HISTORY
Established in 1982.
I've been in business since 1982. Prior to getting my license, I was a troubleshooter; the guy who finds out why things aren't working. The first major job I did as a contractor was Sonny Bono's first restaurant. I worked for years with high end decorators and architects on celebrity and VIP homes. We still do this kind of work occasionally, but have settled into a niche of bringing older homes (with typically old and unsafe wiring) up to Code. (Many 1929-era homes in the general LA area sorely need to be made safe!) I find this work the most rewarding since we are making folks' homes safe for their families. I also enjoy the aesthetic side of art lighting and landscape lighting where we are essentially painting with light. I take pride in and continue to improve our professionalism and good works. We also are qualified and do some commercial electrical, but specialize in the above residential type work.
ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
Though born in Northern California, as my father was in the Air Force I literally grew up all over the world. I graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in Great Falls, Montana. Professionally I started doing electrical work in 1974 and haven't looked back.
We have fallen into a niche of rehabilitating older homes, bringing them up to Code so they are SAFE. This kind of work requires very high standards and attention to detail. We excel at this. Ensuring a home is safe is our primary mission.
Lighting is an art form. I thoroughly enjoy helping homeowners bring out the best in their properties and I work with them by showing them lighting options. For example, when doing landscape lighting I bring different lights to the property and show homeowners the effects that can be created by highlighting what they love.
I've done gallery lighting and, again, enjoy bringing out the best in a piece of art.
We cut in cans with little or no damage to ceilings.

Power went off in my detached garage. I picked Rick because he was close to me. Called and left a message around dinner time and was surprised he called back within 10 minutes. We arranged a meet up as soon as the following day and he worked me in between two other jobs he already had. Showed up as promised. He was a huggable teddy bear and I sensed a very good aura. It was a very quick fix with the breaker (yup happens more often than not!) but I was so appreciative of him coming and will be adding him as my electrician to my phone address book.

I sincerely appreciated Rick's honesty and expertise even as we only chatted through the initial phone conversation. Recently during heavy rain, an exposed outdoor 120v outlet shorted and almost burned down the house. I called a number of people. Rick's stood out from the rest. Responsive, friendly, easy, with decades of experience. Rick came as soon as it stopped raining the next day. Took care of the issue and took a look at another two outdoor outlets, found another one melted. He replaced those as well. Super nice guy, easy, deep experience, and reasonably priced - what more can you ask for? Thanks Rick!
Great customer service and very professional. Rich and his team of two men provided great solutions to a garage wiring situation that was a mess. He also replaced two exterior light fixtures on the garage and connected them to a timer. No more unreliable dusk-to-dawn lamps. Rick did 2 projects for us over the past year - electrical for a new shed/gym in the back yard and out EV charging station.
Rick and his team came up quickly to connect our new shed with electricity and lighting (recessed lighting inside and sconces outside). They helped add a remote control switch inside our house so we can control the sconces without having to go to the yard. Quick and professional.
Months later, we needed to install an EV charger in the garage. Rick came out and installed in less than2 hours and signed all the paperwork for our GWP rebate application. Again, quick and professional.
Will definitely call back I'm for our next projects!

Rick is great! He answered right away when I called. He is very reasonably priced and quickly and efficiently fixed the light in my kitchen. Highly recommend calling him.
Rick is kind, the work is clean and fast. Efficient and friendly service, and not only that, treated both my wife and I with respect, and gave a speedy and accurate quote. We had him install a 14-50 outlet for our EV in the garage, and he really knows what he's doing, and does it with pride. I'm saving Rick's number for future electrical needs.
Rick did a fantastic job at our place in Silverlake. He installed 2 lighting fixtures, a ring security light/camera, and swapped out a bunch of our old track lighting for better bulbs. He even refocused all of the track lights. Ill absolutely call him again in the future. Highly recommended.
I contacted Rick because Yelp shows his location to be nearby my home.
Rick answered the phone himself. I explained that I needed three things: install a GFC outlet in a bathroom, install an outlet on the exterior of my house, and correct a wiring problem in my garage that was causing electric shocks when I touched metal in my garage while in stocking feet or had my hand on the floor.
Rick made an appointment to come over the following Friday afternoon to look at the job site. He arrived on time, I showed him around my property, he took notes, and said he could return Monday to do the work.
On Monday he arrived in the morning, quickly and neatly installed the two outlets, and started trouble shooting the wiring in the garage. Rick discovered that the electrician my general contractor hired two years ago did something unexplainably dangerous when installing an outlet on the wall outside my garage. Rick corrected the wiring so there is no longer a shock hazard. I should mention that my wife was working from home on her computer and Rick didn't have to cut power or interrupt her work.
We didn't discuss price before I hired Rick, but I was pleasantly very surprised by the reasonableness of his invoice.
Suffice it to say Rick Jackson will be my first and only call the next time I need an electrician.
Rick was prompt, kind, and efficient when our kitchen lights and outlets were compromised. He thoroughly explained the situation, readily answered all of my questions, fixed the issue quickly, and his rates were reasonable. (He was also very sweet to our pets, which I appreciate.)
We'll definitely call Rick for future electrical projects!

