HISTORY
Established in 2011.
Owner Greg Truckenbrod is a master carpenter and created Wood Wise after 28 years in the carpentry industry. Originally from the Chicago area, he moved out to the wild west of Arizona in 1987 in search of carpentry work. Since then, he has framed hundreds of homes and has built countless wood projects. As a child, his favorite toys were Lincoln logs and Legos, which most likely contributed to his love for building. To this day, Greg still gets a personal satisfaction from taking a stack of materials and transforming them into a lasting piece of wood work.

Reviews
Greg did a wonderful job and exceeded our expectations. He listened to us and shared his ideas and we ultimately came up with both a beautiful and functional bookcase and window seat unit that will be a focal point for our home. His prices were fair, he was friendly and organized, and did a fantastic job in communicating. We would recommend.
Nope. You never lifted a thing. You looked at the job, and never returned. I had to track you down, and then you blamed your hernia. Nice try, but OMG, no!

Don't bother with this guy. I found him on Craigslist and sent an email explaining what I wanted. He replied back that the project sounded like fun. I asked several time for him to call me to give him more details which I pretty much did in the email. He finally got back with me and he wanted me to draw a picture of what I was wanting. I explained to him I needed 10 rectangular boxes, with 12 sides and the height would be 18. Not something very hard i would think for someone in the carpentry line. All I wanted was a light wood material that would not be heavy and a way that the boxes can be put together and taken apart on the fly. I asked him to draw something up for me and give me a quote. He just hung up on me. I guess the project was harder than he expected and didn't want to bother.
Very Poor Work. I have several issues with the work performed by Greg. First off in hindsight after having to pay another cabinet maker to finish his work to my standards I found out he is extremely overpriced for the quality of work he delivers. He is nice and accommodating in the beginning until he gets the first check and then the service goes out the window. At one point I had to have him come out after he said he was done because he left off part of the trim and an entire cabinet wasn't even close to level! My biggest problem was he only does the woodwork and leaves you to find a painter. Well I had 3 painters come out to bid the job. All 3 said his work was crappy and it made painting very difficult. One painter would not even give a bid, he said it would be too hard to make it look good. The other painters explained that because he used low grade wood and several different kinds of wood it would be very difficult to get a consistent color in the built in. It would soak up several coats and the different woods would look a different color with the same paint. I did find a painter to paint it at a premium price and after 3 days of our life being held hostage with dust and paint everywhere it is finally done. Other mistakes were he placed a seam that doesn't even match up in the very center of the unit. He used screws that barely held on the cabinet doors and had to be replaced. I would get it if we hired him because he was cheap and you get what you pay for. But he's the opposite, over priced and crappy workmanship.
I found Greg's ad on Craigslist and sent a message through his website. I was very clear on what we needed. He responded quickly via email, and that was impressive. The day before our appointment he also sent a confirmation email. Also impressive! The day of our appointment he showed up exactly on time. Three for three! And then.... after showing him the work to be done (skilled cutting needed for a stair project), he huffed and said, I don't do partial projects. Um, your ad said no job too whittle (get it?), but clearly this project, a whole day's worth of work, is? Again, I was clear in my email exactly what needed to be done. Most awkward exchange ever; thanks for making me feel like a worthless client.
