I e-mailed Edgar this morning about rust appearing on my indoor pipes.
Edgar was not only informative on his reply to my problem but responded in a timely manner which relieved my anxiety.

When the time comes when I need plumber repair, I will definitely call Pipe Arts Plumbing.

Edgar came to install an under the counter water filter system for us.  He was timely, got straight to work and was clearly knowledgeable in his craft.  He did a great job efficiently and we would easily hire him again.  He made sure to clean everything up before leaving and charged a fair price.

This was the most efficient and quality  experience in major. Water heater replacement.  Although nine years ago this same plumber, Edgar, replaced another water heater for our duplex home so glad I remembered the name of the company.
Did excellent work and cleaned the area.  Also had to replace a water valve .  Gave me advice on how to avoid the water drainage situation in future.
I give you  my most hearty recommendation.
Excellent quality work at reasonable price.

Pipe Arts (Edgar) found and repaired a few pipe leaks in our house 8 years ago.  We had a wet spot show up on the ceiling and we contacted Edgar again.  He was able to come out and take a look at it.  He found that a vent pipe was broken and that the wetness was caused by condensation.  He had the parts available and was able to fix the problem quickly.

I highly recommend Pipe Arts/Edgar and will definitely be contacting him if I have any more pipe concerns.

I finally got around to replacing my kitchen sink faucet with a heavy duty Commercial Appaso pre-rinse sprayer/faucet combo I found on Amazon for $190.00.  I initially thought maybe I could DYI but I quickly realized my plumbing skills left much to be desired. My neighbors Yuko & David had recently had a plumber work on their place & loved the work that Edgar, owner of Pipe Arts, provided. On their recommendation I called him & set up an appt. last week. He came yesterday at 2pm quoted his hourly rate ($145.00) said it looked like an hour would suffice. He left at 3pm & my kick ass new unit is up & running.  Fast efficient friendly professional. Highly recommended!!

The technician / owner came to my property attempted to fix a water pipe leak, I asked him what his repair process was prior to starting, he responded with why do I need to know? I said, it's my house, I would like to know what your procedure is, which part you're cutting and replacing so I have an understanding. He got mad and left.

It's like going into surgery, asking the surgeon what the procedure is, but instead of explaining to the client what part of my organ and replacing, he gets mad and leaves the surgery room.

Terrible attitude, no integrity, zero understanding of customer skills, put your money else where folks.

Response to owner's comment below: You do know you were recorded from my surveillance camera right? Same as your yelp quote where I agreed to your initial chomp change of $195, you want me to post the video with audio + chat transcript?

Apology and walking away? You're just wasting your own time boss, amateur business owner...

Edgardo arrived exactly on time, suitably masked.   He was polite and friendly.  The job -- installing an under-counter water filter plus new faucet -- was not that complicated, and he completed it in under the hour.

When our water heater finally goes, Edgardo will be the one to call.

I have used Pipe Arts several times now, as have friends of mine. We have found Mr. Amaya to be friendly, efficient, reasonable and down to earth. I couldn't be happier with the assistance he has given me every time he has come. I especially appreciated this last job he did for me, a broken hot water heater. Mr. Amaya came out on a Friday night, after working elsewhere,  so that we wouldn't have to go through another weekend with no hot water. I highly recommend Pipe Arts and will hire Mr. Amaya for all my plumbing issues!

Did a fantastic job replacing an old tankless water heater. Often you're concerned about what you don't know when doing a job like this, Edguardo was patient, professional and did a great job. His price was competitive and he arrived, did the job , cleaned up and was ready to leave. Super happy with this and wild use them again.

This review is long overdue. The only thing I can say is, thank goodness Edgar was faster at providing excellent service than I was at writing this review.

The night before Thanksgiving, with tons of food being prepared and lots of garbage to dispose of, I realized that our existing garbage disposal (the Ace Hardware brand - don't buy one) was leaking badly into the cabinet under the sink. Edgar returned my call almost immediately and was standing in my kitchen within an hour. He diagnosed a ruptured chamber in the disposal, and provided a perfectly reasonable free estimate for replacement and installation. He headed out to the hardware store on the one of the worst traffic nights of the year, came back with an In-Sink-Erator unit and efficiently completed the installation. The bill was actually LESS than his estimate, despite the amount of time he had spent in traffic.

Thanks, Edgar! Great job!

