From a referral of a friend, I had dealt with the Fred the owner of Star Rooter in October of 2015. Our 71 year old terra cotta sewer pipe was cracked, full of roots and going nowhere. His estimate for replacing it with the trenchless method was good and timely. We had to leave town the day before Halloween when he and his men came. My knowledgeable next door neighbor observed the work for us while we were gone. The job was done right with all permits, and finished in one day while we were gone at the quoted price. I should have written a YELP review back then, but I did recommend him many times to people I know.
So last month when we needed to have all of our 73 year old galvanized water pipes replaced all the way from the street, along with the water heater, we called him again. The first day they replaced the water line from the street to the house. On the second day they did everything else. We were able to stay in the house during the day (with bottled water) and had full use of our water over night between the first and second day. This was a lot less inconvenient than we expected and the price was very fair. They showed up when they were supposed to. Fred was warm, friendly and easy to talk to. I will continue to recommend him to anyone and everyone.

I asked for sump pump ejector inspection and to get a couple other things fixed. Guy who came was a total joker. Said they don't do sump pupm ejector inspections (daaahh, ok, then why'd you come??). On my dishwasher, he told me something (air gap) would have to be replaced, which was totally not the case. I say thanks for coming by ....bah bye

I had a fantastic experience with Star Rooter & Plumbing Inc. !!! I dealt with Juan and he was extremely professional. The crew showed up on time, and replaced my sewer line in 2 days. They dealt with PG&E and all the permits. With the large crew and equipment, they were able to get the job done quickly and professionally. There were issues with the plumbing under the house which they did not charge me for, just included it with the original quote. Juan also had a mason come out and replace the portion of the brick driveway that had to be cut out. I highly recommend hiring them, several of my neighbors also hired them to replace there old clay pipes as well.

My bathtub backed found Star Rooters number from their truck parked at Home Depot. Technician came within an hour. Checked job and gave estimate for $125. OK and he worked on it for about 45 minutes. could not fix the problem and he ended up charging me $80. gave some recommendations and estimated $650.00 to fix the problem. I thought this was too much and went back to Home Depot and found jobless handyman in the parking lot to get second estimate.He worked on it. bought a $5.99 part and got it fixed in an hour. charged $150. The issue was this house was built in 1958 and this was not the first time a bath tub was backed. Was cleaned previous times and now a so called reputable company says the plumbing was not done right and wants to fork out $650.00 for a job got done in $150. Lesson learned. When they come out they can still charge you even if they don't fix the problem. Beware

Fuck these guys. Just a call for a sink clog with auger, shows up $125, about to get started, $145, final paperwork he puts in front of me $185. When I try to say wtf you've changed price 3 times oh I had to go in your crawlspace that's why it's more expensive

We had an emergency plumbing problem at 9:00 pm on a Friday night. Star Rooter and Plumbing answered our distress call quickly, they had a plumber on the way to our house within minutes, and the service they provided was superior. Henry, our plumber, was courteous, responsive to our requests, and very professional in his work. He solved our problem (in the dark and the mud) with ingenuity that comes from experience. He also made us feel as though our issues were of the utmost importance to him. The price we paid was very reasonable given Star's rapid response and Henry's goodwill and expertise.

i had a problem with my whole sewer line it keep backing up, so i called star rooter and plumbing and a lady by the name Mary answer and she was really nice n i explain to her my problem n she said she could send someone in 45 minutes. 45 minutes pass by and the plumber arrived on time his name was Fred he was really nice n friendly guy . i told him what was the problem n he looked where the problem was n after couple of minutes he told me what was the problem exactly n how much it would cost i thought it was a reasonable price compere to other plumbers that had giving me other estimates. i would use them next time i have another problem .

This the worst plumber company ever, the do half a** work and then if they say they do something then when you try to call them they dont answer, Juan the owner is the worst business man to deal with. I asked him if he call pull 4 water heater permits for me & he said sure no problem, waited for about a week nothing was done called him again and said he had the permits he can email them to me I told him no I can come and pick them up from his office then he said wait let me see if anyone was there he never called back, the next day I called him again no answer then i call his office told the lady there that he said to call this office if its an emergency she said she doesnt know how to get a hold him, after leaving 7 msg on cell his he finally answered my 8th call and told me that he didnt get the permits yet that he will do that now, told him dont bother I will have someone else pull the permits then asked him about the other situation that he sent his guy out to check the water heater for my other tenant and he said that we needed a new water heater, told him that can not be right, told him do not bother putting in a new water heater because nothing is wrong with it, and sure enough I was right, the same guy that is pulling the permits for us went over to check the water heater and all he had to do is change the gas valve, the water is only 5 years old and its a good water heater.

WHOEVER IS PLANNING ON DOING BUSINESS WITH STAR ROOTER YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL, THEY ARE GOING TO TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED IT NEW WHEN IN FACT U DONT! VERY SHADY COMPANY!

We've lived at our current home since 2004, and have had a variety of water issues during the last 18 years. Leaks in the ceiling, cracks in galvanized pipes underground, clogged drains, sewer main replacements, you name it, we've had it. I'm proud to say that Star Rooter has resolved every one of our issues. Over the past few years, I've been working with Jose's son Alex. What I really appreciate about Alex is that he's a creative problem solver. He continues to work the problem, provides possible solutions to us, and then attacks the job. He's always looking to provide a range of cost options, as well as his point of view on which one he recommends. It's important to note that he doesn't always recommend pursuing the most expensive, but rather the option that maximizes spend & value over the life of the repair.

We haven't felt the need to look for any other company when we have a plumbing repair. We highly recommend Star Rooter.

Star Rooter was who we chose to replace our sewer lateral, and I cannot say enough good things about them. Our line had been backing up since last November, but we stalled having it fixed because each plumbing company that came out made it seem more daunting (one said we could do trenchless, one said we couldn't, one bid was way too low, one way too high, etc.) We had no idea who to believe, or the best way to tackle it. Now that we have a baby on the way we couldn't avoid the problem any longer.

Having received bids from other companies, it was immediately obvious the level of competence Star Rooter has. They didn't send out a junior person for the estimate, but an expert (which is what I believe is needed with such a huge job). Juan showed up with the proper equipment to diagnose, he clearly knew what he was doing, and summed up in less than an hour the problems we had and the methods we needed to use to solve them. I was SO RELIEVED to finally have someone at my door I trusted.

Long story short, they replaced our line (trenchless) for less than the other companies, got the job done in one day, and I am confident it was actually done right. We couldn't be happier.

P.S. For those who live in Union City, Star Rooter takes care of the required bond and permits with the city so don't feel pressured by other companies to do this yourself!

We called them for a main clean out and for a main sewer line that was giving us problems. Roy came out quickly and gave us a reasonable quote and replaced the line within a few weeks later. They cleaned up after themselves and even added color to our concrete we had to unfortunately cut open in our porch to do the sewer lateral. They were fairly quick and we are hoping to have no more issues for many, many years! If we ever need plumbing related things in the future we know who we will call. Thank you!

I knew that my sewer line is bad and was waiting to save money to do. I had two people come over to give me estimate. Was really expensive just to replace them from the side walk to the street. When star rooters give me their estimate I really didn't believe it. The changed my sewer line from the middle street to the main bathroom ( almost 65 feet) with of half price of what the other wanted.
The way they doing is great. I am not advertising for them

CV has sewer lateral replacement program and there was just one spot left otherwise I will need to wait for the following year to get a grant (that is if the budgets gets approved), I called them up to get an estimate and video inspection as soon as possible to get my application in...I spoke to Fred who was nice enough to tell me just tell me when and I'll be there. That just shows what incredible customer service they have. In short, I got the final spot for this years grant program because of their prompt reply.

They came last week and these guys did an amazing job replacing my sewer lateral. I'm usually get antsy with repairs and stuff like this but Star made everything so easy.

Anyway, thank you Fred and Joe...rest assure I'll refer you to all my neighbors and friends that needs good plumbers or new laterals. ;)

Our bathtub drain was plugged and called Star Plumbing about 3:00 and told that they would arrive between 5 & 6. We were okay with that. We received a call from Roy stating they would be here @ 4. Sure enough Roy showed up had drain unplugged in 15 - 20 minutes.
Excellent service. Excellent communication and most of all very reasonable price.

Saturday night (maybe 8:30 pm) my downstairs drains started backing up. With sewage in the tub and seeping out onto the bathroom floor, I needed help, and fast. I called Star Rooter and they came in about 30 minutes. The plumber, Paul, was great on every level. I admire people like Paul who do things right. The problems were more complex than just a stuffed drain, and Paul patiently and insightfully figured them out and fixed them. He was at the house until after midnight, and would likely have stayed all night if necessary. At the end, the drain was clean, and the bill was more than fair.

Let's face it - emergency plumbers have you at their mercy. Paul could have just snaked the sewer lateral, charged me a bundle, and gone home. Instead. Instead, he worked tirelessly to get to the real problem, and charged me honestly. I was also impressed how clearly he explained the problems, and how cleverly he diagnosed the issue. I would trust Paul and the folks at Star Rooter with any plumbing work. These guys are the best.

I want to give credit to a family owned local business where credit is due!! First, I want to thank Felix and Fred (in the picture) for their professional attitude and prompt service. Now, to tell my tale of woe. I live out in San Lorenzo Village so naturally looked to STAR Rooter because they are local and the addresses on their web site are near my home. Last month we had unusually heavy rains in a short span of time and our old house to street sewer line settled and shifted and dirt got in through the seams of the old (70 years old) ceramic pipes. Therefore we had brackish water backed up to our house drains. That was NOT a good experience. I won't give you the details except to say that Felix came out within an hour of being called and used a high pressure hose to clean the sediment of the pipes. He then scoped the pipes so we could inspect their condition on the monitor. The misalignment and cracks were clearly visible. Verdict: The pipe needed to be replaced or else we faced another backup in the near future. They would need to be replaced sooner or later so we opted for sooner so we could sleep well at night (and flush when we got up in the morning). They gave us a great price (well below the franchise sewer service everyone knows about) and scheduled us for this week.

They told us they would be here by 0730 and unlike most every other contractor, plumber etc. I have dealt with, they actually showed up early (by 0715). They had their equipment out and were set up and ready to go by 0830. Two holes were dug -- one in the yard and one across the street at the sewer connection. By 1100 they had the trenchless replacement sewer installation ready to go. By 1145 the replacement pipe was installed and all that was needed was to complete the backflow plug and access plugs. The cleanup and inspection was done by 2:30 p.m. Other sewer companies take two or three days (I know, I watched them do the neighbor last year).

For those who don't know trenchless means they don't have to rip up your landscaping and sewer pipes can be installed by being pulled through the old sewer pipe and destroying it in the process. There are many youtube videos on how this is done..

Sewer pipe replacement is something most of us will need to do sooner or later. If you live in older housing (like I do) it will be sooner. Even if you live in housing built in the 70's or even 80's you can expect problems eventually. When the time come, I would highly recommend STAR Rooter. You can go to their website and leave a message about your problem. The dispatcher (Mary) will contact someone who will call you and schedule an evaluation and estimate within an hour. I unconditionally recommend them. I couldn't be happier. I will post pictures as soon as I download them.

