Working with Alex to install our Level 2 EV charger, NEMA 14-50 sockets, and GFCI breakers was very easy. He was able to talk through our project and make suggestions due to our request to install not 1 but 2 sockets and a plug-in charger. His team was fast and efficient.

He also was able to help us with an additional small project to clean up some loose wiring elsewhere, so the garage looks so much better.

I was given Alex's contact info from a friend who ensured me he did quality work. I was looking to have an outlet installed in a crawlspace for my sump pump.
I texted Alex and not only did Alex respond back right away but he was able to come out that same day! This was not only unexpected but also a huge relief especially considering we were anticipating some wet weather in the forecast.
Alex, Ming and Wang came over, accessed the work and got right to it. They were done in less than an hour!

For the best, efficient, honest electrician, Mr. Alex Tong, serving the San Mateo area, is our choice. Eminent Electrical, owned by Alex Tong, is a first class, professional company that also does contractor projects, bathroom remodeling, kitchen upgrades, etc.
Alex replaced 4 circuit breaker switches that were obsolete and damaged and rechecked all the remaining switches and was quick, efficient and professional. I hired Eminent Electrical to remediate our knob and tube electrical system in our house, upgrade circuit breakers, increase service to 200 amps, and install new lights/outlets/car charger/cameras/etc. His team worked efficiently and quickly and performed great work.

The work was estimated to take two weeks and they only went over by 1-2 days to finish up a few small things.

His team works hard throughout the entire day from morning until evening. They had to cut holes all over my house to access and remove old wiring. They keep the holes to a minimum to limit damage within the house.

Alex was also able to accommodate last-minute additions as well and made sure our permit was approved.

We had to wait almost a year for PGE to do their upgrade to the lines before Alex was able to do his part but he was patient throughout the process. His team was professional during the install, on time, and hard working.

Alex and crew did an electrical upgrade on my older San Bruno home. Replaced a dangerous old Federal panel, 200A service upgrade, installed indoor sub panel. Replaced all knob and tube wiring with Romex. Brought electrical up to national electric code standards. Quote provided was fair and there were no surprises or up charges once work commenced. Alex and his team were extremely professional and a delight to work with. I just purchased a house that was built in 1960 and needed a full house electrical upgrade and rewiring.

His quote was very clear and detailed - even after I had an initial sticker shock on the costs, he explained very precisely the reason behind the costs of each item.

Overall, it took about 2 weeks from start to finish to complete the entire electrical upgrade. The house I purchased was extremely difficult to work with due to how it was built, but Alex and his team managed to do everything I requested.

Alex was very quick to respond to any questions I had over text or phone. The inspection passed with flying colors and everything is up to code and permitted.

Eminent Electrical-man comes to the rescue!

I've been using Eminent Electric for the past 3 years and Alex has always responded to my job requests with lightning speed, usually within a day. He's also been kind enough to answer various electrical questions I've had throughout the years.

Yesterday I texted Alex to see if he could move and patch a light switch and transition it into a dual rocker switch. Dynamic Duo Alex and sidekick Ho was able to skillfully finish the project in less than an hour and on the SAME day that I called! On top of that, they helped me change a dimmer switch back to a rocker switch.

We came across Eminent Electrical on Yelp, and set up an appointment with Alex for a full house rewiring project.

Right from the start, Alex has been extremely professional and excellent to work with. He gave us a quote based on a walkthrough and an expected start date based on a schedule he maintains. The quote was clear, concise, and detailed about the work, exactly what we were looking for. We mainly corresponded over text, with paperwork and some key details worked out over email. Alex was always quick to respond and was very precise when responding to all of our questions. He took care of all the permit paperwork without any issues. In fact, Alex became available earlier than anticipated while we were out of town. But his crew came in and did the work as agreed upon without a hitch, and even completed the bulk of work ahead of schedule. We did two walkthroughs when we were back in town, and Alex was able to accommodate a couple of minor additional requests from our side.

Requested quote thru Yelp, got response right away in which HE ACTUALLY DISPLAYED THE COST (most every time I request a quote on Yelp, they just reply Call Us Now! instead of providing a quote..)

Professional, prompt, and friendly: overall 4.5 stars for Alex and Eminent Electrical staff. He earned five stars for being professional, being on time, and letting me know about the steps for the project of upgrading my house's electrical panel to 200 amps.

He earned four stars for communication. The positives about his communication include Alex telling me the steps for the upgrade, calling and texting me. However, Alex could improve on communication in terms of giving more than one day notice when he or his coworkers plan to go to the house to work on the project, and answering my questions with more details via text or phone call.

Another advantage of having Alex for my house electrical panel upgrade is that he contacts and sets up appointments with PG&E for the power line switching, and with the city inspector. He did not have to be present for the PG&E power line switch, and he was present with the city inspector. Other electricians will not do this for you. I contacted other electricians, who visited my house in South San Francisco, and other electricians expect you, the client, to set up PG&E and city inspector appointments. It was a big plus that Alex took care of these appointments for me.

I contacted Alex to upgrade my house's electrical panel, because it was outdated, and the use of appliances would trip circuit breakers.

The project took three months from October through December 2019. To be clear, Alex and his coworkers completed the project in six days. PG&E and the city inspector have their own schedules. Alex first came to the house to look at the old electrical panel, to give his suggestions, and to provide his estimate. Then his coworkers installed the new electrical panel, and added the new electrical wires. Next, a PG&E inspector came several weeks later to assess the project. Several weeks later, PG&E came to switch the power lines, and attach the power line to the new electrical panel. Alex's coworkers also installed a four prong outlet, and another electrical outlet for a washer and dryer. The city inspector and Alex came to review his work, and it passed. Finally, he and his coworkers competed the project on the electrical panel.

I highly recommend Alex's work. Texting via cell phone is his preferred method of communication during the project. Months after Alex completed the project, my washer, dryer, and other appliances are working well without tripping circuit breakers. No issues with new electrical panel at all. I'm impressed with the service provided by Eminent Electrical throughout the project.

Alex was very responsive with all the questions and requests we had (except for the time when he was on vacation, which was expected). After the initial assessment, we iterated through 3 revisions of proposals with him. Alex was always very patient and proactive.