Had a leak from my shower that was dripping inside the walls and into the basement, and when I tried to fix it myself, found out someone had cemented the parts into place by accident. Took Edgar less than 2 hours to drill the whole thing out and replace it. He's nice & does great work, I'm saving Pipe Arts' number for the next time I need a plumber

I bought a home and discovered that I had two problems:

1. The sink water pressure was low.
2. I had someone from TaskRabbit move and install my reverse osmosis water filtration system from my old house to my new house and the job wasn't done correctly or completely.

Edgar came quickly and did an amazing job to fix both problems. If I ever have a plumbing issue again I will be sure to call on him.

Edgar has been coming to my rescue for all my plumbing emergencies and non-emergencies for quite some time. He's always prompt and prepared. Not only is Edgar a delightful man and a talented plumber, he's creative and artistic! I've never met a professional like Edgar who fixes things with the care and respect as if it were his own. He truly cares about doing the best work and saving customers' money. He's an honest human whom I trust, respect, and appreciate! Thank you, Edgar and Pipe Arts Plumbing for demonstrating pure genius. I wish I could clone you.

Just to add to all of these five star reviews, Edgar is awesome. A few years ago we bought a house that needed to have a whole sewage pump and tank replaced right after we moved in. It was kind of a nightmare. I called a bunch of plumbers, Edgar was the only one who seemed like he could actually do the job and gave me a reasonable bid. It was a lot of work but it went perfectly and Edgar was very easy to work with. The whole thing didn't seem like a big deal to him at all. We've have had 0 problems with it since then.

More recently, last month I needed a crushed water pipe fixed and a new water line installed under the house for a new fridge. The crawlspace under my house is really really small and scary. I would never ever go under there unless my life depended on it. I didn't know if the work was worth Edgar's time but he agreed to do it. He came out and did it in a few hours. He was super nice and did an awesome job. He's the only guy I would call if I have another plumbing job.

Edgar Amaya's name for his business Pipe Arts Plumbing is absolutely fitting: his pipe work is truly a work of art. He is an artist and this talent is evident in the superior design and aesthetic quality of his work.

Edgar also has an excellent work ethic, he is knowledgeable, takes pride in his work, plus he is prompt and completes a project on time, as scheduled. He is courteous, pleasant, with a great sense of humor!

Edgar just finished the re-piping of our whole house. The 100 year old galvanized iron water pipes were replaced with copper pipes. We now have clean water plus great water pressure throughout the house. We no longer have to shut off water elsewhere when someone starts showering in the bathroom!

Edgar was very patient and accommodating of our many requests and completed some additional plumbing work in the house as well. He also gave us his professional advice on future projects and we will definitely be using his services again.

Pipe Arts Plumbing and Edgar Amaya have our highest recommendation.

Updating my post (since deleted) from yesterday. I was able to reach Pipe Arts this morning, and quite wonderfully for me, he's going to be able to come and work on Christmas Day, which is the only day I have off (I don't celebrate). I am beyond happy, as we have some extremely pressing situations which need attention (not emergencies, just SUPER annoying!). I'll report back after his visit. I feel quite sure it will be a positive report.

Edgar is super capable, fair priced, honest ... exactly everything you want in a plumber. We've used him three times, for an install with follow up, for a quick fix, and for a difficult, old plumbing fix.

Now we have some more small issues. They just accumulate with an old house, right? It's a great feeling knowing that we can call Edgar, and not have to worry about it.

Edgar was fantastic.

He showed me how the last guy didn't even sweat the pipe all the way around. He wasn't being a jerk about it, just a heads up, this is what I found kinda thing. He was clean and efficient with his time. He had everything he needed on his truck so I wasn't paying him to go shopping which was a real savings. I don't know whether other guys just can't organize themselves or don't want a closed truck, or can't keep thieves out of it but I;m tired of paying massive amounts of money because they forgot something the first time. There's this special word called inventory that so many plumbers don't seem to have to heard of.

He was easy company, easy to work next to. He wasn't running his mouth about whatever or trying to jolly me along with patter to distract me from either paying attention to what he was doing or what I was doing.

You can tell when a guy has his trade dialed in and Edgar is a real master journeyman. He's easily worth every penny. You aren't going to get mickey moused around like some plumbers I know will do you, and you are going to get the job done right.

He's my favorite plumber.

The toilet in our back bathroom stopped flushing.  We tried unclogging it w/ a plunger and put dish soap in the bowl, all the things we usually do, but to no avail.  My diagnosis was that the mechanism was broken, based on the difference in the sound and the way the handle was working.  I called Michael Your Plumber and his outgoing message said the he'd not been well and while he's better, encouraged new customers to call a friend of his.  Established customers were invited to leave a message but the mailbox was full.  I like Michael a lot, so this worried me and I have to get in touch w/ him to see how he is.  But we needed our toilet fixed, so I checked Yelp and found Pipe Arts.