I lost a ring down the drain. And called the plumber to have them fish it out. They came out the same day, and arrived earlier than planned. They gave me a call before they arrived.

Sadly my ring was not recoverable, but they were thorough and even did a Camera search to see if it was further down stream. And while they were here we had them fix a leak under the kitchen sink. They had to run to Home Depot nearby to get an additional supply, but they were prompt.

Ten years ago, and six thousand dollars later, I had my sewer replaced by a contractor who now has a suspended license and is facing charges with the State contractors board. In the last moth or so I was experiencing sewage coming up in my lower level bath, flooding my carpet, and after some camera inspections, was told that the sewer lateral that was installed ten years ago had flawed connections in three areas. In other words the connections were not made correctly and had collapsed, consequently sewage was leaking into the ground, roots were finding their way in, and causing major headaches. Needless to say FRUSTRATED hardly described how I felt after paying to get this work done ten years ago, and having no recourse. The incompetent plumber was out of business, so it wasn't hopeful that I could find him! The city of Oakland had permits for this work incidentally, and passed the connection in the street, ( one of the faulty connections shown on camera) so there you have it!!!
No choice here, the work has to be redone!!!
I chose to use Star Rooter and Plumbing owned by Fred Ramos. They provided an estimate in a timely manner, and Fred's price was fair in comparison to the two other bids. On the day that work was started his team were on sight preparing the street for parking and traffic flow, fifteen minutes early by the way!! The staff were courteous, efficient and the whole process went so smoothly, The permit was pulled, the inspection was arranged, and everything was done in one day! The certification was made available the next day, and we can move forward. We now have a working sewer and a guarantee.
I can honestly say that Fred Ramos and his company take great pride in what they do, and I would highly recommend him. By the way, he is always available to answer all your concerns and questions, you can actually speak with him.

Thought I had a leaking pipe in my ceiling so I had requested a quote via yelp Monday afternoon. Alex had reached back out to me and had scheduled an in person estimate for the following day. He was able come by sooner than expected and upon inspecting our shower, quickly determined there was no leaking pipe or water damage. I own an older building in a commercial district of Oakland that has had sewer problems for many years. During bad years I would need to call a rooter company 4-5 times to clear the lines. Finally it was time to break the bank and replace the sewer laterals.
I called three different companies to get estimates. Only one would come out to do an estimate and camera the line at no charge. The other two wanted $300-350 to do the same and would only offer to credit the charge if I did the work with them. So I called some more and got the same response except for Star Rooter and Plumbing. They were more than happy to come out to evaluate the job and accurately diagnose the problem by visually inspecting the lines.
Julio and his assistant arrived promptly and did the camera work. It was difficult to see clearly because of all the debris in the lines but it was determined that there were breaks, off sets, and poor sloping in the sewer lines. He had to make another trip out to reevaluate the special issues from the side walk area to the main City line in the middle of the busy street.
I finally got three estimates and decided to go with Star Rooter. Julio explained the problems and how to solve them. Some of the work was open trench but primarily trenchless. They were very accommodating in scheduling work hours so that there would be minimal disruptions to the tenants in the building.
The upper laterals were completed without complications but the lower lateral from the side walk to the City main was very difficult because of utility lines and concrete encasements. They were finally successful after three time consuming efforts to connect the line.
I highly recommend Star Rooter and am very happy with the communications I had with Julio and Fred, the company owner. They are on my list to call first with any future plumbing issues. Great Job!!!

I recently had to hire a plumber at my mom's house. She had a pipe break in her front yard under a cement walkway right next to the EBMUD meter.
The first plumber came out and confirmed the leak, but declined the job because she has 60 year old galvanized pipes throughout her house. From what I was told it's difficult to tie in a new copper pipe into the existing galvanized pipes.
I then talked to Joe Ramos of Star Rooter. He met me at my mom's to evaluate the job. He was extremely professional yet personable. He said the biggest issue is there is 60 years of build up (rust) in the existing pipes and the increase of water flow from the new pipe may cause rust and debris to break free and clog the shower head or faucets. We appreciated his candor BEFORE replacing the broken pipe. We chose to go with him.
His crew was great! They are super hard working and extremely good at their job!! Instead of breaking up the entire walkway they chose to run the pipe in an opposing direction which resulted in only breaking up a 2ftx2ft section of concrete. They dug a trench (40ft L shape) to lay the new pipe and put the grass back so it looked pretty undisturbed. Additionally, they noticed that her sprinkler system pipe had a crack in it near the the main pipe and replaced a 2ft section for FREE!! Lastly, when they tried to tie into the existing main pipe that leads into the house the pipe disintegrated in a couple of places. They replaced the main pipe which required several hours of additional work without ever increasing their quote!!

I was about to check yelp for a plumber and I found a coupon in the yellow pages. Stupid stupid stupid. Why didn't I check the company on the coupon in order to not waste my time. Dang! Now I see the horrible reviews and the same thing just happened to me. Juan came and introduced himself after I got a bid for 80$ to clear our main over the phone from somebody else. The price seemed a bit too good to be true. Again I should have checked yelp. For some reason it took 3 guys because before I knew it there was three of them. After trying to snake the drain for 15 minutes Juan came back and talked about too much toilet paper at the problem area and he'd need to blow it out with pressure. Being that I have had my main snaked before I had a feeling that it didn't make sense. He said he usually charges 300$ but for a special price because he is already here I could have it done for 175$. I might be wrong about this but I believe the service of clearing the main should be one all inclusive price. I told him to get off of my property. He kept trying to talk to me about how he tried his best and he's sorry etc etc etc. How unprofessional can you be? There was no written paperwork from the jump so I knew I wasn't under obligation to pay him for the 80$. Again I told him to quit trying to talk to me about how he's my friend and his special deals. What a slime!!!! What happened to the good old days where someone comes over and tells you the price up ahead and then explains possible price increases should something come up ahead of time. The only other thing I can say is thank god he is such a bad salesman, the quote changed 4 times, I saw him coming from a mile away. Pathetic. Save yourself a headache and hire somebody honest and decent.

Fred from Star and his excellent crew just finished a trenchless sewer line for me today and earlier this week they stubbed in the plumbing for a toilet in my laundry room. They were on time, extremely efficient as a team, and cleaned up beautifully. Very reasonable. If you want to know it's done right, Star is the company. Very personable as well. Star Rooter is great!! Last week we called them because of problems with the toilet. They were great in locating the problem (a broken pipe from house to main). We thought this was going to be such a hassle, getting permits, etc but we didn't have to do anything, Star took care of calling PGE to mark the gas lines, they got the permit, they prepped the area and then got the work done the week after when they got the permit, It was done in hours. Julio was great as well as the crew. They were all courteous and polite and cleaned up after. Thanks so much Julio and crew!!

Needed to replace a leaking water tank that was paired with another--despite a 100G setup, I was having problems with a lack of hot water.

Fred and his team did a great job replacing the bad tank and also figured out that the plumbing between the 2 tanks was wrong! With the work done, everything is now working great.

Many plumbers have a bad reputation for high prices and suggesting unneeded work. Not so for Star Plumbing!

Juan Gutierrez, senior plumber, was on time, investigated the problem and came up with a solution that fixed my drains in a couple of hours. During the inspection, he found a series of pipes that had a labrynth of twists and turns and suggested replacing them with direct connections that should eliminate clogs in the future. He also installed a cleanout line that lead to the street.

The entire job was very reasonably priced! The work was done in a few hours. They cleaned up all areas before they left. As with any repair company or contractor, you need to ask all your questions and know what the job should cost before agreeing to a price. If you don't know, get a 2nd opinion.

A few months back i had a blocked sewer line and i called a few plumbing companies to come and diagnose what the problem is and give me a quote.
Star Rooter was the first to show up and there were two guys. They told me they will need to drop a camera in the pipe to see what the problem is. I agreed, later they said i have to pay $275 for the service. I was surprised since i was hoping to get a quote and not a bill. I asked them why am i paying when the pipes are not even fixed, they said they will flush air down the pipe to clean it which they did and the blocked pipe was fixed.
At the end the problem was fixed but i felt that i was forced into a service.

I am a general contractor for 26 years. I have hired dozens of plumbers over the years. Most of them good people.
I was at a friends house when he called Star Rooter. On the drive home I thought of the best way to describe them: Predators.
I have met some before, construction attracts them. Your drain is plugged, you are needy, vulnerable, and they know it.
They quoted us $80-$120.- on the phone. The two guys show up, look at the kitchen drain and quote $125.- Right there my alarm bells go off. This was as easy of a job as it gets but maximum price plus $5.- A piece of drain pipe had to be unscrewed for him to snake the drain. He refused and asked me to unscrew it (????? he is a plumber) Alarm bells. Heated words, they threatened to leave. My friend asking them to please do the job, worried he be without a kitchen for the weekend. They left.
So we decided to try ourselves. We got a snake, pushed it down, drain cleared.
It took less than 5 minutes. Saved $125.-
Read the other reviews please and maybe ignore the convenient cluster of 5 star praises that appear after a serious of disastrous reviews, I believe they are fake.
I own a small business. The last thing I want to do is hurt another one unjustly, but
I can only imagine the damage these people are causing.

Happy with the price and the service.
I was a landlord in Oakland and owned a number of rental properties. I called around Oakland/San Leandro & talked to various companies to have the sewer lateral line replaced. They were either too expensive or unwilling to commit to a date/time. Finally, I talked to Felix at Star Rooter.
I have now worked with Felix from Star Rooter 6 times in the last couple of years. Every time, Felix has come out to the property & given me a quote on the cost via text. (no misunderstanding/changes on the price when it's in writing). Once I agree to the price, he gives me a date for the work to start & puts out the construction signs the night before. The work starts on time & the job site is cleaned up when they're finished. He emails me the compliance certificate from EBMUD & I pay him.
When I went to sell my own house, there was no one else I'd call to do the PSL work--Star Rooter has just completed the 7th PSL line. No complaints here.

I had a great experience with Star Rooter. They were recommended to me by the facilities guy at my work and have exceeded my expectations. I contacted them because my condominium association (4 units/2 buildings) needed to have both sewer laterals replaced.

Luis Arechiga came out and scoped the pipes showing me along the way what the issues were. He provided a very fair quote in a day and the work, including scheduling inspections by the city and EBMUD, was scheduled within a couple weeks of our signing the proposal. Luis was extremely polite and kept me informed of what to expect the day the work was to be done.

Luis came out to place no parking signs a couple days before work began. On the day of the project Luis and team arrived promptly when they said they would and they got right to work. I stopped by midday to see how things were going and was impressed by the amount of work and the thoroughness and efficiency in which it was being done.

Work was done promptly by 5pm and the inspections passed easily. When I can home from work that it appeared they had never been there. Everything was cleaned up and put back neatly into back place. Concrete was expertly replaced where it had to be cracked up to access the pipes, sidewalks were swept, and the holes in the street were repaired.

I highly recommend Star Rooter and won't hesitate to contact them in the future should I need their services!

