Lights Out

San Francisco CA

Description

Lighting has been my family's passion for the past 35 years. I have been working with lighting for 21 years now. I do it all from basic installation, on-site repair, restoration, recessed layout and installation, low voltage track, and trouble shooting of all kinds. I also handle smaller electrical projects. If you have a lighting or small electrical need, give me a call.

HISTORY

Established in 2003.
I started in my family's lighting business at age 12 and started this business up about 14 years ago installing lights and making small repairs. I loved the work, and the phone never stopped ringing. 6 years ago I made a great decision to hire my two right hand men and they continue to do great work for me to this day. We specialize in lighting, remodels and troubleshooting electrical issues.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

I grew up in a lighting business and learned it all from sweeping the parking lot, to rewiring lights to helping people design the lighting for their homes.  I left that went on to college in NYC and started a career in Advertising which lasted about two years until the dot com bubble burst and then I went back to what I know and love best.  I have been at it for 14 years and we have thousands of happy clients many of whom continue to call.

I'm overdue for this review. These guys put in outdoor lighting, re-did our kitchen lighting, installed our dining room lights, and put in a bathroom fan/light - all of it was done professionally and competitively priced, and they provided great guidance/advice along the way. 10/10 will use again.

We have used Lights Out for both our kitchen home remodel and more recently on outside landscape lighting for our rental unit.

We found the owner Brett Bryant, honest, trustworthy, and communicative throughout the entire process.  He provided recommendations to us with our kitchen LED lighting as well as with our rental unit's landscaping lights. He came by to check on the work and even made suggestions on lighting on the palm trees to provide better illumination, which was well received.

In summary, we were glad to have used him and were extremely pleased with his company.  So much so, the best source of a compliment to a business is providing referrals which we've done!

Brett Bryant is wonderfully responsive, trustworthy,  and great to deal with.  We had a fixture short out between Christmas and New Years and he promptly sent Felix to find out what was wrong, fix it temporarily, and determine what needed to be done to avoid the problem in the future.  His prices are reasonable and he makes clear and understandable recommendations how to deal with lighting problems.

Great service. Reasonably quick, fairly priced, and these guys know what they're doing. They were able to successfully troubleshoot a wiring problem that a prior handyman was unable to solve. I'd recommend them, and be confident they will get it fixed.

I had recess lighting done about 8 months ago. I always like to wait a bit before a review so I have plenty of time for the dust to settle after a project. Working with Brett and his team was great. He provided a detailed quote, which I've learned is very important with projects, and took several of my questions regarding so I would feel comfortable before moving forward. His team is efficient which is a big plus because it's hard having people in your place when it's small. Brett offered several suggestions on lighting location based on my living lifestyle. He also has a referral for the patch work that you can or cannot use, but for me being able to have everything done in one fell swoop is what I needed. I would def work with Brett and his team again.

On time, communicative, professional, fair, reasonably priced (he works quickly, so it's actually well worth his hourly rate), and overall a seamless and stress-free experience from a young man with a can-do attitude.  It was fun to watch Brett in action.  He is the real deal and an inspiration. Thank you, Brett, for lighting up my home.

I'm leaving 3 stars, as they were very responsive, and the work in my home was ultimately fixed.  But they overcharged me significantly...here are the details:
We originally had what I thought was one light flickering in my home. We scheduled an appointment to fix that, and fix another light that was completely out, within 3 days. When we noticed it was several lights flickering throughout the house, we contacted Lights Out, who was able to schedule an appointment for the next day.  Brett B had quoted me $150/hour + parts.
The next day, 2 people came to my home, spent almost the full 2 hours looking through my circuit breaker box, and said they tightened some screws that should help. They also fixed the broken light in my bathroom.  However, the flickering lights persisted.  Brett called me that evening and said I need to call PG&E, as they thought the problem was on their end.  I also received the first bill, which was $220/hour...NOT the $150 I was originally quoted.  When I asked Brett, he said that their apprentice rides along, and they charge another $75/hour for him.  That was AFTER I received the bill.  Ok, I paid it, fine.  Hoping PG&E could fix the problem.
PGE came out and everything was fine on their end.  So we kept the original appointment I had scheduled with Brett for the next day.  This time they sent their top guy, Shad, who was great. He first looked in the circuit box, and immediately found the issue.  One of the circuits was fried.  See photo below.  I have no idea why the first 2 men spent 2 hours but did not find this.
Shad did not have the part, so he had to drive 30 minutes each way to a supply store to get it, then come right back.  In total, Shad spent 3 hours, including the 1 hour drive to and from the parts store.  Brett charged me the full 3 hours, at $150/hour + parts.
I'm happy to pay the full amount of services.  And I did.  But these 3 things are why I'm giving a 3 star review:
The extra person for $75/hour that I was not told about
The 2 hours they spent without fixing the issue that I was charged for
The 1 hour of drive time to and from the parts store that I was charged for

I asked Brett kindly about each of these, and in each case he responded nicely...but did not do anything to rectify this.  My total bill was $1,246.  Therefore, I cannot recommend their services.

This is the first yelp review I've ever written but I just had to warn anyone who is thinking of using this company...DO NOT waste your time. If I could give this company zero stars I would. The customer service is absolutely atrocious. We called to schedule an appointment to get our track lights put in and then called back to make a minor time change (same day) and the owner Bret tells us that moving the time would cost us more money...($125 more) How does that work? His explanation was that it's like herding cats to get his guys there at a certain time together so he had to charge us more to ensure that his staff could connect at our home at the same time....so he wanted to charge us $150 per hour per person to get 2 licensed electricians to do the job and one of them would only be holding the ladder....for $150 per hour. I must be in the wrong business!

My husband asked if there was anything he could do to honor the original quoted price, even offering to hold the ladder himself to which Bret replied
Look we have a unique skill set and you obviously need us that's why you're calling us.  WOW!!!! He then proceeded to tell us we were being difficult and then cancelled our appointment all together.

I've been in customer service my whole life and my husband and I own a business and we would never ever think of treating out customers this way...oh and did I mention we were repeat customers. Some people are just not meant to provide customer service...Bret is one of those people. Don't waste you're time with Lights Out.  We found 2 other companies who were easy, reliable and less than half the cost.

Brett has worked with us on two jobs over the past few years and I will gladly work with him again.

A few years ago, we wanted to replace track lighting with recessed lighting in our kitchen and hall. We talked with Brett about how we use the areas. He determined the best types of figures and bulbs for both areas - the kitchen is for cooking tasks and the hallway has some artwork.

He recently installed a ceiling fan and two outlets. The job was quickly completed. And, the outlet installation was very neat so we did not need to patch and paint.