I called Sunday evening and left a message.  The next day I received a call back and we scheduled an appointment for Edgar to come out between 5:30 and 6:00 the following day.  He and his helper came out at 4:30 yesterday, an hour early, which we really appreciated.  They took a look at the toilet and the diagnosis was a blockage, not a malfunction, although he did notice that the flap was worn and replaced it w/o charge.  They snaked it and it resumed functioning.  Edgar advised that there were calcium buildups in the pipes and recommended either getting a hydrochloric acid cleaner or replacing the toilet.  He described how to use the cleaner and where to get it and we will do that.  The toilet is a Toto and only about 6 1/2 years old, too new and too expensive to be replaced.  My first loyalty remains to Michael, but if he's not available and I need a plumber, I will definitely call Edgar at Pipe Arts.

This is going to be first in my list of plumbers that we dealt with this last week during a huge fiasco involving no hot water and varying estimates ranging from 0 to $900+ to get it back.

Edgar from Pipe Arts is top notch. When he pulled a blackberry out of his shirt pocket instead of a battered notepad, I knew we were in good hands.

Not only did he come out same day when I explained the situation, but he showed up with a very professional truck and assistant. They wore gloves while taking apart the burner assembly from my water heater, kept their workspace neat, and even created a tool to assist in the TLC our water heater needed.
His detective work extended to CLIMBING ONTO THE ROOF to investigate the exhaust pipe- which he discovered was incorrectly capped (not a surprise) and it was not providing proper suction to remove all that pesky CO2 from our house. (!!!)
I have the parts ordered with expedited delivery and our hot water is working for now, and we can't wait to have Edgar and his team back this week to complete the repair.

They also took the extra time to fix a botched job in our shower that was causing a very annoying and wasteful drip....drip....drip. Looking at his website and pictures I can solidly say that our needs were probably a little less fancy than what he usually handles, but it didn't seem to be an issue. I'd love to have him do some fancier work in our bathroom later this year.

In any case, this whole situation was a nightmare and we were so relieved when we got such straight answers and solutions from him. Being home repair newbs, it's so relieving to have someone like Edgar on your side. Worth every penny. And we got to pay with our Amex using PayPal!!

And off topic, but dude, Edgar is cuuute. I'm just sayin'.

Edgar Amaya has done a few jobs at my place, from a sink installation that was botched by another plumber, to a water line to my icemaker while he was doing that job, to a hot water heater replacement.  Edgar is trustworthy, on-time, and his prices are fair.  I wish good plumbers were cheaper, but take it from me - if you cheap out on the first job, you'll regret it later.

I found out about Edgar from a plumbing supply place in Berkeley on San Pablo (can't recall the name offhand) when I was asking for help finding a part for my made-in-Oakland bathroom sink part from sunrisespecialty.com/sun… .  I needed help fixing the initial botched installation too, and Edgar did the job right.

And like all good plumbers, he's got a sense of humor. ;-)

My wife and I are in the middle of a kitchen and laundry room remodel.  Our water heater stopped working a few days ago when we had to move it outside to get new flooring installed, and then back again later.  Our contractor George Takash took a look, got on the horn with American Water Heater Company and got them to send a new Thermal Coupling Unit out to us.  Days and much frustration went by waiting for the part to arrive in the mail, only to find that replacing that part didn't solve the problem.

That's when we spied Edgar and his Pipe Arts Plumbing truck across the street, working on another job.  Edgar was nice enough to come over without an appointment once that job was done.  He assessed our situation and came to a diagnosis and cost estimate quickly:  we needed a new control module.

Edgar saved us even more time without hot water by offering to install the control module he had with him in his van.  We will get a replacement control module from American Water Heater (our water heater is under warranty still) and give that to Edgar when it arrives.

Once the go-ahead was given, Edgar did a quick and expert job, checked his work, and was done.   The whole experience was wonderful.  Thanks for your help, Edgar!

Edgar showed up on time to bid the work, arrived when he said he would to start the work and completed it for exactly the price he quoted.  His work was beautiful (if you appreciate such things) and he's very professional and pleasant.

His pricing is competitive with other plumbers of his talent and quality, but he's not the cheapest guy in town.  I've just got to say that he's worth every penny!  We wanted a plumber to work on our old house who would put in quality work to last us another 70 years and Edgar delivered.