We used Star Rooter and Plumbing when we had a sewer back up. After seeing that Start Rooter and Plumbing was Diamond Certified we called for them help us with our back up. Maria assisted us on getting a crew out to our home within hours. It was greatly appreciated since we could not use our toliet. We were told the crew would be her between 2 pm and 5 pm. Jose and his helper arrived at 4:30pm. They cleared the main and then scoped the main with a camera. We were able to see how well the drain was cleared. Great service and very nice customer service. We've had a sewer line break that came with the house. We went around for quotes and Julio gave us a one that was $2k less than everywhere else. Super professional and quick, they took the time to get the permits and let us know a week in advance what day they would be coming. With social distancing in order, Julio kept in contact over text other than to sign the contract.

I wasn't that pleased with the service. They did send out a guy right away but he forgot his flashlight and forgot to measure the shower drainpipe he was supposed to replace, so he had to go back to Home Depot to get the right size. I also had an old utility sink faucet that was dripping and it would seem a leak would be simple to fix, but it seemed to he had to replace the entire faucet all the way back to the pipes. He left a big mess of plumbers grease all over the faucet joins. He also did the video camera thing down my drain line even though I had told him to stick with just the work I hired him to do. He spent a 15 minutes with the camera thing recommending I replace the entire pipe from the house to the street.

The next day my shower was draining much more poorly than before. I called Star back and asked them to send someone different. After 2 hours I got a phone call back from the supervisor, Juan, who asked me how much I paid (as if I had not paid much then maybe I wasn't worth returning to?) then in a VERY aggressive tone demanded why I wanted someone different. I said the plumber seemed inexperienced, and Juan agreed Oscar was inexperienced, but said that legally he had to send the guy back to fix it. I have no idea if this is true or not. (Edit: I've learned it is NOT true and Juan's a friggin' liar.)

So the young guy came back (over an hour later than scheduled) and said hair in the shower P trap was causing the slow draining, and that I should have it snaked out. I passed on it, and instead fixed it myself with Drano.

I feel like they're trying to get you to spend money on them rather than helping you save yours. I feel like I paid of lot of money for not that much work, and I didn't like the supervisor's attitude at all.

A pipe broke inside a wall on a Sunday afternoon. Water was streaming into the lower level. Had to turn off the water to the house. I called Star Plumbing because I had used them for prior sewer lateral replacement. They responded and Leo was there within the hour. He assessed the situation and had the old piping replaced with new copper an hour later. I'm sure that I paid a pretty penny for emergency service, but I was really happy to have the problem solved quickly.

When I call a plumber, I'd expect a few things: that they fix the problem they were hired to do, they will be professional and courteous, and they will be fairly-priced.

Star Rooter was courteous at times, but was none of the other things.

Here were the problems:
- They had to come back a second time because they didn't fix the clogged drain they came to fix.
- They also didn't lift the machine that pumps the drain when they went up and down my carpeted stairs, so they chipped part of the wooden floor at the top of my stairs.
- They also broke my waste disposal when they were under my sink, which later we discovered it was from them bumping off a tube, but they refused to fix the problem they caused. When I said he can't create a new problem without trying to fix it, the plumber said to me: I am only here to fix your sink, not your disposal!
- Other plumbers I've worked with try to protect the floor in front of the sink, but Star did not even remove the floor rug. Everything was stained black after they left, and I had to clean the carpets, rugs, hardwood floors. The mess they created was shocking because they only needed to take a little more care in their work, which would've prevented a big mess for the customer.
- The price was easily 2-3x more than other plumbers.

I will not use Star again and don't recommend them unless they retrain their plumbers to not cut corners and do a more professional job.

I needed to have my sewer lateral pipes replaced as they were old and broken. Paul and the team gave me a good and fair price and were willing to match any lower bids I got . The whole job was seemless they came in the morning and were finished on time . I have had occasion to use Star Rooter for several issues ranging from a broken outdoor spigot to a tree root -ruptured water line to the house. Each time, Fred has responded quickly and has been able to complete the repair in a timely manner with professionalism and courtesy.

Star Rooter is our go to plumber . Specifically Juan Gutierrez and his crew. Always prompt, polite , and honest. We bought a 60 year old house not knowing what had been updated . Unfortunately, you find out when it breaks down. The first time we met Juan and his crew , was when our sewer line had to be replaced. We were stressed and frustrated with another plumbers work. Juan was calm and took command of the job. His confidence and communication skills calmed our nerves. The job was done fast and efficiently.

Most recently our water main broke . Again Juan came to the rescue. He explained what was necessary , got the permits that were necessary and was able to provided water to the house while waiting for gas lines to be marked . Job was done under time estimate .

I used star rooter and plumbing on 2 occasions, first time they were very professional. They fixed our toilet and it never leaked again, hence the second extra star. Second time was very disappointing. They took 3 days to 'find' the part for my broken shower faucet, and then 'fixed' the part that holds the faucet in place but that only lasted for a week and fell off again. We went to Lowe's ourselves and found the right parts instantly and now our faucet is fixed! It was a very standard, American standard cartridge! We were charged $200++ for them to not really fix anything and we fixed it ourselves in under $20...

Fred came out to our rental to help we weren't able to clear the clogs in both bathroom sinks. Came when specified (no waiting around) and was good at walking me through what he was doing as well as what he was seeing. Extremely transparent and professional. Had a drain issue overnight and all the 247 plumbers did not call me back at all. As soon as Star Rooters opened the following morning they scheduled someone out to my place within 30 min. I have used Star Rooter twice now. Both times they were able to come out that same day and within the specified time frame.

They have fair prices, especially considering that other plumbers I called in to tried charging me double what I paid with Star Rooter.

My only complaint is that they could be more thorough. I had a pipe with a small leak and they came out and thought they fixed it, luckily we double checked before paying and noticed it was still leaking. They ended up fixing the issue but luckily we were cautious enough to check because their warranty is limited to 5 days.

I am extremely disappointed in how they handle and treat their potential customers. I am a property manager managing tenants' expectations. I called the day before to schedule an appointment in which they promised to send their technician within a 4 hour time frame so I explained to my tenants that someone from Star Rooter & Plumbing will arrive between such and such. My tenants waited over 4 hours and not only did nobody even show up but the fact that I had to initiate and reach out back to them to ask about the status and then to be told, We don't have anybody available. Don't make a promise if you can't deliver. This is like over-promise and no-delivery! It's fine if you have to break a promise but at the very very least have some common courtesy and common sense to initiate communication back to the customer early in advance to let them know that the technician won't be able to come out to the house instead of making people just continue to wait without giving them any heads-up notice making the tenants extremely furious on why they had to wait so long and for nothing! This is very bad business practice treating people like this and if this job is too small for you guys then you're not going to get any future business opportunities.

I am having a French drain redone by Van Every Construction, when the lateral clay pipe connected to the sewer started leaking. The job was scheduled to be completed on Monday and I needed the pipe fixed before they could continue. I was going out of town Tues for a few weeks so time was of essence. I was in dire need of a good plumber who can come out on a weekend. I called one company from Yelp Fri night. He told me to call him back in the morning at 9 AM to get his schedule. I had to work during part of Sat so had to move things around to be here.

He had to come back twice to do the estimate. I wanted an estimate for just fixing the broken pipe but they wanted to do the whole house with sewer compliance. Way beyond budget, both in time and money and I pretty much spent half the day waiting on this estimate.

I went back on yelp and called Star Rooter at 6:30pm and left a message with their voice service. Guillermo called me back at 7ish and was on the property at 7:30pm. He was very polite and courteous, saw the leak right away, and said he needed to come back with a camera to ensure where exactly it was leaking and what to replace.

He said it was $150 for using the camera but that fee would be waved if I did the job with them. He told me that it would be $1600.00 for replacing the pipe and he could start at 8AM SUNDAY and be done in a 4-6 hours.

Guillermo showed up at 8:19AM with a colleague (which I consider very prompt for plumbing appointments) and texted me that they were here. I really appreciated that he texts. Explained everything in simple terms and was done by 10:43 AM! I went for a walk with the dog so didn't get his text about him being done. Very Sorry to make you guys wait for me!

He was conscientious and considerate and was very careful not to mix the dirt with the rocks from the French drain and he communicated about each step and new adjustments.

After the job was completed, he said it was $1800. I think the pipe required might be longer than expected. I reminded him that he said $1600. He said normally it's always $1800 for 10 feet pipe replacement (mine was 12 ft) but he will honor it since I heard $1600.

I really appreciate Guillermo's integrity in honoring the initial estimate, courtesy and professionalism. Their rates are also great. Their team was an absolute pleasure to work with.

When I have any other plumbing issues, I will be definitely calling Star Rooter.

Woke up this morning to their team about to jackhammer within 5 feet of my 50th Anniversary Edition GT Mustang without any barriers. That's the kinda work this team does, not even the people they were doing the work for knew they were onsite at 8am. When they came to scope the job they blocked my driveway with their truck so they already knew I wasn't very happy with them then they made this move making me 20 minutes late for work because of unexpected musical cars. And as I was trying to move my cars they were trying to jackhammer and I had to tell them to stop cause I was still moving cars. So I called their main office and it turns out you can only talk to them if you are really nice and not angry about your morning being completely screwed because of their lack of customer service or consideration. That's the kind of service you get...as long as they are getting paid they don't care about anyone or customer service.

I am not one that writes reviews as I generally give word of mouth. I felt I needed to pass along my experience with Star Rooter and Plumbing San Lorenzo , CA . I called for service on Saturday 10/08/16. Promptly I received a call from lead plumber to ask what was needed and to identify who he was and arrival time. Julio Solis was lead and had one coworker with him. They were professional , courteous and clear on what they felt needed to be done. There were a couple of issues needing to be fixed including replacing junction of main line to house and install a clean-out. Fast , concise and thorough. Price quote and final were more than reasonable.Never at any point did I feel a upsell was attempted or suggested. In my opinion work performed was what was needed and everything done was available for inspection. For my money it could not have been done any better. I am just a ordinary Moe but do have quite a few life experiences involving repair work for various things. . Comes with age :-). In my humble opinion Julio and his team are highly recommended from my experience. They were everything I could have hoped for in hiring out to do work on my home. Outstanding service. By the way. Worst freaking unprofessional and asshole I've ever encountered!!! First they don't even come the first day and waste my time, then the second day they show up waaaayyyy after the scheduled window agreed upon. Then their people text me and lie to say they are here when they are not, they show up with a bad attitude and track freaking mud or sewage with mud or whatever disgusting things are on their shoes. When I show them what they are leaving all over the floor and ask them if they have those shoe cover boooties, the fucking jackass gets even more of an attitude. He claims he'll clean it, when I question if he has non toxic floor cleaner, a vacuum and mop on his truck he starts with that jackass attitude again and says you want me to do the job or not!!! I told him to put those booties on their feet, he says the same thing again so I repeat myself too. By this time this dude needs a punch in the face, so I tell him to fuck off and get the hell out!! Can't believe how unprofessional this company is, never in my life have I had such a horrific experience. Thanks for wasting two days of my life and dirtying my son's floors where my granddaughter walks and plays on...assholes!!!

