Though A-Avis was opening and operating for 73 years, we've decided to take a big leap and combine efforts with Southern California's very own Service Champions. The original owner, Ed Ballard, has provided some of the best customer service and workmanship in the industry. Now it's time to combine powers and provide our customers with unmatched customer service, availability, and of course, the best equipment you can get. No matter what, we still hold on the fact that our customers are the coolest, and that our family business is still a family business. We're just a little bigger now.

In the past 10 years I have spent over $30k with this company and for the most part very happy with the service. Today it was horrible. We woke up this morning at 0500 and discovered a leak coming into our bedroom on the second floor. Called twice before finally receiving a callback 6 hours later. I had to shut off the water to the house. About 1300 Paul showed up and didn't want to do the work. Said I should call my insurance company. I told him with my deductible it would be better for me to pay out of pocket. I showed him the leak and he said I guarantee this is where the leak is. He cut open the drywall and there was no pipe. Called his manager on speaker who suggested he cut open the next panel beyond the stud, turn on the water and see where it was coming from . He said he felt uncomfortable as it was too close to the sprinkler head, even though that was not true. After opening the drywall he never even turned on the water to see where the water was coming from. During our discussion he even suggested it was PVC piping which is grossly inaccurate. They don't use PVC for lines leading into sprinklers. I understand they can't work on sprinklers due to specific certification but this has nothing to do with the sprinkler head. It was the copper line leading into the system. Had he listened to his manager we would know the source of the leak. My wife heard the entire conversation and commented from the start he didn't want to do the work. Horrible customer service in this case from a formally reputable company I have used for years. Turns out Ed the owner sold this company to Service Champions who evidently no longer values its customers. Now this morning I'm going to have to find a reputable company to do the repairs. Now without water for 20 hours!!

I had my annual furnace check-up, and Jose was great in showing me what he was doing and why. I learned a lot, and I sleep better at night knowing Jose and A-Avis take my safety and comfort seriously. Really glad I'm a Gold Member. Worth every penny.

We are long-time customers (30+ years) of Avis and just had a new A/C system installed. Nick and Juan did a great job on the installation but ran into an unusual problem that had them stumped.  The service tech, Joseph Yanez, came out and quickly resolved the problem.  Joseph is very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great rep for their company.  We recommend Avis for all your plumbing and HVAC needs.

My 25 year old AC went out on Tuesday night. I had received a flier in the mail from Service Champions and it sounded very good so I called for an appointment. Max came out Wednesday morning and did the diagnostic.  He showed me everything he tested and explained each thing very well. Long story short, the Supervisor  Ed came out, reviewed everything with me including prices for replacement and scheduled installation for the next day. The crew was on time, did an amazing job and were very nice and personable. I highly recommend this company.  They also do heating and plumbing. Fantastic company and I'm so happy I went with them!

I was extremely disappointed to find that the service that was done on my AC unit was more than twice to three times the cost at five other business in Yucaipa and Redlands.  Even Burgesons's was only $200 for the same repair that I was charged $481.10.  And they are known for being the best in the area.  The only reason I did not use them is because they were booked out until June 29th and I run a day care so I have to have a working AC until  What I found impressive was with 4 out of the five companies the service charge was waived if the customer had work done. And with the one company that did not waive the service fee, their price was only $168.00 for then entire part and job.  Avis did not offer the same.

I was shocked to learn that the part online was only $50 for the most expensive one and was even as inexpensive as $20.00.  Even with that, all companies I called had priced to me the part between $68-$90.  The most labor charge at every company was $125.00  I can not figure out where Avis came up with it's pricing.  It is clearly price gouging.  I am very disappointed that I picked Avis online.  I will in the future not use Avis.

It is terrible business to charge $300 labor for a job that took no more than 15 min to diagnose, remove the bad part, walk out to the work truck, get the new part and install the part.  I paid in cash.  I was a completely trusting customer and I was completely burned!!!  Shame on your company for taking advantage of people's needs and not charging a fair price for a job.

Feeling frustrated. Just 4 days ago, we had a good experience with AVIS, but 2 days ago they came to replace the flute pipe, which was not included at instilation, which surprised us, seeing how the house is over 30 years old. So had to pay for that. Went to work, came home yesterday, and the furnace is not coming on. Called the service #, the guy lives in the mountains & was snowed in, so now we have to wait for a call back Monday & make another appt for them to check it out. With our schedules it should be interesting.

I found Avis on Google. Their $59 AC Tune up special really caught my attention.
Speaking with their reps on the phone was a really simple process. They were extremely informative on the phone and scheduled a service call for the next day.

The next day a tech came out and tuned up our ac unit and found out we needed new parts on the unit.

Our AC hasn't ran this strong in years. Very satisfied with the service.
I highly recommend them.

I was a Burgesons Customer in the area for many years, and Now I'm a A-Avis big Fan / Customer. No doubt about it. I had great immediate service, and great customer service.  My technician  within less than a minute fixed my Mothers Heater that Burgesons would not even touch, according to them their was Liability issues? Huh? That Burgesons  tech, did not even make an effort to look at the problem, had to call his manager and he even said no don't work on it. Well, back to A-Avis, they fixed my Mothers Heater in less than One Minute, and in the process serviced the Heater by cleaning it, inspecting it, checked the ducting in the attic, and checked the water heater. Wow! I just had to sign-up with A-Avis Yearly Maintenance  Plan for my Mom and will sign up soon for my Home. Sadly, Burgesons got trumped by A-Avis and were represented well by their Technicians. I called the next day for another repair on my Mothers Water Heater venting and it turned out great. Thank You A-Avis. I would recommend You call them first before reaching out to any other. Good people that will get the job done. Thumbs-Up!

Update .. I spoke to Ed the owner and he remembered installing my unit a few years ago. So I was offered a solution to fix this and stay a member with them . I ended up paying about $200 and my problem with the unit is working just fine now. they also thru in a year membership in that cost so it's paid for the one year maintenance.  I hope this unit last for a while while I still have warranty from them and Avana .

Please shop around before you consider using this company. They are professional sales people trying to profit off of unsuspecting people by claiming to give you a good deal. They are very friendly, I will give them that, but they really tried to rip us off. They claimed that they were gonna give us such a great deal to help them out because their guys are slow, but when I called another company to get a quote he said he was already really busy and couldn't get to us for 2 weeks. He also quoted us less than half of what Avis quoted us! Be smart and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I really wanted to give these guys a 5-star rating, but it was what happened on the day that prevented me from doing so .....

The good:  the sales guy for our AC ducting replacement was great -- not at all pushy.  He spent a good amount of time scoping the potential job, and seemed very honest, helpful, informative, and didn't try to up-sell me on things I didn't need.  After a couple of emails the next day, we negotiated a fair price, and I was able to painlessly schedule the work for a couple weeks in the future -- it wasn't an emergency job.

The good (and the not-so-good):  I had been given a 2-hour window for the arrival of the crew = 7-9am.  I called at 8am to get an ETA, and was told that they had just left, and would be at my house within an hour.  So when they didn't arrive as promised, I called again at 9:15am to be told that they had, in fact, been in a meeting, and they had just recently left, and their GPS said 15-20 minutes.  I pointed out that I had, it seemed, been lied to when I first called, if the crew hadn't left at 8am, which, to me, is a very unprofessional thing to do.  I would much rather be told the truth, even if it isn't what I want to hear; just don't tell me something that is blatantly untrue.  So at 9:50am the truck finally pulls straight up my driveway -- without even asking if that's ok or seeing if I needed to move my car out first -- almost an hour outside of their arrival window.  Of course these 2 guys just go when and where they're told, so I wasn't upset with them, but at the very least a quick sorry for being late would have made all the difference .... (but no).  The contract they then presented me to sign before they could start work had the wrong price on it -- really??  It took 2 phone calls and an email to the office before that was resolved and they could get started.

However, they both worked hard for a long 6 hours or so without seemingly taking any breaks, and appeared to do a good installation job.  But if I hadn't have asked them, they probably wouldn't have walked around the house with me, checking the AC flow, which resulted in me requesting that a damper adjustment be made for one room (which they did quite willingly, though).  And perhaps I was expecting too much, but I had to ask them to go around and seal around ALL the registers (not just the ones they replaced).  I also thought they were going to seal up the area under the blower where they installed a second supply (like they had at my brother's house), but that didn't happen.  It wasn't specified on my contract, so I can't say they didn't do something they were supposed to have done -- that was just my interpretation of sealing the system and my brother's prior experience with this company.

So, all in all, these guys appear to have done good work, and they did everything they said they would on the contract.  I was just very frustrated with how things played out on the day ....

We called AVIS because it's who installed our unit and held a service contract with the previous homeowners of our house. When we came home one night to find out AC not working in the middle of a heat wave, we called as soon as they opened the next day. Not only was their customer service top notch, but they were able to schedule us same-day and completed the repairs within one hour. I have no complaints about this company, and the best part was that even though they give you a 4-hour window of time for your scheduled visit, they call to give you a 30-minute warning; this meant I didn't have to leave work only to sit around all day AND they kept me informed throughout my time frame to let me know what was happening. Needless to say we have re-established a maintenance contract with them and will be doing business with them for sure!! We just had a plumbing issue tonight, and I know who I'll be calling first thing tomorrow!! :)

I had a really rough start with this company as my air conditioner would not work properly after being installed. I paid 10,000 dollars so it was very frustrating. To their credit they did not give up on making things right. They sent their technician to see us 6 times. They finally figured out what was wrong and my conditioner now works great.

Several months later the technician came for routine check and told me I needed to change my filter. He told me he will charge me $98 for it. I asked him if I could get it online cheaper and put it in myself. He told me the filter is very expensive because its very unique. I was going to pay him, but luckily my husband called me and told me not to get the filter changed. Later that night we checked online and found the exact filter for $35.00 online. I feel cheated and lied too, hence the two stars.

Our family has been Avis customers for many years and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this company. They always show up, are prompt, and professional. Most recently I had problems with my A/C condenser so I called Avis. Jose came and tested the equipment and with Ed, showed us what happened to the condenser. All of us together went over what was needed in detail, cost, time frame for installation, everything, and we set an appointment for the work. Miguel and Emmanuel were the technicians doing the installation. They were here promptly on time, courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable. Together we went over all of the work to be done ahead of time and they worked diligently the whole time to complete the job. Thank you Avis for the excellent service you have always provided to me and my family.

Pete and Melvin knows  What extraordinary customer service is. They came to our house  Within 2 hours of making the call to help us with our tankless water heater because we were smelling gas. They were able to diagnose the problem and fix it immediately and they educated us on the do's and don'ts. very professional and reliable. we will always use them as our go to company thank you Pete Melvin.