His project lead, Minh, was amazing. Minh worked with me to determine the exact locations of the lights and light switches. He tried to cater to our needs and provided professional suggestions when he saw problems or opportunities we didn't see. He was meticulous with alignments and paid great attention to details, which is very helpful for someone having minor OCD like me. At the end of the job (actually after each day of work), he cleaned up the place nicely and I can't be happier. I felt he really cared about the outcome of the job and wanted to make his customers happy.

Overall speaking, I had a great experience with Eminent Electrical. I will recommend the company to anyone who needs electrical work done (especially lighting work).

I went with eminent electric to do some major rewire if an old 1950s home we just bought. This included installation of recessed lighting and also removal of an old electrical panel and side panel that were part of a knob and tube circuit. Alex and his crew were very on time and was able to start ahead of even our original agreed upon date, and the crew was able to wrap up interior wiring within 2 weeks with very good follow up on inspection and PG&E service switching. All in all we were able to complete everything within 1 month.

Alex is also very responsive to questions and requests and his crew was also very helpful in diagnosing some additional non electrical issues found during renovation, such as a leaky pipe in the crawlspace, broken vents. Not only that, the openings created during the work is professionally patched. I am impressed by the ability of Alex and his crew to deliver and will probably hire them for renovating parts of the house later on too.

Alex and his crew were very efficient with the work they did upgrading my panel from 100A to 200A, despite PG&E being absolutely horrible to deal with. PG&E delayed the project by a couple of months, but once their approval was received, Alex got to work.

I am giving Eminent 5 stars because they did professional work. The work was so great that I overheard the city inspector complimenting Alex on his work and how it is always so clean and professional.

Alex did relatively well on communication, though there were some delays at some points. He did, however, try to deal with the PG&E issue along with me, which was appreciated. He even provided me with some supporting items to provide to PG&E, though that did not do too much.

Pricing was market value, if not a little lower.

That being said, I do have a couple of items that I hope Alex can keep in mind for future work.

Some remnants of their work were left behind for me to clean up, such as part of the roofing, side panels, screws and wiring. As I had to go underneath the house to work on our sump pumps, I noticed a lot of old stripped wires left in the sump pump holes and all around. Same with the work area around the old panel and the new panel.

Note for anyone with a foam roof. If you are doing the same type of work, they will likely need to cut into the roof, which can only be resealed with foam. They did seal the new pole (can't recall the correct term for it) at the roof, but not very well. In fact, they did not seal it all the way around, even though the section that had no sealant was on the downslope.

You will need to have that resealed by a foam company. I did not realize in my head that this would be done, but that is an error on my part.

Overall, I would contact Alex again and definitely recommend him for work.

Our bathroom outlet caught on fire, and Alex really helped us out by coming on a Sunday to help us replace it. He was the only electrician who was willing to come on the weekend. Most other companies couldn't come until Monday or Tuesday, which would mean the bathroom, and my son's bedroom (shared power) would have no power for that whole time. He was quick, professional and reasonably priced. I highly recommend him!!

Eminent electrical and Alex were very professional and easy to work with. We had a fairly complex project that required going from underground service to overhead, upgrading the panel, relocating a gas pipe and installing an EV charger. This required working with PG&E over the course of over a year. Alex and his team completed the work on time and where patient during the whole process. They pulled permits for the work and worked closely with PG&E throughout the project. The entire process took about a year because PG&E was very slow but the end result was excellent. Other electricians didn't want to take the job or quoted ridiculous prices because of the length of the project.

Another advantage of eminent electrical is that they have both electrical license and general contractor license. This enabled them to do all the work including removing a gas pipe as required by PG&E. Other electricians would require us to find a plumber ourselves.

Alex and his team recently did a complete rewire of my house which had a significant amount of knob and tube. It took 3 people about 3 weeks to complete. Some other electricians I called were hesitant to take on such a difficult job but it was clear from the first time I spoke to Alex that he had done this kind of project before.

As part of the project they also replaced an ancient subpanel, replaced all my low voltage recessed lighting with modern leds, and added an EV charging outlet. His team was very efficient and took real care to minimize the number of drywall holes they made. They were very also very courteous, cleaning up after each day's work and causing less disruption than I was expecting. Alex also communicated well, made good recommendations, and was responsive to changes throughout the process. I would highly recommend Eminent Electrical.

We have a 1956 house that had original knob and tube wiring. Unfortunately, we also have a low attic and some access problems. I called three electricians and one didn't show up, one was completely overwhelmed by the scope of the project and the access issues and the final electrician was Alex, who walked in calmly and noted all the details on his clipboard. He provided a fair quote and his team was able to start slightly earlier than we'd hoped. His crew was on time and kept a clean space, important when two people are working from home! Even a painter I hired to touch up some spots noted that the crew's work was careful and clean. The city signed off on the work and had no questions or concerns.

My wife and I purchased an old house, little did we know how much work was going to be needed. I was fortunate to come across Alex here on yelp. From the start, I found my interactions with him professional and responsive. With Alex acting as the GC and electrician, we proceeded to do a complete remodel (rewiring, new main panel installation, and replumbing) of the house. The kitchen was remodeled as were all the bathrooms. He was patient with our inexperience, flexible in handling the unexpected, and helped guide us through the process. In particular, I believe one of his greatest strengths is his ability to negotiate the permitting process (both with the City of San Mateo and PGE). All of the work done by him and his team passed inspection and the permits were signed off. His pricing was transparent and fair. My one regret was that I did not hand over more of the renovation to him (I had signed agreements with other contractors prior to meeting with him).

Eminent Electrical did a full rewire of our home, not only replacing the old knob and tube system but also adding multiple new electrical outlets and recessed lights throughout the house. I got estimates from several contractors and decided to go with Eminent Electrical because of their experience, flexibility, and competitive quote.

