service by the hour, and they come prepared with the parts at the ready! Fantastic!

Saw great reviews of Garvin's on Nextdoor and decided to call them to clear out all the roots in my sewer pipes. The technician, Zhayn, showed up on time. He had to carry a huge machine through our garage and down to the basemen, but he moved his tools very carefully and put everything back as they were when he was done, and left basement spotless! He was very nice and easy to work with. Their price was totally reasonable as well. Highly recommend!

On Wednesday night we realized a basement utility sink was backed up and full of water and gunk. We weren't sure if it was the main line or what. Called Garvin's on Thursday morning based on Nextdoor and Yelp reviews. Caleb came first thing Friday morning (btw I could have had a Thursday appt but chose Friday). He was great. Explained everything he was doing, and took the time to determine what the backup was. He determined the backup was on a secondary line, not the main line. He got his equipment out, took care of it. Then helped us understand what we could do to keep it from happening again and how to do it ourselves the next time if needed. Not that we will, but still, good to know that if it was an emergency we might be able to do something ourselves before the professionals show up. Also, best part was that the price I was quoted on the phone for a main line cleanout was higher than just a cleanout for a secondary line. So we paid less than I was expecting. Will for sure be calling Garvin's when we need other plumbing services.

Long story short: After another company informed us it would take $6,800 to fix our broken sewer line, we decided to get a second opinion from Garvin's. It was just a few roots the first company obviously missed. I will never wonder who to call next time I have an issue.

I had a sink in the basement that was backed up - I originally called Bell Home Solutions that came out and snaked my kitchen sink drain (for 2 hours) with no success for $275 - ouch!  They said I needed to have the drain water blasted for $750 - seriously?!?!  So, they came out the next morning and again water blasted my upstairs kitchen drain (remember the basement drain is clogged) - they were here from 9am till12:30 - nothing - they they provided me a $4,000 quote to cut holes in my walls to find the pipe and re-route my kitchen line.

OK at that point I called Garvin's for a second opinion - I called them at 1pm - they had a drain clearing specialist, Leo out to my house by 3pm - on a Friday no less!!  He was able to go through the basement sink drain and clear it in 20 min for $106.

I was thrilled to have my drain cleared but PISSED that I wasted $1,025 on Bell for nothing.

Lesson learned if you have a drainage issue call a drain cleaner NOT A PLUMBER!!!  Garvin's is great and Leo was fantastic!!  Thanks for making a crappy Friday better!!  Oh and they provide you with a 90 day guarantee!!

Highly recommend!!  They will be my first call next time for sure!

We have used Garvin's since we bought our house 20 years ago.  I will never use anyone else.   Our house is old, and the pipes are horizontal.  So we need to have the lines cleared about once a year.  Recently we had more frequent back ups, and have had to had them cleared more often.  They always honor their guarantee with a smile.  Just today, we had to have them come back after only 30 days, thinking that perhaps the main line needs repair.  I ordered a camera put down the line...which usually spells trouble. I felt confident, however, as Garvin's doesn't do digging and won't sell me services I don't need.

Well, I was prepared to pay thousands of dollars, thinking my mainline was in dire need of repair.  To my relief and gratitude, the tech said, nope, tree roots...the tech who was here last time was a rookie...so no charge for another clean out and no charge for the camera, either!.

Dumbstruck.

These people are as honest as it gets.  I will never, ever call anyone else.  Customer for life.

The technicians are always friendly and courteous and careful, and even the rookie will get a pass in my book--as every job takes some experience.  The professionalism of these folks just can't be beat.

Thanks, Garvin's!

I had a quote of $5,500 plus plus to clear a drain blockage.
The young blowhard know it all plumber who tried to sell me a job that I didn't ultimately need... knew nothing about how to solve the problem. He DOES KNOW SCAMMING.

I was told to call Garvin's which was one of the best calls I've ever made.
DAVID, the young man sent to solve my problem, was courteous, knowledgeable, hard working, efficient and a class act. In short order and with his expert diagnostic skills....my plumbing issue was solved. No Jack hammers....no disastrous mess....no lying inexperienced so called plumber/excavator AND thousands $$$$$ saved.

For $205 ....DAVID pulled a gigantic wad of tree roots from the main line and WALLAH....PROBLEM SOLVED.

Beware of plumbing scammers who call themselves Affordable....CALL GARVIN'S

I am converting my garage into a studio apartment and I had another craiglist plumber stub up a drain from main sewer line and install a second clean out. While I was having the work done my plumber and I noticed the main line was holding water and such, basically clogged but not backing up into the house yet. The plumber doing the work suggested I replace the whole line, but I rolled the dice and had him complete the job he was hired to do then a few weeks later I looked in the new clean out and noticed it was full of water.

Long story short- I found Garvins on Yelp and they came out about an hour after I called, and cleared the line like it was walk in the park. I hung around with the tech for three hours and while he got the line cleared. During that time, he didn't harass me the whole time with scare tactics like most plumbers do, he did took the time to educate me and he didn't charge me for the third hour because I was a first time customer.

Bottom line- I'm supper happy and I will be using them for other plumbing services as well.

Good Luck

10 pm and the kitchen drain is somehow backing into our laundry room; laundry rooms smells like the garlic and tomatoes from dinner's pasta sauce as it's backed up onto the floor. UGH. Do some quick research through NextDoor and Yelp and Garvin's has great feedback on both. I call them, expecting to leave a message but get a lovely young lady answering the phone. Schedule a technician for the next morning.

Technician arrives as expected after his call to let us know he's on his way. He's friendly, does zero upselling, and proceeds to get the job done! This whole time we're biting our nails worried about cost because previous plumber experiences have been less than ideal and expensive.

