I specialize in kitchen, bathroom, and laundry remodels, new water heaters whether tanks or on demand, and gas line repair or replacements. I fix all kinds of leaks. I build out residential and commercial kitchens from the underground piping to to the final trim. I work well with inspectors, owners, and architects, in order to resolve any issues that arise. I do all small repair jobs such as faucet, garbage disposal, and toilet repair, replacement, or installation. All jobs are completed to a professional standard. I don't specialize in drain cleaning.

Established in 2011.
I have worked as a plumber in San Francisco for ten years. When I set up the business, I was the in charge of all of the plumbing for one general contractor. The majority of my work over the last couple years has been doing all of the build out, remodel, and trim work for the same general contractor. I continue to do work with them, but am now available to do more of my own jobs.

Probably should drive better and with more kindness and courtesy if you're going to be in a company vehicle.
I was at a 3-way intersection with a massive blind spot because of a moving truck that was blocking my view. I got there first but the driver of this company van not only decides to NOT let me go, but mean mugs me with entitlement as he passes by.
Hmmmmm. Two stars instead of one because maybe he's having a bad day and I want to extend the benefit of the doubt.
Not letting me go, fine. But staring me down. That was unnecessary and unprofessional.
EDIT: Sean reached out to me right after this negative review and asked for me to make it more positive since he'd been out of town. I'd expect to have gotten a text or email in response to one of mine to that effect. Something like still working on your quote, I'll respond when I'm back from vacation would have been all I wanted. I was looking for proactive, clear communication from someone installing my new wall toilet, and I got none of that from Sean. Can't comment on his work itself, just on his communication.

Excellent service and work. Sean was able to come within a few hours of our call, sorted out the problem and had all of the materials and tools with him. This is the third time we've worked with him, and all of the work has been great and done for a fair price.

Fantastic local plumber with clear communication and reasonable prices.
Sean installed our new faucet and proactively identified and solved problems with a rusty pipe that nobody else had found, saving us from a serious potential leak in the future. Highly recommended, and a reminder of why actual plumbers (instead of random taskrabbit fix-it folks) are awesome.

Update: Great news from the owner! He indeed does diagnosis and repairs. That's great because I've seen so many positive recommendations on neighborhood listservs for Red Wrench!
Just FYI. when I called the other day for help with a drain and a separate leak, the person answering said the the plumber does ONLY installations and NO REPAIRS, no diagnosis of problems, no snaking.
Sean quickly responded to my request for a quote involving a water heater replacement. Although we didn't up going with him, his quote was competitive and he was honest and professional.
Overdue review from when he replaced our water heater last year. Did a great job, efficient and prompt. Still working great. Just called him to see if he could fix sewer backup although thought it was not likely
He texted back to call 311 and have the city come out and fix it.
The other plumbing company I called as well did not mention this option.
Super appreciate the info. In fact the city did come out and fixed the issue and Sean saved me a lot of money and hassle.

I hired Sean to replace my tankless water heater. Not only did he do an excellent job with the replacement, but he took a few minutes to answer my questions and familiarize me with the new system. Sean has just finished another great job for me. I called him to see if he could re-do some old and odd plumbing that was in the way of an upcoming renovation. Other plumbers I contacted seemed baffled by it, but Sean came up with a sound solution and an elegant result. He does top-shelf work, and is a real pleasure to work with. Always prompt, easy to communicate with, and I feel so lucky to have made his acquaintance. His pricing is fair, and he is very straight-forward. We hired Sean to install an earthquake shut-off valve for our gas line. I've been looking for a go to plumber for a while.
We got a number of quotes. His was right in there. He works fast, does good work, returns calls, shows up when he says, cleans up and is a nice guy, easy to work with.
Bonus points for living in the neighborhood. Our new go-to.
We've had a number of plumbing work completed on our home during the last few years, including water heater upgrades, sinks and disposal installation, toilet installations and repairs, and Sean has a provided impeccable service each time. He's thorough, expedient, pleasant, and incredibly good at his job - and his responsiveness is by far the best of any tradesman we've worked with in the city.

Today it was a very leaky shower spigot that needed new innards. Previously, Sean has installed a water heater, fixed other various and sundry plumbing issues. Grateful to have a small business as responsive as Red Wrench plumbing in the neighborhood!
We have used Red Wrench for several years, and have always loved Sean's work. He responds quickly, does beautiful work, and stands by the job. Everything from smaller jobs (like a persistently running toilet), to repairing a sewage pipe, the work is expertly done and holds up to time. I have nothing but great things to say about Sean. I first hired him to replace a tankless water heater. Sean was very communicative and responsive, he showed up on time to review the job in order to provide an estimate, provided an estimate in a timely manner, was clear in setting expectations regarding the work that would need to be done, and finished the job on time. I had a very positive experience and recently hired him again to repair a running toilet.
Sean is an expert and works quickly and efficiently. He also charges fair prices. Sean is also just a really nice guy.