The ceiling fan started making intermittent noise. We set up an appointment, but the noise stopped. We offered canceling the appointment, but Brett came over anyway, checked the fan and installation and we found out we have a warranty issue with the fan. It is great to be working with someone who is helpful and pleasant.

I reached out to Lights Out for help with intermittent power outages at our house. He advised I call PG&E first, who came out and fixed the issue. I appreciate the honest advice and saving me the house call. I will definitely use Lights Out for any electrical service I need in the future.

Brett has helped us out with several projects now, some small (replacing a dryer outlet, troubleshooting GFCI issues) and large (running a new electrical line for a new HVAC system). He and his team were always responsible, reliable, and courteous, and did great work at a reasonable price.

In my experience, it is hard to find a good electrician who is willing to come out to do small jobs, so I was thrilled to find Brett and Lights Out.  I've used them several times (installing a ceiling fan, replacing under cabinet lights), and they are super easy to work with and get those small jobs done!

Not worthy too expensive and I got overcharged.
Brett, the owner  $225 to change 8 light bulb (doesn't take on hour) that i provided. Than I asked him to take a look at another light fixture for $50 extra. The fixture needed to be replaced and his guy had to get it from the hardware store literally around the corner.
I received a bill of $650 for 2 hours to change 8 bulbs and a light fixture and $70 to replace 2 dimmers that they burned together with a light bulb. When I called to ask why is three times what I was quoted his answer was I don't know? I wasn't there! YOU ARE the owner and should know! Pick up the phone and call me to at least  warn me that the price now is going to be triple what I quoted you.

Brett since you're not aware of what your workers are doing you probably don't know that the bulb your guy burned was never replaced. In fact it's still the old one on the track and I was charged for the time and the cost.
I'd like to see the receipt from the hardware store. P
NO you did not complete your job.
Too bad because not only I will never use your services again but I was asked by another apartment owner with my same issue if I would share you contact. Well, you can immagine what my answer was.

Working with Brett was like working with a professional family friend, in a nutshell. I worked with him to install around 9 recessed lights, refurbish 7 more, and install 7 or so light fixtures.

From day one Brett was a very honest and had our best interests in mind, recommending to us light newbies that we REDUCE the number of requested lights by half because we didn't need to fill every inch with light. He was upfront about everything he was going to do, and extremely flexible and professional even when talking about sensitive issues such as quotes and pricing. He gives you a list of options to choose from like a menu, with costs and everything. So convenient.

In fact we felt so comfortable we went ahead and got some more lights in place we planned to do in the future, because why not?

Everything went to schedule, Brett and Shad are professionals, did an amazing job, my wife can't believe how 'light' things are, and I still can't figure out how they got a recessed light in that ceiling like 20 feet above the ground!

I needed a new circuit and outlet in my garage to charge an electric vehicle. Every other electrician I contacted either jerked me around or tried to sell me stuff I didn't need. Lights Out responded quickly and did the job quickly and at a reasonable price. I would absolutely use them again.

This review is long overdue, as Lights Out has done all my electrical work since my downstairs condo neighbors discovered them on Yelp nearly 8 years ago. They are terrific!

One of the things they did was to install a motion detector that worked with our existing vintage ceiling fixture above our front steps/entry way. This worked beautifully for years until it appeared the bulbs had finally burned out.

But when we tried to replace the two bulbs, it was a real challenge.  The light stayed on - but it was very dim - & we could not turn it off.

We reached out to Brett, who gave us detailed advice on the specific bulbs to look for so he could save us the cost of a visit. Brett even called me one night after hours to help us troubleshoot.
And explained how to shut off the very dim light, which was in danger of burning out the expensive motion sensor, from the panel inside the downstairs unit. We would have never figured that out on our own.

Turns out we had to hunt down dimmable incandescent bulbs, which are no longer sold in CA as of 2020. Luckily my neighbor found some before the year ended & we were able to finally fix it ourselves - all thanks to Brett's free advice. Now that's customer service!  Thank you, Lights Out!

Sometimes you know from the very first meeting that you're working with the right folks. Very very pleased with Brett and team and their results. They work quickly and competently from the initial design meeting (where it was clearly still on us to make the choices, which for our long-term happiness was wise) through scheduling, the main work sessions, and a follow-up to install the final fixtures when they arrived.

We will definitely use Lights Out again on any future lighting jobs. All three of the team brought knowledge and judgment to their work, but were great about confirming any options with us (such as lamp height, bulb choices, etc.).

I was indecisive and delayed my project for over a year. Brett was patient and very helpful when I finally got around to making up my mind on what I wanted done. He recommended someone very thorough for part of the project he couldn't do and was always very responsive when I had questions. His team is great and trustworthy and I am delighted with the completed project. Lights out does excellent work (detailed and by code) and follows through. I would definitely recommend them and use them again if I needed more work done.

Lights out did a wonderful job on our installation. They helped us decide what we needed, how much it would be, and were highly professional along the whole way. A 30 minute consultation and 2 hours of labor was all it took to install dimmers, a nest doorbell, and give us some ideas for lighting improvements. I cannot more highly recommend them if you are looking for an electrician.

Brett responded very promptly and made time for the job right away.  He did the job efficiently and explained things clearly.  He was willing to work around our short-term rental guest and he came back when he said he would and called before coming. His rate was a little more than some rates quoted me and less than one rate.  I would definitely call him again!

My biennial check-in: Lights Out continues to be a tightly-run, efficient business. Brett is terrific--very responsive, continues to make great suggestions.

This was not a major install but a repair. One of our pretty but tempermental light fixtures was flickering on and off and Brett changed the socket to something more reliable. He was here on time and in and out in under an hour.

Had an incredible experience getting some electrical work done for our small townhouse HOA. We had exterior lighting issues on two buildings, and I called Lights Out after our usual electrician was not working due to Covid-19. Brett was super helpful over the phone and in scheduling. I received a confirmation texts both when the appointment was scheduled, and when the technician was en route - pretty slick and unexpected for a contractor! The tech, Felix, showed up on time and was awesome. I'll definitely be calling Lights Out next time we need some work done!

It was with a bit of skepticism, mostly due to the negative reviews of Lights Out that I placed a service call with this business.  My dubiety was soon quelled, as my experience with Brett was nothing short of excellent.  In fact, I am planning to have him back out to my house to fix some long-standing honey do electrical stuff.

In a nutshell, I had misconfigured two Lutron sensor/dimmer light switches in a hallway.  I configured a master-master scenario when I should have configured a master-slave configuration.  All it took to repair the issue was five minutes on the phone and a 20 minutes service call at my house.  Brett, even went back to his shop to pick up a slave light switch and returned within a few minutes.

