Good experience overall in dealing with a stubborn drain clog. The office responded very promptly to a request for a quote over Yelp, and they were able to send someone out that afternoon.

The arrival time was slightly outside the window, but they were apologetic about that. The two guys were very courteous, handled the job without an issue, and were very helpful about explaining what the issue was. They also gave advice that might help us be able to snake it ourselves next time.

When I spoke to the office again to handle payment, I also requested some notes to be added to the invoice for our landlord's benefit, since it sounded like the issue was partially caused by some recent shoddy repairs, and they were super helpful about that as well.

Absolutely unprofessional!!  Do not even bother with this company. Quoted me $150. Booked me from 2-5 today and then canceled and then rescheduled me from 3-5, raised the price and then canceled again.  What a complete flop of a company.

We were very impressed with the responsiveness, flexibility in scheduling and follow through of Troy Plumbing & Repairs employees.  Especially Richie and Junior who did the work at my Mom's home. They were  friendly, professional and helpful. We highly recommend this company.

We used Troy Plumbing for emergency repairs to the sewer line at a rental home. They were very responsive and worked with us to expedite the job since the tenants had to move out. They replaced broken cast iron pipes under the house and a large section of the main line outside, which required tearing up and replacing the walkway. It was a large and expensive job, but they kept in touch daily and answered all of our questions and concerns. Very easy to work with.

Did a great job on my rental in Point Loma!  Bigger job than expected, but they tackled it with no issues.

this was a scheduling and communication nightmare. The plumber said he'd come between 12 and 3PM. My wife stayed home and waited and waited. At 3:40 she texted them to see what was happening. The plumber responded that he had an emergency repair. He could reschedule. When I asked why he wouldn't let her know at least around 3PM that he was running late, he wrote me that he did text her to let her know. But he did not. Not only that, he became hostile and wrote me that if were to write a negative review and he'd lose any customers as a result of my review, he would take me to court.

I never had any contractor ignore me way past the scheduled window and they would always at least say sorry if they were to miss the appointment. And I never have been threatened by a law suit should I use yelp what it's for. Scary times...

regarding the plumber's response, the facts:

I was not rude in my communication despite all the verbal abuse and threats I received. I was professional and civil and factual throughout the entire communication.

Found them on Yelp after another company did not show up to clear my drain and made me waste a full day just sitting at home waiting for them.
My experience with Troy Plumbing was the complete opposite. They scheduled my service quickly, they gave me a realistic estimate and they actually showed up when they said they would.
Once there, they looked at the issue, but also at the possible cause of it.
The fixed the problem quickly and gave me some recommendations on what to do to prevent it from happening again.
They will be my first call next time I am in need of a plumber.

I've had a dripping faucet for over a year and was hesitant to contact a plumber repair due to difficulty in finding a Plumber I could trust. When I contacted Troy plumbing and repairs I was immediately comforted with their communication.
I was recovering from a recent surgery and Greg was very flexible with the scheduling and rescheduling of my appointment. When Richie and Raphael came to the house, they were very professional and provided a thorough estimate. Although it was a little more complicated than I had anticipated, they showed me the work that they needed to do and why. I trusted them. They even sent me pictures from Home Depot so that I could pick the faucet that I wanted to install. Richie and Raphael were wonderful. When they were completing the work, they found a couple other problems with my old pipes and had to make another trip to the store. Nevertheless, they completed the work at the exact estimate that they have provided.

For those homeowners leery about hiring a plumber, you can put your faith in this company. I highly recommend them.

I had a huge sink backup and all the plumbers in the area were passing on the job but Rafa from Troys showed up with a smile on his face and eager to get the job done. I definitely wish I had just called these guys in the first place! They were very quick to respond via yelp or phone and both Rafa and the worker bees back at the office were very respectful and helpful, their prices are also very reasonable. I always feel like I am paying a lot for plumbing services but Rafa walked me through everything he did and I felt like it was a great price.
They also recommended some other work that could be done without forcing it down my throat, which I really appreciated.

