Worked with EVCHARGE4U initially in 2020 to install a Tesla Wall Connector that I purchased, great service and it worked well.

In 2023, the original Wall Connector failed (issue with device, not installation) and EVCHARGE4U promptly replaced the unit (I paid for a new Wall Connector, but probably would not have if I had originally ordered through them). Overall great service and management.

My Tesla charging cable snapped off the charger and my neighbor recommended I call Paul to replace it.
He was here before I hung up the phone and was a pleasure to work with.

TLDR: This company is worth every penny! Incredible work from start to finish and looks awesome! Would unequivocally recommend to anyone looking for an EV installer. Their estimate might be higher than other companies but they know exactly what their doing.

Long Story:
I am so happy to go with Paul's team at EVCharge4U. I sent out three requests for estimates, and not only was Paul the first to respond but he was incredibly consistent in his communication throughout the entire process. And the outcome was terrific (I'll explain more below).

I had an expectation (based on limited research) that it would cost between $750-1200 for a home EV charger setup. So when Paul's estimate came back 3x higher than my expectation, and the highest quote from all 3 companies, I was slightly experiencing sticker shock. But, based on his experience and knowledge, he ultimately knew what realistically needed to be done to install the charger. He was the only one of the three companies to initially recommend a DCC-12 box in his estimate because he knew from the pictures I sent and the information on my home that it was going to be the best solution.  The other companies didn't include the DCC-12 box in their estimate which made their estimates seem significantly lower. Also, Paul's estimate includes the price of buying the Tesla Wall Connector directly through them as opposed to buying the charger directly through Tesla. The Tesla Wall Connectors periodically goes out of stock on the company's website given the increase in demand for EVs and installing home chargers. So it was nice to know they have them on stock so it wouldn't delay the installation process.

Back to the estimate process. When I called the other companies to ask them more about their quotes they discussed the two strategies for my home: 1) run a lot of conduit from the main electrical panel to the garage since the main electrical panel had a lot of extra space and the sub panel in the garage was almost full or 2) add a DCC-12 box to the sub panel in the garage to give the sub panel more space so you don't have to run a lot of conduit along the house. Running conduit along the house can be very expensive (traditionally more expensive than adding a DCC-12 box), but it's hard for a company to know how much conduit they will need to run based on the pictures so they didn't include this cost as an option in the estimate. And since the DCC-12 is not mandatory the other 2 companies didn't include this in the estimate as well. Not including the option for running a lot of conduit or including the DCC-12 kept the estimates from the other two companies much lower.

But Paul knew what needed to be done from the pictures and figured strategy 2 was going to be my best option. Because this was the most likely outcome he decided to include the DCC-12 part in my estimate. He could have chosen, like the other companies, to not include this line item which would have resulted in seeing a lower estimate. But he was setting my expectations from day 1 which I strongly value.

It took about 5 days from first contacting Paul to getting my installer charged which in my opinion is really fast. In the meantime we talked about possible install locations, and help set my expectations for what installation day would look like. Paul's team, consisting of Chad and Wes, arrived to installation day on time and open to answering all of my questions. We talked about different install locations and were divided between two adjacent walls. Chad was really knowledgeable and recommended the ultimate location for the charger because it wouldn't require drilling an extra hole that would be visible to the outside of the house. Chad listened to our preferences and advised us on the decision that best met our needs.

They completed the install in about 3-4 hours and were incredibly professional. The whole process from start to finish was incredibly easy, informative, and stress free. I haven't completed the permitting part yet but their team also takes care of this for you!

Wanting to get a quote for a wall charger installation for an EV. The electrician came in to see the set up in our garage and was impressed by the honesty of recommending me to just purchase a mobile charger since our garage already has an available 240 V outlet. There was no need to spend $$$$ for the wall charger installation and the inspection/visit was free of charge.

Paul and his team were excellent start to finish. We were able to get an assessment pretty quickly and scheduled the installation within a couple weeks.

It was a moderately complex job, requiring some creativity in order to get the Wallbox placed in the garage and connected to a subpanel in the basement beneath. The guys exhibited great craftsmanship and high standards, and as a result the aesthetics would turn out very well.

My friend Nick referred to them. His original equipment got fried, and he found EVCharge to replace the equipment. Nick was pleased. His original install from another provider was 8K. We acquired 3 bids, 8400, 2800, both had the additional cost of our providing the Charger unit. Both required purchase of a new panel. Paul promptly responded to my submission of info and phone call. He came to our home listened and advised, you do not require a new panel, I will install one if you want he said. He also said his bid will not be low, invests in the work team and high cost of insurances for company n employees. Paul left our home and within 2 hours a written bid arrived, and two days later we scheduled installation for the following week. Paul's bid was perfect for our budget. Ask for a bid and decide for yourself.

These guys replied to my request quickly, quoted me a price and showed up for the installation on time. After getting a quote, I believed the quote was for parts (Tesla wall charger) & labor, I offered to obtain the Tesla wall charger that needed installation. Afterwards I was billed for the original amount without substracting the cost of the charger. Multiple emails back and forth to no avail. As far as I'm concerned this was a sleazy deal. The original estimate that included the device & labor was reasonable and comparable to estimates on Angi. Insisting I pay them for the full amount of the estimate,  when I had already paid for the device, is nothing less than sleazy. Essentially I was charged over $450/hr for labor, about twice the going rate.
The installation was well done, but really, $450/hr? I warned them that their insistence on charging me the full amount would garner them negative reviews.

Moved here from SoCal and needed our Tesla charger RE-installed at our new place. Excellent responsiveness and very knowledgeable.  They do not cut corners, so don't expect to get a bargain, you get what you pay for and at EVcharge4u you get professional highly skilled service technicians.  Also, all work is permitted.  That's not a requirement in SoCal, so it surprised me.  But they took care of everything, even meeting the City inspector.  Additionally, they upgraded my panel to their standards, which is above what's required by code, at no additional charge.