I recommend Brett and the Lights Out team for all your electrical repair issues.

These guys know what they are doing.  My wife and I bought a fixer upper, and shortly after, we hired Brett, Felix and Shad to do all the electrical that was necessary in our new home.  Mostly because, they were the most reasonably priced, and they gave me warm fuzzies.  lol

You can tell right off that bat that they have been in this type of situation before.  After discussing plans the team quickly put in for a city permit, and inspection, took out all of our knob and tube throughout our house, put in new wiring and revamped the circuit box in the garage.  The were super flexible with the other contract work that was happening in the house, (floors, drywall, etc.) and were super accomodating with our schedule and budget.  I couldn't have asked for anything more in regards to an electrician.

If you need to hire someone for any type of electrical work, big or small, these guys are the guys to do it.  Hire them already!

Brett and his team are amazing!

We contracted Lights Out to install recessed lighting 9 months ago, and everything turned out amazing. The entire team is courteous, professional, thorough, and attentive to detail.

With 20 years of experience, Brett is clearly passionate about lighting design. He provided a thoughtful lighting plan that optimized the lighting design for our space.

Brett also helped us through the city permitting with the city inspection to ensure our work is done according to code.

We really appreciate Brett for his work, and we highly recommend his company.

Edit: in response to Brett's comment on 1/5/2016:

Brett, you did in fact speak with me, as written in my original review.
It's great that you have thousands of happy clients....unfortunately i cannot say the same about my experience with you.

And, no, I don't like bombing peoples yelp pages as you suggested in your comment....I've had great experience with Yelp and all of my reviews are positive with the exception of yours.
Cheers.

Whoa - Incredibly rude and condescending.

I spoke with Brett on the phone, describing the electrical items of which I was looking to get estimates. Was really surprised on his snappy attitude, I've never had an experience like that with a contractor in my years of using contractors/tradespeople.

Spoke with/interviewed several other electricians in the City - all of them were pleasant and professional, unlike my experience talking with Brett.

Hire them for your project! Brett was quick to respond to my request for an estimate, came out gave me his honest opinion for recessed lighting in our home and laid out exactly what he would do. He provided a fair cost and beat out another bid I had received. He sent his estimate a couple hours after our meeting and the work was scheduled 2 weeks out.

Day of install of 12 recessed lights, 4 switches and adding a new timer switch at our front door, Brett's awesome crew knocked everything out in 4 hours! Fantastic work, quick and very very clean. They initially anticipated that I was going to need some post install drywall work at the front door location, but his installers were so efficient they were able to cut out just what was needed and we ended up not having to repair any drywall there. The crew was respectful, nice, hard working and was able to trouble shoot easily any issues.

This is now my go to company for any electrical work.

Spent a bit more than $800 with this outfit two years ago, and today only 50% of the install is functional. The equipment they installed without asking my concurrence is from eastern europe and is a generation behind current tech (who installs halogen anymore?). Nothing we requested was complicated, just outdoor fixtures for the deck, and a mission-critical outlet to drive my irrigation system, but despite return visit, it's all bogus, just finished trying to replace two burnmed-out halogens on this cheap gear, not fun. Lights Out indeed.

loved the emailed question/answer option. called for clarification, got scheduled same day (small job). (5 stars)
Technicians were scheduled for 2pm, called Brett at 2:30 to investigate where they were, they called 2:45 to say they were on over 30 min out. I would have preferred a call at 1:45 saying they were likely going to be more than an hour past expected time and 'can that still work?'. (3 stars)
Technicians were friendly, considerate, seemingly working quickly, outlets they replaced work. (5 stars)
Price seems high from what I heard from a contractor friend (3 stars).
Waiting to hear from Brett on another quote as overall experience was good.

I had Brett out a couple of times.  The first time he did a great job.  However last time, he did not. I have some overhead cable lights and they kept flickering.  It wasn't the bulbs so I called Brett. He came out and played with them a bit and they went on.  10 minutes after he left they went out. I called him and instead of him coming back, he told me to play with the cables again.  That's not fixing the situation and I didn't pay for an electrician to fix it incorrectly.

I'm now calling another electrician to get to the real problem.  I'm sorry Brett didn't work out or spend the time to do it right.

I have been working with Lights Out for a couple of years now and I have nothing but great things to say about them.

They have been able to troubleshoot electrical and lighting issues in my home and for my clients (I am a realtor).

I have used them to help me pick out and install lights for clients on a budget when staging, and when they want to make their home sing after they've moved into the new one.  Brett even helped me replace the aging lights in my own home in the dining room and master bedroom.

They always call ahead to let me know they are on their way.  Once there, we walk through the project to make sure everything is clear and then again at the end to show me that everything has been done.

I would highly recommend Lights Out for any new lighting, retrofit or electrical troubleshooting. I have referred them to many friends and clients.

My 10-year old under-cabinet light ballasts all failed, and via NextDoor.com noticed a posting from Brett Bryant at Lights Out.  He responded promptly to my inquiry and within a few days his colleague Shad replaced all four light fixtures with top quality, state-of-the-art LED lights...and will soon return to install a new light fixture in the breakfast room and replace an old 1936 electric wall socket.  I am delighted with the quality of workmanship and the friendly service and gladly recommend Lights Out without hesitation!

Brett and his team are amazing. We've worked with them twice now. Once to change some light fixtures in our kitchen and a second time to add lights to the front of our house and our backyard. They listen to your needs and send you suggestions via email. They were very timely, neat and fast. We ended up with great lights and at the end we got tips for good restaurants in the hood. We will work with them again anytime.

So here I am again, posting a great review for a business and owner that I respect. Brett and the guys are always responsive, say and do what they say they will do, show up when expected and follow through. He has taken great care of my clients for all these years.....and me !

I had an issue at my house this time and thought I had trouble-shooted the problem before calling Brett. He came out quickly and it was a simple fix. He came with a smile, didn't embarrass me or my electrical ignorance and was nice about the fact that I actually wasted his time.

Brett is pretty awesome.  We moved into our new place and had a bunch of problems with lighting in several of the rooms.  He comes by within a few days and fixes all the the issues within an hour!  Also, we mentioned that we had these expensive halogens that kept burning out every few weeks.  Brett saved us a ton of money by giving us the information on the LED parts that we could buy ourselves and telling us how to upgrade them ourselves.  Only took 30 minutes and our kitchen is much better lighted and we don't have to replace bulbs every week!

Overall, a very honest and knowledgeable electrician at a reasonable rate.  You should keep him in your phone book!

