Common Ground Electric

About 5 days prior to listing my house, a ceiling fan broke.  I reached out on Yelp and Common Ground was the only company (out of the 5 pinged through Yelp's project query) that could schedule me in.  
The tech arrived on time.  And wore a mask (his own preference) which we appreciated (we were going to ask him when he arrived).  
The tech was professional, friendly and got the ceiling fan installed.  We may have them install them in our new home as well.

Common Ground Electric came recommended from a friend who put some recess lighting into their home. We were looking for a company to do the same in our garage and add a few outlets. They came and gave us a reasonable quote, we're quick to get an appointment afterwards and efficient the day they came out to do the install. We were asked to buy the recess lighting ourselves and that they would do the install. Left a little bit of a mess which is why it's down to a 4 star. Would use again though!

We contacted Common Ground Electric to have our car charger (electrify america) installed.

In summary: Terrible business, avoid them if you can. Electricians got the job done but took a lot of follow-up, patience and ended up paying way more than the quote.
Their motto is Honest, Reliable, Responsive, Local. I would say the only accurate word there is Local.

After calling them they were responsive in getting to us to quote the work, that is about the only positive I can say.
Once we received the quote, Darin mentioned that we needed to pay 50% up-front to get on the calendar and then the rest upon completion. We did as he asked and did not hear from them for 2 weeks. After reaching out various times, we finally had an electrician show up (after many reschedules), only to find out that he needed to then look over the job again to find out what materials were needed. He left after 30 min only to not hear from them again for another few days and multiple re-schedules. When they did show up again, it was a different crew and they were efficient with the install and had the Car Charger mounted and wired up just outside the panel in a few hours. Only to find out from a phone call from Darin that we in fact now needed a new panel to support the car charger install and he would need  more money up-front to purchase the panel and then the remainder after they completed. We paid the additional deposit and then after many more days (and more reschedules) they finally showed up to complete the install. After about 3-4 hours of work, Darin stopped by and shared that they were almost done with the install and in fact no new panel was needed. They did not explain this until after the work was done and did not repay us the additional deposit we gave them for the new panel. Instead, Darin had the nerve to then invoice us more for the work done and said that he saved us money.

I'm still waiting since the middle of OCTOBER for my 5 remaining can light bulbs and a light strip both of which were paid for in advance.  Also a can light was repaired and about 6 weeks later the same can light fell out and I had to pay another electrician to repair it.
I have contacted this business three times and still no light bulb delivery or power light strip.  
I will keep you all updated .................

ZERO stars. Set an appointment with Darin for Friday at 10:00am. He called at 9:30 and said he just saw the apt. pop up and was still on-site at his current apt. and asked if we could move the consult to Monday at 11am. He was a no-show on Monday. @Darin, Don't waste people's time.  So rude.

Asked for a quote for a bath lighting issue...crickets.  Not a good way to start, guys.

Paul and the Common Ground Electric team are so legit. He is honest, trustworthy and really knows what he is doing.

He is doing a bunch of work in our newly purchased older home and does large jobs as well.

I would highly recommend him and his team!

WARNING!!!!  THIS IS NOT THE SAME COMPANY THAT RECEIVED 5 STAR REVIEWS PREVIOUSLY. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY. Look at the google reviews as well. No matter what price you get from them. I probably have more experience than anyone with this company. I have 5 projects with them under my belt. I used common ground twice when Paul was still the owner. Once for my business and once at my house. Both times I received 5 star+ service and work. Paul sold the business to Darin about a year ago. I used them 3 different times since. Twice for my home and once for my business(finishing a basement remodel, installing a Tesla charger and running power for a ton of 3 phase equipment). I got an affordable quote with a promise of a timely completion. Each time the project dragged on for additional weeks with tons of excused for the delays. The last project they worked on for me started in early January 2022. Two months later I had to kick them off and hire another electrician to finish the project. Darin does not know how to manage employees or run this company. This has been the most frustrating experience. One star seems like too good a review. In the end I feel like I got scammed.

They truly suck!  Their guys cannot even troubleshoot what they have wired! Beware before using this company!

In the middle of a remodel and needed an electrician out as quickly as possible.  Was able to have the job completed within 3 days of calling for an estimate.  I called other companies and all were weeks from being able to come out.
Very knowledgeable and completed the job to meet my expectations.
I now have an electrician I will always call when needed.

