Established in 2011.
JL Martinez Plumbing was established with the intent of providing expert plumbing and honest business, so we decided from our grand opening to always provide our customers with total job cost pricing. We have since that day work side by side with our customers to stay within their budget which has gained us referral after referral and repeat business.

Hello, I'm Jose Martinez founder of JL Martinez Plumbing Inc. Since 1999 I have provided plumbing services to the greater San Diego area.

After years of working for other plumbing companies, I felt a special calling to become a plumbing contractor. Being highly adept in every part of the plumbing profession, I am now able to offer my expertise through my own company.

Jose saved us! We were having a regular lazy Sunday afternoon at home when I caught a faint whiff of gas. As we all know, this is NEVER a good thing. Long story short, we ended up with a HUGE issue and a major gas leak at our house. Jose came to our rescue and was able to redo our gas lines in our home. He took great care of us and tackled a huge job in a very timely manner. I highly recommend JL Martinez Plumbing for all of your plumbing needs!

Jose and I spoke about a month ago. He agreed to come out and give me a quote for new detached ADU plumbing. He never showed up and didn't contact me until month after we spoke. His excuse was that he was too busy with other jobs. I wasn't playing when I contacted him! That's so unprofessional and disrespectful. When he contacted me after a month, I told him that I already have quotes. I told him that he can still give me his quote, but he refused! What joke! Definitely not recommended.

I called in the morning about a drain backing up into the tub, and Jose along with his apprentice trainee arrived the same day to fix the problem. They both had a very professional demeanor and got the job done quickly. They cleaned/sanitized the bathtub before leaving and were very careful about their work. I would call Jose again without hesitation for plumbing issues and would recommend him 100%.

Amazing! Jose was a true professional. His workmanship was flawless and best of all quick. I have dealt with many plumbers over the course of the years and many of them do an ok job, but Jose did amazing. He replaced a faulty valve assembly for my shower and also included a new drainspout to ensure no problems returned. I will definitely be recommending him to everyone I know.

I had a need for a plumber as we noticed water on the floor of our main bathroom. I did my homework and found JL Martinez and decided to call them as they have great reviews. I was not disappointed. Jose came out and looked at the problem and advised me the route to go for repairs. Jose and his crew had to come to my house several times and were always so professional and dependable. Jose is great.
A small fitting on an outside water outlet broke off and water was spraying everywhere. I had to turn off the water to my house. And I started to look for a plumber to help - I needed a better one than I had used previously. I found Jose and saw good reviews on Yelp so I called and made an appointment for later in the afternoon.
I got text confirmations and Jose called when on his way. He was exactly on time.
He is friendly and personable.
The price was quite reasonable.
The entire process, from making the appointment to having the problem fixed to making the payment was easy.

Very pleased with this company. Jose was very professional and took pride in his work. He did not cut corners. He responded to our water heater emergency without hesitation and worked in extreme heat for several hours. I called Jose to do hydro jetting, a service suggested by my other favorite plumber, Duane Moore. Jose was the right man for the job. Very personable, and COMPLETELY PROFESSIONAL. The hydro jetting absolutely solved the problem of our backed up line and non usable kitchen sink. I recommend them to anyone needing hydro jetting! Now I know two great plumbers!

I cannot say enough about how amazing Jose and JL Martinez Plumbing is!! We had tenants who flushed everything you can imagine down the toilet. The pump was completely overflowing. I called Jose on a Sunday and he took the time to talk with us about the problem. We originally called the plumbers who installed the pump and they wanted an outrageous amount to replace everything. Jose came out quickly and was able to salvage the parts and get everything working again. We saved so much money working with Jose. So grateful for an honest, ethical and knowledgeable plumber. I wish I could give J L Martinez Plumbing 10 stars!!
I have had Jose come out for 4 different plumbing jobs. From fixing a leak, to installing a new water heater, to replacing a tub in my bathroom. Each and every time he has been dependable, honest and professional. Jose makes sure he explains everything about the job to you as well as putting it in writing and sticking to his price. My one day job turned into 3 because of the condition of my bathroom, but he stuck it out and stuck to his original price and did a beautiful job. He is most concerned that the job is done right and that he leaves you more than satisfied with his work.
Jose is very knowledgeable about codes and makes sure he does everything properly and up to code. I never feel as if I am being cheated with him. He stayed until 10 pm for my emergency water heater issue just to make sure I at least had water until we could replace the heater.