I had installed a new faucet I'm my kitchen only to get a dribble of water out. After calling Red Wrench they walked me through the process they would use to ensure a clean line over the phone. But I still had a dribble if water. A little research later and they knew my faucet had two points were debris can clog the line.
I was able to clear the line and some my problem in 10 min. Without the plumber visiting.
This kind of great customer service is why Red Wrench plumbing is so fantastic. Small thing,. They can help out do it for you. Big thing, they will make sure you don't start something you shouldn't, and are there to get it done right.
Sean came to our rescue when our ancient water heater broke. The replacement parts we needed where very hard to find but Red Wrench never gave up until the job was done.
Sean also gave us great feedback on our upcoming bathroom remodeling plans and water saving issues.

If you need great plumbing service for a reasonable price, this is the place to go. Amazing experience!
Dealing with plumbing issues is really stressful, but Sean made everything go smoothly and fast. He was extremely punctual, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He worked efficiently while keeping polite conversation, and he was very nice to explain any doubts I had.
He fixed a leak under the kitchen sink and replaced my old faucet for a new one, while maintaining the integrity of the kitchen counter and the old faucet (he was very careful about removing it and properly storing its pieces). He was very thorough and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving.
I'm extremely happy with this experience and I'm so glad to have a great plumber in the city. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I have been working with Sean for several years now and he always gets the job done right! He is efficient, skilled and hard working. He is also very fair in his pricing. He is easily available and very flexible. If the job is a no brainer for him and takes five minutes, he doesn't charge me. And he is sweet to boot!!! Sean is my go to plumber!!
Work up this morning to a puddle of water leaking from the ceiling and immediately called Red Wrench as they've done some small jobs for us in the past. Sean called us back in an hour, was onsite within 2 and had drywall down, pipes repaired and was sweeping up after himself within 3 hours.
Sean is communicative, professional, friendly and walked me through each of the decisions we needed to make. He's top notch.

Sean is always here in a flash. He's quick, honest, and great at giving options to help solve my plumbing problems. I used him 5+ times at least! I would like to highly recommend Sean at Red Wrench Plumbing. He is extremely courteous, responsive and gets his work done quickly and neatly. When we called him for our plumbing issue, we were able to book an appointment the next morning. He came right on time, diagnosed the problem, and quoted me a fair price. I am very satisfied with his work and would recommend him to neighbors.
Another thumbs-up for Sean and Red Wrench Plumbing... and I hate everyone. Actually, I hired someone else first who completely botched the job (replacing a shower valve) but Sean did all the detective work to find a replacement for a weird doohickey not seen since the Taft administration... he either made 20 calls or has some fancy machine learning system that identifies things that don't even have a name anymore. Short version is he got it, installed it, shower works fine and he billed me *less* than the guy who replaced the wrong part that didn't need to be replaced.
Friendly and as responsive as a 5 star plumber can be.

Sean has great skills. Communicative up to appointment,punctual. Helped replace angle stops in wet bar sink in my condo. The repair took longer than anticipated as the area was difficult to get to underneath the cabinet. Also involved shutting off water to the building. Good experience overall.

Red Wrench gets it done. Sean easily diagnosed and solved the problems with my janky old faucet, advised me on some bigger issues, and went the extra mile to finish the project. Great communication, super fast, and on point. I almost look forward to my next plumbing crisis.
We inherited a rat's nest of plumbing from former owners and Sean and team cleaned everything up impeccably, essentially replacing all of the plumbing in our house. They were prompt, responsive, and personable, and we'd have every confidence to hire them again and would wholeheartedly recommend them without hesitation. It's feeling harder and harder to find someone who'll respond quickly in these busy and overbooked times, but Sean always found the time to come by for even the smallest of requests. Two thumbs up.

Sean helped me out with the installation of a gas shutoff valve. He was friendly, conscientious and found a solution to what turned out to be a small but tricky job.

Once again Sean helped us out! We did a condo conversion and I had to use the plumber that worked with the general that did the job. We have had an ongoing issue with something that was installed for the bathtub. Sean was the only one that figured-out what needed to be done to remedy the problem. Sean is the type of handy man everybody needs in life. He has handled multiple jobs for me including: gas line installation, earthquake shut-off valve installation, fixed leaky sink. Furthermore, he has also given me great advice regarding my old furnace and a leak that appeared underneath my shower. His advice saved me thousands of dollars in addition to solving problems at their early stages before they became major headaches. The furnace situation I had in particular was very dangerous and I am forever grateful he relayed that information to me.
He is a very personable person who explains what he is doing step by step. He shows up on time every time and generally comes by the house within an hour or two of calling. As a bonus he is also very friendly with my recently rescued dog.
Do yourself a favor hire and hire this guy. You won't want to call anybody else.

Sean is awesome! I called him to install seismic gas shutoff valve at my place and requested he bring the part so that he can provide quote and installation in one trip. He came on time early morning and was able to install everything in an hour. He had attention to detail and checked both working gas as well as re-ignited pilot light of gas water heater. Great first experience!
However, don't know how the pilot light went off the next day (Saturday). I left a voicemail on Sunday and he got back to me very quickly even though he doesn't work on weekends. He came out first thing on Monday morning and fixed this. Would highly recommend him and will call him again for any future jobs.