I first met Edgar in 2004, the day after I moved into my house in Oakland. The first night in my new house I could smell something bad, and I started calling around for plumbers the next morning. Edgar showed up in his immaculate disposal jumpsuit with an equally immaculate van, and 2 hours later, he had found and repaired the problem -- a sloppy joint that had been cut a little short and had slipped loose behind a bathroom wall. He didn't just fix the leak, he cleaned up the mess. What a pro!

So of course I called Edgar when I started my kitchen remodel. He did a most fabulous job and always left my house cleaner than he found it. His bid was reasonable, he showed up every time on time, and even came a couple of times when my other subcontractors needed help to get everything installed. The perfect plumber.

In the years since, he's done some other major plumbing art work in my home, including installing new Toto toilets (yay!) and replacing the pump in the sewer exhaust tank (major major headache).  I can't say enough good things about Edgar and crew! He's a total plumbing rock star!

Everything you read about this company is true, Edgar is the real deal.  We had dueling leaks under the kitchen sink shortly after installing a new garbage disposal.  My solution was to prop the drooping pipework with a tall can of Lysol and two pieces of 2 x 4.  Sort of worked, but still some leaking.  Finally decided to get it fixed before the leak ruined the cabinet.  Checked Yelp, picked Pipe Arts...perfect.

Edgar & his partner were in and out in an hour flat.  Completely reconfigured the pipes under the sink to what they should have been.  Tidy work.  He liked our dog.  Like I say, perfect.  He even had enough time to fix a toilet that ran intermittently and had defied many attempts by me & others to troubleshoot & repair.

We have found our plumber for life.  Thanks Edgar!

Our old water tank had been leaking and we had not discovered the leak for a while. I called Pipe Arts to come and determine the best set of next steps to pursue. Edgar was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. I thought he was expert and had much experience in his art. The first thing he did was drain the full tank so it didn't completely leak all over our house and cause further damage. This occurred during the initial consultation without payment. He had the tools in his truck and helped us out asap. I typically do not elect to go with lowest bid for a job but this time, I was confident after reading all the other Yelp reviews. His recommendations for a tankless heater to replace our traditional one was spot on. His pricing was great. As luck would have it, the unit mailed from Rinnai factory was missing an essential part. Edgar immediately called the factory to remedy the situation. He also stuck with us through all our questions after installation and made multiple trips back to our home to make sure things were working smoothly.
I definitely recommend his work. Very reliable and knowledgeable. And very responsive.i

pipe arts plumbing completed a bathroom remodel for me that consisted of the following: moving a sink and toilet to a different spot in the space, converting a tub into a  shower ... Edgar Amaya of Pipe Arts repaired some leaks and replaced some seriously defunct pipes in our 1920's-era building-- including replacing a chunk of sidewalk. We've been singing his praises from start to finish. We found him to be responsive, conscientious, professional, and pleasant to work with.

We particularly appreciated that:

* When he first viewed the job to make an estimate, he clearly specified for us those areas that required immediate attention and those that are in adequate working condition.
* On the day of the job, he and his assistant arrived precisely on time, with the needed City permit in hand.
* They worked quickly and neatly. Cleanup was impeccable.
* Mr. Amaya fully explained everything that we needed to know about the job.

And in addition to all that, we considered his fee to be very reasonable.

Edgar has been out to my house four times in the last year:  once to troubleshoot a toilet, once to fix a tenant-discovered leak while I was on vacation, once to install a dishwasher, and today to install a hot water heater.  I'm a retired general contractor and have been around more than a fair share of incompetent tradespeople.  This guy, Edgar, knows his shit.  He is an absolute pleasure to deal with.  5 stars all the way.

I called and needed a toilet unclogged on a Friday and they said they couldn't come until Monday.  Not sure if there is anyone out there that could wait three days to use the toilet or have that situation sit for that long.  Then, when I asked for a recommendation they told me to go to Yelp! Guess they didn't think this was poor service and I would write a review.  Oh well

Wow! I am so impressed and would recommend this company in a heartbeat. I thought I had a drainage problem that turned out to be an appliance issue and not a plumbing issue, but Edgar took the time to make sure nothing was wrong and then didn't even charge me!! Not to mention I priced estimates against other highly-ranked places on Yelp and his estimate was the lowest. I will gladly call back next time I have an (actual) plumbing problem.

Edgar is the real deal. He installed a new tankless hot water heater for us last week, and we could not be happier with his professionalism and his craftsmanship. We called 5 plumbers and he had the fairest price of all. He even managed to get us an upgraded model for the same price that he quoted us originally. And his invoice was exactly what he estimated on the bid (what a treat)! His demeanor is very calm and reassuring...we've had some people come to the house that have really stressed us out about the condition of our old pipes, etc. (our house was built in the 1920s), but to Edgar, everything is doable. Look no further if you're looking for a great plumber.