Ramon has serviced my plumbing needs for Avis.  His service is always prompt, courteous, and competent.  He diagnoses my problems quickly, explains my choices for repair, and makes needed repairs.  I restarted my annual maintenance contract with Avis and I am already saving money.  Ramon had recommended the service agreement.  Since my house is 23 years old, I saw the need for more frequent repairs.  I recommend Avis and ask for Ramon.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. First shantel came to do my service and noticed some problems that were not right that the previous company didnt do correctly. She told me a comfort advisor would come and talk to me about my options at this point I was terrified I am a huge skeptic of any business. Comfort advisor Sean came to my house. He helped me understand everything detail by detail and he was extremely professional all while my kids were screaming and running around ;). He showed me pictures of everything in my attic and all the problems..I was convinced then I worried about price as I sat there he told me about a program they work with to help home owners and he helped us apply...we were approved Christmas eve afternoon two days later the girls from the office were calling me to schedule the work, they scheduled me for Wednesday at 8 am Sean came to walk the guys threw so he could go detail by detail. Sal ,Joe Luis and Gabriel were my installers these guys were beyond professional they explained everything treated me and my family with so much kindness and worked threw our crazy mess of an attic..I worried they wouldn't finish same day with all the trash and junk that was in my attic they had worked from 8 am sharp to 6pm non stop they didn't finish but they promised to be here next day at 8 am and leave us with heat that night they got here at 8 am on the dot and started again once they were finished they walked me through the house to see if I was satisfied I was extremely satisfied with this company from the girls in the office to the installers to Sean I would recommend this company!! I'm never leaving them!

I had an air conditioner tune-up this afternoon and Service Champions was great to work with. The appointment was easy to book online and the technicians were able to even show up a little early. Got into the hero program and club pricing. Every time they did a free yearly inspection there was something they said was wrong with the system and had to be repaired. The last two was that the coils were leaking Freon and was not covered by the lifetime warranty. And they stop doing business with that company. They demanded to replace the coils with a new company to keep the warranty intact which doesn't cover anything anyway. Then the ultraviolet light air scrubber was out. So they replaced it. Both these jobs total close to $3000. The air scrubber light went out and they said that the unit was faulty and we would have to pay for another one. I had another company come out without without telling them anything to just look over the system. They told me that the ultraviolet light was just not installed correctly and there was nothing wrong with it. Over the last two years I have talk to their manager/owner Ed to get an explanation why so many thing are braking. And gave me a lot of double talk and try to make the situation more confusing. Ed is a scam artist and a thief. He will try to tell you false things about your system and then charge you making you believe you need to pay so you don't have to pay more in the future. Stay away from this company and don't believe a damn thing Ed tells you. They have been fired and will never work for me ever again.

After this review the Owner Ed Ballard called my cell phone and home phone repeatedly. I explained to him not to call anymore. Then Ed made threats to me , so I called the police to report him for threatening my family and property.

I wasn't convinced that what they wanted to do for us was not going to be worth it but boy was I wrong.  Worth every penny.  Everyone was so professional at all times and worked so hard.  Always on time and always cleaned up after themselves.  We are so much more comfortable in our home then I ever could have imagined.  The system we choose is so quiet and I am sure to see lower bills in the near future.  Thank you to Miquel, and Chun. In all the time since we bought our house, new, almost 17 years ago we have never had our heating or air conditioning checked by anyone. We have also found over the years that the builders skimped on many things when they built this house .

We decided to go with A-Avis for the yearly checkup after receiving fliers for discounted services. Ever since our first contact with Ed & Avis we have been impressed with their integrity and their drive to do things the right way, as it should be. They even put up with our little dogs that tried at every opportunity to get petted with not so much as a complaint. They were on time and respectful of our home.

When we needed to have our air conditioner and heater replaced, we added to our insulation and needed duct work, we were shown a variety of options and they explained the good and the bad of each one. Without any pressure we settled on what we needed that fit our budget .

From the first day at work we liked their approach to the way they do things. Ed demands 110%  from his employees and that was evident from the start. When the time comes to do any other work on our home we will be calling Ed and his crew for sure!! We recommend their business to friends and family.

I found this family owned business through here and they have good reviews so why not try. And yes we had also called different company for an estimate but they have the best presentation and quotation. They are knowledgeable,always on time and give you a call for any updates or if their ppl are on their way. They make sure you are satisfied on their work. They finished their job on time and made sure doesnt leave any clutter in the house. We had our installation last October 2019 but didnt get the inspection done until yesterday. It took a while on that but they are really helpful to escalate the process. The ppl who installed our HVAC are really nice i forgot their names and also staff in the office are courteous and reliable. I would recommend them for any kind of service they offer. We recently had a new furnace and thermostat installed by Avis.  Their customer service is exceptional!  Colby came out twice-- first to discuss options for the new furnace and then after it was installed to make sure everything was done properly and to help us program our new thermostat.  The two technicians, Juan and Nick were extremely knowledgeable and professional during the installation process.   Plus they fixed some issues we'd had with a whole house fan that was not installed correctly- no extra charge!  They also cleaned up the dust and debris!  We definitely recommend them.  We signed up for their maintenance plan, too.

Service Champions bought out another AC/heating company in the area, AAA AVIS Heating/AC. During the last year of the former business, we spent $6000 replacing an AC unit in our Redlands business. Before our year warranty was up, I call the same old number and got the new company. They told me that they were not honoring warranties on commercial installs.
And why would I ever do business with this new company? It's a rhetorical question. I won't!

Rafael was great yesterday when he fixed a faucet in a bathroom sink.  He also tightened up the tubing to the sprayer head for the kitchen sink faucet which had been drooping for years.  He worked quickly, professionally and, as with all Service Champions employees, he was friendly and polite.

Service Champions is a GREAT company. I don't know how they consistently perform to this high level of service.  I have used them for heating/air conditioning and plumbing repairs and installation.  They are my go-to guys.

They get me scheduled quickly, let me know when the service person is on the way and always have the right tool with them.

Received one of their flyers for a service call on my a/c.
I have a good friend who is in the a/c business who I've known for decades but he was out of the country so I called Avis.
Their tech didn't really service my a/c...he spent more time looking for unneeded repairs that I could be ripped off on, and that I should probably buy a whole new unit that he would gladly sell to me.
When my friend got back home, he came over to check out the list of repairs that Avis gave me totalling over $5000.
My friend told me to throw away that list, and all I needed was about $300 in repairs.
Stay away from this company!

Thank Joseph for being so honest and giving my heat back!  I woke up Saturday morning to no heat in my house. I called another company and they came out, went on my roof to evaluate and came down to say it would be between $500 and $700 or maybe more and they couldn't get the parts until Monday. I decided to get a second opinion and called A Avis. They sent out Joseph. After his evaluation, all it turned out to be was my thermostat! Thank you again Joseph!

This is an update to my prior review. So, due to my last review I was contacted by Gary, the manager director of a Avis Plumbing. He called me and told me that he was very sorry about what happened.  He told me that if I bought a new toilet, then they would install it for free.  I bought the new toilet, and two days later Jose, was here.  He was really nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. The new toilet was installed quickly, and I couldn't be happier.  In addition to my updated review, I give A-Avis 5 10 15 20 Stars. Not only did they follow up quickly they were very kind and very nice. That is not easy to find. If you're looking for a company for plumbing or air conditioning, only use A Avis.  I was also contacted by a nice lady named Rashida. She made sure everything went well, and gave me her number just in case I had any questions. Thanks.

We had a full system put in a year ago. Colby was very informative in selling us the system. Travis installed the system and did an awesome job. We purchased a service package and have had them out twice now. Today Jesse Ayala was the technician that came out. He was very polite and thorough. He answered every question I had and was very easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this company!

Since my review was posted the owner has called and someone else from the office has called. I appreciate the additional follow up. I'm still a little confused about the coupon, but I didn't feel like wasting more of my time. The service itself was 5 stars. Like I said in the previous review. The technician was efficient & friendly. He also was covid safe wearing his mask, we stayed more then 6 ft apart. Plus, the heater works!

My unit was working just fine prior to their AC tune up. Didn't replace filter correctly. Left covers off of outdoor unit drain lines. Still leaves and dirt on fins. Left old filter in AC closet. Called them back out 2 days later complaining that my AC stopped working after they were here. They sent Andrew tech back out but he did nothing other then offer to call out supervisor to sell new unit. Also added that if he touches anything he'll have to charge me...to fix what they seemed to have broken.  I know my unit is older but to go out immediately following their visit is more then suspicious. Getting quotes now for entire new unit and will likely go with Burgeson's just because this. Will  tell everyone I know to stay away from this company.

Our HVAC died.  We had to completely replace our old system. Being a teacher on a limited budget, I had to shop around.  Qualified with Hero and went shopping for not a good contractor, but a fantastic one who would listen to my family's needs and stay within a budget.  Got several qoutes from different companies.  Decided to go with Avis because Ed Ballard spent the time to explain every item I wanted, and what I needed and didn't need.  He took the time to look over my old system, roof, and attic. No other contractor spent as much time with us. He actually saved us money than what another contractor told us we had to do.  Plus, he was more knowledgeable.  We got a new system, roof repair and windows...all the items on my list at a good price.  Ed Ballard took care of us.  We got a great new system with all the new energy-efficient related items.  Not only are we cool, but the air filtering system is great for our allergies.  Ed was wonderful, and his team was very professional, respectful, and considerate.  They set up the times, kept to a schedule and always called in advanced to let us know when they would be arriving.  I highly recommend them if you need a new system or work done.  It has been a while since I had a contractor take such good care of us and our needs.  Since I have special needs kids, this is huge in my book.  I trust Ed Ballard and have asked his opinion on our other home repairs.  I have that much trust and faith in him.

I was really worried because getting a new ac/heating unit is very pricy. I looked this company up on yelp and looked at reviews and read nothing but good stuff!
Kris with a(k) came to my house and checked out my old ac unit and told me that it would still work for a while but the ducting was full of holes. He showed me pictures and told me that they can install new ducting . I asked if he could get someone out to give me estimate for the ducting. Coby came within 20 minutes and he and Kris explained to me all the cost of the job. I went with new ducting and ac/heating unit.

Miguel and his crew came within 2 weeks and finish the job in one day. They were very thorough and the unit is very efficient... I love my new AC heating unit!

I would definitely recommend this company. Great job you guys thank you!

This business is unethical and a down right  rip off.  A few years ago My wife (we were not married at the time) had this company, who touted themselves as being the best in the business, install a new heating and air conditioning unit in her house.  After about two years the unit was not working correctly so I called a very reputable company to take a look.   What they found was that the units duct work was undersized and installed in- correctly along with the size of the return air being way to small.  Also it was found that there was a part of the AC that was bad and needed to be replaced. ( they also said this part had to bad from the day it was installed)  This part was under a ten year warranty by the manufacture.  Avis also had to come out several times to balance the air, which they still never could get correct.

I called Avis, speaking to the owner who informed me that everything was properly installed. (if it was, why didn't it work?)  I asked him about the warranty on the part (capillary tubes)  and he said he would not do the warranty work.  This left me having to shell out the $1700 for the part and having to pay for the install, which I could not afford to do.  

Now, the heater has quit working.....do you even think  for a minute I would call this company....not on your life!  So what did we get for $5500, the same thing you will get....the shaft!

If you want a reputable company, call someone else, NOT THIS PLACE!  Unless of course you don't mind being taken to the cleaners!

Just had a visit to determine why my 12 year old air conditioner was only blowing hot air.  Was afraid that it could be a major repair or possibly a new system.  The service representative GLENN was very professional and polite.  After an inspection, I was informed that it was merely a $383 dollar capacitor.  Glenn repaired the piece, recharged the system and now it is performing great.  I highly recommend this company as they are both professional and honest.