Shocked that it only cost about $100 and came with a 90 day guarantee on that line. Instant relief. AND we can run the dishwasher and sink again! AND he cleaned up our laundry room sink that had nasty tomato residue and made sure our washer and dryer were put back in place. That's serious service above and beyond! Now, anyone know how to get the smell of garlic from linoleum??

The tech that came out to my home did a great job and was really professional. I had to call them back and do a follow up on a $60 added charge on my invoice for a second line. The issue is they never ran a second line. The person who answered the phone implied that I was lying and that it's my word against his. Terrible customer service has lead to a loss of a repeat customer.

My kitchen sink plugged up (the garbage disposal) and I called Garvin's last night and their tech, Manny, was here by 10:30 this morning (5/8/20).  It was a rather big job and Manny had to carry in quite a lot of equipment.  He did an excellent job in a short amount of time.  He advised me not to use the garbage disposal (which I had already decided to do); he carefully cleaned up any messes resulting from his work.  The cost was well within my budget range and I was more than happy to get it done in such a professional and speedy way.  From the lady who answered the phone through the completion of the job I was well pleased and would certainly recommend them as being the best.

These people are the real deal! We had drains backing up which seems to be a regular or yearly thing with us. We relied on the Yelp reviews which were clearly favorable to this company. What I liked best was the upfront way things were handled and quality effort put into the job. Turns out our main sewer line out had a root buildup which meant our drains would back up. If we ran water and flushed you could hear the gurgle as gas came up. So we had spent a couple of days with a sewer smell...yuck! And we had to limit our bathroom use too! Double yuck! So I called and the assistant quoted me possible costs and gave us a 2-4 hour window for the tech to get to our house. Leo (referenced in an earlier review) called us when he was 20 minutes away and so arrived in a timely way. He diagnosed the situation and proceeded to router out the main line. It took him about 30 minutes and it was done! Leo was personable and knowledgeable. The quote given when I set it up was followed so that makes me a happy camper! Outstanding job by these guys. They have the people and the equipment to do the job right. By the way when it is a root backup the normal drain cleaners will not do the trick. So when you hear gurgling or see a backup just consider these guys. Reliable, honest and knowledgeable are all I ask. They delivered! And the cost was quite fair. Yippee!

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND SAVED ME A TON OF MONEY!!

My sewer line was backed up big time so I called the cheapest company I could find on yelp. They came to my house, worked the snake a couple of hours and and then referred me to a contractor to replace my sewer line because they couldn't get it open.

I decided to give it another try and I after some research I called Garvin's. Jonathan showed up an hour after my call and he was just great!! In less then 2 hours for only $165 he cleaned the sewer line and now it works great!

I would recommend this garvin's service to anybody!!

Lesson learned, is always cheaper to hire a professional!

There are big trees in my yard and when I bought my home 17 years ago, the previous owners told me I should get the sewer drains cleaned every year as a preventative measure to keep roots from building up. After a couple false starts with companies that told me I needed my main drain scoped or replaced (the previous owners had already done this), I found Garvin's. They've been doing this work for me for several years and I have always gotten wonderful service from a professional technician in addition to a fair price. A few years ago I missed a couple years and sure enough, I had a back up. Needless to say, I've had it done every year since and no more problems.

Hunter did the job for me yesterday and he is a total gem! He made sure to work around plantings by the cleanouts, took particular care of my brick work, and is an absolute delight to work with. Thanks again Garvin's for another great experience!

I called Garvin's regarding a slow drain in my upstairs bathroom. Their gentleman (Brian?) was very knowledgeable and broke me the news that I have 110 year old lead pipes, and explained to me the risk of cleaning them. I opted not to risk a cleaning that could further damage them, so he put everything back together and didn't charge me a penny. Nice guy.

These guys are the real deal.  Honest and straight-forward.  Sure, their line inspection might cost a little more than all the $99 specials advertised on the radio, but they DON'T come up with BS issues and pressure you into unnecessary repairs.  If you want a technician to show up at your house, use these guys.  If you want a salesperson to show up at your house, use the $99 guys.  I learned the hard way...

I've had Garvin's out twice to clear clogged drains.  I've been pleased with their customer service on the phone, though there is one lady answering the phones who is pretty darn cranky!  Their on-site drain cleaners have gotten the job done pretty quick and offered competitive prices.

I would recommend to Garvin's that they clean their equipment more often.  Even though the on-site drain cleaner did work hard to clean my bathroom after, there was drain 'gunk' (what is it and whose pipes did it originally come from!?!)  that had fallen off his equipment on the floor and sidewalk where he'd carried it in.  Also, boot covers would be a big help in the house!

They might be cheaper than other companies on some things, but watch out. They will send you invoices for jobs that were supposed to be courtesy. Really bad customer service, she straight up lied to me about whether we would be charged. They sent a bill after the fact that had a forged signature on it. Then threatened a collection agency to get me to pay it.

The techs themselves are really hit or miss. We've had a couple good ones and a couple bad ones. Lesson learned, though, we will be going elsewhere from now on.

Had my water line roto rootered out this morning and the whole thing was very very good. The man who came to do the job was super nice and friendly, worked quickly, gave me good advice about keeping roots out of my system. Overall a good experience and I'll call them again if I need help.

I read Amy M.'s review and decided to call to have my kitchen sink unclogged. From the very pleasant woman who took my call, to Romie's prompt arrival just a few hours later, to the prompt resolution and free tip to keep things flowing in the future, to the SURPRISING fair invoice, I couldn't be happier.

I called a week later with a plumbing problem, and discovered Garvin's just restarted its Plumbing division. Brian was just as prompt, courteous, fair, and thorough. He even invoiced under the quoted bid because he didn't need a part.

Fair, honest, professional, and courteous. That's Garvin's.

