My toilet overflowed this morning and I called SIX different plumbing companies and no one could help me. Then, I got a referral to Bonafide Plumbing, so I called and he said he would be out within the hour! We only have one bathroom in our little house so it is a big deal being without a toilet. He came out, as promised, and my toilet was fixed right away. Ed saved the day, and I would will for sure contact him again.

Our garbage disposal got clocked on mother's day. I desperately looked for a plumber in Alameda and came across Bonafide Plumbing. Every review was 5 stars, so I called 'em up. Ed was here in literally 15 minutes and finished in 10.

If I ever have any other plumbing needs, Bonafide Plumbing will be the first place I contact. Highly recommend.

I almost regret updating this review as the word is already too much out on Ed. This review is different as he didn't even do the work, but you will see why I wrote one and why he is so wonderful. So last month my water heater conked out at my new place and in checking the age of it found out that the water heater warranty expires after 6 years..and the water heater was purchased 6 years and 3 months ago. OF COURSE! Anyways called Ed to see what he can do and his schedule was unfortunately packed (damn you YELP). He did give me a recommendation but that person was busy too. I was hoping to see if any repair could be done as the heater looked in great condition. Anyways the person I called came out right away and started doing everything (measuring, talking about how these things break down, how you can't really fix them, better to replace...) and he quickly gave me a quote and said he could replace the next day. Well wait a minute. Can you check the unit out first (totally ignored my questions was going right for the sale). He proceeded to try, and like with me the pilot light wouldn't come on, but by that time his lack of listening made me not trust him. So we almost had a deal except for the amount of cash I wanted to check one more thing. So as they went on their way i called Ed back and knowing he couldn't do the job timely just wanted to know if I was getting a fair shake. He was very honest, said the price wasn't bad for a new unit but if the heater was in good shape maybe it was a small part that could be replaced. He gave me yet another name and sure enough that guy came out the next day and instead of a new heater it was a $60 part (basically the part the first guy said wasn't worth replacing). With a plumber the most important thing is trust, and there is no one that I trust not to take me to the cleaners more than Ed. He gets the job done right and if he can save me money in the process he will. Now, with that said can some of you go try someone else. You are keeping Ed too busy for when I need him.

After the minor scheduling snafu was resolved we had a great experience with this company. Ed was very professional and courteous. He was happy and I was even happier to discover that the issue we had with the leak in the overflow drain at our bathtub was less serious than anticipated. Bonafide plumbing showed up promptly to fix our broken dishwasher, which wasn't draining properly. They were polite, Covid-compliant, prompt, and most importantly, fair.

We received an honest assessment of our problem, they communicated potential concerns about not being able to help if the problem with our dishwasher was the dishwasher itself, and were ultimately able to solve our problem for a fair price. We would definitely use them again

Eddie did a great job in 11/2020 replacing my tankless water heater with a new one.
He always arrived on time and masked. He was professional when he provided a quote. He brought the new tankless water heater as agreed, and installed it in less time than planned. He said to call him if I ever had an issue with the water heater too. It's been 3 months now and we haven't had any problems.
He was a booked out a week or so, but I was fine waiting to have the job done right!

What an amazing experience. Eddie's the kind of guy you want to keep a secret so he won't be too busy the next time you call -- but he did such a great job I have to recommend him!

I discovered a large wet spot in my garage ceiling, right under my toilet. Worried that Johnny would come crashing downstairs, I really wanted to find someone to take care of it as soon as possible.

After calling a couple of other plumbers who were booked out for the next several days, I reached Eddie.

Eddie was very polite, accommodated my work schedule, and showed up on time. When I told him I wanted to replace the toilet with a high efficiency water saving one that matched the period of the house, he suggested a model that was exactly what I wanted, placed the order with his supplier and picked it up for me the next day.

He cleaned up after himself using his own supplies (other plumbers have just helped themselves to my bath towels and left them in a sodden mess on the floor) and he was extremely careful not to hit any walls on the way down the stairs when removing the old toilet.

His fees were completely reasonable and he didn't mark up the cost of the replacement toilet.

A bonafide good experience! I'll call him first next time I need a plumber.

Eddie and Bonafide Plumbing are superb -- we will call him again and again.

We were in a total pinch (late on a Sun night) as my husband tried to fix our outdoor sprinkler system. He hit our main water line and Eddie to the rescue. It took him less than 20 min to respond and come over, and within the hour all was fixed. He is honest, good and fair-priced, and deserves nothing but (5) stars!!

Ed has done it again! A few weeks back, I had no hot water for my shower.... Upon checking out our tiny basement, found there was water all over the floor! I called Ed, he had me look around to switch off the water until he could get here. He came as soon as he could because I couldn't figure out how to turn the gas off on the unit. He came over and checked out the situation and then said he could get back tomorrow with a new water heater because this one was dead and gone! He came right at the time he said he would, took about three hours to install the new heater and took the old one away with him... ALL at a very reasonable price. Bonafide Plumbing is great!

Ed is awesome. Airport Appliance screwed up our kitchen sink when installing a new dishwasher. No one there could figure out how to fix it. Contacted Ed at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend, and he was ready to come fix our sink right away. He's also the first service person who voluntarily removed his shoes when entering our home rather than tracking mud and dirt through the house. He did the job quickly and professionally at a very reasonable cost. I absolutely recommend Bonafide without hesitation.

Professional and courteous service! Called Bonafide Plumbing this morning when I realized that I cannot fix a leak on my own. Unlike another positively reviewed competitor with an answering machine that was full, Ed has a helpful receptionist that answered the phone, moved things around and squeezed in an appointment for me in the afternoon. Ed came and worked magic on a very tricky pipe fracture with limited access. He answered questions, explained what he was doing, and gave advice. I am very impressed.

Bonafide Plumbing gets 5 stars from me .
As a homeowner I have found it hard to find good service persons.
Service persons who are on time and do quality work at a reasonable rate are few.
After checking out the Yelp reviews , I decided to give Bonafide a try.
Called Ed and he answered right away .
Scheduled a service call for later that week .
Ed showed up on time and re installed a toilet that had been installed incorrectly , fixxed a leaking faucet in my laundry room and best of all fixxed a leaking water line ( irrigation) at the rear of my house , that I thought would require some digging , with a simple solution . He put a plug in the line leading out from the house. It's all rock and cement back there now , so the line is not needed.
All this in about an hour and the final cost was very reasonable.
I will recommend Bonafide to my friends.

This is one of the most professional and honest companies I've ever used. Since I'm renovating my entire house, I've had to deal with a lot of different companies over the last year. When my water heater broke, they were there in a flash and really took the time to understand my concerns. They gave me a fixed price and talked me through the entire process. When they finished, they had even done a few extra things that they didn't charge me for. It was proof that they really care about their name, the level of their service and of course their customer. Since then, I've used them for installations in bathrooms and kitchens and have never once been disappointed. I definitely recommend them!!!