We used Lights Out to add some exterior lighting on our house. Brett replied to my online request in a couple of days. Brett's nice, reliable, and a good communicator.  His price was considerably less than an estimate I got from a competitor who also had a really good Yelp review.  Brett did all the work without any interruptions, which I really care about when paying by the hour.  And although he was late, he did call to tell me that and gave me a pretty good estimate of when he'd arrive (about 60-90 minutes later).  He also had a colleague drop something off to him at my house to save time.  I had a good experience, and plan to set up future work with Lights Out.

Used him on the strength of the below reviews, but his price for 10 minutes of work to replace a ballast in a flourencent light fixture in my kitchen was $155!!!  The below reviewer got a rate of $85 for just under an hour's work.  Interesting.

Anyway, my light works.  And my wallet is lighter.

We enjoyed working with Brett and think he did a great job installing lighting in multiple rooms in our condo.  He was professional and left the place immaculate.  Also what was incredible helpful was his taste for design and recommendations.

Only downside is that we had some trouble working with Brett in the beginning.  It was nothing substantive relating to lighting, but more logistical.  Wife and I work long hours during the week and often on weekends and are often times called away on short notice.  When we don't have jobs that regularly get us home during normal hours it was difficult to find times to meet and on the weekends when we had windows in between calls there were some issues with tardiness.  That said, once Brett understood these constraints and that we weren't just being jerks he worked around our schedules.  Probably our fault for not setting expectations and being more demanding in the beginning.

We'd recommend Brett to anyone who needs lighting work.  With the benefit of some communication about expectations, he really does a great job and is a pleasure to work with.

Brett Bryan was incredible!! If you need electrical and lighting service--he's the guy!! His company is called Lights Out ! I've used him for several jobs over the years and he always takes that extra step to make things right! You won't be disappointed!! He was at my home doing electrical work when without hesitation he helped correct a lighting situation on my hood over the stove. Brett stepped in correcting the problem and did an amazing job repairing the lights! I highly recommend him!

I had a few light fixtures which required more than just a light bulb change, so I called up Lights Out. After describing the fixtures, he was able to roughly identify the issue and so we made an appointment.

Before the appointment, he called up to confirm everything, so I was comfortable knowing that I wasn't going to get stuck with a no/late show.

Appointment came, he showed up on time, took care of things, and I now have working kitchen lights.

Fast, friendly, and got the job done nicely in about an hour.

Called Brett to hang a new fixture.  He promptly scheduled my appointment.  He arrived on time and with a friendly smile.  He suggested an install that would save me some bucks.  Love it.  He worked super fast.  We talked Cleveland Browns football.  New fixture looks great.  Brett rules.  Call him.

I called Brett to help me with putting up my dining ceiling light.

He was courteous, funny and very helpful. He advised me for the best way to put the lights up, and gave me insight on the best placement in the room. His quote was reasonable, and he stuck to it. He even spent some time helping me set up the lights.

Thumbs up!

Brett is a really thorough, courteous, and professional electrician.

He came by my house today to fix a failed power outlet, and as he did the work, he described to me nuances of the dimmers installed in my apartment and mentioned some things I should be careful about.  He had a matching replacement wall switch in his truck already (he described it as having a Noah's Ark of fixtures with him at all times), and he also fixed up a frayed wire on one of my lamps at no additional cost.

Top-notch experience overall, so I'll be going back to Brett the next time I need an electrician too.

Brett is all the things you'd ever want in an Electrician! I refer him to all of my clients and I have had nothing but positive, glowing remarks about him and his stellar work. I HIGHLY recommend him!! I'd give him six stars if it were possible, on a really exceptional day where he makes the impossible possible for one of my clients in need.

Brett charges based on the going rate for licensed Electricians in San Francisco and as far as I am concerned he earns it. He is very flexible with his schedule, he follows up with his jobs, and he always makes sure the job is completed to the satisfaction of his clientele. It's important to note that these qualities are few and far between-there are a LOT of Electricians that won't bother to call you back if you want a light bulb changed or a ballast changed out. Brett does it all from a whole house re-model to small jobs that require his attention. You pay for knowledgeable service and you get what you pay for. He may talk fast and get so technical that your eyes cross but I promise that if you ask him to slow down and explain, he will.

I appreciate that he's extremely personable and does his best to accommodate his clients, I get rave reviews all the time. And YES, he's super well educated but he never boasts- yeah, he went to Colombia...but whatever he's just a down to earth guy! Of all the clients I have ever referred to him I have NEVER had negative feedback that had anything to do with his ability to do the job and do it well.

Brett Bryant is a true professional and one of the nicest people I've ever met.

It can be a daunting task finding someone to do household repairs.  All of the recommendations I had previously received got me nowhere because the job at hand (fixing a ceiling fan and light in the bedroom) was too small for the electrician to even consider.

I got Brett's number through a fellow Yelper who had not yet used his services. In any case, he was available and got back to me right away to set up an appointment.  He arrived on time and even called to let us know when he was on his way.  He was able to fix our ceiling fan & light within the hour and replaced our switch - all for $87.

I recently called Brett for another job which he called to tell me he was running a little late. He ended up being even later than what he initially told me, but it wasn't a huge deal and he did a good, efficient job of replacing our ceiling fan in the bathroom and garbage disposal switch.

If you are looking for an electrician, give him a try!

I hired a Handyman to come in and put dimmers in four rooms of my house. He said no problem; then he gets to my place and says he can only do dimmers on lights that have 1 switch--WTF. I stopping F'in around and found an electrician on Yelp.

Brett came to the rescue. He came in with the right dimmers--much nicer quality than the one the HandyMan had installed, so I had him replace that one too. His price per hour was competitive and he does not mess around. Brett was totally efficient and friendly, and  I will use him again.

Thanks to Brett Bryant, our home is not only consistently illuminated, we are also saving money.

We have quite a few lights that are placed well out of range of most ladders, and I was calling Brett on a fairly regular basis to change two or three recessed bulbs at a time. At his instigation, we are now using more environmentally correct LED lights, which basically obviate the need to call him as frequently. Brett has stocked my cabinet with back-up bulbs for every type of fixture in the house, a daunting task. And he's a whiz at hanging artwork. Added bonus: Brett is funny, responsive, and easy to work with. (A few of the one-star reviewers may not be able to discern dry humor from rudeness, but while Brett has never been rude he can be very amusing.)

Under Cabinet Lighting Project:

- Brett is the best.  Stopped by to take the initial measurements and provide suggestions regarding not only what I thought I wanted, but also, what would make the overall finished product successful.

1. Florescent under cabinet lights
2. Incandescent center ceiling light
3. Recessed incandescent lights framing the center ceiling light
4. Remote switching for the newly installed and remoting of an existing center
   ceiling switch for convenience

- workers Shad and (sorry, can't remember the other guys name) were also great.  Quick install, cleaned up after themselves, leaving a neat work area.