Alan from Garvin's did a phenomenal job unclogging a basement drain that was filled with years of hard debris.  He was able to snake the smallest of holes.  Courteous, professional, and reasonably priced.  I will definitely call them again!!

Like so many others I was sucked into the cheapest option for drain service. Company A came out and I got the doom and gloom outlook, price range and the whole nine.  To top it off, they had to send a supervisor the next day to run a camera through the lines because he was unable to clear it but could tell that pipes were collapsed,  etc.

A plumber friend was unable to help but recommended Garvin's. OVER his own company.  DJ came out the next day and explained every move he made, explained why Company A ' s tech might have been mistaken and how he would be in and out of my clean out line in fifteen minutes. The more he heard of the rip off Company A was trying to pull the more frustrated he seemed but he kept his cool and didn't smear or bad mouth anyone. Not only did DJ do an amazing job, it was fast, he was courteous and was very careful with my home and keeping things as clean as possible.

I was prepared to start the process of deciding what to do and how to pay for the thousands in repair bills. DJ and Garvin's not only fixed the problem with confidence and speed but gave me peace of mind that they would not rip me off and would take care of a problem that brought my family home to a screeching stop.

Thank you Garvin's, for hiring great guys like DJ and for promoting honesty, integrity and for being a company I know I can count on and endorse.

Rude, rude, rude. Started by scolding me because he has called me and I was supposed to call him back before he would come out. Well, I DID call him back, but I guess it wasn't fast enough for him. Stomped around my kitchen shaking his head and grunting about how much work would need to be done. After a few more minutes of heas shaking and grumbling l told him to do nothing. Charged me $36 to do nothing. Rude and nasty. Never again!!!! And let me just explain something to this man...I am NOT a plumber. YOU are. YOU are supposed to see what needs fixing and not complain about it.  You jerk.

Joe, the Garvin's Service tech, was unfriendly and argumentative from the moment he arrived.  He did not seem to know what he was doing and we should have asked him to leave right off the bat.

He assessed that the pump needed to be replaced within 2 minutes before doing anything to check it or fix it.

He said at least twice that he doesn't see many sump pumps and that he normally works on ceiling leaks not drainage issues.

When I told him that we thought there was a blockage he said these things don't get blockages.  They either run or they don't but they don't get blocked.  I told him that last time it was a blockage and that once the blockage was removed the pump worked.  He seemed frustrated and was very abrasive with me.  I asked if he was willing to check for the blockage or should we get someone else to come because we weren't going to just replace it.  He said, ok, I'll check but this thing is just burnt out and you need a new one.

I then heard him getting frustrated and complaining for about 10 minutes.  I went in and asked if everything was ok.  He complained that there wasn't enough room to work on it and argued with me again about the issue not being a blockage.  He said he was going to need to pull the pump out to work on it.

10 minutes later he had the pump out by his truck.  When I approached he said the pump was dead and that there was no blockage.  As I looked at the pump I literally saw a wad of paper blocking the whole and pointed to it.  He then looked at it and said oh, there's your blockage.  But that's not the problem.  The problem is that your pump is dead- and that probably why right there.  He picked out the wad of paper.  I said, lets try plugging it in again.  He then got pretty nasty and declared that it wasn't going to work.  I asked if we could try.  He picked up the pump, plugged it in to the outside outlet then grabbed the chord out of the outlet and said see?

Then he said I already ordered the new pump and it is on it's way.  I asked how much it was and he said 402.  Then I started texting with you and he went on the other side of his van and had a quiet conversation.  When he came back around he said- I was wrong.  The pump is going to run you about $700.  I asked if that included service.  He said that service would be another 300 on top of that.  At that point I told him we were going to get a second opinion.  He continued to be rude and went to get his stuff. Then he charged me 200$ for 2 hours of work....Which, buy the way, took less than an hour last time.

Even if the pump was burnt out and does need to be replaced it was still a very unpleasant experience.  He was rude, unprofessional and did not seem trustworthy.

UPDATE on this review.  The Pump worked fine!  We put it back into the sump pump basin and moved the ballast switch and it turned on.  GARVIN's tried to SCAM us by saying the pump didn't work and we needed to replace it.  They tried to take advantage of our limited knowledge to up sell us and take a perfectly good pump, refurbish it and sell it to someone else.  DO NOT USE GARVIN'S!  They try to take advantage of people and use fraudulent practices

I called today to schedule a sewer line cleanout, and was impressed that they were able to get us in the very same day. The tech, Cody, was professional and personable and did a quick and thorough job. Their price was more than reasonable and service was impeccable.

We found Garvin's last year after needing a second opinion when the first scam company said we needed to replace our entire sewer line ASAP for a few grand. Garvin Drain Cleaning came out, gave us an unbiased and honest opinion of what needed to be fixed and cleared out our main sewer line. They charged less than $200 and we haven't had any issues since.

We will be using this company every year from here on out, and I only wish we would've found them sooner.

I called Garvin's a couple weeks ago to clear a sewer backup. They told me they would be out at 8am the following morning. At 10:15 am I called them and was told that their computer was down and they would return my call. At about noon a technician came out. He was friendly, but never asked for an electrical or water connection. I didn't supervise him (I hoped he could do his job!) After about 30 minutes he told me that he couldn't go more than 30 feet because my sewer line had collapsed and I would need it scoped and a new sewer line - which would be several thousand dollars. He gave me the name of his referral, charged me, and left. Within 5 minutes, the Dig Dug sewer replacement company was calling to set an appointment. When I declined, the main office called me and said that I should set an appointment with Dig Dug because they trust them. Instead I phoned another sewer rooting company. They came out within a couple hours and cleared the line - no problem. Nothing about anything 30 feet out. Just roots about 100 feet out. These people are scammers. Don't hire them!