Had called and scheduled an appointment with Ed/Owner for an estimate on a water heater. When I first called, he wanted to give a quote over the phone without seeing the job first hand. I told him that I do not take quotes over the phone and would like him to come, look at the job and give us a quote at that time. With some hesitation, he scheduled an appointment. Well, the day and time came and went with no phone call to that he was going to be late or to verify the appointment. Called him once to see if he was coming?!? Second call (more than hr. after the appt. time) and cancel the appointment. Our concern was if he can't be on time and keep his appointments, what is his customer service like once the job is done...no thank you.

Follow-up: Ed called over 3 hrs. later to let us know that he was at a job and couldn't call. Sorry that is not acceptable, especially if we took time off from work to be here for the appointment. A fast and simple minute to call let us know the situation and reschedule...is that too much to ask for instead of excuses!!! Thanks but no thanks!!!

Our water heater started leaking severely on Sunday. Fortunately Edward at Bonafide had and made space in his schedule to come out and have us back back with hot water later on the day. Ed is a really nice guy who clearly knows what he's doing. He gave us a fair quote, arrived on time, did the job in a professional and friendly way, tried to find ways to reduce trauma from getting to leaky pipes, cleaned up, and billed us for the amount he quoted. He did not try to increase the cost of the job and he was friendly throughout the process. We got to chat with him for a while and hear his family story. Ed previously serviced our home for a toilet problem we were having. He was helpful on the phone before coming out to our house. He was very courteous and fixed the problem quickly and cleanly.

We recently had some other issues (toilet would bubble and flush on its own at random times) with that same toilet. He was very patient with us on the phone to discuss what the problem might be.

After mentioning the city had done some work recently on the water main along our street, he gave us really helpful advice to call the city and report the problem. In the end, he did not have to come out for an appt, and the city ended up finding and fixing the problem. They literally had to dig the street again, and found some tree roots were affecting our pipes.

Having a good relationship with a reliable plumber is important. Support small businesses, like Ed's. He may have to charge a fee if he is coming out to diagnose your plumbing issues if you are located far from where he is. However, if you end up using his services, he'll apply that fee toward your charge. Fair enough. Time and gas cost money.

Like the other reviewers here, Mrs. Cheesemonger and I are extremely pleased with the service from Ed from Bonafide Plumbing.

He answered his phone promptly, listened to my problems, made an appointment, showed up exactly on time, fixed the problem quickly and for a reasonable price.

My experience with Ed was nothing short of professional in all aspects. I had called him for help with my leaking dishwasher. He immediately called me back and he even showed up the same day! Since he was in the area, he actually took an extra 30 minutes at the end of his day to drop by. He immedately knew what was wrong and how to fix it. He ordered the necessary parts and notified me once the parts came in so he could finish the job. As a result, my problem was fixed in the timeline he promised.

Additionally, he installed a safety valve that made my dishwasher set up more effecicient and that would prevent additional problems in the future. I also told Ed about a long standing hammering problem that I've had with my pipes. He took the time and effort to crawl through my attic space and inspect the plumbing running throughout my entire house. These extra services proves that Ed genuinely cares about doing a good job for his customers.

Ed is knowledgable, professional, responsive and experienced. Bonafide Plumbing will certainly be the company I call for my plumbing for years to come!

Ed of Bonafide Plumbing was recommended to us by at least 2 other Bayfarm families over the last couple of years. We didn't need a plumber until a couple of weeks ago.

We had a cold water leak (non emergency) bw the first and second floors. Called Ed and left a voicemail on a Sunday. He called back a couple hours later and set up an appt for later that week. He came and fixed it, explained the work he did, was professional yet friendly. Ended up to be corrosion of a copper pipe. When I asked about his CSLB license, he provided me with the link. Reasonable prices.

Trustworthy, knowledgeable, local plumber with reasonable prices?! Yes please! Would def use again and would recommend in a heart beat.

FAST, KIND, Affordable!
I called Bonafide this afternoon and requested help with a leaking kitchen sink. To my surprise, Ed was out here in just a couple hours. And he came with the part I needed! He swapped out the faulty pipe and was finished in about 10 mintues. What an awesome service. He even fixed a minor problem we had with a fixture, for free, because he said he doesn't like to see leave things working improperly. Now THATS good service. Five stars to Ed. Best plumber we've ever had, by FAR. Not only has Ed saved us multiple times by rushing over during plumbing emergencies, he's already fixed something that multiple other plumbers have not been able to... not to mention that he and his wife are super easy to reach, the prices are extremely fair and he seems well on his way to fixing yet another problem that no other plumber has been able to touch. Ed recently installed a new low-flow toilet for me. I emailed him with some photos of the existing toilet/bathroom and what needed to be done, and he got back to me same day with an estimate, and when I asked, a recommendation for a great toilet and some places to buy. I ended up getting a different toilet by the same manufacturer, and I really appreciate the input because it greatly narrowed down the number of toilets I needed to compare and consider. Scheduling was easy and Ed was on time, friendly, and considerate - first thing he asked was whether he should take his shoes off (no, but I appreciate the thoughtfulness). The job was done within an hour and Ed left everything looking great. Very happy - thank you, Ed!

Only folks with an over-inflated sense of their own handiness might attempt some home plumbing on a late Sunday night before a major holiday. But I am nothing if not overconfident, and dang it but I wanted that trick diaper-rinsing thing on my toilet NOW.

11pm, Ed answered, popped in less than 15 minutes later, and had us all set up with the functioning indoor plumbing to which we have become accustomed in minutes. He returned early the next morning (on Labor Day- my greatest thanks for that) with a part needed to finish the job. Ed is nice, fair and honest. We would definitely call him again.

He was friendly and easy going, showed up on time and wore a mask and gloves the whole visit, so I felt completely safe regarding Covid-19. I had two faucets to install and the whole things was done very quickly and well. He explained his work to me which I also appreciated and showed what was causing the problems with my old faucets. Ed at Bonafide is a life saver! He professionally installed two tankless hot water heaters at my house after my ancient water tank burst and flooded my basement. He replaced my old galvanized pipes w copper. But more than that he responds quickly whenever I have a problem including today! I texted him a picture of my faucet leak and he was over in 10 minutes and fixed the problem in less than 20 mins...it was such a relief! He stands by his work, is clean, professional, and reasonably priced. I would recommend him for any job!!!

From my experience I'd say Ed is a swell guy all around.

Like everyone else my experience with Ed was nothing short of spectacular. About a month ago I bought a house with an 'updated' kitchen. A few days later the sink was backed up. Ed came out that evening on his way home from work. If I hadn't stopped him he would have gone back out, got the parts, and fixed it right then. Instead he came back bright and early the next morning and fixed the sink. Apparently the contractors had taken some short-cuts and not vented the sink properly.