My dual sinks were both clogged. They were the fastest of five companies to respond. They did not provide an initial estimate but I went with them anyways because I needed someone fast. I ended up being charged less than 50 percent in comparison to other estimates that responded slower than this company. I am extremely happy with the work / service. They were fast, efficient, and very reasonably priced. Six stars if I could. I will only go through Troy Plumbing for my plumbing needs.

If you want the job done in a timely manner go with another company...We hired Troy's Plumbing to replace a shower cartridge and bath spout. We've had this work done by another company in the past and it took them less than an hour to do the job. When setting up the appointment, we were quoted $105 plus parts.  We had purchased parts already so that wasn't an issue, but made them aware that we were unsure if they were the correct parts.  After our technician worked on the shower for over an hour, he realized the part was not going to work and left to Home Depot.  He didn't find the part there so had to go to a specialty store even further away. It took him over an hour before returning.  A job we thought would take an hour to complete took over 4 hours.  We were unaware the hourly rate of $105 was being applied for our technician to make a multiple store run.  We have reached out to the company numerous times to be refunded for the travel time that was not labor time and are getting the run around.

The plumber they sent was great! They kept in communication with me the whole time to let me know when he would arrive, pricing was more than fair, and customer service was just awesome. My job was a simple toilet replacement and they ensured that the job was done right before leaving. I will definitely be using Troy Plumbing again!!

Came out to fix a drain backup from a shower. Very efficient, friendly, and gave some good advice about the aging cast iron plumbing. Price was very reasonable for a call-out within 24 hours. Spent an hour and tested everything thoroughly. I'm used to tradespeople seeing the zip code and that it's an emergency and quoting crazy prices. Highly recommend.

My experience with Troy was great! With the 4th of July weekend approaching they were quick to respond to a clogged kitchen sink in the high-rise where I live. The guys were friendly and professional taking extra precautions to keep the mess to a minimal with that snake machine clearing the line 50ft into the building and making sure they cleaned up when they doubled checked for leaks after putting my drain lines back together. Two thumbs up!

Our kitchen sink backed up on Saturday after Thanksgiving.  They responded immediately and showed up within an hour.  They could hydro jet to clear the clogged old pipe. He knows what he was looking at and got to work immediately.  Highly recommended!

I had a toilet issue where the shutoff to the wall was leaking. It needed repair quickly to avoid floor and wall damage. After doing some research, and calling for quotes, found that Troy's Plumbing & Repairs had very fair prices and could come out in 2 hours, same day. Thomas came arrived on time, replaced the shutoff valve quickly and the best part was that everything was back up and running in a matter of a half a day, same day. Highly recommend their services and expertise.

These guys made it happen. Excellent service from the management to the technicians( Richy , Rafa and Tim). These guys installed two water heaters for us to perfection ( work ethic beyond standards and everything up to codes). We had a hiccup later morning .... after they had removed the two existing water heaters they had realized I had bought two oversized water heaters (that would possibly had fit in the existing wall spaces but NOT up to codes) for them to install....my fault. Noooo problem for these pros.....They picked up the proper heaters installed them and worked into the night to ensure us hot water that same day. Very pleased all the way around and I highly recommend these professionals to everyone . Excellent management making me feel at ease and what else can I say about the technicians.... outstanding job

Two very polite and professional technicians arrived as scheduled. They wore shoe coverings and masks, both of which were appreciated. They completed multiple repairs over the course of a few hours. A few days later I noticed a couple issues with items that were repaired - one toilet was flushing very weakly, and one faucet handle was turning past the usual stop point. The same technicians came out and fixed everything at no charge. Really great service from Troy Plumbing.

