I got a notice from the Lake Arrowhead water district that my water meter was moving and no one was home. I checked around the house and found my water heater in the buildup area leaking from the top. I called Jim and told him I needed a 50 gallon water heater replacement. He moved a couple of appointments around so he could come over on a Saturday morning. He showed up on time and assessed the problem, only to find out that the 50 gallon water heater would not fit through the access door. He left and came back with a 40 gallon that would fit. The uninstall and re-install proved to be extremely difficult due to the small space and galvanized pipe. He did a wonderful, clean, and professional job. Thanks Jim!!!!!!

Jim has been so amazing!  We have a vacation rental up in Lake Arrowhead and since we don't live there we are so happy that we have someone that is dependable and that we can trust.  He is so detailed and we just really respect and like him so much!! We wished he worked down in Orange County so we could use him on our primary residence.  We really really like him and his work!

We've always had Jim do all of our plumbing work at our house in Lake Arrowhead. We recently had him put in a water heater for us. He's always done a great job at a fair price. He is very dependable.  I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a plumber in the area.

After realizing that I had a frozen pipe at my house, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jim. Upon telling me about how backed up he was with appointments for the same problem, he proceeded to walk me through a few ideas to help possibly solve the problem. Unfortunately it did require an appointment, which Jim was exactly on time for, and found the issue after some digging. Jim also suggested some preventative measures, and was very thorough in his inspection. I honestly can't recommend Hilman's highly enough, competitive prices, prompt service, and Jim is just a flat out, super nice guy. I'll be using him for any plumbing work in the future, just a pleasurable experience all around.

Jim is AWESOME and I will definitely call on him again.  I have a Rinnai wall heater and called him for its annual service.  Jim was so accommodating of my very limited schedule - he shuffled his schedule around in order to come out to the house when I could be there.  Jim is communicative, prompt, courteous, responsive, professional, knowledgeable and this list could go on.  He is very knowledgeable of the Rinnai wall heaters - he gave me a tip of how to adjust the wooden decorator cabinet surrounding the heater in order to maximize the air flow.  My neighbor was over visiting when Jim arrived and she realized she had had him come to her home for a problem with her kitchen sink drain and she was completely happy with his work.  It is so nice to have a dependable contractor I can rely on.  You won't be disappointed - call Jim for your plumbing/heating needs!!!

I live 100 miles from my mouuntain home and i had to find a plumber on line to fix a crascked filter on my tankless water heater. I was fortunate enough to find Jim Hilman. I only talked to him on the phone, but he was able to fix my problem promptly and for a fair price,. Jim is very responsive and kept me informed of his progress.

I just had Jim Hilman of Hilman's Plumbing come out to fix a leak at my vacation home.  He was very professional, friendly and gave great customer service.  He quickly found the leak, made the repair and left everything neat and clean.  His prices were very fair and in my opinion he went above and beyond my expectations.  I would recommended him strongly.

Jim Hilman is awesome. He was recommended by another plumber once I uttered the words tankless water heater. He is very knowledgeable and will answer any question (legit or stupid)you have. I had a problematic outside tankless water heater break and he was able to explain why it broke (shouldn't be outside in this climate) and gave me options on how to replace. The install was done very clean and looks great in my garage. The man knows his stuff and I'll continue to use him for any other plumbing needs.

Showed up wearing a mask on time. Very polite, professional, on time and most important, honest. Jim could have charged me for something I thought I needed but didn't. Left the place cleaner than when he got there and finished everything on the list and then some. Could not be happier. Will definitely use again if I need plumbing work.

I seldom write reviews but I have discovered a gem in our community. Our garbage disposal broke and started leaking. I called Jim Hilman, amazingly he came that same day. Mr Hilman replaced my disposal quickly, with no mess, and surprisingly affordable. I am now sharing his number with many of our friends.

Jim really knows his craft.  I recently moved to the mountains and thought I needed to replace my tankless water heater.  When he came out he called the manufacturer and was able to verify that the unit was only two years old.  With some adjustments to the installation and to the unit itself it runs like new.  Thanks Jim.

Fantastic job! I had an issue with an outdoor faucet that leaked into my office whenever your turned it on. Jim came out and diagnosed the issue to a burst pipe. I neglected to disconnect the hose during winter... ;-(

Within 45 minutes to issue was fixed and no more water leaking into my office.