I found Lights Out & Brett via Yelp.  I wanted to do up all the lighting for my entire apartment (2 bed, 2 bath).  He came over, charged me $150 for a consultation.  I was looking for installation help (technical) and for design help (aesthetic).  The design help was marginal, and consisted of him flipping through 3 magazines and pointing to random lamps, rather than listening to what it was that I wanted.  I ultimately had to do much of this work myself.

4 months and $15,000 later, we're still not done.  His professed expertise in LED installations is nonsense.  Systems still don't work.  We've had power and light failures constantly, up until this day.  He appears to have used me as a Guinea pig to have me pay him so that he may learn the intricacies of LED lighting installation.  This has been a complete misrepresentation from the beginning.

He also never takes responsibility for something going wrong.  It's either my fault (I am blamed for most of his problems, consistently) or it's someone else.  Never does he say 'sorry' nor does he own up to his own mistakes.

Also, he and his crew are always late.  Sometimes by hours, and sometimes they never show up.  This is maddening when you (I) have to work during the day and that staying home to receive them requires careful coordination.  They are also less than respectful of your (my) belongings, particularly when sweating on my clothing, leaving a mess on the floor, and damage where they pulled paint off the wall, etc.

In the end, I am 4 months into a relatively simple (albeit large) project, it is still not done (a transformer melted just last weekend)--resulting in no lighting in my bedroom, yet again.  $15,000 in, with constant emails from Brett asking me to pay him $700 for the latest transformer failure (which of course wasn't his fault).

I can deal with things going wrong, and with delays (what project ever goes to plan?).  However, the manner in which Brett has dealt with me has been below sub par.  Unacceptable.  I strongly dis-advise from using him.  If you do, put a very strict contract in place that gives him no wiggle room to back out of his obligations.  Also, be ware of him saying 'yes, I can do that, I've done this before many times, it's not a problem', particularly when it comes to LED lights.

Good luck!

Courteous, prompt, professional, honest, and on time. Called in the morning and spoke with Brett about an outlet with no current and wasn't related to fuse/breaker. Unfortunately it was connected to the main computer room and main broadband. They were able to send someone out later that afternoon and the Felix was able to diagnose the problem to a bad connection/switch. They charge a fixed hourly price, you can probably find another company that charges less, but  you pay for what you get, in this case prompt service and knowledgeable technicians. Thanks Guys.

Brett came to my home in SF recently and fixed three broken light fixtures in 3 different rooms. He was easy to schedule with and he called to make sure that I knew when he was coming that day. Brett was great! Our dishwasher started throwing the breaker it was on. I wrote in the morning, he got right back to me with some suggestions for how to test things out myself. None of that panned out. He came on the same day, exactly when he said he would. Turns out that we had a leak a while ago which led to a corroded wire. I'd never have figured that out myself. Brett fixed the wiring and made a few other suggestions for energy efficiency as well. I strongly recommend Brett and Lights Out.

I would caution anyone thinking of hiring this vendor to think carefully about their $200 minimum. If you unsure of how long the job will entail or need help diagnosing the issue, I would not recommend this company. In my experience, they came out and said the original doorbell would never work because wires behind it were cut during a renovation and the (what we thought was temporary) inexpensive plastic doorbell was wireless and just needed a new battery. Time spent on job was about 8 minutes. We had a battery on hand and simply replaced it when we learned the real doorbell could never work again.

GREAT experience working with Brett to hand electrical repairs and light installations in my 5 unit condo building.  Brett is well educated, professional, and has a personable demeanor.  He communicates well, and thoughtfully reiterates the scope of work to be performed orally and in a written invoice or email so there is no confusion about the work to be performed.

Before he started the job (which entailed multiple tasks) he physically walked me through what he was going to do, and at the finish of the job, he walked me through the completed job to make sure everything was done to our agreed specifications.

You can't ask for a more professional electrician in San Francisco.  His employee, Shad was great too.  Both of them called beforehand to let me know the 30 minute window of time they would be arriving, and they showed up on time.  He billed me via email promptly with everything spelled out accurately in an easy to understand itemized PDF invoice

I felt so comfortable with Lights Out, I have asked them to do more electrical work inside my unit.  Prices charged were fair and transparent, and given the professionalism, reliability of service and quality of work, well worth it.

I read some of the few negative reviews here, and can honestly say this was not my experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND working with Lights Out.

ive worked my entire life around contractors.

im the first one to say there are a lot of really bad contractors out there. you have the fly by nights that quote you the cheapest possible prices, then a month later when things go wrong, they change their cell phone numbers and youre sol.

my first advise to people is DO NOT base your decision solely on price. of course price is an important aspect of any project, but it shouldnt be the reason why you choose one contractor over another.

i always tell people, figure out a budget range and find the contractor you are the most comfortable with, the one you trust the most within that budget.....

of course i never follow my own advise... when asked whats your budget, im like whats a budget.... i need to follow my own advise... my own advise i DO follow is finding a contractor you feel comfortable working with.

we really needed to upgrade our lighting situation. you can only go so long with cfls and costco floor lamps. there comes a time when you need to get some grown up lighting.

i got some grown up furniture... finally (read no more milk crates) aka the better half put her foot down and said im not living in a dorm room.

its time for some grown up lighting.

other than the no limit no budget lighting project my obviously much more financially successful older sister asked me to take care of in her mcmansion a decade or so ago, ive never took on a lighting project.

brett doesnt make you feel like a deer in headlights. he covers the bases without too much detail to get lost in. he explains things pretty simply and without making you feel like youre a dumbass for not knowing some technical information. he described the look and feel the lights were going to create, something thats important because if you are like me, you get lost in other details and dont focus on the important one.  i was trying to focus on the technical side of things, i forgot the most important detail... how things will look all lit up!

we have yet to sign any bids and obviously, none of the work we called him for have yet to be completed, but if someone that lives and works around contractors his whole life feels the need to share an experience, its something to take note of.

I called Brett based on the Yelp reviews and he was professional, punctual, personable and quickly fixed three broken light sockets in our kitchen.  Since he completed the orginial job so quickly, he looked for other things he could fix in our home since he charges $100/hour -- whether he stays 10 minutes or 60 minutes.  He found a modern halogen light that was out in our hallway that I thought only needed a new lightbulb.  He spotted some dark marks on the wiring and went to investigate.  Brett spent 30 minutes trying to fix this light (it wasn't the lightbulb!).  He didn't quite figure out was wrong -- but I appreciated his work ethic and would call him again for other jobs.

Please note that we ended up trying another electrician to fix our trolley cable lighting and he was very knowledgeable about our lighting and the issues of burnt out/shorted light fixtures.  He immediately knew how to fix it and which light fixtures needed to be replaced.  His name is John Peters with Brookline Aires Electric.  Both electricians are good but John appears to have more technical knowledge.