So thankful for the Yelp request a quote capability! It made finding the right plumber a breeze. Filled out the request on a Sunday and Greg responded within minutes and called to discuss our list of things we needed to be fixed/replaced from a garbage disposal to toilet flushing mechanisms  to faucets. All of them were handled in one visit, in a professional and friendly manner. Thank you! We'll definitely keep your number handy in case anything pops up!

Had a bad experience.   Fixing appointment was a bit easier.   The plumber showed up at 1pm. (Appointment was between 12noon to 3pm).  Then was reluctant to do the job.  He went to get his tools from truck.  But was on a call with someone till 2:45pm.  After I put pressure he came in.  Was ready to find some issue of everything.   Wanted to give an estimate of what I do not need.   I had requested him to close the issue and cancel the work.     This may be this particular staff on a bad day.   My entire day was wasted.

Asked about installing a bidet and 3 bathroom sinks. After I showed them the bidets, they just never responded. Would've been nice to understand why instead of being left hanging. Gave them 4 hours and moved on to a more responsive plumbing company.

We needed a number of jobs done all at once when my mother in law moved into a new place. Rafael came out and gave us an affordable quote and scheduled next day work. He and Richard got a new gas stovetop installed, a gas washer/dryer unit plumbed and installed, a new sink plumbed, a new shower head installed, and even gave us a tip about the problem we are having with hot water in the shower stall. It was above and beyond what we originally asked for. They were professional all the while and cleaned up tidily after every job. Thanks, guys!

I had a superb experience with this company.  
I had a huge and time sensitive project; pipes broke under my house, and I was sitting on a pool of water and sewage.  Not only did I not have the use of my facilities, but the smell made staying at home unbearable.

Richard and Rafael came out promptly and identified the problem.   The solution was to pretty much replace most of the pipes under the house (I had other companies come out for quotes, so the assessment was confirmed).  Repairs were going to be costly, but they worked with me to get the price down whenever possible.

As far as work, both gentlemen were extremely professional, friendly and accommodating.  Fixing the problem was difficult (i have a narrow crawl space under the house, so most of the repairs had to be done while crawling around on their stomachs).  They finished repairs in under three days; and given the size of the project, this was a very fast turnaround.

James was my phone contact, and he also did a great job communicating with me, figuring out the least painful price, even helping me navigate the insurance process.

These guys are incredibly reliable and efficient. Never had a problem and would recommend to anyone!

Awesome experience. Provided quote up front. We were fixed into allowing another plumber come to to provide a quote and when he was here he said it would be $585 to change out the garbage disposal. Troy did it for &250! Honest and reliable.

I tried a new plumber because my regular place was closed for a week. I had a kitchen sink that was clogged and my tenants were anxious to get it fixed. They were able to give me a next day appointment and were right on time. It was quoted for a decent price and handled professionally without any incidents. The clog extended to the clean out valve in the garage which looked like that creature from Aliens took a dump in the middle of the night and chased it with a tar covered opossum. Friggin gross. Paying them took a few phone calls but we got that figured out eventually. I'd use them again.

Responded quick on yelp. First to respond. Gave a  quote my text and very responsive to it.  Gave me a two hour time frame to arrive. Due to unfortunate circumstances do to an emergency arrived late but gave me a discount for the inconvenience. Thank you! Will consider them in the future for my plumbing needs.