EVCharge4U has been a tremendous partner to me. I found them a few years back when I was trying to figure out how to get EV charging in my condo building for the first time. Paul and the team helped me wrap my head around what I needed, walked me through the tradeoffs, and was patient and helpful as I navigated the necessary HOA approvals. I was pretty disappointed as a potential customer.  After I submitted my qualifying info, I received an email stating that one of their employees was in the area and they would stop by if they could.  There was no attempt at formally scheduling or even asking what my availability was. I received a call from said employee the next day while I was working with a very short voicemail.  No follow up email or ask for formally scheduling.  Totally ghosted me even I sent a follow up email to them.  Very strange.

I used EVCHARGE4U five years ago to install a garage charger for my Tesla. They were amazing back then. I had a problem recently where I was only getting a fraction of the amps during charging, and they came out to my house the same morning as my call to inspect the charger, tighten wires, and confirm operations. Amazing service and super fast follow up, far beyond my expectations.

I highly recommend EvCharge4U.  When I bought my Tesla in April of 2020 I asked Tesla to recommend an electrician to install a wall charger at my house.  EVCharge4U was recommended and they responded quickly with a very fair price.  They came on time and completed the job the same day.  I was very happy with the service.

I recently worked with EVCHARGE4U to install my Tesla wall charger.

I'd highly recommend using EVCHARGE4U. After struggling with several electricians who were unresponsive, provided incomplete quotes, and/or were wildly overpriced, a friend of mine recommended EVCHARGE4U. My friend had worked with EVCHARGE4U to install their Tesla charger in 2018 and had a great experience. After reaching out to to them to ask for a quote, I received an immediate response.

While prior electricians wouldn't talk to me until I filled out a long form and included lots of pictures (only to respond with an incomplete or nonsensical quote that wasted my time), EVCHARGE4U instead got in touch with me to discuss my situation and quickly sent out a crew member to survey my home and prepare a design proposal and quote. We were able to discuss several options based on my home configuration and ultimately arrived at a plan I fully understood and felt good about - all for a very fair price.

What a great company. I needed a charger for an electric vehicle, a new Tesla. I spoke to Paul the owner, and explained that I had some confusion about my electrical panel setup, as I also had solar. My problem was that I had a new panel I didn't know existed, which was my Main Panel due to a Solar-Battery system I had Installed some time ago. After talking to Paul at around 5 PM  on a Friday evening he agreed to come to my house to analyze and clarify the situation. I couldn't believe that Paul came to my home within a 1/2 hour of our conversation. He showed me the new outside Main Panel below the meter and immediately explained how the job would be done. He was quite knowledgeable, and very pleasant.  He knew how to put his customers first. Within a week of the quote I was scheduled, and had the install. The install went smoothly and was done by a very efficient electrician (Douglas) and only took about 2 hours. Everything was done on time and so simply and cleanly. It should be noted that I also received other bids prior to the work, but the bids were considerably higher.  So I was able to save a good amount of money.  I would highly recommend this company. They are Diamond Certified, and are approved as a Tesla Certified electrical installer which means that the work is done in perfect accordance with the high standards of Tesla. Having a proper install protects your Tesla Warranty. I believe the company also installs other chargers as well for other electric vehicles. Give them a try and hope you liked them as much as I did. Andrew was the assigned technician for the EV Charger outlet installation for our home. He called before arriving at the promised and agreed time. His behavior was very professional and dedicated his entire attention to perform and finish his job. At the end, Andrew explained all his work and tested the plug to make sure it was functional. Update - My homecharger was having charging issues with a solid red light.  Triaged with tesla and determined the unit went bad.  Luckily it was still under warranty and Tesla sent me a new one.  I reached out to EVCharge4u for advice and feedback. They had advised me of issues they see with some chargers and they will come do a swap  for me.  Extremely satisfied with the service and was able to come quickly during covid times while practicing social distance. Installation was flawless and couldn't be happier.  Thanks for a great customer experience!

So you bought a new Tesla, which naturally gives you weeks to ready your home for the day it arrives. We took this time to interview multiple electricians about how they would install and how much they would charge to install our Tesla wall charger. If you don't want to spend days interviewing electricians, TL;DR EVcharge4u is the trusted go to experts for your job; look no further and know you can hire them with confidence that your install will be done right, with quality and to code. If you're looking to do the install on the cheap, this isn't the provider for you. Here's why:

Our mid-century modern home, like many in San Francisco, was not built to power the high electricity needs of an active family with a treadmill, a heater, an oven and a Tesla wall charger. So, if your situation is like ours, then you probably know that the risk of overloading the box that powers your home can cause a fire.

To us, it was shocking to see how many Tesla installers in the bay area were ready to get to work and, without a permit, add a new circuit to install our Tesla wall charger for a quick $500. These same installers will look past the fact that installing a new Tesla wall charger in an older home with modern electrical devices could overload your circuit board and create a fire hazard. But, you won't be running on the treadmill, be using heat and the oven and charge your Tesla at the same time, right? If you're sure of that and never use house sitters, then by all means, take the risk of a permit free install of a major electrical device. But, if that isn't you, and you know that doing this will void the insurance plan that is there to protect you should a fire happen, then EVcharge4u is for you.

Not a single other company did the work that the owner of EVcharge4U, Paul, personally did in analyzing our situation. Paul saw that our home had 100 amps coming to it and had circuits allowing nearly all of that amperage to be used by our existing electrical products, which include a Woodway treadmill, our heater, our oven and myriad other electrical appliances. Paul saw, and articulated in an email to us, that installing a Tesla wall charger could easily overrun the power to our home, creating a fire hazard. He recommended that we install a switch that monitors our home's electrical usage and only allows the Tesla charger to turn on if it is safe to do so, thereby eliminating the risk of overrunning our circuit.