These guys are doing so well since they're so excellent, they hardly need my review, but here it is:

The process of getting Brett here to look our situation over was easy.. he's responsive, and he actually shows up on time.

The guys came over, and had the track lights installed on time, and with so little fuss and troubles, that I felt they were working too hard .. silly me.  They did it all for a great price, very very fair, and we're very happy with the work... which we've been using for two months now.

I called them again for another smaller job, and it was the same delightful and easy proposition as before. Thanks guys!

I have hired Brett twice, and am a bit bewildered by how he ever managed to get a few negative reviews here.  Perhaps he has a mysterious Mr. Hyde alter ego evident only on other service calls, in which he snarls, berates customers, tears up property and so forth.  I don't want to make light of the bad experiences of others, but my own experiences with Lights Out have been first rate.

Brett worked in advertising before starting Lights Out, and there is about him the air of a former white collar professional who simply prefers to be out and about in the city helping customers instead of chained to a desk.  On the first call, he did more than I expected him to.  On the second, he did what was asked, and charged me less.  He is exceptionally friendly, and happy to provide one-homeowner-to-another advice to fellow San Franciscans.

Lights Out seems to specialize in ... well ... lighting, just as the web site says.  I don't know what range of electric service his company provides, and wouldn't count on being able to use Lights Out until he says a job is within his purview.  But if Brett says he can do the work, I'd certainly turn to him without reservation.

Brett is as good as they come!  He's extremely professional, prompt, and knows his stuff.

We set up an appt. for 2pm on Friday.  He calls 15 mins before to say he's on his way.  He shows up on time, and quickly dives into my 2 way switch problem.  After some search and seek, he informs me that my problem is a detached/worn out wire (the second he's seen in 7 yrs).  He gives me 2 options to consider, all with total candor and honesty.

I choose the less expensive option, and Brett even helps me navigate to a website to purchase the fixtures that I need.  He's coming back when the materials arrive and installing them for me.  Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to the return visit.

5 stars in my book!!  (And I'm a tough customer to please!!)

I had the pleasure of working with Brett and his team as far back as I want to say February 2013 and it's now November... Long story short lights out managed to install motorization to shades I was having installed. A task i couldn't find anyone to do. They really know their stuff. I had them install an electrical outlet on my patio so this holiday season i can string lights. Then i wanted to install a ceiling fan in my bedroom, Brett sent me a couple of links to some awesome sites. I went with Minka Aire and it's one of my favorites things in my home! I had an outlet go out one morning and they were coming to do something else and replaced it lickety-split.
His team came and  hung pictures due to the tall ceilings I have and so on... I cannot brag about Lights Out enough, I will use them when needed forever!

Oh, and something you don't find these days is customer service, well Brett calls 1/2 hour prior to arriving:) how's that for customer service!

My girlfriend and I engaged Brett to install some outlets in a wall without electrical, run some extra cables and hang a chandelier. We'd looked at several other electricians and couldn't quite make any others work, most probably because our job was too small.

Brett was able to make an appointment to come by, assess what needed to be done, purchase all of the materials for a reasonable price and do the work all within a week.

Impressive on all counts: great positive attitude, compulsive conversationalist (in a good way!), completely competent technically and completed the work in half a day instead of the day we thought it might take. He didn't underspec or overcommit and most importantly our dog liked him :)

I would absolutely recommend him to anyone, especially for people like us with not much direction being recent first-time home owners in the city. Couldn't be more pleased!

Brett knows a lot. He relays a lot of information, which I don't always follow or really need. Typical of someone passionate on a subject.

He redid the lights in our whole house. Brett leaned toward a lot of light, which we agreed upon, but turned out to be overboard for us. Nevertheless, we're very happy the overall results. It made a world of difference.

I cannot comment on price because we didn't shop around. I found him through Yelp and liked him enough in our preliminary meetings and consultations. He's friendly and pleasant.

Minus one star because there was a little lack of communication between him and his staff, e.g. scheduling, what needed to be done, and type of bulbs.

The follow-up is excellent. They had to come back like 3 times and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with the end product.

This is not Brett's concern, but I did have a problem with the painter he recommended. We have a white ceiling and over the years, the actual color faded with natural light coming in. We added recessed lighting and needed painters for the patch work. They only painted around the recessed lighting, which was like more than half the ceiling. But, the colors were totally off between the faded paint and new paint. I don't know why the painters didn't just paint over the whole ceiling, they had painted most of it anyway. I guess they thought we wouldn't notice or care. In any case, they did come back with no complaints to finish the job at no extra charge. It was just a hassle coordinating another painting session.

I needed the lighting mechanism repaired in my dining room.  I called Brett and he was at the house within 25 minutes.  That's service!  Sure enough, he had all the necessary parts on hand and made the repair in short time.  He's extremely responsive (obviously), professional, friendly, and a really cool guy.  I'll definitely be calling Brett for future work.  A+

An update! one of the switches Brett installed for me seemed to be having a problem( had nothing to do with the installation, was a manufacturer's defect) Brett was nice enough to come back and replace it at no additional cost! Now, that's standing behind your work!
He was also extremely nice about it.  I wouldn't hesitate at all recommending him for your electrical problems/projects.

I had a laundry list of projects that needed to be completed.  Including installation of exterior light fixtures, GFCI, Timers and a ceiling fan.  I scheduled an appt with Bradd and he called to confirm and showed up right on time.  He did the work quickly and cleanly.  I would definately recommend Lights Out and will use them again for future projects.

Great over the phone, Brett provided a estimate for work that others over the phone stated would be very difficult to do, turned out to be pretty straight forward.  Work done promptly and very satisfied with the results!

One of our wall sconce lights went out and it looked like it just needed a new halogen bulb.  After only two tries, I got the right length and we put it in.  But it still didn't work.  We shook it a little but nothing happened.  My partner didn't want to get electrocuted and said we needed to find an electrician.

Now in the past, we've been lazy and left such issue unresolved for months at a time.  I didn't want half a light in that room so I looked up electricians in San Francisco and found Brett's yelp listing.  Looked good, called him, and he came by that same afternoon.  Very easy going guy and he was also helpful in identifying other potential electrical-improvements in our house.  We've been trying to find an electrician that we could trust for awhile for such smallish projects, and Brett seems to be a match.

(And the issue with our wall sconce light was just that the new bulb was bad.  It won't work when the little metal thingy wiggles when you shake it.  Had we tried inserting the 2nd new bulb that I thoughtfully purchased at the same time, we would've saved a visit from Brett.  But then I wouldn't know what to get to replace our kitchen under-counter lights and justify another future visit from Brett.)