These guys are THE best plumbers ever.  I've had to call them 3 times over the past 2 years and they have always provided great customer service and a fair price that is well below their competitor's quotes.  Today we had Brian over to replace our outside faucets.  Brian is a pro.  He ROCKS!  He knocked out the job quickly even though it was difficult to get to since I have a finished basement.  Best of all he was super friendly, courteous and informative.  I couldn't be happier.  Thank you so much!

No large company is perfect. But this one is truly excellent. Everyone has slogans about how good they are. Garvin's goes something that promises that you don't get overcharged for quality work. Maybe someone has had a bad experience, but every time we've used Garvins, going back to the 1990s, there has been a consistency of quality and professionalism that has not waivered.

I'd recommend Garvins to anyone. I don't know if they are the cheapest or the highest price, but they have been consistently good and worth what they charge after multiple experiences.

Called Garvin's on Sunday afternoon for a plugged up kitchen line that was then backing up into my laundry room. Was given an appt early Monday and Steve B. came out to perform the work.

It took close to an hour to get the snake through the blockage but once done all systems flowed wonderfully. I was impressed with how professional Steve was and how persistent he was. If I'm not mistaken he spent as much time cleaning up his gear and my kitchen than he did troubleshooting as to not leave me a mess or track gunk into his next appt.

I'd highly recommend their service! The price I paid is exactly what was quoted ($103) and there was no pressure to add additional or unnecessary services. If you're lucky enough to get Steve you'll enjoy his company as he works.

We have used Garvin's for years. However, last year they sent an inexperienced technician for a preventative maintenance and it overflowed two days later. They sent someone who fixed it but refused to take any responsibility for our having to have our carpet replaced due to their error. We just had an overflow and decided to give them another chance. The person they sent out worked for 4 hours and couldn't get it cleared. Then he gave us the card of a company that tried to get us to spend nearly $10 K to dig it up. We just had Rooter Guy come in and they got it cleared within 30 minutes. We will never use Garvin again.

These guys are awesome and I strongly recommend them. My geriatric parents have been clients of theirs for years hence I called Garvin's when I needed the sewer lines in my old house cleaned.  Turns out my place was very demanding but these guys took good care of us.  There was a persistent problem that didn't solve easily but they kept at it until the problem was resolved.  They cost a bit more than the $99 special I've seen advertised but they delivered and didn't try to upsell me when perhaps they could have.  In my experience you can call Garvins into your home with confidence.

I first want to say I don't do these sort of things at all. I find reviews to be pointless for  most things because the experience is different for everyone. However, when I called Garvin's and spoke to a younger gentleman about a camera I needed he gave me a price breakdown that no one else did,and to top it off he was very funny. I set my time and had a gentleman named Steve take care of the task at hand. Steve was friendly and knew what he was talking about. overall very happy with the young man ont he phone and Steve. Hope this helps someone out.

We had some basement flooding today (Sunday) and I looked and called around multiple places before finding Garvins. Hadn't used them before/heard of them before. I actually saw them rated highly on another ratings site - rhymes with help - and made the call. Phone answered promptly and I explained the issue. They told me it would be about 4:30 or 5:30 before they would arrive. I was called about 3:15 and told by the service tech he was about 15 minutes away. Great!

The tech looked at the drains - both were very hard to get at. The floor drain's screws wouldn't come out so we put that on hold initially. Then the tech tackled the vertical sewer drain. The plug was really stuck in there - had to get broken out. It's an older house. He managed to do that and then snaked it. All clear. Then he went back to the floor drain and used vice pliers to get out the very rusted, very stuck screws. Success!

All in all very, very pleased. Prompt service. Friendly. And really exceeded expectations with getting at the drains. Would definitely recommend and use again. Thank you!

If you've ever been unfortunate enough to experience a sewer line back-up, you'll know it's not a repeat-worthy episode.  I've been on the hunt to find a reliable, honest and economical company to provide preventative clean outs of my main line.  Garvin's came highly recommended, with good reason.

When I called yesterday to schedule an appointment, I was thinking they'd fit me in sometime after the holiday.  To my pleasant surprise, I was told someone could come out tomorrow.  As promised, I got a call from Joe first thing this morning informing me he would arrive in about 20 minutes.

Joe showed up on time with a friendly attitude.  After putting down protective material for the carpet and work area, he took the time to explain the process and exactly what he'd be doing.  He finished the clean-out, answered all of my questions and tidied the work area.  Prompt and courteous service!

I am so relieved to have found an honest company that prides itself on service!  They didn't even charge extra for bringing additional cable.  I've been ripped off in the past by well-known competitors.  No more.  I won't hesitate to call Garvin's again and recommend you do the same.

This company didn't successfully service my sewer line and claimed I would need to spend thousands of dollars to replace a broken main  line. Wrong! Another company came on 6/22/18 and successfully cleared my main line without having to worry about a jackhammer estimate that would've cleaned out my bank account, so to speak. I saved 3-5k by shopping further. It pays to be patient. Trust is everything when it comes to sewer line repairs. It ain't cheap and it pays to shop around.

When my hot water heater at a rental was leaking, I asked friends for recommendations of a plumbing company they trusted. A couple people had used Garvin's, so I looked them up here and other reviews seemed to support them. I called on a Wednesday morning, and told them I needed something that day if possible, that my tenant had no hot water. Jenny there was helpful and said if they could she would call me right back, and she did. She was able to get a guy out there mid day. Paul was polite, helpful, and told me their charge is a flat fee regardless of how long it took. (he had to manually drain the old one, no drain in this old house.)