Avis Home Services is the best! A big high five to Oscar S. from Avis Home Services. During his routine yearly plumbing inspection he found some issues that needed to be fixed right away (leak in garage washer water supply and water pressure regulator). He was very thorough and patient in his explanation as to which items really needed attention and those to just keep an eye on. I also had him replace a spigot in the front yard that was not functioning. Even though he had to make a special trip to obtain the necessary part, he fixed everything and even negotiated a discount for me! Avis gives me peace of mind knowing they warranty everything they do. Thanks again, Avis and Oscar!!

Emanuel was the repair representative that came. What a pleasure he was to work with. Explained everything, worked clean, checked everything and practiced Covid precautions including shoe coverings. I very much appreciated that. I joined there monthly membership as my units are not new and it will help with maintenance and any repairs needed down the line. MICHAEL EGAN IS THE BEST AC TECH!!!!!  I was in desperate need of a company to send out a technician and after many failed attempts I called AVIS Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning INC.  The customer service was excellent and the lady put Michael on the phone who was nice enough to walk me through specific directions in attempts to troubleshoot the problem.  After being patient with me and being on the phone with
Me for 45 minutes he came to my house.  He drove all the way from Victorville to my house in Riverside on a Sunday !!!!!!!  not only did he fix the AC quickly he educated me and gave me informative knowledge needed just in case future problems arise.  I would recommend this company and Michael to anyone.  Awesome work !!!

Our system was not blowing cold enough air and was doing it with much less force. We have our a/c maintenance tune up performed by Avis nearly every year.  Our a/c was installed in 2001 and runs great.
We also requested they replace our 40 year old ducting in the attic.  Fantastic job.  Professional, clean and efficiently performed job.
Owner Ed Ballard came to our home, explained everything and made sure we were in agreement with what we wanted/needed to be done.

Happy, over joyed am I and my husband, for the excellent job that was performed by AVIS!  From the first phone call to the last, and everything in between.  We were first only interested in HVAC air system.  After an informative estimate,  Richard helped to show me in detail the difference between the two.  What impressed me most was  the option without bias or pressure, the high ethics of the company, and the execution of all the work.  Attention to special details , everything and more  addressed. The installation team,  Miguel, and Jesus were a great team , in and out of my house for two days. They left my house better than they found it. Meticulous  clean up after themselves. Very knowledgeable,  polite,  and work like ninjas!!  if you haven't noticed ,we picked central air!!  A pretty voice named Brittany was always on top of every detail to connect the dots. I have been delighted to say that this company adheres to the employ of individuals that work great together. To the buyer on the opposite side it is awesome to receive their very best. This is an updated review regarding my first experience with A-Avis. Let me preface that when I'm happy with my experiences, I take time to write stellar reviews and my first 5 reviews on Yelp all got 5 stars!! I believe finding time to share good experiences because of how honest a company is and how they treat their customers first and foremost.

My original post was the very first 1 star review I gave because it was not a good experience for me, however, when management at this company heard my voice through Yelp, they reached out to me within the hour of posting it to make the situation right. Sheila from management assured me they will send a technician over the next day to fulfill my original request on what was quoted over the phone and I gave this company another opportunity. After my tankless water heater was serviced, I waited til the evening to make sure water was running and heating correctly and feel better about the situation.

The only thing I wish they could have done was simply problem solve this situation the same day. Since the office confirmed the recorded conversation that misinformation was given out, they should have honored the information immediately but it took something in writing for upper management to be able to see the disconnect. I'm a simple, happy Yelper, and I love giving out 5 stars but bc this was my first disappointing experience, I can only upgrade this experience from a 1 star to 4 star.

Maybe, if I have a bigger plumbing problem in the future, I will be able to contact you and have a pleasant experience and I will have an opportunity to give you a 5 star rating immediately afterwards. Thank you for reaching out!!

Our technician, Jesse Ayala, arrived at the house and explained all the details of the work he is about to do. He was very professional and knowledgeable and was very aware of what was going on with our air conditioning unit.

Look some place else, for your plumbing needs!!!!!!!! Beware they tell you what you want to hear!!!!!! I called on Thursday to get service for a leak, told them exactly what I needed because we believed it was under the concrete I even called back to make sure that there equipment to detect the leak could check PVC and she assured me that they had a camera and other leak detection tools that the service guy would bring with him. The appointment was for the next day (Friday) between 12-5, at 9am I get a call that the service tech that she was sending was out on an emergency call and would not make it out to my house at all that day, she said she could have him out Saturday and we agreed to the time of 2-5 at 2:15 I get a call that the tech will be at my house closer to 5. At about 4 the tech calls and says it will take him 40 minutes and am I ok with that. I said yes of course we have been waiting, I said I hope you have the tools you need and he said he needs to come look first. When he comes he asks some questions then he says he will need to jack hammer the concrete to find the leak, we said no you don't and asked where is the camera and the leak detection equipment that you were supposed to bring? he then proceeds to tell us ok well I'm going to be honest with you I started a month and half ago and when I started AVIS had a truck stolen and all the equipment was on that truck!!!!! So they lied to me from the beginning, I am so angry at them, this is bull that they can treat a costumer that spent over 10 grand with them on another project and just leave me with nothing being done.....I can't trust anything they say..... I would not give them any stars but it's making me give at least one!!!!!

I'm compelled to write the an update review on AVIS and my situation. After writing the initial review, I quickly received a call and visit from AVIS. Ed visited me and genuinely apologized for any misunderstandings and made it right beyond my expectation. Ed took the time to walk me through the details of the system.

For me, it is not so much about the resolution, as it is the straight-forward with integrity approach to resolve the situation. A company's success is predicated on its service, and I sincerely appreciate the AVIS team's undying effort to make it RIGHT! AVIS made it right. I would also like to add--it is not often you run into service providers that truly intend to exceed their customer expectations.  

I certainly recommend AVIS to friends and family. I will be using them on future needs.

I had A-Avis instal a new HVAC system for my home 4 years ago. It has worked perfectly since.  I signed up for their monthly maintenance program and I want to give a big thumbs up to technician Anthony who came out today and spent over 2 hours Cleaning, checking and notating all of the parameters and settings on my system!  All I paid for was the new filter!

Avis offers a $79.00 A/C pre-summer check.  A/C was working fine when the tech came out.  His recommendations amounted to almost $800 in service.  Had him charge the system for $250.  $350 if I did not get the maintenance package.  He also wanted to install an easy start capacitor for $450.  After a little research, I found that this part sells for $12 to $25 and can be added to the unit in less than 5 minutes.  This same pre-summer check was done by another Avis rep 2 years ago on my 10 year old unit and the tech found everything in great shape.  Scamming extra un-needed services may come mainly from the individual technician and not the company.  I was unlucky enough to get a real scamper.  Nonetheless, the company should be more critical of service that is performed by their individual techs.

What a lying  crook! He not only tries to take your money in the beginning but angles another way to take more money from you at the tail end. He has a terrible reputation in the community for ripping people off. Please do yourself a favor and go with someone else. He doesn't complete his work all awhile telling you he's going to be there. He isn't a man of his word and has consistently changed his agreement. His office staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. He wants you to pay and enter all these different agreements but doesn't follow through after He has your money in his hand. and beware He likes to use his wife as an excuse for his actions.

So far I've had an excellent experience with this company. First, with Walter fixing our upstairs AC unit and ensuring we received the best price possible. Recently had my annual heating system inspection by service tech Jesse and a separate annual plumbing inspection by service tech Ramon. We did a major Central unit changeout 5 yrs ago and have continued with the Avis silver program which includes annual inspections and discounts on parts and labor. Both technicians were total professionals, knowledgeable, and courteous and did a through job checking then sharing test results. Their service is top notch with an excellent support staff. Highly recommend these folks.

It was hot. Very hot. Record breaking heat as a matter of fact.  Did I mention it was HOT! I came home to an air conditioned home that was not working! I was very grumpy and HOT! I called Avis immediately. The office staff was so lovely on the phone. They talked me off the ledge and got me scheduled for service the following day, Saturday. Not 30minutes later, the office called and a tech was on the way. Yea!! Jose diagnosed the problem quickly ( a very filthy filter) , replaced it and got us back to the frozen tundra quickly.

Moral of the story? Save yourself time and always call Avis first. Best service, best people. Period.

I needed some upgrades for my older home and I'm glad that I found this company. Ed Ballard came to my home and we discussed about my need for new wall heaters. I'm glad that he decided to check my attic crawl space and my tank water heater because I was well overdue for a new replacement water heater and new insulation in the attic. Ed brought in 2 of his guys and finished up the work within 2-3 days.  Now during the wintertime, my home stays warm, the heaters work great with new electronic thermostats, my water heater upgrade is working just fine. I couldn't be more happy! Their prices are very reasonable and I was able to get easily approved through their financial loan company. I definitely recommend Avis for anyone that is in need of work done to their homes. Very trustworthy company, honest, friendly, and dependable. Michael did everything he could to repair the units and Christian was very informative and helpful in the process to replace the units. From beginning to end, this company was fantastic! Ed came to our home and inspected our  existing system.  He explained his system thoroughly and told us he could definitely help us lower our summer a/c bills! He was able to start our job very quickly.  His operation is so professional.  The crew he sent (Miguel and Christian) were exceptional! They were very punctual and worked hard all day.  This work is dirty and they didn't hesitate to jump right in and do whatever needed doing.  Their expertise is quite evident! The installation went flawlessly as did the insulation.  The office staff was very helpful and able to answer all questions regarding our new system.  We are so pleased with our new system and the air smells cleaner already!  Excellent overall experience, very professional on all levels! The whole experience was exceptional.   First was the process of deciding on the equipment,  after touring our home and checking out the old equipment.  Ed was very informative and provided 2 options,  we decided to go with a 16 seer system.  Once the decision was made, the whole process was fast.  Michael who did the installation and was impeccable,  wearing shoe coverings and a COVID-19 mask.  His assistant, Andrew was respectful as well.  They showed up as promised, on time.  Both were careful to keep our house, inside and outside, clean.  We are so pleased, especially with the current heat wave, knowing we can run the system affordability.   Our old system didn't have a seer rating,  and was cost prohibited to operate.

We recently moved into a 15-year-old house. Our HVAC system was on its last legs and needed to be replaced. Our water heater and pipes also needed replacement. We had very little insulation in our attic, and the whole system full of dust; the previous owners probably did not maintain anything beyond replacing A/C filters. So we called AVIS, and they got us scheduled within two weeks. This company is 3rd generation family owned, and Colby came to our house to explain how our current system was set up and how they would replace it. He was very thorough and professional. When the teams came, they were equally polite, thorough, and professional. More importantly, they were on time, and even made sure to clean up everything to the way it was pre-install. Everything trickles down from the top, and everyone at AVIS is the definition of professional. I highly recommend them!

The kitchen sink faucet had been leaking for some time. we called Service Champion, as we are members, and they sent  Rafael Barraza to do an initial check on the cause of the leak. He was extremely pleasant to speak to. He shared the options available to us, as the old faucet was not reparable. We paid the $19 for the initial visit yesterday. We requested that he come back to do the actual job. He was very friendly, but he never was less than professional. I would highly recommend his services to whomever might need a plumbing issue resolved. My husband and I are completely satisfied with the work provided by him and Service Champion.