While this solution was slightly more expensive than the other proposals we received, no one, other than Paul, pointed out the fact that our circuits could be overrun, and no one offered a solution that would account for it in the way Paul did. To us, this won the business. Who cares if its slightly more expensive if doing this saves your home from a potential hazard?

After emailing us about this, Paul personally came to our home and inspected our electrical panels and confirmed that the switch was the right thing for our situation. Andrew, on his team, did the work to install the charger on the opposite wall from the power source and didn't complain in the slightest when we changed our mind at the last minute that it needed to go there.

All in all, it was a pleasure to work with EVcharge4U. They did quality work before the job even started and followed through with an expert install that passed inspection on the first go around.

The Tesla wall charger couldn't be working better, and we couldn't be happier with the work that Paul and his team did for us. We couldn't recommend him and EVcharge4U more highly. We would give them ten stars if we could but since five is the max on Yelp, then all five stars are more than well deserved.

My Tesla wall charger failed & none of the troubleshooting guidance seemed applicable to me.  I emailed [email protected] and got a response promptly. Andrew came over to perform the troubleshooting.  The (uncommon) problem was a burnt wire.  Andrew explained the situation and options.  Andrew was able to replace my old wall charger with a new one & get me back up and running on the same day!

Excellent on all levels!

Our installation consisted of 2 Tesla chargers connected to the HOA panel. We wanted to be able to separately bill the 2 owners, and to maximize the charge of the cars without tripping the HOA panel. Paul was fast to respond and had great suggestions for a safe and efficient load-sharing installation.  He was the first electrician we talked to (and there were many before him!) who knew exactly what needed to be done, and had done many similar installations before.
Andrew, and 2 coworkers, were on-time for the installation, They were friendly, accommodating and wearing masks at all time. Installation was flawless, in the timeframe announced. Andrew came back the next day to meet with the inspector. We passed the inspection.

Fast, courteous, extremely knowledgeable service.
Our old house from the 1970s needed a major and by-the-book-with-proper-permits electrical box upgrade from 100 to 200 amps to support and new EV car charger and future solar panel array. Got a competitive quote quickly and had the upgrade scheduled within 2 weeks during peak holiday season and peak Covid-19.
Workers showed up with PPE and a can-do friendly attitude at 8:30 on the dot. Work was completed by 3 PM with only about 30-40 minutes of no-power downtime. PLACE WAS LEFT CLEANER THAN THEY FOUND IT.

My Tesla home charging unit was malfunctioning.  My charging was abruptly terminated several times.
I called another electrician who did not help.
Then EV was recommended to me. I called and talked to a very alert responsible person who took my info. Then I got a call back in an hour from an electrician who said Paul N will be there at 11 am the next day to check it out.
Paul was early which I appreciated.  He was very familiar with the electrical system for Tesla.
He diagnosed the problem and offered to loan me his spare charging cable . In addition he did not charge me.

Came out to inspect my HPWC and even came out on a Sunday! Two previous electricians had worked on the unit and not caught the loose connection that Paul found.

I have an 8 year old wall charger for a Tesla Roadster whose cable/plug was coming apart. First thought was to reach out to Tesla. Learned first-hand that there is no dedicated support for Roadsters much less Roadster wall chargers. They gave me an email address that no one ever responded to. 6 months and multiple ignored e-mails later, went physically to Tesla HQ Service Center in Fremont and was met with blank stares. They recommended I find an electrician who is comfortable with Tesla wall chargers.  (This, from Tesla!!) So I fan out and approach multiple electricians who claim to be comfortable. They either told me they can't help me or tell me I need to have someone from Tesla service the charger. (I didn't even know how to respond to that.)

I was getting desperate and was now looking at trashing my wall charger, buying the updated Tesla charger ($500), paying for install (?$300), then an adapter for the Roadster ($800).  $1600+ because of a jiggly but otherwise functioning cable just didn't seem right.

Then I found EVCHARGE4U. First, the owner Paul got back to me right away. He wasn't sure this was something he could fix but he at least wanted to try and help. Even though I sent my initial inquiry late in the day, he kept coordinating with me well into the evening (even though he wasn't sure I would be a customer in the end). He didn't make any promises but said he'd work on getting his field agent Brian out the next day. A masked and socially-distanced Brian showed up at the end of his full day, again not even sure this would be a billable job. He was careful and went straight to work to figure out a solution, all the while pointing things out and teaching me about my set-up to protect it and take care of it. Within 20 minutes, Brian fixed a problem that had been worsening for over a year, with no solutions from Tesla.

Why can't every company be like this? Why can't owners put in long hours because they are professionals and they actually want to help people, whether or not they make a buck? Why can't employees go that extra mile, even after a long day, and leave their customers smarter about their own products than before?

Owning an electric vehicle is the right thing to do. But the honest truth is it's harder and more inconvenient to do so sometimes. We just don't have the decades of infrastructure and ancillary services of combustion vehicles. But if you've struggled to find a 'Go-To' company to help you with your EV charger needs, you're done looking. You found it. It's EVCHARGE4U.

I am very pleased to find this electric car charging supplier and the benefit of them being located in Berkeley and easy access in the San Jose Bay area is beneficial.

I was calling them in regards to the amazing VW e-golf but they also seem to be well-versed in many other electric cars and their charging systems, J1772 the most common level II charging connector.

I would highly recommend calling them for your different electric charging situations because they have a plethora of good and bad experiences to help guide you and prevent problems from arising.