I'm about to take a class on plumbing at Laney so Ed allowed me to watch and ask questions, he even offered to lend me some books on the subject. Honest, fair, tidy, generous, most importantly fixed the sink proper, what more could you want?

I had house guests, a plugged up kitchen sink, on a holiday, no less.

Eddie was willing to take some of his day off to help me. A new customer--a complete stranger....no less.

Outstanding service and very professional!

I called Bonafide plumbing because I heard a high pressured leak under my house and it was obvious something had a serious leak. Im the most unhandy person I know I knew calling a professional would be my best option. Through my yelp search, Bonafied came up and I gave Ed a call. He came out the next day assessed the situation, gave me some options on how to remedy the issue, performed the work and was on his way.

He even took photos and videos on his Iphone while under the house to show me what was wrong and how it was corrected. Overall great service and reasonable prices! Definitely will be calling him again if I have plumbing issues!

He knew who to call to find a part for an ancient toilet so we didn't have to replace the whole thing. Of course, 4th of July weekend our water heater broke down. The pilot light wouldn't work and it was cold showers for us. Highly recommend. Had a leaky facet, called Bonafide , and they responded within 24 hours. Eddie was the plumber, he was great. Thumbs up all the way! To accommodate my work schedule, I was offered a very early morning appointment. Eddie called the night before to request photos of the toilets so that he would come prepared with the right parts. He arrived right at the appointment time and finished fixing my two leaky toilets within an hour. We have had Eddie from Bonafide out to do work at our house three times. All three times he has delivered incredible service and labor that far exceeds what we ever could have expected.

The first visit was to re-fasten a toilet that had become unmoored. Eddie did so and pointed out that we would eventually need to address the flooring beneath the toilet. In the meantime, the toilet was fixed and went back to working as it should.

Sure enough, the flooring caused a similar problem a year later (if we had listened to Eddie it wouldn't have been a problem). Eddie came back, created a temporary fix for the toilet and even opened up our downstairs ceiling to see how much unseen damage the leak had caused.

As this all happened we were in the midst of the appraisal process for a home refinance, so we had a very tight timeline for all work that needed to be done. When our flooring guys found that the subfloor needed to be replaced, Eddie made some calls and found someone who could do the work the next day. This is a testament to Eddie's reputation in the trades and professional contacts. The guy he got, Wayne, showed up THE NEXT MORNING and fixed the subfloor right as the flooring guys got there to install the overlay. As they started working, Eddie showed up, as promised, to patch our ceiling. When he finished that he went upstairs and installed our new toilet.

I cannot sing Eddie's praises enough. He is good at his job, charges reasonable prices for top-of-the-line work, and is a good and honorable man who goes above and beyond for his clients. As long as he's working, we will be his customers.

I signed up for Yelp just to rate Ed - he was that good. He showed up on a Sunday when no one else was returning calls. When he arrived he was professional, and kept trying different things until he figured out how to unclog our kitchen sink. This was huge as we were in the middle of a Christmas party. I had a leaking bathtub. Another plumber came and just sealed the edge of the bathtub, which did nothing. Eddie came and showed he knew the layout of my townhouse. He immediately located the panel in another bedroom that lets him peek at the pipe coming out of the bathtub. He turned on the water to test for the leak and quickly found the leak. Then he got the tools and fixed the leak. Then he confirmed the leak was fixed by looking at the pipe again. Then he took out the remaining old panel that was cut but never taken out, so it would be easier to look into the panel the next time. He did all this in about half an hour. He shows thoroughness and knowledge of the house. The cost, $153, also sounds reasonable. And he seems happy just to make his customer happier.

I called Ed after having two other Alameda plumbers tell me that I had to re-plumb all of my gas lines to run a gas line for a new stove. Ed arrived, quickly discovered that all he had to do was run an additional few feet of gas line from the old (1940's) stove location, and quoted a very reasonable price. Edward is awesome! Fair, honest, patient, organized, and skilled. We hired Bonafide to underground a pipe which was previously dumping the water from our sump pump in our basement onto the front yard of our property.

Eddie is such a class act! I had a big 3 toilet+ job all ready and waiting for Eddie as Eddie did an amazing job installing a High Efficiency Vertex Water Heater for me maybe 10 years ago. Eddie felt he might have been exposed to COVID and chose not to put his clients at risk and had to move my appointment 3 weeks. I had a fairly urgent water leak that was tripling my water bill so a friend of Eddie's did the work today who is very highly qualified.

It is this type of integrity and ethic that is the reason Eddie has 5 stars and 187 ratings on Yelp.

Simply said, Ed was terrific in every way. We learned about Bonafide Plumbing from our neighbors. We decided to have all the pipes underneath our house replaced as well as a new water heater. Ed and his crew replaced all the pipes in one day so we were not without water. Is also very easy to communicate with and quickly answers questions via text. Bonafide Plumbing, Edward is a one man machine! I can't enough good things about his work and him as a person.

If you have plumbing needs then try to schedule him. He is a Alameda local who cares. We called him for his service on a few projects we had done at our house (move outside pipe longer about 10 feet to attach a new spigot, repiped our laundry room to have a industrial sink/ moving dry vent, and shower leak). Each time the quality of work was professional, honest, and knowledgeable in what needs to get done. He always gave us the choices we can decide in getting the issue resolved.

His rates and prices are one of the best. We called a few plumbers around the East Bay before finding bonafide. He is our go to plumber and we definitely would recommend him.

The main water shut-off valve to our house broke and I called Bonafide Plumbing after finding them here on Yelp. The receptionist said Eddie was booked up the rest of the week but he could come by the next day to inspect and give me an estimate. It turned out Eddie was in my area and finished up his job early, so he was able to come by on the same day and repair the shut-off valve with better equipment than what was previously installed. His quote was fair, and since he finished the job so quickly, he kindly replaced our kitchen faucet that was dripping as well for no extra charge! Really great service, response, and quality work. I know from all the feedback here that Ed must be a great guy and do great work BUT...

We called Ed and disucssed our minor issue with him. Made an appointment and then took time off from work to meet him at the house.

Ed was a no show - and NO CALL. Not that day, not ever. I know he had our number because he called twice when we set up the appointment but then to never hear again is just really bad form. Had there been any follow-up at all I would have gladly given Bonafide a second chance but to not show up and not call is completely unexcusable.

Today, I had Edward come over to look at my dish washer as it wasn't draining properly. He called me two weeks ago and asked a variety of questions and tried to solve it for me over the phone so that I didn't need to have him over and spend money. When we couldn't find the solution (without him actually coming over and taking my dish washer apart) he decided he needed to come over. Today, he came and spent about 45 minutes working on the dish washer and I can happily say that he fixed it! There was a ton of gunk stuck and he got them all out and even blew on the inside of the air cap to make sure everything was clean (which I don't know if he should've because it looked pretty dirty in there ) but overall, very happy with the service and level of care received. I called Bonafide because several people in my building recommended them and I can see why. I will be calling Edward again in the future if I have any plumbing issues.