Miguel Montano from Avis Heating and A/C came to my home this morning to repair a leak in my A/C unit and also to offer suggestions on how to permanently fix my A/C furnace filter access opening. Miguel and his partner were GREAT! Not only did they do a great job regarding the leak repair, but they were prompt, extremely courteous and explained everything I needed to know. Lastly, Miguel offered a recommendation for a viable solution for permanently fixing my A/C furnace filter access opening. Miguel even told me he will request that he personally be assigned the repair job. I'm one happy customer. While they resolved the slow kitchen sink drainage issue that I had, but I think it's after the fact that I felt they had upsold their hydro jet service which I paid $1100 for. I set up an appointment to have my AC serviced.  Austin and Josh came out when specified, took time to explain everything both before and after completing the required work.  They were both very informative without being pushy.  I ended up getting the membership in order to keep my unit in good working order as well as to keep an eye on my water heaters and heater.  They were very mindful of my home, wearing protective booties and placing a door mat at my front door as to not track anything inside.  I definitely would recommend this company for any of the services they offer.  If you are around the Jurupa Valley area you may be lucky enough to get Austin and Josh also!

I asked for an Estimate of Cost to put in Central Air in my Home.  I set an appointment, Richard was right on time  and within 1/2 hour I was SOLD.  He was very Professional, Knowledgeable, Nice, Respectful and Efficient.  What was the BEST was how Proud he was of HIS company, AVIS, and how much he LOVED HIS company!!

Within that very same week I had an appointment set for the installation of my new Furnace and brand new Central Air Conditioning.  James and Joey arrived on Schedule and began the process.  They were very Professional, Knowledgeable, Nice, Respectful and Efficient. They kept me informed of their work every step of the way. They also were VERY Proud of THEIR company, AVIS.  They LOVED working for THEIR company, AVIS.  Their positive attitude was evident in their whole demeanor towards their work, their humor was infectious, they were wonderful to have in my home for two full days!!  Thank you so much for sending James and Joey to install the Avis Products, they were FANTASTIC!!  They both deserve days off after all, what seemed like, extra work they put forth to complete my Central Air and of course, a Big Raise!!

My husband and I have utilized Avis for many, many years now, in fact Avis installed our Furnace over 10 years ago.  I have been a Club Member for the Furnace and the Water Heater for almost a Year now and Avis has always exceeded my Expectations.  They have always followed up with me before, during and after a Service Call.
If I could I would give Avis a 10 Star Rating.  I have worked in The Customer Service Industry for over 40 years and Avis reaches Above and Beyond all limits for their Customers!!

My Air Conditioner broke on a Wednesday had a inspector come and see it. Recommended a new one and would take two days until they could install. Come Thursday was told it could be installed a day earlier. Two young men named Michael and Andrew, I believe, came and installed it with professionalism and respect. I am handicapped and really need air conditioning to be comfortable. And they sent a young man named Chris to clean my airducts the next day and he too worked with professionalism. FIRST CLASS - PROFESSIONAL - TRUSTWORTHY.

We are very picky with men who enter our house since we have 3 kids. Their repair technician, sales rep, new install technicians, and phone customer service rep were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

FAST TIMELY SERVICE: Our HVAC system was working OK, but when we shut off gas to fumigate for termites, the gas company inspector said our heater furnace was bad. AVIS was able to come to our house within a few days - sooner than other HVAC companies in our area.

REPAIR SERVICE - ACCURATE AND TRUSTWORTHY: Their technician showed us the damage (he took photos) inside the heating unit, and also analyzed that the ducting system was inadequate for our house. He also showed me the old filter that the previous house owners had neglected to change for a long time. It was not even the right size, leaving a gaping hole so that the air was essentially unfiltered. He tested unit to ensure no carbon monoxide was leaking into our house. Then he replaced the filter with the right size and we were able to use our furnace/heater; however, he told us that the damage in certain parts would cause slow water leak and deterioration - which correlated with what I saw in the walls of the structure supporting the furnace. There were rusty water stains and deteriorating of the dry wall. The damage the technician reported also correlated with was the city gas inspector told us. The technician also wore shoe mitts/covers to keep our house floor clean. He was very respectful, polite, and technical proficient and knowledgeable - at least that is my opinion - and I am a former college aerospace engineering major, and currently practice as a physician (M.D.).

SALES REP: Analyzed the square footage of our house, how long we planned to stay in house, estimated age of our HVAC system, and explained the various types of HVAC systems we could purchase. We selected a basic model that still had a good reputation and was capable of supplying our house (5 ton system for 2100 sq ft 2 story house). He even gave us a deal on the HVAC filter. After we made our selection, he was not pushy or anything. He just gave us the facts, we selected the model based on our technical needs and personal preference.

INSTALLATION OF HVAC SYSTEM: Because of the good price AVIS gave us, we decided to replace our entire HVAC system. Within a few days, 2 technicians came. They removed the old units (1 in our backyard, and 1 unit in the garage), put the new systems in, and tested them out. Everything worked fine. They were professional and completed installation in about 9 hours.

AFTER INSTALLATION - The HVAC system they placed worked perfectly. We can tell it is much more powerful than our old system, and yet it is more energy efficient. So more heat and cool air (depending on season) for less cost.

I am very happy with A-Avis service on my rental property!  I had a call from a tenant that the washer was flooding the garage (a call that no one wants to get).  Fortunately, I was given a recommendation from a friend to try Avis and that they would be very ethical and fair priced.  So I called and within the hour they sent out a tech who was able to assess the issue quickly (a clogged pipe).  They snaked it and everything was back to normal!
I have already recommended them to a friend for his HVAC to be replaced and I have a project in Big Bear that I plan to hire them to complete as well!

I contacted this company to get some business plumbing work done.  I got a call back from them stating We don't do plumbing, only A/C work.   I explained to he man who called back that their Yelp AD (and pictures) all show A-AVIS doing PLUMBING work, and A/C.  This was in Palm Desert, CA.
I suspect it is a broker type service.

We have been customers for AVIS for many many years. They have been great and professional everytime we call them and on time when we have an appointment. Recently we had a issue with our heater and it died after 30 years. So they offered a really great deal for a new heater. We made a deal and they did an amazing job the heater is better saves money and since they helped cleaned out our ducts the AC is working better then ever. We want to say thankyou to AVIS because they always get the job done and clean up after themselves like they where never there.

I inherited Service Champions from Avis Heating/AC. When the 17-year-old AC unit I purchased from Avis quit working Service Champions diagnosed the problem as a fan motor issue.

The fan motor was $824.00, the fan blade was $363.00 and the fan control unit was another $363.00 for a total of $1550.00. However, the fan motor would take a week and a half to receive. They suggested I consider purchasing a new unit and I requested an estimate.

I called Ballard Heating/AC for a second opinion. When the Service Champions technician saw the Ballard truck he called his boss to cancel the estimate.

The Ballard technician was able to replace the fan motor using the existing fan blade, recharged my system, and got it up and running for the same $1550.00 They also suggested a new unit and gave me an estimate on the spot and would deduct the $1550 off the price of a new unit.

The following day Service Champions refused to even give me an estimate when they found I was getting other estimates.  I do not trust nor would I recommend Service Champions.

As a side note Ballard Heating/AC is installing a new Carrier unit on my house as I write this review.

The team from A Avis was extraordinary all through the process of working with them. From the appointment set up, to our estimate and honest assessment of the work to be done, and the actual work itself, we felt taken care of. Ed Ballard and his team had a fairly big residential job to do for us: 2 new HVAC systems, redoing electrical, installation of an attic fan. Our tech explained everything and did a great job cleaning /servicing our Heater .. We have a big Carrier unit and he took the blower motor out n showed us that it's ok now but a tad of oil so keep up the servicing to keep it in check .. He took out the blower outside n cleaned !!
46 yrs in this house n never had that done !! Heater/AC only 8 yrs old but this guy did everything except make dinner lol To add another incentive we had a coupon .. saved $$$

I called and sent a picture of the of where our A/C units were and they said they cannot do it because it's over 30 feet. We pointed out that they should be trained and then they hung up on us.

Don't send fliers out if you cannot do something that's technically your job. It's deceptive! Put that information on your fliers!

As part of our membership we scheduled a plumbing maintenance. Jose came out to inspect everything. He found corrosion on our new water heater. He took pictures to show us the problem and was able to make repairs on the spot. We also had a problem with the toilet running and we asked him to repair that too. No problem. This is the third time we had Service Champions out for maintenance or repair and we've had great experiences each time.

My husband and I were tired of the upstairs of our 2 story home never cooling. We contacted several companies and decided to go with AVIS. They had stellar customer service! I signed up for the quarterly check-ups, each time someone came to my home I was told I needed a new filter, even though, I  purchased the best filter they sell a few months earlier.

I canceled the service and I am still getting billed for the service. Do not buy there service for $17.95, a month, it is not worth the money.

This morning, I received a call from Ed, at Avis. He was very apologetic and wanted to make things right. He was very sincere and addressed all of my concerns, I was very surprised by the call. Ed, is a business owner that wants to please the customer. I retracted my negative review, and will continue with Avis.

We had Avis air and plumbing to our home for repiping of our plumbing pipes and this week we had our ducts completely replaced. This type of work is completely very hard type work. The two men who came todo the work was named Leo and Gabriel. They really work extremely hard at their profession This service took one long long day, but their work ethic was incredible. We couldn't tell them enough how much we appreciated their work and how they used many tarps inside the house. The end result will be around for years to come. We or the next owners will appreciate how cool the inside of the house will be. With this green ducts coming with a lifetime warranty, we look forward to any hot days. First hot day of summer, so we switch on the AC and instead of cooling the house we turned it into an inferno. Called Avis the next day and they were able to fit me in same day despite the high demand (major points for that). The tech, Carlos came out to give our system an eval. He was an absolute professional as well as being friendly. In this era of Covid he kept my mind at ease with proper PPE and was very conscious safety wise. Despite wearing the mask in 96 degree weather he was friendly and professional. He gave very detailed explanations and let me watch as he checked the system out. Really impressed that he was able to maintain his composure after spending a while in an 120 degree plus attic. Can't recommend Carlos enough, tradesmen of that caliber are quite rare. Alas; our condenser was shot, and since it used R22 as the coolant, it was not feasible price wise (or environment wise) to fix it. Once Carlos and I discussed, he offered to get someone out who could give me an estimate for a couple of options. He called the owner (Ed) and Ed was willing to drop what he was doing and came over immediately and walked me through the options with our system. He was very honest about what needed to be replaced and what didn't. Luckily our coil is also compatible with R410 which will save us a few grand easily. That's not something many companies would have pointed out.  Really genuine guy. Also, very committed to making deals happen. During these uncertain times, these bonafide pros made life quite a bit easier.