Just to add to the other stellar reviews about Nijssen Electric - Paul and his crew were absolutely fantastic. Paul is extremely personable, honest, and very knowledgable. We requested an estimate to have a 240V (NEMA 14-50) outlet installed in our garage for an electric vehicle, as well as having an extra plug added to our backyard.
Paul came on time, reviewed everything and clearly explained what was involved, how long it would take, etc. Once we gave him the green light, he came and banged out the job very quickly, but not missing any details. Very high quality work at a very reasonable price. Payments was also very easy (via Quicken).

When it came time to do the permit inspection, Rachel came out and had everything prepped and ready for the city inspector. Everything was a breeze, and again, Rachel was very pleasant to work with.

Can't recommend anyone else, Paul and crew will be my go to team for any electrical needs for my friends and family! (and yes, he also did an amazing job for my parent's property)

I had some electrical outlet gremlins that I needed some help getting resolved. I was extremely pleased to have Paul and team come out to the house again and help. Everything was just as amazing as the first time we had work done from EVCharge4U. Paul and Andrew were on time and very very polite and courteous.
They immediately jumped in and diagnosed the issue and got everything patched up within a very short amount of time. Nothing was overlooked as they tested everything before they left.

It can be extremely difficult to find good AND honest work in this area so it is such a huge relief to know that I can depend on Paul and team.

Great installation for my Tesla, contacted me very quickly and was able to come out to my house to review what was needed. He removed my old Bosch charger and installed the new Tesla charger - and moved it closer to my garage door. Before I hired Nijssen Electric to install our new ClipperCreek LCS-20 EV charging station, I read the installation instructions as well the advice of other homeowners.  I provided them with detailed specifications.  One of my requirements was that the wiring should support a 40 amp circuit in case we bought an EV that could use more juice in the future.  Nijssen quoted 6-gauge copper wire - enough for 100 amps over the 35-foot circuit.  I choose Nijssen because their bid met or exceeded all of my itemized requirements and promised to satisfy the Albany Building Inspector for a reasonable price.  And Paul Nijssen is a big lovable bear of man with a good sense of humor.  It was difficult to keep my game face on while interviewing him.

The biggest challenge was to get the new circuit from the main panel through my home office ceiling to the garage so that the LCS-20 could be mounted outside.  The best route required the conduit to exit the main panel from below, pass over a downspout above a door and pierce the stucco exactly at the inside edge of the ceiling joists.  I imagined there would be some very unsightly conduit on the north wall of our house and that it would take at least a day to fabricate and install.  Nijssen figured out a easier path and had the job done in a couple of hours.  When an obstacle was encountered, Nijssen quickly found a workaround.

The installation diagrams showed a junction box between the charger its circuit.  We did not want the junction box mounted on the outside was of the house.  But, mounting it inside meant that conduit had to pierce the wall.  It looked tricky to me, but Nijssen made short work of that also by using some flex conduit and piercing the wall directly behind the junction box.

Our Chevy Volt was charging on our new 240 volt circuit by the time he left the first day.  But, there were a few odds and ends to finish.  So, rather than make me worry if they were ever coming back, they deferred payment until they could finish.  Classy.

In short, we couldn't be happier with the way Nijssen treated us, responding to our needs and the workmanship that was performed.  That is why I give them my highest recommendation.

2 of my neighbors and I got our our EV outlets installed in our building. From estimate to installation it was about two weeks. They pulled the permit and installed everything nicely, very clean work. They were definitely less expensive than a normal electrician.

I called these guys to have an outlet put in the garage for an electric car, and wanted a regular outlet put in my bathroom. I was impressed when the guy I was talking to was very honest and told me that they would be a lot more expensive, to do the bathroom job, compared to a regular electrician. Ok then! So I sent them my information online, they emailed me back a few days later, we called and they scheduled us for the very next morning. After the job was completed Aramis (sp?) followed up with a phone call. Very professional! If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. If we ever need them again in the future, I won't hesitate to call them.

I recently purchased a 2019 Tesla Model 3 and it's probably the best car decision I have ever made thus far. Evcharge4u came out the next day to check out where I would want the charger installed and installed a couple days later. I am very pleased with their work my charger is in the perfect place out of the way and still very accessible. I highly recommend them if you are considering buying an electric car. Very professional and hands on.

Don't go through what I did in calling 7 electricians across the Bay Area.  Just call Paul and know that you are likely getting the best service and prices in the region.   Every electrician in this area has more important projects than installing your EV charger and will either not respond, give you outrageous quotes or just not call you back.  

Reiterating what everyone else has said, Paul's team is responsive, fair and know what they're doing when it comes to eletrical vehicles as they they drive them as well.  Highly recommend their service and will be calling Paul again if I need another one installed.

We have used EVCHARGE4U twice over a 3 year period, and for both occasions, Paul and his team very responsive, professional and knowledgeable. We needed to get a 220V outlet installed to accommodate charging a new EV. Recently, we needed to update our electrical outlet to accommodate the requirements of a new EV. I went through all the hassle of taking the phots they asked for, filling out the forms, etc. They never got back to me. I called several times. They never got back to me. Just tell me you don't want the job. If you put me through the obstacle course of filling out all your forms, just have the decency to get back to me.

We had EVCHARGE4U install a home charging station in our driveway for our new electric car about a year ago. They did a great job and also recommended which charger to buy. This weekend we needed to shut down the power to our house for some electrical work, but when we went to turn everything back on, the circuit breaker dedicated to the charger would not come back on. We contacted EVCHARGE4U first thing Monday morning and spoke with the owner. He sent out an employee, Brad, to take a look. Brad discovered the issue right away and after a trip to the hardware store for supplies, repaired the problem, and our electric charger's power was restored before midday! I just ordered my Tesla and I am beyond excited. But I am clueless about electrical engineering.

