I was born and raised in Firenze, Italy. At the age of 15, I began my apprenticeship with my father in his plumbing company, subsequently becoming a member of the family business.
Our work consisted of putting in the plumbing and heating systems for newly constructed buildings, remodels for existing buildings, installation of gas lines, water lines, water pumps and all manner of plumbing service and repair work.
I moved to San Francisco, California in 2003 and continued working in the plumbing industry in the Bay area. As of March 2012, I am a licensed plumbing contractor for the state of California.
I take great pride in my work, and believe in working with passion and getting the job done correctly. I respect my clientele, work quickly and neatly, and strive to give the best possible service to everyone.

Our hot water heater died very early Saturday morning. Francesco returned our desperate message by 8 am, and came to trouble-shoot that afternoon. He thoroughly and clearly explained the problem and the options for fixing. He returned first thing the next day, Sunday, and replaced the heater quickly and neatly, for an extremely reasonable price; I don't think he added anything for working on a weekend.
Francesco was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. I will recommend him to all my friends without reservations.
I highly recommend Toce Plumbing. Francesco is very friendly and reliable. Great work!
Like a lot of others that have posted reviews for Toce Plumbing, 5 stars just isn't high enough praise for this company! I truly can't say enough about Francesco and Toce plumbing. His attention to detail, work ethic, professionalism, communication, knowledge, temperament and personality just can't be beat. He took care of our home while working, protecting the floors and furniture, cleaned up after himself so well it looked better after he was there than before, and left us with exceptional craftsmanship.
We had Toce Plumbing do a variety of items for us in our new house: new tankless water heater install, new sink install, new pot filler install, new filtered water tap install, change tub to shower/tub combo, and other smaller items. Everything went perfectly. Francesco gave us frequent updates, asked questions, made suggestions, and the outcome was exactly what we wanted.
I can't recommend Toce enough. Don't look any further for your forever plumber!

I had what turned out to be a minor plumbing issue caused by my lack of knowledge and fear of making an error which could turn into an emergency involving adjacent neighbors. So I called and discussed the issue with Francesco.
Francesco generously carved out time from his busy schedule to help us in person. He has a generous heart and is compassionate. He's committed to professional follow up and support for his customers. I appreciate his business attitude so much. If you're reading this, yes make that call. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp's top score of 5 stars just isn't enough to express how pleased I am with the work Francesco did when he replaced my hot water heater in my home! He delivered excellent quality in every aspect of the job, going the extra mile to make sure he does the best he can. He told me he's only happy at the end of his work day when he knows he did his best.
Boy, oh boy, he's in a league of his own when I compare his work to other plumbers I have hired over my long life.
But that's only half of the reason for my 10 stars. The other reasons are related to the kind of human being he is, and the respect and care he shows for his customers (and I suspect all of the people in his life). He's so much more than other trades people who want to maximize their profit and couldn't give a damn about how they do it or how they talk to you (or worse never return your calls). Francesco always and promptly returned my calls and messages.
The way he interacted with me before, during, and after the job, with clarity, fairness, authenticity, empathy, and competence all contributed greatly with my 10 stars and customer satisfaction. I will always call on Francesco for all of my plumbing needs, and recommend him to my friends and neighbors.
Folks, he's the real deal with his old school professionalism and deep knowledge and skills in his field. And he's so interesting to talk to about his life's journey!
We found Francesco through Nextdoor when I put out a request for recommendations, and he responded that he was in Italy visiting family, but would be back soon. If that's not an A+ for responsiveness, I don't know what is. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting him as I was at work when he came, but my parents who were around during his work said he was on-time, professional, efficient and friendly. So delighted to have found a great plumber in our neighborhood!

Francesco took the time to explain the plumbing situation and the work that was needed to resolve the problem. He explained the choices that were available and their corresponding costs. He patiently explained options as far as plumbing fixtures and allowed time for me to choose.
He was organized and thorough.
I was particularly impressed with Francesco's diligence in working until the whole job was complete.
I would certainly not hesitate to hire him again!

