Petre and his son, Iva, just installed an electric car charger at our home and they did a great job. They arrived on time and worked carefully and quietly. When  all was done the work area was clean and neat and the charger is up and running. Thank you Petre and Ivo!

Petre is my go-to electrician. I just used him again recently and once again he is phenomenal. He is able to do very advanced things that most electricians are not qualified to do. Ever wondered how to get your pool light changed? No, you don't have to drain your pool. You just have to call Petre.
He does great work, charges an affordable price, is great at troubleshooting confusing electrical situations, and shows up and gets work done in a timely manner. In addition he is very nice and extremely funny. I was bursting out laughing at many things he said.

We are first time homeowners and still learning unfortunately, but we definitely got overcharged in a couple ways. He is based in Sausalito and charged $80 for the travel, we are about 11 mins away in Mill Valley. Then, brought a second person for what I am pretty sure was definitely a 1 person job. I googled what they fixed (afterwards of course) and it should only have taken 15 mins per new GFCI outlet (so definitely under an hour). So he charged $160 x 2 (for 2 people) and $80 for travel time for a 1 hour job. They were nice and I am grateful for their work but pretty bummed with this charge. Better luck next time I guess.

I met Petre when he did emergency electrical work at my building and he was so precise and fast that years later, I hired him to upgrade my electrical panel and add GFCI outlets in my condo. He and his son are so organized and do excellent work. They not only upgraded but made suggestions to better operations and are tidy workers. I will certainly hire him again!

I hired Petre and his son to upgrade our electric box when we recently purchased our home in Tamalpais Valley. He was honest, clear on expectations and quick to deal with in the estimate. When we hired him, his son and him set clear expectations of time and cost, they showed up early and finished the job just as they described.

They were nice to have around and easy to talk to. We ended up hiring them again for another electrical job running a new wire and plan to do so for any other jobs we have.

I can't recommend them enough for upgrades and renovations as they did a fantastic job with our home.

We've had Petre do a couple of jobs for always and have always really loved his work, but this time around he was simply amazing. After the transformer in our block had a surge and had to be fixed by PG&E, we started experiencing recurrent power surges that were constantly tripping our breakers and even damaged a few of our appliances. After we decided we had had enough, I reached out to Petre and he and his son were able to come the very next day.

After some discussion about what was happening, they were able to figure out the problem right away and fix it within a few hours. While they were there, they went ahead and put in an outlet in the basement for a fridge, and swapped out the old dimmable light switches that weren't working well, which I had been wanting to do for a year.

The work was great, but what really makes Petre phenomenal is his responsiveness, professionalism, communication, and ability to explain everything he does. With him I always feel informed and I am left with a much better sense of the electrical workings of our home. Highly recommended!!

I called Petre to get a GFCI outlet installed in order to outfit my toilet with a Toto bidet.   Petre and his son did great work for us, even while we were sheltering in place.  When I first called Petre, he made an appointment to see the job that evening.  He came in a timely manner and was very well-mannered in explaining what was required and gave us a fair quote.  On the appointed day, he came with his son and they did a quick and efficient job.  We were very pleased with their professionalism.  My only complaint is that I wasn't consulted on exactly where I wanted my GFCI installed.  It would've been nice if the outlet was hidden from view.  

The photo shows how it could've been more discreet.  We're happy with our new luxe throne and look forward to minimizing our use of the elusive teepee.  In any case, we're thankful we found Petre and are inviting him back for another project.

Petre and son were fantastic, took a look at our old and dangerous electrical boxes in the basement and replaced everything. A complex job done in less than two days with only one day of our power being off. And, they were so thoughtful to make sure our power was back on for the evening. Our fuse box is now safe, properly grounded, and meets SF's building code. I appreciated that Petre was willing to talk me through an explanation of all the work and the reasons for it!

Peter did an amazing job installing a RING Webcam in our patio. We've hired him before to install a chandelier in our living room. He is a professional,, responsive and efficient electrician, and his fee is very reasonable. My husband and I highly recommend him!

Petre was able to fit us in for a day of appointment when our tenants power started randomly going out in different rooms. Replaced two breakers, power restored, day saved. He was responsive and easy to work with. Competitive pricing in the Marin area. Thank you!

