Rob's Electrical Services is your go to source for making your vision a reality. Building relationships with our clients, suppliers and contractors with quality craftsmanship, reliable service and affordable prices is our main goal. Safety and customer service is our number one priority. We believe in hard work, honesty and helping our clients design their vision with easy to understand terms. We specialize in modern lighting installations, light art, LED cove lighting, and commercial lighting concepts. We build electrical systems for commercial construction such as a tenant improvements and sub contract with general contractors. We also provide the same installations for residential homes, condominiums, and apartments. Commercial and residential service and repair is a large part of our day to day work. We install landscape lighting, security lighting, light poles, and temporary power for new construction sites, trade show booths/shows and provide onsite maintenance as rerouting power boxes and light strings are necessary often on a construction site. We will provide an electrician dedicated to maintaining the temporary power needs for your project each day if you need.

My name is Robert Dickens and I have experience in the electrical industry since 1992. I graduated the ABC apprenticeship program in 1997 and have worked as both a journeyman and foreman since 1997. I have a C-10 license and carry general liability insurance. I love what I do. Rob's Electrical Services is dedicated and proven to provide your electrical needs. We are available Monday-Friday 7am-5pm and Saturday 10am-3pm for emergencies, scheduled maintenance and repairs. Please let us know how your experience is. to upgrade electrical service for the install of a new electric range which was replacing a gas stove. Called Rob for a quote and within a day he came over, looked at the project and gave me a fair and reasonable estimate. I needed to have the work done ASAP as appliances were scheduled for delivery. He sent a tech over the next morning and the work was done by noon. He and CJ were professional, courteous and respectful of the home. He installed an exterior porch light and upgraded 2 fuses at no additional charge.
I also interviewed 2 other electricians whose quotes were more money.
I highly recommend him. In fact, I told my salesperson at Aztec Appliances to refer him
to customers needing an electrician.

My boyfriend found this business from a $25 off coupon. He called about a few outlets that weren't working and a lady told him over the phone that the minimum service fee is $200.

2 guys came and found the breaker switch appeared off but was not fully switched off, and nothing needed replacing. The work done was equivalent to a free estimate. The technician mentioned an hourly rate of less than $200 per hour, but did not know what to charge me. The technician contacted his supervisor and came back with a quote of $300. I told him the lady said $200 on the phone and he made a call to try to lower the price because even he admitted it was pricy for such a short time. He said he could only get it down to $250 and that I could call the owner to sort out the payment.

The lady who told my boyfriend $200 calls me to collect the $250. First she denies that she ever said $200 and that it was always a $300 minimum. Then when I mention the $25 off coupon for the first time, she says they don't do coupons! When I tell her I'm staring right at it, she asks where I found it. I tell her it's in this month's local newsletter. She has a side conversation and then says the $250 was including the coupon...she didn't even know it existed until I told her!

I ended up paying $250 to end the senseless conversation and get them off my back. I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Hard to find a company that cares less about its customers. The fact that they couldn't even hold true to a $25 coupon says it all.

Rob came over for initial estimate.
Don't expect to see him before, during, or after the work
He sub-contracted the work and after the sub-contractor arrived, there was some confusion about the work.
I then received a rant from Rob over the phone about the confusion being on my part,, which I eventually ironed out with the sub-contractor.
Rob blamed me for the  20% over estimate charge.
My advice to anyone is to go to Angi or HomeAdvisor and deal directly with who will be doing the actual work.

Rob is the very definition of unreliable. Tried to have him come out two times over the course of two weeks for a simple breaker swap out that his employees handled no problem last year.

He missed both appointments and was completely unresponsive when we tried to contact us other than sending cryptic alt right emojis.

Concerned about the quality of his work and warranty. Look elsewhere if you want anything done.

Rob did an absolute bang up job at our place. The job was installing a subpanel, wiring a jacuzzi, and sauna as well as installing outlets and landscape lighting. The job was done correct, efficiently and without cutting any corners. On top of all this, Rob and his crew are the nicest dudes out there and made me feel like I was included every step of the way. The price was very reasonable and the work was very professional. I know for a fact that he will be my go-to in the future for any electrical work at the house. Thanks Rob!