This requires a brief aside as my father is an electrical engineer and I imagine he is incredibly disappointed that I don't know anything about transistors and such (there probably aren't any transistors involved, which doubly proves my point). Thankfully, I have a brother who did study transistors and such (or I think he did... I really have no idea what they are talking about). My father can be proud of him. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel bad at all. He says he is proud of me to and I assume, I mean one really must assume that one's father doesn't just SAY, I'm proud of you son. He has to be proud of me, right? I mean, he wouldn't lie to my face... it's just not about anything involving electricity... but I digress. Thank you for the brief therapy session.

So, its established that I haven't a clue. I contacted Tesla to ask who I should have install the home charging doohickey (yeah, that's what I call it) and they sent me 4 companies. EVCHARGE4U is in Berkeley, so I called AND emailed (the car is en route and I have no way to charge it yet, so gotta get moving, right?!!).

Megan answered and she was a DREAM to work with. Took me step by step through their online proposal request system (which I didn't really need... I don't do transistors, but I can manage a webform pretty well - I am a cuspy GenXer after all and not a complete techno-buffoon - no, you may not ask my wife to verify that factoid).

Megan was very helpful and said they would be in touch the next day - which they were.

She called while I was on the other line. I saw the number - didn't recognize it - and let it go to voicemail. Then I got a text 30 seconds later - Paul is in the neighborhood and wants to visit the site. He can come now (soon) or tomorrow morning at 7a.m. So, while I was on hold on the other line, I texted her back that now would be great. She responded immediately saying - how about 15 minutes. Perfect... and I am still on hold with a bank trying to do a mobile deposit (which it appears I am not adept at just yet) and the bank is providing an AWEFUL service experience making this one with Megan and EVCHARGE4U look INCREDIBLE by comparison.

10 minutes later, I get another text from Megan. Paul got sidetracked (or was it distracted - you'll know what I mean when you meet him), he is going to be another 10 minutes. I text back, totally OK, I am here.

Exactly (to the second) 10 minutes pass and I hear tires pull up (no engine, it's electric... I smile to myself at this). Paul (not a small man) climbs our of a tiny electric vehicle and he, like Megan, is incredible from the beginning.

He checks out the panel, talks me out of about $3000 worth of additional work. Talks me out of a panel upgrade... says to think about it when I get a second electric vehicle (not going to happen soon). He basically talks me out of theAhhr, ahhr more power, bigger, faster, optimize mentality and brings me back to this is enough and it will do nicely style of thinking.

I lapse into a brief meditative reverie while he runs some transistory amperage load calculations and then we chat for a bit about business and traffic and family visiting and good beer and he tells me he will get me a quote by tomorrow. Well, he says, probably tomorrow, but maybe not... definitely by Monday. And it is just easy and helpful and sweet.

Honestly, they are just good people. They treat people right. They are helpful and nice and open and honest. I don't even care what the price is. I'm hiring them to do it. Period. Full Stop.

I really hope they don't read this before they send me the quote.

EVCHARGE4U installed my home charger for my Bolt about a year ago. That experience was great. Easy, decent price, quick and efficient service. All good. Then tonight I get home and the charger has red lights blinking and it's clearly not working. The manual said to call a pro. So, at 7:20 this evening I called. I figured I'd just leave a message. But someone picked up right away. Gave me advice to fix it myself (flip the breaker). Told me to either keep him in the line or call back after I gave it a shot. I flipped the breaker, it worked, I called back to let him know. Done by 7:30. Above and beyond service. Thank you EVCHARGE4U!

This is an exceptional company. Paul and his team are knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. When I needed a charging station, Paul came right away and discussed EVs with me, battery technologies, and charging station options. When the box I purchased failed to work after little more than a year, Paul did a diagnosis that persuaded the company to send me a replacement. Besides that, he offered me the use of a charging station while waiting for the new box. When it came, Douglas, who installed it, worked efficiently while wearing a mask and keeping social distance, and he made sure the new station worked before he left. One service this company offers is handling a city's permit bureaucracy. After seeing the paperwork involved, I asked them to do that, and it was well worth it.

We just bought a Tesla and were having trouble with the charger we used to use for our previous electric vehicle. I called EVCHARGE4U for troubleshooting help and it was just my luck that Paul happened to be driving though my area. He graciously stopped by and tested out the charger to figure out the problem was. He quickly figured out that unfortunately the Tesla didn't like our old charger and wasn't compatible. He went over our options for installing a Tesla compatible charger and quoted us a very reasonable price (I called around after to compare). We are lucky in that they just installed superchargers up the street from us, but will definitely use Paul if we decide to hire someone for our home. We just had our Tesla Wall Connector installed in our garage by Douglas and another gentleman which I didn't get his name (my apology).  They did an absolutely fantastic  job.  The quality of work was A+. They were punctual, professional, and friendly to work with.

It's a real bummer. Paul has such good reviews and the first time we contacted him, he reached out immediately.  Then he disappeared and left us in the lurch.  Didn't return calls text or emails. We give up.  We are not out any money, but really wanted to support a local business.

They installed my charger for my Tesla in 2015.  Professional, within a reasonable time frame and clean job.  The other day I realized I had a loose receptacle and my vehicle wouldn't charge.  They came out ASAP (the next day) and repaired the charger free of charge. Huge! Great customer service.

The company started out responsive when I had questions about what kinds of pictures they needed in order to assess the type of electrical vehicle charging unit to install in my home. However, after that, they failed to return any of my three messages. So, obviously I'm not using them.