Eric Gonzalez of Star Rooter is a super star! My basement flooded on a Saturday night. None of the companies I called were available so we managed to stop the water and waited for the morning. The next day was Sunday, Mother's day and I thought we were doomed to only find over-priced, emergency service. I called Star at 9am and they were here by 10. I have an old house with an in-law unit in the basement. All the plumbing is down there including a pump that pumps everything from the upstairs and downstairs through it. Not only had the pump stopped working which was the main reason for the flood, but there was a leak coming from my bathroom upstairs. Eric was able to clean the pump to get it to work again and fix the leak from my bathroom. Being a woman who knows nothing about home maintence I live in fear of being taken advantage of financially when I have work done on my house. Great experience with Luis and Star Rooter. Happened to see him down the street and asked for a quote on a whole house replacement with copper. Luis wrote out a detailed description and reasonable price, set up a date, and showed up on time with crew. They put down rug runners to protect the flooring inside and immediately got to work. At the end of the day, all galvanized had been removed, new copper in and braced correctly, and all work areas cleaned up.

I have done quite a bit of construction myself so it's great to work with someone who is reasonable in cost, responds promptly, and knows his trade. I highly recommend Luis from Star Rooter.

We needed our sewer lateral fixed to be in compliance. I was referred to Star Rooter and Plumbing and Felix came out to perform the job. Felix was very professional and accommodating to our schedule. He stopped by late at night to do an estimate and early morning on a Sunday to help evaluate our plumbing situation. Juan and Fred are solid guys who know what they're doing, and do it well. I
had a catastrophic sewer lateral failure, which my plumber of 20 years was
unable to clear. Picture a bubbling pond of sewage. He referred me to Star,
and they came out right away. It turned out to be a tricky problem as the line
ran in an unexpected direction for a good 100', rather than the more
reasonable 40' run one would guess from above ground, and being an
apartment building, there were multiple connecting lines feeding the lateral.
It took them all the equipment and manpower to finally get the line running,
and after closer inspection, it was clear that the line as is was not
salvageable. Pipe bursting was not an option as a long forgotten repair had
been made with a length of duct iron. Fred and Juan navigated the city
permits, including some one-of-a-kind requirements, plotted a new, shorter
lateral line, and completed the essential work in 2 days. They were always
clear, on time, transparent, and the work their teams did was solid. I would
unreservedly recommend them for any major project.
As another plus, after an unexpected rain, it turned out that they missed one of the downspout to sewer connections, resulting in a lot of soil getting washed away. I called Juan at noon, and they were out by day's end, reconnected the downspout, and backfilled the hole. Impressively responsive.

Called Star Rooter & Plumbing on a Saturday afternoon because 2 of our toilets kept getting plugged up. I was told originally that they were booked up and couldn't send someone out until Monday. My elderly mom lives in the in-law next door and I said it was inconvenient for her to have to come over to use our toilet especially at night. The gal on the phone was really helpful and she said she would call me back. Within 5 minutes I received a call back and she told me she can get someone over between 6:30-7:30pm. At 6:45pm, Felix arrived and he accessed the issue and gave me a quote. We agreed on a price and he was able to use his high pressure sprayer to unclog our pipes. He had this nifty computer that is attached to a camera and ran that line through about 100' and can see all the way through our pipes that it was clear. He was really nice and professional and explained why we were getting the clog. Also said there is a 30 day warranty for the work that he did. I would highly recommend and use them again.

Was referred to Star Rooter from a contractor friend regarding our sewer line being backed up. Called Alex in the morning and he and his crew came over in less then an hour. He said that it's most likely a root from our tree and he confirmed it when he ran a camera to inspect it. Gave me a quote (I received two other quotes and he was the lowest of the three).

They were able to start work on it the next morning. But before starting the work, he gave me two possibilities and the worst case scenario came true. They had to replace the sewer line as the roots have fully invaded the line and they had to go trenchless to the main city line. This process took a few weeks as they needed city inspectors to come out and Alex was in constant communications with us. He said that we can still use the water and if anything backed up (which it didn't), to call him and he would be out within an hour.

They came back on the date as scheduled and they worked from 8AM to almost 6PM to finish up the job. I would recommend Alex and Star Rooter without hesitation.

This team was absolutely AWESOME... my water line broke over night ( I had to shut water off at the main) so had to wait for Star to come the next morning. Request for quote was quickly responded to and when they got here they checked out all water lines around and under my home. I was considering getting two more quotes but I knew the labor would be tedious and I was shocked at the quote!! I told them to go for it. Four hours later the job was new water line was complete and concrete was patched. They did a spectacular job backfilling, patching concrete, cleaning and grading. If I could give him a zero star, I would. AVOID Star Rooter and Plumbing, unless you like to be taken advantage of and made to pay more than the estimate. They are dishonest.
Got an estimate for a sewer lateral and they tried to charge us about $1500 more during the job on some b.s. that the pipe would not go all the way back to our property line. What was the estimate for then?
At the end, he finished the job, but we ended up paying more because they are dishonest. Go with someone else.

Felix and Fernando came over to my place to fix my house sewer lateral. I had recently bought the place and the EastBayMud sewer lateral service test had failed.
These guys are knowledgeable, fast and professional. They came in, did the test, very quickly found out that there should be a problem with my cleanout. They were able to get it fixed, ran the test and voila, it passed.
A week after that day EBMUD staff came in and issued the certificate.
Felix was kind enough to use a colored powder in the conc. they poured on my driveway to match it well with the existing concrete.
Long story short, these guys will be my go to folks for plumbing issues. each out to them, you won't be disappointed.

Paul Castillo and his crew were amazing. They showed up on time, were communicative of the process, and did good work. Their pricing was very competitive with other plumbers as well.

They replaced my main water line; ripped out my old rusted galvanized pipe and replaced with a brand new copper line. They efficiently completed the job in two days - 1 day to break concrete and install the copper line and 1 day to re-pour sidewalk. The concrete sidewalk pour was very professional and they were careful enough to match the pre-existing look. Very happy with the team's work.

Paul Castillo arrived with his assistant and was very easy to work with as I explained our issue with a potentially faulty pressure regulator and request to replace with straight pipe after our household water pressure assessment. No hard upsell, just patient guidance for the current work and useful information in case we need them again in the future. We had 3 estimates done and they came in the cheapest. Not only that, it was clear they were honest and reliable. He didn't want to quote us for work that didn't need to be done and told us what he thought was reasonable or not. Our neighbor also saw that he was helping us out and said that Star Rooter had helped them too and were able to finish in good time and did solid work.

We ended up changing our entire galvanized pipes to copper and also replacing some of our drain pipes and also added a hot water faucet to the outside of our home. He had quoted us a certain price and then charged us less because it came in less than he thought so he's clearly honest.

About 8 guys came in and finished the job in just a day instead of the 1.5-2 days that was quoted by other people. There were a lot of people but doing work but they were not intrusive and very efficient. Aside from them having to come back to fix a dishwater usage issue, which they did right away, our experience them was A+ and they were very professional. Glad we went with them for this important hike project. Our drainage and pipe system works smoothly now and we can see why they are a premier plumbing service in San Lorenzo and San Leandro .

The sewer line from the curb to the main sewer line in the street was broken and clogged with roots. This had been causing multiple back ups into the bath and shower. Alex snaked the line so I could see where the damage was on their camera. This provided limited use of the plumbing while he could fit the repair into his schedule. He got an early opening and was out the next day with his crew and heavy equipment. He provided a copy of the permit and the work came with a 2 year warranty. Alex was professional and friendly. I thought the price was reasonable given the size of the job. I would definitely hire him again.

We had a pipe leaking under slab. It was a terrible ordeal for us, two insurance companies, neither willing to pay for what needed to take place before the leak could be repaired. After talking to neighbors it made more sense to repipe our home. We shopped around, first quote was extremely high, but my husband found Star Rooter and Plumbing in the yellow pages. They are Blue Diamond Certified.
This company, Mr Luis Arechiga and his crew were excellent! Outstanding! Not only did we get a reasonable price but the service and quality of work is superb! This crew of 5 reported on time, kept to the schedule, and their skillful work was neat, not messy. When the work was done, they left their work areas clean. They vacuumed, double checked everything to make sure the plumbing worked as it should. I must say, this crew truly respected our home. As a thought, this crew enjoyed working together. This was evident during their lunch breaks, you could hear the good natured laughter. If we need other plumbing services, we will be calling Luis Arcechiga again. I would like to highly recommend Star Rooter & Plumbing, Inc. if you need your lateral line replaced. These guys were organized from the start. They were efficient with their time and cleaned up after themselves. Did exactly what they promised, left no mess and came in under the low bid since we didn't end up needing to replace the connection to the sewer line! Just all around good people. From the start, Juan walked us through the process and let us see what the issues were with our 70-year-old pipe. They replaced our lateral line using the trenchless method. So glad we finally bit the bullet and called them! They are in demand and it took us two weeks from the diagnosis to the pipe replacement, but Juan came out to ensure our pipe got us by until we could get it replaced. Call them!

We had a mystery leak under our new bathroom sink that we installed (DIY). It was intermittent and I was afraid it would ruin the new vanity if not fixed.
I finally had to call Fred at STAR ROOTER AND PLUMBING, who had put in our new hot water heater a few years back.

I had a water pipe break and had to shut off the main. The galvanized pipe was old and Felix recommended we replace with copper pipe. He quoted me over the phone and true to his word showed up and fixed it the next morning. It was approximately 35' of pipe and took a few hours but it was done and done well. I will not hesitate to call Star again for my plumbing needs. The other emergency plumbing companies I called quoted way more $ and/or were to busy to come out for my emergency.

I will not describe to you the issue my rental unit was having, other than to say it was nasty.
I called my regular plumber but he was in Tahoe and could not help. He did however recommended Star Rooter & Plumbing and specifically told me to ask for Fred.
I called and asked for Fred and proceeded to described the situation to him. He came out promptly, diagnosed the problem, and told me how much before he began to fix it.
He got the issue resolved and gave me some advice on how to prevent future problems. I asked him who his Boss was so I can tell his Boss what a great employee he is. To my surprise, Fred is the owner. He laughed and said owner operated means owner operated.

My kitchen sink was backing up when I used the the disposal . I took it apart and found the line plugged. I had no way to clean it. I had previously called a Diamond Certified company who came out, took a look and said they would call me the next day. That was 10 days ago. I called Star Rooter today and was given an appointment within the hour. Felix showed up within the hour and was able to unplug the line and attach a fitting to make it easier for me to do in the future. He was done in 45 minutes. The disposal works great. Paul Castillo of Star Rooter and his men saved my life and did an amazing, excellent job. PG&E came over when I smelled gas and they could not find where the leak was. PG&E turned off the gas and told me I needed a plumber to fix the leak. Because of the cold rainy weather, Paul came right over, as soon as he could. They came over on a SUNDAY, spent hours and hours here putting in new gas pipes, The house was built in the 20s and even I could see how corroded and rusty the pipes were. I clearly needed new pipes I was amazed at how hard they worked. They stayed here until the job was done. I had heat and hot water when they left.
They were very reasonable and beat another estimate I had by $2,000.00!!
I can't recommend them highly enough. They were here so late and worked so hard, I wanted to tell them to go home, it was soo late. They wouldn't stop until they were finished!!
If you need a plumber or some rooter work, don't call anyone else!

