What can I say? It was a perfect 5 out of 5. My toilet was clogged for about a week. I thought it was typical apartment toilet problems; too much toilet paper, paper towels, etc. I tried fixing it myself, even bought a 7 dollar snake from Walmart, but nothing worked, so I figured it was time to get help. I used the Yelp feature to search every plumbing service that services Spring Valley, and I sent a request to about a dozen places saying my toilet was messed up and I needed a free price estimate. Two places replied.
No need to bash on the first place or mention them by name, but the first place came (a few minutes late), looked at it for 5 seconds, and said the problem isn't the toilet. It's the mainline. We can snake it for 260. I told him thanks for the quote and that I'd get back to him after I've heard from everyone else, but then he pressured me into a quick answer. I'll do it for 180 right now, since I drove all the way here.
I was a little offended that he was making me feel pressured to answer immediately. It was a free estimate after all. Moments after he left, Ali showed up with the Drain Help van (early for their appointment). He looked at the toilet, checked it a little more in depth, and told me that the snake would work, but a hydro-jet would be better, and that it would cost me 185. I knew nothing about prices, so I told him I'd keep making calls and check with a handy man who worked at my church. No pressure. No guilt. He told me the price and let me go.
After I called 3 or 4 other places and asked for how much the snake and/or hydro-jet would cost, I realized no one else could come close to 185 for the jet, and that the cheapest snake would cost me 150. I then called the handyman from my church, and he said 185 for the hydro-jet was a steal, so I went for it. No offence, but there are some people in my life who I trust the opinion of more than a thousand yelp reviews, and he's one of those guys.
I called Drain Help. Minutes later, they called me back. I told them I wanted to go with the hydro jet. They showed up within the hour and just got straight to work. In about 5-10 minutes, the toilet was 100% fixed. He even told me it had a 1 month warranty!
Good customer service will always come as a second priority to me compared to a good deal, but nothing is better than getting both. I'd recommend them to anyone to call and at least get an estimate. You have nothing to lose! They won't show up and pressure you to dish out cash on the spot like most other contractors. If you need work done, just call them. Do it!