In a mode of panic, when we discovered that my crawl space was flooded, I scoured the Internet to find a good plumber. Went to 4 different ones to get an estimate. All had good reviews on Yelp, all seemed nice and trustworthy and all pretty much gave me the same quote {except for Pelican Plumbing who couldn't give me an estimate at all but still charged me to come out (see my previous review}.

So who did I end up with? Bonafide Plumbing. What I noticed was Ed was really thorough compared to the other guys. The other guys just checked where I thought was the root of the problem. That's nice, but what do I know? Don't just take my word for it, I'm not a plumber. Ed went in the crawl space, my kitchen, etc. He later gave me the full run down of what he needed to do and why. He also didn't seem like he was in a rush and didn't have time for your questions. All the other guys seemed like they were ready to leave before they even got there.

Fast forward, Ed came on time to our scheduled appmnt and finished the work on time and under really crappy weather conditions. He left the house clean, with the job done, and no extra bogus charges that sometimes is tacked on when unexpected problems are discovered.

I added him to my speed dial and will be calling him for future work.

We are so happy that we selected Ed to complete our sink repair! After meeting with a few other general contractors for ideas on how to deal with our non-standard sink/countertop issue, we decided to install a top-mount sink, which was not our preferred style, but oh well.

Since it is a smaller job than most general contractors are willing to take on, we looked at several other options. This is where Ed came in. We were stressed out and after without hot water for several months, just wanted to have a new sink installed quickly and professionally.

Ed met with us a day or so after we contacted him, and I liked him right away. He is clearly experienced in his field, but he also struck me an honest business owner with a strong sense of integrity. Unfortunately, that's really difficult to find when searching for someone to work on your home. Right away I knew that Ed would be able to do the job correctly and quickly, and would provide us with a fair price.

He came to our appointment, and unfortunately our countertop needed an additional small adjustment in order for the new sink to fit. Rather than to try to do a quick job and scrounge together tools that might work for a countertop fix, Ed asked if he could come back after our vacation to do the job with the right tools. I was all for it as we both agreed that he needed the right tools to shave off the quarter inch of countertop necessary to do the correct installation.

On our second appointment, Ed was back bright and early. He completed the job quickly and efficiently, and cordoned off the sink area so that none of the fine dust particles would make their way to the rest of our home. I was so appreciative of that and the other little details he did to fix our sink problem.

We're planning to have our bathroom fixtures changed within the year, and you can bet that we're going to be calling Ed, and only Ed, to work on that project. Thanks so much!

We have used Ed a few times for our plumbing issues in the last few months and he was amazing all those times. The first time we met him was when we had a terrible leak in our dishwasher ( at night) -- his name came up as a referral from one of our neighbors and he came to our place the very next day. He was extremely knowledgeable about the issue and on top of that, charged us at a reasonable price. The next time we reached out to him was in regards to a clogged toilet in our kids' bathroom. He literally came that same day and fished out a gazallion clogged toilet paper! He then also advised on the type of toilets to get in the future (with better flushing capabilities and etc.). More recently, we had a leak in our kitchen sink faucet and instead of charging us for another visit, he was generous enough to FaceTime me and walk me through fixing it myself.

We are remodeling our laundry room and master bath room and had to replace some old pipes, add a sink and drain, hose bibs etc. While looking at our project, Ed was able to make a recommendation on how to do the laundry room first and allow us to wait until later for the bathroom. Edward does awesome work and he's a super honest and reliable! I needed a plumber to install a heat pump water heater, Phyn smart water shutoff valve, and other work related to a gas line. Even though he never installed a heat pump water heater, he was willing to do it and did all his research beforehand to make sure he knew everything that needed to be done on the day of install. Made an appointment two weeks out to check a leaky shower. Asked questions regarding scope of work and if repairing a non-plumbing (e.g.-not pipes) issue was included in the scope. Questions that went unanswered.

When confirming appointment the day before, I again posed the question about the scope and, just like that, he cancelled the appointment.

I have known Eddie for over 15 years and can say he is trust worthy, honest and stands behind his work. Yay! I can't say enough good things about Ed. For one, I asked for recommendations on Facebook and two friends independently responded with Ed. Good sign. I was replacing my old toilet with (a seemingly nuclear-powered) pressure-assisted toilet. Ed is a great find! I kept hearing a dripping sound when I used my toilet, so I called Bonafide and the next day Ed came out to see what was going on.

He made sure to answer all my questions and give me peace of mind about what I was hearing. He told me that it wasn't a problem and he wouldn't recommend opening the wall unless I really wanted to. I really appreciated he told me to not get work that wasn't necessary.

He didn't even charge me to come out and take a look! As he was leaving I asked him what type of payment he takes, and he said for Alameda residents a 15-20 min consult was no charge.

I'm definitely holding on to his card for when I need a good plumber!

I have used Bonafide at least 5 different times over the past 18 months. Eddie is great - reliable, skilled and cost-conscious. He arrives on time, gets things done, and is always very personable and careful in his work. I plan to keeping using him whenever I have plumbing needs.

A quick story to show just how great Ed is at his job: Last year, we started having trouble with the shower/bath downstairs (one in which the shower is above the tub, and a built-in regulator allows you to switch the water from tub to shower). Another plumber came out and looked at the situation, and concluded that we would need to tear out the existing plumbing from the wall and replace it in its entirety. I didn't even ask for an estimate; instead, I found Bonafide on Yelp and asked them to come out.

Ed spent some time looking at the problem, and then figured out that the issue was simply that an O ring had gotten old and wasn't able to create an adequate seal when we switched to shower mode. All we needed was an 80 cent replacement, and everything works great. So Ed saved us thousands of dollars and a huge headache.

I'd recommend Ed and Bonafide to anyone.

I called on a Tuesday and Ed came out the next day. I was rushed for time as I bought and already received a 12 rough-in toilet from Amazon.com only to find my old Alameda house bathroom had an 8 rough-in. Amazon gives a short window to return a toilet. I already used most of that time trying to deal with a #1 Yelp plumber who didn't call back after numerous attempts. He had another appointment that day but we made plans for him to return and complete the work that day. Shortly after that, he called to let me know he wouldn't be able to make it. He said his schedule was packed but said he could get my job done in just a couple days. His staff answered my phone calls, Ed called with his cell and replied to my text messages quick! He was on time and made the job look easy. Being a United States Navy Veteran, Ed has learned a great trade and great work ethics. My first time using him but he seems very fair, honest and a hard worker. He is very familiar with the old homes in Alameda; I found out he did work on my neighbors too. I found Ed on Yelp and am forever grateful. Fair, honest, professional, and easy-going sums him up! We have found our plumber who we will call again and again (it's an older house).