We've worked with Toce Plumbing a few times so far, from inspecting/fixing a small leak to installing a whole-house water filtration system. Francesco is an expert in what he does and can always be relied upon to give honest recommendations that suit your needs. He communicates well, shows up on time, cleans up after each job, does excellent work and is reasonable with his quotes. I cannot be happier with his service!
Francesco is extremely kind and knowledgeable. I manage a restaurant in Uptown Oakland and we were constantly having to call plumbers to unclog toilets, fix issues of flushing or water coming out from the bottom. None of the plumbers we've called got down to the root cause of what was the issue. Francesco was the only person to remove the toilets and give an analysis of what is going on.
Turns out the toilets were installed poorly and incorrectly. I have yet to have any issues (which I usually do after someone else has attempted to fix the toilets) He does great work and is easily reachable! Great with communication.
Francesco is amazing! Very sweet with my dogs, honest and a great communicator. Wore a mask daily and was respectful of my home. I had him re pipe the whole house to copper from galvanized steel, move the front and back yard spigots so I could reach them easier, install my new comfort height toilet and fancy Korean bidet, change the utility sink faucet and add a hand sprayer so I could easily wash my dogs. My old toilet had been installed wrong and was constantly backing up, I had to flush multiple times and plunge daily! The new toilet works like a charm! Francesco made sure I always had water every evening when he was finished for the day. Kept me updated daily with what he did that day, and what the plans were for the next day. All of the work took less than one week! The old pipes were disgusting, he showed them to me, so clogged up and rusted inside. I have water and ice from my fridge that I use daily. The old ice was cloudy, I had been using this ice and water for years, running thru a filter, I thought it was fine. My new ice is beautiful and clear! I didn't know how gross the old ice and water was till I saw the new ice. Freaks me out to think that I and my animals were drinking that nastiness. I highly recommend getting copper pipes! Call Francesco!
Hired Francesco to replace a water filter in my boss's water filtration system, which sounds easy but isn't. He was thoughtful, detailed, and efficient. Great work!

We love our new laundry room! Francisco installed a gas line and hooked up our new stacked washer/drier.
The cherry on top though came after he pressured tested the system and found a leak in our old house. We hunted down the issue to an ancient valve used in supplying the gas range. I can't believe we've had it silently spilling gas into our kitchen the entire year we've live here, and that the old owner didn't spend the $10 to replace it when purchasing the range!
Francisco's work is very neat and he takes a lot of care to keep the area looking good.

Francesco is considerate, conscientious, creative and affordable.......he called me back every time he said he was going to; he showed up ON TIME every time he was scheduled to (except once when he had a radiator problem with his van......BUT HE CALLED TO LET ME KNOW! YAY!); and he was willing to problem solve a situation that needed his expertise and experience providing options so that my housemate and I could decide on which approach suited OUR needs and finances the best!

Francesco came out when he said he would to look at the mess another contractor did to my bathroom. He was efficient and knowledgeable! I now have a hot shower and no more leaky drain! He also installed a gas line for my new gas fireplace. Francesco is the best plumber I have ever had the pleasure to work with!

After reading a couple of the Yelp reviews and seeing the photo of the friendly-faced plumber, I messaged Francesco with a couple questions about his availability and rates and he was very helpful and responsive. After three back and forth messages through Yelp, I didn't end up hiring him. The next morning he sent me a message chastising me for being rude because I didn't confirm with him that I wasn't going to hire him. As I always do when seeking this type of service, I contacted several plumbers via the Yelp messaging service and I ended up hiring a different plumber whose availability worked better for me. I don't agree that I need to confirm my hiring decision with each of the plumbers that I didn't hire. No appointment was set, no agreement existed. This behavior is similar in my opinion to road rage, Francesco is out to correct our manners one non-customer at a time. Again, he seems like a really nice guy based on his reviews and the preliminary messaging so I'm adding a star. I'm also a stickler for proper manners, so I did apologize to Francesco for offending him. I'm sure you'll be happy if you hire him, just but be sure to mind your manners.
Francesco is above amazing!!!! If I could give him more then 5 stars I would gladly do it!
My contractor who was supposed to do some work for me in my back yard blew me off more times then a cheap hooker. Francesco is the most amazing plumber I have used while living here in SF since 2000. He's consistently punctual, is a great problem solver, he's smart, uses his head and and gets the job done. All for a very reasonable price.
I had a drainage problem in my yard (vines got into the drainage pipes and backed up the system). He came to the house and discussed the options (I was throwing him some curve balls that he figured out but none of the other plumbers I had called on could come up with a solution I'd be happy with) understood what needed to be done and then came back and fixed the problem. He did exactly what he said he would do and in a timely manner.
I can now put my backyard back together again after months of it looking like a disaster area because none of the other plumbers seemed to know what they were talking about when I queried them about possible solutions.
I'll be using Francesco as my only plumber now that I feel like I've found the one and only.