Jose was prompt in answering my call when my sewer line was backed up and came early the next day after my call and this was after he had worked on 320 condominium building with multiple gas leaks. He quickly diagnosed the problem and got my sewer cleaned in no time. I highly recommend him for any of your residential needs. Check out the tree branches he pulled out of the sewer!!

I just had some work done on my plumbing in my kitchen and bathroom. Jose called 30 minutes before coming out to my house to the work on the backup. I have not been able to use my bathroom sink for almost a year. I have has 2 other plumbers out to work on the bathroom sink and was told that there was nothing that could be done to fix it with taring up the wall. Jose came in and fixed the backup in the kitchen. Then he repaired my bathroom sink also. Now I can use it on a daily basis.

Jose is outstanding! I had a problem with one of my toilet valve. He came and fix it gave me a ton of good advise and with his 13 years of experience he knows a lot about plumbing. He even checked my water pressure and gave me a lesson on how my water regulator works. I really recommend him for for any plumbing job big or small. Very honest and reasonable rates.

I contacted Jose for a plumbing leak detection and repair. Jose went above and beyond to get the repair done. This repair took some time, as we had to have asbestos removal. He always responded and did his best to get the job done in a timely manner. I would definitely use him again for any plumbing issues.

I've never left a review for a service provider who did absolutely nothing (he did plenty!), but I'm compelled to do so for José.

Short review: Save yourself time scouring for the right plumber. José is it!!!

Long review: My grandmother lives in a historic home with 100 year-old gas pipes. She isn't experiencing any leaks, but still wanted to get a professional to look at them to see if she needed to replace them before a problem occurred. Other plumbers happily obliged to replace the pipes without any testing. José treated her like his own mom and told her to save her money for now. He educated us on proper diagnostics for gas issues, showed us how to read the meter ourselves, and what to look for should a problem arise. He generously gave his time and expertise.

José feels like your old-school, hard working, honest provider who really knows his stuff. They're a rare breed these days.

Jose was able to clear a tub drain that two other plumbing companies could not. I thought we would have to do extensive slab or drywall work, but Jose felt he would be able to clear it without doing so. Booked appt. to repair main line 2 days in advance. Appt. was at noon. When they didn't show up I called and left messages. Finally a few hours later I got ahold of Jose, he said he was on another job, said he could not come out to fix it. Totally irresponsible behavior. Claims all plumbers are busy right now, that's his excuse for not making his appointment which I scheduled with him the day before. You can't trust Jose Martinez when you book with him, if he gets another job, he will just blow yours off without even a call.

Jose has taken care of plumbing issues for me on multiple occasions. He always does outstanding work and if you have any questions he makes sure to answer them. If it is something that he feels like you could do on your own he will give you advice as to how to do it and will save you a lot of money.

Don't waste time calling any other plumbers! Jose saved me HUNDREDS of dollars by being upfront and honest with me and telling me what I most likely needed for my leaky toilet were a couple of cheap parts that I could get at Home Depot and my husband and I could fix the problem ourselves (my husband has tinkered with the toilet before; he is very handy). He took the time to show me examples of what parts he was talking about. Then after he'd left, he texted me, wished my husband and me Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and said if we get stuck on the repair give him a call and he would be happy to walk us through it. I truly appreciate Jose's honesty and transparency. I wish other contractors were like him. I know who I will call if I ever have another plumbing issue.

I had been struggling with plumbing issues for months and was beyond relieved when Jose and his team came to assess the situation. Jose and his team got right to work and I was very pleased how quickly they fixed the problem. They made sure keep me informed every step of the way. Most importantly, they were beyond respectful of my apartment. They made sure to wear boot covers on the carpet and asked if it would be okay to access different parts of the apartment. Jose made time for my 82 year old right away. She had an underground leak which could have easily turned into having to tear up the pavement in order to fix. Jose found a creative way to avoid that and get my family hot water right away. He was responsive and worked with us around money. Plumbing in general is super expensive so it wasn't cheap. But I trust that Jose gave us the best deal possible. Very kind and reliable.

Jose made the painful part of being a homeowner and replacing a bad water heater a little less painful. He came to my house free of charge to look at the issue. Then came back today (SUNDAY) to fix it and didn't charge me anything more. He replaced the water heater and snaked my drains. He worked for almost six hours and only charged me for 4 and also discounted the drains. He explained everything he was doing and why it was important. He knew all the requirements of the county and helped me to understand everything he did and why. He saved me time and money, he was incredibly personable, friendly, and professional. I felt confident he was honest with me and would highly recommend him. And the best part is that it turns out he is actually one of my neighbors. I love SD, such a big but small city. and now I love the peace of mind that I have such a great and honest plumber right around the corner from me.