After Thanksgiving, there was this lingering odor in the kitchen sink that we blamed on the garbage disposal. I thought all I needed was a plunger to fix this problem but it continued to stink and drain slowly.... called Ed on a Saturday and he picked up and gracefully asked to call back as he was with a client. He called back when he said he would, made room for us in his schedule that day, and found a corroded pipe which he fixed. Call Bonafide Plumbing first...if you want the best. I had plumbing trouble on a Sunday. Called Bonafide Plumbing. 45 minutes later Ed arrives. Doesn't just fix my kitchen sink problem. He made it BETTER (replacing a single valve with a more useful double) ...AND while he was here, fixed my running toilet!! That was a bonus, a two-fer. Nice guy, quick response, very fair pricing, excellent work, neat and clean job and solid advice. I wanted something else done that would have cost me more money. He suggested a less expensive way to do it. Love that kind of honesty. Eddie to the rescue again!! Hot water went out last night. I am such an idiot about these things and was thoroughly convinced that the water heater would have to be replaced. I was recommended to Ed by Tod Roberts, another plumber who was too busy to meet, so that was a good sign.

Ed met with my husband on a Saturday and he was on time and courteous. He gave us an all inclusive bid which covered all new gas lines, permits and dry wall patching and repair (paint not included).

He started the work on Monday and arrived early. We were having a heat wave that day which made working a bit uncomfortable for him but he soldiered forward. Ed finished the work Tuesday morning, met with the inspector and then had his drywall guy stop by to patch our wall by the stove. Since we have cream colored walls, it almost matches the patch, so we really don't even have to paint right away.

Ed was awesome and when my husband called him to thank him for his work, he actually said that he had fun with our project. Thanks Ed!

Edward was friendly, helpful, and professional. My husband and I had a major leak in our home. When Edward stopped by for the estimate he took his time in assessing the issue and clearly explained to my husband and I what the job would entail, along with possible hurdles. I have worked with Bonafide Plumbing for about two years now. The first job in 2018 was a natural gas line extension to connect a new gas stove. This was done quickly and expertly. They also did a water heater replacement right after Christmas! The next two jobs were to repair a rusty pipe on the drain line under my sink and a recent emergency call out on a Saturday when I had a burst supply line also under my kitchen sink. Both of the water repair jobs were done with full COVID-19 precautions in place while my young kids were elsewhere in the house. Edward is friendly, knowledgeable and always professional. I love to support small businesses and Ed is hands down the very best! We had a kitchen faucet problem that was starting to become a more serious problem as water was leaking into the wall. I had tried to arrange with Ed to schedule the work but my personal schedule was not cooperating. One evening, while doing the dishes I noticed it was getting really bad. It was about 8:30P. I called Ed hoping to leave a message so that he could come in the next day or so. He called back in 5 minutes to say, I'm going out of town tomorrow for a few days so the only time I can fix it is tonight. Really? !!!! A plumber that makes a house call on a Wed. night at 9:00P? !!!!

Thank you, Ed, for providing a lot of consultation on a dishwasher installation that wasn't there before.

In short, I've never had a dishwasher in my home. I consulted Ed to get an estimate on the dishwasher size and installation/hookups to be compliant with City law after reading all the reviews on Yelp. After a long consultation, Ed provided a lot of advice on what type of dishwasher could go in. I wanted to verify if he could perform cabinetry work to a certain standard, but that's when he declined to respond with quote. To be honest, at that point in time, I just took the response decline to be a no. My only recommendation here is to be upfront in declining what can be done, so the customer would not be waiting for an answer/misunderstand it to be rudeness.

Then, a few months later after I finally got the dishwasher he recommended and had separate cabinetry work performed, I got a few other quotes for the hookup/install. I followed up with him again on the quote, thinking that maybe the decline to respond before was due to the cabinetry request. I was able to get a response from him with a reasonable quote for just the hookup/install (plumbing portion), but now, I was facing a time crunch... so I opted for another plumber. I am giving 5 stars though, because Ed hasn't misled me into thinking that he could do more than he could offer and offered a lot of detailed plumbing information. His recommended dishwasher also fits perfectly into my existing layout, which, was really cool, because I spent a lot of time browsing through dishwashers. It was the only one that could fit so well in an existing cabinet layout. So, clearly he is very knowledgeable and a good problem solver. He also has a good grasp of legality.

I've had multiple great experiences with Bonafide plumbing. Eddie makes sure the job is done right and quotes fair prices. He is also an incredibly nice person to welcome into your home.

Recently, Eddie happened to be out of town and I made the mistake of calling another plumber to fix a leak under the kitchen sink--the leak came back almost immediately after a $220 dollar visit. I called Bonafide plumbing to fix the mess, and Eddie of course was able to identify the true issue and fix it permanently. I can't recommend Bonafide plumbing more highly.

It's also worth mentioning that the booking process is really pleasant. Stephanie is incredibly helpful and has troubleshot with me over the phone.

I've had Ed come out to work on my house twice. Both times he was professional, timely, fast and efficient. He went above and beyond to get the job done. In order to move a gas line, he had to dig a trench under my house to crawl into. Well its February 2013, and another good job by Ed. He switched out my old kitchen faucet with a new one and quickly fixed my other toilet. What I like about Ed is that he is a friendly easy going guy who is professional and competent. I had a water hammer problem. I got Bonafide plumbing's name from our Next door member. He came with exceptional recommendations. I already had two plumbers, each trying to tweak my water pressure or recommending draining the system. And these other plumbers had reasonably good reviews.
Ed came in, sat there watching the piping and in a few minutes figured that the problem was one with the valve. He changed the valve and away went the problem. I waited a month and a half before I got around to writing the review.

I am planning to do an upstairs master bath remodel and move the existing toilet to another location. The contractor asked me to call a plumber to determine if it was possible and cost effective. Eddie is friendly, knowledgeable, and prices are very fair for the area. I have used Bonafide for a handful of small repairs over the years and went to him again when my 30 year old hot water heater was ready to kick the bucket. He purchased, picked-up, and delivered the new heater and disposed of the old unit. During the process he replaced the EQ straps and corroded water lines, and relocated the gas shut off to a more accessible/safe location - all while fitting the new (and larger) unit into a tight space. He cleaned his workspace when complete.

I was also very happy with his safety during the pandemic. He was masked for the entire job (including the estimate visit) and kept proper distance throughout. Highly recommend.

I called Bonafide and they said they fixed my sump pump, but since it wasn't the rainy season, I couldn't really tell. When it started raining it was clear the sump pump was not fixed. I called Bonafide and very nicely explained the problem on at least four occasions over a two or three month period. They never called me back.