If you ever receive a letter from A-Avis offering their services please do not hesitate to give them a try, you will not be sorry! That is what I did and I want to share my very positive experience. I had them come over to do a tune-up on my furnace. Glenn was the tech and he was so knowledgeable and friendly and let me know facts about my HVAC system that no other company had ever bothered to inform me about. After going up in the attic he told me that the ductwork was in really bad shape (I was aware of this from past maintenance done by other companies) I said I could not afford to get it fixed and that is when the topic of the HERO program was discussed. I said I would like more info and an appointment was arranged the very next day with the owner, Mr. Ballard. I liked the fact that this is a family business and Mr. Ballard is very easy to talk to and explained all of the products and services they offer that would end up making my home a more healthy environment. He ended up with a very excellent plan including new ductwork, HEPA filter, air scrubber and new insulation. The day all of the work was performed went perfectly. The team consisted of Glenn who cleaned the blower and coil to make it like new again. Chunn worked on the HVAC unit and reconfigured it to place the filter unit into the correct alignment and also fixed some other components that were never done correctly on the original unit. Very outstanding at what he does! Clint was great and worked very hard installing the new ductwork. All team members were friendly, efficient, very hard working, and tidy and most important to me they did not seem to mind all of my many questions throughout the process :) The next day I had the insulation team come here and once again could not have been more pleased with everything they did. Excellent in every way! Do not want to leave out the wonderful office staff who were super at calling me every step of the way to keep me informed of arrivals and always seemed happy to answer my many questions. My HVAC system is working the best it has ever been and I look forward to saving money as well on my gas and electric bills in the future. Thank you Mr. Ballard for everything, so very pleased and feeling blessed that I found your company!!

we have an appointment for AC Tune-up service on 8/11/23 ,with Service Champions Plumbing Heating & AC , to just keep our AC function good since we have a baby and run the AC 24/7. Raymond did good job doing the Tune-up of the system and after he finished the inspection of the whole system he recommended reduct in attic  and called Cristian to give us an estimate. Cristian came around 5:30pm and gave us an estimate that was $13,000 and very pushy and tries over sell and came down to $11,300 due to a special his boss told him. He talked us to apply for a credit card with 18 months of 0% in interest rate. We keep telling him to give us a time to think about it but he insisted we sign for this deal otherwise the price will go up and let my wife apply for the credit card and sign the contract. I called the company the next day on 8/12/23 to cancel the appointment and the contract. Stephen who answered the phone was nice and told me someone will call back in an hour and cancel for me. I waited 2 hours and no one called me back and called the office back and she said she was sorry and she will cancel the order herself. I requested an email about the canceling ,she promised she will but I didn't get any confirmation email. After waiting about 30 minutes I called back and Andrew answered the phone and he promised me it's cancelled. He also stated that every conversation is always recorded, I don't know why they don't want email or text the confirmation for canceling .just to make sure,I also emailed them to cancel and no response.  I also called Cristian to let him know we are canceling but he was not happy about it and trying to tell me we signed a contract but I told him we have 3 days to cancel and he corrected me and said we have 5 days. He told me someone will call me to help me cancel since there's a paperwork to sign. The guy who called me, I think an area manager tried to offer me a 25% discount , knocked the price to $8,500.since we decided to get a 2nd opinion we declined the offer. This guy are like a salesman. I still recommend the tech Raymond who did the Tune-up.

Not a fan of the experience I had on the initial call with the dispatch line, but once being connected with the technician, everything was great! I got a technician named Christian, who serviced my home in Riverside, and he is awesome, definitely an asset to the company, he went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and taken care of, and I hope the company treats him well, and rewards his excellent service!

I'm going to keep this simple, when I pay $6500 for a complete new A/C system, I expect it to be installed correctly and have what was agreed on actually completed by the install team. I hired A Avis to replace my entire system and after meeting with Ed, agreed for the work to start the following day. Yes he's a salesman and yes he talks a lot but I don't hold that against him, it's his job to sell his company, as long as I get what I'm paying for. After the install was completed and the crew left I noticed a loud gurgling sound coming from the bathroom sink. After doing some research online, I decided to take myself into the attic and noticed water on the ground. Naturally this caused me to panic so I immediately took a picture, sent it to Ed and he said to shut the system down for the night and they'd have someone come out in the morning. An older, more experienced technician from Avis came out the next morning and said that the condensation pipe was done wrong (by the installers) so he changed it and everything should be fine. Me being a worrier, I decided that since that had been done wrong in the first place, it would probably behoove me to have another set of eyes come inspect the full system just in case. So, out comes another company who I now know to be 100% honest and trustworthy, to inspect the system. Not long after hooking up his sensors, he called me into the attic to show me first hand what a few of the issues were with the install. Part of the install deal was having all my ducts checked and sealed, which was not done. I personally felt the air leaking out from almost every duct where they meet the system and the sensors said 70% of the air was escaping into the attic. Problem number two, there's a sensor on the unit that controls how much Freon flows through the system and it being misplaced can damage the system. It was just placed on a line in the wrong area, without mounting hardware which we found in the attic, new in the box tossed to the side. Third issue was again, the condensation line...oh that dang condensation line, didn't have a trap so he rebuilt that as well. Bottom line is, what was supposed to be just an inspection turned into a $625 job that carried on for 5 hours to fix the issues from the install team from Avis. Why didn't I call Avis you ask and demand they fix these issues? Because I only trust you once, and the second you break that, I'm done with you and will eat the cost just to have peace of mind. Now Ed I know your reputation and anyone who reads these reviews can see that any time a negative one is posted you tend to freak out and start demanding things by bombarding them with phone calls. Not gonna work with me, I work for the federal government so if I get one text or phone call from you, you've been warned. Use this as a learning opportunity, humble yourself and work on quality, not quantity :)

A letter from A-Avis Plumbing-Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. stated a FREE one year Maintenance Agreement including a Precision Tune-Up and Cleaning on your air conditioner or furnace because you are kind enough to read this letter and give me a chance to solve your problem.  I want you to think well of A-Avis Plumbing-Heating and Air Conditioning, even if you do not buy.
Ed Ballard, President, came to our house and tried to sell us furnace upgrades of $3,535.  We told him we were only interested in the $575 furnace cleaning package.  Ed told us he couldn't do just one item, as they were priced as a package.   The furnace cleaning was usually $1200.  Over four days of calling back and forth Ed finally told us he could do the furnace cleaning for $575 and his office would call us for an appointment.  His office never called, in spite of what the letter said.
Ed told us our blower wheel was packed with dirt and blower motor was filthy.  He showed us a blower wheel picture having no space between the slats.  Only it wasn't a picture of our blower wheel, as it turns out.
Two professional Heating and Air Conditioner workman just left our house. They spent 3 hours completely cleaning and flushing the compressor, the blower motor, blower wheel, furnace return cabinet and the A-coil box, giving it a tune-up while we watched everything they did.   The workmen indicated everything in our furnace had a normal amount of dirt; nothing was filthy or excessively dirty.  The workman had us personally check the blower wheel which was NOT packed with dirt.   Ed did not show me a picture of my blower wheel, but someone else's blower wheel to sell me his products.
The best part?  Two professionals not selling me something, actually knowing what they are doing and doing a job under my inspection cost me a total of $250.00.
My recommendation?  Ed Ballard should be a car salesman.  You expect everything out of car salesmen's mouth to be anything but the truth.   Ed Ballard's letter above is nice - but not truthful.  Run away fast from A-Avis wanting to take your hard earned money.

Unfortunately, they lit my curtains on fire. They used hammers to open the walls instead of a drywall knife. Leaving extensive damage.
Had to have them come back 4 times to fix leaks before I closed the walls. Left trash in the walls and on my property to include cigarette butts, nails, drywall, pieces of pipe, etc. Broke my ladder.
Total I paid $7,000.

They did replace my curtains. Yay!

Fast forward to 2018
I am having a tub remodel and my contractor says there is a leak.
Unfortunately, it turns out there were multiple failures in the pipes. There were bent and cracked pipes. There were joints put in that never should have been. Attached are photos and video of what I found in my walls. Copper touching metal. No strapping of the pipes, all free floating. Please note all the wood damage also.

Unfortunately. They want to charge me $600+ to pull a toilet (Yup, I did it myself in under 10 minutes) they want to charge me $300 to cut the drywall (yup did it myself in under 15 minutes). That drywall cost was just to cut it open, not repair. Then the cost of repairing their atrocious work...we didn't even get that far. I sent him packing.  

I have also been informed that NONE of the pipes in the walls or attic were strapped. Everything was free floating.

Then upon seeing the above review, they contacted me and wanted to make things right.  Unfortunately I had already paid someone else to fix the pipes in the bathroom in order to move forward with my remodel.  So they agreed to fix a few other things for me.

They did a furnace maintenance, they strapped the water pipes in the attic and sealed and hung my air ducts. YAY!!!

Unfortunately, that night, where they strapped the pipes, it caused another pipe to fail and leak in the attic.  4am on a Saturday morning, I wake to my poor fire alarm drowning.  I go into the attic, identify the leak, shut off the water to my house and contact Avis.

About 7am, a wonderful guy arrives and is able to fix the leak.  He also says that he will be back in a couple days and fix all the free floating pipes in the attic.  True to his word, he does come back and ensures that the pipes in the attic are installed properly and properly strapped.  I believe his name is Carlos and HE deserves a 5 star! YAY

I had to fight it out to get the ceiling repaired, but eventually they did agree to fix my damaged ceiling.

They did eventually make me whole again. BUT with a fight so I give that a C.  
BUT, yes, this was a HUGE series of Unfortunate Events!

I have been a customer of Avis for a number of years.  Every time they come out to do my heater and air maintenance, they have been fantastic!  I learned that my ducts needed to be replaced.  Matthew explained this in a friendly and professional manner.  When I realized I needed to speak to someone else to explain further and set up an appointment, Matthew was able to have Colby come by the house a couple of hours later to set up an appointment.  This was on Wednesday. By Friday, three great installers showed up and got the complicated work done in less than 4 hours!  They were Sylis, Chris S., and Richard H.
This couldn't have happened without the scheduling and phone support from the main office.  I would like to also put a shout-out to Laura and Veronica for making this all happen.
This company has an amazing team!  I highly recommend them!
PS  All the Avis members who have come over, are very sensitive to the disruption of my cat's daily routine and are very careful about opening and closing doors.  They are true animal lovers as well!!

Good service, and thorough work by the techs, but the owner will try to upsell you on everything. Way overpriced. There's always a reason for it, i.e. state of the art or guaranteed to last longer but no real option for cost savings. Spoke with the owner Ed several times to agree on a price to replace my HVAC system. He's friendly but clearly a salesman. Ed told me they would guarantee a price match if we got a lower estimate elsewhere - but once I contacted him with a lower estimate, he gave me several reasons why they couldn't match the price. We finally agreed on a price and I agreed to delay the work until after their busy season was over. Ed promised to honor the quote we agreed to, but when he contacted us again the cost increased. Shop around. Not worth it.

I was so impressed with these guys.  They have been doing my annual maintenance for years now and they came the other day, gave me a new filter and then didn't charge me as they felt it was wrong since my furnace was still under warranty.  When you ever get anything free these days?  I will use them again once my warranty is over and next time, pay them!

I recently had my whole heating and AC system replaced by Avis Plumbing, Heating and AC. Ed came out an examined my old system and made recommendations on what we needed. They did not try to oversell us and gave us options on every component. Our old AC unit used R22 Freon which is soon to be unobtainable so a new and more efficient system was definitely needed.  After we signed our contract, the crew showed up the next week to install.  It was originally estimated to take 3 days.  This crew was totally professional and completed the installation in 1 1/2 days.  The cleaned up after themselves and did a very neat installation.  The furnace is located in the attic area so they had do everything through a 4 x 4 foot opening.  I am not one who normally gives out 5 star rating, but this company definitely deserves one.  If you need plumbing, AC, Heating work done this is the company to go to.