Just purchased our first home and really needed to upgrade the gas lines to install a couple of appliances and add a seismic auto shutoff on the meter. After getting estimates from 4 different plumbers, no one came close to Francesco. Not just in price but also in quality of the work and timeliness. Francesco was prompt, courteous and helped us understand what needed to be done to prepare for the new appliances and any future additions. When the plumbing inspector stoped by to sign off on the job, he complimented the work that was done and assured us that we had hired the right guy for the job. I am glad we worked with Francesco and will definitely contact him for any future plumbing needs.
My family and I are so grateful for Francesco! We had a terrible gas leak under the house. PG&E shut down all service, leaving us without hot water or a stove. The emergency repairs required replacing all the gas plumbing before PG&E would restore our service. Francesco came to the rescue. It was not an easy job because the house has very little crawlspace. He worked tirelessly under the house for days. He also took care of all the permits with the City and scheduled the inspections. In less than a week, the repairs were completed at an affordable price and service restored. Thank you, Francesco!

Francesco was great! He was easy to set up an appointment with and texted me updates on his arrival time. He diagnosed the problem with my kitchen disposal/air gap in 30 seconds and fixed it pretty quickly. I highly recommend him!

Francesco did a great job of repairing our broke shower valve. He provided a reasonable estimate and was able to complete the job in a short amount of time. He worked cleanly and even took his boots off before entering the house. (Others who came to quote on the job didn't even put booties over their shoes.) We love our new shower hardware. Can't recommend Toce Plumbing highly enough!

Amazing service! Francesco arrived at my door within an hour of calling to save me from having to go all of New Years weekend without my kitchen sink. He was very professional, kind and friendly. Our pipes are now shiny and new, a relief to have them in perfect working order. Reasonable prices and stellar service. I will never call another plumber. Toce plumbing is the best!

Francesco helped with a fairly minor problem, but was timely, competent and pleasant. He was willing to pursue either of two solutions to the problem for the same price, even though one would take quite a bit longer (though the quick solution was probably the better one). He also was happy to chat about the roots of the problem and get into as much detail as I wanted.

We called many plumbers and Toce Plumbing was the only one to call us back and fit us in his schedule. He was really a gem and went through the whole house with my husband (not just where we had a problem ie husband tried to fix a leak that went really bad). He came back the next day and fixed all of our issues. Definitely recommend and will be callling back if we have any plumbing needs in the future. (This is our second plumber we have used since moving to Oakland and by far he was the best)
If you are looking for an amazing and honest plumber, look no more! Francesco was on time, efficient, and was able to help me with all my plumbing needs! I won't call anyone else but Toce Plumbing!

Francesco was the only one who agreed to fix the leaking faucet vs replacing it with a new one. I really appreciate it because it was really difficult to find a replacement faucet of right dimensions. Francesco was prompt, corteous, and did an impeccabble job. He responded quickly to email/text inquiries, which made the process easy. Highly recommended!

I hired him to fix a mess left by another plumbing company when they tried and failed to properly install tankless water heater at my home. After this first company screwed up, I talked with 5-8 other vendors to make sure not to repeat that mistake. Was very impressed when Francesco came out to give an estimate. He was very patient and frank/honest with me about realistic options (repairing the first plumber's mistake or starting over). Very knowledgeable and great problem solver.
I was not disappointed when I hired him. Francesco has a really impressive work ethic. He has the technical knowledge and experience (unlike some of the other vendors who send out technicians who don't actually understand the mechanics / technology of tankless water heaters).
Francesco takes pride in doing the work well, solving problems elegantly, and making sure his work looks good as well, even if it takes more effort. He was very conscientious of the budget/estimate and scheduling, and did an amazing quality work at a reasonable price. I know I will be calling him first for any plumbing job that I might need in the future.

Can't say enough good things about Francessco and his work. He handled all the work for my kitchen remodel and replaced old tank water heater that was under house with new tankless. He prices are reasonable and his work first rate. And always a pleasure to deal with.
Francesco was amazing. I highly recommend him. I got a total of 9 estimates. He is a star and stood out from these many people. He was extremely honest and I really appreciated all of his insights on the job. He installed a new gas line for me and it looks great. I talked to so many different plumbers and contractors and I was shocked about how many horrifically inflated their estimates were. Some plumbers wanted to make the job hugely complicated just to inflate the cost. I feel sorry for folks who pay these inflated estimates. Francesco is fair and honest, something that's rare to find these days.
We had guests staying in our apartment. And predictably the toilet clogged on a Sunday. Francisco answered the call for a last minute plumbing crisis.
First off, he surpassed my very low expectations for a plumber. Which merits a five star review alone, given the state of the market. His quote was totally reasonable. I knew I wasn't being gouged. And he showed up right on time.
He's a consummate professional. He communicates and explains the problem to you as he works, so nothing is clouded in mystery. (No pun intended. Really.)
But he went above and beyond. Not only did he unclog the toilet, but he informed me about a number of issues that were preventing my pipes from working optimally. He did not attempt to upsell me on the fix and I learned a lot about how to get things working correctly. So while you may not be able to afford the Cadillac renovation, he knows you still need working plumbing and makes it happen.