A tale of two plumbers:

We're selling our house in Alameda and we needed to get a sewer lateral certification, per city code, before the close of escrow. Our agent hires The Plumbing Ministry. There are other inspectors and contractors running around and it's very clear we're selling the house. He says nothing, films the sewer line and gives me a dvd of the inspection. I pay him $150.

Fast forward 6 weeks - it's only days til closing. I learn that this is NOT AT ALL what the city needs and the guy KNEW THAT at the time. He says, well, that's not what she asked for - she just asked for the dvd. He then emails me a quote for $2000 to have my sewer replaced and updated.

I call up BONAFIDE PLUMBING last night and he explains thoroughly what the city is asking for. He then immediately makes a call to a contact in the permit department and determines that the certification was done before I owned the place and that it's still effective. He picks up the paperwork I'll need for the sale and drops it off this morning at my house. $115. It was worth every penny to get my needs met so quickly and to be communicated with in such a professional fashion.

When you ask for a termite inspection, you expect a pest report, not a guy saying, yup, you have termites. When you ask for a tune-up you expect the mechanic to point out that your hoses are about to blow. When you complain about sore boobs you expect your doctor to check for cancer, not give you tylenol.

Moral of the story: it's the job of the professional to know more than you do about what you need and to advise you of the best course of action!

Ed and Beyond Plumbing replaced our sewer lateral. Because of some family related matters, it took a while to get an appointment with Ed but he did come over as promised. I didn't realize he would be contracting out the sewer lateral work to another company (beyond plumbing) but since Beyond Plumbing also had good reviews, we decided to go through with it. I am not sure if it would have been more economical to have called Beyond Plumbing in the first place. BUT Ed was helpful and got the permits and everything in order. The crew was clean (our neighbor complained to them initially about leaving dirt or concrete on their side of the yard but they cleaned it up right away) and the work passed Alameda inspection. If we have a plumbing problem, we'll call Ed.

We've used his services three times and highly recommend him. He's a great guy and does the work himself, which I really appreciate.

He's incredibly aware and strategic. He points out visual clues that help him diagnose issues. He will get down on the concrete to hear a leak. He cares about his work and communicates effectively if you're unclear about any issues.

We had an appointment for him to fix a leaky toilet. Prior to him coming we had just discovered a clicking sound within our walls that sounded like a water leak. He deciphered that what we were hearing was actually the reverberation of the water meter at the curb! He wasn't able to fix the leak himself due to time constraints but he recommended another company who did a great job.

I had a mold question too. Eddie gave me a reference to a company who in turn referred me to another great resource.

I can't say enough nice things about Ed and Bonafide Plumbing. I called when I had tried just about everything to dislodge something my cat knocked into the toilet. Even though Ed is in Alameda and I'm in Berkeley, when I called, he said he was on his way to another job in Berkeley and would pop over when he was done. Although we reached the voicemail when we first called, he returned our call within an hour. We described our problems to him, and he said he would be by in about 30 minutes.

Ed arrived on time (if not a bit earlier) and fixed our problems within 2 hours. He was extremely knowledgeable and polite. His labor rate was really reasonable compared to other plumbing services, and he charged for parts at cost.

He also arranged with a colleague to send a camera down to get images of the damage in case we want to approach the city about the damage a city tree is doing. I was told this process can cost of $1000. We were charged less than a quarter of that!

As always Ed continues to do a great job with a lovely demeanor and a reasonable price tag.

This could've gone down three stars since Ed was MIA at times. He initially came over to fix my kitchen faucet since it started acting up and went very low water pressure. Ed was very professional and prompt, and he did fix that problem and pressure was back to normal (seems like a decomposed washer got stuck in the pipes). Then we noticed our faucet started leaking from the back of this little hole, which was not an issue until after Ed came over. I called Ed and he came back to look at it and tried to fix it, but we found after he left that it acted up again and was leaking much faster. This is when things went a bit wacky where I'd call Ed and he wouldn't respond back until a day later or he tried to schedule an appointment with me to come with new parts, but he would catch me just as I was about to leave the door so we'd reschedule a new time and he wouldn't show and he didn't respond to my calls. I finally got through to him a day later, and he finally came over and fixed my faucet for good. Ed gets five stars because he wouldn't quit on a problem and he has so much integrity to not charge you again for something he feels is his problem. My caveat is that there might be times that Ed doesn't respond back to you immediately, and I'd advise you to not take it personally.

I called Ed in the morning due to a leaking waterheater after calling another local plumber who couldn't get to me for at least three days and that was just for an estimate. Gallons were gushing out and I was in a panic. Ed answered immediately having just finished another rescue and was at my house 10 minutes later! He quickly got the leak taken care of and was there the next morning at 8:00 with a new waterheater. In a matter of 24 hours, we had a new water heater.

Ed was professional and had excellent manners. His rates are very decent and exactly what he quoted.

Woke up and found that the water heater had died overnight. A complete disaster, water everywhere, it was shot. Didn't get it together to call Bonafide until maybe 10 a.m. Despite the late call, Eddie made time in his schedule that day to come out and put in a new water heater--in the crawl space, under the house. A real PITA job, but he couldn't have been more cheerful or more efficient. Price was great, it was done quickly, and we couldn't be happier.

Ed Asuncion did an excellent and timely job with our plumbing issue!

Called on a Sunday night and described the plumbing issue. He gave me a quote and scheduled an appointment for the following day (Monday). He showed up earlier than expected (good thing) and diagnosed the issue within 5 mins. He revised his quote to half of the amount as the work was not as invasive as first thought, finished within 30 minutes, and guaranteed his work for 30 days.

I will definitely call Ed again for any plumbing related issues we may have in the future and highly recommend him!!!

Much like any other good new Alameda-ian (where hipsters go to breed), I went to Yelp to find a plumber for our kitchen sink. So I tried TA Roberts (first on my little search results). After getting a voice mail, I went to the second entry for Bonafide Plumbing.

Talked to Ed (owner and operator) on the first try and he offered to come out that same day. My issue was not that severe (slow running hot water in our sink) so I asked if he could come on the weekend. He agreed and promptly showed up on the time we agreed.

Ed is a super nice guy who has been doing this for years. He was also a steamfitter in the Navy on one of the repair ships when the NAS was still open. In any case, I was amazed and very thankful at how well he was able to solve the problem.

When I called another problem and explained my situation, they told me that since my house old that I would have to replace my kitchen pipes that were probably galvanized over the years. Ed came in and just started with the faucet and worked his way backwards. After a try or two, he was able to get out all of the galvanization (aka gunk) in about 30 minutes. Now I have a fully functional sink again.