Just a follow up after writing this review, Sean the owner threatened me and said he would swing by my house. This guy exudes unprofessionalism.
Bottom line: he sends me an invoice and I end up paying more than the invoice as a good gesture. Afterwards he blames me for his error, wants to get more money out of me, makes up a story that he told me about the higher price and then proceeds to threaten me after calling me insulting names. For the last 8 years, I have owned a property in Bernal Heights and a multi unit in Haight Ashbury and have never encountered this kind of person. I can deal with shady plumbers but to threaten me is unacceptable.
We have had nothing but trouble with our kitchen sink since we bought our house. We've had several folks out to fix it. We finally decided enough was enough and we had the entire sink/disposal replaced. A month later the problems started again.
We call Sean he came out and in a matter of minutes was able to explain the issue and why nothing that had been done before would be able to fix it. He gave us several options to fix it and explained the trade offs between them. In the end we told Sean fix it the right way. It was more expensive but once the work was done we could see the difference and we aren't plumbers.
Do yourself a favor and just call Sean first.

I always call Sean when I have a plumbing problem! He has fixed or installed various plumbing parts. He comes in a timely fashion and in addition to fixing the plumbing problem, he provides good conversation.
One day, while I was buying a new toilet to be installed by Sean, I ran into him. Since I had taken a Lyft there, I was going to take a Lift back. But, lo and behold, there was Sean doing some of his own buying of supplies! He was very sweet and offered me a ride back home.
Sean knows his way around sinks, tubs, toilets, etc. I trust him fully to be fair and super competent. You can't go wrong with Sean!

I called Red Wrench after an aborted attempt to install a new sink faucet in which I introduced a leak somehow. They answered immediately and scheduled a visit the next day. Soon they called back with an earlier same-day opening, and arrived on-time just a couple hours after my initial call. The work was done quickly and professionally.
I really appreciated the quick response time -- I tried to contact a few other places, but some still haven't replied, and the job is already done! Also, the price was much cheaper than the (outrageous) price quoted by another plumbing service.
I'll be calling Red Wrench first next time!

Sean does a phenomenal job! Our Hot water heater busted last Saturday night. I called around to a few places and got lucky enough to call Red Wrench Plumbing on Monday. Sean came out and assessed the situation that afternoon, earlier than he originally scheduled, and by Tuesday afternoon, I was enjoying hot water again! This guy really gets the job done and in a serious professional way with prices that are highly favorable to the one other competitor I called.
Our previous hot water heater was... sketchy in it's bracing, to say the least. Now we have a shiny new one that's completely stable and quite lovely. Sean walked me through how to use it, what the indicator lights meant, and even answered a few of my other questions about general plumbing stuff. Red Wrench should be the first yelp result to come up, and your first phone call, no question about it. Bonus points for being a real joy to talk with, too :)

4th happy post about Red Wrench!
Today's emergency (well, an emergency to us) wasn't by any means a 911 call, and since it's the first day back after the holiday, I knew the chance of Sean being available was slim to none (which turned out to be the case). But, because he's a fantastic and responsive plumber, he made time for us yet again. He quickly solved the problem and we're back in business. I really can't say enough for Sean's abilities, insta-communication skills, and friendliness. 5 more stars for him!
Second update: An hour ago, I discovered a leak that must have started after my husband tried to clean out the trap on our bathroom sink. In the past hour, I contacted Sean and he came by and fixed it! That's service!
Update: Sean did such a great job on that initial project that I've since hired him two more times: to install a stove and to replace an old bathroom sink with a rather complicated vanity. He showed up on time, did excellent work, and even took all the debris away. Great experience--will keep him on speed dial for future plumbing needs.
My first post: Kitchen sink had developed a mystery leak. Cole Hardware (bless them) recommended Red Wrench, and he was able to take care of it that day. Turned out to be a more complicated leak than I'd expected, but Sean went out for all the parts and had the whole thing put back together quickly, for a great price. Very affable fellow, too. Sean is timely, friendly, professional, and really knows his business.
He didn't oversell the job, but explained the situation and possible gotcha's that we might encounter. When the work began, I was fully informed on scope and price and prepared for worst-case situations. But the work came in under budget and was completed more quickly than we had thought. Additionally, Sean navigated tricky scheduling and access issues with tenants and neighbors beautifully. He gets the highest recommendation from a picky landlord client (me). Great job!
I noticed that one of the pipes under my kitchen sink was leaking. I was able to easily set up an appointment with Red Wrench Plumbing for the next day. It turned out that the fix was very easy, just a couple of thingie-ma-bobs that needed to be tightened with some sort of wrench-like-device, but my non-mechanically inclined brain definitely couldn't have figured it out without help. The price charged was VERY reasonable for such a simple fix. The plumber was on time, courteous, and professional. I would definitely go back to this company again!