Used common ground electric and they sent Electrician Femi out. He was communicative and arrived on time! We got our electricity grounded for our new home, and Femi was extremely nice! You can tell he's a good guy because our dogs liked him, and usually they are weary of unfamiliar people. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Paul is incredibly knowledgeable, detail oriented, professional, and our electric project aside, a really nice guy! His team got us on the schedule ASAP, pre-booked our instillation, got all the permits... the project went from bid to instillation quickly, which we needed with an AC emergency. I also enjoyed that I had the option to do everything via text and email, which made communication, scheduling, and invoicing easy and on my time. Highly recommend Paul and Common Ground Electric.

The Common Ground Team was excellent, professional and clearly knowledgeable. Paul the owner talked us through several concerns we had with replacing our homes original 1967 breaker box/ electrical panel.  To ensure that we had power that evening, one if the crew worked until 7:30pm. Not only did they do good work, you could tell that each person on the crew took pride in their professionalism. The permit inspector passed Common Ground's work with flying colors.  We can HIGHLY recommend their services.

I called around for several quotes for a ceiling fan installation. Darrin was extremely communicative, and always responded to my emails and questions. I had scheduled a time to have them come out and put my ceiling fans in and 20 minutes later I had to call and cancel due to an immediate need for my business that called me out of town. I called back later that week to reschedule which was not a problem for them at all. The day of installation I received a call from Darrin making sure the time was still good and sure enough the installer Femi showed up on time ready to install the fans. Femi Was beyond polite, came in and did exactly but I asked him to do with the ceiling fans, made sure that everything was working correctly and even offered to take the empty boxes out for me. When I received the bill, it was for what I was quoted. I would highly recommend this business for anyone needing an electrician.

Have used Common Ground twice now - 100% recommend. He even made an exception for me in a pinch when I had family coming into town and needed some work ASAP. Detail oriented, friendly, communicative - and most importantly - the work they do looks and works great! Will definitely be using them for all of my electrical needs.

Paul was awesome! He slid me in on to his schedule before heading in to the weekend. He was on time, worked efficiently, and fixed our electrical issue perfectly. I'd highly recommend him. I'll call him again, if anything ever comes up in the future!

Wow where do I start. Me being a homeowner I had a long to do list of different projects I had to do around the house. I did like most homeowners do I hired a handyman. He was very nice and a jack of all trades. One of the jobs was hanging my ceiling fan. It took him multiple visits but it was up. As he left I tried the fan and it did not work. He said it was the motor. I told him it's a new fan but he insisted I should look into getting a replacement and requested his payment. I then decided to call Common Ground. Paul the owner picked up. He was so nice and inviting and reassured me that he would take care of it. When the Electrician from Paul's team came he evaluated the job and assessed that he needed to break it all down and start from scratch. That it was poorly wired and a hazard. He took it back to the shop he returned shortly with it prewired and ready to go. It took him no time to hang the fan. I am very pleased. Definitely an A+ job. If you are a homeowner with a long to do list. Hire Common Ground Electric. Paul and his guys will take care of you. Set you up and do the job right.

Paul rewired a funky light switch set up in my home I had recently bought. He worked very quickly and efficiently and communicated clearly throughout the process. I won't hesitate to call Paul again for any future electrical needs.

Paul was responsive, personable, and reasonably priced. He is clearly an expert at his trade. I completely jacked up an electrical project. Paul was very professional about the whole situation. I will definitely hire him again. I give him my highest recommendation!

Paul helped me install two new light fixtures and rewired existing outlets so these new lights could be on a switch. He was friendly, efficient, and did such great work! All for a fair price. Will definitely be calling Paul again for future projects.

As other reviews have said, Paul was great.  A problem to diagnose was kept simple, thoughtful and successful.  Fairly priced, on time, great communication to confirm his schedule.  I would call him again without hesitation, you should too.

Common Ground Electric was responsive right from the start. I sent in my request for estimate from their website form page and they got back to me very quickly. I had priced this job with 3 other providers and these guys came in at a far better price. Sometimes the lowest bid can worry me as there is some truth in you get what you pay for. But these guys delivered A+ service all the way around. They installed a ceiling fan and light with remote control in a room that didn't have an existing unit so the ceiling and wall needed the drywall removed in places and wire needed to be run to the closest outlet power source. They were able to do this and leave no mess and also replaced the drywall pieces in such a way that I myself will be able to easily patch it up with some puddy and a puddy knife. They were communicative, on time, professional, and just downright nice people. Highly recommend.