Rick was a great help with the troubleshooting of my LED strip light installation. I will certainly work with him again.
I'm old enough to remember when electrician's and plumbers and auto mechanics and HVAC guys (etc) were community stallworths who had decades long relationships with homeowners. People you could call with an emergency and they not only were available to help, but they remembered your first name when they arrived. That's the kind of professional Rick is. Super skilled. Knows his craft. Able to help when you need it. Trustworthy! Guys like this are a dying breed. If you meet him, take a card, keep it filed. And assume you've found your family electrician for the next couple of decades.
Rick was great and I would recommend him to anyone. Rick came out today to look into our malfunctioning outlets. The issue was complicated, and Rick brought professionalism and a higher level of troubleshooting to think about how the wiring was setup. Thanks for investigating the problem and really taking the time to check various outlets.

I lost power in only certain areas of my house and in particular the outlets. I called another electrician that never returned my call. When I called Rick, he answered and said he could come by in a few hours. He called me only 2 hours later and told me he could come by in about 20 minutes, which he did.
He assessed the situation which required detective work to determine the cause, which he finally did, two hours later. He was persistent to figure out the issue and I was glad he was!! He was VERY nice and the cost was very reasonable as well which I really appreciated given the current circumstances with COVID. If I need electrical work again, I will certainly be calling Rick and HIGHLY recommend him!

We've worked with Rick for several years, first in one home, and then the next. He switched over all of the recessed lights to LED fixtures and helped guide us through converting everything to a smart home. He replaced all our switches with smart switches, and he's installed every light fixture we've ever gotten. He's also just incredibly kind and helpful. For example: one day, while he was over to install a light, my closet door came off its hinges in the other room, and even though it was not at ALL his responsibility, he helped me fix it. A true gentleman. Highly recommended!
Rick came as scheduled, figured out the challenging job of running an electrocal line from a tankless water heater, at a very reasonable price. He went over and above, checking the bathroom vent/fan/heater. I highly recommend him.

I've tried several electricians -- two from personal referrals -- to get someone to come out and diagnose why my Ring doorbell kept disconnecting and finally just stopped working altogether. Getting someone to follow through and call back as promised was getting so frustrating, so I turned to yelp and saw the great reviews Rick had received and I reached out.
Could not be happier. The problem is fixed, and it was done quickly for fair price. Definitely will call Rick again if other electric issues surface.

When I got my Tesla I was looking to install a home charging station. Little did I know the numerous headaches that would come along with this endeavor. However, Rick to the rescue! Rick helped guide me through the process of what equipment to get, what to look for, and he was there to answer every single question I had. Another electrician installed my Tesla charger incorrectly. I called Rick and he came quickly and fixed the problem at a very reasonable rate. I had a busy work schedule and wasn't even able to meet him. He took care of everything on his own and did a great job.
We are so thankful to have found Rick. He did our electrical inspection, and all of the electrical updates to our house. It wasn't just that the work he did was thorough, professional and quick-- it's that he patiently explained everything to us and helped us make decisions. Our very old and complicated little house has not had a problem since! The electrical is all up to date and child proof.
Then, this Sunday morning at 9am, we had a partial power outage. I called Rick and he walked me through how to test the the issue and diagnosed the problem over the phone. Our power will be restored by LADWP today at no charge, and all because he was kind and patient enough to go over it all with me. He's responsive, he does great work, and he goes the extra mile. We highly recommend him!