Alex and his team are very professional. He's by the book and you're assured the work will be in code. He replaced both my main and sub panels, upgrading to 200 amp and also installing EV charger and dryer plug. He's very trustworthy. There was one minor hiccup of which 3 of my small appliances may have gotten a surge. I had no proof that he was his fault which I wouldn't know how to prove anyway. Alex could have easily denied it's his fault but he offered to fix them/or buy a new one if he can't. He id fix them and good as new. He's a true professional and would definitely hire him again. Very positive experience with Alex and Eminent Electrical. We hired Alex to replace five old electrical heaters at our old townhouse back in 2013 and had a good experience at the time.

This year, we needed to do an electrical panel upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amps as part of a larger HVAC project, as well as having a damaged subpanel pulled out and replaced with a junction box. Alex was highly responsive, provided a very competitive quote that was less than the other two contractors we contacted. He also proposed a much shorter timeline to complete the work (2 days) vs the other contractors we spoke with, who gave timelines ranging from 4 days to over a week.

We had all three quotes and work plans reviewed by a family friend who has a lot of knowledge about electrical work and he told us that Alex's work plan was the most efficient and cost-effective way do the work.

Alex also coordinated with PG&E to transfer our service over to the new panel, and the experience was seamless and very easy. Alex and his team were always on time, cleaned up after themselves thoroughly, and answered all my questions. Alex also arrived on time to meet with the county inspectors to finalize the permits.

We would highly recommend Alex and Eminent Electrical and will definitely use him again. It's a winning combination of value, service, and good communication.

Alex and his crew completed a complete re-wiring of our house, including the replacement of our knob and tube system and installation of a new outside panel. We did this in two phases -- the outside panel and replacing the knob and tube were completed last year in preparation for our kitchen renovation and then just recently, the guys took on the wiring for the rest of the house. This made the job much more budget friendly since we were able to break up the costs.

While the price was extremely competitive , Alex's response time and follow-up put it way ahead of others. You were not left wondering if it would get done or if there was interest in the project.

Another improbable thing: his crew was on time every day (the re-wiring took 6 days). And I don't mean they got there within a half hour. No, 9:30 am was the scheduled start time and they would show up exactly on time or a few minutes early. They also took COVID precautions so did not skip any important protocols.

The guys cleaned up and treated our pets with care and respect. Alex was also able to get us help with plumbing issues and was always responsive to things we wanted to change. He is not a guy who, if you want to add work, will raise the price because he knows getting someone else to do it would be a pain and a tax on your time. All the extra work beyond the scope was reasonable in price and completed on time.

My lighting circuit for my living room blew out and I needed an electrician to fix it. At first I thought it was just a blown light switch, but after Alex came here it turned out to be more complex than that. He and his assistant came a second time and were here a few hours. At first they thought they would need to tear out the drywall to get access to a transformer in order to make the repairs (because of limited access from the attic), but this was avoided with some creative troubleshooting.

The strange thing is that the exact cause of the short is not clear, but my circuit breaker was tripping when the circuit was completed (after the switch was removed from the circuit)--so there clearly was a problem. I understand that this happens sometimes when someone is fiddling with a system and something is unknowingly changed that fixes the problem. But at least Alex was able to avoid a much messier and expensive path to get there. All the lights work now.

UPDATE
The exact same problem happened 10 months later (twice in the five years that I have lived here). The same switch burned out again, so the problem was not fixed. Therefore I am going to find someone else who can hopefully really fix it. I suspect this may be a more complex problem which is why I am not giving a lower star rating.

Alex's work is okay, done to specification. Two issues, one is blowouts from the drill. What ever drill bits they use, it's not for wood, causing significant blowout at every new hole they drilled. Another is that the communication was really bad. He texted one day that he's coming to take a look. Didn't reply to my message asking when. His crew showed up to inspect and started the job right then and there. I was not prepared and had meetings that day. There should be better scheduling. He also promised a proposal letter which I never got.

Alex responded to our request for a quote on panel upgrade quickly, and he came to check out our old panel right away (he actually came one day early, but fortunately we were at home at that time). We are working from home now, and they keep the disruption (electricity cut off) to a minimum. I was able to reach Alex easily through text and email, and he also accepts Venmo as a payment method. We got our over 50 year old house re-wired by Eminent Electrical. Alex was prompt with his communication. His quote was reasonable and there were no insane cost overruns towards the end of the project. Throughout the project he informed us of any unforeseen work and would get our approval before proceeding. He also obtained all the approvals from the city and inspections done without any effort from us.

His crew did an amazing job! They were careful in moving the furniture and other items before starting the work. They also covered items with plastic when needed. They arrived and started work every morning right on time at 9 AM and would tidy up before leaving for the day. They meticulously leveled and measured the distance from walls for every outlet and fixture. They even left the attic and crawl spaces in good shape. They patched up any of the drywalls they had to open. They finished the entire project a day ahead!

Re-wiring the house, while living in it was daunting, but Alex and his crew got it done without any delays. We would definitely hire Alex and his crew for any future electrical projects.

Bad experience with Alex: NOT reliable with bad attitude.

1. Late to the appointment by more than 1 hour. He called me to say that he was close to my home but then kept me waiting for one hour after I rushed home from work for him.

2. He wanted to leave his assistant to do the job alone, who didn't have proper license. When I said I preferred a license electrician to do the job, he said Ok, He would leave as I didn't t just his assessment of his assistant

3. It was supposed to be an easy job based on Alex's assessment (that's why he wanted to left the job to his assistant), but they ended up discussing for 1 hour to find a better approach to fix it and charged $200 for the assessment fee ( chatting in foreign language that I didn't understand).

4. He said he would come back to fix the issues on a few days but FAILED to show up despite multiple contacts.

I had Alex and team come over to help replace my home's Knob and Tube.

Our home was built and the 1950s and while there was never anything wrong with the wiring, it was always in the back of our heads that we needed to modernize our wiring. I called Alex late on a Friday afternoon and he offered to come take a look and get some info for an estimate on that Saturday morning.

The estimate was fair and in line with other estimates that we were getting. Alex and team were able to schedule the work to when we were going to be away on vacation. His team was able to complete all of the work quickly and before we got home. In addition to replacing the Knob and Tube, Alex was able to bring the home fully up to code and even helped move some outlets to more convenient positions or add new ones where the original home didn't have any. Alex and team also upgraded my circuit to a 200amp circuit and added in a circuit to my garage for future EV charging.