I give Brett 5 stars. No need to go into a long story but what really pleased me was Brett's attention to detail, he did everything in a careful and precise manner, and cleaned up after the job. His professional but easygoing manner was much appreciated. We also did not have to wait more than a few days for an appointment. Highly recommended.

Brett is fantastic!  He returns calls promptly, arrives on time for appointments, and completes projects quickly.  He has installed indoor and outdoor fixtures at my house on several occasions.  I have always been very pleased with the results.  I plan to have him install a chandelier in the dining room, once I find a good match from the manufacturers he has suggested.  Thanks, Brett!

Brett was great. My kitchen light wouldn't turn on, then it smelled like something burning. Figured it'd be safer to call an electrician than troubleshoot it myself. I called and was lucky that he was available same-day. I will definitely call again if I need electrical work.

Wow! This guy is good. I needed some track lighting put up and he was able to give me a estimate over the phone and figure out what it was I was looking for in our first conversation. When he did the work for me, he had everything I needed (without ever seeing the space) and it took him just about an hour. He clearly knows what he's doing. He's friendly, easy going, and professional.

HI folks

I contracted Lights Out to install two new light fixtures and switches, and to replace one older fixture. We had a number of unusual issues, such as old live gas lines that were once used for gas lamps, and a medallion we wanted to keep intact throughout the installation, etc. Once Brett had a look he determined the major features and issues we had pretty quickly. Once we scheduled the job, his crew (Shad and Felix) were incredibly professional, respectful, and knowledgeable. Their expertise in mounting fixtures in older buildings really came in handy and resulted in first rate work. I would also recommend Santi for the follow-on patch up work if needed, after he was done you couldn't tell any work on the walls or ceilings had occurred. Like new!

If you live in an old Victorian/Edwardian, I would highly recommend these guys,

Called Brett based on all the positive yelp reviews when I had a breaker out of place and an issue with my bathroom light fixture. He was responsive, showed up on time for our appointment (and called ahead to let me know he was on his way) and fixed the problem quickly. He was also friendly and professional and educated me on some basic useful principles. Great reliable service at a reasonable price. Would not hesitate to contact Lights Out again.

This was a TERRIBLE experience, and surprisingly so.  One of the two hanging lights in our kitchen blew out and needed to be fixed.  In short:

1.  After they figured out the problem, the first time they came back to fix it THEY CAME WITH THE WRONG PARTS.  So, I took off work for no reason and wasted my time.  All I got for this was an apology but no offer to reduce my bill based on their mistake.

2.  The next time they came back, they told me they would be there at 9:30.  Instead, they came at 10.  Again, wasting my time when I could be making a living.  Apparently, none of Light's Out's customers have jobs or their time is unimportant.

3.  When they did come, they did not buy the parts we requested so they could not drop the lights lower.  This was something that Brett originally suggested we do and we agreed.  He then said that we never ordered those parts.  Of course, he never drafted  an invoice from the beginning so there would be no confusion.  That left us with a he said-she said and with Light's Out, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG.  And, again, the outfit who originally brought the wrong parts and could not show up on time was right and my wife and I were both mistaken as to what we ordered.  Yeah right.

4.  When all of this happened, Brett couldn't even be bothered to discuss it with me personally.  Instead, he had his employee report his position to me.  When I told the employee how disappointed I was in how this was all turning out, guess what Brett said to me in response.  NOTHING.  Yep, radio silence.  He couldn't be bothered to talk to me personally.

Frankly, there are a lot of electricians out there and this behavior was egregiously unprofessional.  Please do not waste your time and money, like I did, when there are so many other choices out there.  And as I'm the most recent comment, I hope you take it seriously if you are choosing an electrician now.

Brett is simply one great electrician, reliable, competent, capable, thoughtful and intelligent.  You'll have to get used to the idea that your electrician has the build of a linebacker and a degree from Columbia.  But once past that hurdle, you'll use him every time!

Brett came into my business and quickly assessed what was wrong with my lighting.  I had recently bought a 15 yrs old business and the previous owner had rigged the fluorescent light s in a way that I had never seen before.
Brett had the ballast replaced  and the new lights in ASAP.
I have a small printing business and viewing printed material under the correct light is essential.  Brett recommended a solution that fit my budget and solved my problems.
I wouldn't say Brett is the cheapest electrician in town, but if you explain your dilemma up front you get more than your money's worth.

After reading the Yelp reviews, we called Brett to help us fix our doorbells, both of which had smoked like mad during a party when the doorbell button had gotten stuck. Although he typically works primarily on lighting, he squeezed us in within two days, showed up on time, and had it all fixed in about half an hour -- including his trip to the local hardware store to replace one of the doorbells. He even helped us fix our 1930s-era mechanism -- not really in his job description but he was able to troubleshoot it and fix it with some well-placed WD40. For the first time since we bought the house, the doorbell sounds loud and beautiful. I'd recommend him to anyone!

A few days ago I used Brett for the second time in eighteen months.  I recommend him highly without any reservations.

Scheduling an appointment with Brett is easy and best accomplished by phone.  Brett arrives on time with all of the tools and supplies needed for the work that was discussed.

Brett is personable, professional and efficient.  When planning the work, he will suggest solutions that are the best fit and cost-effective for your situation.  Brett will perform both large AND small jobs with equal diligence and attentiveness - a service rarely found in the bay area.  He is flexible and will work closely with you to ensure complete satisfaction.

I believe Brett's fees are fair and reasonable for the work he does.  Repeat customers are the core of a professional's business, and I am happy to count myself among that group for Brett.  I am confident that I will be calling Brett again in the future as I have been very pleased with his services.. and I expect that you will be too!

I'm. So. Happy.

We finally found an electrician who (a) showed up on time, (b) didn't charge an arm and a leg, and (c) was able to fix our very finicky kitchen lights. Brett is a very professional electrician who has fixed all of our electrical issues so far, and he's nice to boot.

Give him a whirl, you won't be disappointed.

Brett is simply the best. He's the most competent electrician I've ever worked with, and also the nicest. It's so clear that he's uniquely intelligent, plus the guy really loves lighting! He's got great ideas to make your space look better at any price point and then he just makes it happen.

It is hard to find an electrician that will do the small stuff and do it well.  Brett was a pleasure to work and took care of both of my small jobs quickly and cost effectively.  He replaced our broken doorbells in the building, switched out a light and then I had him come back to install a new outlet in the garage.  He called both times in advance to confirm our appointment and then showed up on time in both instances!  He's definitely one of the good guys out there.