Technician was in and out in pretty good time, and cleaned up. Most importantly, there was an issue with air in the line later that day. Garvin's has a number you can call at all times, and they were able to put my tenant in touch with my technician, and he actually came back THAT NIGHT at 7 pm, and quickly fixed the issue.

Very few companies provide such good service, both same day, and then sending someone back the same night to fix. Garvins has earned my business moving forward, and I will tell anyone I can- these guys are fair and honest, and pay attention to the customer.

Outstanding service!!  Our sewer line was backed up and we discovered it Sunday afternoon.  We called Garvin's and the office said they were very busy but promised to get us in sometime in the evening.  Tim was at our house about 6:30 and quickly diagnosed the issue and had our drain system back working in less than 30 minutes.  Even though he had worked a long day, Tim was professional and very nice.  We will use this company again if we need help.

Called Garvin's about a clogged kitchen sink and Joe was here the next morning shortly after 8am.  He had the drain unclogged in less than 20 minutes and was a pleasure to do business with.  He was happy and polite the whole time he was here, and it's really something to see someone who enjoys his job and the company he works with (14+ years with Garvin's he says!).  The price was just as they quoted me over the phone ($103...which is much cheaper than what I was quoted by other companies...MUCH cheaper) with no surprises.  I knew this was a simple job and Joe reassured me that it wasn't a big deal and gave me helpful tips on how to avoid such clogs in the future.

If I'm ever in this problem again, I won't even second guess who to call.  The Garvin's magnet is up on my fridge, and I'll be requesting Joe Hands!  Thanks guys.  I hope others read this and immediately call you for the work.

My water heater's pilot decided to go out right in the middle of my landlady's 2 week hiking trip in the middle of Alaska. Oh ironies.

Since I despise taking cold showers, and very few plumbers will come on Sunday, Garvin's was my absolute savior. They were quick to respond, the phone staff polite, and plumber super nice and helpful, moving the washer and dryer out of the way to light the pilot and tighten up all the gas lines. They even gave me a 30 day guarantee which I used when the pilot light went out again.

House fan tip: Do not use on a windy day unless all the windows are open. It'll snuff your pilot light and it's cold showers for you.

OK never mind the first review... I did that review the same day the service was performed. The next morning about 1 minute into my shower there was standing water. Supposedly they had checked out that the drains were working but they must not have. My brother, on his day off, came over and took the stopper off our bathtub and the problem was just gunk right there under the stopper. The guy from Garvins said he wasn't able to get the stopper off and didn't even look in there.

I called to complain, talked to the service manager who said he'd get back to me, and he never did. Another poor example of customer service.

Next time I'll give my brother a hundred bucks and try that first, and if that doesn't work I will call another company

Woke up this morning to the ever delightful Monday morning treat of water gushing out of the bottom of the kitchen sink flooding the cabinet. I came into work and asked a coworker if it was something we could fix on our own or should we call out a professional. He said call out a professional and gave me Garvins info to call on. I made the call to their office at 10:15 am, she said they could have someone out within 2-3 hours, and I got a call back from Alan the service tech within 20 minutes. I asked on the phone to the central office how much she thought it would be and she said $100. Alan was in and out in 30 minutes, cleared the clog (it was 50 feet down the main line so I'm glad we didn't try to clear it ourselves), and was on his way. Ended up costing us  $100 as we were quoted which is always nice.

Overall, I was very impressed with speed and ease of what could have been a stressful, time consuming and expensive ordeal. Alan also said that they don't charge anything extra for nights, weekends or holiday calls, (which I totally would expect that they would charge more) but I will definitely keep their number handy should we need any plumbing work in the future.

Glad to read in another review that they guarantee their work if something were to be

Garvins and Josh are outstanding. Had a sewer backup, on the weekend no less. Called 2 sewer cleaning companies that said they were open on Sunday. Not one call back although I gave them each 2 hours to respond. Had to leave a message at both numbers. Finally called Garvin's and spoke to a human who promised they'd have someone out ASAP.  Josh called and got there within 45 minutes of my call. He snaked the line, finding roots, as I knew he would. Finished in about 35 minutes. I will never waste my time again. Garvin's has my loyalty now. And there is no extra charge for weekends and they give a 90 day warranty. I highly recommend Garvin's.

Steve came out and cleared a difficult sewer backup and made a video at my request. Another company tried to to clear this last week without success. Steve was able to clear the drain, make a video, and identify the problem as an offset in the PVC liner on the City's line, something the City can fix without digging, and at no additional cost to me. A third sewer company made a video of the same situation last fall and recommended a $6000 dig-it-up project.

Also, Steve was courteous, and cleaned up after himself. So glad I chose Garvin's.

We had used Garvin's successfully quite a few times. We have tree roots that occasionally back-up the plumbing in our basement. About every 18 months or so, they'd come out and get things moving smoothly. A little over a year ago, this exact scenario came up. Garvin's came out, as usual, and cleared up the problem, except this time they cracked our toilet when resealing it (they have to de-clog through the toilet in our basement which means removing the toilet, doing their thing, and replacing the toilet). Hubby called a few times and was told a manager would call him back, but no one ever did. Well, finally we are due for another clean-out, so we contacted them again to give them our service and hopefully address the cracked toilet issue. Unfortunately for us they were unwilling to help us out with the toilet they cracked so unfortunately for them we are no longer a customer and are finding phone records to show in small claims court how we tried to work with them to get this addressed over a year ago.

We hired them to do a routine cable cleanout of our sewer line for roots. They were easy to schedule with and although they gave a wide range of 12:00 - 5:00 they did call about 30 minutes before to let us know a more precise time they day of service. The price was comparable with other places I searched and I mainly used them because of good reviews here. They got the job done and let us know we didn't have much of a root problem which is good to know so we know how often to do maintenance. They provided a 90 day guarantee and a clear explanation of what was done. My only complaint was the technician left a bit of a mess in our bathroom when finished.