Was quoted $275 for installation of outlet for power & HDMI cables above fireplace (including running wires/cables in wall to outlets above fireplace). Petre said he would do the installation of the tv mount there too for maybe 300-400 more. Petre & another guy showed up and worked on both jobs at the same time. After they were done Petre says it took longer than expected, extra costs for two persons working on the job (even though it was the same two guys at the house the previous day to estimate the work needed for the job) and all of a sudden we owed $1120 without any prior warning. Nearly double the original estimate!

We also went to home depot the night before to pick up supplies he said they needed to do the job as well, which was additional expense to the inflated bill.

Afterwards he claimed the higher bill was because the tv mount was larger than others he had installed before but the labor time for the tv mounting was very quick compared to the time they had taken drilling holes through the studs in the wall. Drilling to wire in wall should be something they would be experienced with & was a necessary part of the electrical work that was needed for this job. A lot of other time was used up by him looking & discussing other jobs he could do in the house including replacing light switches, main / sub panels etc, so it definitely wasn't all active labor either, but rather discussing several potential future work to be done by him.

We even told him not to worry about the other side of the wall facing the garage in order to make the job easier and quicker for them (in additional to providing a ladder and additional light that they needed to finish the job but weren't prepared to have themselves), but even after that, the bill was nearly twice the estimate. And the multiple large holes on the other side of the wall still remain...

We also had Petre give estimates on a lot of other electrical work needed to be done on our two properties which totaled over 6k (including 2 new panels & replacing old wiring, recessed lighting, outdoor lighting etc) but we no longer want to use him again because of the grossly inflated bill for this small job.

After voicing our displeasure that the bill was nearly twice the estimate, Petre did not honor his original estimate, but rather said he would only credit us $300 for any additional job IF we used him again. We told him that it was not going to happen based on the very bad experience we had AND his refusal on making this experience any better without trying to tie multiple large additional jobs to the original quote he had given.

Will be looking for a new electrician

Got a quote from 4 electricians in the area for a easy to quote job so the quote was apples and apples.  Petre gave an estimate that was easily 3 times higher than the other three.

Some time ago Petre came out to my house to fix the outlet under my kitchen sink which was not working.  He was very friendly and spent many hours at my house (and crawling around under it) but was not able to get the outlet working.  He then tried to charge me over $400!  When I pointed out that the problem was not fixed he was adamant that he should be paid for his hours.  I'll admit it was partly my fault for not getting clear at the get go about the hours spent vs. job being completed but was surprised that he would try and charge me that much when nothing was actually done.  Since he had spent so much time at my house and was friendly I foolishly paid him $250.  

Some time later I hired another electrician to take a look at the problem and they had it fixed within 10 minutes as it was a simple breaker issue (he didn't want to charge me anything but I insisted he take $40).

He answered texts and phone calls quickly and took time out of his busy schedule to quickly complete a job.   Excellent work, honest, and reliable!  Also, an extremely educated, and, good guy :)

I have used Petre three separate times at my house in San Francisco. That in itself indicates the faith and confidence I have in Petre. I first met him when he did electrical work for the company at which I worked in San Francisco. Petre is an electrical engineer by training, and is also a lighting expert (which he helped me with on an a previous job). My house is 90 years old, and not the easiest place in which to work. The most recent job involved trouble-shooting a short circuit I had in my outdoor patio lighting, installing a Nest thermostat on a 70-year-old furnace, and installing an electrical outlet in a closet so I can charge my cordless vacuum. All of these projects sound easy, but they were not. I was home while he worked and saw first-hand the difficulty of completing these projects. It was not easy, but he figured it out, solved the problems, and got it done. Petre is my go-to electrician, and I will definitely use him for every electrical job I have. I recommend him highly!

I've used Petre for everything from installing light fixtures to setting up my generator.  He's excellent plus prompt and courteous.  He's also a great communicator and explains everything clearly.  His son Evo is also a delight.  He has done cables for electric cars for two friends and they've been very pleased.  The best electrician  I've ever found!

Petre was awesome.  We had a tight timeline and had to get an electric panel upgrading and brought up to code.  Petre showed on up time and did the necessary work over 2 days.  He is very knowledgeable, fast and efficient.  The work he did was very professional.  Once he finished, he and his crew cleaned up and even did a little extra work on the water heater.  The electrical inspector was very pleased with the work he did and signed off immediately.  I would recommend Petre for any of your electrical work!