We had a leak in our basement, discovered on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunate timing. We called maybe 25 plumbers, and Francesco not only returned our call (he was the only one who did), but arrived promptly and completed the job efficiently. He was pleasant, communicative, thorough and professional. We will definitely call him again!

Called them on a Sunday morning about a broken garbage disposal. After hearing the symptoms and how it broke, he talked my wife through how it's likely just jammed and a $3 disposal wrench could fix the problem on our own and spent about 5 mins telling her what to do so he could save us some money and a trip. Sure enough, it worked as a teaspoon was just jammed in there and perfectly working disposal again! Thanks again - would definitely call again when we have plumbing needs!

Francesco is your plumber to call. I've never encountered a contractor with as much attention-to-detail, knowledge, and professionalism. Francesco does everything by the book and communicated frequently to provide updates on our project. We had our whole house repiped and had him replace the existing water heater with a tankless one. He is a one-man crew that delivers clean, code-approved results.
After Francesco was done with the repiping, we decided to work on a bathroom remodel so we had him hold off on our final plumbing inspection (until we finished our bathroom so everything could get signed off with one visit). At one point, we had a freak accident where one of the pipe fittings had burst, and it soaked our crawlspace (luckily we caught it early). We told Francesco, and he came by the next day to fix it. We were expecting to pay him for fixing the problem, but he didn't charge us a dime! It wasn't even a problem he could've controlled; he did everything correctly (the inspector signed off on his spectacular work) but this freak accident occurred and he still took it upon himself to fix it, free of charge. That really helped us out and shows what an honest and professional guy that he is. I highly recommend him.

Francesco Toce is very kind, professional, quick, and affordable. My toilet broke at night and the next morning he showed up bright and early! My toilet is better than it was before. It's like I have a completely new toilet. He took the time to explain everything to me, how the toilet broke, and how to fix it. I highly recommend him.
Excellent service, good price. Francesco installed a heat pump water heater for us. Gave a bid and stuck to it. Knowledgeable and willing to explain what needed to be done. Put in extra effort to ensure good earthquake bracing rather than just a few screws in an old wall. Cleared out unnecessary pipes from our old gas-fired heater. Worked late to ensure we had hot water that night. Left our furnace room clean. We're happy.

Good experience. Knows the business well, explains everything, doesn't up-sell, explains everything & then asks you what you want to do after options covered. I'll repeat service because of the honesty here.
We hired Toce Plumbing to install a complex washer/dryer hook-up for our new house. He was very responsive and came out to do an inspection ASAP. He emailed us an informative estimate within a couple days, (which is something we didn't find customary amongst other local plumbers). We hired Francesco to do the job and were very impressed with his level of craftsmanship and care to every detail of the job. His availability was also great and he was able to complete the job within a week. He even came back a few days later to professionally install our washer/dryer system to ensure everything was working. We feel very confident that the job was done well. His estimate was accurate and he was very easy to work with, knowledgeable, and we would definitely recommend him to any of our friends.

Toilet suddenly broke one evening and he was able to come over in less than 45 mins! It was a quick fix, and reasonably priced for something so last second. I will definitely be calling him next time i have a plumbing issue
We recently moved to our first home, a cottage built in 1911. In order to fit a washer/dryer into our house, we had to tackle the expense and task of installing a tank-less water heater. The home also needed all new hook ups for a washer and dryer.
Francesco was quick to respond to our request for an estimate. He didn't flinch at the task to work on a quirky space. He gave us a very reasonable estimate. He handled all of the permits. Fit us in to get us up and running for an approaching move in date. He was flexible in coordinating with PG&E and our electrician. He discovered a slight leak on the PG&E side of the meter, pulled dangerous pipes running to a gas fireplace (not part of the original job), and ran new pipes for our dyer from the meter. He also worked a very long day at our home to get a very tricky dyer vent hooked up (it was a serious pain and he hustled working overtime to get it accomplished).
At the end of it all, we got an approved inspection by the city on the first go. Couldn't ask for anything more!
Francesco is also just a nice guy to coordinate with. He has incredible work ethic which we really appreciate.
We highly recommend Francesco!