My dishwasher was leaking water all over the floor. Not only was I able to get an appointment on the same day, but they took the time to properly diagnose the problem, educate me on how to keep it from happening again, and get it fixed properly (it was a flat rate for the job, so the extra time was really appreciated). Leo and Tim were very prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be calling Garvin's from now on!

Outstanding service and excellent technician. I've used Garvins for three years now. They are respectful of the customer's time and an appointment was easy to get within a week for a non-emergency clean out of our sewer line. Joon, the technician was  courteous, worked quickly and took the time to answer my questions. A+++ service!

My main line was backing up again, and the last guy took over 4 hours to partially clear it, so I knew I would need it again.  He claimed there was a problem in the pipes and we would need to replace the pipes soon.  I called Garvin's this time due to Yelp reviews and they told me someone could come, but it would be late.

DJ arrived a little later than estimated, but still doable.  He was nothing like any of the people I've had clean my main line.  You could tell he knew what he was doing and he was good at it.  He was at it a little less than an hour, but in that time had snaked it three times (twice to clear it and once to make sure) and had it running perfectly.  He was very good at explaining exactly what the issue was and why the other people were wrong and just trying to drum up more business.  No excuses.  No delays.  Just good, knowledgeable, and friendly service.

I will definitely use Garvin's again.

Terrible, deceptive company.  Had them go out to a rental property to fix a shower that needed a new cartridge.   I was not there, but my tenant was home, he had turned the water off so it wasn't an emergency.  Technician called and said it would be $160 to fix it. This is the ONLY call, email or anything I received from them about the cost.  A few days later I get a bill for $362.51.  What?!  I never agreed to that, never signed anything with that amount, nothing.  They now claim that the $160 was for the part - a part easily obtained at Home Depot for less than $50.  I sent them $160, they deposited my check, and now this company has sent me to collections for the balance!  Even the lady at the collections agency said that this doesn't seem right.  You're not allowed to charge someone whatever you want without DISCLOSING it to them!  I am fighting this tooth and nail.  Completely ridiculous.  Be warned!  Do not go through what I am dealing with now....

It pains me to say, but I am breaking up with Garvin's.  I am a realtor who has recommended their services hundreds of times over the passed ten years.  I have also had my personal residence and rentals serviced by Garvin's.  My main service requests have been sewer line clean out, scoping and second opinions of scopes (for real estate sales).  They have, mostly been good.  Late a few times, but have called.

About two years ago I had a not-so-great experience with a Garvin's tech after calling about a plumbing leak on my personal residence.  He seemed rather lazy, not wanting to go underneath our crawl space to check for a leak when I could hear water running. Instead, he fixed something with our hot water heater but we could still hear the faint sound of water running.  I got another plumber to come out and indeed, there was a small leak, the size of a pinhole - but still a leak.  The guy jumped under the crawl space, no problem and fixed the leak in very little time and so I just chalked it up to not calling Garvin's for plumbing but remained a customer for sewer line clean out and scoping.

Just yesterday, I had an appointment for the afternoon.  I was told 3:30pm.  By 4:30pm no one came and no call.  I called and they said they would try to contact the tech but couldn't get a hold of him.  In talking to the front desk, I realized that the original appointment setter should have told me it was an appointment window, not an exact time but 3pm-5pm.  Okay, annoying but I would have been much more understanding had they just communicated it was an appointment window.  For the record, I don't remember Garvin's ever arriving more than thirty minutes after their appointment time in the past, nor do I remember an appointment window being the standard.  At 5:35pm, I finally got a call from the tech.  Then Mitch, one of the managers did call this morning to apologize, I guess.  He really was just making excuses for the tech he had a broken line in a trailer park prior to our appointment.  Okay, I have 9-month old twins and we adhere to a very tight schedule to keep our sanity and my time is just as valuable.  And, I was told someone would be at my house at 3:30pm.  Not to mention, the setback of rescheduling other contractors pending the clean out/diagnosis of our sewer line.  I am not one to accept excuses.  Especially when it means I have to spend my time waiting and/or rescheduling other contractors who can't do their work until we know if our sewer line is okay or if we will need to manage the roots of a very mature tree in our front yard that I suspect is imposing into the original line.  I will miss the good times, Garvin's but I will no longer use or recommend you.

I own several rental units, and plumbing backups are a regular problem. Garvin is reasonably priced - less then some of the competition at least, about the same as others, but I have found them trustworthy and not looking to pad the bill. They have told me that what other companies said was needed, was actually not needed, saving me hundreds. They seem to be geared to work with people who own several properties, so they are looking for repeat biz, not the quick buck - at least that's my impression.

I've used them a few times in the past. Reasonable rates, not into price gouging. They get the job done, not all jobs are simple. FYI, I would only use them to snake out drain lines. In that dept., they sure know their sh**!

I recently moved into an older home and was referred to use Garvins because I was having kitchen sink issues. We scheduled an appointment for 6pm, and at 6:05pm, we got a call that the job up north took a little longer than expected, but that he was on the way. He came in, and after realizing that just snaking our sink would not do the trick he explained to me that our sink was going to a grease trap and we would need to bypass it, which would need to be done a different day. The plumber did not charge me due to not doing any work which I was very pleased with. We then had an appointment to get everything fixed and the job only took an hour and they were in and out, very nice, and their price was right.