We love this guy!! He rewired our house 7 years ago, and did a great job, but then last weekend, suddenly lights started flickering and outlets thumping.... we freaked out and called Rick. He called us back on a Sunday(!) and came out and helped us on his birthday(!) Turned out it was the power coming into the house. He even sat and called DWP for us so he could explain to them what was wrong. Kept checking back in with us to be sure DWP fixed it and that there were no residual issues in the house. Great electrician and caring human being. Thanks again Rick, and be well!

Held me up for nearly two months waiting for a quote. Nice guy, but had to send him PWP info twice and persistently nag about the quote after his site visit. Each time getting a reply like I'll have a quote to you tomorrow... Gave him one last chance to come through and received a terse email with some garble about something unrelated to our project and a mysteriously large figure. I would've appreciated a simple: Sorry, too busy right now... or something to that effect, but he kept dragging us along and holding us up. Probably a fluke experience judging from other glowing reviews, but wanted to share.

I was so impressed with how quickly Rick and his team worked and how he took the time to walk me through what needed to be done. From the moment he came to give a quote, I knew I was in good hands. Unlike the three other electricians who I got a quote from, Rick actually took a look at the wiring behind my outlets and spent lots of time with me explaining how everything worked and why work needed to be done a certain way.
He was friendly, professional, easy to talk to, and had a great crew. He also suggested I get his work double checked by the county so that we knew everything was up-to-code and could prove it when we moved out. We just had the inspection and passed with flying colors.

Rick was great. We had some breakers suddenly pop in the middle of the night. He was very responsive, stopped by first thing the next morning, and helped us diagnose and fix the (luckily small) problem quickly. We'll certainly call him for help with any small or large electrical problems in the future.
Rick never did 'the work'... instead he talked to me (a new customer) about how I could handle it that wouldn't involve him or any bill. He was a pleasure to talk to, friendly and interested in my problem and I know he would have been there in a minute if I needed him. Hope I don't need him, but if I do - keeping his number handy.
If I can only give Rick 10 stars I would. I was searching through Yelp last night for an electrician and he was one of them who responded immediately. He is usually off on Sundays but he emailed me a message that I find reasonable. He said, that he's booked all week and out of town after that. If he can fix this in a short amount of time I.e either a Gfi replacement or breaker replace then he will charge a minimal amount. If it's more complicated requiring lots of time he'll leave and no charge. True to his word, he charge me with the amount he said with no surprises, no visit or estimate fee. Rick diagnosed the problem meticulously, avoided a possible fire issue and did the job effectively. He is also funny, very friendly and a true expert plus he wears HOKA sneakers which is also my fav brand. Stop shopping around looking for the cheapest deal with a promised amount then they add extra charges in the end. I'm impressed with Rick and will definitely call him again!!! He da man!!!
Excellent service! Rick came out on New Year's Eve to fix our hot tub. He responded immediately and tried to walk us through how to fix the problem ourselves before he came out. When I couldn't fix it myself, he offered to come out and fixed it very quickly at a great price. I'm really impressed with the service and so happy to have our hot tub back for the new year. Just finished up our EV charger installation in the garage at our home in LC. Really happy we met Rick and waited for his schedule to free up. Rick came by twice to look at the job and estimate what we needed. He was very transparent and made sure he wasn't going to do more than we needed (or less), which could have easily been the case. Very positive experience. Rick was super responsive via message, and even helped troubleshoot a bit before he came out. When he came out, he helped explain the situation in a way that I could understand, and got us all set up for a very reasonable cost. We had issues with our circuit breaker - certain outlets were extremely sensitive and would set off the breaker several times a day. Rick fixed it for us quickly and reasonably! Will definitely use again.

As someone who is extremely cynical and has had a lot of bad experiences with service providers in the past, I have to say that working with Rick has been a revelation. Not only is he incredibly good at solving electrical problems that others have scratched their heads over, he is also a guy who is not looking to sell you the most expensive option when a simple repair, or a replacement of parts and not the whole item will do. He is an honest man and a fair man. A rare commodity.
His work is high quality and he and his team are efficient with their time; their time and YOUR time. No one hopes to have electrical problems, but if that should be the case for me going forward, Rick is always going to be my first call. Thank you Rick!

Rick is amazing!
A few months ago he came over for a small job with a mysterious light switch. I wanted it to actually do something. We have an old house and so I didn't want to risk breaking something. He enlightened us that our light switch was probably for some sconces that were plastered over. We we're thrilled because this room needed more light. He dug them out and helped us install some beautiful sconses.
THEN, he just came over for a quick consultation. On a Saturday, he fit us in.
He doesn't BS you. He doesn't make you spend money you don't have to. He cares. He is refreshing.