I cannot stress enough what a good guy Sean from Red Wrench is. It's Stormageddon 2014 and we had some major leaking. Sean came over within 40 minutes to assess the situation and identified the problem as not plumbing related, but water overflow foundation related. He gave us honest advice on who to contact and didn't charge a dime for the visit/consult.
That is true integrity and customer service.
We added bathroom to our house and ran into a problem connecting to an old sewer main. The contractor didn't want anything to do with it so we called out a few plumbers to decided what to do. Sean had the most insightful solution and comprehensive plan and for a reasonable price. He and his guys were on time, thorough and completed the job in timely manner. I had a few small unrelated plumbing issues come up since and Sean was on top of it every time. I highly recommend him as your plumber.
To notch service! When I called Sean picked up immediately. Within 10 minutes he was at the house to do the inspection. Then he was able to figure out what was wrong and in 20 minutes the work was done!

Sean was fantastic. After contacting multiple plumbers and contractors regarding tricky inspection report for a condo conversion, Sean was the only one who was honest about the scope of work needed and what we had to do to pass inspection. For example, rather than recommend we replace all our water heaters like every other plumber did, he pointed out we could hire a HVAC company to replace the ducting which would save a lot of expense. And when the HVAC company fell short, he did some minor alterations to get us through the inspection. Plus he was extremely responsive and was able to schedule things for the next week. Would highly recommend.
We contacted Sean today about a leak in our kitchen sink and he came out today and fixed it right away. He was professional, knowledgeable and he responded ahead of schedule! Sean was terrific!

My hot water line started leaking in the wall in a really tough spot to reach and very tight area to get a torch into. Sean looked at the issue and it was clear he would be able to fix it without needing me to remove my stacked washer/dryer. The nice thing about a one-man shop is that he didn't send someone else to do the job... the day of the repair he fixed it just like he said he would. And he did a beautiful job.

I contaced Red Wrench today. Sean telephoned me back quickly (before I received any other quotes) and told me how I can fix it for myself!
I found Sean through this site on Yelp when I needed someone to come out and fix a leak in my shower. An appointment was quickly set up and he fixed the leak in a matter of minutes for a very good price. To my further delight, I found out that he is a neighbor! When it came time for me to put in a gas line to my backyard, I knew I was going to hire Sean. He came out and gave me a quote first and we talked about what I could do on my end to save money (dig my own trench). He did a great job, finished the job early and with minimum disruption to the household. Not only is Sean very professional and reliable, but he's also a cool guy. I would highly recommend him.

I would definitely recommend. Sean helped replace the main valves for the house. Very professional, thorough, and answered all my questions. No hidden fees.

A few weeks ago, i discovered that the nut connecting the drain pipe to my sink had split in half, causing water leakage whenever i ran the faucet.
When I called Sean and explained the issue rather than try to push me toward his services he actually took the time to tell me exactly how to fix it on my own. However due to time constraints on my part, after a week of changing the drip pan, I called him back, scheduled a visit for 5pm. He showed up at 5 on the dot, and literally 7 minutes later he was walking out the door, job well done!

I have also used him for some toilet fixes as work and hes always showed up and taken care of the job with a minimum of time and expense. Reccomended without reservation!
I had slow running water, with no pressure, in my bathroom and kitchen. In looking for a good plumber, I found it difficult to find one who could diagnose a problem then actually fix it.
Sean's process takes a little patience but pays off in the end.
1. I contacted his assistant who books an initial consultation with you.
... This costs $45, but Sean comes out and thoroughly evaluates
the situation and tells you how to prep for his work.
(One comment... He is very direct. I like this. No BS to get the job.
He tells it like it is... and in the end there were no surprises.)
2. I needed to order certain faucet parts, which he told me exactly how
to do for my specialty kitchen faucet and I needed to have wallboard
removed under the bathroom sinks for him to get to the problem.
3. Once I received the parts and removed the wallboard, I contacted his
assistant and she scheduled a four hour block of time to do the work.
4. My appointment was at 8:30AM. Sean was at the door exactly on time
5. He's did the work, thoroughly explained what he was doing and why.
6. He even called the faucet manufacturer for clarity on an issue he
encountered.
7. He finished in the time specified and for the price quoted.
7. Now, I have kitchen and bathroom faucets with good water pressure.
I highly, high recommend Sean. He will troubleshoot the problem and work hard to get it fixed to your satisfaction. I am happy to say that I have finally found a qualified, reliable plumber.
Sean was great. While previous contestants in the fix the shower game told us that we'd need a $2000 valve replacement, Sean was able to diagnose and fix the problem during a single house call. Sean was courteous and prompt and I'd recommend him as an excellent troubleshooting plumber.
After calling a few other plumbers who didn't want to deal with Condo Conversion I found Red Wrench Plumbing on Yelp. Sean was able to come out a few days earlier than his original estimate, and get our permit issues resolved quickly.