Great service, Colby is very friendly and reachable. He was family friendly and was very patient with my toddlers and dogs. Miguel and Alex were amazing with the installation and were also very patient with kids and dogs. Welcome questions and was very friendly. Highly recommend them!!!!!!! So my husband and I bought a house almost a year ago in Redlands. We bought an old flipped home with everything new including a nice in-ground pool...only negative side- no central air, only a swamp cooler. ...but we got a pool home!!!
So we have been living in our first home for about 8 months now and was finally able to put in central air this last weekend!!!  We hired Avis for all the work. They installed all the duct work, cut in the vents, had a crane put the unit on our roof. Everything was taken care of....no drama or extra costs. I was home while my husband was at work. Four guys were in a crew. They worked very hard for 2 days and somehow got it all done! They were always smiling, courteous, and most importantly- worked as a team with each other. When it was all done they cleaned up afterwards...and don't forget those red foot booties- always clean & respectful to the floor & furniture. Would I hire them again? Hell yes! THANKS for installing our central air AVIS! This summer is not going to suck in the Candelaria house!!!!

This is my third time using Avis from Colton in the last year.  (Each time for a separate problem - when it rains it pours)  My most recent issue was a duct problem for my air and heating.  Chhun came from the company and provide excellent service for me.  He was very friendly and informative of the work he was doing.  I had nothing to clean up when he was done unlike some companies that tend to leave a mess.  I would highly recommend Avis out of Colton, Ca for any air, heating and plumbing issues.

I'm the most recent heatwave, we had high heat and humidity. The primary and backup condensation drains on my HVAC unit were clogged and condensation from the AC evaporator overflowed the catch pan and started dripping through one of my ceiling ducts.

A-Avis came out promptly and fixed the issue quickly with a minimum of hassle and for a decent price. The technician who provided the service was friendly, professional, and informative.

The tech did very well until his supervisor showed up and hurried him along. My guess was it was the beginning of a holiday week end (Easter) and working on a friday would be slightly inconvenient. Everything was completed but the B.S. was flowing.They pointed out some relevant hidden issues (dust bunnies accumulating in the evaporator) but nothing that had not been pointed out before. The only question I have is why does the furnace get maintenance when the season is over. The answer is we have so many customers its difficult to keep up. Keep up the good work pull back on some of the BS.

We needed a new air conditioning system and we contacted several different businesses but when we called A-Avis we knew immediately we had found the right company. Colby came out and took the time to explain all of our options. He gave us a price lower than we thought possible but still competitive. He wash friendly and made us feel we were talking to someone we had known for years.  We were totally sold. The following couple of weeks we had our other air conditioner worked on and got several other needed services completed in the house. Avis Heating and Air has followed through.
After a few telephone calls to Avis - Avis had a technician at our home the next day  to repair the defective coils in the unit at no cost. Our technicians Sean and Kris worked tirelessly for 8 hours repairing our product and doing the final diagnostic tuning to make sure our unit was in perfect running condition. We were more than pleased with their professionalism and knowledge.

Our Customer service professional Sheila also did a great job of coordinating the job and keeping in touch before, during, and after the repair.

The owner Mr. Ballard also followed up with a personal telephone call to me after I had left him a message and I appreciate that.

Avis had also decided to refund our original $89.00 diagnostic fee.

I have decided based on the service received, workmanship, and the integrity that Avis showed by standing next to their products, I would up my rating to 4 Stars- I have left one star off due to the aggravation and disappointment experienced from the first service call.

I hope in the future Avis can be fair and professional the next time we call them for maintenance and service.

The products and their service is substandard and financially they will take you for a ride - the warranty on their products is useless considering the labor on warrantied items is very out of line with market prices for the same service.

I don't know how you sleep at night Mr. Ballard-- you had been to my home - sold us your products - and now won't stand behind a unit that failed us that is barely over 2 years old!

We are beyond pleased with the service, attention and work. We replaced our entire HVAC system and the work is so professional.

Colby is super knowledgeable and a genuine cool guy. He made the initial process simple and we didn't feel pressured at all through our decision process. He took his time explaining things and was so patient with all our questions.

WOW... the customer service that I have received from this company was OUTSTANDING. ED (Company Owner) and his A-AVIS team of high skilled technicians delivered exactly what was promised and agreed to on time. ED was very forthcoming on the sales and installation, which is why his company has been around for over 60 years. Being in the building industry, it is hard to find contractors that are trustworthy and can deliver on what is promised. ED & his A-Avis team has demonstrated that they are not in business to make and quick buck and run, rather they are interested in building a long-lasting relationship with their customers. Me and my wife were in need of a new ac, heating unit, and duct work.  I Had three different company's do an inspection and Avis stood out on top.  As a result, Ed inspected our unit completely inside and out. He checked the wiring at the main breaker, ac unit, air intake, and climbed in the attic to check the duck work.  He found the air intake was to small for the unit and unit was starving for air, as result, costing me more in electricity.  Also he found the wiring from the main breaker was bad and needed replacement (this issue was confirmed by my brothers who are electricians).  What I observed was Ed went above and beyond, Ed and his staff are great. In addition, Ed and his team are always polite and available to answer any questions.  Ed wrote a thorough contract with no hidden fees and a personal promise which he has not broken.  I was really satisfied with the work.  Once his workers we're done completing the job, Ed came back inspected the system found that adjustment were needed and his staff quickly took care of it.  I'm very pleased with the work they did and service they provided.  There is no buyers remorse here.  I can go to sleep at night and know if anything goes wrong with my system Avis will be there to take care of me.  If you want a reputable company to do Heating and Air, I strongly suggest you use Avis. In addition, a week later I installed solar panels (different company) on my home, with Ed's knowledge of his units he helped me pick an efficient unit, now My electric bill is maybe $2.00 a month in addition to my solar bill. I'm very happy. And you will too.

When selecting a service provider for home improvements, it's very difficult to assess if you're making the best decision. You have to rely on your instincts, good judgment and some level of trust in the individual making promises about what you can expect to get.
Regardless of how good a company is, once in a while they have a mis-step, make a mistake or things don't go according to plan. How the company responds to these situations define who they are and what kind of personal character they have.
I hired A-Avis to install a new Air conditioning/Central heating system in my home, along with upgraded attic insulation. Ed Ballard, the owner, made some promises to me and I chose him as my vendor despite a higher price because I believed him and trusted he would do what he said. After the job, I found some issues that I was not happy with that were a big deal to me and I got the impression that he was just not the person I thought he was. Boy was I WRONG!
a year and a half after the unit was installed, Ed found out that I was unhappy and he personally drove to my office to meet me. He very humbly apologized, went over every issue I had a problem with and rectified everything well beyond my expectations.
Reputation is important to the success of a business and a good reputation is built upon always doing the right thing, even if it ends up costing you money.
I can say without equivocation that Ed Ballard and his company are worthy of your faith and trust in providing you service. Chances are good that everything will go perfectly, but even when they don't, this man will make it right, because that's what men of integrity do.
I highly recommend A-Avis for that reason. They will NOT LET YOU DOWN!

Got a letter from them a while back about an air condition tune up. My air sounded like the blower was going out. Called at around 8:40a July 21st, 2019, the lady on the phone took down my info, I told her the issue and the last thing she said was a tech will give you a call. I have heard that enough times from companies to know at this point it was time to move on to another business. I never got a call and it is now 10:35p as I write this review. Needless to say I have to wait now for another company to come out tomorrow. Sucks when it is 100°+ and your air is out or about to go.

On 12/18/19 I had my AC unit installed and I just wanted to give a shout out to Mike H and Andrew for their kindness.  I work out of my home and they were very respectful of that, which I appreciated the most.  There were two other things that stood out from these two that I think is reflective of the overall experience I had.  As they were leaving they showed me the unit and I noticed the foam (not sure of the proper name) that covered the wiring and simply made the comment, more to myself than to them, something about my new puppy was going to get to that (her chew phase).  Again, not saying it to them or expecting anything I was thinking out loud as to how I could prevent that, next thing I know they are covering that with a better material.  This material has not been touched since the install and I must say looks better than the original cover.  The second thing was as they were leaving they informed me that the furnace filter needed replacing and again out loud I said oh I have one in the garage, they immediately offered to put it in if I would get it.  Even when I said I would have my sons do it, they insisted on doing it.  Thank you Mike H and Andrew for going above and beyond as in both of these cases they did not have to do this as any part of the process.

From my first connection with Colby who was knowledgeable and polite, never did I feel pressured. When I called again almost a year later Colby was as kind as the first time.  From sales, to scheduling, to installation the experience was great.  it seems to me this family owned business has maintained the kind of business that many businesses are lacking.  Thank you for making my AC (and attic installation) a great experience.

So to clarify..... I am a homeowner in San Bernardino and have no affiliation to any heating and air conditioning company. I attempted to find a company to fix my HVAC. I felt they were selling me products I didn't need. The owner called me and asked even begged me to take down my post assuring me that his tech was just doing his job. He even gave me back my service call fee, which I appreciated. Unfortunately I could not take it down on principle alone then I was offered a free AC system red flags all over this. Just focus on honest repair recommendations and maybe you'll get more positive feed back from future customers.Thank god i wrote this comment obviously it got your attention, please buyer beware!!!!!!! Use whoever you feel comfortable, I mention BHI because they took care of me multiple times and yes the price was right. I Recommend you alway get other quotes no matter who you use. Avis has to many gimmicks and add on club prices, that's a flag.

I had a A-Avis heater/ AC installed in our two story condo. Ed was very polite and helped work with our credit with no hesitation. In the end he gave us a great deal. As for the service, the gentlemen who came to install  our new heater/ AC, were on time, were respectful and  did there job right. They immediately started working as soon as they got there. They did not only get rid of our old air and heater conditioner, they also replaced the old wires with new ones and got it all done within a matter of hours. On Friday March 31, 2023 Rafael came to my home to perform a plumbing maintenance.  He was very professional and courteous.  Rafael took the time to explain to me what he was doing and why I needed certain plumbing maintenance.  My anode rod needed to be checked and changed every year.  Unfortunately my anode rod was stuck.  But just because he took the time to explain everything to me I now know what I need to do.  If you want amazing service and care, call Service Champions in Colton and request Rafael. We have been customers of Avis for several years. They always call to confirm appointments and always keep us updated when the service person will be arriving AND when they are on their way. They always arrive ready to work and are up front with pricing. For the most part they are always on time. Occasionally they get held up on other jobs, but they will call and let you know if it happens. You won't be left wondering.

We have one of their plans that covers air, heat and plumbing service and Inspection every 6 months. George came to service our air conditioner today. He was nice enough to take photos and show me what issues we had going on in the ducting so I wouldn't have to climb up into the attic. What is nice is they give you discounts on the service and any work needing done when you have a plan. They have a detailed color guide with pictures, pricing and product details to show you exactly what you're getting all up front.

Another person that came out about 2 years ago was so kind to our dog. They were servicing the air conditioner snd our little dog fell in love with him and jumped right up to him. He was so kind, he stopped what he was doing and gave our little dog petting and attention.

I'm not easily impressed with anything, but I have always been impressed with Avis. Always professional and they even wear shoe covers so your carpets don't get dirty. We have tan carpet, even though it's old, we still appreciate the respect they have for our home.  

Don't think twice about calling this company. They work hard in every way to provide top quality service!