Last Friday all the electric charging stations at my condo complex stopped working.  I spent several frustrating days trying to contact someone who could help (since I am new to the EV world). Finally, I was given the contact information for Paul Nijssen.  I called him on Easter Sunday, reluctant even to both him on a holiday.  To my happy surprise, Paul not only responded immediately but even quickly came to our site, where he spent over an hour trouble-shooting this and that.  His expertise and competence finally solved the problem -- for which I am eternally grateful (as now I can drive my car again).  Throughout the entire long situation, Paul maintained an optimistic and thoroughly pleasant attitude.  I cannot express how very thankful I am to Paul -- and wanted to let everyone know about my very positive experience.

Paul has a cheerful personality and is reasonably priced. Quality of his work is average. Main issue is he doesn't finish what he starts and he can't keep his commitments.

I've had him do work for me, not finish, promise to come back on a specific day then not show up and not even call to tell me he can't make it. I've have to call him and listen to his reasons: my other job ran over but I'll be there tomorrow. Tomorrow rolls by and no Paul shows up. Again no contact from him. More calls to Paul and finally he tells me I'm too busy and can't get there for a few weeks.

So he goes from being a warm friendly guy to someone who doesn't care about you. Not worth the trouble...better to pay more for a contractor who keeps his commitments.

Paul was recommend to me thru Tesla a couple of years ago, to install a new charger. When I called to get information about the install, price, how long will it take, etc. Not only was he responsive, he provided useful alternatives for a clean install. Fast forward to last week. I was experiencing a problem charging my car and after getting misinformation from Tesla, I called Paul to have him check out the plug. Long story short. He came, he inspected, he identified the problem, loaned me his power cord til I fix mine and even came back to pick it up...no questions asked. If that's not 5 star service, I don't know what is.

As a first time ev buyer, it was such a pleasure talking with the owner Paul and all the knowledge he was able to share with me. When Andrew arrived the next day to do the install, he was very professional and such a great person to talk with. The work was done exactly the way I was expecting. We just ordered a brand new 2017 Tesla Model S at Christmas, and our Tesla Ownership Advisor recommended EVcharge4U in Berkeley to install our

Teslas are only built to order from scratch, and average about three months before delivery. Knowing how long it takes to get a building permit from the city, to do anything, meant we had to move fast, so we could have juice to recharge our batteries for our new electric chariot, before she comes home to live with us.

Estimate for the work was in same range as other electricians, but EVCHARGE4U's included costs related to permits & inspections, which others did not. EVCHARGE4U will not do the installation without a permit, which is fine with me. Highly recommend their work for any charger installations.

Paul's team of electricians was technically impressive and provided me with great customer service! I got friendly answers to my many questions and good advice about which charger would be best for my Chevy Bolt, given that I wanted it to be fast but also portable. It was a more involved project because the old electrical panel was unsafe and not up to code (as previous electricians had also told me). So that was moved and the old 100 amp electrical service was upgraded to 200 amps, with room for future addition of solar collectors and power wall. The Oakland electrical inspector went out of her way to praise the professionalism of the install. Despite an almost year-long wait for PG&E to put in a new transformer across the street, Paul's crew came back recently to finalize every last item on the punch list. I so appreciated the emphasis on providing living wages, good training and attention to detail! These guys are the best!!

The power in my house went out this morning and I gave Nijssen Electric a call when I was at work. Paul told me that he could do the service call today and he was at my house a few hours later. When Paul arrived, it was him and an apprentice and they were both incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and polite. I explained what my roommates and I noticed and done in the morning like replacing a suspected faulty fuse among a couple other things. Then, in less than 10 minutes, Paul had pinpointed the problem, fixed it, and was gone.

I would definitely use Nijssen Electric again and I would enthusiastically recommend Paul and company to my friends.

Paul is great and quite knowledgeable - friendly, responsive and one time . i think my install was tricky and when i shopped around a bit (i ended up using a standard electrician who was doing work on another house in the neighborhood) i found his pricing to include a hefty Tesla upcharge.  He was almost 3x what i actually paid to have my charger built.  So nice guy, helpful guy but not very cost effective.

Evcharge4u did a great job installing a 40 amp connection to a Clipper Creek 220V EVSE. We are so happy with the results, and the Leaf is charging fast now!

Overall it does take some time to get through the full process. The coordination between the people on the EVcharge4U team is great and they made the long process easy. Throughout the all the steps they were great help, although it did take two calls to get to them to meet initially, since Paul was out of the country.

Paul was very helpful with the application - willing to verify that the HOA application I wrote for the Townhome board was correct, and making useful suggestions. He was also patient with the months it took to get approvals too.

Doug did the installation, and he too had some great suggestions and design ideas. We had a long run from the circuit to the EVSE in the carport, and he figured out the absolute best route!

The city inspection went fast and quick, and we got our certificate in the mail. We are very happy and recommend their work.

If I had to call an electrician every day, I'd totally keep Paul a secret so that I would be able to get on his very busy roster.  Paul was extraordinarily knowledgeable, friendly, prompt and he came in cheaper than everyone else who came by!  

It turned out that he hadn't anticipated something that would have increased the price, but he kept to his original quote, working at what I believe was a loss. He told me that he kept his word and wouldn't change a quote midway through a job.

We just moved into a new home where the builders had told us the wiring for the EV charger was done, but we would still need to have a Tesla specific charger installed.

I scheduled a consult with Paul via email - he was very quick to respond and we were able to schedule something quickly, even though he is quite busy, he really tried to work around our schedule.

Paul was on time to the appointment (even early), and he took a look at our EV plug and said basically it was ready to go and no work was needed - we could use our Tesla adapter for it. He even checked the wiring to make sure everything was good, and gave us tips regarding the EV rate to help with our electric bill.

Submitted a request for proposal to install ev charging at our home, called the company a couple of times for an update. It's been over a week and no one reached back out to provide an update or a quote.