In any case, if you are looking for a professional, friendly plumber that isn't looking to charge you an arm or a leg (and is will to allow your 4 year old to help), then Ed Asuncion is your man

Our water heater broke and I called Edward on Saturday to set an appointment for next Wednesday. I ordered the replacement part that was needed and it came on Tuesday . My parents waited for Edward and he told us that the igniter replacement part was broken in shipping. He said he wouldn't charge us because it wasn't our fault and we didn't know. He even said he would come in on a Saturday ( his off day) to help us fix it because our situation was urgent . My whole family hadn't had hot water for 10 days! I am so glad we found such an honest and kind guy! Whenever we need our water heater fixed, we will definitely call Edward! Thank you so much!

My tenant on the first floor called me because his ceiling was leaking. I called Ed to locate where the water is coming from. He went there and before checking the second floor, first he opened the ceiling and told my tenant that there are lots of MOLD in the ceiling and gave them a long lecture why mold is dangerous. He called me and told me the same thing.
My tenant called me very upset and nervous that the house has mold etc. I went there and checked it myself. I didnt see any mold. Since he gave those long lecture to my tenant, I was forced to call a Mold specialist company, they came and took samples, revisited all the area, made so many holes in the ceiling and guess what, they just called me and said there was no mold.

His irresponsible comment and lack of knowledge costed me so much money and trouble. I was expecting him to let me know if he thought there was mold instead of giving lecture to my tenants. I will not use his service at all for any of my rentals.

Eddie came and installed a new water heater for us today and did a great job. I called and texted five other plumbers in Alameda and no one returned my call. Eddie's wife runs the office and picked up my call on the first ring. She had lots of good information and booked the appointment. There are 2 brands of water heaters that he can pick-up from a warehouse in Oakland or if you want to go to Home Depot and get your own, that's fine too. (I hate Home Depot and didn't go that route.) He arrived on time, with the water heater and the whole project was done in 4 hours for the price his wife quoted.

We live in a Greystone home and the water takes forever to get hot in the kitchen and master bath. He mentioned a pump (no high pressure at all - just mentioned) that solves this problem. I had that installed at the same time and now rather than 5-10 minutes of running water for the shower to heat up in the master bath, it comes on in 30 seconds.

He was so polite and helpful and a very good communicator. I highly recommend Bonafide Plumbing.

This post is a little late, but better late then never. Bonafide Plumbing was the first to call us back to make an appt. We had a few things to do including switch out our double sink for one big sink [NIB], add a new garbage disposal and have the plumbing ready for a used dishwasher we are picking on Craig's in a couple days.
Ed quickly took out the old sink, sawed the sink hole a bit bigger [33x22] and redid the piping. The garbage disposal was attached and I'm sure he did more I dont even know about and did it all in just under two hours.
I love my big sink, disposal and my husband is installing the dishwasher to the handiwork of Ed in 2 days. It's like Christmas for me!!! Thanks Ed!!!

Ed Asuncion of Bonafide Plumbing is honest, responsive, thorough and a true professional who stands behind his work.

He is friendly, non-judgemental (strangers walking through our chaotic family room always makes me a bit embarrassed - as I am apologizing, Ed just said 'It's a home!' Thank you!) and respectful. Little things, like his asking if he should remove his shoes before walking on the carpet, make a difference. And... I can't help but like a guy who is nice to my kids.

I have called him to fix the leak from Hell in my tenant's apartment, as well as the two ever-flushing toilets (only 1 from Hell) in my own half of our duplex. Toilet from Hell took a while, but he kept fiddling with it until he got it whipped into shape. When my tenants texted one saturday night to say that their leak was back, I called Ed and he was at our house in less than 15 minutes. On a SATURDAY Night! Wow. Gotta like havng a local guy on your team.

He has shown up when he said he would, called if he was going to be late... returned my calls - though not always immediately. But then, when I say it is not an emergency I really don't expect a callback the instant he gets my message. And I wouldn't have wanted him to call me late on Sunday. He has never made me feel like a pest for calling him again before I heard back, or to narrow down an appointment window because my own plans are changing.

With regard to the reviewer who was upset that Ed was a 'no show' - I understand being upset, but I have to wonder if he called Ed. I would not have just waited around wondering when he was going to show up. I'd call, especially if I took time off work. Too many things could have happened (miscommunication, traffic, exploding hot water heaters...) And from all I have seen of Ed, I know he would respond to that and make it right if he can. I know that Ed works pretty late - he squeezed us in at 6pm the first time for that leaky faucet.

We will be calling him again, without hesitation, for plumbing issues in the future.

I can't say enough good things about Ed. He's come out twice now. Once to fix an improperly installed wax ring under our toilet. This fixed the sewer smell that was in our bathroom. Most recently he fixed a water pressure issue which was, admittedly, user error. He even replaced the cartridge and handle in our shower which were on their last legs. He simply offered to fix it though it wasn't the impetus of my call to him. He then checked the pressure and water flow through the shower and showed various ways of configuring the inside parts of the shower head. He then answered my Qs about a tankless water heater and planning for a second bathroom. Each time he was early and most recently he didn't mind me standing there asking hella questions being curious. His prices are fair and he does quality work. He's shown nothing but exemplary character and for any plumbing projects in the future I'll be seeking out Ed first.

10 STARS- Bought our very first home in Alameda and the first shower we take water starts streaming from our ceiling! Based on reviews from Yelp, called Ed and scheduled an inspection of the problem. On top of the leak, my husband was out of town and our power was shut off because we didn't set up the power through the correct company. Ed fixed the leak, got someone to come in to fix the small hole made to inspect the leak and found the main breaker to turn on the power. Ed is my hero!

For those who don't live in the city of Alameda and have a nonemergency plumbing job, please note this business really doesn't encourage business outside of Alameda. They have a $65 FEE for providing estimates (free if you live in Alameda by the way). So I assume they really aren't interested in developing business outside of Alameda. Good luck with that.

We needed a to replace a shower cartridge. They were able to do it same day and gave me the price per hour on the phone. He called me before coming to make sure he had the part, came early, and even took off his shoes when he entered the house without having to be asked. He was able to resolve the issue in 30 minutes. I ask a lot of questions and he didn't mind answering them. I will hire him again.

I called Bonafide on Saturday afternoon and he showed up in an hour to give me a quote to install a gas line into our kitchen for a gas range arriving Monday AM. Yes, I waited until the last minute... He was back Monday morning, two hours early (awesome), did the job and provided hardware that should have come with the gas range at no charge. He also installed and even leveled the range, which was definitely not a part of the deal but he did it with a smile. Ed is the man.

This was the first time I used Bonafide Plumbing Company. I had a wax seal that needed to be replaced. I called the company to tell them what issues I was having and Stephanie (the owner's wife) asked me several questions and tried to resolve the problem so Edward (the owner) would not have to make a service call. Edward did need to come over. I found Edward to be professional, knowledgeable, courteous, personable, and meticulous. I will definitely use Bonafide Plumbing services again and I will personally recommend him to anyone who is in need of a plumber. Additionally, his prices are extremely reasonable.