Peter came over to fix our garbage disposal problem and on his way out we had him take a quick look at our electrical box outside, which was leaking. Thank goodness we did because it was a possible fire waiting to happen! He turned off our box to ensure we stayed safe until he could come back the following morning with the appropriate tools. He had other appointments but because our situation was high risk, he prioritized and fixed the problem right away. He's very professional and was on time for both appointments, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend Petre!

Petre upgraded our electrical service and installed our car charger.  First call to finished project took less than one week including estimate, ordering parts, and doing the work which took a little less than a day.  He was very responsive and came out and did an estimate quickly.  Everything went exactly as planned: great work, on time, and on budget.  Highly recommended, especially for other folks in Marin who are looking for a great local electrician.

Five years after contacting Petre the first time, I called him again (actually had to go back to my Yelp review to find his number).  He's still terrific.  Not only timely, efficient, and effective, but explained the problem to me and helped me get safer and more energy-efficient fixtures.  He remains our go-to electrician.

Petre and son did a good job installing back up generator.  Quick, good service and reasonable price.  Now all set if/when PG&E shuts down service.

I've had Petre work on my house many times over the last 12 years or so, and I'm always happy to have him back. He's fast, friendly, efficient, and always easy to work with.

My house is an old Victorian that's needed a lot of complicated remodeling, and Petre has always made easy work of jobs I thought would be much harder.

Petre and his son, Evo, are a very professional Team and they have performed multiple projects at my home over the past year including upgrading Main Service Panel breakers, replaced Sub Panels, upgrade Pool/Spa electrical equipment, install GFCIs, new exterior and interior conduit, and supporting future renovations.  So far, no project seems to large or small...even hanging new lamps and installing light switches! Petre is an electrical engineer who provides the licensed electrician services so you can't go wrong with his knowledge and experience.  He enjoys a challenge and figuring out simple solutions to complex problems. I have worked with many electricians and enjoy working with this friendly and professional father-son Team who clearly take great personal pride in each project.

I would give Petre ten stars if I could. He is highly skilled, professional, and a lovely person as well.  I called on a Sunday when the electricity in one part of my house stopped working.  He was kind enough to come an hour later, and stayed for 3.5 more when the problem became more complicated than he had anticipated.  He troubleshooted methodically and then efficiently repaired the issue, all while remaining positive and upbeat.  AND he did not charge extra for the weekend call; many electricians will charge 50% more for off-hours appointments.  His rates are incredibly reasonable.  I feel lucky to have found Petre, and I recommend him highly.

Petre came over to make a quote, he had a few hours so I put him to work. I saw his recommendations on our local Nextdoor and Yelp and all was true. He is very smart, creative and reasonable. His workmanship was excellent and he protected the areas where he was working, plus cleaned up after himself.

Petre showed up within a few hours on a Sunday afternoon to my house when everyone else I called would not be available to at least Monday. The house was newly purchased and the inspectors and seller had not found/disclosed all the electrical issues which Petre found and fixed over the course of two visits. Petre was very communicative, flexible and determined to find the electrical issues and set them right. He was a pleasure to work with and I'd recommend him to anyone with an old peculiar Bay Area home with mind boggling electrical issues.

Unlike them fancy bucks, this ol' cowboy don't pretend to know things I don't. I know cows, yup. Women, I reckon. Fancy electric do-dads n such, I leave it to a Petre. That good ol' boy is a straight shooter and knows more about electricity than I do about rollin' my own. If your mechanical bull is on the fritz, call him and he'll ride up in his wagon and set you straight.

Two of my outlets stopped working and I had to get them fixed ASAP. I found Petre here on yelp and ultimately went with him after calling a couple of other electricians simply because he was nicest. I called and told him what was happening and he said it sounded like a job that would take less than hour and that he could come the next day. He was caught up on a job and couldn't make it on time but it was fine because he was keeping me in the loop and it's the holiday season, so you gotta give a little slack. When he got to my house he figured out what was wrong in about five minutes and got to work. He needed to replace the outlet and said he had one in his truck and gave it to me, which was very nice. I'm new to owning a home and I had expressed that to him. He asked me if I wanted a little education on what the problem was and how to fix it and I reaaalllllyyyy appreciated that. He fixed everything in less than hour like he guessed he would.  After his visit I could sense that he is a very awesome, caring, hard-working man who also did a great job fixing my outlets. I will be using Petre every time I have an issue with the electricity.

Peter fixed a problem that my MIT graduate could not. He will be my first call in the future.