We had a good experience with these guys. We were gathering quotes and not only did Star Rooter provided the most affordable option, but their customer service was great. We didn't feel like they were trying to take advantage of our desperate situation (our main pipe was messed up and nothing was going down the drain...). They said work can be done in a day even with a permit, which we were skeptical of. They arrived on time as promised to start work, walked us through what needed to get done, and finished everything by 5PM. We were shocked because it required permit to get the job done but Star Rooter had everything aligned and scheduled to ensure work gets done as promised and all the moving parts were in place (including city employee visiting to get permit done). It was a nightmare dealing with non-working pipes and it was such a pain using our parents bathrooms the next city over, but we were so happy everything was fixed and things resumed normalcy after a day's work.

Thanks Star Rooter for coming to our rescue! We saved some $ by going with them instead of other plumbers.

We are first time home buyers, and bought a home with the pipes under the slab and of course we end up with a hot water leak. My 8yo son discovered the floor was really warm, and ultimately found the leak.

Fred was very professional and scheduled the next Saturday to have a full crew to run the pipes through our walls. He came in competitive in pricing; considering the services they offered that other didn't. He was $900 more, but like my gramma always used to say; if you go cheap, u will end up spending more money in the long run. I could hear her voice in my head as we reviewed the quotes. The extra $900 was for the wall and ceiling retexturing. No other plumbers provided that service. We had over 8 guys on a Saturday; promptly arriving at 8:30am and left at 5pm. The boys quickly set up, and put plastic in the living room, and cleaned up after themselves. We were sooooo impressed at how quick and efficient they were.

I believe he may be the only plumber that will cut out Sheetrock, replace and texture. I found this a necessary service, and was sure glad we got it all done in one shot. Although they don't paint, it's ok. We can do that.

Fred and his team did a wonderful job and we sure are happy to have hot water again.

thursday, toilet got blocked due to wife dropping a hair tie made of cloth n elastic in toilet while flushing. it started major blockage in 2 toilets and a shower., that was friday nite 10pm. did some research online n found some but decided on star rooter cause of awesome reviews (thx e1) in couple of websites. how reasonably quoted price and how honest, professional,courteous they are. they all were right on point.
i got a quote over d phone (they stuck to it). To make long story short, after job got done, Luis gave us advice on how to maintain and condition of pipes. highly recommend them incl Luis (specialist/senior plumber), and his crew + they're 24/7.

It's a NIGHTMARE we've never experienced! It must have been our bad luck, seeing quite a few good reviews??
We were stranded with water being turned off for a whole day and NIGHT. The technician said he needed to leave and find the parts. While he was with us, we overheard him on the cell sounding like he is picking up some additional business. We called every 2 hours to see where he was. He must have gone on a world tour, Hayward, San Francisco....OR, working on another job now that he had us in his pockets. He promised he will come back and turn the water on but we never saw him by the end of the day. We had to find some means to wash up and brush our teeth that night like a refugee. Will we use them again? Guess!

We had a semi emergency that occurred over the weekend, a outside pipe that was leaking. So I emailed them and Juan came by Monday morning to assess and give us a quote. Two hours later they began work. We had to have the main water pipe redirected from the water main into the house, so we had trench digging, new pipes, new concrete and a new water valve put in. They worked until everything was back on and working, almost 10 pm! Was very impressed with the professionalism of the team, they even did a pretty good job of cleaning up after themselves, considering it was dark out. This all happened yesterday and so far we are happy with the work that was done and how the workers conducted themselves. If anything changes, I will add it to this review. Cost was a bit high but at least i didn't have to wait another week to get the work done. We live in a 61 year old house/subdivision and this issue has been ongoing with everyone else here as well, old pipes/old house.

Very good experience with sewer line replacement. From estimate to job completion was great. When we decided to replace sewer line with trenchless method we called for estimates with local area plumbers. My job delivering in San Leandro and San Lorenzo allows me to see what companies are constantly called for services. Among the most popular is Star Rooter and their trenchless pipe replacement. I was pleasantly surprised how great the estimate was for my situation. Once we decided to schedule, Juan handled all permits and 811 stuff.
All in all the process took less than my work day.
Once I arrived home they showed me the clean out and back flow prevention device location.
It was totally painless for me and family.

I would recommend this company to my neighbors if pipes are troublesome.

I had water leakage from the City main water pipe to my house and need to find an excellent Trenchless plumbing company. I checked several top Yelp reviews and contacted 3 companies. I called Star Rooter on Friday and talked to Fred Ramos (Owner). He was able to take a look at the video that I sent to him and to meet me on Saturday's afternoon for a full diagnosis and estimate of the job.

Fred was very professional and provided me with all the options regarding my pipe situations. The best option was to do trenchless (go underneath the concrete (40 - 45 feet), remove the old plastic pipe with full copper piping and replace the water valve.

Fred and his team came by Tuesday's morning and spent the whole day removing the old pipe, hammered ouy the concrete areas that needed to replaced and insert new copper piping to the house. They did not left until 8 PM and clean up all the areas and make sure that all the water areas of the home runs smoothly. We double checked to see that the City water-meter valve was not moving when the water was not turned on.

I am extremely impressed with Fred and his 2 employees who did an excellent job. It is pretty amazing that they can do trenchless without removing 45 feet of concrete. I would definitely use Star Rooter and Plumbing for any future jobs and highly recommend his company.

I only regret is that: I wish I have known and talked with Fred 15 years ago.

Finally! A great plumbing company! Very punctual, actually showed up early for both visits! We had to have our kitchen faucet replaced. Honest about what the problem was and didn't try to oversell! We had clogged pipes that ended up being a bigger issue that needed to be fixed once and for all. Star Rooter came early the very next day and worked hard on clearing the pipes and even used a backhoe to clear to the street. Alex worked with us on the different options and worked with us on the price. Our clay pipes going from the house to the street was a huge job. They came back and worked close to 12hrs to complete the project. All the plumbers were working hard and really appreciate their work. I would recommend their services and will definitely use again.

Simply amazing. We had clogs and leaks from old plumbing and bad work by contractor. We called Star Rooter to come out and give us an estimate, Fred came out at the scheduled time and followed up with an estimate shortly after. Work commenced and all I can say is WOW, there was a full crew at our house and in one day the plumbing under the house has done, day 2 was the work to the street, day three was patching the walls. We were very impressed by the professionalism by all who showed up to the house, the work was done as promised and they cleaned up before they left each day. I highly recommend Star Rooter, the difference in our water flow is amazing and I am now comforted knowing everything was done correctly.

Two months ago my friend asked me to let the plumbers into her house while she was at work. She was so impressed with them bcs even though she called them at 11 pm, Joe came out to assess her situation, give her a quote, & they scheduled the work for the next day. While I house sat at her placethat morning, I found Joe & his apprentice friendly, courteous, & tidy.

So a month later, my husband & I called Star when we had a plumbing problem at 5 pm. The receptionist assured us that they work later than that, & that the family (not an answering service) picks-up the after-hours calls. Since I'd met & felt comfortable with the crew I'd met previously, she offered to look up my friend's job info, & send the same crew! They'd be there within 45 minutes. Wow! That's great customer service.

So Joe explained everything, snaked & video-taped the sewer line. It was very clear that the 60 yr-old clay pipes had finally cracked, & tree roots an inch thick had invaded the line. We felt he was educating us-- not selling or pressuring-- and we felt really good giving him the go-ahead for the replacement.

The work went exactly as planned & scheduled, and they cleaned up afterwards. We were very pleased with the job and would definitely recmnd them!

PS Today the homeowners' insurance agent inspected our house to see if a claim would be covered (no) and he had already interviewed Joe at Star Rooter regarding the job. He mentioned, I've worked with Star before and they do good work. So even the insurance company likes them.

Julio and crew were terrific. He matched a price from another contractor that did the original estimate when I bought this old house (original contractor never returned calls to do the work!). The cleanup was amazing and they had to chop up a very thick succulent shrub to get to the cleanout or opening near the house. They chopped up the pieces and filled the greens container, put back the lawn sod neatly, and did a great clean finish on the cementwork of the sidewalk. Really top-notch customer rapport as well. HIGHLY recommend!

Our job was handled very well from getting permits done, great at keeping us updated, passing all permits on the first inspections. This was a 2-day job, first day was cancelled due to torrential rain. Second day as we were told 2 work crews were here and they finished the job as scheduled. I live in an apartment complex, so getting someone over here has quickly as possible can sometimes be a pain. Fred got a call from our property manager and messaged us back within the hour. Today he came promptly, took a look at the problem and said he'd be back. An hour or so later, he shows up with his guy and got the job done quickly! He had a smile on his face the entire time and even educated me on our system and what could be the problem. Very polite and understanding that I didn't have all the billing information on hand. I called for a free camera inspection, and Julio came out on time as scheduled on a Sunday. We did the inspection, and I was given a recommendation and a quote, which I later accepted. The job was scheduled the following weekend. Julio and his crew showed up on time as scheduled. Once the job began, they worked non stop until completion of a job extremely well done. These guys worked as efficiently as i have ever seen, and left absolutely no mess. I'd recommend Julio and his crew in a second.

Luis and his team spent all day here yesterday working on plumbing issues. I never met a more quiet and respectful team. I experienced Luis as professional, attentive, patient, agreeable and thoughtful. They did an extensive job, worked hard all day, as far as I could tell, and half the time I hardly knew anybody was here. As far as the result of the plumbing repairs I'm sure they'll be OK as I can't speak to that so soon. Luis did explain a lot of what was going on, and as much as I could take in, and seemed to want to keep me in the loop. My regular plumber, who does more minor work, referred this company to me and I thanked him for the referral. It also helped me to choose this company after reading the reviews here on yelp. Two stars are for coming out quickly on a Friday night and climbing in the hole we'd dug around the pipe, despite obviously being dressed for a night out. Returned the next morning (obviously hung over) and quoted us $1500 for a job another plumber did later that afternoon for less than $100. They kept referring to their super-expensive equipment, but all that was needed was a small auger, which most plumbers carry with them. Would not use again.

We have been using Star Rooter & plumbing inc for a long time now , our shower wasn't draining and the water went from going down super slow to not going down at all , Of course we had a broken pipe underneath the tub ! I highly recommend Guillermo. I called on a Saturday with the hot water faucet in my shower broken so badly that a stream was flowing constantly. I also had a running toilet and another leaking faucet.

He provided impeccable, polite service, everything from making sure he didn't track mud to showing me how things worked to going the extra mile to fix the corresponding fixtures (the twin cold faucet). He also adjusted the toilet to make my old model essentially into a low-flow toilet.

All three jobs took less than an hour; he was efficient and had all the parts in stock. I had some sticker shock when it came to the bill but I would use him again because it was worth it to get everything taken care of so efficiently, thoroughly and quickly. Also, he didn't try to upsell me (something that happened once before when I used Star Rooter - them telling me I needed to replace old pipes that another plumber told me I didn't need to replace at all).

Guillermo even reminded me to close the gate.