I hired them to install one kitchen sink and three bathroom vanities together with mirrors. They spend two days for the installation. The 2nd day the crew promised me to be at my place at 9 am but I waited until 11 am and saw no one. Then I called the owner, waited another hour to get a hold of the owner and he said his guys were at my place at 9 but then left. I was home in the whole morning and did not see them at all. When the crews finally arrived in the afternoon, they said they were at another properties doing water restoration in the morning. So the owner and the crews's words were not matching. After the installation, I found one sink leaking and all vanities are not anchored to the wall which can move freely and create safety hazard. Vanity tops are not glued to the cabinets either they just placed them on top the cabinets.  Mirrors are either too low or not centered. Then I called and they came again to fix, but the sink is still leaking after the 2nd time. I do not want them to come again to fix it because I no longer trust them. So I ask the owner whether he can give me $200 credit and got no reply. Just want to provide my experience with this company to future costumers.
----below are my comments to the owner's reply----
1.  I did not let them finish the work the 1st day because it was over 6 pm that work cannot be done in a condo, to respect the neighbors.
2. I was not aware of the whole waitlist thing, if you insist you informed us no guaranteed time, show your evidence. The house was absolutely not showed that day,  who would show the palace with lots of construction going on?
3. I never comment on your crew's nationality, this is an incorrect accusing to me. Only thing I said is he barely speaks English which is true for one of his crew. His crew are actually pretty polite, but not the owner.
4. Never asked them to work for free, given the quality of work, they are over charged.
5. Stop drag my husband in this situation, he is not fully aware of what's going on. The owner never called me to figure out the issue, he always call my husband to try to get away with it because my husband is not aware of the whole thing that he can slip something.
6. When I was not satisfied with their work the 1st time, I said over the phone to the owner:I think you should come over and see the quality of work, then the owner said:I have no interest of seeing that, which shocked me because I never encountered such arrogant business owner before.
7. If you insist on accusing your costumer and cannot take any true and negative reviews, it has nothing to do with me. I paid the contract in full by the way. Again, I have the right and freedom to comment on any business about my true experience on Yelp.

Nothing but good things to say.   Prompt coming out to give estimate.  The tech gave me a thorough explanation of my options and the price was reasonable.   The work was completed as explained with no additional costs.  Cleaned up after the work was done.  All good!

I'm not gonna give a terrible review because they didn't actually do any work but they did/do practice misleading solicitations. I was told $150 and they could be out there the next day for the leak. I scheduled the appointment to fix the leak and then received an email stating the $150 would be for showing up and that $150 would be applied to the total. Guess I'm not getting a quote... Guess they're just gonna fix the problem and charge me whatever they want?  Then they tell me that I'm confused! lol. Yeah, I was confused... Or maybe you were misleading!

Richard replaced my water heater. He was fast and efficient. I received a quote for the install, then a second quote to install a pump if the hot water didn't reach my bathroom fast enough. It turned out it took too long, so Richard came out the next day to install a pump. I felt they were fair and I appreciated the dual quote to save me money, in the event I didn't need the pump. Many plumbers would have just racked it on to charge more money, but these guys waited to see if I really needed it. Thanks!

This 5 star review is specifically for the plumber who came and helped us with our situation, which was just a simple kitchen faucet replacement. After getting several quotes from other plumbers, ALL of whom bloated the price by trying to add an additional & totally unneeded repair (and one who also wanted to charge over $600 for the job! Are you kidding me?! Looking straight at ya, company that starts with a Tar- and ends with a -pee). So we went with Troy Plumbing who gave me a fair price quote online here on Yelp. When the plumber Rafael came out, he was honest and friendly, confirmed that nothing else was needed and he got started right away. He did a superb job, very efficient, cleaned up after he was done, and we are very happy with the install!

Much like how a good honest auto mechanic is hard to find, it's the same with plumbers. When you find a great one, you hold on to them for a long as you can. As long as Raphael is there with Troy Plumbing, I'll go to them every time!

Now, as far as their person who does the scheduling/appointments there, James...he caused a lot of undue stress on the day of the appointment and was very unprofessional. I sincerely hope I don't have to deal with him again, but I won't hold that against this company nor will I let that affect my score because Rafael was just that fantastic!

Richie and Rafa did a stellar job upgrading our old 50's showers with a fresh new single-handle valve. We're so happy with the results and how quickly they were able to make it happen. My Aunt who lives 20 miles away from me and is 83 years old. Heard what she thought was a burst water pipe behind the shower wall.

I placed a call to Troy at 8:36 am. Left message. My phone rang at 8:38 am and I told Troy the story, he also spoke to my Mom.