Brett is terrific. We've used him for years, and he is always prompt, courteous, and most important, extremely good at what he does. Most recently, we had what we thought was a dead electrical line in the house. Brett was scheduled to come by but gave us some suggestions in the interim on how we might be able to fix it ourselves. Sure enough, his advice was pure gold, and we ended up fixing the line and not needing Brett to come by at all.

Houses age, along with all the components inside them. Just be glad that when they do, you have someone as gifted and pleasant as Brett to repair or replace them.

After asking for recommendations from friends and calling a few other electricians in the city that would either not call back or had really high quotes, I finally called LIghts Out after seeing their high rating on yelp.  We needed some more outlets installed.

Here's what I liked about them:

1.  Responsive and gave an estimate over the phone that was spot on.
2.  They were able to schedule us quickly!
3.  Work went smoothly!
4.  Easy to work with.

They definitely guarantee their work.  When a wire went loose that caused some of the new outlets to work, Brett came back personally ASAP to fix it and they made sure all was good.  Brett also noticed we had no light in our living room and he suggested they add one and talked through the options with me.  He thought there was wiring for one but it had just been patched over.  He was right!  We ended up adding it and it was so easy.

Overall, I thought everything went as easily as you could have hoped.  I would highly recommend them and would definitely use them again if I ever need more work done.

These guys are great.  I had three electrical issues to be resolved.  Brett fixed one of them gratis over the phone (without even making me feel dumb for not figuring it out myself, heh), and when Shad and Felix arrived they tag-teamed the other two which turned out to be more complicated.

In about an hour and a half they diagnosed and fixed a poorly-wired three-way switch, and also repurposed a ground wire to replace a bad neutral that had a problem somewhere in a long conduit between my garage and back stairs.  They also took the time to answer my questions so I could see what they fixed, which I always appreciate.

I was having another contractor over on the same day, and Brett even moved my appt to accommodate that.  I was a bit confused about what the rates would be (may have been Brett's explanation, or maybe I was distracted) but what I paid in the end seemed very reasonable for the work performed.  And the lights on the back stairs work now so my wife thinks I'm a hero.  Win win.

I have had the pleasure of working with Brett & his staff for the last 4 years on everything from changing bulbs in high loft ceilings I couldn't access, hunting down difficult to replace parts, to redoing the lighting in my current loft, adding electrical and fan, remotes, etc.  In other words small jobs to larger.  At all times Brett has been 100% professional, helpful, pleasant and dedicated to assuring a final product I am pleased with both functionally & aesthetically.  Appointments are kept as set up and I always received a call prior to appointment to let me know if there was a delay and how long as well as just to let me know he/they were on their way. I have recommended Brett & Lights Out to several neighbors and friends with no reservation in doing so.  Should I have further electrical needs Brett will be the only call I make.

Do not be fulled by his pleasant personality and his promises.  Hire somebody else!   This is why.  I hired Brett 4 months ago to do track lights for my office in Downtown San Francisco.  He gave me the most expansive estimate, but offered a professional advise on how it should be done right.  I am a business owner and consider myself an expert in my field, so I would pay extra for a professional advise and job done right, so I hired him.  We are a medical/chiropractic clinic and the1st patient comes at 8am.  The workers came early, 6am, but they did not finish the front office because instead of parking in a garage, they kept on running down the street to feed the meeter.  I ended up with three tracks and there is one or two lights on each in the front office. it looks funny.  I had to spend 20 minutes to set up the right light intensity and color for the front office and the hallway.  The rest of the rooms are O.K and the light is pleasant.  When he sent me the bill, he added a $50 charge for naming the building as an additionally insured on his insurance policy, and lying that the insurance co. charges him.  I called his insurance who assured me that they do not charge for additionally insured.   Really cheep way do make a buck, don't you think?  Then he would not accept credit cards, the bill was over $2500.  A reputable business would have a way to accept cc, pay pall, anthing else other than chek and cash, don't you think?  It took him two weeks to set up a pay pall account under a friend's name, and this is how I paid.  Very unconforable situation at the end.  I would not hire him again and you should not either.

We just bought a new home and wanted to move our TV mount and cables from one wall to another. I called 6 electricians before I found Brett - most of which didn't call me back, and those that did told me that they don't do TV-related work. Brett was responsive, confident, and was able to schedule the work quickly (no three-week waiting times). They arrived on time and did an excellent job. Brett followed up after the work was completed. Great service, will definitely call him again when we need help and will refer friends in the meantime. Thank you!

I had remodeled about 5 years ago and had been trying (unsucessfully) to get my old contractor to come by and look at some problems.. I finally called Brett after reviewing several other electricians on Yelp as well as one other electrician with the BBB.  I had been living with several annoying problems for between several months to a couple of years and hadn't gotten around to calling anyone, mostly out of concern for cost.  The biggest problem, or at least what I perceived to be a big problem, Brett solved over the phone for me...!  And, here I'd been living with this situation for months, had already tried several things, spent $50 trying different things....!  And, within 5 minutes, he talked me through the problem!  That was enough for me to have him come by and look at my other two annoying things, one was replacing the guts of one of the sconces in a bathroom vanity, which he did in under 30 minutes for less than $86.  The other problem was replacing under cabinetry light that had been running hot for months.  I thought it was going to be a nightmare to fix.  Again, he managed to do it in less than 30 minutes and replace the 3 lights.  That cost less that $108 (time and materials).  I'm having him come back again to install a ceiling fan in the master bedroom.  This guy is great!  I almost don't want to post because I'm afraid he'll become too popular!

Really pleased with Brett, Shad and their crew. Total pros.  What a relief.  We had a bunch of old wiring, broken doorbells & buzzers that stretched a long distance, old lock issues & a recent break in.  I called Brett, on recommendation of my brother-in-law. Brett is easy & efficient to work with.  He determined who was best for our job, we exchanged a few photos since our job was a bit unusual, they showed up on time and had the job done perfectly in a very short period of time.  I love it when things go this smoothly.  Thanks Brett!  We will be using Lights Outs services again & recommending you guys to all of our friends. brett is the best!  i wouldn't even consider calling anyone else - i don't even care (to be honest) what his price is (at this point i wouldn't even look for other bids) - you KNOW the job will be properly done, fully explained to you & he handles all the little hassle-y stuff that i wouldn't have thought of.  in short - he does it all.  (including letting my children watch him while working, as though he's a rock star...which in the world of lighting - he is!)

plus, he's prompt, polite, just a joy to work with.  the kicker - who else has an ivy league educated lighting guy!  :)  i definitely recommend him as highly as possible!

I called Brett about installing some sconces. He gave me an estimate very quickly and then, when it seemed like a pretty expensive option, he suggested another less expensive but equally effective alternative, including a website I could use to find the right product.