Right off the bat it should be obvious that anyone naming his plumbing service Pipe Arts Plumbing has to be a creative, talented guy.

When Edgar showed up at our house with his helper Juan, he proved to be not only artistic, but also completely knowledgeable of the plumbing craft.

Not only does Edgar quickly analyze and picture how to approach a plumbing problem, he works at a steady pace so he can accomplish all aspects of each discrete job quickly and expertly.

Edgar and Juan are responsible to a degree previously unseen among service and repair people coming in to work on our old fixer house. After I explained a health condition, prior to their arrival, Edgar and Juan took all measures to ensure they effectively only had a positive impact inside our house as they repaired the pipes. What a breath of fresh air...

My husband phoned Pipe Arts Plumbing after reading their plumbing reviews on yelp.com, so we're adding our thank you here for an up-and-coming business run with innovative thinking, clever (and cost-saving) problem-solving, as well as with good humor.

Edgar does top notch work at competitive prices and drives a really cool van too.  This guy's got it all.  I've called him to rescue me twice from impending disasters, and both times he's been there in a flash, done great work, and cleaned up after himself to boot.  He also restores vintage kitchen and bathroom features, I hear, but I haven't seen that work in person.  If his attention to detail in that arena matches what he does for a routine maintenance/repair job, I'm sure it'd be money well spent.  Thanks, Edgar!

UPDATE

We just had Edgar do another tough job for us: he installed a tankless hot water heater.

As usual, the work was impeccable -- now I know why he calls his business Pipe Arts, as he truly makes plumbing an art form.

Edgar came up with creative solutions that made this job cost HALF of what a competing plumber quoted us and spared us the hassle of running a new gas line, digging up the driveway, and lots of other messy stuff.  Moreover, before he did the work, we sent him a host of emails with lots and lots of questions.  Edgar wrote back to us quickly (we heart contractors who use email so frickin' much), offering thorough answers to our many questions.

As a plus, Edgar really knows the world of tankless water heaters.  He knew about different models and was able to make recommendations based on our usage and where it was going to be placed.  Just took the maiden voyage shower and it was plenty hot with nice strong water pressure.

Edgar is honest, trustworthy, and reliable -- traits that aren't always easy to find in a contractor.  We consider ourselves lucky and are happy to recommend him to family, friends, and the yelp community.

Edgar did a wonderful job on a fairly complicated job in our home.  He did all the plumbing to relocate the washer/dryer from our tiny kitchen to an upstairs closet.  He was reliable, neat, and professional.

Edgar is as meticulous as the other reviewers noted.  He definitely knows what he is doing in the world of plumbing.  Without blue prints (or x-ray) vision to tell him precisely where pipes and drain lines were, his intuition was excellent.  And when he encountered unexpected obstacles, he worked around them without a problem.  Moreover, he left our place cleaner than he found it!

Edgar is also very professional.  This was an expensive endeavor for us, and as such, we shopped around quite a bit for plumbers.  Edgar came out two separate times to talk through various options that we were considering in terms of where to put the washer/dryer.  In the end, we stuck with our original plan, but we definitely appreciated Edgar not griping about coming out twice to give us estimates.

Edgar is a meticulous craftsman. The tankless water heater installation he and his assistant did for me yesterday is a work of art. Of the six contractors I had bid on the job, he was the most reasonably priced while also understanding better than the others the particular challenges of my situation.

We bought an old home that the previous owner had done some not-so-good work on, in addition to various pipes just being old, corroding and leaking. Edgar was very responsive via phone, text & email (including taking calls and sending pictures while working under the house). He also had no problem re-working his bids when we decided to add a tankless water heater. He also was great at creating diagrams & plans for the City inspectors. Always on time. And best of all he cleaned up after himself and his crew so well that he ruined it for all subsequent contractors, who we judged to his standards.  Every other contractor who has worked on the house has left it dirtier than when they arrived.  Edgar actually cleaned up an old stained sink that wasn't even an item on his to-do list. AWESOME!

His hourly rate was among the highest of the people we solicited, but he's TOTALLY worth it.  He's fast yet thorough, does completely solid code-copmliant work, and pays attention to the aesthetics of his work.