Jim is great to work with and clearly knows how to do things right.  He is helping us fix, and properly set up a water shut off system. He is certainly someone I will go to first when I have plumbing needs.  Especially nice to work with such a personable, responsive guy too.

Waited two months to get a repair done after he came out and diagnosed the problem.  Two months of waiting and I called him to find out that the part had come in the week before but he hadn't bothered to let me know.  It took him less than 10 minutes to replace the part.  Shocked when I got the bill and discovered that he had charged me over $70 to make some phone calls.  Will not use him or recommend him again.

I had just purchased a foreclosed home.   We knew there was a leak in the wall somewhere as it was coming down into the basement.I had a home warranty & the insurance company wanted to send someone from down the hill to fix it.  After learning that it would take them at least a week to get up the mountain to simply give it a look, we asked Mr. Hilman to help us out.  He was in the home a day after we requested his services, and found several issues within the walls and submitted a very very reasonable quote.  

We agreed to the scope of the work he set a date, went in, completed the work and stayed perfectly on budget (even though he found & fixed some extra items - faulty wax seal on toilet & kitchen leak).   This house in the mountains had never had a main shut-off installed nor did it have a drain valve or a properly functioning TPR valve.  All bathrooms had leaks of some form or another as did the kitchen.  He worked with our schedule & even helped me field calls and explain to the insurance company the specifics of the job.He was very professional and explained to me what and why each joy was being done.  

He is amazing to work with and as honest as the day is long.  I would recommend his company to anyone looking for an awesome plumber.

To clarify, i have a house in Twin Peaks. Service was for that location where I saw your vehicles, not West Covina. I wouldnt expect you to drive an hour when i have 1000's of plumbers near me. And if i describe the whole situation i needed, which was pretty basic, you would remember the several calls and messages i have left for you. This is the right review for the right company.

Extremely conscientious and knowledgeable. If our schedules had  meshed I would have used them. Have used them before in past years and have been highly satisfied.

If you are looking for someone that takes great pride in their work, look no further.  Jim Hillman is not only a great plumber, but an amazing and totally honest professional.  He returns calls promptly, works efficiently, and has very fair pricing for the work he completes.  Jim is never in a hurry to get finished and move on to the next house...his philosophy is to take the time necessary to get to the root of the problem and complete the job.  Then when you receive your bill you will also be pleasantly surprised because it is very fair for the quality of work received.  I will continue to use Jim Hillman for our plumbing needs and would gladly recommend him to anyone!

Jim Hilman is hands down the best plumber I've ever worked with. He's incredibly communicative and excellent at his craft. We had a problematic toilet and Jim was able to come out the same week and not only fixed the problem we had, but also went out of his way to keep another problem from cropping up (lets just say frozen pipes in winter are nothing to joke around with - and neither is massive flooding). He went above and beyond the call of duty. And he's one of the nicest guys I've ever spoken to as well. If you have any sort of plumbing issue in the Lake Arrowhead area -- CALL HIM. He's the best of the best.

Extremely disappointed does not begin to describe how I feel after recommending this individual to my recently widowed mother.  He got lost, although he lives on the mountain, was routinely rude to my mom on the phone and in person once he arrived.  She's trying her best, and frankly her address shows correctly with exact accuracy on Google Maps.  He spoke very kindly with my mom's caregiver and then was very condescending to my mom.  She called me in TEARS after he left, talking about how he made her feel belittled and reprimanded her that she needs to learn how to give directions. Maybe he needs to learn how to use Google instead! Maybe he needs a lesson in patience and understanding.... in common decency, respect and basic customer service.

I contacted Hilman Plumbing when our water heater went out. When Jim, the owner of Hilman plumbing came out, I found him to be knowledgeable, professional, honest, did excellent work and followed through on commitments he made. If you have plumbing needs, I recommend you call Hilman's  Plumbing.

Unreliable plumber.  We discussed doing some work and he suggested I buy the item to be installed and after I purchased it he would not reply to my multiple requests for an installation.  Very disappointed.  I would not recommend him.