Our garbage disposal broke a day and a half before we were scheduled to host the one giant dinner party we throw all year (yes, typical).
I called around (a few big shops and some local mom/pop shops) and no one had technicians available to help with such a short turnaround time. The usual response each and every time: our first appointment isn't until next Wednesday afternoon, sorry. I was certain we wouldn't find someone in time to fix it. Well, Red Wrench Plumbing came to our rescue!!
I found Red Wrench through their glowing Yelp reviews and left a voicemail very late on a Thursday. I explained we were in a pinch and needed a fix or replacement unit before Saturday morning. The office manager called me back within 30 minutes to let me know that they didn't have availability but she would see if a technician could squeeze us in the next morning (Friday). She contacted Sean who was out on another call, no doubt saving another customer's day. An hour later, Sean rang me to ask about the issue, provide a ball-park estimate depending on the problem I had described, and schedule an appointment for the very next morning.
Sean went out of his way (really, they normally don't provide service in our SF neighborhood) and did so with a smile. As the appointment window approached, he called me prior to arrival to notify me that he was on his way and to make sure it was still a convenient time. He arrived right when promised and diagnosed the problem immediately (same problem our landlord said it was). Sean replaced our defective garbage disposal and made sure everything was in good working order. He asked me to contact him if we had any trouble with the installation.
After the appointment, I needed to follow up with Sean due to additional requests that my landlord had (a second copy of the invoice, proof of purchase, and warranty for the new system). I hated to bug him, but Sean replied immediately to my request and sent me the required paperwork the very next day. The new unit came with a 2-year warranty and Sean threw in additional 3 years of service (parts and labor) to cover the system if anything ever happened to it.

Plumbing problems are almost always urgent and never happen at a good time. When I called Sean I was in a real bind. had been forced to turn off the water to my house -- not a good thing with a family of four. Anyway, Sean replied right away and fit me into his schedule. I was immensely grateful. He gets five stars for professionalism and efficiency. I will definitely call him again anytime I have a plumbing issue.
Quick and efficient! My water heater broke and Sean was able to come over and diagnose what the problem was within 30 minutes after I called Red Wrench in a late afternoon. Sean is wonderful. I had a kitchen sink disaster. All of my pipes had to be replaced and the main feed had to be lowered. He came over the same day I called and fixed it the next day. He worked fast and cleaned up beautifully afterwards. He was more than reasonably priced. He will get all my future business!

We called Sean for the simple task of hooking up our grill to our natural gas line. He came over for an estimate and found that the connector was rusted and needed to be replaced. I felt that many plumbers might have just let it slide, plugged it in and charged me for the hookup, but Sean really seemed to care that we had a safe set up. Super nice guy. We had been tolerating sub-par pressure in our over-sensitive Hansgrohe shower for a long time. It was getting worse. We tried everything we could, including changing the thermo cartridge (but I dropped the screw down the drain and couldn't get the knob off!) which often gets congested with particulates from the the water. Enter Sean. He suggested that the particles in the water may be coming from the aged hot water tank. I tested this theory by running a bucket of water directly from the tank and saw that it was gritty. We scheduled him to replace it (we left a message with his answering service and he got back to us). He arrived on time, and changed it expeditiously. Then we tested the shower, only to find ZERO hot water through the shower head! Obviously the process of changing the tank resulted in particulates completely jamming the over-sensitive cartridge. Argh. We originally intended to let a few days pass between installing the new hot water tank and addressing the shower but Sean committed to returning the next day to remove the shower knob and replace the parts (that I already had delivered and ready to go) in hope of remedying the situation. He came early (by special request to avoid interrupting a teleconference scheduled at the same time as the original appointment), worked quickly and quietly and FIXED IT! At last we have a shower that actually wets us without having to try to catch dribbles!!!!
Having Sean attend to our plumbing has improved our quality of life. Plus he's a good guy: responsive, punctual, fairly priced, knowledgeable, clean. We'll call him again next time.

Very great service! the owner did a fantastic job. I had an appointment at 4:00 PM today and he called me saying he could come earlier which worked out better for me! He did the job super fast, and hopefully now my leaky toilet will no longer be leaky! His service charge was a little higher than I had hoped but he was very kind, did a great job! Highly Recommend using this company! Don't look else where.
Sean is awesome! He's done work at our house AND at my office, and I wouldn't think of calling anyone else. I called him at around 10:00 to see if he could come by and take a look at our running toilet and by the time I made it back to my office at 2:00, he was done and gone! No mess left behind or any signs that he was even there other than the fact that the toilet was working perfectly. It was like gift!
He's an amazing plumber and he's such a great guy, with wonderful integrity and a top notch work ethic. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I had a leak under my sink the right before Thanksgiving and was worried I would have to wait out the holiday, but Sean responded immediately and was able to get it fixed. He also had some suggestions regarding my drippy, old faucet which I will definitely use Red Wrench to fix or replace when the time comes. Found a leak yesterday under our kitchen sink. Called 5 plumbers; only one had msg saying they were closed for the holiday. Left mgs w the other 4. Only Sean of Red Wrench called back, and he did so within 20 min.
He was able to come over later that same afternoon, helped me figure out what was leaking (a small point-of-use water tank), explained where all the shut-offs were, and turned off the water to the leaky device. He charged $45 for it being an estimate call, which seems like good value.
A day later the other plumbers still haven't called back, so whew, glad Sean was able to help us out.
Kudos to the ever reliable Cole Hardware referral service for connecting us with the awesome Sean McGrillen at Red Wrench Plumbing. When our ancient water heater died he was able to replace it the same day we called him and at a very reasonable price. A couple of weeks later Sean saved the day when our upstairs bathroom sprung a leak hours before we were leaving town on vacation. He was at our house within an hour and solved the problem in no time. Toilet fixed and vacation back on schedule. Professional, capable and a delight to work with, we won't hesitate to call Sean the next time we are in need of his services. Five stars indeed.