For large and small electrical jobs, I would trust Alex and his team.

Finally getting around to writing this review! A few months back, we hired Alex and his team to do a whole-house wiring upgrade when we found some old live knob-and-tube wiring in the attic crawl space. We also had the team add in an outlet in the bathroom for a bidet, repair a faulty motion sensor light, and also run cat6 around the house to install cameras. We also wanted to ensure that the wiring upgrade would done with a permit so we wouldn't have to do it again. The initial quote was very reasonable and fair, and when we discovered after starting that the house had much more knob-and-tube and incorrect wiring than expected, Alex provided additional cost estimates for additional work that were also very reasonable. Once we made an initial payment, his team was able to come in much more quickly than expected and completed the work within the span of two weeks.

During the upgrade, Alex's team was able to keep the rest of our house livable while working section by section, which was very important since we've got young kids. Because our house was built in 1954 and has had crawl space access restricted during renovations since then, they had to make some cuts in the drywall in order to run new wiring. They checked with us before doing this and made sure it was OK. They were also very quick to respond to any questions or concerns and finished the large job very quickly. Alex also arranged for the permit inspection and took care of finalizing that on the spot.

We were very satisfied working with Alex's team on these jobs and would definitely hire them again.

I contacted Eminent Electrical to install 2 pendant lights and some dimmers.

Scheduling was tricky, but once Alex (the owner) arrived, things were gravy. I suggest they use a virtual assistant to smooth this out.

One of the pendants was elaborate - 7 globes with differing drop lengths requiring attachment to a heavy metal base, but he was able to build and install it without issue.

He's quick, detail oriented, comes with tons of his own equipment/hardware, and is a fount of knowledge.

He was able to answer all my questions about dimmers and the bulbs that worked with them. He also noticed the placement of naked LED bulbs where overhead lamps used to be made the ceiling look unfinished. He introduced me to inexpensive LED retrofit kits and installed the few he had with them. He briefly ran into an issue during the installation but worked the problem until resolution. Our ceiling looks so much better! He even gave us a discount on the kits.

- He was able to figure out the problem as to why I lost electricity. PG&E and my HOA were less than helpful; I was stressed out but he helped figure things out.

- Thoughtful/goes above and beyond to help: He came on a Saturday and figured out that my circuit breaker needed a new part/switch. Specialty supply store isn't open on Sunday so he came back on Monday to finish the job. In the meantime, I only had a wimpy plastic flashlight & some candles, so he loaned me 2 heavy duty flashlights and a long industrial extension cord (in case we wanted to borrow juice from our neighbors for our fridge). Alex and his team recently upgraded our knob and tube wiring in our 1940s ranch home in San Mateo. They did the work on time and on budget based on our initial agreement. They did everything to code and permits and inspections were a breeze. Given my experience I plan on engaging with Alex again to upgrade our garage electrical and add EV charging.

Alex is responsive via SMS and arrives for appointments that are mutually agreed. His team is hard working and considerate. They kept a clean job site and covered belongings to avoid dust and damage.

Alex installed an EV wall charger in my garage. The garage had a conduit from the circuit breaker panel to a wall plate installed by the builder. Alex installed a high amperage breaker and wiring to the wall plate and installed the charger. Working with Eminent - wow. These guys not only saved our ass but did it on budget, within quote and 3x as fast as the previous guys we let go.

Alex the owner was very level headed and easy to work with. He exhibits great tact and problem solving skills. Solutions to difficult problems were addressed, easier to implement, professional looking and had user functionality considered. My input was always received well and without ego.

He worked with our schedule. Either Alex or his crew showed up on time and always put forth 110% effort. This is something i highly appreciated after dealing with the (nicely put) much slower and less detail oriented (professional crew) drawing out the job to make more $.

His crew member, Kong was fun to work with. I was around for part of the sfh rewire and Kong did much of the work i was paying 3 other guys to do formerly.

At first i was concerned b/c Eminent cost the same as the previous crew i let go with a larger team. But truly Eminent's pricing is of a competitive tier and a testament to the confidence, conviction and proficiency of a quality team. Literally Kong did the work of 3 people in the same amount of time. When he needed support, Alex or additional crew were there. Kong was able to balance a multitude of tasks that a home rewire demanded, keeping busy and working hard in the brutal attic heat. He took direction well from his boss Alex. He's knowledgable and hard working.

Kong's tag line is its easy!. This way, when he said its not so easy, it was clear what we were dealing with. 90% of the time all i heard was, its easy, and man, i consider those things, HARD. At the end of the day its not so easy was always completed with all daily goals per usual, on time and on budget.

Finally i'd like to say i truly appreciated the level of integrity and sincerity. Eminent helped us in what i felt was a tough and trying time in our lives. They could have taken advantage but always took the higher road while the crew and their level of integrity exhibited the same. Irony struck when i learned 2 others I work with hired them and had nothing but overwhelming goodness to share. On a final note, Eminent carried me all the way through inspection with full service. The level of quality work was echoed as the inspector unsolicited, commented on these points.

And

with one giant felt swoop Eminent laid the foundation of safety, removing exposed, arcing, fussy Kobby Tuby from the loins of this oldy but goody single family home. With vigor I'd recommend them to anyone. In fact moving forward I don't ever want to deal with anyone else.

It was an amazing experience. We contacted several Electrician companies for estimate. We have an old house which need to re-do the wire and the panel. Alex's team is not only the fastest response, also quickly detect what needs to fix/upgrade with a reasonable (decent) price. And the final price is actually a little bit lower than that. There is no extra fees like if I simply want to add an outlet or install a light in the middle of the project or I change my mind on some details for wiring. The work started and finished with no delay at all. I don't need to hands on or worried about anything. Alex contacted PGE and the city for the permit, and arranged everything for me. The team made sure that during the project, there is no impact on my daily life. They came in the morning when I left home for work. They left with a clean home when I reach home after work. I was busy on my work during the construction and Alex's team left messages for explain the work they scheduled and the work they finished everyday. The new panel installed is very clear that which switch is for what. Everything is perfect organized, what I feel is smooth and comfortable.
Last but very important, our basement and attic is really dirty. Alex's team didn't complain anything at all. They just squeezed in to the dirty narrow place, did the work and clean up.