Had a breaker go bad last night and Petre came out this morning and replaced the breaker and an  GFCI outlet. Fast prompt service. We now have an electrician ! Glad we found him.

Found a recommendation for Petre on Nextdoor, looked him up here on Yelp, called him and he came by my place the next day. Needed a chandelier hung that was a bit complicated to setup with the old wiring and ceiling medallion in the way. Petre did an excellent job very efficiently. His prices were very reasonable and I couldn't be happier. He will be our new go to for any electrical work. He's a really nice guy and great to talk to which is an added bonus.

Petre is the Electrical Whisperer. We had a mystery circuit at my house that two different electricians and another contractor couldn't figure out with several hours of time invested; Petre figured it in under an hour, did the testing, and clearly explained the whole thing. This guy is a cut above.

Not pleased or satisfied with our most recent experience (we used Petre one time previously). We scheduled our appointment at 8:30 am. At 8:45 we are waiting and had not received a phone call or text. I sent text asking if he had correct address. Half hour later he and his son Evo arrive. No explanation or apology. We felt this was very unprofessional. They installed 3 items. We were not told that we should have purchased a CL dimmer switch for bathroom vanity light. We noticed that it flickers at the dim level we prefer to use in pm. I told Petre he should have informed us that this $30 dimmer switch would do that. If he had told us I could have returned it to Home Depot and purchased another one. Now it's too late to return and get refund so we are stuck with the flicker. We will not be using his services again. While he seems like a nice guy, he loves to talk and its difficult to break away from him. I prefer an electrician who comes on time and does a professional job without taking up my time

Petre and his son arrived promptly to install a new ceiling light fixture and re-wire a complicated set-up involving a bathroom vanity light, an exhaust fan and a heat lamp.  We wanted three separate switches, one of which would be a timer-switch for the heat lamp.  We had only a 2-switch outlet box.  Petre solved the problem with rewiring and half-height dimmer and switch along with the timer.  They adhered to their quote and did not mark up the cost of the new ceiling light box, bulbs and switches.  Like all workmen, best to get a fixed quote rather than time and materials. Capable electrician.

We have used Petre several time to do electrical work in our new home and as the previous reviews stated, Petre was punctual, friendly, and very competent. The last time we used him, we had a problem with only part of the house having electricity. He checked all the systems and concluded that all the systems were functional and then using a pair of binoculars he was able to diagnose the problem. The wire from the electrical pole outside our home seemed worn.  He recommended that we call PGE and tell them that he thought there might be a problem with the connection and his good detective work was correct. PGE came in the next day and indeed it was the connection that  Petre  predicted.

Petre is the BEST!  He's so honest and kind.  He installed a new ceiling fan for us and worked quickly and with great skill.  His hourly rate is more than reasonable.  I will absolutely hire him when we need more electrical help.

4:30 in the evening my bedroom smoke alarm started a low level screech.  I called our alarm company only to learn that they were gone for the day and couldn't help us until the next morning.  Desperate to get the problem addressed I searched Yelp for a highly rated electrician to come to our home and fix the problem.  I called Petre before 5:00 and he immediately agreed to redirect his drive home to come fix the problem.   Within 30 minutes of his arrival the problem was solved at a very reasonable cost.  What a great service he provided, he saved the day and allowed us to sleep in our own home that night.  Needless to say I give Petre the highest ratings, he is a very good and capable man.

I would highly recommend Petre as an electrician.  He came to my house in the morning, gave an estimate (for 4 recessed lights in my kitchen) and completed the work by that afternoon.  He started on the drywall patching and gave us recommendations for completing the drywall work.

I called Petre on a Sunday. Unlike the other 10+ electricians I called that day, Petre actually answered the phone. After I explained that both my fridge and stove were out because of an electrical issue, he said he would come to try to fix them that day. He arrived early Sunday evening (who does that!). It was a complicated situation and he resolved it after 2.5 hours. He was personable, professional, and knowledgeable (he has a background as an electrical engineer). In our initial conversation he told me what he charged for the first hour and then what his hourly rate was for every hour beyond that. He was true to his word on the cost. He is coming back to fix a small issue this week and I plan to use him in the future.