Well, just add me to the growing list of satisfied customers.  Erin came out to install our new Nema 14-50 receptacle, and did it expertly and efficiently.  As others have pointed out, he is very experienced and knowledgeable and is happy to help explain things.  In our case, we developed a small issue post-installation, about which I contacted Paul on a Saturday.  He was willing to come out that very evening to take a look, and ended up coming out the next day (Sunday), when we weren't even home, to see what he could do at the main panel.  When it still hadn't resolved, Paul came out first thing Monday morning to personally help us troubleshoot the problem.  I should stress that the problem turned out to be on the PG&E side of our panel, and Erin hadn't done anything wrong.  (In fact, he did a really good job, in my opinion.)  The bottom line is, EV chargers is what they do, and they have it down to a science at this point, but they're also mindful of the customer service aspect of their business, and want to make their customers happy.  Erin and Paul, thank you.

I just got a Level 2 Charger installed for our Smart car. I wanted to find an electrician who understood what was needed , and how to plan for going forward in a time of changing technology. Paul and the Evcharge4u crew are exactly who I needed to find. Great prices, good people, knowledgeable, friendly, and expert in solar panels, electric car needs. I recommend them highly.

Here is the whole story:

I recently purchased a Tesla and two employees at the Walnut Creek dealer where I purchased it gave me one referral.  They insisted he was the guy to use.  He probably would have done a fine job, but he definitely had some attitude and his estimate was 50% higher.  I would have probably just gone with, not knowing any better and not knowing that more than one guy in the bay area might know how to install Tesla NEMA 15-40 outlets.

However, I recalled that my friend recently purchased an electric vehicle as well and they told me they used someone else.  They highy recommended Paul, and referred to him as the super nice Dutch guy and followed up by saying you have to use him!

Indeed they were right.  If I have any electrical issues in the future, Paul is going to be my go to contractor!

Not just extremely knowledgable/competent, but a genuine and likable guy as well.

Paul and Luke from Nijssen Electric were installing a Tesla outlet at our SF condo.  Though it was a multi unit complex with shared panels, sub panels, multiple meters, he knew exactly what to do and even showed me pictures of 12+ unit places where he's done the work.  Not only that but he suggested an alternate outlet (not the original Tesla NEMA 15-40 one) I wasn't aware of so that not only do I still get 40amps (30 mi/hour), but I could support Leafs, Fiat 500e's, and so on.  It was the same installation price.   Great idea!  (note, charging station box needed for this config, which I bought separately) I never would have known about that possibility, but his lengthy experience on EV charger installations was the way I discovered it.  He didn't push me either way and his service would have cost the same either way - he just genuinely wanted me to be happy, and I could sense that throughout the first call I made to him to the job's finish.

Paul is friendly, a funny guy (we talked and joked throughout), punctual, easy to communicate with (very reachable via text and very responsive!), and knowledgable.  his specialty in EV charging stations gives him a lot of experience in dealing with the different sorts of things you may encounter on a job (not every electrical wiring in a home is the same!)  But he'll make sure you have the right gauge wire to handle the load, make it look aesthetically pleasing, know how to do it with code, and will handle the permit and inspection for you.

Full service, and my experience with him made me fully trust him.  great guys.  5 stars!  Go with him if you're doing EV charging installations. It's his specialty!

Paul is by far the most honest and forthright contractor electrician I have ever dealt with. Courteous, knowledgeable and honest.  I will use him again in the future and have no hesitation to recommend him to others.

I'm not going to rant here but I just got off the phone with the office manager and after some back-and-forth and follow up on an email sent last week he suggested that I follow up with another operation to get my EV charger installed. Not the greatest customer service but I'm giving him two stars for being honest. YMMV.

Mr. Nijssen worked to meet my schedule and explained the work and options clearly.  He did the installation quickly and generously offered to come back out should I encounter any problems once the vehicle arrives. Paul and his crew were terrific in helping us figure out the configuration we needed, and  efficient during the installation.  Unfortunately the charger we were supplied (directly from Tesla, not through him) had a glitch and went out six months later.  But Paul was out the very next day to fix the problem, arranged for free replacement from Tesla, and had the problem resolved completely within 48 hours.  Wonderful service and utter professionalism!

Paul was great. We called him on a Sunday afternoon when our power went dark in the middle of a BBQ party. He came right over (on a Sunday!) and fixed our broken main breaker and we had power before the party ended. We plan on using him in the future.

I have been remiss in posting on Paul's Yelp page. In short, he is the best electrical contractor I have ever worked with. While he is a licensed California electrician, he is European trained and brings an eye and perspective to his work that is real value added and that I have not previously encountered. BTW, he is a really nice guy as well as someone we feel we can trust without question with respect to his reliability, integrity and skills.  He can undertake larger projects but has been gracious enough to undertake small repair jobs as well. His prices are fair though remember folks, this is electrical work - there is no almost got it right when it comes to electrical work - it is the integrity of his work and his depth of knowledge and experience that gives us the confidence we have in him. I give Paul an unqualified recommendation.

Hiring Paul to install a Tesla outlet in my garage was one of my best experiences with contractors.  He was very responsive, friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and effective in solving my problems.

Paul was readily reachable via email/text and was very responsive.  He even responded to me via email for scheduling an appointment while he was out of country on vacation.

Paul was also knowledgeable and logical in his approach.  Another electrician recommended by Tesla told me to add a subpanel to install a Tesla outlet (which increased the cost quite a bit).  I wanted to get a second opinion, and an employee at Walnut Creek Tesla recommended contacting Paul.  After carefully examining my electric panel, Paul determined that a subpanel was not necessary.  This saved us quite a bit of cost.  Paul figured out a way to work with my existing panel to install a Tesla outlet.