My review is long overdue! We used Alex and his team to do a fair amount of work at our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. We had old knob and tube wiring that was replaced throughout the whole house. We had a microwave that would trip its circuit breaker every time we turned it on while we were also using the toaster oven or coffee pot (it wasn't on a dedicated circuit). I used Yelp's new Request a Quote feature to get quotes from Eminent Eletrical (Alex) and 5-6 other electricians. I provided photos of the attic, breaker box, etc. Super easy to push this out to multiple service providers.

Alex's quote was among the least expensive and he was among the most responsive. However, when his technician arrived, we found that he couldn't get access underneath the house or through the attic to our microwave outlet. His technician had worked up a sweat trying to get access from three different points under our house. But he didn't give up. After consulting over the phone with Alex, Alex came to our house too and they trouble shot the situation together. Eventually, Alex recommended putting the other kitchen outlets on our island garbage disposal's dedicated circuit, which we seldom use. This left our microwave on its own circuit and renders the potential tripping of the breaker to our seldom used second disposal.

I appreciated Alex's commitment to find a solution both by coming to the job to help his technician and his coming up with a creative solution. Problem solved and I know who I'll be calling the next time I need an electrician :).

I called around 3:30pm on a Friday and Alex said he would be out between 6-7pm. He arrived around 6:30 and identified the problem right away. He took care of a couple of other fixes while he was there and completed all the work in less than an hour. Truly appreciate him coming out late on a Friday evening. Charges were reasonable. Working with Alex and his crew was great. We hired alex originally to complete a total overall of the electrical in our house. He came in very reasonably priced compared to some competitors. Alex and crew completed the job on time and within budget. He was able to pivot when we asked him for additions and subtractions to our original agreement. The crew was very courteous in our home. They covered the floors properly and cleaned up after themselves daily. All in all the electrical work was fantastic.

Additionally, we hired Alex and his crew to help complete a kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, window installation and a bathroom addition. Alex assisted us with picking out tile and fixtures. Was incredibly helpful throughout the process. Again, compared to competition alex was very reasonably priced. The work was amazing and again his crew was incredibly courteous with taking care of our home.

Alex and his team just wrapped up rewiring my entire home from old knob and tube. I got several bids and his bid was competitive, plus Alex was very responsive with my questions.

His team worked tirelessly in just over a week to rewire our home and update an electrical panel. It was tough work going through our crawl space and attic, cutting open ceiling and wall, but they got the job done professionally.

During the project, we discovered that electrical work that should have been done during our kitchen/bath remodel was not completed properly. This is what happens when you don't have good contractors with proper electrical experience.

Ultimately, his team fixed our electrical issues and the inspections passed. As a bonus, the project was completed early despite the incremental issues.

Alex is an expert in his work, understands the codes and has a good relationship with PG&E and the city inspectors. I recommend working with Alex if you're looking for any electrical work. You definitely want someone who knows what they're doing!

Alex and his team are awesome. I initially found him while searching for someone to remove the knob-and-tube wiring and redo all the electrical, install recessed lighting (38 lights), and install home theater/cat6 runs in an older house I had purchased this last January. I had gone through multiple contractors for quotes, but Alex's professionalism and honesty made his business stand out to me the most. He also provided very reasonable pricing for the amount of work we wanted done. While planning for the project, Alex was upfront with telling what would work and what wouldn't, and saved me many potential headaches. Alex also surprised me when I learned that his team does much more than just electrical, and they helped me with some drywall and plumbing projects that needed to be completed.

For the actual work, Alex's team was punctual and very detail oriented. They finished the work quickly, and all of it passed city inspection without any hitches whatsoever. Since the initial work, I have called Alex and his team back throughout the year for other smaller jobs and I have always been satisfied with the results.

I contacted Alex because we had a recent kitchen, dining room and bathroom remodel and we were concerned about the work the electrician did on the job. I asked Alex to look at EVERYTHING the electrician did, and he found a number of problems---reverse polarity, outlets not properly grounded, the electrical box mislabeled, etc. He corrected everything and even printed up a diagram of our electrical box so we could label it properly.

We also asked Alex to do some other electrical work in our home, and to properly connect some speakers in the back of our house that were no longer working, along with our DVD player, etc. The speakers took quite a while to troubleshoot, because we didn't know if the speakers were no longer working, or if the control on the wall was not working, or if a wire was disconnected somewhere along the way. Alex figured out that the speakers were not correctly hooked up to the back of our receiver and fixed the problem. All of our equipment had gotten unplugged by a carpet cleaner and a handyman tried to hook everything back up, with limited success.

Alex was very friendly, responsive, patient and knowledgeable. He was assisted by Kwong (sp?), who is a hard worker and very capable. Kwong's English is limited, but he is not shy, and does his best to communicate. They were both a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend Alex's company for your electrical needs. He is also a licensed contractor. Judging by his work in our home, he must be a good contractor. He does very neat work.

We had Alex take a look at our newly purchased 1950s home shortly after we bought it. We wanted to have a professional electrician take a look at the electrical items on the inspection report, which had flagged concerns about potential knob and tube wiring in the attic, and we wanted to add recessed lighting in 7 rooms, track lighting in the family room, upgrade our main service panel to 200 amps, and install all new smart switches, dimmers and outlets. Basically, and electrical equivalent of a full gut job.

We got a few quotes, and Alex was not only the most cost effective, but his design ideas for the track lighting configuration were creative (we had a weird layout).

We picked Alex and a few weeks later, he and his crew started the three week project. He communicated regularly leading up to day one, confirming the start date and time and letting us know that he could start earlier if we could. And then once they started, he would give daily updates and address any decisions needed or issues we had in the evenings. The crew was very neat, and the work product was very clean. Our complicated track lighting looks impeccable.

For a big project like this, they stayed on budget and never nickel and dimed us for small things. Unlike working with some other trades, working with Alex felt good and we very much enjoyed the experience. We'd use him again in a heart beat!