I have used Garvin's Sewer Service twice. Each time the Technician worked as if he was working on a relative's home. Care was giving to each detail of his mastery. I even called them on Superbowl Sunday last year when water was coming out of floor drains in my basement.. Guess what, NO EXTRA CHARGE, even on a Sunday.. WOW, such great service and prices that are good on the wallet. I will not use anyone else on my homes plumbing. I now know they not only do plumbing service but other services.. Oh happy days. They will be getting calls from me for other services.. Just a GREAT COMPANY with GREAT TECHNICIANS..  AAAAA ++++++

I called to schedule a maintenance clean out of my drains on all 3 floors. They'd started backing up but still draining. It was not an emergency but I didn't want it to get to that point. To my great surprise, Joe was able to come out the same day and take care of the problem. Talked me down from expensive services I didn't need, and did the job for a great price. This is definitely my plumber.

They are the best! Problem with our kitchen sink and they had someone out in less than two hours. Gave us the price before starting the job. Turned out to be more challenging than anticipated, but no extra charge and they stand behind their work. We had another problem a week later, they came out on a Saturday night. Turned out not to be a sewer drain problem and didn't even charge us for the call. I will only use Garvins from now on.

Realtor used Garvin's to do a sewer inspection when buying our house.  Good service at the time. Have used them since to do a sewer cleaning since there are lots of roots in the older line to our house.  Friendly and responsive service both times.  I wish more businesses had service this good, especially for such a dirty job.

Best plumbing experience ever.  No kidding. I signed up with Yelp just to give this review.  We had the sewer backing up into the house, on the weekend, of course, and ran the gauntlet of trying to find somebody who could help us.  Called and emailed all the highest reviewed plumbers in NW Denver and never heard back from any of them all weekend.
Garvins didn't show up in Yelp as serving The Highlands, but we have them a shot anyway.  So glad we did! I could tell this was going to be a good move just by how pleasant and helpful they were on the phone.
Allen showed up super quickly, calling ahead to confirm, was very positive and friendly, and was on the job right away.
Within 45 mins he had taken care of all our miserable drain problems, tested it all out, cleaned up everything, pet the dog, and gave us tips to avoid a repeat problem. All with no extra weekend charges!
Couldn't ask for better service.

We had some flooding in our furnace room...plumber came out and said we needed rotor rooter so we called Garvins.  We were promised a service tech by 4:00 and he was here at 3:30. Johnny proceeded to work extremely hard to clear our lines and did a fabulous job.  He was courteous, informative, helpful and professional.  The charge was more than fair.  There is a 90 day guarantee.  We without a doubt will call Garvin's again if necessary and request Johnny as he was the best.  Thanks!

Here's the scenario:

Sewer backs up due to a failed pump.  Get it pumped through a mountain specialist septic company other than Garvins.  When they troubleshoot the problem, they want nearly $900 to fix it.  Feeling like this is extortion, I start calling every septic company in Boulder.

After talking to 24 different companies and going through various referrals, etc. I finally come upon Garvins.  They are the only ones willing to:
1. Come up to the Boulder foothills
2. Brave the snowy conditions the day after a big storm
3. Do so on the day after New Years - when everyone else is on vacation
4. Jump into my pump tank (yep, filled with all kinds of crap - literally)

The head of septic there is a really great guy (forget his name) - he talks with me about the problem and apprises me of the various options.  We decide to go for the quick and easy fix because the pump's remaining life is questionable and it does not makes sense to put good money after bad.

With a jammed schedule, they work extra hard to fit me in - they really empathize with my dire straits.

When they arrive, the specialist is friendly, helpful and professional.  He happily jumps into the pump tank and goes to town.  Within the hour it is fixed and we are back to normal.

All in, it ends up costing me $100... a more than fair price for quality work and fast service.

I know who to call next time - just wish I didn't have to look so hard to find a reputable, trustworthy company in the first place.

Excellent service!!  Called Garvin way after hours on a Friday evening due to a main sewer line blockage.  We had called numerous other plumbers and none could provide service until Saturday.  Garvin's promised they would get someone out in the next few hours and they delivered!  Dennis arrived a few hours later (close to midnight) as they promised.  He was not only professional and efficient but an all around nice guy.  He got the lines cleared and the price was extremely reasonable.  Grateful for such excellent service!  Highly recommend!

I have used Garvins for over 20 years when I was building engineer at Westminster Mall. Also used them at home. I never had to call them back for a problem. Techs were all brilliant,  knew what they were doing and tried to not upset business in any way. No complaints whatsoever. Customer Service wonderful consistently and price reasonable.  They have what  all of us are looking for - Honesty and integrity. Highly recommend to the Denver community.

Today was my second time using Garvin's. Last time was a sewer clog (an awful thing in the best of circumstances). They were able to get someone out to our house the same evening of an afternoon call - and for that I am eternally grateful. The gentleman who helped us was efficient, friendly, and thorough.
Today, Ron V. came out to help with a leaky bathroom shower fixture. He turned a ho-hum repair into an enjoyable experience just by being interesting and interested in our family.
In both instances, I felt that I received great service at an extremely fair price. I will not hesitate to use Garvin's again or recommend them to a friend.

I have been successfully working with Garvin's Sewer Service for over 2 years, but apparently...all good things must come to an end.
I asked for them to check drains to make sure that they were flowing freely, and I was billed accordingly. Two days later I had a back up - and another bill. Then a third time...each technician was ruder than the next.
These men were unprofessional, dismissive and condescending. I took it to their supervisor, and quickly understood that they were following his lead.
I will never use them again! Goodbye Garvin's ~ hello Hurricane Drain & Plumbing!!

Review for getting my main line snaked. I've used them several times, same price day or night. They take time to take care of my house as they lug that giant machine to my basement clean-out.

On time. Get the job done. Courteous. Affordable.