Petre and his son are a great team. Petre has been to our home a number of times and does great work. He responds quickly to initial requests, always follows through and most importantly, does high quality work. He's an electrical engineer by trade and is highly overqualified to do the small jobs that I have for him, but always does them to the highest standard. Highly recommend.

i was originally a little worried about the 1-star review he had.  However, he explained to me that the job was not a T&M but a fixed fee contract.  In that case, he was not lying.  FYI, I did test him on his honesty on the breaker he replaced for us.  He quoted exactly the same price as I could have purchased from Home Depot, without marking up.

My fiancee hired Petre via thumbtack based on good reviews and we were so pleased.  So nice and explained everything he was doing and why.  When we wanted to place an external light he recommended a way to do it that would prevent having to run an expensive long conduit, thus saving us lots of money.  As a female I can say I would have felt safe with him alone in my home were my fiancee not home.  I also felt respect from him, which I often don't get with contractors who are eager to explain things to the male of the household instead of me.  Furthermore he is an electrical engineer working as an electrician, it's like the honor of getting a brain surgeon to explain anatomy to you - so smart and thorough!  We will definitely be using him many times, although I hope we don't need to!  Instead I will recommend him to you!

we just had petre out to look at a circuit that was down. through his patience, thoroughness and attention to detail he was able to locate the problem and get it resolved, all with out having to open up walls which is what another electrician had wanted to do. he's knowledgable, charming and priced fairly. would highly recommend him.

Petre was prompt and responsive and professional in all dealings.  Had a number of electrical upgrades that we wanted to make to our house from moving and installing overhead chandeliers to installing a new recessed lighting system in a variety of different bedrooms.  Petre helped to guide us through the different options and his work was solid.  I especially liked his suggestions as to where to install the lights for best lighting and giving me an overview on the various technologies to choose from.  Will definitely be calling again for my next project!

Petre is a true professional and someone I would hire again in a heartbeat.  My first experience was during an emergency situation when our main circuit breaker blew.  Of course it happened over the weekend, however he didn't hesitate to come over and help assess the problem and get us back up and running as quickly as possible.  He then came over several weeks later to replace the inside circuit breaker panel and wiring which was very old and unsafe.  He did a great job explaining why it needed to be done and showing me the danger (sparking wires, etc).  Petre was hired through my landlord, but I was the one who had the most interaction with him.  He was knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and cleaned up when he finished the job!

I had Petre do both an LED TV Mounting and Cable Management.   He was on time, in great communication, helpful, and extra friendly.  I asked him to pick out the mount for me at Best Buy and he had no problem finding the right one for me as well.  I will definitely use him again when I need to and refer him to others.

Petre is an extremely competent and professional electrician. I haven't had him at my house multiple times to work on different projects. Some of them are fairly simple for a trained electrician. However, I'm writing this review to describe the sleuthing that he did this past week to help repair some damage that I had caused. In an effort to explore my own personal handyman skills, I attempted to replace a couple of light switches in my home. Everything seem to be going well until I in advertently shorted out some major circuitry that controlled a large part of my home. Petre came within hours of me calling. He was able to find the area where I had melted some wires. All of this was in the crawlspace under our house. Petre was tireless and his efforts to locate the damage. He repaired that, and then also proceeded to replace a sub panel that was the real cause of the incident. All the while, he communicated with me. I highly recommend him.

Petre is our go-to electrician for both our home and our 2 rental properties. He's quick to diagnose a problem and good at the follow-up. So far he's done the following repairs for us:  fixed light switch problems, fixed a light fixture which was not working,  and fixed a broken switch on a vent hood when the switch part had been discontinued.) Petre knows what he is doing for sure. Generally his rates are standard for a licensed electrician in the Bay. However I found our transaction unethical. Petre quoted me a fixed bid for labor 'plus materials.' When he presented the contract the 'materials' were an additional couple of hundred dollars to the labor. I asked him if I could see the receipts and he refused; we had a back and forth until finally he said 'well, I also charge you for my time to get them.' Meaning he inflated the cost of the materials.  I had no hot water at the time and he was ready to work, so I let it go. Oh and he also left a pile of drywall dust on my floor.

Experienced, reliable and affordable.   Petre was able to make time for my small project.

Friendly and efficient! Our apartment building had lights, the fire panel lights were all flashing and we needed someone fast. I found him on of the service pages and placed a service request. He called back soon and luckily he was available at 5pm (I live in San Francisco and turns out he is frequently in SF). He came, did some tests and fixed the problem in about 10 mins. But, he also found out a bunch of wiring problems with the existing breakers and the wires, explained why it led to the lights going out, and how it needs to be fixed. I would (and probably will) call him again.