Rick was friendly, professional and very easy to talk too. Upon site inspection, he was able to provide an acceptable quote immediately. When an opening in his schedule was available we were able to fast track the installation date ! This was very much appreciated. He & his crew completed the project quickly, keeping the area clean and free of the installation materials. He waited for our return so we could perform a test - everything performed smoothly. I would definitely recommend Rick and plan to use him again in any future projects.
Rick was awesome! We called a few electricians that had been recommended to us and so many were unavailable or didn't return our calls. I had an appt with another electrician and that was going to take a week just for them to come and give us and estimate. Rick gave me an estimate over yelp since the job was pretty straight forward. That price didn't change when he came ON A SUNDAY to get the job done. He did it all in less than two hours and it was all great work. So friendly as well. A previous electrician had come and made me feel anxious because he claimed everything was hard to get to in the crawl space. That guy insulted the work that our previous electricians had done and made the job sound complicated and it wasn't. He also estimated the job at double what Rick asked. Rick was a ray of sunshine. He brought Joey, who climbed up into the crawl space no problem. No drama. I really appreciate that he squeezed us in on the weekend because we both work and it's hard to find a time to be there during the week. I highly recommend him.

Called rick... Told him about my small electrical issue... Said he would try to stop by on his way home that afternoon...He must live in Siberia because that was 5 days ago... Hey , I know my job was small, but at the very least, call and say you aren't coming on That afternoon...Or at all..see , I Also need 15 recessed lights installed... So yeah, this little job would have turned into a big job. Bottom line: don't blow off potential customers, especially those who yelp!

A perfect experience that ended with my electrical problem being solved. I found that Rick and his crew worked quickly and had the experience to troubleshoot and fix the problem.
I called him and he came out the next morning (earlier than promised). He was honest and very reasonably priced.

Working with Rick was great. I had a strange and frustrating wiring issue that made absolutely no sense but Rick and Brandon were able to chase down the cause and correct it for me. My daughter was having issues with her power. Lights blinking and so on. Had power company come and check. They said the breaker box was going bad. Sure enough it was in bad shape. Rick came and fixed it the same day. Was very affordable and did really good work. Also fixed two outlets while he was here. I highly recommend him.

Thank you Yelpers! Another excellent service I found on Yelp. Rick repaired my electrical panel and installed three plugs. He and his crew were quick and clean. They arrived on time and completed the tasks quickly.
Rick made adjustments to the contract I requested without a single hesitation. He explained a problem I was having with my can lights and checked the service without charging me a penny.

The lights in our pool went out. I called Rick and he arrived the same day. He showed me that it was an electrical box that was faulty. He fixed the panel box and secured it properly. We recommend Rick and appreciate his prompt service and expertise.
We called Rick for a quote on a job requiring some jacuzzi wiring on an old home in the local area... when I called he personally answered the phone and was VERY nice. He said he could be over right away. We scheduled an appointment and he was right over right on time. He gave us an honest assessment of the problem, and multiple solutions to fix it. Some involved leaving everything alone and the other involved replacing the entire panel and getting the power company involved. What I want to say in a world of rip offs, unreliability, and poor customer service, is that this man and his company seem to have integrity and awesome customer service. We will definitely always use him as our electrician and want to tell the local area that there is a company out there that gives honest answers despite the bottom line. Very happy with Mr. Jackson!
Rick is the guy to call for tricky electrical problems. I had three guys out to fix my outdoor lighting that I inherited from the previous home owner who thought he was Thomas Edison. Outstanding gentlmen with incredible know how, Rick is a great person to know when the lights go out unexpectedly
We had some problems with our new home where certain electrical outlets were not working. I found Rick on Yelp, saw the reviews and gave him a shot.
He was at my house in 30 minutes, walked through our entire place, and problem solved all our electrical issues. He even gave us a small tutorial on how to change and fix small things that could be a hassle.
His prices are about right and he is very kind.He was able to fix our fuse box and tell us how to keep to working if there is a problem. PLUS I learned alot from this craftsman in those 30 minutes.