These guys are some really stand up dudes! After finding myself home alone while the rest of my family was out of town hearing nothing but water running 24 seven I began to freak out. I thought there's no way I can have water running inside this house somewhere while I'm here by myself. After hearing it for a full night I called JL Martinez Plumbing at 6:45am. I fully expected to get the answering machine but wanted to make my calls before I headed into work for the day. They answered the phone right away. They were kind, great listeners, understanding, and willing to get me in that very day. They even FaceTime to me as I took them to the different water shut off valves as well as the water meter out front to lead me through some things I could do on my own before they could get here. Upon arrival they walked around and were super honest with the fact that it turns out my husband had just left the faucet to fill the pool barely open. With how bad I was freaking out, these guys could've totally taken advantage of the situation and made a couple bucks. Instead they were kind, jovial, and super honest. A real joy to be around. I will absolutely use them in the future! Thanks boys!!

We developed a leak in the middle of the yard. I contacted Jose and he came out the same day. Very knowledgeable and gave me different options on remedying the issue. His leak detection equipment is state of the art, same stuff the water companies use when they come out to mark your lines. I can't say enough good stuff about Jose and JL Martinez plumbing. I needed a repair on a gas pipe hook up for my dryer and I needed it quick! I looked around for someone who could do it next day and Jose (the owner) did not hesitate when I called him and was a savior! He came over and not only got the job done efficiently and by the book but was very personable and answered all of my questions. Originally, asked JL Plumbing (that I found on the road in the 1st picture) to come out and install new toilets we just bought. As soon as Josh walked into my garage where I stored the new toilets, he smelled gas. I had installed a new dryer the week before by a family member. So Josh brought his foam thing (picture 2) then detected a gas leak. He worked on it for a few hours to replace stuffs and fix it. This prevented a future possible accident given we park our truck there.
Then came time the next day to install the toilet. Then Josh noticed a build up in the pipe (pic 3). Then he had to go under our house to replace a pipe of that toilet. That took another few hours until 730pm.
Then finally today, he brought the snake camera to inspect our pipe and found build up that will need a scrapping ( we will do that down the line). He also brought a gas sniffer that he used all around our dryer, water heater and pipe to detect more leak but al clear, no detection.
To say that Josh went above and beyond for our house in the past 3 days would be an understatement. On top of that, he took time to clearly and thoroughly explained everything to us and also put Jose on the phone for further clarification.

This Team is THE BEST PLUMBING COMPANY , and San Diego is lucky to have them.

I've had Jose (and his other plumber Josh) come to the house for various problems and have always been really happy with their work. Jose is always super responsive, and when I had a difficult problem he suggested multiple ways to fix it. We had them most recently descale our old cast iron pipes and they were here until 7pm making sure they did a good and thorough job. He even took me through every step and showed me on video what he was doing and what the problems were. Can't highly recommend enough.

LOOK ! im going to get straight to the point , one plumber charged me 15,000$ for a job, and Jose said No ! Their crazy, he beat them by almost 6,000 $ !!! I can't make this up !! these guys get the job done and done fast , they are on it Jose is your go to plumber, anything you need this guy is on it ! We had a plumbing emergency on a Sunday night on a holiday weekend and contacted Jose ( the owner.) He actually answered the phone on first call! Not like others that never call back, even though they are supposed to be 24 hour care.
He had Josh come out at 9pm. Josh had to snake to the street twice. He wasn't going to give up! Both Jose and Josh are very professional, knowledgeable , and pleasant. Jose's prices are very reasonable , especially for after hours.

We have a new plumber!!!! We would refer J.L. Martinez Plumbing to everybody!

Jose even called the next morning to make sure we were happy with everything!

Jose did a great job on slab leak at home. It was not easy task as the job was going to be perform was laying an entire new water line from water meter to main valve home entrance. The price and quality of the job was from inception excellent. I will recommend him 100%he explain in detail and received a quote in detail of the job to be done. The job was done without an extra cost on braking drive way or concrete. He use a skill technique to run the pipe under the slab. Impressive. Thank you. Jose is great. He is always so positive and pleasant to deal with. He really to a ton of time to learn about tge plumbing industry inside and out. He has a ton of cerificates and has educated himself profusely.

I had a plumbing emergency, as a pipe busted in my wall. Initially I tried to go through my home warranty company ( bad decision ), but the plumber they sent our way could not find the leak. From there I decided to call Jose as I happen to insure his company. He was at my house in 30 mins, and found the leak shortly after. He replaced the pipe with ease, and all our concerns were put to rest.