Petre did a good job installing 2 chandeliers in my place. He was available given short notice. I live in a 100+ year old building and he was able to work with the gas issues. He worked with my building's shortcomings and they look great. He's personable and kind. I would definitely hire him again.

I had a chance meeting with Petre (pronounced Petter but calling him Peter is ok too ) at a Daly City yoga studio he was working on.  I asked him questions about the lights he was installing and got to know a little about him and his work.  
It has been YEARS since I wanted recessed lighting in my home but never had it done because I knew it was complicated to install lighting on a 14 feet tall ceiling.
Somehow after speaking to Petre that day, I just felt he had the knowledge and the experience to do my project.  He offered to visit my place and give me an estimate the day after.
I ended up having my dining room, extra loft area and living room lighting project done and was pleasantly surprised that Petre handled the difficult project with ease.
I was really relaxed because  he knew how to do his job very well.  He had the right tools and the right recommendations on what type of lighting and switches we should be using.  He gave suggestions and recommendations and made me decide for myself what was best.  This is a guy who really knows his lights.

I found Petre on Thumbtack, and he came to my apartment the very next day. I'd made a mess of my ceiling trying to find a stud to hang a projector from, and not only did he find a stud and hang my projector perfectly, but he even patched all the holes I'd drilled. Plus, I wasn't sure how to hang two of my speakers, and while he was working on the projector he sent me to the hardware store with detailed instructions on what brackets and screws to buy, and then hung the speakers for me too. He quoted me a very fair price over the phone, and then that's exactly what he charged me. I would definitely call him again.

Petre has done an excellent job on a series of electrical projects in our San Francisco home over the past two months.  We have had about 6 different electricians do projects on our home in the past, but I was unhappy with all of them...either they didn't show up when scheduled, couldn't troubleshoot effectively, didn't complete the job correctly or performed unnecessary work.  Petre is a trained engineer who worked for the electric utility company in Bulgaria.  He takes a thoughtful approach to finding the least-cost solution to a given problem.

If you're looking for a reliable, honest, professional, highly skilled and thoughtful electrician, you've found him in Petre.  We had an extremely challenging project:  we needed 27 ceiling cans replaced, as well as 4 added and our ceiling is wooden planks.  It's not easily repairable sheetrock.  Petre accepted the challenge and soldiered through, despite the fact that the space to insert the new lights was virtually impossible to navigate and the wires were a tangled mess.  He also installed new lutron switches and helped diagnose our winchester mystery house light switches that controlled nothing.  We now have consistent light throughout our living room, dining room and kitchen.  Petre is an electrical engineer and a very intelligent and creative problem solver.  I will call him again in a heartbeat when we are ready for our next project.  He is phenomenal.  I wish there was a rating higher than 5 stars.

Petre is a very knowledgeable, efficient, and fair electrician. He has helped us immensely in updating various electrical needs in our 1930's-era SF home - replacing old fuses and decommissioning old wall wiring; installing new lights according to my very detailed specifications; and updating our entire electrical service and breaker panel to bring them up to code. What a great guy.  At 3pm on a Saturday I powerwashed the front deck which somehow send a torrent of water into one of our walls and down into the main circuit panel in our basement. There were lots of sparks and a complete shutdown of the electrical system for the house. The next morning we were hosting our 8 year olds birthday.  Water and Electricity are above my fixit comfort zone and dying wasn't part of my plan so rather than tackle it myself I turned to Yelp and found Petre. He agreed to come over in 45 minutes, took apart the system and fixed all of the shorts while I stood with a hairdryer drying breaker switches. All on a Saturday. He was heroic. And he is a damn nice guy. Thanks Petre. The Birthday Party was a success.

Petre is a great electrician.  He installed a complicated outlet in our living room.   He is clearly on top of his game.    Great guy, too.

His work is fine, however, we had a serious misunderstanding over the final bill. Please make sure you are clear whether you are operating under time and materials or a fixed bid.  In our case, he clearly quoted a time and materials (with estimated number of hours and an hourly rate). When the bill was presented, it was much higher than the estimate (even though he put in fewer hours than estimate). His answer was I did more work than the original estimate.  [meaning: even though I spent less time than I quoted .. I did more electrical items than what I quoted for]  Just be CLEAR when getting a quote ... that's all I'd advise.