He called me 3 hours later, after he spent more than 1 hour with my Aunt with an update! Including the well-being of my family!

I had a sizeable laundry room project which involved extending water lines, drain, and gas line, from the garage to the second story laundry room. Additionally replacement of 6 bathroom compression valves. I shopped several quotes and decided on selecting Troy Plumbing because they provided a reasonably priced estimate and had great reviews. Richie and Jr completed my project in two days and did an excellent job. They were both very friendly, professional, and efficient at completing the project.

Just like many of the other reviews, I also had a very positive experience with Troy Plumbing.  Very responsive, showed up in the window they specified, came in on budget and agreed upon price (which was a very reasonable).

I contacted a few others and Troy plumbing was really the best option in terms of willingness to take the job, understand the scope and timing.  I highly recommend Troy plumbing and would use them again!

We were quoted $90 for a same day appointment. We were told that the plumber would come between 1 and 4. We received a text that stated the plumber would be coming at 2:30pm 2:30 came and went, no plumber, no call. When we reached out at 4:00pm texting back we did not receive a response until 5:40pm informing us the plumber who was supposed to come was not responding, which I understand is not their fault, they proceeded to send someone out. He showed up around 6:30pm. We did receive a discount which is nice, but the technician did not have the right equipment to do the diagnosis needed.
Instead he dug a whole in my yard told my fiancé h would talk to his boss and get back to us the next day. The next day came and went. I sent an email and still haven't received a response. As I wanted written documentation at this point. Mean while we were gathering quotes  to get someone to come out again since the first attempt was not helpful. Troy plumbing had the nerve to respond to the quote request stating they could send someone out same day for $70. Nice consistency guys. Overall super disappointing especially since we had another company come out that fixed it in an hour, and by the way that was a same day appointment as well. Of course it was two days after our initial attempt since Troy plumbing didn't pull through even though we gave them the benefit of the doubt to call as promised. Biggest waste of $75. Especially since I had to pay another company to do the same thing, but much better. Absolutely will not recommend Troy plumbing.

They were First to respond! Very informative and knowledge. Explained everything they were doing. The visit was only an evaluation of the problem. We haven't completed the job yet but when we're ready we'll definitely be calling Troy Plumbing to return and complete the job.

Had a problem getting hot water in my kitchen sink. Came out very promptly and were done in under an hour! Hardly knew he was there I would recommend to anyone anytime.

We used these guys to install a new sink in our bar. They responded quickly and had someone out to do it the next day. Work was done in 15 minutes! Super!

Had a water leak from above my ceiling. Turned out that an existing metal banding had eroded away my hot water line. They responded and came the same day. It was late in the day so they had to return with materials the following day to finish the job but they got the job done. Thanks!

I was unable to have my new washer installed because the cold water valve was frozen.  Of course, this happened on a weekend!  Troy Plumbing had Rafael at my home first thing Monday morning.  He had to go pick up the part, but he had it installed and working in record time, allowing me to meet my daughter and granddaughter for a much needed girl-time movie.  Good job!

Troy Plumbing was great!  When I had a really bad clogged drain in my mom's 1960's home, they responded right away and was very prompt in setting up an appointment for me.  The plumber that they sent (Abraham) provided a great explanation on what was wrong and provided a solution very quickly.

They were on time and finished the job within an hour!  They were also very fair on price.  I felt that these guys were a reliable resource for anyone with any plumbing issues, and I would use them again in the future.

I'm now a fan of Troy Plumbing.

I had a bathroom back up situation in one of the units that I manage and Thomas came out to handle the situation same day!
He kept me updated throughout the whole process which was much appreciated. He snaked the line initially but was unable to clear the clog fully due to the angle of the pipes and where the clog was sitting.
He returned the next day, just as he said he would to clear up the situation. He had to cut into the wall of the bedroom to access the piping.
He was very thorough and professional.
I would love to work with him again for future plumbing issues!