Soon after I moved into my new house a breaker connected to an AC unit tripped and wouldn't reset. I called Rick Jackson Electrical just in case it was just the fault of the breaker, which I assumed would be way cheaper than if it was the AC. In the end it was the AC, BUT in the process of checking things out Rick discovered some serious issues with loose connections in the panel, which were causing serious heat, like melting plastic pieces of the panel type heat.
He came back the next day with new parts and redid the connections for a reasonable price and a lot of speed, and I am secure in the knowledge that my risk of electrical fire has been greatly reduced. I would recommend him to anyone in the area.
I just spoke with this gentlemen about coming to get a quote and he was quick and to point that he was booked for the next month and a half, so why is advertising his business specially for what we were asking for. Very rude.

Been waiting for my mom's handyman to show up or call so I can have an electrical outlet installed in my backyard. A year later... yeah, you read it right, a year later, I finally got fed up and called a friend. He gave me his electrician's info. I called and got Elvis on voicemail, left a message. Three days later, still no electrician. Is it really that hard to find one out here?
I Yelped and found Rick, called and left a voicemail. I almost fell off the sofa when I got a call back in half an hour. I mean, it was a Saturday, who calls back on a weekend? I described to him what I wanted and he gave me a guesstimate of about $225. We agreed for him to come by later that afternoon. He later called to let me know he's 10 minutes away.
I showed him what I wanted to do. He looked at where the existing electrical cables and power are, and based on my very simple needs, suggested installing a box next to the breaker. His quote went down to $175, and promised he'd be back the next day, Sunday, which he did.
Rick installed an electric outlet in a box with a flip top cover to keep it from getting wet, he also made it 20 amps so that it can be used with power tools. Everything was to code and legal. It took him about half an hour. When it was time to pay, I was pleasantly surprised to hear his charge of a buck and a half, parts included and no surcharge for Sunday work.
I am very happy with his work. The whole experience was pain free and it got done in 24 hours. I will definitely use Rick again.

I needed my entire board replaced as it had fried on me. It came at an unfortunate time as it was well above 90 degrees late on a friday so I was about to be without air conditioning and power for the weekend. My board was older so it was not an easy to find replacement. He worked late and made sure to get my power back on that day. I also think he charged a fair price. I would call him again if I had electrical issues again in the future.

Rick Jackson came to my home yesterday and chased down a problem that has been plaguing me for YEARS! It required patience and critical thinking to track it down and HE DIDI IT! Other electricians have come/gone saying that when the intermittent problem becomes permanent, then they'll be able to help me. But not Rick! He systematically went through all the aspects of the issue until, lo and behold, he pulled a shorted wire out of the wall. AMAZING. His price was most reasonable and his work impeccable. Call Rick, he can be trusted. When he left yesterday he said, Now you are one of my customers and I've got your electrical problems covered. As a single, female homeowner, that was music to my ears.

For ONCE Yelp didn't let me down for a service person. I've gone through many bad plumbers and electricians from Yelp over the years. But Rick is the most professional service person (and knowledgeable electrician) I've ever encountered over the years, and I've used many contractors, handymen, plumbers and electricians. I had complete confidence in his knowledge and skills and he always answered my calls, which is not always the case with others. Plus, if possible, he even offered advice over the phone or text, which is also very generous. He even spent a lot of time on the phone and in person giving free advice and education before he bid the job, and didn't charge me a dime.
I've learned my lesson, for specialized systems like electricity, to always use a licensed person in the specialized area. And I've learned to not always go with the least expensive, cause you get what you pay for. And sometimes the handymen want to charge more than the licensed electrician to do the work. We used Rick once for a large job and a second time for a smaller job. And talked several times on the phone. I can't say enough good things about him as an electrician and a professional.

I found Rick through yelp. We needed to install a second SCE meter to feed our electric car charger. I really liked Rick's estimate. Even though the Los Angeles County and SCE did not see eye to eye on the proper method of second meter installation, Rick managed to get them to agree. He and his crew came out on the day he promised and did a great job. They made really good suggestions to keep the esthetics of the house even though the ground wire needed to be ran to the front of the house. He kept in constant communication with me and I was always up-to-date with everything that was going on.
I definitely plan to use Rick for other jobs. I was extremely happy with his work, quote, and overall approach to customer service.