Ps: We have had Avis for over 10 years. They've been to our home more than 20 times, installed our heater and air conditioner as well as our hot water heater.  No complaints whatsoever.

We purchased and had these people install our heating and air conditioning unit 1o years ago.  We have used them off and on for servicing.  We decided last year to get regular maintenance for a monthly charge.  Every time they came out they found something wrong.  The last item was a crack in our heat exchanger.  Only $1200 labor for a warranted part.  We then got another option.  They found the unit had not been cleaned properly(what we were paying them monthly for), but the heater had been missed sized from the start and therefore was making the unit use more BTUs and also heating up to much causing damage.  Save yourself some dollars and DON'T use these crooks.

I have been using AVIS for my air conditioning and heating repairs for the past 15 years.  Technicians at AVIS have been very knowledgeable and quick to get my air conditioning problems solved in a timely manner, plus, they have always quoted me a fair and reasonable price.
In September 2016, I had owner, Ed, come out to my house to give me a quote on a new HVAC system installation since my existing old unit was installed back 30 years ago before I owned my house and now leaking Freon.  Ed quoted me a competitive price, and after getting two other quotes, I decided to have AVIS install my new HVAC system with complete ducking in my home.  The new AC unit works great and my husband and I couldn't be happier with the work that was completed.  I am very pleased with AVIS and would highly recommend them to anyone.  I want to give a two thumbs up to Miguel and Nathan, my AVIS installers. Great work guys!  Thank you, Ed and the whole AVIS team.

I recommend Avis for your air and heating maintenance.  This is the 2nd time I asked for their help.  I do expect any home appliances can break anytime.  But my stress does not come from the broken system but rather finding the one you can trust.  Where do you start?  Trust is earned so how do you do it when you probably need this type of service once in your lifetime.  I've learned of Avis from my church.  In my point of view that is a good starting point.  And I was not disappointed.  The team did a wonderful job for me.  As always I do not expect a perfect workmanship from anybody.  The way that imperfection is handled is what impresses me.  My heating units are in the attic.  These units are huge so there was no choice but to cut part of the ceiling.  That part was restored better than it was before.  To make the long story short, I am happy and enjoying my new A/C heater with FILTRATION system.  My wife is happy because she does not have to cook outside the house:)  The filtration system cleans the air making it smell fresh all the time.  The best part, I have a direct line to the owner for any issue I may have now and in the future.  How is that for trust building?

Had a leak in my pipe going into the house and called Service Champions. I have used them before with great results. Jose Cayetano came to the house on time. He informed me about the job, what was involved, as well as the estimate. We agreed and he work quickly and efficiently to complete replacing the pipe.

These people are overpriced and dishonest. My A/C wasn't getting as cold as it used to so I looked on Yelp and saw this company had good reviews.  The technician comes to my place and checks the temperature coming out of the vent and checks the A/C unit.  Tells me I am low on refrigerant and I have an evaporator coil leak and it will be $500 for refrigerant (a temp fix) and $3500 to fix the leak.  I'm looking at him crazy because I already looked online to see prices on refilling refrigerant and the $500 he quotes was way more than the high end pricing.  I pay the service fee and send him on his way.  Not sure if it was because I am a woman, but I would never use this company again.  I had an honest company come and do my repairs for much less and I am very satisfied.

I'm in need of repiping my home and am a returning customer to A-Avis.  The work will be financed. I could have gone with a lower bid but I believe you get what you pay for.  This will be a great investment. Getting this new work done will bring peace of mind by having better drinking/ shower water running thru my home for my family. I had a new a/c unit installed with A-Avis yrs ago. They coordinated with my roofer and my home looks great. We are very comfortable in our home. Glad we did this work.

They installed a new system about 4 years ago. The pan in the attic leaked due to their repairmen  putting used duct tape in pan and clogging up drain. Owner came out  had installers re-taped unit in attic. Problem is we are still left with living room ceiling to repaint with yellow 2ftx18 in stain. They want you to sign their service contracts to get discount on repairs but prices are pretty inflated anyway. We had one originally but used for plumbing line break in yard and had to turn off water to house. Small yard and with discount ? $2500.

I am a Service Champion fan! We got our A/C unit from this company and we bought the service agreement for maintenance. Well, today they earned more of our business. Initially they thought we may need a new furnace because it was not kicking on with the thermostat action. But they did another service call (free with maintenance agreement) today with a different set of eyes and were able to troubleshoot the problem and fix the furnace. In an age where you think HVAC companies are trying to up sell all the time, this was awesome and I'll be with them for a long time to come. I hate calling seevice repair, I expect to overpay and get a salesman not a tech, and the endless wait for them to show up, with that said, our AC needed serious help and I called A-Avis...They responded next morning, went over with myself the issues we were having, inspected the system, walked over every inch of what the found and gave me a course of action and recommendations my tech Richard Toscano was awesome, freindly, total proffesional guy, even listened to my shadetree mechanic diagnosis, face it guys were all experts in our heads. He let me know our system was actually in good condition but (and I agree) due to running without the proper, clean filter installed, even running lenghts of time with no filter I had basically clogged the fans and evap up so there was no flow and suggested pulling unit and complete bath shall we say. Next day he showed up spent a cple hours cleaning everything, looks like the day it was installed new in 07, I mean you can see the pride he puts into his work and Avis should be proud of him, he is an asset to their company. You should give them a try, well worth the time and money, I even joined their club membership, 17.50 a month, the come out annually check ac any plumbing issues, replace filters. Not very often I get excited about calling repair services, I'm glad I did this time...

We had a new HVAC system and new ducking installed in our home. Everything this company did from day was great. Ed came out to quote my job and was very detailed and thorough. He took his time to explain the process and the new system. When his guys came out to install everything they were very professional and courteous. They covered my floors and furniture from dirt and debris. They cleaned up everyday before they left for the day. They took their time to install everything correctly and to code. Now that everything is installed there is a huge difference between what I had before. The new system is awesome and wish I did this years ago. This company is awesome and I would recommend them to everyone.

Exceptional service for heating and air. Not so much for plumbing. We had Avis install a new heating and air system in our house. Such great work. Great employees. Thanks Chris and Anthony! But their plumber was 7 days over what he said it would take. They seemed understaffed in plumbing so kept having to pull him off the job to do other work. Ed Ballard is the owner and did come through in the end. If you need AC or furnace work you couldn't do better than Avis.

We're enjoying a nice cool house while it's scorching outside!
We needed our entire home HVAC replaced, from removing bad ducting and asbestos, moving vents, adding an intake, new unit, new furnace, new everything.

We talked with Richard from A-Avis right after we got got a good quote from another company but wanted to see if we could get a better deal. And we're so glad we did! Richard was able to customize everything and really hear us out, since our home is unique and our priorities are probably a little different than others'. We're paying less overall and getting a little bit more! And I'm loving the Air Scrubber.

And one of the best parts was that we never felt like we were being sold to. It was a smooth transaction, we got what we want, and we don't have to worry about our AC going out when it's 100+

I am shock at the negative reviews seen here. By far, I never had the impression of this company being crooks, other than professional.  I have done my research and actually had two other contractors out here to give me an estimate for a complete HVAC to my older home and price difference for each contractor was roughly the same price range; however, I choose AVIS because they offered lifetime warranty on the products I chose, plus their quality of work looked better.  We are a young family and plan to live here many years and I know I will not have any additional expenses on repairs with my products!!!   I am glad that they are contractors with the new HERO program out here in SB County which I qualified for.  Great customers services over all, office staff, installers, and sales representatives.

5 years ago we bought a brand new HVAC system including additional insulation in the attic. Everything went great. The installation was perfect. 5 months later we had our first problem. Since then every time I turn on my AC on the first day of significant heat, the compressor will not go on. My home is filled with recycled hot air. I am so very tired of the brand new unit not work from the very beginning. My blood boils at the memory of the great salesmanship Ed demonstrated and the lack of quality in the product. I have never had these many problems with an AC unit.

If you are looking at Avis to replace your AC be very careful as Ed is a great salesman and talker.

Avis, this is not a sales opportunity, so do not reach out to me in any way shape or form.

We have left several reviews on this company, and here is another one. We have been members of their Gold Club for several years, and feel it is a good deal. Yesterday, we had our annual AC maintenance service done. The normal tech we have was not available, so we decided to let another tech come out. This time, it was Oscar. He was what we have come to expect from AVIS: Clean cut, nice, respectful, professional employees who get the job done. To be fair, we have had some issues with AVIS over the years, almost all connected with smaller administrative-related issues. The work itself, and the employees that we have encountered (including the owner Ed) are worthy of 10 Stars.
Yesterday, we had some follow-up work done on a few of our vent covers. The first time around, Oscar used some sealant and it did not come out looking like we wanted. We told Oscar it needed to be changed to match the way the other 15 or so vents looked. He took it in stride and acted very professional and really showed us that us being happy was his number one goal, and he would not be leaving until he fixed things to our satisfaction. True, it should not have looked the way it did for us to want it improved in the first place, but we are more impressed with his attitude in trying to make it right so we were happy. Can't ask for much more than that.
Oscar wore protective booties over his shoes any time he came back into our home. He put down a drop cloth on carpet when he went up into attic to do his thing.
At this point, we will continue using AVIS and we give a very favorable rating for Oscar and his services.

Service Champion had first come to my house to inspect and clear my kitchen drain in Victorville not too long ago.

Back then, I had already noted the professionalism and skill of the technician. When I got another property and needed an AC and Water heater inspection, I called the best I knew- Service Champion no less.

This morning, Sergio and Bryan came to the home today and installed the new electric water heater. Their competence is beyond compare and customer service is impeccable. I already knew that from previous work done at home.

Today , they came on time.  The install was thoroughly completed. Occasionally, I would be called into the work area and given updates on what was going on. That indicated to me how confident and competent they were in their task.

Service Champion are really champions.

My father received an advertisement for this company with special pricing on evaluation and maintenance of heating. When I called I spoke to Sammy  my main concern was to express past experience on flyers we receive constantly and later on they gouged us for more stuff. I explained to her that my questions are straight forward and not a form of intimadation but protection of my parents that are  elderly and dealing with my mother's dementia. She was so understanding and made sure she gave me the history of how the company works and how they strive for complete customer satisfaction.

After she finished with setting the account and appointment she mentioned about a product or service contract that would be more beneficial to us. She sold me on it and I look forward to them assisting me with their needs on heating and air. Thanks Sammy

Recently, I had a tankless water heater and a water purification system installed. Art, Sergio, and Carlos completed the installation. Although I wasn't present while they worked, my dad was in garage the entire time watching them work. My dad was extremely impressed with their promptness, professionalism, and patience. I bought an Amana HVAC system from them December 2021. I did not care for the Amana because the air conditioning unit and heating unit made excessive noise.  Every time I called, someone got back to me right away and would schedule an appointment promptly.  Everyone I dealt with was very pleasant, friendly, professional, honest, trustworthy, and dependable.  This includes the initial contact person, the installers, the repair technicians, and the service managers.  They did everything they could to resolve the problem including replacing my unit with a Lennox system.  I cannot speak more highly of this company and its employees!! They truly live up to their name, Service Champions. Thank you Jes, Rick, Jeff, and all the others.  You truly care about making your customers happy and satisfied. I highly recommend this company 100%.