Paul was customer friendly beyond my expectation.   I had issues with smoke detectors at my rental property, beeping even after changing batteries.  I was having difficulty finding an electrician who could come out on time.  When I explained my situation, he dropped by my rental property before coming to my house.  He determined that my old smoke detectors were bad and replaced them with the new ones that I had purchased.  He did all this work free of charge and won't take anything for the work!

I called Paul at 5:30 pm to schedule an appointment to check out the wiring leading to a light fixture I was replacing (the 90-year-old old wiring was scary looking). I thought I'd get voice mail, but he answered and promised to stop by that evening . He was at my house within the hour, finished installing the light and assured me it was safe. Paul is such a lovely, warm person, with a very sensible approach to dealing with wiring in old houses. I'm a DIYer, so when discussing my electrical wish list, he told me how to do several of  the projects myself!  I couldn't be happier with him and am thrilled to have finally found my go-to electrician.

I just bought my first EV and wanted a charging station installed on the corner of my house. Paul was recommended by Clipper Creek, the company that sold me the charging station. It happened so quickly.  I called him the afternoon I ordered the charging station, it arrived the following day, and a day later Paul installed it. amazing service!

Paul did a fantastic job and exceeded expectations in every way.  He first said he would be by for a site visit on a Sunday morning and then surprised me by having his truck and doing the work right there on the spot.  An hour letter my tesla is charging at 29 miles per hour versus poking along on a 110V at 4 mph.  Paul was fast, high quality and reasonably priced.  Highly recommended!!!!

We needed a 240 volt NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in the garage because we are taking delivery of a new electric car in the coming weeks. Paul was recommended to us by the manufacturer, so we contacted him by email and got an almost immediate reply. Turned out he was able to visit our house that very day and give us an estimate. He handled the permitting and arranged the inspection, and in two weeks we had a legal working outlet to charge our car. Turned out that the existing copper wire to the electric panel couldn't handle the load increase, so he pulled new wire that could - at no extra charge. Everything went smoothly and with no hassle. I came home to no power in my kitchen.  Worried about the food in my fridge I started calling and got a hold of Paul.  He was at my house in 20 minutes, took 10 minutes to solve the problem and that was that.  Friendly and personable, I'd recommend him highly for help in a pinch.  He's also going to be my go to for future larger jobs...

Paul installed an EV charger circuit and plug for our Model X. He was incredibly professional, fast, and provided high quality workmanship.  He gave me advice on which unit to install and where to put it. He provided an accurate quote up front, and pulled a permit in real time on site after confirming the job spec with me. I definitely recommend using Nijssen Electric for your install.

Paul provided amazing service on my job. We needed to re-wire our old connection box, and Paul not only did a great job, but he came in well under other quotes. He told me only after the job was done and I had paid that he had accidentally quoted too low, and told me what it should have cost. Even after the increase, his price was still very competitive, and given his great service and quality work, I still would have chosen him.

I did a fair amount of comparison shopping before choosing Paul. It's quite possible that he may not have the absolute lowest quote if you call 10 electricians (though he'll be close), but I know you will get the best service and quality, and his price will be very competitive. I'm not calling around for my next job, I'm just calling Paul. You should do the same, I promise that you'll be happy you did.

I've got a 90+ year old house and have had several electrical contractors in to work on various problems and projects but once I found Paul at Nijssen Electric I will never hire another. Paul, and his staff, are pleasant to work with and their work is of the highest caliber. On top of that the prices are reasonable. I've had them rewire an entire section of the house, install new light fixtures and outdoor sockets, debug problems, put up a digital antennae and more. These guys are 'can-do' and they do it right.

Paul Nijssen was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.  I wasn't sure what needed to be done for our project, and he walked me through it and gave me all the information I needed to get the work done.   As it turned out that he didn't need to do anything for us, and said the workmen already on our project could handle it.  I wanted to pay him for his time, because he had been so helpful, but he wouldn't hear of it.  It is not often that you meet someone as ethical and decent as Paul.  It is very reassuring to know that there are still people like him in the world.

Some of the outlets were not working.  Out of desperation, I looked on Yelp and found Paul of Nijssen Electric on Tuesday night at 7pm.  He showed up at my apartment within an hour as he promised.  He explained that it was just tripped and nothing needed to be done.  He didn't charge me.  He then told me that he only install home electric station for Tesla cars.  But, he did this just to help me out.  I am just so thankful for Paul with such golden character and kindness.  I will definitely recommend him to anyone who will be purchasing Tesla.  Paul is a honest man.  Thank you Paul!

Paul Nijssen is awesome!  We needed an electric car charger installed very quickly - the car arrived quite suddenly and we didn't have a reasonable way to charge it.  Not only did he get the job on his calendar ASAP, he actually found an artistic way to run the wires within a conduit in my garage (not kidding!), integrated the work with existing work, and scheduled an inspection with the county.  A+++    And besides being an amazing and creative electrician, he's got a really warm and engaging personality.  I will gladly work with him again and absolutely recommend his work.

I came home mid-afternoon yesterday to find power out in the master bed and bath.   I was pretty sure I knew the culprit -- a faulty GFCI outlet -- but I knew that getting it fixed before dark was to either fix it myself or quickly find a qualified electrician.   Fixing it myself was a bad idea - I am a lousy handyman and electricity scares the bejesus out of me.    Luckily, I found Paul.  I had tried a couple electricians and either got either lengthy voicemail messages or helpful callbacks on how to troubleshoot it  (and apologies that they were booked more than a week out).   But Paul called me right back, helped troubleshoot the problem and also quickly recognized that I was ill-equipped to replace the GFCI on my own.  He was here within 30 minutes and done in less than an hour from my initial call.   Knowledgable, thorough and efficient -- I'll definitely be calling Paul again the next time  I need an electrician. Hopefully, it'll be with a bit more lead time.