I wish I could give Zero or Negative stars. Rick did a lot of electrical work on our house after we purchased it 7 years ago and we recently had to have a few of the items replaced because of wear or cosmetic changes. Both of the new electricians that we used physically showed us the sloppy work that Rick did when we hired him. It ranged from missing screws in ceiling fans (very scary and dangerous) to an upgrade that he did on a sub-panel that was made by GE and he used another manufacturer which they both said is a no-no because if say we had a fire and it was due to GE's panel, GE would say not our fault because you used XYZ manufacturer's parts when you did the upgrade. Today we just found out that he took a shortcut on work he did on a panel and the city inspector said we'd have to get it fixed. It's a $100 fix and we're just baffled at why Rick wouldn't have done the work the proper way the first time-we would have gladly paid the extra $$$. I too would have given Rick 4 stars back when he did work for us (not 5 because scheduling was always a nightmare) but I didn't know then what I know now. Electrical is nothing to play around with-check Rick's work or have someone knowledgeable check it or you'll have some dangerous and costly surprises like we did. He comes across as a nice guy but definitely isn't ethical or honorable.

Thank goodness for Rick Jackson and his guys. Rick was incredible at getting us the best deal on the best bathroom ceiling fans [he helped me pick them out through Amazon so the fans were delivered to my door] and then he and his guys were extremely efficient at installing the fans -- in just a few hours each. And all this great work -- the fans look beautiful and work perfect -- even though we gave Rick such short notice about needing the fans installed. We're absolutely grateful that Rick made it happen.

Rick was available the next day after I called to install a new chandelier, super friendly, explained what he was doing, and ended up being less expensive than what he quoted me. His phone quote was also much less expensive than what other competitors quoted. He also made time to install a dimmer and did other work around the house. Rick is cheaper than other electricians: he won't tell you if he is several hours late of your appointment, he asked you for a ladder but forgot to put it back, didn't put all screws for the base of the light...I would pay more for other electricians in future.
Rick was refreshing. Called him to gauge if any large systemic issues in our electric system. He was on time, respectful and took the time to talk to me like a human being and teach me about how electricity works (it's true, now I know about AMPS and VOLTS). He inspected the breaker box and some other areas of the premises and determined that the system is running as designed and affirmed my suspicion that previous contractors were simply attempting to use fear to up-sell to hardware and services that were not necessary. I've found that's it's better to pay just a little bit more to get an honest and conscientious contractor like Rick who can save you money in the long run. I would hire Rick again for any electrical related issues.
And now, five stars for Rick's work as well! Installed a fan in our bathroom - on a Friday night - great price, great work, very easy to deal with....also great communication!

Outstanding work and service. We needed our electrical panels upgraded, and so we got several estimates. Rick was the best price and the highest rated. We weren't disappointed.
Rick called SCE to make sure the panels were located correctly before we even had him out for an estimate. He told me on the phone it will need to be done regardless of who you hire to do the work. He arrived on time for the estimate (the only one of four who did), explained the work, and e-mailed an estimate the same day.
On the day of the project he showed up early, and his crew was ready to go right away. They completed the work ahead of schedule and in a professional yet friendly manner. They took care of the job and cleaned up everything afterwards. Then Rick followed up after the inspector came out just to make sure everything was OK. He also recommended a stucco and paint guy who quoted a fair price as well.
Any electrical work on our place in the future will be done by Rick and his crew.

Rick is so good he can do repairs over the phone! The fluorescent in our kitchen stopped working and after replacing the bulb with a new one, it still didn't work. So I found Rick on yelp with rave reviews and my wife called him and told him the problem. Rick was nice enough to ask some questions and look at photos of the broken light fixture that my wife emailed him. He scheduled and appointment the same day and gave us a fair price over the phone for the repair.
He called a couple hours later and asked if we had put both bulbs in the fixture. I only put one bulb in thinking that's all I needed but both bulbs need to be in in order for it to work. So I went home during lunch, put both bulbs in and like magic, the light was back on.

We found Rick throgh our real estate agent and now he is or electrician. He is friendly, reliable, smart and enthusiastic about his work. It's like having a science teacher doing your electrical wiring. He also inspected the house before he gave his (free) estimate, which was lower than the competitors. And he came in under budget. called Rick for some simple service (add a couple of outlets.) Got an appointment for only 2 days later. Rick showed up exactly on time, did the work perfectly and at the estimated cost, cleaned up after the job, and was very friendly and professional.