My husband and I bought a new home and after an inspection it turned out the pipes needed to be replaced to avoid a big mishap in the future. We needed a quote (and fast) to determine if the owners would pay anything. We called Star Rooter and Fred came out the same day to give us an estimate. We called other places and they either didn't call us back or said they would get back to us but didn't. Star Rooter gave us a reasonable price and scheduled a time to start the work as soon as possible. On the day of the job, they brought a team of people who replaced our pipes and did a great job. They communicated with us, answered any questions we had and got the job done. I ended up calling Fred back a few days later due to a concern I had with the drain in our bathroom. I really wasn't even sure it had anything to do with the job being it was a new home and I hadn't used that bathroom shower yet. Fred came by, took a look at it and fixed it. He said if there was anything else that we needed to contact him at anytime. It was a pleasure working with this company and I would recommend them to anyone. Very professional, thorough, efficient, and reasonable pricing.

Man o man, had my pipe split below the shutoff valve around midnight and I was leaving out of town the next day. Called Star Rooter at 9am and they had a full schedule but would see if the owner was free to make it out. Fred made it out within an hour and a half and was able to save my trip! No one wants to think about having to do a sewer lateral project. If you do need yours replaced, call Star Rooter. They are fast, responsive, efficient, clean and really reasonably priced....about half the price of those other guys. And they do a lot of sewer lateral work in San Leandro.

Warning, though...the uncle suggested work that I didn't need. Our house has copper waste pipes, which generally last forever. The uncle said that the pipes had signs of wear under the kitchen and bathrooms and wanted to replace all of my pipes for another $1600. So I double checked with our inspector who said that our copper pipes were just fine.

So just use these guys for the sewer work only.

I called them Saturday morning before 9 am and a woman answered the phone already. She said that someone could come to check my clogged kitchen sink around 2 pm, but a little while later Andy Ortiz (510-915-9556) called to say that he could be at my place in 45 minutes. So, he arrived at my place with another guy and told me that it would cost me some $125 to get the drain fixed.

He said that sometimes it goes quick, and sometimes its difficult and that for $125 they will get the job done. I agreed. They tried several times to snake it out from under the kitchen sink, but it did not work. They then thought the blockage was not just in the drain pipe behind the wall, but in the pipe deep in crawl space under the garage on the ground floor.

They got in there, found a weird Y joint that the snake could not traverse coming from under the kitchen sink, cut the pipe open, put their snake machine to work and fixed the blockage. Took them one hour and a half. The kitchen sink works again!

After the day from hell the night before my mother's memorial, after 6 incompetent plumbers attempted to resolve a mainline clog 95 feet in; Felix arrived at 8pm with all the equipment needed to fix the issue!!!! We cannot begin to thank you enough!!! We had 50 guests arriving in the morning and just when we gave up hope of resolution ; he appeared with all of the equipment he needed!
How the previous companies sent plumbers with 70 foot snakes, left the camera in the shop and a hundred other excuses is just baffling!!Star Plumbing got the job done!!!! We will forever be grateful!!!!!

I recently had a leaky faucet at our apartment and was unable to get anyone to fix it until I called Star Rooter. They were able to send someone on the same day who arrived on time and took care of the problem. It wasn't cheap, but worth preventing any potential leak or flood damage that this could have caused. I have used them twice. They impressed me the first time with a transparent estimate process for the 1 task I had. The work was completed quickly and done well. The second time I was not impressed with the fairness of the pricing. I needed several small things done, and instead of a time and materials charge, I was billed for each small item separately, as if they were several individual jobs. I should have gotten an estimate upfront (like I had received the first time), and was pretty shocked at what I felt to be a gross over-charging for simple work. I had similar work done before by a different plumber and was billed very differently (at about 1/3 the rate). So, despite a great start, Star Rooter will not be my go-to for plumbing needs.

I had to get the required sewer lateral compliance for a house in Oakland. I got a few other quotes, but the next closest was over $1000 higher! So I went with Star Rooter. Juan was great about returning my calls and handled everything. I was afraid they might try to add extra fees at the end but there was no such attempt at all. 4/16/17 - EASTER SUNDAY - 3:00pm - Company over and toilet backed up!

Called several plumbers and all were closed. Saw Star Rooter in San Lorenzo on Yelp. They had great reviews so we called them. I called this company on 6/16 to have someone come fix my leaky faucet. The next morning (Saturday) Andy and Jose arrived (on time), explained my options, made a recommendation, quoted me a very fair price and then proceeded to do the work. They went to purchase my new faucet for me. Called me from the store to make sure it was what I wanted. My husband and I had ongoing problems with our sewer getting clogged. We had three different companies give us estimates on how much it would cost to have the entire sewer lateral replaced, Star Rooter's estimate was much lower than the other two companies, and we had also heard good reviews from some of our friends and neighbors who have used them. We are very happy that we hired them to do the job. They did a trenchless sewer replacement and only had to dig up a small part of our driveway. I first met Paul when I called Star Rooter and Plumbing about a year and 1/2 ago when my main broke they stayed all day to fix my pipe the right way. And made sure everything was spotless when they finished. Quality work and fair prices. I have a bar business and rental property and I have been using Paul ever since. He is always prompt, so friendly, professional and a hard worker and dedicated employee. No job is too small he has fixed everything from clogged drains to recently putting in a brand-new water heater. I highly recommend Star Rooter and plumbing and Paul for all your plumbing needs. I have been reading the bad reviews and just had to voice my opinion for the guy who says the 5 star reviews are fake. Does not know anything!! my 5 star review is 100% true. I have had nothing but excellent service from star rooter and plumbing for a 1 1/2 years. Part of the reason they need to change the whole pipe or do more on a job is because they're older properties and it's required by law to bring the plumbing up to code. And a Estimate is just what it says it's just an amount to give you an idea about how much the job it's gonna cost. until they get there and see what the problem is and yes the price may change. And from my experience with Star Rooter and plumbing. it's not that much difference their prices have been very fair. I highly recommend this company.

Responsive and came same day to fix a leak. I have no idea what prices are reasonable, but I believe $420 for 2 hours of work to fix a pipe leak on a Sunday evening is reasonable. They arrived when they said they would and finished quickly. Glad we found them and they were able to take care of the problem so quickly what a relief. They also provide a 3 month warranty on their work. Very respectful and courteous.

Well, I guess they did a good job on our new sewer lateral... I wouldn't know, they never bothered to tell me. Hell, I had to ask the Inspector what they were doing because the crew wouldn't/couldn't tell me. It took the crew three hours to get around to telling me I could flush my toilets!

Be fluent in mumbled Spanish if you hire these folks. I specifically asked for Joe to be present, because he's personable and knowledgeable and he talked to me like I was worth informing... he promised he would be there, to my face. He wasn't but on site for maybe an hour in the morning, and then to collect the check. So I got grunts and silence from the crew all day. They apparently didn't even know how to say 'thank you' when I brought them coffee, tea, nor when I served them the lunch I bought them. One of them came to apologize after Joe spoke with them, how come he couldn't answer any of my questions or say thank you during the 7 other hours he was there?

Joe and I agreed on an additional plumbing job to be done and paid for. Well he wasn't here, and none of his crew would talk to a woman, so it didn't get done, so I have to go find someone else to do the job. Great.

I guess communication and keeping your promises is an added charge at Star Plumbing?

Will not use again. Felt very unsure, insecure, uncomfortable with this crew. Very disappointed, feel cheated.

I was having a lot of plumbing issues to the point my kitchen sink water was coming up the bath tub, gross! And my master shower filled with water when running. I was tired of having bandaid fixes and reoccurring issues in my bathrooms. I used Star rooter and plumbing to replace all the drains in my crawl space and replace my main sewer lateral that had two breaks in the line causing my water back up and drainage issues. The service tech Alex was great, he communicated promptly and thoroughly. Every time he said he'd be at the house, was never late. He showed me videos of my plumbing issues, and we prioritized the fixes, it was excellent service. His crew worked 12 hours straight! On my 65 foot sewer later replacement, and cleaned up everything to spotless when they finished. I would absolutely call this company again if I need plumbing repair, service is excellent. Highly recommend. In fact my two neighbors recommended this company to me which is how I chose them, so all around we're a satisfied block.

If you need sewer work done, I can highly recommend Star Rooter & Plumbing (510 481 1555).

As you may know, all of the sewer agencies in the East Bay are under a consent decree to reduce the inflow and infiltration into the sewer laterals (the pipes that connect the houses to the sewers in the street). To figure out which laterals are leaking the sewers are smoke tested, i.e. smoke is blown into the sewers and observations are made of where it is escaping.

Smoke was escaping from my lateral so I had to replace it. The first plumber I called wanted $260 to do a TV inspection of the lateral before they would quote a price. A second plumber provided a free TV inspection and quoted me a price of $3,600 to replace the lateral, but did not seem to know the City of Berkeley program and procedures. Since what I really needed was the certificate that my lateral had been replaced, I called a third company, Star.

They did another TV inspection, quoted me a price of $3,700, and went and got the City permit the same day.

They arrived on time on the day the work was to be done, had a huge amount of equipment, pipe burst my lateral, pulling in a new plastic one, connected up five different pipes to the new lateral, had the installation successfully inspected, backfilled the pits they had dug, and cleaned up by evening.

I am pretty sure that the number of connections they had to make was more than they had anticipated but they did not try to raise their price on me.

A few weeks later, Hal Reynolds across the street had to replace his lateral. I recommended Star to him. He hired them. They sent a different crew that was equally effective. Another one day job.

Above and beyond... called late on a Thursday eve (6:30pm?) and they answered the phone. And they made an appt for Noon the next day. Then they showed up early and began the work to unclog a pipe that another company failed (who shall remain nameless). They checked all the pipes (even under the house/crawl space) for leaks/issues and then solved after 3 tries... they did NOT give up and go home like the other guys. Oh, and no extra charge, just did as promised. ...Wow... I say stop looking and just call these folks ASAP.

I needed some work done today. I called this morning and spoke to a nice lady that told me a tech would call me back. A little later, I received a call from the owner Fred. Fred told me that they were really busy and his employees were all on jobs so he was going to come out personally. Awesome. Fred showed up, followed by Robert a little bit later. They were both friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They were in and out in a couple hours and they did a great job.

We purchased a home and in need of a new sewer lateral to be compliance with the county. Joe was quick to go there and give my agent a quick estimate! Friends of mine recommended Star Rooter to me. I called them about an issue with my sump pump after heavy rains where it wasn't draining properly and was always on. They set me up for an appointment the same day I called, fixed the problem without trying to upsell me, checked all the other equipment without charging me anything extra, and were super nice to boot (Fred, the owner, is the one who came to my house even though my job was tiny compared to most, I'm sure). Had the kitchen faucet break yesterday. It was the single lever type and the lever broke where contacting the valve. Star Rooter had replaced a family member's water heater when it broke at a bad time, and they were highly recommended.Wife called and was told they'd be here 2:00-4:00 PM. Julio and his fellow plumber showed up not too long after 2:00 and checked it out quickly. New faucet was needed and we told him we wanted one with separate hot and cold valves for easier valve replacement. He quoted us a good total price. Went and got the faucet, came back and installed. Faucet was installed quickly and works like a charm. Valves can be operated with a pinky finger. I contacted Star Rooter because of two leaky faucets in my home. The technician, Paul Castillo, was not very friendly. He did not fix one of my faucets correctly which went from a leak to running water. When I contacted him to let him know of my emergency at 6:30pm today he told me to wait until the next day. He could not give me an ETA for tomorrow or anything. When I got the company involved the technician stated he would come out here today to fix it. It's 10:17pm and he still has not showed up. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I'm very disappointed with this service.