Wow! It's amazing how Rob is still in business at all. First time ever encountering such an unprofessional person. Rob was condescending the entire time we spoke, he kept cutting me off, muted me and then told me he was about to have food so he will call me back. I was explaining to him that I needed a ceiling fan installation and when he asked what was wrong with it, I said hold on let me pass the phone to the person who is trying 5o install it. He said something about not trying and doing and that if I already had something here to do it that was why I asking for help and hung up on me....I called back and he sent me a text saying that he was spending time with his family. What in the world? Why would you pick up if it's your personal time? And why would you say rude comments to your potential client. It doesn't surprise me that he may have a lawsuit considering the fact that he speaks with customers on the phone in this manner. I would leave zero stars if possible and I can agree with 85% of the reviews and advise you to FIND SOMEONE ELSE. This man is burnt and clearly does not enjoy his job as an electrician. He had lost his passion therefore all his work will be shoddy and with little to no effort. Maybe he should considering retiring and doing something he actually enjoys.

Rob and his team recently  installed six new ceiling nights for me and replace two existing lights  to match the new lights. My overall experiences are great. When I  requested quotes from several electricians, Rob was very quick to come  on-site to give an free estimate (others may charge you a fee for that),  and his quote is quite reasonable. On the scheduled workday, Rob sent  text messages to keep me updated when his staff will arrive. Chris and  Wade arrived on time, and they took good care of the work site and used  plastic to cover the floor and furniture. When the work is done, they  cleaned up the site. In a later day, Rob is very responsive to my  request to change the trim and color of the lights.

I am very happy with Rob's service. By the way, it is fun to interact with Rob.

Rob installed an outdoor fixture for me this morning. How nice to find someone who is reliable, knowledgeable & so nice. Even though it was a fairly quick & easy job for him, he was very professional & made me feel most comfortable with my choice of electricians. He will be my go to electrician in the future, for sure.

I placed an emergency call to Rob's Electrical Services on Halloween night re: a non SDG&E related power outage at my home. Rob took the call and I found him to be pleasant and concerning about my issue. He told me that he would be at my home in 30 minutes and he was true to his word. He diagnosed and isolated the problem to my electrical panel. The issue was resolved and repaired in about an hour. The following day Rob dropped by my home to check and see that everything was working ok. I was pleasantly surprised as I did not ask for this follow up visit. I found Rob to have a pleasant demeanor and very helpful in explaining the problem I had. He was professional, experienced and extremely prompt in his services. I would not hesitate to request Rob's Electrical Services for any future needs.

I only gave one star because that's the lowest possible but really he doesn't even deserve it.  Aside from how my job was done etc,  I called to explain that something needed to be adjusted and he cut me off and said to hurry and explain because he was busy. I'm the middle of it he told me that he's a general contractor and he knows it was done right. Since he hadn't even done the work himself how would he know without seeing it?? He didn't even let me tell him about it!! At that point the conversation was done since he kept cutting me off mid sentence. He asked who had given me his name and I told him now it doesn't matter because he has a horrible attitude and I
Wont refer anyone to him. So now I'm forced to pay someone to fix their mistake. This guy was the rudest, most obnoxious business owner I've ever come across. There's no way I would ever deal with he or his company again!!

I installed a ceiling fan for my bathroom and needed it wired into the wall for a switch. I used Angies List to find them and they responded in less than 3 minutes. Rob had a guy at my house the next day to wire it in. I'm assuming the price was fair but I can't validate that claim. He also said he had to charge me a bit extra because I found him on Angies List to cover those costs so just call him direct next time to save some $. He also came out for an estimate for a backyard project and gave me a good quote. I'd totally use them again for any electrical needs.

I recently had Rob's Electrical Service come to my home because a handyman tried changing a outlet under my sink for my garbage disposal & as a result my refrigerator, dishwasher & garbage disposal stopped working.  I was so stressed out because things were going to start defrosting in my freezer.
I spoke to the owner Rob who was very pleasant & he sent his employee TJ to check it out. TJ fixed the problem immediately & said the handyman had put the outlet in wrong & that's why nothing would work.
I was so relieved & learned a very good lesson & that is to leave electrical
to those who are qualified. Thank you for outstanding service which is very rare today,

I was extremely happy with Rob's service. He's a true professional and amongst having some very difficult tasks he was very knowledgeable and able to take care of those in a timely manner. He and his crew are always on time and I was extremely happy that he was cognizant of the current conditions and had my family's safety in mind and that they wore every precaution for this pandemic. I would recommend him for any job you may have small or large.