We had an outdoor outlet that we controlled remotely that failed and I couldn't diagnose. Alex was able to come over in 30 min on a Friday evening, identify the problem immediately, and propose a couple options for DIY fixing for a very reasonable short visit charge. The next day I bought a new remote switch and tried to install but didn't have the wiring right, since our setup was more complicated than the basics that came with the switch. Alex texted me a diagram showing me how to do it (I would never have worked it out on my own) and Voila, fixed and with a better-than-original setup. Exactly the help I needed, fast and affordable. We saw the five star rating and excellent reviews for Eminent Electrical, so we contacted Alex to install lights in the ceiling of our living room. Our home is 1940's vintage and the walls are thick plaster. There is no attic access, so it required some skillful installation work and I anticipated a big mess. Alex gave us a quote and the day he brought his crew, they started work at 9:30 in the morning. They were finished by 3:00 that afternoon, leaving the place spotless, including installation of a new wall outlet in our master bedroom. Alex provided a quote for replacing an old electrical panel and bringing it up to code, in my new home and was very thorough in answering all of my follow up questions. We scheduled the work and he showed up right on time with one other person to help with the job.

They immediately got to work and worked through the afternoon to finish the project, patching all the holes as they went. They were very kind and left the house as clean as they found it, you never would have known they were there!

His pricing was the lowest of the multiple bids I received, for the most service (i.e. included patching walls and replacing outlets with GFCI outlets) and he was the most available in terms of scheduling the project.

Overall I am very pleased with the work Alex completed and would recommend him to anyone looking for an electrician in the area.

In early July, I needed to install a 240V charging station in my garage for a Nissan Leaf electric car. I contacted Alex and he came to my house the next day to evaluate the project. Since I had decided that I wanted to use the Juicebox (240V 40A) charging station, I emailed an Amazon web link of the charger to Alex. After Alex accepted the project, he gave me a quote. Then he was actively working on it. He was responsive and answered questions patiently during all our discussions.

He and his coworker were polite and knowledgable. The project was unexpectedly more complicate than we thought. Thus he gave me a second quote for replacing the old circuit breaker panel and for bring a new independent line (8 gauge) to the garage. Alex and his coworker got the project done beautifully, all in two visits within two weeks. The charging station has been working perfectly the past four weeks. I can't say enough great things about Alex and Eminent Electrical. I bought an older house with knob and tube wiring throughout. I hired Eminent to rewire the entire house, and upgrade the main and sub panels, and add some recessed lighting while we were at it. They also installed my security camera system. Alex was a great find!! I needed to get a couple bathroom fans replaced - one was a completely different model / size in one bathroom, and another fan that was supposed to be a plug and play replacement but actually had some differences that made it more than an easy install. Alex came out and put both fans in quickly, patched up the drywall since the first fan needed some cuts, and cleaned everything leaving us within just a few hours with two new fans. Alex's team upgraded our newly purchased home from knob-and-tube to modern wiring. Insurance companies are starting to require this upgrade when older homes change hands. It was a big job. If you need to have this done, be prepared for holes cut in walls and no power for a little while. (Fortunately we had this done before moving in.) But they got it done well at reasonable cost, and handled the permit and inspection too. They even upgraded some light fixtures at the same time. And they came back later to troubleshoot some minor issues which are inevitable in such a major overhaul. Glad I went with Alex's team for this job.

Based on our experience in 2014 with Alex from Eminent Electrical (for a small job to install an outlet for our water heater), he was one of the first people we called for an estimate on an entire house electrical upgrade. Our 70 year old house had knob and tube wiring, little to no lights in the rooms, and lacked sufficient outlets. Alex had a very competitive bid and we also knew we could rely on him for any unexpected situations, which always seem to pop up in construction jobs. He explained he would not be able to start for a couple months, but we were fine with that as we weren't in a hurry. He actually was able to start a week or so earlier than anticipated. Alex handled all the interaction with the City and PG&E. The job took a little over 2 weeks and involved complete replacement of the wiring, a new panel, additional interior and exterior outlets, new garage lights, switches and outlets, as well as installing 28 recessed lights in the living room, dining room, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. They also ran wires and installed floodlight cameras, as well as replaced security lights. Alex also solved our issue with unsightly TV wires in the master bedroom. He had explained when he came to do the estimate that they would need to cut into a lot of the walls in order to get the wires in place, and that any patching would be extra. We were ok with that, since we had the expectation from the beginning that we would probably have to patch and repaint the entire interior. We were pleasantly surprised with the amazing job his workers did with replacing the drywall - including placing wood behind the bigger pieces and screwing it in place. All that was left for patching was the taping and mudding, which we actually ended up changing our mind and going with his drywall guy for a very reasonable rate (much easier overall!)
He had a crew of 2-3 guys working on our job the entire time (the same guys so there was a comfort level there). They were very technically experienced and my husband enjoyed interacting with them. Even though there was a language barrier, they were very friendly and respectful. They were very good at overcoming language issues to get any information they needed from us, and Alex was always quick to answer texts or calls with our more complicated questions. His workers never cut into the ceiling without getting approval from us for the planned placement of lights. In fact, it was that step that made us realize we needed more lights in the living room. And Alex was always good about change requests - unlike some contractors, he didn't use the opportunity to hold you over a barrel and extract unreasonable fees. He was very reasonable for changes that would cost (like more recessed lights) and as some others mentioned, movement of outlets or additional ones generally weren't an additional cost. His workers cleaned up at the end of every day and never tracked dirt in from the garage. Alex was good-natured with us after we decided we needed to add another bathroom light after they had finished the interior and were just concentrating on finishing up in the garage. Overall, another great experience and we highly recommend his services.