I saw the reviews and went ahead to call these guys to fix my clogged sink drain. They cleaned out the P trap and subsequently tried to clean out the kitchen in line. However, the clogging issue was beyond just snaking and required a hydro jet, which they didn't offer but were quick to suggest a reputable company. These guys ended up not charging me for their services because there was the persistent clog. I have to say, these guys are honest and really easy to work with. They were quick to respond to my job request and knew their limitations of their services. Most of all, they didn't charge me the slightest bit for them coming all the way to try and fix my plumbing issue. I can hardly believe that there are many services like this still in existence. I really recommend these guys and their exceptional service. If there is ever a need for me to ever reach out, I will call without hesitation.

Troy sent me an estimate of work for shower tub and vanity install. After installing tub, they stopped work and tried to increase prices. They charged me for more work than they did. I already paid them. I have been calling for a receipt and no response. They also put non-stainless steel screws in the tub and I had to get them replaced. I could have had rust stains. I tried to contact them but they've not responded on multiple attempts. Initially, the workers were nice and claimed they could do it all but then they would say it's up to the boss. I ended up spending double to get plumbing done bc I had to go through two plumbers to finish a job. I will be reporting them as I never received an invoice and completed work.

The company showed up during the time frame.  They were nice and did good work.  One of the nice things were they tried to keep everything as clean as possible. They vacuumed and cleaned up the mess.    In my experience with plumbers, this is rare.  Thank you.

I was incredibly impressed by Troy Plumbing. My original request was for them to assess the bathtub drain due to sluggishness, but I decided I also wanted them to check out my other drains for slight sluggishness (not completely clogged). Their quoted timeframe was that they would show up between 2pm-5pm. They texted me that they were on their way around 1pm, so I went to my leasing office around 1:15pm to grab them a parking permit. I found out they had already gotten there, requested a parking permit themselves, and were planning on just waiting until 2pm; they just wanted time to make sure they were in the right place, since I live in a very large apartment complex. They didn't expect me to be available until 2pm, but I waved them in. They assessed my garbage disposal, bathroom sink, and bathtub drain. Offered to fix the breaker on the garbage disposal for free since it would take only a few min, and quoted me $125 for clearing the bathroom sink and bathtub drain. Extremely transparent pricing.
They even taught me how to clear the bathroom sink in the future if I wanted to do it myself, since usually stuff just gets stuck at the top and doesn't require a snake.

In the end, they saw that the garbage disposal actually was getting very corroded and will require eventual replacement. They gave me the pricing if my landlord ends up deciding to replace it, but also offered some tactics to avoid clogging it more if my landlord opts not to replace (avoid grease, run hot water once a week, use the other sink that doesn't have the garbage disposal).

Super professional, in and out in by a little over an hour. They were super nice and polite, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would not hesitate to recommend them and will be calling them for any future plumbing needs.

Quick response time- got a message back from them less than an hour after requesting quote from Yelp. They did have some sort of scheduling mixup and didn't show at the scheduled time, but got back to me right away and do the work and pet replacement for free! That's the kind of service that will bring me back next time I run into plumbing issues

I tried out the Yelp request a quote and was put in touch with Troy Plumbing.  The customer service was absolutely on point. I appreciate the level of communication provided to ensure that my needs were met and the expectations were made clear.  My kitchen pipe was corroded and the faucets needed to be replaced.  They were punctual, professional and made the whole experience easy.  Highly recommend Troy Plumbing again.

I called several plumbers.  Troy was excellent in response time, transparent pricing, completion and follow-up.  Erica is the office manager.  She was courteous and responsive to my questions.  Erica was clear that the hourly rate was applicable, but that the time involved could be more or less than the quoted amount.  Abraham, the tech, arrived timely and provided clear and practical guidance and advice.  Abraham completed the repair in a timely fashion and left the property in clean and useable condition.