Yup, yelp was right! Pipearts deserves it's great rating. Edgar came with his helper to fix a water line under the house (over the water)... what a good sport. He jumped on the barge, didn't flinch about the odd circumstance and made sure I was happy with all his work before he left. I wish every trade had a guy that good, reliable, and talented! Good job! Wasn't cheap, but he did what no other had done... we had at least three come out from the chin-see home warranty. No one else even tried to get the job done...way to go Edgar!@

Edgar and his crew are fabulous. We had a leak bust out between the meter and our house and they came out to fix it in a jiffy. I really appreciated not only the quality of their work but that they took extra measures to make the house access safe and tidy while the work was in progress (open trenches). Edgar's very kind and an all-around nice person to work with. It feels great to know we have someone reliable, highly skilled and trustworthy to have on hand for the next plumbing incident.

Edgar is top notch in every way. He has been over here for at least three jobs, and though busy always tries to help when there is an urgent matter. It's Sunday night and Edgar is here replacing my old, broken water heater. His work is stellar and he is always so professional. Thank you Edgar, you are a treasure!

If Superman was a plumber, I'm pretty sure I just found him. Edgar came by to fix a leaky copper pipe after hours. Earlier in the day I tried another plumber who tried 3 times to solder the pipe without success. That plumber said I needed a plumber with a special copper pipe crimping tool and left the pipe leakier than he found it such that my upstairs tenants we're going to be without hot water for the night.

So I found Pipe Arts on Yelp and called at 7:30pm. The proprietor, Edgar, sounded pretty confident over the phone but I was worried about being billed for a lot of work or work that couldn't be done without a special tool. Edgar reassured me that he wouldn't charge me if he couldn't get it done, so I only had to fear that it might take several hours to fix. Edgar got here and went straight to work. He properly assessed the issue and had a smart approach to completely draining the water from the pipe, which he said was a critical issue and it sounded like the previous plumber wasn't able to do. Then Edgar did a careful and thorough soldering job on every joint in the vicinity of the leak. After that we turned the water back on and viola: leak fixed! Hooray! It took him 45 minutes total. Fantastic! Brilliant! Superman exists and he drives a van with the Pipe Arts logo on the side. Thank you, Edgar!

(I haven't written a review on Yelp before but his work inspired me to do so.)

Edgar and his assistant do excellent quality work with a very satisfying outcome. Edgar provided the plumbing hook up for a new vanity in one of our bathrooms then installed the unit. Edgar has an eye for aesthetic detail. The plumbing hook up he provided is very clean and sleek. We are very happy with the outcome of his plumbing skill, attention to fine detail, and the reasonable rate that he billed us for the work.
In the meantime, Edgar and his assistant just completed another more recent plumbing project for us -- fixing a leaky shower drain with very difficult access to the drain fixture. He was able to very cleverly swap in a new drain in a relatively short amount of time thus sparing us the great expense of having to remove or replace the shower pan. He's a very creative and quick problem solver and did the work in a very timely manner. And he's very punctual to boot.

Pipe Arts for life!
Edgar is punctual, a true professional, quick, and worth every penny. Other professionals who have worked in our house have commented on how skillfully his work was done.
Let me explain:
We had a tough job which required running new pipes in a small space. I would imagine other plumbers not even wanting to deal with it, but he did. He installed a sink, a wall hung toilet tank, and bowl, and made sure all of them worked. Part of the job required him to build a copper drain pipe (from the toilet tank to the bowl) on sight, and so I decided to try and match my sink faucet to the pipe. Even though my faucet looks totally out of place (no one ever told me oil rubbed bronze is code for black metal!) Edgar took the time to try and match all of the valves, even the p trap! He didn't have the trap in his truck, so he installed a chrome one, so we could excitedly use our new sink, and then searched on line to fine a bronze looking one. Once the new trap arrived, he came and installed it. That's attention to detail!

I had high hopes for this plumber but when he called me this morning and told me I was out of his area but he would still do my sink and faucet installation, he then told me he would have to charge me travel time. He also told me he might have to cut my granite counter top to make it larger for the stainless steel sink. This horrifed me. Sorry Pipe Art but we aren't going to be seeing you for our project.

Big thanks to Pipe Arts for coming over on the same day as I called to take a look at my water heater.  It was pumping out CO so badly that our eyes stung when we got out of bed to shut off the CO detector alarm.   The fire department and PG&E both showed up and turned off the gas and disconnected the hot water heater until it could be repaired or replaced.  So happy that Pipe Arts was able to fix it the same day and save us some money.  Also, love that they were neat and cleaned up after themselves.  Very professional.