OUTSTANDING!!!  Let me explain... It's a blizzard outside. We have close to 17 inches of snow at my house and of course it would be today that we have a water backing up issue. I called 7 other plumbers, local to me, who all said they could not help me today. When I called Impeccable Plumbing out of Arvada, the lady was so kind to listen to my problem and she explained that I needed a drain clean out not a major plumbing job. She recommend Garvin's Sewer Service. I called them ready to get another turn down, but no!! The gentlemen said he would send some one out as soon as possible. We got a call from the gentlemen who would be helping us out, Romie, 30 minutes before his arrival. Romie was amazing!! Took him no time to find the problem and patiently explain it to us. Talk about professional and respectful!  He even made sure he didn't track any snow into the house. That speak volumes of the caliber of employees Garvin's hires.  Thank you Garvin's for showing up in a blizzard, for having such high quality employees, and most of all for getting us back to normal. Respectfully yours!! ~ Amy

They never showed up...I called them at 9am shortly  after discovering that my boiler was out--no hot water--spoke with a chipper gal named Becky who said that they soonest they can get to me would be 3:30. I rearranged my entire worked day, lost two hours of work pay, and got home on time...They were not there at 4..not at 4:30...So I called and was told by the same chipper Becky that I was next in que and that they will be there shortly...at about 7:30 I finally got a hold of after hours worker who had no idea what I was talking about...did not have my info...did not have my order...and was quite rude (or was at I who was rightfully upset). Paged someone who was on call..who said that it was not his problem and he could not get to me today...Did not try to reschedule, make things right, nothing you would normally expect from a service provider. From 9am to nothing....HORRIBLE experience. Don't do business with them.

I've used Garvin's for years at my rental properties to clear drains and make minor plumbing repairs. They have been, without fail, timely, fairly priced, and tidy.  After they  provided more accurate assessment and resolutions for some issues, I stopped calling anyone else for bids.

They cleaned out the main drain on our rental, snaked it all the way to alley, the line was infiltrated with small tree and bush roots which were snagging all those bad things that go down the drain. They were in and out,  and reasonably priced. Can't ask for much more.

I called Garvin's after having a bad experience with Drain Solvers.  The plumber from Garvin's was very friendly and knowledgeable.  He educated me on easy and inexpensive ways to keep my pipes free from clogs.  Garvin's charged $103 to snake my pipes.  Drain Solvers was going to charge $338 along with giving me a long list of problems they thought they would find.  It is obvious Drain Solvers was going to eventually charge more than $338.  I am happy I decided to go with a second opinion from Garvin's.

My wife accidentally flushed a sponge down one of our toilets. After my unsuccessful attempts to retrieve the sponge with a hand-cranked roto-rooter, I determined I needed a plumber.  I went to Yelp to find a highly recommended local company and decided upon Garvin's.  I am very glad that I did and recommend them highly.  Tom and his trainee Rob arrived on schedule and were extremely courteous and efficient in clearing the sewer line and at answering my questions.  In fact, this toilet has not flushed as well in the 12 years we have lived in this house.  Tom was also able to put my mind at ease regarding some concerns about possible tree roots in my sewer line, finding no issues.  Their service call lasted 1.5 hours and the charge was $210, $80 for the basic service call and an additional $130 because they had to disconnect and remove the toilet to get to the main line from the house to run a roti-rooter down the line.  I found this charge to be very fair.  I will not hesitate to call on Garvin's the next time I need plumbing or sewer line service.

I am a landlord with many properties and have used Garvin's for 15 years.  They are fair and generally I have no surprises on the bills.  If I do have one it was because the problem was greater than we thought - roots etc.  They only do what is necessary and do not try to jack up the bill.  Bottom line is I trust then for both sewer and all plumbing issues and you can too.   I have never had a call back on them as things were done right the first time.

Had an appointment scheduled for 8 this morning.  The service tech showed up at 9 without a call to inform me that he was late.  I needed to get some additional plumbing information and found Matt (the servcie manager coincidentally) to be sarcastic and difficult on the telephone. He told me that the plumber had been to the site and had called my phone number to reach me.  Neither of my numbers showed that the plumber had called.  I am not the least bit impressed with this service.  We will NOT be using Garvin's again.

Had an emergency with a sewer ejector pump and valve, with resulting mess.  Chris came quickly, diagnosed the problem, and got us a replacement pump.  He then carefully tested it, and determined that the valve above it was faulty, which is likely what burned out the other pump.  He replaced it with a higher quality one.  He explained all warranties, and kept us informed of cost the whole time.  He worked incredibly hard in really not nice conditions fixing this for us, and he was polite, professional, and all about the solution.  He literally saved us from the poo!  Thanks Chris, and thanks Garvin's!

I booked an appointment to have my main sewer pipes cleared and was not having an issue with them but was told by an insurance adjustor that this needed to routinely be done in my house to prevent root penetration by my trees. When I called Garvins the girl on the phone I told her I was not having issues but the insurance guy told me to have my pipes cleared as a maintenance thing for my home. She told me how much it would cost and set up the appointment. When the technician got there the next day the first thing he asked me was when my house was built and I told him 1999 and he said I had plastic piping and didn't need the service. It took minutes to determine this was in fact the case and he charged me a $74 trip charge for telling me I didn't need anything done. The girl on the phone who booked the appointment could have easily determined the same thing! Instead she booked the appointment and I was charged for nothing! I asked the technician why the girl on the phone didn't tell me this and save me the money and he said she was trying to make a sale! When I called the office the next day to tell them I felt this was dishonest they said they were sorry I felt that way but there was nothing they could do about it. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! They do not investigate the situation and then you pay whether you need the service or not!! I could have understood covering the gas they wasted and even the time he took to come to my home but $25 would have more than covered that. When I called the office the man on the phone even admitted that the girl should have told me that I would be charged the trip fee whether or not the service was preformed. She did not tell me this!