Husband not a regular yelper, so asked me to post on his behalf: So here goes:
Had a list of things to be done that I emailed to Sean. When he arrived he had all
needed parts in the truck.
He called to ask if it was okay to come early. I figured by the time he arrived the house keeper would be close enough to being finished to be no problem. He checked in the kitchen first to view the problem there. He stepped in, a couple of seconds later the house keeper laughed, all went well from there. He did the things first that would allow her to finish.
The biggest thing of the day was the water heater. He checked it and gave what I believe to be a fair evaluation of the life expectancy for it.

Sean understood that fast repair was of the essence. My sink kept dripping at the rate of 30 seconds filling a glass of water. He showed up fast, and fixed the problem, advising me how to fix the issue myself in the future. Great, honest guy!!
Two plugs here: First to Cole Hrdwr for their fantastic referral service. I have used them often and always with good results. Cole referred Red Wrench to me for replacing a kitchen faucet. We've used Red Wrench Plumbing several times for all sorts of issues, and Sean is as good as it gets! He's done everything from diagnose and fix a crazy (and very damaging) leak in our ceiling to install our gas grill to check our water pressure. He's always been extremely thorough, honest and affordable (we didn't even get charged to check the water pressure) and we will definitely continue using RWP in the future.

Just want to add my 5 stars to the mix b/c Sean is such a good, honest, hardworking tradesman who takes pride in his work and reputation. He is very prompt and went overboard to help me by coming back later in the day b/c I had a glitch that needed to be fixed first. He charged a very fair price and did the gas line installation in half the time he estimated. Finally, I know a reliable plumber that I will continue to call every time! (His understated British humor was also very appreciated!)
When we needed to find a plumber, Sean was recommended by one of our neighbors on Nextdoor.com. He stopped by our house on a Saturday and gave us a free and fair quote for relocating pipes and installing a new bathroom vanity in our 1900 Victorian home. He was professional, on-time (which was very much appreciated), and finished the job within the timeframe that he had quoted us. My husband and I were really pleased with his work and we would not hesitate to use him again. We're relieved that we have an excellent plumber that we can rely on in our Bernal Heights neighborhood.
My shower had a small, slow drip that consumed about 5g/day. I called Sean to inspect it and he initially suggested to just put a bucket under it and use it to water my lawn. I'm always impressed when a service provider suggests not doing a repair that would make them money bc it shows that they care more about their customers than just making a fast buck. If we weren't in a drought I'd have thanked Sean for his time and gone out to get a bucket. But bc of the water situation his year I decided to have him repair it. He checked out what part I needed to replace (a cartridge) and called me a couple of days later when he'd gotten one. He returned and got the job done quickly, professionally and at a fair price. Sean has been our plumber for over a year, and has been completely so dependable, quick, trustworthy and so great at his job! He is the only plumber we have ever trusted in our house without us home.

I needed to replace our old main pipe from the meter to the house because the water department was planning to upgrade our meter and said my water pipe was too corroded and if it leaked after the upgrade they would shut off our water until it was fixed. We're responsible for the pipe to the house so as a precaution I had Sean replace the water main ahead of the meter upgrade. He did an outstanding job and upgraded our main pipe from a 1/2 inch to 1 inch copper pipe. He was quick and professional; we were without water for only a short time. He gave us a very fair price and thoroughly cleaned up the site after all the work was completed. I couldn't recommend Sean more for anyone's plumbing needs.