I would give Edward 6 stars if I could. On the Friday between Christmas and New Year's my hot water heater stopped working. With overnight guests arriving on Monday and a full day of family scheduled that day I was panicked. I called two local plumbers who have done work for me before and left messages. I called a neighbor who recommended Edward at Bonafide. Luckily Edward answered his phone. He was off that day and waiting for a delivery at his home so he could not leave. He knew I was in trouble with guests coming and really wanted to help. He quickly diagnosed the problem asking if it was leaking, how old, etc. He said he could find the part but I would still need a plumber to install it. When I told him I would just call one of those 24 hour hot water heater companies he was concerned that they would want to replace the entire water heater at more than 4 times the cost. Yikes! A few minutes later Edward called back. His delivery was changed and he was going to get the part I needed. Not only that he offered to install it while I was with family so I left the garage door open for him. I came home to a repaired hot water heater, the old part and an invoice for less than the $350 Edward had quoted. I was happy to thank him in person when he stopped by later to pick up a check for the work. He is a very nice, helpful, trustworthy and trusting person who totally saved the day for me!

Called Ed with a problem that spanned 3 floors of the apartment building I manage. He showed up within a half an hour of my call on a Saturday afternoon and checked everything out. He did his best to diagnose the problem but, since it had been a number of hours since the initial leak there wasn't much to go on. He gave me some good advice on how to handle future issues and, since he couldn't actually fix the problem, he didn't charge for his services.

As good as it gets!

An outdoor faucet wouldn't turn off. Seemed simple enough but, after turning off the water to the house, I couldn't get the 40 year old faucet off! Called my normal plumber (A.T. Weber). They couldn't get here until the next day. 24 hours is a long time w/o water (do-able but not if I can get someone here sooner.) When I asked for someone local who might be able to come today, they mentioned Bonafide Plumbing.

Long story short ... Edward called; arrived 2 hours earlier than he'd predicted; had it fixed in 5 minutes and was on his way. He even showed me precisely how he removed the faucet (when I told him I'd tried w/o success ... I so appreciate learning these things!)

Nice guy, decent price, quick efficient and timely service ... what more could I ask? Thanks, Ed!

My hot water heater sprang a small leak. I called Ed around 1:00 pm, and I had a new hot water heater installed by 3:30. When it seemed that the installation had affected the water pressure, I called Ed - he turned right around and came back within 15 minutes, fixed the problem (the water sitting in the pipes during the installation had stirred up some old sediment) within another 15 minutes, and now I have plenty of hot water.

Great service, reasonable price, didn't mind coming back to fix a related problem - you can't beat that.

Eddie resolved my problem in less than hour.

I'm tiling my bathroom DIY style and the previous owners cut corners to avoid a major pluming problem.

I literally called five licensed plumbers and Eddie helped me late in the evening so I could finish what I started. The other guys were helpful, but willing to look at it the following day or next week. Eddie is one of those people that make you thankful to be part of Alameda.

He's got the know-how and tools to get it done. I'll call him first next time.

Eddie was incredible! I lost my diamond earring down our shower drain and after trying a few tricks of our own we called Eddie. I'm so glad we did too because he carefully and diligently searched through every corner of our drain, combing through every piece of hair and dirt, scouring every nook and cranny of our filthy drain. I felt that it was a very personal mission that he had taken on. He kept looking even after I had pretty much given up. We were even considering other more invasive measures including opening up the ceiling in order to pull out the pipe. Luckily it never came to that, thanks to his perseverance! He finally caught a glimpse of it with his flashlight and pulled it up. I can't believe the money we saved by not needing to open the ceiling or replace the diamond! Thank you Eddie!

In the past, I had looked in the phone book for any professional services, but being out of work 1 year has us on a budget. However, one day my husband met Eddie (or Ed) In Oakland. Eddie at Bonafide saved my day yesterday! I couldn't get my regular plumber to call me back (Eddie is now my regular plumber!); other plumbers' voicemail boxes were full; my handyman couldn't fix my drain, Drano didn't do it and I was fit to be tied. I'm fostering four kittens and have three of my own and after three days and in near desperation with Friday night quickly approaching and the weekend on its heels, I found Eddie on Yelp. His wife ANSWERED the phone! Just talking with her made me feel better, because I had someone to talk to. She said she'd talk with her husband and see if he could squeeze me in. It gets better: At the same time, one of my foster kittens was so sick I had to rush him into my vet's who made special accommodations for him if I could get down there momentarily. Then the phone rang and Eddie was on the way! So, I was changing and getting my kitten ready when Eddie rang my doorbell. I was in my jogging bra and exercise pants (nobody wants to see a 74-year-old woman like this), so I ran down to get the door with excuses about my state of undress. To his credit, he averted his eyes and looked down at the floor. (Note to Eddie's wife: You got a good man!) So Eddie set to work and I left my house to this total stranger, and my foster kittens in his trust (don't open the door!) and dashed to the vet's. When I came back, my drain was fixed and there was a, what I considered, very reasonable bill. I let out some sort of guttural response when I saw it, because for a man and his wife who saved my day, it was a gift! Thanks you guys! You are my new go-to plumbers! Oh, PS, I sort of remember, most likely incorrectly, that Eddie was in Bermuda shorts and flip-flops and would have been on his way to his weekend, were it not for his kindness in coming to my rescue first.

Like all of the other reviews said, Ed is really a lifesaver. I'm sure that most plumbers feel like leaks aren't that urgent or important but as a homeowner, I feel like I'm drowning under stress or worse until it gets fixed. Eddie is simply the best plumber around. Over the last 5+ years of home ownership, we've challenged him with some of the strange and difficult problems that come with living in a 100 year old house. Gas pipes leaking out of a cement wall, water pipes falling apart from electrical charges, driveway sump pumps, it's an impressive list. And he's handled all of it with creativity and professional execution. Best of all, it's always a collaboration, so you can make informed choices. Bonafide Pluming saved me! 2am I get a call from the property owner my water heater is leaking to the apartment below. Never dealing with a water heater before, I googled how to turn off the water.. 8am I start calling Plumbers, it being Saturday morning on a 3-day weekend I assume I will never speak to a live human being. But NO! Stephanie from Bonafide Pluming answered and listened to my emotional plea for help. She calmed me down while assuring me my problem was going to get fixed.. Stephanie was kind, informative and thoughtful. Not only did Edward (the owner) show up within the hour, but he saved the day. Pricing was reasonable and the whole process only took a couple hours. Edward is good and honest people! He listed to me and answered all my questions. He explained ongoing maitanance and really took his time in making sure everything was installed properly and safely!