My appointment was for 5-7 pm, (which is late to begin with), the tech showed up at 7:30. He knocked on my door (I was upstairs watching tv so of course I didn't hear his knocks), never rang my ring doorbell, didn't try calling me or texting me, and left. I just happened to look out my window, saw his van, went downstairs, went outside, and watched him drive away.

About an hour after I posted my review, I got a call from the operations manager, he was very apologetic, he listened to my concerns, and he told me he would have someone out at 8 am the next day. 8 am came, I had a tech at my door, after 30-60 minutes, his supervisor was here; they were at my house for 2.5 hours and didn't charge me for the call as a way of saying sorry for your inconvenience.

A few hours after they left, I got a follow up call from the ops manager wanting to make sure I was satisfied with the service.

I would highly recommend this company!

I have to edit my review of this company. I'm getting my ac and furnace system replaced today and apparently Avis did not set the system up correctly. They installed an air scrubber and all-house humidifier in our attic. We have 2 intake vents and they only connected 1 of those intake vents to the system so only half the air has been filtered all these many years we've had the system. Also, the connecting duct from the ac unit was much smaller than it should've been so we weren't utilizing the ac to its fullest, basically turning our 5 ton unit down to 2.5 or 3 ton unit. I'm really not sure if it was Avis or if that's how it was originally installed in the house but either way, whether they did a bad install or didn't catch the problem, they didn't do what I wouldn't expected them to do.

The reason I still gave them stars is that their people are really super nice and the customer service was great. We had the same tech for most of the time, but we stopped using their service when he was no longer available to come out to our house.

The AprilAire scrubber and humidifier are still amazing. we were told by our new ac tech with this company that's installing our new ac system that the air scrubber actually filters out COVID particles from the air. I would definitely still recommend the AprilAire brand 100%!!!

Just had a service call from Avis regarding my A/C unit that was installed last September... Michael (the technician) arrived earlier than expected (yahoo!!!) diagnosed the problem and spent a considerable amount of time making sure he had corrected the problem. Was really impressed with the level of service. I think any other company or technician would not have given it their all like this technician did...Especially when he found what was causing the ticking noise-but did not give up until he had found the entire piece of plastic/paper that was making the noise....not just the initial bit of paper flapping against the blower unit. I do think any other uncaring technician/company would of called it fixed after the 1st piece was located-then I would of had to make a repeat call for the same thing (and, have to pay a service call fee again!) Thanks for the excellent service....I will ask for him in the future!

I called Service Champions for AC repairs. They immediately dispatched Service Technician Leandro Alcantar.

He was professional, knowledgeable but most of all, caring.

He took his time and did everything possible to resolve our AC issue. At one point he was assisted by David M. Who was equally professional and knowledgeable.

I highly recommend Leandro. He went above and beyond.

A-Avis has been doing the maintenance of our air conditioning and heating systems for several years now and we are very satisfied with their services.

One of the AC units quit on us (it was about 12 years old) and we called A-Avis.  They sent a technician out the very next day and we decided to have them replace both AC units.  Our decision was based on the age of the units and the fact that the Freon for them will not be available by January 2020.

The following day, Jose and Mike H started the installation and completed the job that same day!!!  They were very courteous and respectful of our home.  They laid down cloths so they would not make a mess on our wood floor.  And yet, whenever they came into the house, they put on booties!!!  

Our cooling systems are now working very well, and we are very comfortable.  Thank you, Jose, Mike H and Michael K!!!

What a great company!  We had our entire AC system replaced earlier this year by Avis and it was an outstanding experience.  We originally contacted Ed Ballard the owner and he came out personally to meet us and take a look at our home.  Along with Ed was his lead designer/HVAC engineer Scott Heady.  Ed and Scott did a fantastic job evaluating our home and designing a custom system that would meet our needs.  Scott took the lead in evaluating and calculating a system for our home that wouldn't just be a slam and jam job, but actually something custom that would make sense and work efficiently.

The quote process was easy and Scott took time to answer all our questions without any pushy sales tactics.  We were very impressed at his flexibility and willingness to accommodate our schedules.  We signed the contract which was fairly priced and Scott worked with us to give us the best deal possible.  I believe we could have saved a few bucks if we wanted to shop around, but I don't believe we would have received the same level of service and a properly installed system.  You get what you pay for!

Avis started work right away and finished in 3 days.  This was a pretty big job since it involved the outdoor unit, indoor unit (which was relocated to the attic), and all new ducting.  The install crew worked clean and left everything spotless.  Throughout the process Scott made himself completely available and always went out of his way to address our needs.

Let me just say this - THESE GUYS NAILED IT!  It's heatwave status in socal right now and we are cool and comfortable!  We were so glad to work with such a great team of people.  We plan to have Avis come out and service our system annually to keep it running great.  Thanks again Avis!

I just want to say how pleased I was with first time using A-Avis!  I setup a project via Yelp specifically stating I needed my bathtub drain snaked and that no other drains were having any issues.  Not only was A-Avis the FIRST to respond, but they were the ONLY plumber that responded without saying, we need to come to your house to give you an estimate on snaking your drain, which is absolute BS.  They came at me with sensible price and really it was a no brainer.  

Now for the visit...

Carlos was awesome!  Polite, humble, explained everything he was going to do thoroughly, completely cleaned up after, and just sealed the deal with me coming back to A-Avis if I ever need help again.

Nick and Chhun were awesome they deserve a bonus for all the hard work. These guys explained and showed me all the details to the work and explained any questions I had. The work these guys did was impeccable could not even tell the amount of work that was done as they left everything looking great. I upgraded my system from a small old trash can size a/c to the Lincoln/Cadillac of units. These guys made everything look original to the house. The new unit is so quiet  I could not even tell it was on. In Chhun's words I got you meaning trust me everything will look great which it does. These 2 guys made me feel that my choice was right to choose this company.  They were so good made me think I could do it since they made it look so easy. I give Nick and Chhun 10 stars

My AC quit working and I was at a complete loss for who to call. I ended up calling Avis and I'm so happy that I did! The rep that I talked to on the office was very nice and helpful! She was able to set me up with a service appointment the next day. The technician showed up within the time window, was very nice and professional. I am always paranoid about getting ripped off so I hung around while he checked out my AC unit and he seemed more than happy to explain exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it. He found the problem within half an hour, explained it to me and told me exactly how much it would cost up front (and the price was something I felt was very reasonable). The actual repair was done in about 15 minutes. He never once tried to upsell me on anything, rather the opposite. He was very clear on what services could be done to the AC unit but also on the fact that it wasn't really needed. I will definitely be calling this outfit to service my heater before winter and with any other hvac repairs I need done!

The ad they have in the Yellow Pages says 24 hour emergency service but when I called them on a Sunday to fix the clogged condensation line on my 91 year old Mom's A/C on a day it was to be over 100 degrees I was told that they weren't open on weekends.  They did say that they could get a technician out the next day (in the afternoon).  I didn't really think that my Mom could survive that long at over 100 degrees so I called a company that was actually open 24/7 like they advertised!  UPDATE:  I am now getting emails from them through Yelp wanting me to call them to resolve the issue that prompted my review.  Since there's no way for them to go back in time and actually come out on a weekend like their advertisement states, they must be pestering me in an effort to get me to change my review.

Terrible service today. READ BEFORE CONTACTING THEM FOR SERVICE.

I've been a customer of Avis since 2007! I've never been so disappointed with their service more than I have been yesterday. When I called they told me they wouldn't do commercial business, but I have maintenance every year with them so they said okay and they told me they'd charge me $85. When he got here, he charged me $85 and then he was told by his boss he wasn't allowed to do the maintenance! Why did he charge me?? My air conditioning unit for my business (nail salon) was broken and I called them to come out and fix it as well as for a maintenance check, and they told me the fee would be $85, which I agreed to. However, I fixed the air conditioning myself and when they deployed a specialist he came and I explained to him that I fixed it and asked him if I could do the maintenance. He called his boss, which was fine for me, and his boss said he couldn't do maintenance! I even pointed at the super dirty and dusty air filter and asked him if he could talk to his boss. Then he even went out to smoke in his van for an hour, which I have a picture of. This is not the technician's fault, but I don't understand why his boss would not allow a maintenance check but instead let his employee smoke in his van for an hour. Worst service, and on top of it all they still charged me $85 for doing nothing! The customers I had in the shop at the time even said that they wouldn't have paid and they were angry and that I shouldn't have paid! I will never use their service again, I wish I could give them 0 stars. Falsely charging me and having their tech smoke rather than change an air filter and do my scheduled maintenance.

A cape you ask? . . . YES SEAN should be some sort of super hero of the Central Air and Heating World. This guy knows everything and explains its so dummies like my husband and I are confident we are in the BEST hands. It was obvious he was the most experienced tech we had ever met. He did the best service on our Central Air ever, and what a great guy. The only problem is my husband talks too much and I thought I might have to hit him with a shovel or Sean would never get away . . . just kidding. THANKS AVIS. Thanks Avis for Sean!

Very happy with the costumer service. The tech, salesman, and install guys were super nice, very informative, and very professional. The install guys went above and beyond. The service was quick and now I'm enjoying a cool house.

Sergio is the epitome of a Service Champion.  My bathroom faucet was barely dribbling hot water.  He tried everything he possibly could.  He explained what he was doing and why he was doing it.  As it turns out, I needed a new faucet. But, Sergio made me feel respected and now I understand a little bit more about faucets than I did before. I definitely will request for him to return and do the installation.  He even cleaned the aerator on my kitchen sink.  So now it's flowing full strength.  Sergio has such a caring attitude that he is not only a great plumber, he is a great man!

They fixed it!!!  Yes, my family and I are finally comfortable; My 32 yr old air conditioner died.  I called A-Avis in the afternoon; tech was scheduled for next day; I was given a reminder call before Max/tech arrived; Max arrived as agreed; he was clean, professional, an expert in knowledge with my broken device; he ID the problem within minutes; repaired my device timely.

I have been a customer with Avis since Dec. 2019.  I am very happy with all services/repairs/replacements that have been done in my home.  This is a family business.  Ed/owner and all personal that I have encountered have been kind, caring, and extremely efficient.  I would recommend anyone to join A-Avis family for all Heating, AC, and Plumming needs.

About 2 months ago Avis installed all new duct work and insulation, plus a larger air return (we have a roof mounted all in one unit) it was under sized, and all new air flow registers. They made the bathroom ones and others larger. They also installed an attic exhaust fan with a thermostat. They did great work. Jeremy and James did the labor. Some of my neighbors recently had their A/C units running on some warm days. We didn't have to. The house was cooler than normal. We just ran our ceiling fans. It all started with Colby Ballard. He came out to give us our estimate. This is a genuinely nice young man. He really knows his stuff. Especially duct work. There are different levels and quality of ducting and insulation, which of course has different prices and warranty levels. He gave us all of the information and facts and did not push us in any direction. He did not try to upsell us into anything we didn't want. Colby came out for a final inspection and everything was good. He came out again yesterday to make sure everything is ok and that we were satisfied. He stayed a while and we just talked about all kinds of stuff. He gave me some other ideas about some do it yourself stuff that I can do. I would give another star up there if I could. I would definitely recommend Avis for heating, a/c, duct work and attic exhaust fans. Ask for Colby Ballard. You can't go wrong.