Today a plumber came out but did not have a rooter and suggested I call Roto Rooter. When I saw reviews for them on Yelp I looked for alternatives and first called Gladiator Rooter & Plumbing but their rooter machine was being serviced. They suggested I call Star Rooter. It was 3:30 PM and when I called a nice lady answered the phone and said they could send someone out today. They sent Felix. He was great. He found the problem was caused by the flap from the overflow device had broken off. he cleaned the sewer line and ran a camera so I could see everything was cleared up. We had a main line water break on Monday which happened to break our sewer line which unbeknownst to us that soot and rock was shot into our sewer line towards our house. It wasn't until Saturday evening we found our cut out backing up in the back yard. Sunday we started searching for a plumber to come out with a camera so we could record what was in our line. It is very hard to find a plumber on Sunday. But Felix responded and showed up around 4pm on a Sunday evening. He worked tirelessly and was determined to clean the line of all these rocks and soot. He was going to have to come back the next day with a bigger, more powerful machine. Felix and a co-worker returned around 3:30 Monday and still determined to break free our line of all debris. He finished around 7pm and was able to complete the job. We are very happy customers and will be referring all our friends to Star Rooter (ask for Felix). One more important thing, the price. The amount he charged was fair and we DIDN'T feel taken advantage of one bit. He is very knowledgeable and knows how to handle any situation. Know that you can count and trust in Star Rooter.

I had as good of an experience with these guys as can be expected. I was having a slow drain on my sewer line and had a local handyman come out to snake the line. When they pulled the snake out there were roots in the line so they recommended I call someone who could scope the line with a camera to see how bad things were.

One company was going to charge $300 just to scope the line. This was going to be in addition to any repair cost. Star Rooter does it for free! No brainer there.

I scheduled for the next morning and Juan showed up right on time, actually a little earl;y which was great. Access to under the house is in our master closet and they put down tarps to keep the floors clean. Before they started, I was told the camera work would be free but they would need to rooter the line if they could not get the camera all the way through the line. The price they quoted was half of what the handyman charged me who came out before. In the end they didn't charge me for it since I scheduled the repairs with them.

As I expected, the line was shot and needed to be replaced. They had me watch video as the pulled the camera out and explained what they were seeing. They gave me a quote which seemed reasonable so I decided to move forward. After seeing what goes into the line replacement I am surprised it wasn't higher.

These guys know their stuff. Juan was able to tell me about the permits they would have to get and the inspections with the city they needed to schedule.

A few days later he called to tell me what day they would be out to do the work. I missed that call so he left a message. The next day he called again to make sure that I received it. Very professional in my opinion.

A few days before the repair, they had PG&E come out to mark the gas lines and the water district come out and mark the sewer lines. The night before they came by to put out 'no parking' signs to keep that section of the street open.

The day of the work they came on time. They had about 4 trucks full of their equipment and they started right away. You could tell they have their system down really well. They asked if they could remove a section of fence on the side of the house for easier access. They put it back up as promised. The entire job took about 10 hours.

As much as I didn't want to have to replace the line, I am glad I went with Juan and his team.

We had our main line fixed and their work was ok but lacking attention to detail. We also experienced poor customer service. Upon arrival, they sent an an older man who was very grumpy. He saw that it was not an easy fix and he started yelling at me. He demanded to know if I had dug up the holes and started yelling.
Apparently he only wanted to do easy work.

He then demanded to know if I spoke to the owner which is so funny. After he and his crew spoke about the plan, they did the work but were sloppy. They had to break off some branches out of necessity but I also noticed they broke off more for fun. I saw this myself looking outside. Their communication was poor. When they fixed the pipes, they turned on the water without telling me to turn onthe faucets.

We had an issue where we encounter leaks in our home and someone has to come out to fix after the fact. When the work was done, this man gave me attitude because he was resentful of the job. Bizarre.

Great job. Had them do a trenchless replacement of my main sewer line. They said it would take two days, but it was almost totally completed in ONE day. Great experience with having the sewer lateral done. Juan's initial estimate was very reasonable compared with one other bid we had. His estimate was accurate; no funny business. His explanations were very clear and he fielded my many questions with patience.
Julio led the team that did the job. Also very good customer service, very good communication. A couple of days after the job, we had that torrential rain storm and the dirt around the access point at the property edge sunk a foot down. Julio quickly had two guys out to fill in the depression and reposition the concrete cap.
I was worried about the pipe having possibly sunk a bit as well. Julio graciously came out and did another video scope of the pipe to assuage my fears. Turns out it was fine--I think he knew it was fine but, as I say, he scoped the pipe again at my request, no charge of course.

Used to be my go to plumber, but I last Sunday I hired them to unclog the main, we asked if there's guarantee and the guy said no. Sure enough two days later it was clogged again. had a leak at a joint of an old cast iron drain pipe. Leo came and gave an estimate of $395, in which I had agreed to. Leo spent as much time on personal phone calls as he did replacing g the pipe. Once completed, he had asked me to turn on the water to test the fitting, once I turn on the water - he went and took another personal phone call. Leaving me with the flash light of my phone checking for leaks. He didn't clean up after himself, I had to clean up after him like his mother. When it was time for the invoice, he billed me $100 more. I didn't want to argue and paid him. The work was satisfactory, but his professionalism was lacking.

Luis and team far out-did the other contractors we contacted for our sewer lateral. Not only were they vastly superior in terms of communication (some of the 5 we sought bids from never replied), they were on site day one, hydro-jetted our pipes and diagnosed a city-line problem (rather than our residential line) and had the city out there the next day fixing their end. Once we realized Star was the company to go with they not only negotiated cost with us but also got everything done while we were out of town and ultimately it was like nothing ever happened. We are so glad to find Star Rooter & Plumbing. We have called several plumbers and one of them came because they quoted us we thought was a reasonable price. $180 over the phone, but when the Drain Doctors came, the price went up to $295. We called Star Rooter and got a quote for $85. My husband asked the person on the phone twice to make sure he heard the price correctly. We made the appointment and Guillermo showed up on tme. He came and did the job in 30 minutes, very professional, knowledgeable and polite. We will definitely call him to do all our plumbing projects from now on. We had a good experience with them in the past so we called them again when we had a clogged sewer line. The tech who showed up was extremely rude, he doesn't talk he yells (in your face with his mask hanging below his chin) and speaks as if everyone is in the sewer cleaning business and should readily be able to comprehend what he is yelling about. He did a camera inspection and didn't bother to record it (it would cost me extra to have it recorded), when asked his response is do you know how much a camera cost? I called their office to share my experience about the tech's demeanor and the person who called me back was the same rude tech, who claimed to be the owner. Before the Thanksgiving I had a clog in my sewer line. Called other plumbing and had it cleaned out. Two weeks later it happen again and got charged again. So I ask them to run a camera and got charged again. They gave me a price to replace the line from my property to the city sewage main. I know it was too much that's why I asked my construction friend if they know anybody. And that's how I got to know Star Rooter. Fred came out and gave me a price I know it was a good deal. We agreed for Star rooter to do the job on Thursday, he got all the permits and marking on the street on Friday and Monday. Came out to do the job on Tuesday morning and finished in the late afternoon. These guys are good, fast and professionals. I will recommend Star Rooter to anyone that has plumbing needs.

Julio Solis was the supervisor on two jobs for me. These are what people dread, their sewer line breaking. The nightmare never came though! Julio and his crew were friendly and professional. Julio explained how everything would progress, the time frame, what to expect, and their were NO SURPRISES!!! When he first came out due to waste water backing up and not draining, he snaked the drain at the clean out. They also put a camera down to inspect, and were able to show me where my sewer line was broken. The local company that had been coming out to clear the drain about once a year, who also charged more, never put a camera down. So glad this problem with the drain is now done with! Two stars for regular rooting sewer job, but don't let them do anything more than that. The plumber Juan arrived promptly, saw the clogged pipe and told me it would be $85 to root the drain or $125 to root the kitchen and main sewer and put the p-trap pipe back. I told him to do the $125 job as I don't want to fuss with the pipes.

He goes back to his van, couldn't find a wrench. WTF? You're a plumber and you don't carry a freaking wrench? So, I let him borrow mine. Yes, I let the plumber borrow my own tools. The rooting part was fine, but he then suggested he needs to go under the crawlspace to look at the kitchen pipes. Okay... 10 min. later he comes out and tells me I need to replace part of the pipe and he would give me a special price for $850. I told him I would think about it, he then proceeds to write up the bill of $220. Which was not the price he first quoted me. Mind you this was less than one hour of work. So, I asked him what about the $850 special he was going to cut me. He thought about it for a second and told me if I am willing to do it before certain date he would give me the deal. I reluctantly said yes, and he left.

After thinking about it more, it just didn't add up for me. So I called around to see how much other plumbers would charge to replace a section of the pipe. I got three bids and all three were $200 under the deal Juan quoted me. So, I called and told them not to come back and I'll send a check for $220.

It was a $220 one hour rooting job using my tools. I should have charged him $$$ for using my tools. I'm really surprised that they got so high rating in Yelp... What a disappointing yelp referral. Would not recommend or use them again.

People need to stop handing out 5 stars like there's no tomorrow. there's a new ruler in town and I'm watching you guys.

I wasn't going to review them but them repeatedly LYING to my property management company brought me here. So I had a backed up tub in my unit due to something being wrong with the plumbing in my building.

This company is very unprofessional and the ladies who answer the phone are rude. I had to call them multiple times and they were unwilling to accommodate my work schedule. I also called on a Saturday and the plumber said he'd call back and never did!

When one FINALLY came out he was a pervert! He refused to walk in front of me so he could see me walk up the stairs as I was still in my night shorts and had allowed him to drop in 2 hours early, he then gets into my place and acts like he doesn't know how to turn on the bath tub so I have to bend over. Then he asks you off work today while lifting his eyebrows looking into my bedroom at my bed. When I told Jessica about it she says this doesn't sound like our guys, I'll reach out to him about it and was going to send him back.

They had to come out many times because they thought the issue was one place and ended up being another and this drug on for 2 months. Now, my advice to everyone is avoid this company because not only will they not be accountable for their lack, they'll then lie to your management company like you did something wrong. I ALWAYS keep receipts so better try again.

Woke up had the easiest day planned but nope daughter said shower and toilet were clogged in our main bathroom . Tried everything plunger, apple cider and vinegar, draino etc
Since we already had an issue with the shower being clogged in the other bathroom for a few weeks . Called Star... Jose arrived within an hour looked everything over and then told me that another guy Juan would be there soon that the main valve needed to be unclogged . They unclogged both showers and the toilet and even kept using their equipment after to make sure it was all unclogged . Price was reasonable considering . Service was excellent .