When East Bay MUD shut off our water yesterday, to fix a broken pipe in the street, we thought nothing of it. However, 8 hours later when we came home, and we still had no water in the kitchen [and a weak flow in the bathroom], we called them and they said that the water had been turned back on...Oh really??...that's funny, because we have no water??
...After sending out a 'night crew', they assessed that we had 'clogged pipes from dirt, mud, etc,' that must have gotten into our pipes during the 'turnoff to turn-on' but, ...[get this!!] that they were not in the plumbing business and couldn't fix the problems we had!!....'File a claim',  they told us......how wonderful and what a Bloody Headache !!
We then called our Home Warranty company, who said no, they wouldn't cover this since East Bay MUD had caused the problem, they should fix the problem!!... [my feelings exactly!!.....but that wasn't goin happen!!]
Enter, Edgar... After I went to 'Yelp' [that God for Yelp!!],and saw all 'his stars'...I immediately called him... He came out that evening with his helper, and within 50 minutes, had water coming out of all the faucets, plus fixing the 'running toilet' sound created by the clog...
He was amazing... very nice, clean and efficient... I even sent him over to my neighbor across the street, who was also having problems from the water being turned off ~muddy water coming thru his pipes, yipes!!]...
Thank you Edgar, and helper......you turned a big headache into a smile!

Outstanding! So happy I found these guys. They were the consummate professionals: on time, thorough, and very reasonably priced. The owner Edgar obviously takes a lot of pride in his work and the level of professionalism of his business. I knew when he asked questions on the phone that he was already at work assessing the problem and trying to solve it. Every business should be run this way! Thanks Pipe Arts Plumbing and safe travels!

We had a great experience with Edgar and the crew; we dealt with Edgar on the phone and by email to set up an appointment to install an automatic shutoff valve for our gas line (after the recent quake, can't be too careful!) Edgar responded quickly to both phone messages and emails, told us what we'd need to have installed to reach the goals we wanted, and then arranged for a crew to come out and take care of it within a few days. When the crew came out, they did the work quickly, cleaned up when they were done and even came inside to relight our pilot light without being asked! Will definitely use Pipe Arts again the next time we have a plumbing job to do. We've worked with a lot of contractors in the last year and they are great.

It is no surprise to me that I see Edgar rated so well on yelp.

Edgar did extensive work for us last year on a re-modeling project including:
- power vented hot water heater install
- all new plumbing to kitchen
- all new plumbing to new laundry room and new bathroom
- new sewer lines to replace and add to the old
- new gas lines to appliances and heaters
- a hydronic heating unit

He was professional, yet friendly and personable, flexible with changes of plans, consistently on target with estimates of time and cost, reasonably priced for the impressive quality of work done, and quick to return calls or emails.  And somehow, despite doing lots of 'dirty work' he somehow stayed meticulously clean and almost pressed through it all.

Several times when we had the city in for non-plumbing inspections (framing, insulation, electrical, whatever) they took note of the plumbing and said 'wow, thats nice plumbing work'. All of his work passed muster on the first inspection.

Along the way he had time to get to know the kids, philosophize about life, fix some other odds and ends on the side, swap travel stories, and even offer advice and the use of some of his tools on some other projects I was working on when he was there.

Unless he retires, I will never call another plumber again.

Edgar was an absolute pro and I recommend him to anyone. I had a leak in my main waterline in the crawl space beneath my house. He gave me a clear best/worst case scenario just from my description and pictures. He was there right on time, did the job well and under budget, and even looked at my hot water heater and pointed out some missing retrofit issues I can fix in my own. Throughout he had excellent communication and clearly is a capable professional. Thanks Edgar!

I cannot say enough good things about the work Edgar and his assistant have done! My wife and I just bought a home that needed some plumbing work. Edgar was easy to get in touch with and came out to fix one smaller item (replacement of an S-trap with a P-trap under the kitchen sink) and to give us an estimate on the rest of what needed to be done. His work the first time was excellent, and he just finished the second, larger job of installing a new toilet, replacing a faucet, and getting our water heater up to the standards of the city inspector. All of the work was done in a timely fashion, with care and attention to detail. Where there were items that came up that weren't in the initial scope of the estimate, he informed me of what the issue was and the additional time and parts needed - and he had all the parts on hand. I'm certainly not looking forward to my next plumbing issue, but at least I know who I'll be calling!

Edgar came out promptly, was even 15 minutes early.

He checked what was wrong with my situation and informed me it was not a plumbing issue. He was curteous, knowledgeble and friendly.

I would definitely call them again if I have another plumbing-related issue and would recommend him and his company to others I know when they have plumbing problems!