This is long overdue but we hired Alex and his team to re-wire our entire house, swap a main and sub panel, and install about 45 recessed lights. They were prompt and quick with their installation and coordinated with PGE for the disconnect as well as the city inspector. We had a few breaker issues due to faulty breakers that we discovered months later after finally moving into the house and Alex made several trips to help fix and resolve personally. We were required by our new house insurance company to have our home's 1929 'knob and tube' wiring replaced. Alex and his crew did an excellent, masterful job! They had to contend with difficult places to get to (very small crawl space, high attic, and some places they had to just drill holes in the walls). The wiring works, the holes got patched, and those walls repainted so well, we can't tell where the holes were. Very nice crew to have around, and they always cleaned up any sawdust or plaster each day. Alex is also a general contractor, so he was able to supply not only the electrical work, but also the patcher and painter.

I do not normally write yelp reviews as if service is good, that is what you pay for and you shouldn't get a review if you do a good job. However, when the company or business goes and does an exccellent job, like Alex and his crew ; then a great review is warranted.

I chose Eminent Electrical to come to my house and install LED recessed lighting & dimmer switch in the living room, LED recessed in my daughters room, and add an outdoor plug for lighting.

Alex and crew were clean, prompt, and very thorough. Lights work great, clean work, and very detailed. The outdoor plug required more work that just adding a plug (he had to retrace the lines inside the house and fix somethings that weren't right before doing his work. This is why you hire a good electrician, they don't just add-on to bad work, they bring it up to you, fix it, and then do their work. Plenty of others would have just added the plug I wanted without fixing the other stuff.

I will use and plan on using Eminent Electrical for all of my electric work and will recommend him to anyone looking for a big or small job.

We needed a 240 volt line in the garage for our new Tesla. When we called the electrician that Tesla recommended on their website for our area, they gave us a quote that was unexpectedly high. We were thinking of just using them anyway because they had good reviews on Yelp. But after seeing the reviews on Yelp for Eminent Electrical that were even better, I figured what's the harm in at least getting another quote from these guys. Wow are we glad we did!

Alex was extremely responsive through text messaging, and he came by the next day to look at the electric panel and the distance to the garage. He then sent me a quote later that day that was 1/3 the cost of the other quote! I was a little skeptical, but the reviews were so good that we decided to give them a try.

They had an opening come up a few days early, so Alex called and asked if we wanted to take it. Since we were in a bit of a hurry to get the work done, we agreed. He and his worker spent several hours installing the line. Since we were still a little skeptical that they were going to use quality materials, our general contractor took a quick look at what they were doing and confirmed that not only were the materials the right ones, but they were doing the work the right way. After talking with Alex later, he did confirm that they were doing quite a bit of work installing these lines for electric vehicles.

So if you are thinking about making the switch to an EV or just need any electrical work done in your house, I would highly recommend Alex and Eminent Electrical!

I found Alex on Yelp. With all the good reviews, I figured, why not try him out? We bid out the complete re-wire (all outlets, switches, fixtures, etc) and panel upgrade of our 1955 house in San Mateo to three electrical subcontractors. Alex was definitely the most knowledgable of the three contractors I had price our job and he gave me the confidence that he has performed this work before (which means a lot when you are trusting your entire house re-wire to a contractor). Alex and his crew started as scheduled and completed our work quickly.

I was pleasantly surprised as to how clean Alex and his crew were. He had to cut access holes in some of our rooms to route wiring (which he did very cleanly with a hole saw and kept the pucks to install after he was finished). I was actually surprised as to how few holes he had to cut. He cleaned up after himself every day. With two kids at home (4 years old and 2 years old) this was very important to us and Alex exceeded our expectations.

He handled the entire permit process and had our home completely signed off by the City of San Mateo after one trip back to address a few inspector comments. He worked very hard and ran into some obstacles (overcame them with a quick call to me to check in with what his plan was, then proceeded accordingly), but held his original bid with no fuss.

I cannot say enough positive things about Alex and Eminent Electrical. I had an electrical outlet spark and trip the circuit breaker covering all the home's bathrooms, just before the New Years holiday weekend. I feared flipping the breaker switch back on because there was no apparent reason why the circuit sparked to begin with (other than the House has old wiring) - I did not want to start a fire in the townhouse and burn down the complex! I called Alex we communicated via text throughout the day, as he tried to find time to fit my job into his company's schedule. He was able to make it and fix the problem, giving me piece of mind that the house would be safe with the power turned back on. While he was there, he was also able to deactivate an old electrical wire that I was trying to remove from the back of a closet, so the little girl living in the room could finally make full use her closet.

After completing the work, he simply wished me a good night. Alex clearly made quite a bit of effort to fit my job in that day, did a great job completing the work, made more time to complete the extra job I sprung on him while he was there (and it was definitely near/past the end of his work day already), and only asked for very reasonable monetary compensation for his work...this review was NOT solicited!

Alex is knowledgeable, professional, and his prices are reasonable. I will definitely be calling Eminent Electrical for future electrician needs and highly recommend Alex's work.

I hired Alex and his team to do a complete upgrade of our first-floor electrical (getting rid of knob and tube, and then bringing everything up to current code), and they were great to work with! Very reasonably priced. Started and finished the work on the timetable Alex provided in advance (which is not the norm from my experience working with contractors), which made it so much easier to plan life around the work. The workers tidied up at the end of each day and made an effort to minimize the inherent mess of the work. And knob and tube work can sometimes require cutting into walls to get to the wiring, but they were able to REALLY limit the amount of damage to the walls; only had to cut into the walls in a few, small spots and patched them up well. Alex was very responsive and helpful through the whole project (even on a holiday weekend when an urgent need came up). All in all, I was impressed! I would use Alex again and would certainly recommend him.

Alex and his associate upgraded my main electrical panel. This project involved coordination with PG&E and my solar company to make sure everything was in the right place and at the right time, using the right materials - all at a competitive price. Alex worked with all the parties involved and ultimately it was a successful and relatively painless endeavor. I have had Alex and his team do multiple projects at my home and in every case I have been completely satisfied. I did kitchen remodel with Alex. I found him through yelp and gave him a call for an estimate. He was prompt with providing us with initial quote and patient in terms of questions that we had on variety of topics. Now, with regard to kitchen remodel, our scope of the work was complete kitchen remodel i.e demolish existing kitchen and install new floor, cabinets, granite, appliances etc. He took couple of days to write the contract and came up with his official quote & gave us an estimated completion of 3 weeks. His contract itself was very detailed and made me very comfortable with the scope of work he was going to perform. Eventually, we decided to hire him for the kitchen project as he seemed to genuinely care about his customer and their needs. And, might I add his price was also the most affordable we could find on the market for a licensed guy.