We hired Joe Swyers who contracted with Star Rooter and Plumbing to replace our main sewer line.
The company showed up on tome and replaced the line in just one day!
The second day they finished up and repaved the street.
The job was done to our full satisfaction and within the estimate.
I highly recommend Joe Swyers as he is fully reliable and does a great job.
We have used him for other plumbing problems in the past and cannot think of a better craftsman.
I highly recommend him!

Had Star Rooter replace sewer lateral from front of house all the way to middle of street. Luis and his crew were right on time. I watched almost the entire operation which lasted from about 7;30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I was quite impressed with the work performed. It was also quite interesting to see how they did the job. When they finished they cleaned up quite well, in fact, I think the area was cleaner than when they started. Star Rooter will definitely be my first choice for future jobs. Great job by Luis & crew!

We hired this company to help us with the new requirement by Castro Valley to have the correct kind of sewer line. Joe was our plumber and he was excellent. He kept us in the loop as to what was happening and seemed very well respected by the Castro Valley Sanitary District inspectors. We ended up having to replace the sewer line but Joe and his crew were great about whatever they removed to dig to the sewer line they put back. Their prices were more than fair. I highly recommend them and wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

My problem was a shower cartridge that I was trying to change myself came apart in the fixture and I couldn't get the rest of it out. This was on a Sunday evening, and I had the water turned off in a multiple-unit apartment building. They came quickly, did the job right, and charged a very fair price. Unlike other contractors I've had the displeasure of dealing with, Star Rooter and Plumbing is....normal! And efficient, from my initial yelp quote request with Fredericko to their final exit out of my home. Eduardo, my tech, despite being very young, was respectful, communicative, personable, and was eager to do his job correctly. He remembered or referred back to the initial home visit, remembered my problem, and remembered my address. He called to inform me his last project needed to be finished and would be late--this is what healthy communication looks like. He carried himself with dignity and honor as opposed to other contractors. Additionally, there were no questions about my dating life, no requests to use my fridge, no taking work time to smoke cigarettes, no indication of drug/alcohol problems or personality disorders! As you can see I've dealt with a lot of losers. Eduardo gave me additional advice on my plumbing situation without trying to upsell me in any way. What sets them apart from the other companies is they didn't charge $125 to go in my crawl space. Eduardo, on his first visit, kicked off his cowboy boots and happily got under the house, giving me a diagnosis of the problem. Others tried to tell me what they thought the problem was by standing on ground level. Additionally, Eduardo didn't complain and honored my request to take a video of the leak in the crawl space for me to see. He gave me a verbal quote and when I thought he had already zoomed off in his truck, he knocked on my door and provided me with a written quote on company letterhead/paper, all the time never knowing if I'd commit to his company. At the final stage, he again took a video on his phone at my request of the new installation. He even took some baking soda I had into the crawl space to sprinkle under the house to combat the nasty smell/moisture to make me feel better. He respected my home--inside, he walked around with only socks on. He cleaned up as much as he could within reason. I'll be calling them again for my next plumbing project!

We used Star Plumbing a year ago, a complicated job that involved removing a clog, replacing part of a sewer pipe, digging up part of the sidewalk and replacing it, and installing a new cleanout at the edge of the property. We paid nearly $5,000 and thought the problem was fixed, but a year later we had water leaking at the point where Star had done its previous work. The workers dug up the sidewalk again--I don't know why--and released the backed-up water. They recommended a much larger project which we rejected--why hadn't they done that a year earlier? We paid $400 this time. When they replaced the sidewalk they left the area a mess, with debris in the front yard, excess cement on the surrounding sidewalk and in the street. We asked them to come back and clean this up but crickets. No response. I hope their plumbing work holds up but frankly, I don't trust this company at all. Do not use.

Sewer Lateral, oh how we loathe thee. Bonus - our street sewer line is apparently 'unusually deep'. Joy!

I thought I was going to beat these guys to the job site. Wrong. So wrong. I arrive at 8 am and there's a flatbed truck unloading a Backhoe and a ton of gear in front of my house. 6 or 8 guys all digging around my home, and a 12 foot deep hole being opened up in the middle of the street.

They moved a ton of dirt. They moved paving stones, bricks, and pebbles from the backyard. Replaced those old crumbling pipes, hooked it all up, got it inspected, signed off on, and replaced EVERYTHING in a day. Seriously. Oh and their bid was totally reasonable too, even with the 12' deep hole in the middle of the street.

Can't really put a price on knowing your sewage is efficiently leaving your property, but these guys were worth every penny for us.

Then made like he was doing me a favor by reducing the extra fee to $75.

Having to replace a sewer line is awful, however the team at Star Rooter made it seem easy. They were prompt for our scheduled day. Everything went as described during the estimate consult. I was very pleased with the service I received from star rooter. I phoned on a Sunday evening as we had returned from camping and the drains were running slow. My husband opens the clean out drain outside of our home and found it was clogged. I called other companies and they said they would come out and take a look then give an estimate. Ugh. I know what the problem is and just needed a snake put down the main clean out to the street. So when I called Star plumbing the gentleman said he would have the on call plumber contact me, I thought oh boy here we go. Surprising Felix called back in a short time and told me he could be there within an hour or two ( he was at another job) and told me how much it would cost to snake it. He arrived on time, professional and polite. He snaked the drain and he was done in about 15 min. Price was great for a Sunday evening after hours call. Very pleased and thankful! Will definitely use them again.

I made time for this company asked on Yelp reviews! So wrong!

Scheduled to have this company come out to snake clogged drain. They were past due the appointment time so I call them to ask about status. They said they were delayed and tried to come later in the day. Juan apologized and rescheduled the next morning at 9. He said he would be there. He is now past due, yet again, but this time instead of my patience he gets this review.

Fool me once, shame one you! Fool me twice, shame on me!

well, they DID fix my plumbing issue, but was a total bait and switch. I was VERY clear what The problem was and what I needed and the guy even repeated it back to me. He quoted me $90-$120. When the guy showed up he came in and said no, it's $165. he says The guy you talked to misunderstood what you told him. Not sure how you could miss understand that I have a clog in the drain below my kitchen sink and the cleanout is on the other side of that wall and I need it routed out from the wall into the sewer. The guy tells me that The person I spoke to on the phone thought I had a toilet that was backed up and I needed the sewer line routed out. Sorry it wasn't a misunderstanding, It was a bait and switch.I will go elsewhere if I have plumbing problems from now on.

I am very pleased with Star and their work on my sewer lateral. They were prompt and their bid was good. I had to have them out 3 times due the municipal utilities procedures (quote, witnessed inspection, and repair). I was really impressed that they came early for the inspection and had it ready to go for the inspector. We had a roots invading our original terra cotta pipe. The downstairs would flood when the line would get plugged. Now we have a one piece plastic sewer line. No more floods on Sunday nights is the best part but the excellent work by Star Rooter & Plumbing is a close second. A big thanks to Joe and his crew!

Great response and customer service...... This company was very helpful to my business. We called them when a plumbing problem occurred, and within 25 minutes the man, Fred was here.... ready to help, and give us a free estimate. When we weren't sure how this problem came up, he explained things to us, gave us our options, and temporarily tied off the problem, until the City could come out and take a look at it, as this their landscape dilemma, not ours. I appreciated his candor and honesty and will definitely call them again when the next problem occurs.... ( I had left messages all day for the Water Company and this company came out and answered our problems and concerns, and temporally solved the problem within 30 minutes of my initial phone call.) As you all know, when it comes to plumbing, it needs immediate attention! Call STAR Rooter, you'll be glad you did !

We were very pleased with Andy and all the guys that helped him at Star Rooter & Plumbing . They came out very quickly last Sunday when our bathtub was running slow and the washer was backing up . They spent over who hours cleaning out the drains . Then they put a camera in the pipe and saw they needed to be replaced. They set up a time to come the following Monday . They came right on time and we're ready to work. They were very professional and fast. They had to dig up a portion of the street and they had cones and signs for the traffic. They were pretty quite and they put back the dirt and fixed the road just the way it was. They cleaned up very well. The inspectors told us they are very pleased with their work also. I highly recommend Star Rooter for all your plumbing needs.

Star Rooter completed my sewer lateral project back in August 2021. I worked with Leo and his entire crew were very efficient, professional.

It is now November 2022, I had contacted the business regarding an issue, and Leo and his crew responded the next day, came and resolved the issue without incident. Now that's great service/communication/customer service.

I definitely would recommend their business for big projects as sewer lateral/plumbing etc ....

Julio came to do a sewer lateral replacement. He talked us through all the steps, answered all our questions, and was in contact with us the whole time. He took care of all the requirements and passed the county tests and issued us a copy of the final certificate. He even helped replace an old water faucet in our backyard at no extra charge.

My toilet backed up big time, not long ago on a Sunday night. I did a quick search on Google and found Star Rooter. I called the number on their website and was happy to find that the owner answered the phone directly - no waiting for an answering service to track him down and then have him call me back. Fred from Star arrived at my home about 35 minutes later and was in and out the door in under an hour. He quickly and carefully fixed my toilet (or the pipe or mainline or whatever was wrong, I stopped paying attention the minute I knew an expert was in the house). He also warned me about what to keep my eye out for in the future. All I know about the future is I will be calling Fred at Star Rooter & Plumbing again the next time our home needs a plumber.

I've called on Star rooter twice for issues at my house. Unfortunately they gave me the news the second time and told me my sewer lateral needed to be replaced. They were extremely fair in their pricing and super professional every step of the way. They immediately started permits and did the job not two weeks later! They completed the whole thing in about 6 hours and they did a damn good job filling in concrete and adding a cleanout outside my house. They cleaned up afterwards too and left everything neat, even the bushes they stepped on!

So I highly recommend Star rooter for plumbing needs, big or small. They're responsive and professional. And they even have emergency services so that's a plus.

These guys are a joke. They serviced my house twice through a home warranty. The first time they replaced the garbage disposal. They did a sloppy job and didn't complete the wiring resulting in electrical shorts. After the garbage disposal leaked they came out again and put a new disposal in. The dumb plumber forgot to punch out the plastic drain plug for the dishwasher to drain into and when we ran the dishwasher it flooded the counter. So he comes back out and punches out the plastic tab and then leaves it in the disposal so when we run the disposal it makes this terrible racket - sloppy work.

So I wanted to get a quote from him on running a water line for a new fridge. He crawls under my subfloor to give me an esitmate and comes back up telling me my drain lines are corroded and leaking and qoutes me $1000 to replace them and run a simple water line. Fortunately, I found an honest plumber to check things out and he found there was absolutely no problems with my drain lines. These guys are scammers and not to be trusted. Stay away from these guys.

I called at 2pm today, Saturday to have 50 feet of pipe cleaned.
My regular plumber was solid booked.
I couldnt wait till Sunday.
Girl in office said, A tech will call you with an ETA.
The tech called at 7pm asking what I needed. I explained my problem and he says, I can come give you a quote or can I do it tomorrow. I said, No I need it done now!
He said, Well let me find a tech available.
It's almost 9pm and have not heard from him.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!
If you didnt want to work tonight Why even call!
I will sacrifice the remainder of night with a camp potty and wait for my regular plumber tomorrow.