Red Wrench Plumbing saves the day! Can't say enough great things about Sean and Red Wrench Plumbing! We had a pipe blowout over the utility sink on a Saturday morning and called several plumbers to see if they could come over on a weekend to fix/help out. We wanted to try and use a neighborhood small business...but none was available so we used a 24 hour service to at least temporarily close off that section (since leaving it on would have meant flooding...and turning off all the water would have left the whole house without water). Sean made contact on Sunday night to say he wasn't open on the weekend so missed my call but wanted to see if we had resolved the issue (appreciated him checking in). I explained the problem...and my desire to work with a local small business...and he came out a day or so later to see what was needed and how much it would cost. He was polite, friendly and easy to speak with. I presented several plumbing issues we had (including the burst pipe...might as well get it all done while the plumber was available) and he gave me a time frame and cost estimate that seemed fair and honest. We shook hands, set up a date and he came as promised...fixed everything we discussed...gave helpful advice on other things...and made everything work great! I would recommend Sean to anyone needing plumbing services! He does things correctly...goes out of his way to ensure everything is tip top...and follows through. Thanks Sean! Sean is very professional, skilled, and reliable, and amiable to boot. His assessment of the job is quite accurate, and he adds honesty and common sense to it to help you decide the best course of action. No push for the most expensive option. He did a great job for us: in our case, evaluating some old leaky gas pipes, and cutting and capping the ones that aren't in use anymore.
I needed to move my washer/dryer to a new location. Sean was professional and efficient in his service and knowledge of plumbing and gas. In addition, he took the time to be clear in explaining what he was doing and why. Sean is personably, dependable and honest and I would recommend him to anyone needing a trusting and professional plumber.
A month or so later
My hot water heater pilot light was not staying lite. I called Sean and told him the problem, he was able to shuffle his schedule and fit me in early the next day!
Not only did he fix the problem but he noticed the warranty was about to expire so he gave the whole thing a once over to make sure there wasn't any thing els that was about to go, so i could have it covered under my warranty, No extra charge. Amazing

I heard about Sean through the Bernal Parents' Network, a reputable recommendation machine and they were definitely right about him. My water heater broke at an inopportune time, Saturday night after plumbers stop working and he answered the phone anyway. He was funny and supportive on the phone and promised to come first thing in the morning (even though it was a Sunday). He was exactly ontime and got us the best possible water heater (not some knockoff from Home Depot) and installed it as soon as I gave him the go-ahead to do so. He was just polite and trustworthy during the whole process. I will definitely be giving him a call during our next plumbing emergency, probably not too far off.
terrible service and so OVER PRICED. showed up randomly (a different day than the appointment time) and also charges $200 - $250 an hour on average - which is exorbitant by any standard. he finished a job, then had to come back to actually finish it (missed some part the first time around).
got heisse plumbing to come out - and they were amazing. so affordable and the plumber went over and above (fixed a few extra things while he was here). we saved $400-500...with exceptional service to boot!

Had Sean come out to fix the old drain pipe in our house that started leaking. He was very professional yet friendly and quoted us a reasonable price. Scheduled the day to fix it, which was supposed to take one whole day, but he and his guys managed to replace all the pipes in a few hours. Woke up this morning to a really cold shower. Went down and checked the water heater and it was dripping at the bottom. Called Red Wrench a bit before 8, and Sean said he could meet me about 12. He was here 15 min early and got right to work. Had hot water back up and running before the end of the day.

We chose Sean because he is knowledgeable, explained what needed to be done clearly, is friendly and had the best reviews on Yelp! When the job was completed he was very thorough with his follow up to make sure there were no leaks. He noticed an issue with a flu from the water heater and happened to have a part in his van. Sean fixed the problem even though it was not related to the pipe he had replaced and did not charge us extra for the part or his time. His price was reasonable and he definitely cares about the quality of his work. Highly recommend Sean, if you are looking for a plumber give him a call. You will not be disappointed.

Out of the 3 different companies I've used, Red Wrench is simply the best! Starting from my initial phone call to schedule my appointment to the service itself, just above and beyond expectations :) Sean and his receptionist are super friendly, professional and people of their word. Finally, after 10 years of bad plumbing, Sean remedies it all in just one hour! Why has it taken so long to find not only a plumber to show up on the agreed upon time, but actual do the job right! All plumbers should take a page from Sean and his receptionist book! Awesome people, awesome service! Couldn't be happier :)

Sean was just another dad in the park. We said hello as we pushed our kids from the swings. As the years wore on, we became friends and eventually asked each other the specifics of the others life. My family is a huge fan of Sean as dad in the park, he is a great dad and sweet, funny, and a nice guy. It wasn't until this past year that we got to know Sean as professional awesome plumber. We have used the same contractor for years so never needed a plumber until we lost our contractor. We needed an industrial sink put into our garage in a pinch. Our pipes are old and confusing. Sean came and looked at job and said it would be easy. He was so amazing and by far the cleanest, fastest and most competent person we have ever had do work at our house. We are gearing up for a big remodel this next year and will definitely be asking Red Wrench to take on the job.
I had company coming to stay for a week and of course the laundry drain decided to start backing up and flooding the utility room. I got an appointment for the next day, but the projects were running behind and Sean wasn't going to be able to come that day (a Friday). However, Sean called and offered to come the next day - on Saturday - to take a look at the issue. Not only did he find the problem, but he solved it quickly and without making a mess. He also looked in to two other issues I was having and suggested solutions I could do my self (no charge). I highly recommend Sean - very professional!
I called Red Wrench plumbing after months and months of dealing with a leaking kitchen sink and finally resolving to get it fixed. I called in the morning and was set up with an appointment just a few hours later. Sean was fantastic! He assessed the damage and quickly set me up with a new sink drain. He was friendly and professional. If anything else goes awry with our apartment's plumbing he will absolutely be the person I will call, and I will easily recommend his service to others.

Be aware, they charge a $40 fee for an estimate (can be applied towards later work). This seems unusual, as other plumbers I found on Yelp do not charge for an estimate.