After an incredibly stupid move on my part all the lights in my kitchen were lost. I found Rick on Yelp and gave him a call.
He returned the call, gave me a pep talk and arrived when he said he tould. This was less than a week before Christmas when most other contractors told me there was no help available until after the holiday. It was also one of those days when we were receiving the torrential downpours of mid-December.
Rick fixed the problem quickly and charged me a very reasonable amount for the time, effort and expertise.

Rich was extremely helpful and informative when he came out to look at our problem. He gave us options so we could save money. He could have done all the work himself and made more money but, instead, he explained the situation to us and we saved a lot of money by doing a few simple things ourselves. He gave us lots of additional good advice on all things electrical. He's seems like a regular fellow who is easy to talk to.

I wish i could give him 5 negative stars! During a remodel, I hired Rick Jackson to get my electrical up to code so I could pass the city inspection. I had a list of items, provided by the city, that needed correcting. Rick agreed to do the work. The morning that he was suppose to start the job, I called him and he informed me that he called the city regarding their list of correction items for my house and asked a city professional if my electrical panel needed to be moved. He told me that they said it did. I told him that that was not on their list of corrections and I just wanted to follow the city inspectors list. Rick than informed me that he can only do the job if I agree to move the electrical panel to a different location in my house. He said the city required it be moved and he quoted an additional $1,000 to move the panel! I was in shock that he would call the city, give them my address, and ask them if their correction list should be longer! Needless to say, that was the end of working with Rick. I found and hired a straightforward and honest electrician who did a fantastic job! The electrical panel was not moved and I passed city inspection without any issue. Save yourself the headache by not hiring Rick Jackson.

Rick is great! I found his company on the La Rocca Inspection website (under referrals). We had just purchased a new home and the electrical needed updating. I had gotten a pretty high estimated from another vendor saying I needed to upgrade our entire electrical panel, etc etc. When Rick came to do an inspection, he took the time to explain what we really needed and saying it wasn't necessary to upgrade our entire panel. He was honest and educated us on our electrical system. He emailed me my estimate a few hours later and even worked with our budget. Him and his crew were punctual, did the work and were in and out in a day, cleaned up after themselves and were really courteous. I had just called Rick for a quick repair and as usual showed up minutes before he was expected and gave me a fair price. He's very smart, you can tell he's been doing this for years & a funny guy - we will definitely be calling Rick again for all our future needs. He also does outdoor lighting plans!

We had some AC issues over the 4th of July holiday and we were in need of a new circuit breaker. We called Rick and he was able to come and fix our breaker on a Saturday, during a holiday weekend. He was very professional and honest and we would not hesitate to call him in a second. Not only did he fix our breaker, he did a thorough job of inspecting our AC unit, which isn't even part of his job. He just wanted to make sure that our AC repair man did a proper job. He even spoke with our AC repair man to make sure we didn't get ripped off. Finally, he texted me the very next day to follow up with me to make sure our AC was working. Fantastic! We had lighting issues in our living room...can lights that drove us crazy. Rick came out, suggested different lights and what a huge difference. He's totally reliable, efficient.

I found Rick Jackson Electrical through yelp. I hired him twice on two separate occasions, the first time everything went well and I found Rick to be honest and professional. The second time, the pricing and work completed was inconsistent with my prior experience with him. Rick did not finish all work he had agreed to complete. I was hoping Rick would be a regular electrician for my homes but at this time I am not sure that will be the case.
I had a couple of small electrical problems at home. I decided to call Rick after reading the review on yelp. He was in my house in 10 minutes (amazing!). He quickly fixed one problem. The other problem requires ordering a replacement part or unit. Rick provided me with options so that I can decide how I want it to be fixed. Rick Jackson rescued me after I did something really stupid (got liquid into an electrical socket--a long story, don't ask--causing melodramatic snap, crackle and popping, smoke, etc.). With no advance notice or prior customer experience with me, Rick came over on the morning of a holiday weekend, when he was imminently expecting family visitors, and fixed the problem right away. He also showed me how the socket had been developing a dangerous situation anyway, and that my accident had actually revealed the problem before it caused a fire, and he showed me how to avoid that problem in the future. All this at a reasonable cost AND (I like this part best) with none of the patronizing, Well there, little lady approach that many men use when talking with women about technical things, which drives me crazy. He was just very matter of fact, showing me something I didn't know about. I'm definitely going to use him again!