Found Jim Hilman through google search which led to Yelp which led to who had the best reviews.  Jim did.  He was easy to reach, he was quick to respond, he came and fixed the problem(s) (even the ones that seemed insurmountable);  and even helped find someone else to fix other problems unrelated to his field of expertise.  What a blessing!  Just what we needed at the exact time since our schedule and availability were very limited. We have used Jim Hilman exclusively since he moved here from Canada.  He is prompt, reliable, and honest.  With his experience in Canada you can't find a more informed expert when it comes to winterizing your home.  Today Jim came out to fix numerous fractures in the plastic drain lines.  These cracks were the result of some shoddy work another plumber in Crestline did for us ten years ago.

As an added note you should understand that Hilman's Plumbing does not hire a bunch of wannabe plumbers to cover his calls.  When you call Hilman's Plumbing you will get a real plumber, Jim Hilman, himself.

I have used numerous plumbers in Crestline over the years and found Hilman's Plumbing to be far superior than anyone else on the mountain.

Needed a plumber in Lake Arrowhead to stop a toilet leak and repair our bath tub shower. Jim followed up my telephone call promptly and kept to the appointment time. He was thorough and very knowledgeable.  He had all parts on his truck and was able to complete our repairs in less than an hour.  I felt that he was honest and reasonable.  I recommend his services highly, and will definitely call him again for all other plumbing problems.

Really nice- on time, very reasonably priced and did a great job!   So happy!!   Definitely going to use this guy next time I need any plumbing done.  I had previously contacted a different  plumber who was set to do the work but wanted three times what Hilman's charged me. (This other company's guy wanted the afternoon off so quoted astronomical amount and pretty much ran out of my house- the job was replacing 3 toilets.).

We called on Jim Hilman on the recommendation of our neighbor, Ray .He installed a water cut off valve for the house which was not there when we bought our house 7 months ago. Jim was professional, rates were reasonable and work done well.We will be calling Jim again if anything should arise!

It is wonderful to know you have found a craftsman that you can trust. Jim Hillman has been to my house several times over the last couple of years. He has flushed my tankless water heater, installed new faucets, and repaired my garbage disposal. He is always on time, fixes my problems, and charges fairly. I recommend him highly and without reservation..

Wow! Mr. Hillman is the best tradesman I have dealt with on the mountain. Great communication (even while he was on vacation), super problem -solving  skills, excellent work product, and reasonable prices. He moved a gas line for a oven install, installed a dishwasher, garbage disposal, kitchen faucet, and refrigerator ice maker line. The gas line, ice maker line, and dishwasher install all required some out of the box thinking to do and Mr. Hillman successfully figure out each. He actually had to restructure our dishwasher back wheel and support to be able to get the dishwasher in the cabinet flush as it should be. We will have him back to replace shower/tub fixtures next. Also, we recently pitched this home to remodel and it turns out Mr. Hillman coincidently installed our water heater. It works  great, not a scratch on it, and is a good quality unit. Ask him to tell you about his training and how he became a plumber. Great story and explains why he is as good at his job as he is and why I will only use him in the future.

Jim did an outstanding job replacing our water heater. He not only put a new one in, he made improvements to our system that needed to be done.  Very clear explanation of the work and very patient.

I am a Real Estate in Lake Arrowhead and my seller on Calgary Drive needed to get some repairs done I order to close her escrow. It was old shower valves and a main water line valve. Jim did it when he said he would and his price was fair. I highly recommend Jim for your plumbing needs on the mountain!

Jim was a life savor! Not only did he come when he said he would, he communicated every step of the way. It is very hard to find reliable, honest and good work in the mountains but I can honestly say Jim is the best we have found. We will be using him for all our plumbing issues and if u are smart u will too.

Jim at Hilman's again 10/14 when he did some gas plumbing for Buck Energy.  Once again Jim was out timely, did AWESOME work and was very reasonable. Jim is very kind and helpful and is honest and up front regarding the work and prices.  I would not hesitate to recommend Jim for any plumbing need.

I just had Jim Hilman out to replace my water heater. He was in and out in no time flat, and the installation is very solid and professional. Speaking with Jim, it's obvious that he knows his business, and I have no doubt this installation will serve me well for years to come.

My water heater wasn't working and even with a busy schedule, he made time to swing by. Even then he checked another unit that wasn't working.