OK, you asked for a review so here it is Rob!

I am tired of someone who keeps bugging me for a review.  I prefer writing only good reviews  when I see a company or person who  deserves one.  I will not even bother getting into the details as to why I rated this place 2 stars.  All I can say is I will not be using them again.  I used them twice.  First time was ok.  Second time, Rob was very pushy to get me to hire him.  He called me 3 times the morning of when they came out. I was not even fully awake and in a bad mood because I felt his sales pressure pitch.  I just wanted to get this over with.  I was not going to use him because I wanted both a microwave and a ceiling fan replaced.

I told him I only want to hire one person to do both and I simply called him to see if he knew of someone that installed microwaves and that is when he mentioned they could do both for me, but installing a microwave was not something they normally do.

Well, two months after they installed the ceiling fan, it stopped spinning.  So I called him to just ask him a question what could be reasons.  He was not very helpful at this point.  I was not even blaming his work.  I was damned if I was going to hire him again.  I instead found me a Very Good Handyman in my area who did not talk to me as if I was dumb.  I do not like being mislead and pressured in hiring and that is what I felt.

I have used Rob for multiple rental unit renovations. change out outlets.. install ceiling fans.. Add Outlets.. Always a great job! His plaster repair guy is amazing too! Reasonable pricing but most of all professional & reliable.

Met with Rob at a jobsite , which was two separate houses, with different addresses, on one lot. I asked for a separate quote  to upgrade the service, and add three circuits  to the back house, and upgrade the service, and check the circuits at the front house because of a fire, caused by a cigarette.  We agreed to have all work done with a permit, which was included in the estimates. After he wrote up the estimates, I got approvals, and separate checks from the property owner, and met with Rob again at the job and gave him the go ahead. That is when he saw his mistake about writing down the wrong address, WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS AT THE BUILDING DEPT.   After more than two weeks of nothing, I called him. Now he wants to do the back house WITHOUT permits for the same amount, and telling me the front house is a pain and some line about waiting for SDG&E for eight weeks!!!
i have been a Licensed General Contractor since 1979, and this company is the most UNPROFESSIONAL i have ever dealt with.  STAY AWAY!!

My husband and I called Rob for an estimate on the work we wanted done and Rob contacted us and came out to give us a free quote the next day.  His pricing was very reasonable and he was able to schedule it to get taken care of the next week.  The work was completed within the day and they did an amazing job!

Rob's Electrical Services saved the day for our home. We had an emergency situation and power went out in two rooms. With the electrician's top notch experience he was able to trouble shoot the issue and fix it. It was a unique issue and your average electrician probably would have given up. He insisted on figuring it out and because of his ability to figure it out he saved our home from a potential risky fire hazard. I can't say enough about how satisfied we are with this company. I will recommend them to any of my friends and family who need an electrician. Thank you!

We can't say enough good things about Rob's Electrical Services! He's the only electrician we trust with our projects big and small. He's always timely, courteous, professional, extremely knowledgeable, and reliable.

I have a general knowledge of electrical so I can manage small projects like changing outlets and switches, etc., but when I had a seemingly small issue that turned out to be more complicated, I called Rob. He immediately answered, listened carefully, and helped troubleshoot and guide me through the process over the phone. As it turns out, the problem was in a different part of the house, and if it wasn't for Rob's responsiveness, vast knowledge, and commitment to customer service, this issue could have been a much bigger problem requiring a lot more time and money. His guidance on the phone helped us avoid a possibly dangerous situation with our electrical outlet on the outside of the house- what started as a problem with an indoor outlet turned out to be CAUSED by a faulty outdoor outlet. See attached picture. I never would have thought to look elsewhere for this solution without Rob's expert and patient guidance.

This is the fifth time we have used Rob's Electrical Services, and every single interaction has been excellent. He's always on time, ready to work, helpful, friendly, reliable, and he does the job right the first time. His prices are reasonable, but for us, you can't put a price on excellent service and peace of mind!  