Now, fast forward 3 weeks, I am happy to report that he delivered the whole project 3 days before his estimated schedule. His crew Jim and his helpers were excellent in terms of the work they have done. We are very happy with how our kitchen have turned out. Thanks to Alex and his crews especially Jim for paying attention to detail. Everything went smoothly except once when they found that my sink and the sink drainage was too deep and they had to redo the plumbing in order for them to hook up my sink. His crew was hesitant to do that but Alex came to the rescue and offered himself to go to hardware store to look for replacement sink drainage. When he couldn't find a matching drainage, he asked his guy to redo the plumbing which delayed our schedule by a day. But they even turned up on the weekend to complete the job. Next day my sink was hooked up and my kitchen was done. I am very happy with Alex and his crews and would recommend them for any remodeling you are considering at your place.

I told Alex I needed 6 recessed LED lights in the family room with 2 smaller directional recessed LED's pointed at a couple built-in cabinets.

Reliable, hard-working, knowledgeable and reasonably priced! Eminent installed ceiling-fans in our family business, wiring conduits in a commercial suite and has handled a number of construction and electrical projects at rental properties. We have been hiring Eminent for years and have been thrilled with the results. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! On time and within budget means a lot to me, and Eminent delivers as promised! I have used Eminent Electrical on several projects and always found them to do the job right, on time and within budget. They installed air conditioning in my house, changed a dining room ceiling mounted light fixture, set up an HD TV, changed our ovens and installed outdoor lighting. I hired Alex to change the ceiling light fixtures, install a light in patio and few dimmers. I will say, he is very punctual and prompt in his work. He cleaned after he left and was friendly too. He is also reasonably priced.

I had a few random electrical projects around the house that I've been wanting to do for a while and I called Alex based on the positive reviews. When he came out to provide the estimate, I really appreciated his explanations and suggestions. For example, I wanted to add an additional outlet in the kitchen and thought I knew where I wanted to put it. Alex made a suggestion with some real good rationale and I'm glad I went with his suggestion. For exterior work, he also pointed out some safety concerns I hadn't thought about previously. I really appreciated his suggestions and expertise. Needless to say, I hired him for the project. He was very professional, efficient and clean. The job looks great and I'm very satisfied.

Our garage door was broken and we were in a rush to get it fixed. We called Eminent Electrical and Alex came extremely fast. Once here, he did a quick fix the Saturday we called him, and later came back for a full solution on Sunday. Overall a fantastic job and the fix was really clean. The wiring looks really neat and the door works like a charm. Definitely a good experience.

I've used the same electrician for the last 5 years. This time around, when I called him, he was booked for the next 2 months. So I began my search for someone else, not expecting to find anyone as great as my old electrician. I was wrong. I found Alex on Yelp and thought I would try him out. Long story short...he far exceeded my expectations. He's honest, friendly and competent. His prices are very reasonable and his work is excellent. We hired Alex at the suggestion of a co-worker. He was prompt to come and look at the work and very well priced versus our other bids. He installed two wall mounted lights, LED cans in a bedroom and replaced a fixture. The work was fairly involved and he was prompt, neat and everything works super well. We thought he was easy to work with, reliable and he just does high quality work. We had a minor issue with one room and he came by the next morning to fix it. It's rare to find someone who will come back so quickly and we were very impressed. We'd happily hire him again and recommend him highly.

Based on his Yelp reviews, I called Alex to have an indoor electrical outlet moved to a new location for a refrigerator installation. I had a tight schedule for completion. He was able to come the next day and got the job done in an hour. He was very knowledgeable, efficient and reasonably priced. We did a fairly large remodel and used Alex Tong for the electrical portion. Alex was great. He works by himself, and calls in helpers if needed. He is an electrical engineer. He is organized. Most importantly, he is honest and stands by his bid and his word. No hassle, not trying to increase the price along the way, as many others do. He is correctly priced. He spent extra amounts of time figuring out how to do things well -- which we liked. He uses top quality materials.
Alex can be pretty busy but he works on week-ends and tries to accommodate his clients' schedules.
We highly recommend Eminent Electrical.

We found Alex by using Yelp, and called him up to get a quote to rewire our entire house. He came back with a great price and so we hired him. 5 months later the remodel is finished and we are enjoying the updated electrical system in our home. He pulled out all the old knob and tube installed a 200amp service, wired the house for cable and internet, set up a homerun in the garage, installed all of the indoor and out door fixtures, and outlets. We had our home inspection last friday and the electrical passed, the inspector said he did a good job wiring the service panel. In closing i'd say Alex is extremely hard working, very responsive, reliable, very professional and really easy to work with. He will be our electrician from now on.

I had an external electrical outlet that stopped working. I called Alex and he was at my house that same day. He quickly traced the problem to a broken wire in my attic and had it corrected in no time. It's oftentimes hard to find a reliable electrician to take care of smaller issues. Alex and team were great to work with! Our kitchen was closed off and looked small and cramped. Eminent Electrical opened up that closed wall and truly opened up our kitchen in addition to making it more functional by adding more counter space and cabinets. In addition to working on our kitchen, Alex added recessed lights in our living room, installed electrical and ceiling fixtures in our 3 bedrooms, sensor light in driveway and lastly additional electrical outlet in our garage. Based on Yelp Reviews I hired Alex to hang a new dining room chandelier. He was able to fit me in the next day. Our previous electrician installed our ceiling box incorrectly and Alex set about to fix that, as well as do a beautiful job hanging my light. He was responsive, prompt and meticulous. Cleaned up after his job, and when I told him I would vacuum the packaging materials, he was genuinely concerned that he might be leaving a mess. I will definitely be hiring him again, and think you should too!

Alex was great. We thought we just had a bad neutral but it turned out to be a loose neutral and 3 breakers. He went through very methodically and figured it all out and was very courteous and professional the whole time. And the price was very reasonable.