What impressed me most was how nice he was and how professional he was. He was so thorough and knew his stuff!  He didn't just do the one job, he stood by and checked around to make sure the overall integrity was good. He tries to find ways for to be cost effective. He is greatly appreciated!

Jim is such a nice person and great plumber. He's installed a few things for me and most recently came to the rescue on a Saturday when I had an emergency leak situation.  He is so nice to talk to and seems like he really cares about what he does and his customers. It's great to have a local plumber that you can trust and call on when you have a question or concern!

As new homeowner's in the beautiful mountain town  of Lake Arrowhead, we are just beginning to find and use the local tradesmen for house upgrades and routine maintenance.  

So far, the experience has been mostly good.  There have been a couple of times when I felt like we were paying an unspoken initiation fee for being two senior citizens new in the community.  

That is why I rely on Yelp's helpful reviews.  It is really great to find a solid tradesman or company to rely on down the road.

Jim Hilman is the best-of-the-best!

I was concerned  about our old 2003 water heater, located way down in a buildup area under the house.   Not being full time residents, a failed 50 gallon tank would really be a mess.

Jim came out in the pouring rain last February, gave us a detailed estimate, and showed us pictures of his  work.  He was very booked at the time, so we put off the install.   I called him last week and  he re-arranged his schedule to make time for us.

Let me just say, the man is an artist!  He arrived on time and prepared!  I took note of his well stocked truck and got a chuckle out of his tool carrier, every screwdriver perfectly lined up!

The old and new tanks had to be moved down some steep steps, which Jim handled himself, seemingly with ease.  And, of course my wife was concerned about tank leakage on her white carpet.  Jim had several plastic tarps on hand to solve that potential problem.

The actual install was uneventful for us as homeowners while Jim did his magic under the house.

When the job was complete, Jim gave me drainage and operation instructions for the new heater and made me aware of all its features.

All in all, it was a painless experience and was well worth the money.  And, Jim's price was comparable to what we paid for a new heater in Orange County last year.

And did I mention that Jim is probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet?

Jim is great. If you need a honest plumber that will do what they say and not try to take advantage of you. Jim is your plumber. I'll use Jim again for sure.

Don't look any further on the mountain for a fair honest man. Jim has worked for us several times and his work is outstanding with a fair price. He responds very quickly and always has what he needs with him. The job is always done correct when he leaves and doesn't have to return. He has fixed many things that were done incorrectly by other people up here so just use him the first time and get it done right.

We called Jim, after our water heater stopped working, and he worked us into his schedule the same day.  He arrived on  time and had all the parts needed to repair our problem. He was very efficient and explained what had caused the failure. There is no doubt we will continue to use and recommend  his services.

You will not go wrong choosing Jim Hilman for your plumbing issues.  He did a very thorough job and made sure our kitchen sewer line (1935)  was cleared. Very prompt, clean and fair pricing.  He gives wonderful advise to help curb future problems.  I will most definitely call him again.

This is an opportunity that I didn't want to miss--sharing my experience of hiring the fabulous Jim Hilman to repair my Rinnai heater.

I'll spare you the long story that started with the diagnostic stage of the issue(s) leading up to present day, as it had to be seen to be believed.

I'll start by saying that Mr. Hilman is a master of his craft of the state of the art of all things Rinnai...it was enlightening for me to witness his deductive reasoning behind the need for various part replacements.  He explained everything so professionally and thoroughly, giving me a clear understanding of how I was about to invest my repair costs without confusion.

When I tell you that (ultimately) my small scale eighteen year old Rinnai had met it's demise--even after it had been effectively rebuilt-- I'm still glad that Jim was willing to do all that he could to make work before I had to make the decision to replace the unit. I witnessed such patience from Jim throughout such an enigmatic series of error codes thrown by my old Rinnai ...we had to laugh to keep from letting it get the best of us at one point;  it seemed like it took on a life of it's own...

Once the decision was made to replace it with a better and much more efficient sized Rinnai heater for the size of my home, Jim did the job perfectly! His labor costs were reasonable and the price of the replacement unit was more than fair market value...I'm sold on the Rinnai heater AND Jim Hilman! Both are state of the art...

I highly recommend Jim Hilman-- he is professional,  honest,  kind and truly a nice person to know...and his patience level is seemingly inexhaustible!!!