We trust Rob with all of our electrical work, and will continue to be 100% loyal and satisfied customers!

I went on Home Advisors to put in a request to rewire my entire house, add new outlets, and put recess/can lights in 2 bedrooms and a living room.  Rob, the owner, contacted me immediately to set up an appointment.  Since, I had to work during the weekday, I usually only can be at the house on the weekend.  Rob explained he does not have weekend appointments, because he wants to spend time with his family.  Understandable.  Therefore, I arranged my work schedule and had him come out at 9am on a Wednesday.

Rob calls me at 7:30am on the day of our appointment and said he was in my area and wanted to come now.  I informed him there was someone in the house right now, I have a tenant living at the house, so that would not be possible.  I have already made arrangement with my tenant to be out of the house by 9am.  Rob then said, So I have to figure out something to do for the next hour and a half?

At the appointed time, I was at the house and showed him what I wanted done.  I told him what my budget was and when I needed the work done. He did not bring any tools to measure the room or check the outlets.  He just had a notepad to take notes on what I wanted done. After walking through the house he sent me a proposal with the price which met my budget and my timeline.  Therefore, I decided to hire him.  I had other electricians come out and they were booked solid and could not meet my timeline.  Rob came out on Wednesday and said he can start the job on Friday.  I  hired him because he was ready to go and I also checked his reviews on the referral website and there were many positive reviews (now I question whether they avoid posting negative reviews) and he had a good rating with the BBB.

Things start going downhill when he came out after I accepted his bid.  We were trying to figured out where the new recessed lights should be place in the living room.  He was very short with me and kept saying, I don't want to do this twice.  When I questioned some of the light placement, he started getting annoyed and again said, I do not want to do this twice,  I wanted to avoid having shadows on the perimeter of the room and asked his advice on best placement to avoid shadows.  He started getting annoyed and rude with his responses.  

I felt like I was asking him to do me a favor by talking through the light replacement.  I was hoping to rely on his advisement, since this is what he does, to help me get the right lighting placement.  My living room and dining room are combed.  So I suggested a separate switch for the dinning room, so if I am not using the dining room, I can leave the lights off.  He said that would $100 more to add a new switch.  When I questioned that charge, he said, This is not a charity.

After a few more rude comments, I just had enough and I decided not to hire him.  I asked him to leave.  He started saying how he has already scheduled his crew and tried to change my mind.  I felt, if you are this rude to me before you start my project, I can only imagine how you would treat me if there are any problems that might come up along the way or after the job is done.

After he left, he emailed me to apologize and said he can be nice.  His assistant/office manager also called and offered her apology.  She offered to take off $100 from the bid, if I go forward with the job.  I told her, No, thank you. I didn't give them one star, because he and his assistant/office manager did apologized.  However, I work hard for my money and I want someone who will appreciate the business.  Rob acted like he was doing me a favor by taking the job.  So I went with another electrician.

I needed a Quiet Cool fan installed. Rob came out, gave me a reasonable quote, and had the fan installed within a week. I highly recommend Rob to everyone. The guys who did the installation were great too! I will definitely be using Rob's Electrical for any future needs.

I called Rob's Electrical the day before Christmas.  They answered the phone and said they could come out on the 26th.  Perfect.  I needed two electrical out lets moved in a bathroom.  They electrician was on time (5 minutes early) did a great job lining up these new locations.  The cost was very reasonable and the electrician (TJ) was very polite and knowledgeable.  I will definitely call Rob's Electrical again for electrical needs.

We are new to San Diego and I contacted Rob's Electrical Services to come out and upgrade a circuit breaker from 20 to 30 amps in our electrical panel. Rob was able to fit us in the same day, assess the work needed and actually complete the job quickly and professionally for the $190 price quoted. That's what I call great service! Thanks Rob!

I called and spoke with Rob on August 1st, 2017 to schedule an appointment for some misc electrical work I needed done around my house.   He said he would send someone out the next day and that I would receive a call to let me know they were on there way.  I received no phone call and no one showed up.