We had a pressing need and Sean was incredibly responsive and managed to come within a few hours although he had a busy schedule that day. I am very happy with his work and would not hesitate to call him again. Although my location might show as PA, my home is in Bernal Hts.
I highly recommend Red Wrench Plumbing. Sean is very reliable, responsive, communicative and easy to work with. He worked tirelessly for 5 hours installing new fixtures into an old antique marble sink and a shower enclosure into a claw foot tub. He is a tenacious plumber who will take the time to solve the problems that are inherent in old houses. I would not call anyone else!
Sean from Red Wrench replaced the broken drain assembly on my bathroom sink expediently and expertly. He arrived promptly and was very through. He checked out a few other plumbing issues after fixing my drain such as adjusting the hot water flow which was low and replacing the aerator on the faucet, free of charge, which made a huge improvement. I am very pleased with the service Sean delivered and would highly recommend using Red Wrench Plumbing.
I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I had to write one for Sean from Red Wrench plumbing. Our garbage disposal wasn't working, so I called Red Wrench. Sean called me back immediately and asked me to look for a red safety button at the bottom of the disposal, reset the button and try turning on the disposal. Voila! I really appreciate the responsiveness and the service; plus, when your plumber has a nice accent, it makes the whole experience delightful :)
Had a wonderful experience with Sean! We bought a garbage disposal to install, and quickly realized the project was beyond our scope. Sean responded promptly to my emails requesting his help, showed up on time, and did a wonderful job on the install! Our sink set up proved to be a bit tricky, and he handled it easily for a great price.

Excellent plumber, excellent service! Sean was able to locate the problem with my cold water filtration system immediately. He tightened the bolt overlooked by another plumber last month, stopped the leak and voila my cold water streamed from the faucet. Thanks Sean!

Let me set the scene: it's early December and we're prepping for an onslaught of family staying with us for a week during the holidays---8 people sharing one bathroom. So in preparation, I DIY replaced the cartridges on our shower's handles to improve the sensitivity of the hot/cold mix, and afterwards our shower became schizophrenic. The first shower would be tepid, the second shower scorching-hot. Water-pressure was minimal. We tried to adjust the hot+cold mix at the pipes, but it only made things worse.
It was driving us crazy, so we called Sean in desperation, assuming that the automatic pressure balancer was somehow to blame. Like a cancer---we wanted it out. Unfortunately it was installed in a very tight space, making the removal and replacement very very tricky. He had an opening early the next week (one day before our family was set to start arriving) and he went in there like a surgeon---removed the pressure balancer with an angle-grinder, patched the copper pipes, and... the temperature control was better but still the water pressure was still weak. Then he discovered one of the cartridges I'd replaced was faulty, so he replaced that as well---still no good. Like a detective on the scent of a crime, he didn't give up, finally narrowed down the water pressure issue to some debris clogging the showerhead. Like a comedy of errors, all these problems had combined to turn our shower into a nightmare.
My first shower after his work was a revelation! Full pressure like I'd never experienced before, complete control of temperature, just in time for our family to arrive. We never had any problem while they were there, and remarkably, no one complained of a shower that was too-cold or too-hot. Sean saved Christmas.

We run 8 businesses in San Francisco and Sean is our go-to maintenance/repairs/plumbing guy every time we have an issue. He always responds promptly to our calls (usually within a matter of minutes), and rarely do we have to wait more than a day for him to come service our restaurants/bars. He prices are fair, and his invoices are clear with no hidden fees. He is completely honest about what work needs to be done, and what is within his realm of expertise. Sean is an exceptional plumber. He is reliable, responsive, prompt, reasonably priced, extremely competent and also happens to be a really nice guy. I recently renovated my entire kitchen and Sean did all the plumbing work, including taking care of the permits. He moved my sink to a new location and provided separate shut-offs for each water line (hot & cold to sink, hot to DW and cold for icemaker in fridge). He also updated the gas connection to my range. The old valve used to come out into my kitchen cabinets, but Sean placed the new one neatly inside the wall. In short, he did an outstanding job and I highly recommend hiring Sean McGrillen of Red Wrench Plumbing.
Sean was most helpful in fixing a leaking hot water tap. He was on time and very patient with my questions. He's easy to work with and even showed me how to shut off the gas valves and light the pilot on the water heater for future reference. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again.

I highly recommend Sean! He comes when he says and his prices are very fair. He cares that he keeps his customers happy. Sean is reliable, incredibly knowledgeable, personable and fair. He is happy to explain what he is doing and why and wants to be sure you are satisfied. You can trust Sean. I even had a leak in my downstairs that others had quoted high prices for. Sean realized it was something he could fix in less than 30 minutes from my upstairs tub. He did and it has never leaked again. I am sure this saved me hundreds of dollars the other plumbers wanted to charge me and they likely would not have fixed the problem. What more can you want in a plumber? Use Sean I say!

they are fast, clean, honest, the people you wanna call when your leaking problems are getting out of hand. They have done work in our home for the past 3 years.