As a result of these reveiws I called Edgar this afternoon because our regular plumber could not come until next week. Edgar is now our new plumber! He came this evening after his day full of jobs to unclog a garbage disposal so that we could have full use of our kitchen sinks over the Easter weekend. The price was fair and his service was excellent.

Looking for an outstanding plumber? Edgar Amaya who owns and operates Pipe Arts Plumbing is just such a plumber. He recently completed installing an extended gas line from the meter to my kitchen. It  was not an easy job as he had to crawl through very tight spots in the attic in order to run the line. His attention to details is reflected in the quality job he did and in the way he cleaned up after he completed the job. When the city inspector came to sign off on the job he was full of compliments about the excellent job Edgar had done. I know I will call him again for other plumbing jobs. Liz C.

Edgar is just great.  I called to have him put in a new water shut off valve to our home.  Considering that I was told by others that my planter bed would have to be knocked down to access it and put in a new one, Edgar - dismissed that theory in seconds, did a great job, is very friendly and seems like a good guy too.  In just over one hour the job was complete. He is  number one plumber on my list now.

Pipe Arts Plumbing solved a difficult problem and saved a ton of money for us. Edgar was the fourth plumber to tackle our low hot water pressure issue.
The first company (also highly recommended on Yelp) flushed the lines, but then recommended replacing our 6 year old water heater when the flushing did not have the desired effect. After reviewing the water heater manual, I opted for a second opinion. The second plumber noted differences in pipe diameters in our system and recommended another round of re-piping. The 3rd plumber arrived on a Friday afternoon and told us that he didn't do troubleshooting, but had a friend (another company ) that could.  I had selected this third company on the basis of specific reviews in Yelp with solutions to issues like ours.
I then called Pipe Arts in some desperation, as it was now late afternoon on Friday, and I faced the specter of a weekend without hot water. Edgar showed up after hours and fixed the problem in less than one hour. The cause of the problem was a stuck/clogged backflush valve which is not noted in the manual and takes a special trick to remove. Edgar's expertise saved us the cost of a brand new water heater, which is working fine now. I also would like to commend him on his web page- best plumbing jokes I've ever heard! I will call him first for any future plumbing needs.

If it were 10 stars - he'd get those! Yelp is the best...it led us to Edgar at Pipe Arts Plumbing. Look no further if you need a plumber!  I just had Pipe Arts fix two plumbing problems I had at home today.  I have had 3 other plumbers come to my house over the past 6 years for various problems but this is the first one I know I will call back.  Very clean, neat, professional and efficient.  I ended up getting 2 things fixed for the price of one! Very quickly as well.  You would be making a huge mistake calling another plumber and you will not go wrong with Pipe Arts. Just look at his 5 star ratings. Ratings do not lie!!!  I can finally not worry about plumbing issues because now I know I will get good service at a really good price!

A friend of mine who is a licensed contractor recommended Edgar when we bought our house - he said he never got call-backs with Edgar's work.  We hired him to install new plumbing and fixtures for a bathroom remodel and replace most of our galzanized steel supply lines with copper lines.  That was around a year ago, and since then we have had him back to add a gas line for a new furnace, install a dishwasher, and replace a waste line I broke trying to install a new kitchen sink.  I have also called him a few times for advice on projects I wanted to take on myself.  He is honest, organized, helpful, and shows up when he says he will.  His prices are reasonable and he does top-quality work, as far as I can tell.  The one time we had a small leak after he installed a new sink, he came back either the day we called or the day after and fixed it - and it has stayed fixed.  He also cracks me up - I know a lot of plumbers and have yet to meet another one who manages to look like Mr. GQ after crawling around under your house to install a toilet and goes out for sushi at lunch.  What more do you need to know?

ok.  no one ever hires a plumber for a happy reason.  i was no exception.  i looked for 4 bids.  two guys showed up, and only one guy ever came up a written price.  surprisingly enough it was EDGAR.  i used him for a big job.  re-pipe my entire house to copper, and update it with a tankless heater.  his written bid was good ( i do this for a living).  there were some missing details, but simple email questions cleared up the unknowns.  he actually took care of a few while your in there's, and finished up a day ahead of schedule!  when you are living with your mother-in-law in order to take a shower during construction, this is a very good thing.  i dont think he was the most economical way to go, but DAMN he is anal.  i think my system will last decades.  and if you factor that in, the price was fantastic.  he will be back in a few days, to do some other piping work.  i like him that much.  oh yea, i couldnt babysit him.  i just gave him a key and he came and went unsupervised.  i got the good vibe from him and his staff right away.