We purchased a new home in the Fleetridge area this year.  The house needed quite a bit of electrical improvements and updates.  We called Rob's Electric and two other companies.  Rob's team responded immediately, provided a detailed in person quote and got started as agreed. When Rob says they will be there...expect just that and not a minute later.  The team was sitting in the driveway ready to work right when they said they said they would be. The other Point Loma electricians required me to call them 2-3 times and then took 3 days to make it out.  Their quote was 1.5 times more than Rob's Electric Service. While Rob isn't the cheapest, it was the focus, energy, attention to detail and real time solutioning that it did for me.

They are all Rock Stars.  Every one of them had 10 years to 30 years of experience.  Clean, Careful, and Respectful.  I actually enjoyed them at the house.  They will work non stop until the job is done.

We had just had new hardwoods installed and every day they took off their work boots, slipped on the slippers and got to work.  This was not entirely conducive to the work they had to do but the dealt with it.  

They worked on our house for about 2 weeks and did a great job.  We have since had them back for additional work.

We used Rob's Electrical Service to replace an old living room chandelier with a new one, plus run new wiring.  Rob and his crew were very professional and courteous and did an outstanding job relaying to me how the work would be completed and how long it would take. The results were great. The install and clean-up was complete and thorough. We have plans to use 'RES' again for future projects and have recommended him to our friends.

I contacted Rob's on a Friday.  The following Monday I met with Rob to discuss the job: installing 6 can lights in a pre-existing ceiling.  The very next day the job was done!  How good can it get!!!  Don and Aaron were the electricians and I cannot praise them highly enough.  They were personable and professional.  They had to move LOTS of furniture, which they did with great care.  Once done, they cleaned up everything.  Thanks to Rob's, what could have been a nightmare, was a wonderful experience and Rob, the owner, is a joy to work with... bless him.

Rob's Electrical Services has been my go to for 4 different projects in my home in the past two years and they will continue to be my electrician going forward! The lighting jobs, the ceiling fan installation & the refrigerator electrical wiring repair performed by Rob & his crew have been done well, quickly & fairly priced. I also have to commend Rob on his excellent communication regarding calling me re: anticipated ETA as the jobs got closer in so I didn't have to wait around for a long window of time. It shows respect for me & my time.  When assessing the projects, Rob gave easy to understand explanations of what the jobs would entail, provided options of how to do the jobs depending on how much money I wanted to spend and his recommendations. On the job, Rob & his guys are professional & personable. The icing on the cake has been his phone followup after the jobs were done to make sure we were happy. I highly recommend this company!

for our house remodel, we hired Robert to do a complete rewire and service panel upgrade.  we found Rob's electrical services through Homewyse.com and after interviewing several electrical contractors, decided to hire Robert.  His prices are great and he delivered as promised on time and within budget.  We got to work with his crew which included Don (Foreman) and Aaron.  they were all super knowledgeable and easy to work with.  Throughout the process, Robert always communicated very well with us and showed up when he said they would.  The team was always prompt and polite.  Our scope of work included whole house rewiring, new outlets, new switches, LED can lights, AC, fire sprinkler and bell wiring, and service panel relocation.  Robert helped to coordinate with SDGE to comply with required building codes.  Robert provided very good input, but was also willing to work with us when we wanted specific brands of LED lights and dimmer switches.  Robert has a type A personality and made sure things were done the right way.  Robert and team were great and I will definitely call Robert back for any future work.

This was a typical fan install job anyone could have done, since I'm flipping the house I saved myself some time to have it sub'd out. Drywall guy showed up to patch the hole, told him twice it was not even close to matching the texture after he finished. My three year old son could have sprayed texture on the ceiling better. Called Rob and he said no worries and he'd personally take care of it! He showed up apparently in a bad mood on Monday, three days later from the fan install on the previous Friday ,  I showed him the spot and he asked me what should we should do? Duh! YOU FIX IT !! He stomped off like a my three year old and was now acting like it was an inconvenience to even be here. He proceeded to engaged in more antagonistic hostile conversation insulting my house (in the middle of it being painted and tile being put on the wall)  and said we'll just see how that looks when your done! Several other rude comments later I told him to leave as he never even stated to do the repair. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL ! ! Give someone else your hard earned money without getting a hard time about it !!

I called Rob one day and he was out the very next morning.  My tenant said he was fast and a great guy.  His pricing is very fair and his customer service is exceptional.  We will be using him again for sure!  Thanks for great work.
